Got a sweet update from MABCR Sadie's human over the holiday. She's doing really well - she's a very happy pup! ❤️ You may remember, Sadie was a difficult placement. She had been undersocialised as a pup and was fear reactive in stressful situations with dogs and people. ❤️ Sadie was with us for exactly 1 year 8 months when we found her the #righthome with a traveling large animal Veternarian. Sadie goes to work every day and loves her job as Ever Constant Companion, and she has become very comfortable with strangers - both human and canine. ❤️ Dogs like Sadie are why we do what we do. She was young, strikingly pretty, was sold into an inexperienced home and was raised as a lap dog (yes, really). You may ask why we're posting a quote about horses in a dog rescue feed...the answer would be because we need more folks looking to invest in lessons to become awesome dog handlers, and fewer people looking for the unicorn. Every day we receive applications from folks who want a dog that's going to walk into their home and be perfect -- without training, without acclimation, without taking the time to build partnership, and with such high expectations for what that dog should be able to handle all at once. A quality relationship between any set of living beings takes time, patience, and understanding, as well as training and building partnership which is especially important when you don't speak the same language....
