ok hear me out: cars enchanted au (if u havent watched enchanted 2007 go do so its so good), lightning being the hopeless romantic disney prince (hes giselle here btw), chick being the evil king, mia being the stereotypical princess (shes edward), and sally being the realistic attorney in la who gets stuck with lightning

Lightning is astonished at the "mechanical horses" that can go much faster than his own horse named Kachow. Who acts like Maximus from Tangled and then actually becomes his car in the real world.

Chick on the other hand is reveling because in the real world he can be an asshole and not only be liked but even gains a small following. Then he discovers social media.

Mia meanwhile gathers her animal army to look for Prince Lightning and maybe starts to become a girlboss by many coincidences and accidents.

Sally looks at all of the chaos from the fairytale characters, sips her coffee and mumbles "This is fine" like a mantra in her head.

Part 1 of Flo's V8 Cafe 2007 Remake

I deleted Part 1 from 2022 bec I couldn't reedit it so I copypaste the info here and combined the links.

So I decided to make my own AU of an alternate universe of Cars humanizations, so I set in the year 2007 since according to the Lightning McQueen Piston Cup wins, he first won in 2007, so I imagined since he's celebrating his win, what would he also do in his free time? So I based him on Steve Harrington who's working in Scoops Ahoy in Stranger Things S3 bec the two both had in common, they used to be assholes towards others until they have a change of heart. So in this version since Radiator Springs were starting to get more customers after McQueen's first Piston Cup win, Flo's V8 Cafe rooms were starting to restructure to give more customers more space. Flo was also hiring more waiters, waitresses, janitors and cooks for multitasking. So McQueen convinces his girlfriend Sally that since he's on racing break, he wants to try a new gig of being a waiter at Flos V8 Cafe and attract more customers due to his popularity and persona and by this time he's no longer Lightning McQueen his name is Montgomery McQueen or Monty for short bec he gains more confidence to say his real name despite other people or even his closest friends were weirded by his real name bec he wants to set aside his painful past of hiding his real name. Although Sally and Doc prefer his real name rather than Lightning's name, bec he realized that the people closest to him would accept the real him for who he was.

So Sally agrees with his decision including Doc, and he's gone through training at Flo's until he gets accepted and hired as a waiter, as he was about to try his new standard waiter uniform but instead the next day of his job he couldn't find his uniform and the other 5 sets of it and it was gone missing, so Flo couldn't find another set of available uniform for him and told him that the only available alternate outfit is the sailor outfit, McQueen was shy when he revealed his outfit to his friends including Sally and Doc and they told him he looks cute and fresh, and McQueen denies that he looks cute. So throughout day and until afternoon he serves food and chats with the customers that the cafe gains more customers than it ever was bec of McQueen's presence. It wasn't until later he learned the truth that the reason Mia and Tia who were waitresses were giggling at him bec he figured out that they stole his uniforms and replaced it with a sailor outfit of the 80's to make him look more popular bec they figured out he looks better than the standard uniform to gain more customers so Flo's V8 Cafe can gain more popularity and also combined with McQueen being popular in the racing community. It's not until Mia and Tia discovered that McQueen learned the truth when he heard about their conversation and that's where he decided to confront Mia and Tia about the uniforms and they both admitted that they stole his uniforms bec they didn't tell him sooner that the truth is that they prefer him wearing the 80's uniform bec it was barely being used for a long time and they figured that it fits on him, and both of the twins apologized for what they did and for stealing his uniforms as a replacement for the 80's sailor uniform, and McQueen accepted their apology and he told them next time they should be honest about it and that they shouldn't take someone's uniform without their permission and he told them that they needed to return his uniforms and both of the twins promised that they will return his uniforms after cleaning up Flo's V8 Cafe. Later that night, McQueen would never forget those memories and he still enjoyed dancing with Sally with the song playing on the background that is Footloose during the rest of the night, while he and Sally were both using roller skates to dance as if they were both enjoying and spending their time as a couple while the rest of Radiator Spring's community and customers enjoy dancing, eating and singing. Then by 12 am, after cleaning the place, the Twins returned his uniforms and promised to McQueen that they would not repeat what they did again, and McQueen appreciated their response for being honest, and it was also him believing that they would learn from their actions.

So for the setting of Flo's V8 Cafe I based it on Disneyland Cars Land of the interior of the place and its rooms but it disclaimer it wasn't super accurate bec in my ver Flo's place went through restructuring to give more space in her place so I used aspects of the interior of Flo's V8 Cafe in real life and since her cafe is based in the 50's I decided to also base the 50's cushion chairs and metal tables in the '50s including the checkered tiles with b/w and g/w colors and the text font and colors were arranged to human food bec the original text was about cars food to just make it appropriate.

The picture on the left behind Fillmore and Sarge was the photo between Flo and Ramone in their glory days back in the 50s and 60's colorized. Flo's hairstyle was based on the women of the 60s since she's a showgirl of Motorama girls I want her hair to stand out and her turquoise shiny dress was based on the time era and I based it on the song Hit The Road Jack of 4 black women singing while the black guy with aviators was singing and playing the piano.

And a deleted scene from Cars shows Flo wearing a pink feathered boa while singing in front of Ramone and McQueen and I decided to use that concept and apply to her outfit

As for Ramone, I based it on 60's groovy outfits since I believed Ramone would be the type to impress and dance with his wife

The reason I used the song Hit the Road jack bec when I see the music video I always imagined Ramone playing the piano and singing alongside with wife as a form of love and respect for each other alongside jazz music.

As for Monty's outfit, I fused Steve and Robin's Scoops's Ahoy sailor outfit to fit Monty's outfit except it's colored turquoise mixed with grey.

For Mia and Tia I based it on 50's diner waitresses

For the roller skates since it's called CarHops although it's used more on Drive-ins, I believed it can be used in Flo's V8 Cafe for faster service and used as a playful dance while roller skating

Even Mia and Tia had to teach their crush, McQueen, how to do proper roller skating since in my headcanon they as humans would have knowledge about that, and McQueen had to be careful of not spilling food by avoiding tripping anywhere.

For Flo's V8 diner food I based it on these images including in real life Flo's V8 Cafe

❤️ I think Cars 2 was real start of the 2010s Disney Twist Villain craze…

Previous Twist Villains existed before the 2010s, but I think the reason why it became more frustrating for Pixar and Disney movies in that time was because of one person: John Lasseter. Lasseter had been executive producer on all the Pixar and Disney films with the twist villain: Cars 2, Wreck It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana, Coco, and Incredibles 2.

While Lasseter was the executive producer on previous Disney and Pixar films with a twist villain (Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc. Incredibles, Meet the Robinsons, and Toy Story 3) he also had a lot more oversight as well. He wasn’t the most powerful man in animation at the time.

I think Lasseter really liked the twist villain and production-timeline wise, he probably suggested twist villains while making Cars 2.

With that being said… I think Miles Axlerod is the smartest in the sense that he never brags about his crimes to his victims. He only reveals himself as the villain when there’s a bomb inches from him and seconds away from blowing him up. Axlerod was smart enough to be cautious, not going to his meetings in-person, using a disguise voice and I think changed his color(?)…

As for the amount of money he probably spent setting up the World Grand Prix as a sham… Well if the 2020s have taught us anything is that being a billionaire doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a genius.

I’m not saying Miles Axlerod my favorite, but I kind like him in the historical sense of animation production and writing, what he’s meant to represent in the movie itself, and for shallow reason of silly/scary fanfics about him. Like in the same way people use Prince Hans (no super powers or soft/sad boy-ism, but manipulation, charm, wealth, and privilege).

💚 I liked crashing into Mia and Tia on the Cars video game because it kind of gave me a glimpse of their personalities. Surprisingly they are different. Mia is more aggressive with her yelling and whining and has more lines than Tia (in the video game). Mia also has a slightly deeper voice than Tia. Tia is more likely to compliment herself (self confidence queen) and whine.

I don’t get why people assume they’re teenagers. Not only is that gross for Lightning… but Mater too since they’re in his tall tales as girls to impress.

Sarge is the underrated hero. Despite calling Fillmore a tree hugger, he clearly distrusts Axlerod’s history of being an oil tycoon enough to switch Allinol with Fillmore’s fuel at the last minute. He may call not trust Fillmore’s organic fuel, but he cares about McQueen’s safety than his bias. There’s also this line Mater said in Cars 3 that while Luigi and Guido were Lightning, they put Sarge and Fillmore in charge of the tire shop. Fillmore gave all the tires away and Sarge was hunting them back down because… you don’t just do that with someone else’s merchandise.

But at the same time, casually brings a cannon to a party when Fillmore asked:

Lightning McQueen?

Lightning McQueen from Pixar's Cars is yet another highly debatable character. Many things have been directly or indirectly confirmed to have analogs in the Cars universe (such as a Car Pope and a Car WWII), and there are a couple adult innuendos and references that are made (i.e. the female cars Mia and Tia "flashing" their headlights at McQueen in the first movie), but there is nothing that explains where the cars from Cars come from. The cars do canonically have different ages, however, with the most notable example being Maddy McGear:

She is shown in the third movie to be one of Lightning McQueen's biggest fans, and canonically has a mother, Melissa Burnabrake (who notably has a different last name), but this is the one and ONLY instance of what we can assume is a child shown in the ENTIRE Cars franchise. This results in a deluge of unanswered questions about the lore of the Cars universe, none of which have a definitive resolution to them. Are cars born? Or are they built and manufactured by other cars? Do cars have organs or do they have mechanical parts? Are new cars being produced at all, or is there a finite number of cars that simply get upgraded and repaired over time? Can a car change their profession at all or are they stuck as what they started as? are the cop cars assigned cop at birth (ACAB)? Is the deleted scene with McQueen's engine being removed and put into a broken-down steamroller to transfer his consciousness into it resulting in Mater doing the same with McQueen's body and stealing it for a joyride a canonical thing? What about the deleted scene where he falls into a mass car grave? Why are the bugs cars? The rodents? The cows and deer? How is there still food like sushi in the second movie if all animals are cars? Why do they both drink and pee oil? Did this used to be normal world filled with human that Maddy McGear made a Fairly-Odd-Parents-style wish to have everything be cars that retroactively altered the course of history?? DOES THE TSA SCENE IN CARS 2 IMPLY THAT THERE WAS THERE A CAR 9/11??????

Hmm, let’s see if I can put this into words the way I want to. (Sometimes I feel like I fail spectacularly at trying to translate what I’m thinking in my head into words in a way that makes sense and is as articulate as I want them to be. It’s that struggle of trying to convey what I truly mean, while I don’t know if it actually gets the point across that I am trying to make.)

Anyways, I think that if you’ve followed me for any length of time, that you’re aware of my; at least mild, enjoyment of Pixar’s Cars. (If by mild I mean at times obsessive.)

Because I have recently taken to watching YouTube videos of people watching and reacting to the three Cars movies, I find myself once again musing on them. So if you so dare to take a gander at my love and thoughts of the movies, and my phases with the movies, read on below.

Starting off with the most beloved to me; the original Cars movie that came out all the way back in 2006, making it 20 years old next year.

It really came out at the right time. My dad’s always been a bit of a car guy. He’s not a mechanic, but works adjacently in sourcing parts for well over 30 years now (not all at the same business, but always the same job). So growing up I was always around car shows, watching races and other motor sports. (My uncle was also a semi truck driver, but that’s a little less relevant). Possibly a year before we had watched an IMAX movie about the history of NASCAR, and dad had us watching Dukes of Hazard, and would show us clips of Smokey and the Bandit. So overall there was a heavy influence of car related shows, movies, events and such around the house.

So when Cars came out, we went and saw it, and I think it was even on the opening weekend, which is something that never happened. We rarely went and saw movies in theatres because it was so expensive and if we did it would often be in the cheap theatre. (It might’ve actually been the first movie that my brothers saw in theatre, minus the IMAX documentary about NASCAR). My youngest brother was absolutely terrified of Frank, the combine, and we've never let him forget it, but I mean, he was also only 4 at the time. (We just might've ended up with a bootlegged dvd copy that we watched so many times that when I still watch Cars today I expect the movie to glitch/skip back where Lightning's being sarcastic about turning right to go left making sense.)

My brothers and I watched that movie so many times that first year that it came out, that it had to be close to everyday. I mean, we literally had little ad-libs in about certain parts of the movie. Like saying "and Mater jumps over the moon" when Mater is showing off his backwards driving skills. Or when Mia and Tia gasp at Lightning's spin out during the tie-breaker race when they're all done up in Chick's gear we'd say "they're still very much Lightning's fans". Not that I remember if we really had anything beyond that.

I also remember when I had my best friend at the time watch Cars with me. I found that she just didn't get the ending the first time. As she wondered why Lightning didn't cross the finish line first and then go back to help Strip Weathers. I don't think she realized that while yes he technically could have, it wouldn't have been as momentous of an event and finish his character arch off in its entirety. The whole point of him stopping is to show that winning is no longer his top priority. That he's grown past that mind set. (And the music's so triumphant.)

Talking about the music, I absolutely love the entire soundtrack of this movie. From the Sheryl Crow song starting off the first race, to Life is a Highway (which I knew the Tom Cochrane version first), to Our Town, to Sha-Boom, to all of the instrumentals. I love them all, and will sometimes watch the movie just to listen to the music. The soundtrack should be talked about more often.

Also, it's just a visually stunning movie even all these years later. The dust is still truly incredible and the shine on the vehicles. The attention to detail in town as the residents clean up their places. Just, mm.

Can you tell I love this movie just a little bit?

It's not like it's a new story being told, but it is told well. I will always stand by the fact that people who write the movie off just because the characters are talking cars, just aren't the ones these movies are for.

Onto number deux.

Cars 2 is by far my least favourite movie of the three. And a big part of that is because there isn't enough Lightning McQueen in it and there's too much Mater. Also because it's a spy movie, the tone is so completely wrong. (I was also in BIG denial that it WAS a spy movie until I actually watched it.) I honestly didn't want to believe it was a spy movie and then once I watched it I was also annoyed that all the best action bits were already shown in the trailers. So that was the first time I was thinking that trailers show too much of the interesting parts sometimes.

So yeah, unlike some people who love the movie, I never could develop as much of an attachment to it. (I initially swore that I would never watch it again, but broke down when the Cars 3 trailer came out. And thought it wasn't quite as bad as I remembered it to be. Still didn't like it a ton, would rather watch the Planes movies.)

I honestly think that it would be better as two separate movies, in a few ways. First being the fact that with Mater taking centre stage, the movie felt more like an extended Mater's Tall Tales. All the spy stuff could be it's own movie, even an in world movie like it was originally conceived as (at least I thought that's what I heard somewhere along the line, I'm not checking that currently, I just know that I had heard it somewhere). Then the racing could be it's own focus.

There have been times where I have been tempted to try and write a fic that would rewrite the movie to what I would have liked to have seen. Which would have been removing all references to the spies and focus not only on the World Grand Prix races, but on the grief of losing Doc, that I feel should have had more emphasis in this movie. Like I don't even mind there being a scandal with the gasoline, I just wanted more Lightning and the rest of the Radiator Springs crew besides just Mater.

Anyways, I really don't have much more to say about this movie, other than I have come to appreciate it for what it is, but it will always hold a bit of a sour taste about it.

Number 3. I was so excited and pleased about the third movie being announced. I had been hoping that they would make a third movie so that the franchise wouldn't end on such a sour note. A little terrified that it wouldn't be what I was hoping for. (At least until the trailer came out, then I knew it should be good.)

Finding Dory and The Incredibles 2 had also been announced at similar times and while everyone seemed to be more excited about Incredibles 2 (which I couldn't have cared less about), I was excited about Cars 3, even with people saying nobody was asking for it. (Because yes I was).

The trailer with Lightning's wreck. I can remember so many people thinking Lightning was dead. Which frustrated me so much because no; clearly it's supposed to be a Doc Hudson type of wreck that Lightning was in. One that potentially could have been career ending. (It was also a visually stunning looking trailer). That trailer pulled me right back into Cars. (It had me eating, breathing, sleeping Cars for a long time and clearly still has me hooked.) I started reading so much fan fiction for it. I met a great friend (hi @nurfhurdur) through a fanfic story which I still go back to time and time again (and all the others related). And I started watching the first movie nearly daily again (as well as the second and the two Planes movies).

I took my parents and brothers out to see it opening weekend again. And when I came out of the theatre I was ready to turn back around and go watch it again right away. (I did not. I did watch it a total of three times in theatres though.)

I loved all the parallels to the first movie and the fact that they pulled in some of the soundtrack from the first movie. I loved Lightning's arch coming full circle with him becoming the mentor (though I can't say that I particular cared for Lightning's Hudson Hornet Blue look at first. It took a long time to get used to it). I loved that we actually got a proper send off for Doc.

This entire movie was much more along the lines of what I had been hoping for for the second movie. So I'm at least glad that we got it for the third movie.

I have to say that I was also glad that there was no real references to the second movie, which I do think is a smart choice. I did feel like Mater just was there and like he wasn't used properly. There's just something that's feels so inherently awkward about most of his scenes, not bad, just don't quite hit the way that they could. I think that's in part due to the kerfuffle that the second movie was with his overuse.

At this point I don't know that I have any flow for the thoughts that I have about this movie.

Jackson Storm did remind me a bit of Lightning as a rookie, if Lightning had shown less reverence for the racing greats. Because Lightning was just as arrogant and cocky as Storm, but he also has a lot of respect for Strip and Doc (at least once he learned about Doc's racing past).

I feel like there's a lot more that I could say about this movie, but I don't have the brainpower for it currently. Also I have something else that I want to mention because of a post that I've seen and it plays as big of a part as the movies, even though it's related to fanfic instead of anything from "official" sources.

Of course, these days I feel like I can't talk about Cars without talking about my favourite fics. (The ones mention ever so quickly by my friend.)

Nurf's story Life's Highway was the first humanized story that I had come across that I actually enjoyed and found to be well written. Never could I have expected that leaving a rambling mess of a comment would turn into such a wonderful friendship and more AU ideas than could be counted. Many of these AUs living rent free in my brain along with Hard Enough Left, Doc Hudson's origin story that my dear Nurf wrote with me cheering her on from the sidelines, her biggest cheerleader (at least I claim so, that I'm her number 1 fan, which I will fight others on. But like truly, Nurf's take on the canon characters and her OCs live permanently rent free in my head. There's a reason why I write fan fiction of her stories. Emily Piston and Ruth Hudson are a huge part of it. (That and Emily and Doc are my OTP, I have shipped them so hard since Emily was first introduced as practically a throwaway character. I have adopted her and Ruth as mine and I'm so glad that in all AUs that we have with Ruth living, that she and Emily become great friends.) I honestly wish more of our AUs could be shared. One day I will get the movie AU out there. I have a couple versions of the Titanic AUs out there. But there's so many good ones out there.

Anyways, if I don't stop now, I will keep going and going. Because I can and will gush about these stories as much as the movies or more.
