You are the very first person she will ever let hear her new music (Save for one song but only because it’s something she wants to be perfect)

You and Mahiru probably met completely by accident

Either by literally running into each other or because the two of you got shoved together while doing something

At first neither of you really knew what to say to the other

So one of you decided to blurt out a really shitty joke that the other one completely understood

It snowballed from there into Mahiru asking you if you wanted to grab some food sometime

You opened the door of an old hole in the wall restaurant that looked like it was here before the invention of the car and walked in.

An elderly woman looked up at you before smiling and saying “I assume you are here with Koizumi-Chan correct?”

“Well it’s about time that girl got herself someone good for her” The woman said before standing up from her chair and gesturing for you to follow her.

As you followed the lady through the hall leading to what you could only assume was the dining area you noticed that both of the walls were covered in framed photographs that dated back decades

But one picture in particular caught your attention

It was a relatively new photo when compared to the others

It showed the woman you were following except a decade or so younger

Next to her stood an elderly man which you could only assume was her husband

And on her otherside was what you could only assume was a much younger Mahiru

When you asked her about the photos the woman explained that her family and Mahiru’s mother’s family have been friends going back generations

However before you could ask her to elaborate she shooed you into the dining area where Mahiru was fidgeting

“Mahiru-Chan, your date is her!” The elderly woman exclaimed before turning around and walking back to the front of the restaurant

Mahiru let out a strangled noise before you sat down

She is a nervous reck

This is her first time doing anything like this

Please calm her down

Ask her about her hobbies and passions

After asking her about her hobbies and calming her down things start going well

The two of you really hit it off

Enough to get Mahiru to ask you on another one

So now with the set up done let’s get to the headcanons

To begin with things started off slow

Handholding, little dates and outings, the small things that build a strong foundation to a relationship

When she hugged you for the first time it was a big shock

She nearly killed you

Lazy and Late mornings everyday

This is probably due to the fact she has absolutely no sleep schedule

She loves taking photos of you and the places the two of you visit while she’s at work

She gives you very well thought out and useful gifts

She uses you kind of as a test group on her photos and new styles she’s experimenting with

Her screen saver is actually a pretty clever photo

Her’s shows you holding on half of a heart while yours shows her doing the same

Together your screen savers make a full photo

Her favorite memory of the two of you is when both of you had the same day off and were able to stay in bead nearly all day

In summary Mahiru is the type of person who takes things slow but that's because she wants to make sure everything is perfect with the two of you

YES, alright, most of these are probably not going to be surprising, but anyway:

blorbo: Texas

This lupo has moved into my head and is living there rent free ever since. There's just so much about her that I find so intruiging. We have no real clue what had happened to the Texas' family. Siracusa is largely unexplored territory. How does she even relate to Lappland? If she's from Siracusa, why does her file state Columbia as her origin? I dunno man but I wanna know! I need to know!!!

There's this ominous phrase in her file: "When the past does catch up to her, she will face it was composure--unless it disrupts her present, then we'll witness the genuine rage inside her." And I could talk at length about this line alone, but I'm gonna stop myself short here, because this post won't end otherwise.

scrunkly: Blue Poison

The Frog. The Queen. The precious one. Her smile warms my heart. Her presence is comforting like the blankets she wraps around my shoulders. Her sweetness is joyous like the cakes she bakes. I would offer her all the hugs she could ever wish for. And I would hold her hand, until she found the confidence to move on her own.

Best froggo. 12/10, would poison again. Also best sniper in the game.

scrimblo bimblo: Absinthe

I have a habit of adopting traumatized children as daughters, and like, Absinthe has seen some shit - which is, to be fair, something you could say for every Ursus student. Absinthe is special to me, because I feel like there's much of a story to tell, aside from what we've seen in Children of Ursus (her chapter in the event felt more like an introduction to her character).

She has been forced to grow up in a span of only a few days, had to quite literally pick up her dead father's weapon and chose to also inherit his belief in justice, which she struggles with quite a lot. Justice is a concept that's pretty interesting to me and one that also fits Arknights themes very well.

Despite all that I feel like she gets barely discussed, despite all the potential this would have in relation to other operators (W, for example). Funnily enough she's also my most used Caster. I love the sound her weapon makes when being fired.

glup shitto: Leizi

She's just pure comedy. Like imagine a supreme court judge joining a para-military cancer relief foundation for shits and giggles. Imagine the entire HR staff completely stressed out and panicing, because they know that she could quite literally make Rhodes Island an enemy of Yen by the wave of a hand - and the Doctor just let her in, no questions asked. Meanwhile, said court judge gets into petty arguments with engineers and technicians because she throws off their radars and sensors just by being physically close to them. Magnets keep sticking to her.

Technically - not a side character, she's an operator and all. But I'm not even sure she got mentioned in any parts of the story up until this point. So I say that counts until I am proven wrong because I probably forgot about some scene in chapter 3 or something

poor little meow meow: Robin

Uhhh, not sure if that counts. I don't think she's really controversial or anything, she's just kind of messed up for the lengths she goes to earn money. I mean, she was kind-of a bad guy in Mansfield Break, even almost betraying Tony the Tiger for her own gains. She has reasons for doing so of course, but like you gotta be pretty desperate to take on five part-time jobs and also do contract murders on the side (I don't know if she has five part-time jobs, but she sure looks like she does).

If anything she looks tired as hell and desperately needs sleep. Poor little racoon.

blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): James "Jimothy" Norrington, The Character Ever. Is there ever a time where I am not thinking about this man on some level?? Jack Davenport saw a token Brit antagonist role in a summer blockbuster based on a theme park ride, said "Y'all mind if I make this character incredibly layered and tragic?", and didn't wait for an answer. Beneath the brocade beats a heart as opposed to a watch, a young man royal navy to the core, etc. etc. He's already got a lot going on in CotBP but it was seeing him reduced to a wretched state in DMC that really solidified him as my fave; we love to see a fall from grace and to see a man take the worst possible path to "redemption"...which it turns out wasn't even that good and he thinks resulted in the death of the person he cared about most. And then the poor bastard sacrifices himself for said person, the only woman he's ever loved, after finding out she's still alive. He's got the snark, the deep voice, the long dark hair, the sword, the Tragedy...A Fine Man indeed.

scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): I wouldn't call her my baby but I guess Lizzie??? She IS very cute/pretty and I say "SHE" every time she's onscreen. She also doesn't really fit in the other categories but I love her so much, definitely my second favorite character. Also Ragetti

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): ANAMARIA. Shoutout to pre-DMC fics for writing more of her because lord knows she deserves it, sucks that Zoe Saldana was treated so horribly that she didn't come back for 2 or 3.

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): She doesn't ever appear onscreen but ESMERALDA MARIA CONSUELA ANNA DE SEVILLA (MY BELOVED) from the tie-in novel The Price of Freedom (and Aleah @emcads' legendary RPs). We love to point at tiny details and go "that's Esme's"

poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): I mean I think this simply has to be Captain Jack himself. I do love him dearly despite the writers' best efforts in 2 and 3 (there are no 4 and 5 in Ba Sing Se). Competent, grounded CotBP Jack is best Jack but even there he was pathetic.

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): Mercer, he deserves it. Also Murtogg and Mullroy if we go with a less extreme definition of torment; they're fun to mess with!

scrimblo bimblo: actually, logan? idk i dont see a lot of people talking about him, it's usually aiden people hype up aggressively. and like, fair enough, but logan is genuinely so soft and sweet, and he's so anxious? people only talk about how anxious he is, though. but he tries to mask his anxieties in front of whoever the old people are (i'm personally choosing to believe those are his grandparents and he was raised by them unless im forgetting something from the "get permission to get self-defense training" arc) and he does a good job of hiding the fact that he's suffering to hell and back in front of them. which is really fucking depressing, but like, yknow. also he gives me big autism vibes. 90% of the cast does, but specifically the "[Tyler] Well, that's professional." / "[Logan] I don't know, it doesn't seem very professional..." / "[Tyler] I was being sarcastic." Anyways people don't appreciate him enough--

glup shitto: ASHLYN'S PARENTS they're so good on like 40 levels. their daughter KNOWS that they're just being overdramatic and goofy when they're like "oh woe is us our dreams of sleepovers and eavesdropping are shattered by our daughters lack of desire to make friends</3", they don't push her or enforce that she has to make friends, they're gentle and encouraging and also they've yote like three kids to the ground, i think.

poor little meow meow: squinting at the cast. none of them are really controversial or pathetic, tbh! so i guess i gotta pass on this one.

horse plinko: alright currently unnamed lady w the origami phone charm who led everyone into the sorrel weed house it's time for horse plinko
