(me getting increasingly nervous as my wifi became as bastard, and the queue kept ticking up during the time it was behaving.)
But, for a blessing, the wifi behaved perfectly, and the snow system (well, Fray really, but I'd rather not randomly tank a trial) made it through with 0 KO's.

cassie and her dad managing roxy's dogisms? based on your stories i mean stuff like her zooms, howling / barking, allergies, sleeping in weird places etc.
Oh this is a fun one. There's so many dogisms to deal with, but in the case of managing them, it's more teaching Roxy what is and isn't okay to do, when she can do these things and accommodating for it wherever they can. Gonna put some of this under a readmore for dashboard convenience
Obviously, she can't catch ducks for any reason at the local park and she can't just randomly stat barking for funsies when they have neighbours. Her chase instinct being so high is a pain for the first one and is mostly about her building impulse control she's never particularly needed before, but the barking isn't too big of an issue. She'll bark very occasionally, and is always very tempted to when actual dogs do, but that's pretty much the exception, and making friends with local dogs is probably not the worst thing for her to be doing anyway. The howling isn't a problem at the start. It's mostly a problem when she gets too excited or is incredibly sad/lonely and just needs to vocalise it. If it wasn't so loud people on the other side of town could hear her, it'd be fine so she has to settle for little half howls instead. It's not as fun though :( They make exceptions for her though! If it's only every so often and not the middle of the night, it's fine but they have a feeling the neighbours would complain if she did it too much, hence the limits. As she settles in, and starts to feel happier about where she is, it becomes a bit more frequent though
Sad pupper whines and other such dog noises for all ranges of emotion are totally fine though. She's probably invented a few new ones for herself with the fact she can speak. Fun fact: Roxy learns fairly quickly how to combine a howl with her singing voice and she's so damn proud of it. She can howl and bark as much as she likes in the Plex ruins so with DJ making the music and a borrowed stereo CD player, she's got plenty of time and space to practice and get all the loud energy out before she goes back to the flat. They live in a flat (apartment) by the way, hence the need to not howl there or bark too much there literally everyone in the building would hear it lmao
Anyway, things like running on four legs instead of two, the tail wags, the ear swivels and stuff don't exactly need much managing, but I will say, it can be very funny. She's darting around on her fours at a park with Cassie and some asshole comes up to them to demand Cassie put her dog on a leash. Roxy stands up, stands over Cassie, very obviously dressed like anyone else hanging out at the park would be and shows only a few teeth as she asks if there's a problem here. The reactions range between horror, shock, embarrassment and anger, and some people are just very funny to surprise like this lmao. If she were taller, she could loom over them too and add the intimidation in there but she's not so the teeth snapping will have to do
Speaking of teeth! That takes some getting used to! She can't just snap her teeth at people or snarl at people that piss her off and that's the most annoying thing to her. She doesn't care to improve her impulse control that much for this, she finds it's much easier to remind people she can rip their arm off than to pretend she's 'civil' as many of these people put it. More fun too.
Something that does need some accommodating though is the need to chew. Cassie's dad makes a habit of giving her bones from the butchers to chew on and she'll sit there for hours chewing on them. The other part of this is that she's got quite big claws and likes to use them, so Cassie and her dad have a box they put scrap paper in for her to tear apart. She's now the household paper shredder. But as a back up to that since they only have so much scrap paper, Cassie's dad also sets up a board covered in sisal in her room, sort of like a cat scratch for her to run her claws through. It's not as good for her, but it works.
The zooms are a little harder to accommodate, and Cassie's dad was initially in favour of her holding them back and containing them, but has since learned that it's really not possible for her to hold off on it. He's mostly just worried so won't notice something and either break something, hurt herself, or crash into Cassie and send her flying through the wall or something. The solution is just 'avoid what sets them off until she can go outside and run around to her hearts content'. Obviously, that's not always doable, but it's the best they've got. The only time she's not allowed out on her own is when it's late or dark out because Cassie's dad worries about how safe that is. Like, sure, she can defend herself but she shouldn't have to, ya know?
Now, the sleeping in weird places isn't too much of a problem. It's not like she's an actual dog that's not allowed on the furniture (though Cassie's dad soon jokes about that once the shedding season starts if she has one) so she doesn't need to be particularly creative about it at the flat. Where this is a problem is when she's hanging out at the ruins of the Plex. Sure, it's cold as fuck in there given it's abandoned aside from animatronics, there's no heating system anymore and there's holes in the walls, but if she can find a cosy spot such as in a sunbeam from a hole in the ceiling, she absolutely will take a nap there. She's got a curfew now though and this becomes a problem when Cassie's dad comes to find her and they've all fucking lost her because she vanished to take a nap somewhere. Some of the Minis are with her of course, there's a rule she's not allowed to go anywhere in the Plex on her own anymore just in case something happens, but finding her can be really hard sometimes. It's like a needle in a haystack and Cassie's dad has had to talk to her a lot about disappearing like that and not getting home before her curfew. She normally either goes quiet or says she was home and every time she does that, he gets a little sad she doesn't see the flat as her home too yet. But he supposes it's a little difficult when her first home was the only life she'd ever known until very recently so he's not about to grill her about it or anything. If she wants to talk about how she's feeling about all of that he just makes sure she knows the door is open for her to talk to him. Thankfully, she doesn't miss her curfew that much. It helps that it's only ten minutes before they normally have dinner. She likes her food too much to not be there for it, ya know?
Anyway, yeah, there's only a few things they have to sort of support her with while she learns to keep a lid on it, they try to accommodate her as much as possible. And a lot of things that come up are double sided too. She starts slowly getting more and more protective of her room, something that can be attributed to a wolf's territorial nature, but that also means she's starting to value the space more and starting to see it more as her own space that belongs to her. And all they need to do to not stress her out over it is to just. Not go in there without her permission anyway. Which they weren't really doing all that often anyway (just on occasion, like if someone was vacuuming or whatever) so it's not like it's too big of a problem. All she has to do when these things start to bug her is tell Cassie's dad when these things start getting to her and it's totally fine. (Though that is another issue all on its own but that's not for this post) The goal here for Cassie's dad isn't to have her be 'normal' or anything, it's just to make sure she's comfortable in her own fluff while she grows into the world she's in now. And thus, he needs to make sure her second home (as Roxy has decided it to be) is as comfortable, safe and accommodating to her as possible, as he feels is his job as a parent. (Even if neither he or Roxy have always seen him as such)
Yeah... on that last note, Cassie's dad is gonna eventually be the proud father of both Cassie and Roxy. Just... a bit of a slow transition into that I'd say. For a million and one reasons.

I remember not planning on watching this version when the first teaser dropped because I thought it'd be too dark for a HYD adaptation, but I was proven wrong. It is the best take in the story even if the Taiwanese version is iconic and my bias for nostalgia reasons (funny that I'm on the same age as those who the Chinese version is for, and watched it first bc I was a fan of Shen Yue due to ALSB, but I only started loving HYD bc of the Taiwanese version).
The writing and casting is just great and even the way they made their F4 sing reminds me of the og Taiwanese F4 boyband which the Chinese version tried to be.
The Korean version however is just the worst with reducing Domyouji as the 2nd lead in his own story and they had the guts to make Ji Hoo the soulmate lmaoo I like Kim Hyun Joong, but how dare they?? Anyway, I have yet to watch the Japanese version, but Thyme's character and redemption is ngl the best written.
In the end, although the best version yet is already decided for me, props for every version in having great F4s and soundtracks and being an icon in their respective eras.
F4 Thailand is everything Hanadan adaptations should be!
Take that, China and Korea! Their Makino is awesome and their Domyouji can compete in a psycho-off with Matsujun and Jerry Yan. MY HEART IS FULL!!!!

I love how they updated it for the digital age. When the manga came out in the early 90s. CCTV was not a thing.
Also, the bullying in this is FUCKED UP INTENSE!!!! Probably the only version I’ve seen that can compete with the Taiwanese one.
I love the way they introduce the F4 here. It’s not walking through the hallways adored - they are still adored and girls are still screaming - as they walk to beat the hell out of an innocent kid and ruin his life. Ooof.
Domyouji (called Thyme in this version) clothing taste is appropriately awful. Those clashing leopard prints are as big a crime as his bullying club. But also, I have never seen this actor in anything (I know he became famous due to 2gether which was a huge hit of a BL series, but I don’t do college fluff, not my thing) but I love him for this role. He’s got the great “psycho who would knife you for kicks” vibe.
Seriously, he is THE WORST! And it’s glorious. No studious bridge player here.
He is gonna get athlete’s foot walking in that dirty warm water.

And he walks off with his posse, leaving this whistleblower to be beaten within an inch of his life (one of his buddies off-hand mentions “leave him alive.”) That is why I never thought any of the four were OK and Makino’s starry-eyed crush on Rui was delusion - sure he doesn’t beat people up himself but neither he nor the rest of them stop their buddy from running a reign of terror and actually assist him. Also mmmm the hypocrisy!

grahhhh I've been diseased by skykid anatomy. I'll probably do a ton of tweaks but idk ive been thinking about it a LOT.

rambles below the cut. I'm open to hearing different headcanons! I'm trying to sort things out for lore purposes and idk. its hard having only one brain
so I've seen a ton of different headcanons regarding skykids and their inner workings and it's no secret that skykids have a core where they store all their light, along with wedges along their back for flight. the primary headcanon I've heard about is that skykids are beings made of clay with light as the rest of them, so it's like their soul is encased in a skykid-shaped clay. while that headcanon is cool and all, i wanted to make my skykids closer to human anatomy because human anatomy bangs, and I just need their bones to be breakable for lore purposes ok ? right then.
overall i just think having them keep most organs (maybe having an extra few for the purposes of light, actually) but then having their blood be light instead was my best bet. i didn't want them to be too simple, and. i wanted them to be sturdy. idk. that's just my two cents though, I'm really not great at explaining this stuff in a coherent way </3
i have my own ideas on krillkids but I'll have to do a sketch for them too. meteor technically is a krillkid hybrid but i got lazy and did fullblood skykid anatomy on him sob

Boss Venti phase 1 ref
Eye of the Storm Illustration
So I decided to update the concept design for this and made it a bit more cohesive. The idea was to have some sort of restrictive elements be more visible to contrast the more chaotic concept of the boss fight
I also tried showing more visible consequences on his body with how his form itself gets slowly stripped along with the corruption and would get worse on the 2nd phase of the fight where he'd be at his most vulnerable. The idea was kinda inspired by what happens to Kiana while trying to shut off a bomb during the animated short Meteoric Salvation in HI3
The two "shells" surrounding him were also softened a bit and made to look like they'd fit together now and matches the overall color palette. Tried to make them look more like hands that would be able to hide him
You can see that I also added the long strip of cloth he has in a couple versions of his archon outfit. I took the idea from an OC of mine designed after typhoons where the trailing end resembles a small cyclone and also just wanted to incorporate some parts of the scrapped Ideas from the old design
And finally, I've changed the top to have the Anemo symbol and made it look like it's grabbing his chest and the smaller one on the collar look like a hand wrapped around his throat. I wanted something in the design to connect with the boss fight's concept where his own element ends up harming him as it tries to get rid of the taint he got. Kinda like how someone's immune system ends up working to their detriment while trying to get rid of something

• malls - the lighting makes my brain malfunction in a terrifying way for some reason
• mold room at work - there's always mold growing in there and it smells bad
• theme parks - I can't fully explain this one but when i'm in a theme park I feel like a sim that just got a notification about a meteor heading straight towards me

Reality shifting, a practice based on the belief that individuals can consciously transfer their awareness to alternate realities or dimensions, has long been a niche concept within spiritual and metaphysical circles. However, with the rise of TikTok and the emergence of "Shiftok"—a blend of "shifting" and "TikTok"—this once-obscure practice has surged into mainstream awareness, particularly among younger audiences.

I originally intented to make a simple rant-like post called "my hatred of shiftok" where i explain a story that happened to me that caused me to despise this platform and everything it stood for.
But then i realised that making an objective, educational, informative essay about how toxic, culty and overall nasty the platform became for the reputation of the practice and the community was much more appropriate than a poorly written post .

As Shiftok gained momentum, it initially had a positive impact on the broader reality-shifting community. The increased visibility brought about by viral TikTok videos led to a surge of interest in the practice, drawing in thousands of new enthusiasts. This influx of newcomers energized the community, sparking discussions, fostering creativity, and expanding the collective knowledge base.
The platform also facilitated unprecedented levels of community engagement. Shifters from around the world could easily connect, share experiences, and offer support to one another through comments, duets, and collaborative videos. For those who felt isolated or misunderstood in their offline lives, this sense of community was particularly valuable, providing a space where they could freely discuss their shifting experiences and beliefs.
Moreover, Shiftok became a hub for sharing diverse experiences and methods related to reality shifting. Creators competed to produce the most engaging content, leading to an explosion of creativity in how shifting techniques were presented and explained. From guided meditations set to trending sounds to elaborate "POV" (point of view) scenarios depicting life in desired realities, the content on Shiftok was varied and dynamic.
However, the rapid growth and popularization of reality shifting through Shiftok soon revealed its double-edged nature. While it brought unprecedented attention and growth to the practice, it also set the stage for significant challenges that would reshape the reality-shifting community in profound and sometimes problematic ways. The very factors that contributed to Shiftok's meteoric rise—its accessibility, algorithmic amplification, and appeal to young users—would also play a role in the issues that emerged as the trend continued to evolve.
III-Negative Effects on the Reality Shifting Community
The meteoric rise of Shiftok, which initially invigorated the reality-shifting community, soon gave way to a host of negative consequences that profoundly impacted the practice and its practitioners. As the trend gained momentum, the integrity of the shifting community began to erode under the pressures of misinformation, oversimplification, and rampant commercialization.
One of the most significant issues was the rapid spread of misinformation. The viral nature of TikTok, coupled with the absence of robust fact-checking mechanisms, created an environment where unverified claims and exaggerated experiences could proliferate unchecked. Users, eager for views and followers, often shared sensationalized accounts of their shifting experiences, blurring the line between genuine practices and fantasy. While these trends were engaging for viewers, they frequently misrepresented the nature of reality shifting, leading to confusion and unrealistic expectations among newcomers to the practice.
Another detrimental effect of Shiftok's influence was the oversimplification of shifting techniques. The platform's short-form video format necessitated the distillation of complex practices into brief, easily digestible content. This led to a proliferation of "quick and easy" methods that promised results with minimal effort or understanding. While these simplified techniques made shifting seem more accessible, they neglected the nuances and deeper aspects of the practice.
This oversimplification had far-reaching consequences. Many newcomers, drawn by the promise of instant results, became frustrated when their experiences did not match the effortless successes portrayed in viral videos. The more traditional, in-depth practices that required patience, dedication, and self-reflection were often overlooked in favor of these quick-fix solutions. This shift in focus threatened to undermine the spiritual and personal growth aspects that many long-time practitioners viewed as integral to the shifting experience.
Perhaps the most troubling development was the increasing commercialization and exploitation of the reality-shifting community. As Shiftok content gained popularity, a new breed of "shifting influencers" emerged, eager to capitalize on the trend. This led to the monetization of shifting content through sponsorships, merchandise, and paid services. While some creators genuinely aimed to help and educate, others saw an opportunity for profit, selling dubious products like "shifting crystals" or "dimensional jump sprays" with little regard for their efficacy or the potential impact on vulnerable users.
The rise of influencer culture within the shifting community also fostered an environment where popularity and engagement metrics often took precedence over the quality or accuracy of information shared. This created a perverse incentive structure where creators were rewarded for producing sensational or controversial content rather than focusing on responsible, well-researched information.
These negative effects collectively undermined the foundations of the reality-shifting community. What had once been a practice rooted in personal exploration and spiritual growth was at risk of being reduced to a commercialized trend, divorced from its original intent and values. The influx of misinformation, coupled with the oversimplification of techniques and the exploitation of practitioners, threatened to dilute the authenticity of the practice and alienate serious practitioners.
As these issues came to the forefront, they set the stage for broader impacts on both the external perception of reality shifting and the internal dynamics of the community itself. The once-unified community began to fragment, grappling with questions of authenticity, methodology, and the very nature of reality shifting in the age of viral social media trends.
IV. The Dark Side of Shiftok: Toxicity, Pressure, and Dogma in the Reality Shifting Community
The meteoric rise of reality shifting on TikTok, while bringing unprecedented attention to the practice, also uncovered a darker, more insidious aspect within the community. This phenomenon, commonly referred to as "Shiftok," became a breeding ground for toxicity, misinformation, and oppressive dogma, threatening the very essence of what many considered a deeply personal and transformative practice.
One of the most troubling developments within Shiftok was the emergence of arbitrary and often harmful age-related pressures. Which is something totally valid and proves that those individuals do not know anything about the practice at all.
Honestly i cannot blame when antishifters claim that reality shifting is a cult since it is all they see and are being shown. People dismissing their pain under a toxic positive statement of “you haven't tried harder”or “just believe more” coupled with contradictory and hypocritical statements, makes it impossible to break free from those stereotypes.

Since I asked you about Sephiroth, I also wanted to ask about what you think of Aerith’s character and her characterization throughout the franchise.
Hhh oh god. Yeah.
So, again, Aerith begins in Final Fantasy VII as a seemingly intentional semi-subversion of the Princess Holy Maiden White Mage JRPG trope.
Mechanically she is absolutely a classic white mage, but she's also a street kid with way more life experience than Cloud, who both connects instantly with him due to his similarities with Zack, her dead ex (because, of course, Cloud is directly copying Zack's entire personality), but she also notably pushes back against him, and repeatedly refuses to let him treat her like a damsel in distress, and takes direct agency over where the story is going and what's going to happen.
As she becomes more and more conscious of her Magic Special Lineage, she changes, of course, and... arguably falls a bit more into a straight rendition of the Holy Maiden trope. Albeit I have always quite loved the reveal that Aerith isn't killed by Sephiroth just as a big tragic fridging to advance the story through Cloud's pain, but as an intentional gambit on her part to ultimately defeat the villain. The translation of the game is famously a bit wonky, but my reading of the story is that she
realizes that Sephiroth is manipulating Cloud as his primary agent in the world and that she needs to get away from him
realizes that in order to cast Holy and defeat Meteor she needs to enter the Lifestream, so
she manipulates Jenova/Sephiroth into killing her in the one place on the Planet that has the strongest connection with the Ancients so she can take advantage of their knowledge to figure out how to make Holy work.
It also kinda seems to me like she realizes that Cloud is the best chance the planet has of a champion who can defeat Sephiroth and unblock the Lifestream for the Holy spell, and maybe she sacrifices herself in part in the hopes of breaking Cloud out of Sephiroth's influence. which, yeah, that is definitely some fridging-trope nonsense.
The original game absolutely isn't perfect on how it handles it, but Aerith is (especially for the late 90s) a remarkably active player in the story, with a lot of agency entirely separate from the male protagonist, who comes into a role that requires her to separate herself from the main party and go off to set her own plans into motion.
I am overall less fond of how she got portrayed in media after the original FF7, where she really did seem to get boxed into an entirely unironic Holy Maiden trope - especially by Advent Children which casts her as a literal lover/mother to Cloud, whose especially pure and holy influence heals the blight of Geostigma once her darling Cloud overcomes his personal conflict. And certainly, a lot of portrayals of Aerith I've seen tend to focus way more on her mystical, divine Cetra Chosen One-ness than on her actual upbringing as a scrappy sassy street kid.
The Remake games... have generally walked the line okay, I think? Aerith with the steel chair might genuinely be my favourite gif from any videogame ever,

although I do feel like her portrayal in those games make her a bit too much of a Love Interest To The Protagonist character. I feel the balance in the original focused a lot more on her coming into an understanding of her role in the story separate from her attachment to Cloud, but I also have massive nostalgia glasses on my face about Final Fantasy VII, so I recognize that I am biased here.
I'm curious how the Remake trilogy, which is a wild metacommentary on the legacy of its own original, will ultimately handle her, and I really do hope it doesn't confuse the idea of a "good ending" for Aerith with the idea of being romantically paired up to a male character, or with the idea of literal or metaphorical motherhood or some other bioessentialist nonsense.

1st one, not much yet, im also making a separate post bc someone else asked me to talk abt that more 🥺

anyway, basically hylian courting is a lot shorter, think “lesbians with the uhaul” type of energy, like sort of the classical medieval “does thee wish to pursue marriage with this one?” ← how hylians ask u out for the first time lmao
if it helps, they do tend to get to know one another well, talking about morals/kids/life goals/preferred lifestyle/house/etc. pretty clearly and quickly, then using the in between time to sort of stew on that information
id say the total time is sort of something like 6 months? maybe 3/4 if they're really compatible
(so bc i love interpreting video game logic for real world building, I actually blame this on how fast Zelda/link get together in games despite having sometimes never met before that moment lol)
like i said, ill be posting about this later

pretty basic, just saying we don't really see hylians in big groups, despite the organizations they form, like kingdoms/knights or on a more personal level, towns/families/etc.
(once again, in-game appearances/video game logic translated to real life to draw these conclusions)
like not only are family units pretty small, like nuclear family setup, with like 2 parents and 2 kids, or single parent 1 kid type of situation, but the towns or collections of these families arent very big either
hylians kind of use their government the way it was intended lmao?
like the villages and towns matter more for everyday decisions than the kingdom/royalty, like Zelda would esstientally just be the mayor of Castle Town for those constant decisions,
while occasionally is called on to make decisions like for several towns or like is a natural disaster happens
meanwhile humans are, in comparison, in Way Bigger groups, both on an organization scale, and a personal scale
like u have all these specific branches of government, whereas im sure the population difference doesn't help,
and on a personal level, humans can easily have like multiple parents, lots of siblings, and once u combine that with each parent having family too, and those families like to meet up? All together??
yeah, itd look insane to any hylians (who’s smaller extended family may just make up their own village and that's it)
3. I've touched on this
like the use of spices, syrups, seasonings, etc
but also the complexity of dishes too, like chilling cream and mixing it for awhile to make ice cream, or even just getting ordering a pizza,
that's a lot of processing, like making the dough from flour and other ingredients, to letting it rise, to making the tomato paste, making cheese, then combining those things with any other toppings, all into one dish??
i like to think that hylians have only just started to touch on actual complicated cooking processes (as in BOTW, where they sell flour and salt, so people besides Link/Wild must know what to do with it)
this has the advantage of impressing any hylian with what a “creative genius” you are lol
4. look im just a fan of medieval time periods Links
so i think its funny if the hylians are used to like 4/3 layers and ur over here like, “wym, if i take off my shirt there's nothing underneath?”
one of them gets bold enough to ask, “d-do you not. do you not have undergarments??”
you “just my boxers? like just to cover my di-”
also this makes its easy to seduce people here? LMAO
clothes are def higher quality, after all there's not as many artificial processes or materials interfering,
plus u usually get some sick embroidery on it too!!
5. so like i get it, Link is the main fighter in games
but like, the few times there is a war/army in loz games, there's rlly not a lot of strategy, beyond just finding the enemy and fighting
tho im partial to that hylians/most inhabitants of Hyrule abide by the “lets meet up either literally by inviting each other or just between our territories to fight”
with occasional guerilla warfare (by any means necessary/stealth/ambush attacks/strategy) that's only rlly used either by Demise/Ganon, or by the wilder individuals/races in games
or maybe even the more civilized fighters in an emergency
and so that means by this logic that all of the Chain use kind of wild techniques compared to their race/kingdom lmao
id imagine its not too surprising to also see “every fight is a bar fight if its for my life” from individual travelers, so im sure they're not viewed too crazy (esp when ppl know their the hero that constantly has to deal with guerilla warfare from Ganon)
but its be hilarious to watch the reactions of both the Links realizing they’re in a bigger group that should be using “proper” fighting strategies and seeing the general publics reaction to this absolutely feral, armed to the teeth, trained hylians with their equally wild human lol
LMAO everyone thinks ur the reason they started using the more brutal fighting methods bc ur human, ur a bad influence lol
(humans would use it primarily, esp after we converted to use that method in warfare a couple hundred years ago i think?)
changing course a bit, hylians tend to use weapons (to compensate for difference in strength compared to humans, and since they don't experience/get a lesser version of adrenaline)
while humans tend to equally rely on weapons and our body as a weapon (marital arts/basic self-defense)
6. this is mostly bc the hylians only rlly seem to have the basics of music, books/stories, theater, and art
i have, surprise surprise, another post abt how i think this came to be,
mostly based on how human curiosity is indomitable and insatiable and the endless force that has not yet met its immovable object.
or at least an immovable object they haven't at least poked a little, out of curiosity lol
like we went to space for that reason, we reach the most dangerous corners of our planet (deep underwater/volcanoes) out of sheer curiousity/for the sake of simple knowledge of the thing
so needless to say, curiosity can absolutely drive any field to its limits, including the arts, which is why we can have stained glass, or movies/tv shows, hell, the marvel that is Hatsune Miku lmao
(fully for entertainment, a projection of light and sound, what is essentially magical illusions but u did it hte hard way, to the hylians)
on a different entertainment related note, i don't know if the hylians would be super into sports, or not really at all? mostly bc they have to use their fighting/training against real threats, not the sort of “fake” threats that sports are
but on the other hand i could see people like knights wanting to use their abilities for something other than violence and fighting bc their life or their villages lives depended on it
bet the Links would enjoy it for those reasons especially, what with at least sumo wrestling being a sport or activity for them at some point in history, and practically beg u for any new games to play, or to ref their games, bc whewwww
im sure they could get pretty competitive lol
7. obviously, their mostly influenced by the Japanese language
id almost like to imagine a sort of, if not outright Japanese (like with earlier heroes like Sky) then a sort of English-Japanese hybrid further along the line
sort of like how English has German/Greek/Latin roots and therefore u can see what words or structure comes from where, or even how u can understand a fair amount of basic words when other languages share the same roots (english, pants = spanish, pantalones)
would make for some funny miscommunications
or even better, most hylians liking ur unique accent or the Links love to hear u talk bc of it lol

I was idly and sort of jokingly thinking that if I’m going to write a Zexion and Saïx rivalry they need to have matching symbolism somewhere and so I thought “Saïx is moon-coded, does Zexion have any celestial body symbolism?” and the answer is YES ACTUALLY, he’s associated with meteors. They don’t appear in Chain of Memories, but they’re part of his desperation move in kh2, it’s his Limit Break in 358/2 Days, it’s the attack on certain Zexion medals in KHUx, and it’s the attack that his card gives in Dark Road; overall, it’s the one consistency across his incredibly varied movesets.
so then I thought “man, I need to draw Zexion with some meteors, that’d be cool…”
then I remembered that in kingdom hearts as a whole, meteor showers are signs that a world’s borders have fallen, and it's become more susceptible to heartless, which, in kh1 at least, meant it was only a matter of time before the world's heart was devoured and it fell into darkness completely.
and then what Ansem says in Secret Report #2... (emphasis mine) "Spurred on by my youngest apprentice, Ienzo, I constructed a massive laboratory in the basement of my castle"...
not necessarily the catalyst, but a sign of the beginning of the end. Ienzo, Zexion, shooting stars and meteor showers, lost innocence, signs of wishes turned into signs of destruction. His quotes during the Meteor Mirage limit break are "You think you can be forgiven?!" and "You've brought it upon yourself!" I'm sure he's fine and likewise I'm also fine I'm normal I can be trusted with this symbolism

Jakehal is very fun. But why dirkkri? I dont understand what's appealing about it :? confused
theres a lot of things i like about dirkri and honestly i dont even know where to start lmfao
first of all, and its mostly a funny reason - davekat on crack. like some traces of davekat are still there - the arguing about shit, stoic facade vs emotional mess, all the good stuff, but its also so much more exaggerated it makes it this much more ridiculous. gets even better when you consider them under the lense of swap aus like alphaswitch or tbau, where they land on the meteor together. theyre most likely hunting each other for sports by the year two
second of all, the funney. theyd be so fucking funny together. their smallest arguments would take like twenty pages of non-stop flow of red-orange text to resolve, and not because they came to a consensus but because some third party physically dragged them away from their electronics. it doesnt do any good, since it only gives them both time to think over new arguments to use, and theyre back at it as soon as they get their phones back. like if we had a tournament about which ship would do the most collateral damage to the overall group, i think these two would be Up There. karkat would gauge his eyes out from frustration, because now not only does he have to deal with his piece of shit, know-it-all other self, but now theres also Fucking Dirk thrown into the mix. their home life is absolute insanity, a small jab about the other forgetting to buy sugar once again devolves into a screaming match about the merits and flaws of communism or some other inane shit. and theyre doing it for fun, they enjoy debating with each other, because often times they have vastly different opinions, and comparing their beliefs challenges them intelectually and morally. from the outside perspective theyre one of the most dysfunctional pair in the paradox space, when in fact thats simply how they want their relationship to be, and it makes them better people overall.
third reason is that theyre thematically delicious. dirk is a control freak, micromanaging his and his friends constantly. hes terrified of losing control, but hes also desperate for someone to just tell him what the fuck he should do. dirk doesnt think he should be in control of others, because he believes hes a naturally evil person capable of horrible acts, at the same time he doesnt trust anyone else to get things done but himself. hes a whole collection of contradictions.
kankri desperately needs to be in control as well. hes constantly injecting himself into conversations he has no business being in, trying to find someone thatd listen to what he has to say. hes wants to guide others, but his efforts are flawed, because he doesnt listen to other perspectives - hes got tunnel vision, as he thinks hes the one in the right while everyone else is wrong or ignorant (cringefail seer literally). he doesnt trust anyone else to make decisions for him, and becomes defensive when he thinks others are attempting to coddle him. his ass was definitely culled on beforus.
theyre also both so fucking lonely. dirk conciously tries to put difference between himself and his friends, worrying hell "corrupt" them. kankri tries to connect to his friends, but his behavior alienates him from them to the point of no one except maybe porrim want to have anything to do with him.
my point is, kankri wants to guide people but has to learn to listen to others and reflect on his own flawed opinions. dirk has to learn to trust that people closest to him can get shit done on their own and loosen up, as well as realise hes not evil at the core. them helping each other out - dirk teaching kankri about different perspectives, kankri teaching dirk about letting others do their thing - is something i think about a lot.
also i like to think theyd spar for fun a lot as well. its not really a reason and wholly my own personal headcanon but i wanna mention it as well bc its so funny to me. i like the idea of kankris behaviour being a complete reverse of karkat - where karkat is all bark no bite and doesnt like fighting or violence, kankri puts up a front of the beacon of love and peace and tolerance, but in his free time he gets his rifle and goes shooting at the fucking squirrels or some shit. i think he wouldnt have the same qualms about strifing as karkat. like dirk would try to jokingly jab his finger at kankris side and he would just fucking flip him over his shoulder and onto the table breaking it in half, because he doesnt like being touched unexpectedly and by gods dirk when will you fucking learn. he goes from 0 to 100 real fast. its such a hysterical concept for me.

this one is illumi,
illumi realizing he’s in love but there is internal conflict within himself not just due to his family but his own emotions and thought if he can even bring balances / if he was what you want. A lil Angst and comfort? You can change it around and everything if ya want I don’t mind. I just like givin prompts lol. And if you’ve done illumi for a similar request or exact same can you do meruem , shalnark or Franklin if you write any of them.
Ooh, I have no idea if I had a similar request because I wrote so much and forgot to update my masterlist haha! However, I'll just write some for all of the characters because why not. Thank you for the request!
Illumi, Shalnark, Franklin, Meruem — Internal Conflict about love
Illumi
Unless you were arranged to marry him, he will be in a serious conflict with himself. Sure, the Zoldycks need a good heir, but Illumi knows himself that he's not meant for the title of Zoldyck head. Because of this, he probably has a bad thought that he shouldn't have interest in a love interest or *gasp* marriage. However, here he is wondering why his heart beats when you talk to him, why he can't see you getting hurt (unless it's training but :/)
I feel like, in a horrible sense, his first instinct is to try and kill you. If you're gone that means he won't have to go through the hurdles he has every night thinking about you. But he can't bring himself to do it. If it gets to the point he can't bear it, he might go through with it
He won't dare bring it up to his mother or father, but if his grandfather realize something's up he might have to talk to him. Zeno is definitely the more chill guy in the family, which means Illumi might be able to convince you to join the Zoldycks if you weren't invited already. The hardest obstacle would be Kikyo, but that's for later
Overall I feel like you would be able to see the internal conflict more than he would like to admit. He's staring at you for really long (concerningly long) times, he talks to you even harsher than before, etc. If you want to live, either cut ties with him or try to convince him love isn't a bad thing
Shalnark
I feel like he doesn't actually mind love that much, he just gets conflicted if you're a civilian or if you're someone he targeted originally. Think enemies to lovers
He would also try to murder you :/ but he might consult Chrollo first. Shalnark will never tell anyone about his crush, especially Feitan or Phinks. However, Chrollo is a mediator for the team and ultimately the only person in the troupe that probably knows what romance is (but it's only from books haha). This means you might be saved by Chrollo's recommendation to Shalnark that love isn't bad
Shalnark will be frank with you on his occupation as a world-renowned criminal. He doesn't want you to fall in love with someone who isn't him, and he wants to give you one more chance before he wants you to be his. If you leave, that means he'll just go on with his daily life. However, if you decide to stay, he might force you to move to Meteor City for "your safety"
You'll not be able to tell he's conflicted because of how he's just so good at hiding emotions. He's smiling, laughing as he usually does. However, something's off. You can tell he's watching you more intently than before while you're back is turned, almost like he's debating throwing a needle in your head.
Franklin
He's honestly also super chill about love, like it's hard to find him conflicted. However, the only time he would be conflicted would be if he found out you're just a regular civilian who could be subject to unneeded visitors from the Hunter Association or the mafia. He doesn't want to see you get hurt
Won't resort to violence! He'll sit down and talk to himself before talking to Chrollo about the matter. Similar to Shalnark's logic, Chrollo's the counselor and leader of the team. He wants to know if he should tell you about his feelings or if it's better for your well-being to not say anything.
Franklin eventually tells you. He tells you in a secluded and quiet environment just what he really does. He tells you he understands if you disagree with him, if you want to run away and tell the police (though this means he might have to resort to violence), but in the end he wants you to be safe. If you leave, that'll be the end of you two's relationship. If you stay, he'll be grateful and tell you he'll always make sure you're safe.
You could probably tell he liked you and had this internal conflict. He started to blush more and he would be quiet around you more than he did before. If you ask him before his big reveal, he'll originally deny these feelings
Meruem
Assuming you're Komugi, he goes through the entire Chimera Ant Arc and doesn't tell you until you two are literally dying :/
However! If you aren't the gungi genius then how this starts might've been similar. Meruem might've had you explain some human concepts to him or maybe he kept you around because it seemed like you had potential for something the ants would need. Nonetheless, his feelings were pure accident.
This leads to him having a conflict that all the rest of the royal guards can see. Pitou won't really mind the king's sudden interest in you, though Pitou might feel it's a little strange how such a weak person like you stayed alive for more than a few hours next to Meruem. Then there's Youpi, who could care less about who the king likes. This guy thinks as long as you aren't a threat to the king's power, no worries. The issue is Pouf. He'll try to convince Meruem you're worthless and whenever Meruem goes through the "should-I-kill-y/n" Pouf will advocate for your death :/. Meruem finds himself never following through this though, so at some point he just stops asking out loud
You will see the conflict in real time, also hear from him about his emotions. He doesn't actually tell you he loves you since he doesn't really know what "love" means. He'll tell you what he's feeling, and then tell you with no corners cut that sometimes he feels like he should kill you (seriously what is with these ants). Give him some time, he'll learn eventually that he's going through a crush and nothing that will kill him (until Netero happens but -_-)
