“I can offer you nothing,” he said. “Only a song in the shadows.”
“Sing it to me,” I whispered back.

Paige permanently exhausted as she tries to balance the demands of working as Jaxon's mollisher with going behind his back to help the survivors of Oxford. Across London, Arcturus Mesarthim is typing "human courtship rituals" into an internet search engine with a level of focus usually reserved for quantum mechanics calculations

I’m all caught up on the bone season (finished book four, the mask falling, yesterday), and I swear you guys need to read this series. It’s literally a top two overall for me.
The characters, writing, world building, magic system, EVERYTHING is perfect. This is the first time each book in a series has been a 5/5 stars for me.
I’m so serious pls read!!! Especially all of you beautifully talented artists who can bring Paige and Arcturus to life for me bc I’m extremely untalented and I need to see them in more fan art xoxoxox

They say forgive and forget.
Arcturus forgets nothing. His oneiromancy doesn't allow it. He remembers that she came for him - how could he not - but he remembers the look in her eyes as she fled, too.
In his cell in the shadows, the memory burns him like a flame.
He hadn't known. Neither of them had, could never have been prepared for another dreamwalker. In the quieter moments, this is what he tells himself.
He doesn't know what game Cade plays, who pulls the strings. But Paige ran, when she would have been Nashira's. In that, he had saved her life.
He knows she would have stayed. Would have defended him to the end, even if she wasn't ready. It doesn't matter.
In his dreamscape, the drapes burn.
Paige is the only one who forgets.
In some ways, it is a mercy. She forgets her father.
She forgets Suhail and Vance. Dark nights and drowning.
She doesn't know how she got here, but with the hope, the strength, of the Paige she was before, she can do what needs to be done.
But she is no one's puppet, and she will find what is missing.
Even if it breaks her.
Even in anger, he would not do this to her. But Arcturus swore an oath. When she asks, demands, that he restore her memories, he cannot withhold it.
This time, when the darkness comes, they are together. They fall through the memories like a stone through water, going deeper, faster.
He can spare her nothing.
But he is there. Every kick, every blow, every drip.
He is there as she remembers him. When the bombs dropped. When she ran, would have kept running; until she forgot.
When she wakes, when the salvia wears, she is already crying.
She cannot make it right. Cannot undo what has already been done.
But she would know it. All of it.
She brushes his dreamscape, fragile and foreign, and he allows it.
If she can forgive him, she can forgive herself:
They've had enough apologies between them.
