the bard in the field: autoethnography as alchemy in the age of collapse

hi. i’m solara bell. bard. oracle. scholar of the liminal. i don’t share what i’ve studied. i become the study.

in this post (and the ones to come), i’m offering what i call bardic autoethnography—field notes from a life lived at the intersection of eros, scholarship, divinity, and collapse. this is a body of work about embodiment.

🌍✍🏾🧬 my heartbreaks are data. my orgasms, curriculum. every dream, a lecture. i walk between timelines as both witness and transmitter. my life is a dissertation in motion—and i’ve decided it’s worthy of distinction.

📡🧠💗 this isn’t a memoir. this is a field report from the folds of frequency and the edges of form. my method is intimacy. my theory is eros. my ethics say no data is neutral—and the most powerful information is personal.

what if academic rigor includes divine pleasure? what if archiving a love affair becomes a study in planetary healing? what if your “mess” is actually an encoded upgrade?

this is where the sacred meets the scholarly. this is where we make our own canon.

Mysticism should not only be interpreted as a significant phenomenon of intellectual and religious history, but as the awakening of the religious feeling concerning nature. Perhaps certain symbolic interpretations have receded into the background of our rationally calculated world, since everything that cannot be empirically proven is dismissed as a phantasm. But if the human being separates himself from his collective deep consciousness, he lacks a decisive possibility to (re-)connect with deep collective consciousness. Mysticism has the aim to deepen the soul for religion and art, a poignant love unparalleled in the world/s of appearances. Dwelling in a cosmic strive for connecting with God and the Divine Energy, without the profanity of manifestation in images, but in a astonishing cognitive emotionality. Through the art of inner liturgy it can be possible to trace the ontological search for the human’s home. The eternal questions, like fixed stars above the head of the dust born, have been no less relevant since the first question, and yet have not come closer to the truth, which is always in progress and false, when decorated as stored and captured. And don't we notice with every achievement how our collected knowledge is revised in the cosmic expanses? That we are almost forced to think outside the box and to regard regularity in chaos as an illusion? The cosmic rift is not only dividing humanity from the cosmos, it divided man from himself and thus also human beings from each other. In the centre of revelation, which is common in all mystic practices: learning and learning to know the self, in order to understand more.

"What the Storm Couldn't Bury" A study in memory, refusal, and unresolved sky

can't stop thinking about lila and nino's time in the shoe shop for no particular reason (lie), but she brought books to that shop... the whole affair started by the sea... the books, the shoes, the sea... all symbols of lila's childhood that have been morphed into something else, something eerie and adult, and she attached their original shape and meaning to nino, just like she has always done with elena, because he was supposed to be her way back to these things, if only indirectly, if only the small way she could possess them again existed in watching him have them. and i've mentioned this to mal the other day, but the heart of this relationship is based on a cruel contradiction: on one hand it is an attempt to reestablish childhood innocence (the books, the shoes, the sea in their original fairytale, dream-like form), but on the other hand it's overwhelmingly defined by adult themes like adultery and sex (melina and donato's relationship) it's a warped perspective on both childhood and adulthood ultimately. it's got the spirit of each right, but the motifs are all wrong, like they've crossed to the wrong side of the timeline. so, in many ways, nino, to lila, exists as both the essence of elena and rino, the gods of her childhood, and as the essence of marcello and stefano, figures tied to her brutal push into adulthood. and lila is already an extreme example of adult motifs crossing into childhood's territory so when nino appears, her understanding of sex and adultery hasn't been sugarcoated, but is rather present in, not the only possible form sex and adultery can exist in, but certainly in one of their truest forms, vulgar and dangerous in their banality. (thanks to stefano and melina and donato respectively) thanks to that, lila's relationship with nino can't be a new beginning because it's only a response to preexisting experiences and everything good about it is only good because it's better than something that happened before, but ultimately it stays within the circle it appears to be rebelling against.

[ trying to describe the synchronicity highway is difficult — it's like trying to bite your own teeth. you move and stand still at the same time. road signs zoom past before you can read them, but you know where you're going without ever having traveled this way before. having said that, i'm lost again. which — as all experienced cosmic travelers know — is exactly how it should be. i've let myself be hypnotized by the steady hum of traffic, but now i'm emerging into an awareness of self somewhere near the turnoff to my next destination. it's all up to me from here. makes me wish i'd learned how to bloody drive, really... ]
