I am super late to the Every Country's Miku trend but here we are! Many Spanish Miku and Irish Miku. So I went a bit more detailed. Ibicenca Hatsune Miku! It was hard to choose which one of the female traditional outfits to do but I ended up going with the "gonella" outfit with slight colour variations to fit Miku more 🥰

Taekwondo Groundfighting

how does taekwon-do cover grappling? Or at least traditional taekwon-do? -justhugsplz

From asking Michi, the short answer is that it pilfers a lot of it's ground fighting from Jujitsu. Which, ironically, means we share the same ground fighting fundamentals. Taekwondo works from the perspective that you're not going to be spending much time on the ground, so it's not a focus, and a result, probably never really developed its own groundfighting toolkit.

There is a element of, “if you can't make your own, store bought is fine,” to martial arts. If a martial arts master identifies a gap in their curriculum, in a lot of cases, they simply find someone else's solution to that situation, and incorporate it, or adapt it to fit their needs.

Neither of us know what historical groundfighting looked like in Taekwondo. It should probably be said, but Taekwondo is not really a, “traditional,” martial art. It has its origins in the 20th century, so the integration of Jujitsu may have always been with Taekwondo, to some degree. It's also possible that the original intention was to supplement Taekwondo with some other groundfighting martial art, like Ssierum.

Traditional Korean martial arts include Ssierum, Subak, and Taekkyon. I'm not especially knowledgeable about any of those. Of those, Taekwondo sometimes styles itself as a successor to Taekkyon, but more in the sense of, “loosely inspired by,” rather than a reconstruction.

Though, in recent years there have been some genuine attempts to revive Taekkyon. I'm not saying, “reconstruct,” because I think there's an unbroken line, it just that Taekkyon fell out of favor in the 19th century, and almost died out, not that it actually had died off.

Taekkyon does have its own set of joint locks and grappling techniques, but I'm not familiar with those, so I don't know if they're unique to Taekkyon, or, “the same thing everyone else does.” There is a legitimate element to the idea that basic physiology doesn't change, if an arm lock works one way, that doesn't mean you copied from someone else.

As far as I know, Hapkido was developed independently of Taekwondo, so they probably weren't intended to work in concert, but some Taekwondo schools do pull their grappling from Hapkido.

So the short answer is, Taekwondo tends to lift its groundfighting from other sources, whether that's Jujitsu, Hapkido, or another available martial art, and as a result, it's quite possible that the original expectation was that practitioners would supplement their groundfighting from another source. Especially given that groundfighting isn't a priority for Taekwondo.

What type of demons are Kong/Natasha/Deniz and others are in your au?

Omg sorry for not answering earlier! I'm sick with a fever and a really bad headache and I'm not sure if ya'll can make out what I'm gonna be trying to explain here, but I'll try my best!

So! Kong for starters is a shapeshifting demon! I've mentioned this before also but asking is alright! :3 He can shapeshift into any living being, be it a human, animal or other, as long as there is some sort of life sustaining organs, so objects aren't really possible. Also an transformation is more likely to fail if highly emotional or distressed, when rational thinking is hard, and when one is out of energy and exhausted.

I'd like to think that Natasha is also a shapeshifting demon, and that's the reason she has managed to avoid being caught for so long.

Deniz isn't really a demon. He's just cursed. Though if the curse goes far enough he would be a wild demon. One that has the basic understanding level of an animal and no special power beyond physical form. One that only hunts and works off instincts, basically losing all humanity, becoming just a reflection of what he used to be. That is why it is a curse.

The blue eyed one, (still don't know what name to use so I'll just call him blue or bluey) the power is a bit hard for me to explain but I'll try my best! (Yes I need the pictures to even try to do this-)

So his power is like this thing where he can twist a humans flesh into an image of what he wants through touch. (Does that make sense?) He generally thinks that humans are toys to be played with, or food. You could say he was "blessed" with a dangerous power. I don't really know what to call this type of a demon, but I wanted his power to be this.

He could twist one into being a servant, a mindless puppet. The one that has been turned is fully conscious inside and most likely in a lot of pain, but their mind is no longer controlled by them. It is controlled, by him.

Other options include becoming just a mere pile of flesh with no purpose. (I feel like that sometimes. Anyways-) Or his next art project!

Or you could become decor or furniture. A very fleshy and wailing piece of one that nobody probably wouldn't be comfortable having around, but decor/furniture nonethless!

If you're lucky he just eats you and saves you the pain of being trapped in a vessel of a body that you no longer control. :3

I'll write more later of others like Michi and the rest of his gang and stuff because I feel like I've been rambling way too long and I need to get a grip on reality. I hope this satisfies you and answered your questions atleast a tiny bit 🙏

I'm trying to write a fic about this au, but essentially, they're both villains (what it says on the tin) and they have an unhealthy codependency. Michi gets a turn at being the moral compass this time, which will isn't great, and killing isn't off the table. They want to live an easy life unbothered but the world (the law) won't let them. Semi-organized crime, incredibly organized wardrobe.

Why do you want to make the zine in the first place? Since the Kirby gijinka fandom is rather small and some people are either too shy to share their designs or haven’t considered even making it, I thought making a nice cozy event would be the perfect opportunity to bring the fandom together and even inspire new people to make them!

I know I said "first come first served here but like. Why can't we just. Draw whichever gijinkas we want. Just curious

Firstly, we do want to push people into making new gijinkas, or artworks of characters people usually don’t consider! Secondly, if that were the case then the zine would just be 50% Magolor. With all due respect I don’t find it exciting and I’d rather have more variety.

Will there be limited slots? Or as more people join more characters added for gijinkas.

If you’re talking about slots of the zine itself, we’ve decided 35 participants is good. If you’re talking about character slots, we do have characters planned to put in a list so people can pick, but if someone wants to pick a character that is outside of the list provided we’ll allow it to as long as it’s from Kirby.

Is this whole thing basically like a newspaper?

It’s more akin to, well, a magazine. Each page consists of one artwork/photo/illustration.

Will only certain people get certain characters?

No.

Is there a problem if you’re under 16? Does this make you unable to participate? || I was just curious since I am 16 years of age, would I need to be older to participate?

The team believes working with folks over 16 will make the event run smoothly and be more active :) So yes, you need to be 17 and over to participate.

I wonder if the anime counts in this, but if not that's fine too || Does Gijinkas of like places count? Like i have a Fountain of Dreams Gijinka and I’m like really obsessed with her, but not sure if she would count or not

Would cosplay be an acceptable medium for the zine? If so, that may affect some of my choices haha but my current answers are for 2D art ATM!

Yes! You will need to send cosplays you have designed, and since it’ll be rainbow themed you have to have some photography experience, but we’ll be far less strict on the case of cosplays. Please look at the schedule to see if you can make a cosplay in the amount of time given.

Will everyone have one character to draw or can you draw two characters together?

The character you will be assigned is supposed to be the main character within your illustration, but feel free to include any other character as long as it doesn’t take the focus away from the main.
