Summary: The MFEs get matching tattoos.

James sucked in a sharp breath as he pulled his bags over his shoulder. In retrospect, maybe getting a tattoo right before launch wasn’t the best decision he ever made, but it was his. It was something he did for himself and his friends. “You alright?” Keith asked, concerned by the sounds of pain coming from his boyfriend. I’m never getting tired of calling him that. “Yeah, just this tattoo Rizavi had us all get. It hurts like-“ “You went and got a tattoo? Who are you and what have you done with James Griffin?” he teased. “Funny.” James moved to unbutton his shirt to show Keith. He revealed the tattoo-a spear laid over an intricately patterned shield. “Nadia came up with it. I figured it could be a surprise for later tonight but…” “Why a spear and a shield?” “Oh, uh, the MFE fighters, you know how their full designation is ‘MFE-Ares’? They’re his symbols, Ares I mean. War god and all that.” “That gonna be you’re lucky charm while we’re out there?” Keith asked. “Yeah,” James smiled, “I guess so.”

canon Ryan Kinkade is a quiet soft boi who likes to spend his time daydreaming and reflecting on what's happening around him and y'know that's not real compatible with talking and besides he's more comfortable with his thoughts than with his words

BUT BOY WHEN HE TALKS Ryan doesn't waste a word -- he says what he means, nothing more, nothing less. in situations like that of Veronica's mmm sacrifice he doesn't go for idle reassurance, but a hard truth that he knows his crew knows and knows that they're too consumed by "what-ifs" to accept.

"She saved the mission. And us." is such a clear, concise statement that gets across so many points:

there was nothing anyone else could have done

Veronica made a decision, knowing the risks and understanding that the benefits outweighed them

if Veronica hadn't sacrificed herself, it wouldn't have just been MFE-Ares that died. the garrison would have been starved out until they had no choice but to face the Galra

Ryan Kinkade knew this because he's not an edgy loner like Keith but an introspective person who prefers reflection to conversation and that's just the tea

any predictions about s8? 👀

Ohoho! I’ve got loads! I actually set up a tag for s8 hype talk if you want to read my more in-depth predictions as they come to me. I’m gonna use this ask to talk about some of the stuff I probably won’t meta about, not that I wouldn’t love to talk about any of this if you see something that peaks your interest, but most of this list is hunches or straight-up hopes and wishes. Buckle up, it’s tinhat time! 

Honerva Redemption Arc- yes, I’m still holding out hope for this. Ask anyone I talk to regularly- I’m very intrigued by Honerva and want to see some amazing stuff from her. If she does have a redemption arc, I don’t think it will be anything near traditional and likeliest would be upon death. But given we’ve seen her grow from unashamedly brutal to questioning herself and her loyalties to prioritizing her desires and pursuing life-long goals, I believe there’s room for her to be morally complicated. 

Lotor Returns- I don’t know how because there are so many options, but my primary reason for believing he will be back is because there was no finality in his last s6 scene. I’ve got another ask I’m working on right now that will talk more about this. 

Allura and Altea- Allura has been holding onto her memories of Altea and in a way living in the past. But now with a chance to rebuild her culture with her people, Allura has the opportunity to move forward and forge new memories and traditions. Altea is not a place, Altea is a people. 

The White Lion- This is one of my biggest crack theories, but I think Honerva might have stolen the White Lion from Oriande. Even if it’s not true, we’re definitely going to see more to do with magic / alchemy in s8. 

Multi-mecha fight(s)- this one is straight up hopes and wishes. I would love to see a 3-way fight between Voltron, Sincline, and Komarcha (lmfao the mystery Altean Komar mecha needed a name). Plus we’ve got Atlas (and I hope an army of Komarchas) to consider as well. 

MFE-Ares Upgrade- They’re battery life was a plot point multiple times in s7. If those ships are going to be prominent fighters they’re going to need to resolve the need to return to the Atlas mid-battle.

anyway i headcanon that MFE-Ares ends up with some pretty significant hearing loss after the war which is a combination of projection and actual goddamn fact and i just want y’all to imagine like,, ten years down the line the crew meets up for a night out & someone’s offhandedly like “man, my ears just never stop ringing” which turns into an impromptu bonding session bc Nadia (an ADHD babe who 100% had weird tinnitus-y stuff even before the war) is like “wait i’m not the only one who literally no longer hears silence?” and yes,,, i love they.......

this is basically your ultimate source of leifsdottir pictures, from me to you! now you can draw her and write about her appearance easily! (and the pictures are in order too, oh wow!)(even though tumblr messed up the order and i hate to sort them out manually, oh... wow..!) 

sadly, many of these are bad quality since she often only appeared in the background😔

i did kind of just skim through the episodes so let me know if i have missed something big. there is also a time when the same launch sequence was used twice, that is why there are two basically identical ones (i made sure at least the shadows were different though hehe).

some people also noticed the possiblity that the following character is young leifsdottir. (check out this post by @parfaitinggg) this is mostly based on the similar freckles and has not been confirmed as far as i know, but i really love the “childhood friends with james” headcanon so of course i had to include these pictures too
