She was born in Stockholm. After graduating high school, she moved to London to study at a stage school. She moved to Los Angeles in the early 2010s.

She appeared on British television series and in films including the 2009 drama Unmade Beds and the 2011 drama Everywhere and Nowhere.

After making a move to the U.S. she immediately booked the lead female role in Arena opposite Kellan Lutz and Samuel L. Jackson. 

She is a Swedish actress🇸🇪. She is best known for her roles as Nadia in the Showtime series Dexter (2012), Katrina Crane in the Fox series Sleepy Hollow (2013–15), Freydís Eiríksdóttir in The CW series Legends of Tomorrow (2017–18) and Gwen Karlsson in the CBS/Paramount+ series Blood & Treasure (2019–2023).

I’ve felt for a while that renowned Hollywood actors are frequently worse than lesser known ones, or actors from other countries. Even the stars that started out good seem to get worse with age, like they gradually forget what an actual person is like.

This interview with Katia Winter felt like it hit the nail on the head:

“Hollywood feels so damn far away from the rest of the world. It's hard to explain, but it's a city that never grows up. The Hollywood bubble means that people never age, you get stuck. You don't take part in things that happen in the rest of the world. I got incredibly poor inspiration from living there, and I think I became a worse actor because of it.

What was missing?

 – New impressions. There’s so much ego in Los Angeles. It’s very shallow. All you do is go to the yoga studio, get in the car and go have a coffee with someone, and have the same conversation as yesterday, take the car home. In London, or New York, or Stockholm, you meet so many people outside of your own industry – in Hollywood everyone does the same thing. You get there because you believe you will succeed, but gradually you stifle your own creativity.”
