ive started marking passages whenever theres a drarry (aka any sort of interaction or harry observing draco) moments and i think i deserve compensation for my work bc harry would not Shut The Fuck Up abt this boy the minute he enters hogwarts jesus christ, im gonna run out of my first batch of sticky tabs
something is happening? i now have to know dracos reaction about it. doesnt matter if hes doing the loud theatrics over his table(WHICH IS FAR AWAY FROM GRYFFINDORS) or just reacting by himself, harry will Make the readers know what it is no matter what. like seriously do i really have to know that pansy was worrying over dracos injury and that when she looks away draco is winking over crabbe and goyle?? harry please focus on ur potions
also started to realize that ron reacts more violently whenever draco is talking as opposed to harry, which is pretty wild to me cuz harry Is capable of feeling hatred, he doesnt shy away from hating snape in his mind and being snippy about it, but draco being an annoying little prat gets like Maybe a small flicker of annoyance. he seems to be more busy trying not to look embarrassing in front of him for some reason (the first dementor incident, when he received his valentine letter and sees draco in the audience, not wanting to go to hospital wing like boy who cares what draco will think???? my god)
#meta speaking ik its a#'oh what is this evil antagonist doing' thing#but if i just read it normally id think harry is a kid with weird fucking priorities#i dont need to know this much details abt ur petty bully thanks#yumes hp reads#drarry

finally got kazuha in the alt. i forgot it was july already so the stardust shop reset. probably wouldn't have made it otherwise. he came home at exactly 75 pity
#⇢₊˚⊹ 🩷∥ruby∥yo,ide yo !!#it's at least an improvement over my main where i got him at 80 pity#now i'm kinda torn on whether to pull on the next banner#i do want mika and thoma on the alt. i already have both on main so i'm probably just gonna skip there#i'll try pulling for eula cuz why not#i like klee she's just adorable#and i kinda want to fill my profile with an even split of cryo/pyro namecards and the color of klee's namecard is just exactly what i need#but for me her kit doesn't feel very fun to use#i seriously have no business having any interest in eula. yet here i am. having an interest in eula#but i'm not gonna be too disappointed if i don't get her. i'll pull until i get one mika and one thoma and then stop, eula or no#god i can't wait until i get to level 90 my characters on the alt#im so tired of being a scrub doing scrub damage#speaking of which. i'm not sure whether to turn my main into the pyro chong account instead of my alt#cuz i already have way more bennett consts on main. i had to buy him from the starglitter shop on the alt#but idk... i also kinda don't wanna turn my og chong into pyro chong. i want my og chong to be the cryo king he was always meant to be#not to mention just having way more characters on main in general. and because of that i kinda dont wanna c6 bennett there for flexibility#and the alt is pretty much a pyro-cryo only account anyway just with its roster so it wouldnt matter if i activated his c6 there#off-topic but. i recently realized i'm way more meta-minded than i previously thought#ik the irony of having a meta mentality while maining chongyun. the most un-meta character ever#but this one collab between branonline and zajef made me realize that playing off-meta units doesn't necessarily indicate a non-meta player#i could be remebering it slightly wrong but what i got from it is that, meta is just making the most out of the units you use#in chong's case that would be maximizing his melt capabilities. apparently that's his strongest playstyle#(i swear im working on it)#in terms of the whole meta vs non-meta thing tho. i'm kind of a double agent#for the entire time i've played this game on main my main team has been some variation of the og national#(which i know isn't meta anymore but still)#yet i also do shit like using yoimiya's burst to proc chong melts (i also use her as a dps in her own right-#-but nobody uses her burst cuz shes always put on 4pc shim so it still counts)#(i didn't intend to triple crown yoimiya but ig now i'm gonna to enable my crack usage of her burst lol)#random but imagine using physical cyno. like his normals never get any love so why not. im gonna call that my non-meta side

should i read homestuck. like i feel it would be interesting so i could see what yall are talking about in regards to tlt but is homestuck actually good
"is homestuck good" - the greatest thread in the history of forums, locked by a moderator after 8129 pages of heated debate,
no but seriously, it highkey depends on 1. your definition of good and 2. your tolerance for stupid bullshit. as someone who read tlt and then hs, i'd say that being a fan of the chaotic aspect of tlt is a good predictor of being able to hang in with homestuck.
readmore because this. um. got long. the tl;dr is: i like homestuck a lot and i am glad i read it. i can't tell you if you should read it bc idk your tastes, but there is a lot to like and enjoy about it.
the official pitch for homestuck is something like "4 kids play a game and then a bunch of other shit happens." here's my pitch based on what the core of the story is to me:
several groups of characters across time, space, and reality are brought together in order to succeed at creating a new universe after their own are destroyed. this takes the form of a game, which is called sburb (by the humans) and sgrub (by the trolls). the characters must contend with an eternal battle against good and evil in which they are the deciding factor, and level up while following personalized quests. at its heart, homestuck is about relationships of every sort and how they shape us, growing up and the associated grief and loss, coming into ones identity and choosing who to be, predestination and fate, and stories themselves. it gets very meta at times, and the characters are semi to fully aware that they're characters, and attempt to subvert or escape that. it's got hordes of fleshed out, compelling characters, one of which will almost certainly glom onto you for the rest of your life, real emotion, extremely funny jokes, smart and exciting plotting, and some very cool moments. it more or less invented an entire new genre/medium, and plays with medium in a very cool way.
it is also clunky, hard to get into, and way too convoluted. you will never fully understand what's happening. there are tons of characters whose stories you will follow whom you simply do not care about. there are too many characters. it was written by an edgelord in 2009 so there's some unsavory humor and character writing. it's so fucking long. the ending kinda sucks because the fandom was so toxic that hussie simply wanted it over with. the fandom still kinda sucks tbh. so many people have wrong opinions about it. it requires a very specific lens to approach and understand it. i still dont understand what happened with that fucking puppet someone explain it to me.
overall, i'd say that if you think you want to read it, give it a shot. i have a complicated relationship with it but at the end of the day, i genuinely love the story and the characters and i know they will be with me forever. it certainly enhanced my understanding of tlt, and getting to read more of tamsyn's writing was such a bonus (even though her taste in pairings is. not the same as my own). and like honestly. it's just fun. even when you're going "wait what the fuck just happened" you're having fun. it's really goddamn funny too. it WILL change the way you speak and also think about romance forever.
the best way to read it is to have an experienced reader guide you, but if you or other people don't know anyone like that, here are my basic tips:
i think most people know this already, but download the unofficial homestuck collection. just do it. it's like 4 gigs and it's infinitely better than trying to read on the broken website, and it's even ad free. it can also be modded - for instance ik there's a slur replacer mod (lmao) if you don't want to read those
act 1 sucks to read. you're like what the fuck is this, THIS is homestuck?? the beginning is radically different from how it ends up, so just hang in there. for me, it really picked up somewhere in act 3. just focus on the silly fun the characters are having and you'll be good
things you should actually try to follow in the early acts: the concept of a sylladex existing (the various fetch modi are only there for jokes and eventually just kinda stop being a thing), where all the copies of the game are, what each kid's relationship with their guardian is like, the mechanics of the game and the lore behind it, including classpects and quests
things you do not have to waste brain space on: anything about how the totems work, what the various machines are, what the levels are, basically any of the jokes that would be funny to hussie's original intended audience of software engineers and rpg gamers. oh and the intermission with the midnight crew and the felt, just know that those are guys that exist and you'll be good.
and the biggest tip i have is just. go with it. suspend your disbelief. a lot of the worldbuilding doesn't really make sense, but it would be a worse story if it did. when the time shit and ectobiology come into play, literally just go ok got it and keep going, don't think too hard.
so yeah i don't even know if any of this is useful but i hope it helps you decide. and if you or anyone else have follow up questions send em!

what r ur bsd gender hcs????
oooo thank you for the ask! >:3
chuuya is transmasc i think is basically canon atp really
dazai is nb forever and ever to me
big fan of transfem kouyou + kyouka bc of meta reasons and also bc it's just fun in general
transmasc tanizaki. also a near canon one. why are you wearing a binder boy
the doa have one bit of gender they're forced to share and fukuchi hogs it most of the time (sigma is agender, fyodor doesn't care enough to figure things out, nikolai is like fyodor but in the opposite direction. bram is a vampire which is a whole gender all on its own)
speaking of i like transmasc fukuchi actually. 1 that one pic with his tits out. where are his nipples. top surgery fukuchi real? 2 i like to hc characters that express their genders in extreme ways as trans bc well. ik many trans ppl irl who do it too. so i can't help but hc any character who is basically the definition of a Manly Man as transmasc 3 i think we need to start hcing big strong guys as trans more often only then we can start healing
gin.
akutagawa is kinda like fyodor in a sense that he's probably nb but too busy with other things to figure it out rn
q! once again basically canon lol
i think that's all i have for now! 😌
otherwise i go by their canon genders. not necessarily assuming they're cis, these are just the ones i'm most passionate about! :3

TELL ME YOUR COMMUNITY THOUGHTS
oh lord okay.. im gonna give my thoughts on the last season ish because i just finished it so its what i mainly remember and its 1 am..
the anniejeff made me SO uncomfortable i dont understand why they kept pushing that when they also pushed the dad-daughter relationship throughout the show.... and the second to last episode being centered around incest was odd, not a huge fan of that..
now okay my MAIN thoughts are about abed, so here i go
i feel like in the last two seasons (maybe 4 too? i dont remember atm) abeds autistic" traits were completely stripped from him. yes they included all his "fourth wall breaking meta tv show lines" but it wasnt right.
and i understand people will eventually change/grown up but also.. you cant "fix" autistic traits so it just felt like they were trying to make his autism seem more "normal" also by making him more emotionless i realized? abed cant express himself well, which he mainly copes with by dissociating. but he just.. in the last seasons it seemed more like he DIDNT have emotions (i believe he says something like this to buzz when talking about his duck comics, along the lines of the emotions he cant feel or wtv) but this isnt right, abed is emotional, hes actually really emotional we just dont see it directly like we do with people like annie or troy..
speaking of emotions im glad they really explained that jeff was scared of change and everyone leaving at the end though, its always been known that he is, but i liked that they really Showed it
annies ending was nice i guess? she was basically just a prop for jeff though in the weird fucking fantasy he wants though??? again idk why theyre pushing that it felt so out of place and weird and ew. jeff was also uncomfortably violent in season 6, like i dont think he would ever choke abed out that made me feel so gross...
alright back to abed because hes the main one i noticed in the last seasons.
in the end where abed was talking to jeff in the bar and said like.. "ik ur comforted by this meta lens but this is reality!!" just felt wrong.. yeah abed was still meta w the whole tv show thing but that was it.. and then him saying that to jeff? its like they tried to make him this big mentor guy to jeff (idk if thats necessarily it but its all i can think of to describe it at the moment) but not in a friend way but an uncomfortable "im grown up now and ur not" way if that makes sense,, which again goes with stripping him of his autistic traits by making it seem like its completely necessary to Grow up in order to move forward in life which isnt.. its true in some ways but not in the way they portrayed it at all.. they make it seem like abed had to grow up completely in order for him to "be okay"..
i related a LOT to abed in the early seasons for Many reasons, i think they handled the abed centered episodes especially about his mental health EXTREMELY Well. (ie, abeds uncontrollable christmas) its one of the first times ive seen experiences like that in media that i can almost directly relate to yk? but after geothermal escapism its all gone, never mentioned again besides in call backs where they try to laugh it off/dismiss it..
oh my god and abeds 'girlfriend' was just sooo out of place she was mentioned like twice and then that was it.. they didnt need to do that it felt really forced
also in like season one abed sits in that fucking room for hoursss without so much as making a peep but then he looses his cool and yells at buzz in season five?? again troy just left which makes a big impact but its still smt i noticed
everyone just felt very bland in the last seasons after troy left at least… half the cast was gone, then replaced
idk im not like, ruined the show pissed at the end, but im also not a fan of s5/6 (besides like.. sum scenes, and like i mentioned earlier maybe s4 as well)
i have to binge tv shows so i dont always immediately retain all the information and i have to rewatch episodes a lot, but thats my thoughts immediately after finishing the show at 12 am, sleep deprived, and in a really bad mental health episode so theyre not well put together n shit and i wish i could remember more to go over but alas
theres my immediate thoughts,, im gonna probably sleep or restart community.. i was planning on starting interview with the vampire now but im thinking of starting black mirror so we'll see...
#ghost talks#idk if i wanna tag this...#community..#<- good enough#idk if theres much of a fandom now i dont rlly see much honestly..#plus im scared i just absolutely do NOT understand the characters and ill get stoned to death for misinterpreting them so badly#asks

on the whole kudos/comment thing. I'm an artist and I havn't posted art on instagram in 2 years, that is both og art and fanart. its not worth the 2 mins of my time to post after only to get 10ish odd likes from mostly people ik irl when I can just send it off to my friends and get wayyyyyy more personal and happy responses. yes creatives are not entitled to engament but don't be surprised when they disappear
if its not worth your time to comment then its not worth THEIR time to post.
I'll admit im a hypocrite saying this as I don't comment all the time (mixture of no internet when reading and good old mental illness leaving me with blank brain fog) but I stil try. its not a matter of which is good enough or conveince but if its a good day for me. speaking of trying while I'm here I freaking love dhd, started following from she ra but I love your orginal stuff and you're so sweet. <3
I hope people stop being rude in your ask box
Yes, I hear this a lot. Also, it seems people are willing to discuss about things with their friends or fandom fellow groups but not give the same comments to the person who created that thing. I have a personal experience of this.
Years and years ago, I used to write fanfic with an url no one knew about. It was my secret little account. I was a part of a fandom group for the said fandom I was writing these fics about. The group was lovely and active, and they openly loved to discuss about fanfics and fanart.
Whenever I wrote a fic and posted it, the very same day someone within the group noted the whole group about it. Those who wanted to read the fic went to read it, and then they eagerly discussed about the fic with each other; what did they like about it, what thoughts they had, if they had any metas or ideas of what would happen in the next chapter, how the fic had made them feel like and what was their favorite part of each chapter.
I followed these conversations without anyone knowing they were talking about my fic. It made me happy to see that what I had written was well received, and people waited for more!
Did any of these people leave me a comment on the said fic they were gushing about? No.
So, the lurker me knew that my fic was well received and liked, but the author me didn't know, because no one said anything. All the conversation was held in a private place among readers but the author was not included in it.
It would have been really easy for any of these fans of the fic just copy the same thing they had said in the private group and post it to the author me under the fic. Very easy support and a very easy way to let the author-me know that yes, this is what we wish to get more! I only know this because I was lurking in the fan group and saw these conversations.
Another experience I've got and it still keeps happening is that if I join a Discord group or any event group, there are always people who know me due FUZZY. They say that they read the comic and loved it. I have no idea just how many people actually read FUZZY, know it and liked it, because the majority seem to be lurkers who I encounter at random like this :D It's always a surprise when it happens, a happy one mind you! I don't know how many readers and fans FUZZY actually had but I think no one can really ever know the full scale of their fans and influence.
I've got IG which mainly operates now as an art gallery for those who wish to see just my art (excluding long comic updates due image limit). Engagement is small in IG and Twitter, where things are fresh for 20 second and then they are forgotten - albeit IG's positive side compared to Twitter is a better search system where you can go through old posts and like & comment them (no, it's not creepy, why the hell giving support for someone would be creepy when we talk about supporting fandom people).

I dont see Helaena cheating. I see her having feelings for Aemond both romantic and sexual in nature but I don't see her cheating. And IK people bring up the "so you don't want female characters to have agency and sexually fulfilled lives? So you think only men are allowed to cheat? So you think all people with autism are aroace robots with no interest in sex?" arguments and I believe some anti-helaemonds genuinely smack of that kind of thinking, but something it's simply: I just don't think Heleana is that kind of character from what we have gotten. Helaena not cheating doesn't mean all real woman cant ever cheat or all female characters cant ever cheat, its just in Helaena's case she does not. There are female characters who cheat, not as many as men, but they're there. I don't see why Helaena specifically not cheating would be such a big blow? Is it because of the autism? In that case the scarcity of autistic characters should be criticised IMO; we shouldn't need to make one autistic fill a niche by herself. Thats just sad tbh.
It's the only reason I don't believe anything happened between Helaemond on the show and will be very surprised if it has or will unless helaena does a 180, which IG could be a kinda fun angle - her becoming more like Aegon/a Dragon. But there's so much gonna be going on I don't know if we need this. I'm just a little sick of Aemond I guess.
Just to maybe drop a different perspective.
hey there, i want to take this opportunity to assure everyone that, with all my ranting, i'm not really a prescriptivist person, bent on shaping the way people interact with their chosen piece of media :)
so, if that's your interpretation of helaena's character, that's completely fine in my book, and you are entitled to your headcanons. don't get me wrong here, i'm not trying to police the way people consume fiction or how they like to play in their own sandboxes, lord knows there is enough room for all of us under the sun. so, if you think that she wouldn't cheat for various reasons, i'm not here to contradict your view specifically and tell you you're wrong. our opposing opinions can co-exist just fine in the space-time continuum. :))
personally speaking, i interpret their social & familial roles breaking down so much within this cycle of generational inbreeding that whatever this is doesn't even register as cheating anymore since the regular boundaries start bleeding into one another. but that's bc that's what i find a really cool idea to explore, others can and should come up with their own takes
i only take issue with a certain type of moral framework that excludes all other possible interpretations bc it doesn't fall within whatever the circulated papal bull stipulates at the moment. especially when it's over really silly stuff like this. meaning to say that other people are not stupid or badly-intentioned or sinister or secret team black sleeper agents :)) for enjoying alternative possibilities. and, i have to say, it does feel really kind of rotten when you hear how other greens talk about helaemonds like they carry the plague, bc i think there are some really lovely people in this little internet niche that could contribute in a lot of positive ways to the fandom.
i, for one, can't control how people choose to judge me for not shutting up about this (lmao this really unintentionally feels like coming out, which is absolutely ridiculous, touch-grass-levels), but i'd think it rather childish if 1. i felt force to go underground and lie about it so people wouldn't blacklist me for this dumb reason and 2. i couldn't really engage in other ways bc people formed this unfair opinion that i'm some tainted radioactive waste. i write a lot of meta on a lot on topics and i enjoy talking to a wide range of people, which is why i rarely even block, so, that's just a personal disappointment i would have as a fandom navigator.
at the end of the day, it's.... you know, whatever, as far as i'm concerned, because i have a big mouth anyway and i don't really shut up IRL either, so, in that regard i had to already teflonize myself. but i feel like a lot of users are held back from participating and being more active for fear of judgment, which is just a damn shame, as the toxic voices always tend to drown out the ones who would really help turn this place into a more pleasant experience for everyone
so, what can i say, i'm a big softie, y'all

Speaking of jcs, can I have a rating of the musicals/ different versions?
HOWDY, IM SO GLAD YOU ASKED.
keep in mind ive only watched a handful of recordings or productions compared to other ppl but i do have Opinions on the ones ive watched. [cracks knuckles] so:
1. biased maybe because i just watched it but the 50th anniversary arena tour (circa early 2023, there have been other castings last year ik but this year's one is the one i love). i had the chance to go see it bc it was in my state this month and its the latest one i've watched but it instantly blew away all the other versions i've seen. just... the great singing of 1996 london cast and great acting of 1973 movie and creative staging like the 2018 live in concert.... it had everything and there was not a single ball dropped or a single bad or even meh actor or song or artistic decision. i am usually not one to rec ppl to go buy a ticket to an event but seeing it was the best intro to musical theater or live performances i could have ever had and AHHHHHH. sm details of this will stay in my mind forever re: jcs i can't pick one thing to deacribe bc it's Everything and i'd be here for two hours if i tried. it has my FAVORITE ending of any jcs production and idk if any other production will compare to the high intensity emotions and poetics and symbolism combined with amazing singing like this one.
2. have to go with 1996 london cast recording. i havent seen it and idk if there are even any bootleg recordings of it, but the album is The jcs album i relisten to. fucking A+++. again, maybe i'm biased bc this was my first full jcs album (as opposed to random songs), but idk if anything else but the 1973 movie studio recording album can compare purely musically to me. i love how you can HEAR the acting in the emotional singing while also not sacrificing the singing itself (looking at you 2000 movie judas), and idk i feel like it so clearly tells the story in the tone even without being able to see it, and that's fantastic. every other jcs production in terms of singing and audible acting gets compared to this one, for me. this is the one i hear in my head when i remember or mentally sing the lyrics.
3. 1973 movie. carl anderson. first official filmed jcs production. 70's outfits. meta narrative. do i need to say anything else? this was my second jcs version i consumed when i Got Into It and man im glad it was. when i first watched it, it seemed kinda just alright (probably bc im not a huge fan of movies from the 70's or 80's), but the further time goes on the more i realize this is kinda just The jcs. the classic jcs. i said 1996 london cast recording is what i compare everything else to musically, but i feel like this version is the one that every other version has to live up to. simple question: is your jcs production better than carl anderson painfully crying out "he won't listen to me!" on a mountain in the desert in a fringe outfit as jesus steps out of a tour bus, yes or no? and most of the time the answer is no.
i'm not a huge fan of older movies but the acting and music in this is top tier, the costuming is fun most of the time, the sets are neat, and the underlying metanarrative about an acting group performing jcs inuniverse for a film or smth is rlly interesting. it's the only other jcs album i have saved in my music folder besides the 1996 london cast recording. 9/10
also as a judas fan this is also the judas i compare every other judas to bc... goddamn carl anderson covers every base. desperation and anger and righteousness and tenderness and pain and bitterness and longing.... he has the range. and honestly it's got my favorite version of Superstar so far. i don't think anyone else has topped carl anderson's version yet.
4. swedish arena tour (idr the year). amazing casting, AMAZING acting, fucking incredible costumes, great singing. the only reason it's this far down this list is bc i prefer other character interpretations, but like, the appeal of bisexual vampy switch jesus who flirts with most of the apostles inbetween his main love interests of biker milf mary magdalene and legolas-in-a-mesh-shirt judas... simply cannot be understated. pretty much every artistic decision is 7 or higher out of 10. it's a very consistently good production, and a very gay one. i like the swedish translated lyrics also.
5. 2000 movie. i think everyone knows by now how bad this one is but it's so campy and jcs is inherently ridiculous as both the appeal and the concept that it loops back around to being good. it's not my fave version but it was my third jcs version and it was honestlly rlly fun to watch. what it lacks in singing, it makes up for in acting. i think Heaven On Their Minds, Everything's Alright, This Jesus Must Die, The Last Supper, and Superstar are the numbers that shine here. i think this movie is actually my favorite versions of everything's alright and this jesus must die. i really like the symbolism they try to use in this one. ik i said i genuinely think the acting makes up for the singing, but this might be higher if judas actually SANG. or if pilate was less sympathetic bc i actually hate this pilate djdjfj this version gets points for being much less antisemitic than other jcs productions with the priests, and then immediately loses them by being noticibly more racist than others in the temple. also my favorite peter is in this one. his acting in the last supper is like 25% of my enjoyment of this version.
6. 2018 live concert. full disclosure, i haven't finished this one yet, but i love it so far. i love the outfits and the staging and the energy and casting. this singing is not my favorite and i'm genuinely not sure if john legend knows how to act or if they just cast him bc he's john legend (i'll find out in the second half ig bc i also didn't like the acting of the 50th anniversary tour jesus in the first half and THEN--) but judas does a good enough version of heaven on their minds which is my main criteria for judging a jcs production in personal likes and i do Love the meta themes of casting a real superstar singer as jesus christ given the themes of the musical. i like the dynamics between judas and mary in this one. i think judas is in the closet in this one which is very sad but his outfits absolutely make up for it. it is a spectacle and a half and i'm enjoying it so far. it might get bumped up to #5 depending on how the second half goes.
7. original concept album. i know it's very weird putting the origin of the whole thing at the bottom, but that's not because it's bad, it's just not smth i'm in love with as a whole. i do need to relisten to it--actually i will do that today--but it was really good the first time i heard it, i'm just not a fan of the sound of early rock and prefer the way various versions adapt the music in progressively more modern times. objectively talented singing tho and heaven on their minds goes OFF. i may have more takes after relistening, but that's it rn.
8. i've listened to a bunch of other tidbits of assorted performances, mostly judas solos, bc as i said, i judge a jcs production by its heaven on their minds performance and i went scouring through classic and modern versions of that at one point. this is not part of the proper ranking bc i haven't listened to them in full, but i wanted to mention them here at the end. if anyone wants a list of my fave recs of that to look into:
original mexican cast (1975)
original japanese cast (1976)
mexican revival cast (1984)
original russian cast (1992)
original czech cast (1994)
jesus christ surferstar (2003)
all female jcs recording (2022)
most of these albums can be found just uploaded on youtube or even spotify which is very cool, please check them out, i had fun skipping thru them.
and uhhhh there's all the versions i've watched in full, or mostly watched, and a few of the ones i've done neither! ik this is very long (longer than i intended) but i hope this is what u were looking for and was entertaining or helpful!!
#salute emoji#my post#jcs#ask#thank u for sending this ask i got to gush abt jcs productions#rlly hope this is at all what u were asking for fjfnfn

I fuckin love thinking about meta that's really funny at first but becomes increasingly more depressing the longer you think about its implications
The "Ik is Simon without a filter" thing, for instance. Ice King was just Simon with all social instincts and inhibitions gone. Like the only thing that was stopping Simon from being a petty, violent, easily angered whiner who constantly ran around doing bizzare shit and talking about his crushes and kinks with no filter was because he knew that it wasn't appropriate and had, like, restraint.
Simon sees an attractive woman and doesn't stare or say anything crude, because he's polite, shy, and doesn't want to make people uncomfortable. He just has his erotic thoughts that he keeps to himself. Ice King immediately calls her a hottie and insinuates he wants her to tie him up in bed, because he's overly confident, his concept of what's polite is very skewed and what will or won't make people uncomfortable isn't even something he remembers to think about before speaking anymore. It's not like he has a lot of conversation partners all alone up in the mountains of the Ice Kingdom.
Simon is offered a snack that ends up tasting awful, but he thanks the other and keeps his opinion of the food to himself, because he doesn't want to offend them, especially after a gesture of kindness. Ice King would spit it out, ask if they're trying to kill him, and demand something edible, because EWW it's yucky! Why don't they already know what he likes? Are they mocking him? Are they only pretending to like him? He can't tell the difference between a genuine act of kindness or an insult or manipulation tactic anymore. His post-crown experiences weren't exactly filled with positive interactions, and he's gotten taken advantage of after letting his guard down far more than he's gotten comfort for showing vulnerability.
I'd imagine every time Simon hears a new story about Ice King he dies a little inside from the embarrassment of knowing that he actually did that shit in front of people and said those things out loud. Hearing people talk about how much of an awful freak Ice King was hits really hard for him, because to him that means that his much more mild true self and the exaggerated caricature of him are just as bad. If anyone found out his oddities and quirks and kinks are technically the same as Ice King's, surely they'd be disgusted with him and want nothing to do with him anymore. All they'd ever see him as is the Ice King. So he has to be perfectly, 100% normal in every single way. Or else.
Whether or not he's correct in that assessment I haven't yet considered. Both are tragic.

Empirically speaking, reading plato (or whoever) in the original or good translation stimulates interesting thoughts, which is why intelligent ppl since the 4th century bc have continued to do so. Reading exegetical summaries of the rough form "Plato for Dummies" does not, which is why they are in general abandoned within 10yrs of their publication. Apriori speculation on what value these two kinds of text could possess seems pretty feeble as against the visible record of what value ppl have actually historically derived from them
Also like. Ik ive disagreed with u about this meta-point before but this is an extremely contentious claim solemnly propounded that you are just sort of... asserting? Expecting its pristine and daring reasonableness to do the work of any argument on its behalf? Its good to have hot heterodox takes floating around but i do think the onus is kind of on you here to make an actual case instead of treating as self evident things that observably arent. Otherwise you arent giving much information beyond "max1461 thinks [X]"
Like, fundamentally, I think if there's anything about The Universe or Metaphysical Truth that Plato got right, it could be conveyed better in a modern textbook than in a crusty old Greek scroll. Shameless analytic mindset. Fortunately Plato probably didn't get anything meaningfully right about The Universe or Metaphysical Truth that you also couldn't get right by thinking about it hard while staring at a babbling brook, which is the sort of thing you should be doing anyway. If he got anything really unique right it was probably something quite subtle about human life, which, yeah, you might only be able to extract if you read it from a crusty old Greek scroll. Which is why philology is important. Translation doesn't cut it for that kind of business.

aight i’ll bite. what even. is. the vtuber meta? afaik theyre just anime mcyt
(disclaimer: this is just me trying to ramble abt vtubers; if this appears in the search tab, pls ignore it or don't harass me abt some inaccuracies)
well, it's... not that simple ig??
even i don't know too much abt the vtuber stuff bc i'm jus a newbie fan
buuut i can give ya the gist of everything in here first, then the most prominent groups in the second part! under the cut bc it MIGHT get long!
(also this is the FIRST time i've heard of that term... ik it's kinda like the world of vtubers or smth, but i tried searching it up and i either got a magazine or news of the meta being bad so i don't rly wanna dive deeper into that vtuber news shit—)
sooo vtubers are basically rl ppl streaming, but with the added façade of basically being some of sort animated character on top of that. they usually range from the usual anime character to something a LOT more bonkers, like a capybara or even, idk, an object?? though that's limited to like, lesser-known indie vtubers, so yeh :p
along with the drawn, animated, and rigged characters that they control using their body movements, the characters themselves have lore attached to them, kinda like the characters that mcyt ppl have when playing in smp's. the lore can range from just being a normal person/idol to an ABSOLUTELY nigh-powerful god or legendary creature, not unlike the fan interpretations of smp character lore. however, it only gets slightly alluded to most of the time in streams, as a lot of them still reference their personal lives quite a bit, sometimes even combining the two in a clever way.
speaking of personal lives, if they have any other ooc Youtube or Twitch channels to be noted about, they're usually treated as separate to the current character they have at the moment. this is mostly done as respect to the current character, but sometimes talking about those channels, or 'previous lives' as the fans call it, in the presence of the vtuber in question could get them doxxed.
also, you might notice that a LOT of vtubers are also prone to saying a bunch of Japanese terms. it's mostly bc afaik, they first became popular in Japan. they then spread internationally with the help of community captions, and later on, clipping channels that post snippets of their videos with subtitles helped with the popularity.
however, vtuber culture is kinda based off of Asian idol culture, with some aspects of it being carried over to vtubers as well. one such aspect is calling retirements 'graduations', which to fans is a catch-all term for 'leaving the character and pretty much blocking said character's social media & its contents away from the masses', leading to a usually MASSIVE wave of panic in the chat. terminations of contract are also there, but are mostly prominent in corporate vtuber groups as opposed to independent/indie vtuber groups.
so yeah, that's the gist of vtubers. i'll discuss abt the main competitors in the nxt ask—
#rants from a not-so-closeted bi#that was stupid#<= (a tag for me speaking)#idk anymore#<= (also a tag for me speaking)#inquiries of a fennec#foxyfexyll#>> —^— <<#ik it's a lot to take in#but i somehow got a lot of it via clips (mostly from niji en) and tv tropes#so yeahhh it's gonna be a wild journey pardner—

Thanks for weighing in on that “JGY outing LWJ” meta. I found ludicrous the idea that LXC and JL sitting away from Wangxian indicated othering instead of politely trying to give the couple some privacy.
I look forward to your in-depth analysis of homophobia in MDZS society. I think there’s some degree of scandalousness to being gay, but it’s overlaid with classism. But see: the random cultivator’s awkwardness in telling JC about MXY, WWX weaponizing MXY’s homosexuality against the Mo family, and WWX worried about LWJ’s response to JC’s accusation.
Separately, what’s the title of the audio drama extra you referenced? It sounds hilarious!
glad you appreciated my little rant about that anon!
yes i agree, there are times in the novel where being gay is treated as scandalous - we see quite a few different reactions ranging from jc's outright disgust to people having no reaction at all! but overall, we are not presented with a world wherein wx (or even mxy - he openly made advances on multiple people) are fearful of expressing their sexuality due to social backlash, as was suggested in that meta.
the audio drama episode was 'a lost desire'
#i was gonna finish writing that meta today but i got too distracted by my books arriving !! also kind of tired from work today anyway#uughh being cold makes me SO tired and its like 5°c at work HELL ON EARTH#edit:#adding this here because i keep getting asks about this which i'm not going to answer#ive already said i'd clarify this in another post so there's no point#anyway people seem to be making assumptions based on what i said in the tags of that post - none of which is worded that clearly anyway#so first of all 'homophobia isn't a big deal in md/zs- this doesn't mean 'queerness is completly acceptable & considered normal in society'#which honestly ik i wasn't speaking all that clearly but i think given the context it should be obvious i was saying#'homophobia is nowhere near as big a deal in m/zs as it was portrayed in that post'#and again when i said 'jc and jl are the only ones seen to be homophobic' a better way to word this would have been#'jc and jl are the only ones that we see expressing the disgust towards queerness that That Post suggested the entire cast of felt'#their views are presented as outliers#and honestly with jl it's far more nuanced than jc#anyway i'm at risk of rambling in the tags again which is ill advised apparently#i finally understand what all those bird app people are on about with how it's so hard to say anything clearly character limitations SUCK

I don’t think this is about me 😭😭😭
But just in case nobody has to agree with my POV or take me on toe to toe
Pls never feel scared to criticize me tho😝
Block tw fandom discourse on my blog if u just want my fandom content or ur sensitive to discussing online harassment
I’m not very diplomatic tho I’m just fucking around I like Billy meta, discourse, politics, and over analyzing media, it’s intent, my idea/ experiences of its impacts, and themes✌🏿
I do want people to respect fans and be educated about certain topics but ik I can’t force that on people I just speak on it. Give resources and advocate 4 it.
I get that. Its less about them having those strong personal interpretations in general and more how they're trying to force other people in the fandom to take them on and then getting upset and making guilt-trippy rant posts when people don't. It just strikes me as if you're at that point, where your entire time on Tumblr is spent trying to force your personal interpretations of a fictional character on other people and its giving you gender dysphoria and panic attacks, that should be the point you take a step back and try to separate your internal feelings and relationship with the subjects from your participation in fandom spaces. They're slowly sliding into the viewpoint that anyone who has a different interpretation of them or anyone who just in general disagrees is wildly wrong and harmful, and it was frankly getting concerning to watch. By contrast you're always objective and diplomatic when approaching the same issues, and your answers are always less geared towards a personal, emotional approach and more a pragmatic, factual, discussionary one.
Hmn. Yeah, that makes sense. I’ve definitely been in a bad headspace before in fandom, and looking back on it now I probably should have stepped back for my own sake. I think it’s hard when fandom feels like your only safe place, because then it also becomes something you feel like you constantly have to defend from perceived threats. Except. Not everything is a malicious threat. I have to tell myself that when I see some posts that are critical of the things I love without being harmful. I have to remember it’s not an attack on me, personally. I do try my best to be “diplomatic” now, I guess, though I certainly have my emotional moments.
#I wish anon said names#I’m always open to criticism#I’m just confused now cuz of my low empathy#tw fandom discourse#I guess it doesn’t hurt to reiterating this 4 new followers tho#but it’s also pinned on my blog and I try to live by these rules I’ve made#that I’m always ready to change

Top 5 Bucky and Sam moments?
ooof only 5?? ok here we go
its gotta be the hill roll moment. it has to be. the head hold when sam scoops him up, the banter beforehand, the cinematic poeticism of the flowers, the boob pillow trope done infinitely better than brucetasha, the fact that sam only tells bucky to get off him bc bucky speaks first *chefs kiss*
ok can i say the whole of episode 5 because the whole of episode 5. no but for real bucky apologising to sam. it was needed. ik we all like bucky being a grumpy asshole and its kinda expected after everything but he went too far sometimes
when the shipping container lab blows up and sam and bucky immediately look for each other and help each other up then forget about that moment of panic for the other one and start screaming at each other whilst sharons just trying to work <3
bucky staring at sam in the cap suit and when he's giving his speech with the biggest most literal fucking heart eyes ive ever seen thank u sebastian stan for ur service
i wanna say the whole end of ep 6 on the dock with bucky borrowing the car and playing with cass and aj and hugging sam and the blurred walkaway which is exactly why im saying it, that scene is pure serotonin for me, only ending the mouse ever got right
(bc it was never going to be just 5 was it) the walker fight which is basically just five minutes of them jumping in front of amd avenging each other
sam putting his hand on bucky's metal arm when he's pretending to be the winter soldier 😭😭 ive already written meta on it so ill refrain but it makes me crazy
and an honorary mention to their intense eye contact which suddenly disappears when sam is shirtless 👀

Ok this isn't Feyre slander. But I don't get why Feyre had to be illiterate? What did it add to the story? (ik there's that one trial but it could've been something else) In a meta sense its meant to contrast the Disney film (Belle loves to read), but narratively speaking it doesn't make much sense to me. She was born into a wealthy family. She should've learned to read long before they even fell into poverty.
This is very true. It makes no sense for her to not be able to read by 12 (12??? Middle school???) when they fell into poverty… unless she had a learning disability. I personally head canon her as dyslexic, myself, and I thought it was a really unique flaw to give a main character! And it would have been really cool to watch her overcome this “human imperfection” and reconcile that a part of her will always be human no matter how much her body changes—
Then, of course, Rhysand taught her to read within like. A few weeks? Just from copying sentences? Which is just not realistic for an illiterate adult? And because Saint Rhysand manages to teach Feyre the impossible, any interesting internal conflicts Feyre could’ve had were never written.
To return to your point: Rhysand teaching Feyre so easily renders Feyre’s illiteracy in the first book pointless, and sadly it shows that Mrs. Maas didn’t put that much thought into Feyre’s character, probably because she was too busy thinking about Rhysand’s character instead.
