An army motorcyclist (?) is severely injured and might never walk again— but he well ride! Stonewall Prep is excited to bring you this year's summer trip: Venice Italy! There will be plenty of excursions and things to do, as well as down time to explore everything Venice has to offer. We will be leaving August 1, and returning to the school on August 11.

This trip is not optional. All students and staff will attend, as well as townspeople coming along to assist with supervision.

RULES.

Everyone must be in their assigned rooms between the hours of 11pm and 6am.

No student is allowed to leave the hotel alone - they must have another student or staff person with them at all times.

Excursions and scheduled events are not optional.

Remember you will be in the 'real world' so be mindful of appropriate attitudes and respect with higher marks

ROOM ASSIGNMENTS.

Everyone will be staying at an all inclusive hotel in the City Center with the following amenities: bars, restaurants, pools, hot tubs, sauna, spa (with massage, skin care, nail care), and game room with video game set up, pool tables, dart boards, etc. Rooms are suites with two bedrooms each containing a king bed, kitchenette, pullout couch and private bathroom.

Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry (John Hough, 1974)

"Dirty Mary" is Mary Coombs (Susan George), a petty thief and groupie who gets involved with Larry Rayder (Peter Fonda), a would-be NASCAR star, when he pulls off a supermarket heist with the aid of Deke Sommers (Adam Roarke), an alcoholic auto mechanic, and goes on a run that develops into a widespread, high-speed car (and helicopter) chase, masterminded by state police captain Everett Franklin (Vic Morrow). And that's pretty much all you need to know about Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, except that the title does a disservice to Deke, the third in the trio and the only close-to-interesting character in the film. Mary and Larry might as well be animated cartoons for all the humanity their characters generate, and George and Fonda play them accordingly. (George's manic performance, often lapsing into her native British accent, got on my nerves.) But Roarke makes some effort to provide some nuance to Deke, a loser whose fondness for the bottle makes him unemployable even though he's shown to be a master at making bashed-up automobiles run. He's also somewhat in love with Larry, his one chance at redemption. Otherwise, the real stars of the film are the cars, a 1966 Chevrolet Impala, a 1969 Dodge Charger, a bunch of Dodge Polara police cars, and that helicopter. You pretty much know how it's all going to end, and when it does it stops, having accomplished the inevitable with no need to point a moral or adorn a tale.

Not Another Duke by Jess Michaels

The Kent’s Row Duchesses #2

Wicked stepchildren instead of wicked stepmother provide the evil intent and actions in this romantic suspense ~ What a fun addition to this series!

What I liked:

* Flora: dowager duchess of Sidmouth, ousted from her house, hated by her stepchildren, loved her much older husband, good friend to Valaria & Bernadette, rather taken with Roarke

* Roarke: poor relation to the Sidmouth clan, trying to care for his failing mother, blackmailed and bullied, attracted to Flora but in a quandary about the situation he finds himself in

* Seeing how Valaria and Bernadette are doing in their own romances

* The plot, setting, pacing, and writing

* Seeing the thought processes of both Flora and Roarke as they work their way toward a satisfying future

* The reference to the Pembroke paintings and the way it tweaked my memory of THAT rather wonderful steamy book! (Their Duchess)

* The conclusion��impactful in more ways than one

* Looking forward to Theo & Bernadette’s book

What I didn’t like:

* Who and what I was meant not to like

* Thinking about what could/would create such evil stepchildren…and being glad I won’t ever have anyone hating me THAT much!

Did I like this book? Yes

Would I read more in this series? Definitely

1859. Reactivated (inactive 1978-1982, now privately operated); focal plane 83 ft (25 m); white light, on 7.5 s, off 5.5 s. 84 ft (25.5 m) round brick tower with lantern and gallery. The original 3rd order Fresnel lens remains in use. Lighthouse painted white, lantern black. Original 2-story wood keeper's house and 1881 assistant keeper's house are privately owned. Small museum in lighthouse base. Michael Burton Roark's photo is below, Kimi Kover has a 2019 photo, Britten has a good photo of the light station, Trabas has a foggy photo, and Google has a street view and a satellite view. After the Coast Guard deactivated and abandoned the lighthouse in 1978 public protests led the State of Delaware to take ownership in 1981. The resulting restoration in 1981-82 saved and relit the lighthouse and there was another significant renovation in 1997-98. In 2006 the exterior of the lighthouse was repaired and painted; Geoffrey Meyer-van Voorthuijsen has an April photo of the project in progress. In 2017 the state purchased the adjoining keeper's house and announced plans to restore the house and paint the lighthouse. Located on 146th Street at Lighthouse Avenue in Fenwick Island, a few feet from the Delaware-Maryland state line. Site open; keeper's house open Thursday through Monday mornings in July and August and Friday through Sunday in June and September; only the base of the tower is open to visitors.
