Gi-hun is not a deadbeat.

Season one he can be considered "selfish" and ignorant but we are given context for his behaviour which should incline you to feel sympathetic towards his situation.

He and his colleagues lost their jobs because the higher ups that ran their factory fucked up, him and his coworkers occupy the factory as an act of protest where in which he witnesses his friend be beaten to death by the police, after this he not only losses his job but is blacklisted from the industry he has his training, experience and education in.

His lack of job causes a lack of money which causes him to take loans out to continue supporting his family which causes a rise in tension with his wife who eventually divorces him because of his rising debt. In an effort to pay off his debt he turns to gambling which he then becomes addicted to which causes him to pile up even more debt, we can tell from his run in with the debt collectors in season 1 this isn't the first time he's been threatened.

This man has been through so much fucken shit and it concerns me when people are given the context and still have the audacity to talk about him (and other "players") as if they're all greedy assholes when the whole point of the show is to make you see how powerful money is especially when someone is desperate.

Seriously seems like some people watched the show and somehow came away with the same thinking as the salesman/recruiter, Inho, Oh Il-Nam and the VIPs.
