With 2023 coming to a close, that means its time to look back on what my favorites of the year were. Here's my top ten figures of the year, plus five more.

This year started kinda slow, but MAN OH MAN did it pick up as the months progressed. The second half of the year in particular it felt like the floodgates opened and I'm drowning. Not a bad problem to have, but it's a been little hard to keep up these past few months.

You may notice a figure in these images I haven't taken pics of yet. You'll see more of him soon enough. Until then, happy new year everyone!

Also! Remember when Deadpool became popular enough that we were able to publicly compare him and Mikey? Sometimes the part of me that enjoys wacky conspiracy theories agrees that after Deadpool's introduction in the early 90s, Michelangelo's character absorbed some of him. And that some of Deadpool is based on Mirage Mikey. And that they kept subtly influencing each other over the decades. Spider-Man and Deadpool are besties anyway, and there has been fanfiction about Michaelangelo meeting both.

With Daredevil and X-Men having been the main source of the parody origin of the Ninja Turtles, I had been puzzled by the Batman teamup until I remembered that Warner Brothers owns Viacom, which owns Nick, and that IDW, which Kevin Eastman helped with from the start, probably doesn't have permission to work with Marvel. Which is probably why we don't see the Turtles in the X-Men's school. I tried to write a crossover in the 00s. I got distracted halfway through. Besides, 2003 Mikey becoming The Phoenix sounds silly now.

Mikey Monday

So I don’t have a fanart ready in time for Mikey Monday, and I can’t write a fic that fast under pressure. So instead, here’s a blurb about my appreciation for Mikey being my youngest sister’s favorite Turtle.

My youngest sister does not easily get into superhero works, but at the time I started watching, she looked up to me immensely and so anything I wanted to do, she also wanted to do. Michelangelo quickly became her favorite Turtle, and I can’t remember if it’s because he made a joke she found funny, or if he was going on about food and she, being an elementary schooler with an absurdly high metabolism, related to it. Mikey ended up being a character that allowed her to finish out the series and get into it on her own for a time, rather than it just being a thing she watched because her big sister with her absurdly strong interests liked it.
