The Survival of Megumi's Shikigami

I always hear how Megumi barely has any shikigami left and I get confused about why this is being said. First of all, some people say this as a dig on Megumi's power which doesn't make sense however you look at it because the powers of the shikigami get inherited anyway but also he still has at least half of them if not more.

His dead shikigami are: the White Dog, Orochi and Makora.

Now people will add 3 more shikigami onto that list: Nue, Round Deer and Tiger Funeral.

This would leave 5 surviving shikigami: the Black Dog, Toad, Rabbit Escape, Max Elephant, Piercing Ox.

Even in the worst case scenario, Megumi would still have half of his shikigami but I'm going to tell you now that Megumi still has 8 of them. The last three shikigami deaths are attributed to Gojo killing "Nue - Totality: Merged Beast Agito" who, as many say, consisted of Nue with the inherited powers of Orochi, Round Deer and Funeral Tiger.

The name itself leads to that conclusion and that Agito is nothing but Nue with inherited powers from the other dead shikigami but exactly there lies my problem with this reading: it posits that Round Deer and Funeral Tiger were already dead before the fight against Gojo started.

How did they die? Did Sukuna kill them in preparation for this fight? I don't believe he would intentionally kill his assets like this. Their death isn't a loss to him but alive they're still usefull especially Round Deer. I also don't think that Funeral Tiger (a shikigami that by name alone is associated with Yuji) would be killed before we get a design reveal.

So my thoughts are this: Nue, Deer and Tiger were fused together and then the inherited power of Orochi was added on top. The addon of "Kon" would be warranted like this and the destruction of Agito wouldn't have killed the other 3 shikigami. A fusion though isn't as strong as inheited powers but Gojo already said that Agito was too weak to stand with him, Sukuna and Makora.

However, I can accept that Round Deer and Funeral Tiger have been killed beforehand when it turns out that Sukuna had a serious fight in the 1-month timeskip and that with Megumi.

Yuji and the others have a multi-step plan to save Megumi and kill Sukuna. Who says that Sukuna didn't have a multi-step plan outside of killing Tsumiki to make sure that Megumi stays submerged forever? Or that Megumi didn't fight back in the timeskip after seeing that Gojo had been rescued?

A theory is going around that it was Megumi who made the chants to increase Sukuna's CE output last chapter so he would be able to attack Yuji, Yuta and Rika with the World Slashing Cut. This theory also says that it was Megumi who summoned Makora when Sukuna was hit by Unlimited Void inside Gojo's domain.

This would track in case Sukuna made a Binding Vow with Megumi that forces Megumi to save Sukuna every time he is about to get defeated. But how could a BV like that have been made when we look at the last time we saw Megumi before the time skip?

By Megumi fighting back against Sukuna but losing or making a compromise.

Also, another reason for me to accept those dead Agito shikigami, especially Funeral Tiger, is the possibility that the Cursed Technique Reversal of the Ten Shadows can summon the dead shikigami with positive energy through light.

Okay, now that the final chapter is officially out, and here are my thoughts... (under cut because manga spoilers)

It's not a bad ending.

People, mostly the overly obsessive Gojo fans, are just upset because Gojo didn't return. Or they are mad because everyone has "seemingly forgotten about Gojo" especially since no one mourned him.

But wanna know something?

As much as it's sad that no one mourned Gojo's death after the battle. It actually makes sense because Gojo himself wouldn't want people to mourn him.

Like there's a reason the letters he left Megumi and Nobara were more silly and referencing a parent instead of him saying anything super serious.

Because Gojo probably figured Nobara wouldn't really care about her mom's whereabouts. And he knew Megumi didn't give a shit about Toji. But Gojo still went ahead and told them regardless to spark something in them other than sadness for him not being around. (Nobara was pissed but didn't care, and Megumi genuinely laughed.)

Satoru Gojo's goal was to raise up sorcerers that could do what he did.. but do it as a team rather than Jujutsu Society depending on one person (like it did with Gojo). And what happened? He achieved just that with his students: Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, Maki, Yuta, Panda (kinda), Inumaki, and Hakari.

As well as Kusakabe, Higuruma, Hana(Angel), Todo, UiUi (who was getting the injured off the battlefield), Shoko (healing up everyone), MeiMei (recon info about what was happening), and even Miwa (providing backup with simple domain to protect against Shrine)

Everyone (minus Panda) was involved in defeating Sukuna in one way or another. Either directly or indirectly.

Like it's understandable why Gojo, in the afterlife, stated and was upset that Sukuna didn't go all out against him. And instead Sukuna more relied on Mahoraga and, to a lesser extent, Merged Beast Agito. Because he knew that once Gojo was defeated.. everyone else would jump him.

So Sukuna opted to pace himself more.

It was Gojo who had to go all out. Because IF he beat Sukuna.. cool, but that would solidify him in the eyes of Jujutsu Society as basically a god. And make his life even lonelier than it already was.

I'm not saying that Sukuna didn't give Gojo a helluva fight. Because there were moments in Gojo vs. Sukuna, where Sukuna could've gone into his true form but opted to just RCT heal Megumi's body instead.

But Sukuna was playing the long game while Gojo had to start off strong (200% Hollow Purple) and maintain that level of strength the whole time.

But Gojo, despite losing, DID do something major he removed the biggest threat against everyone else that Sukuna had. And that was Mahoraga (and Merged Beast Agito; even though Agito didn't really do much against Gojo, however, it would've provided a challenge for everyone else).

But Gojo’s shit talking aside, no wonder Sukuna wanted Megumi given what he can do wielding Ten Shadows at its full capacity. Mahoraga is a amazing but calling Merged Beast Agito too, even with the strain on his brain at the moment and recovering from being on the receiving end of black flash, is incredible

Just as Gojo defends against Mahoraga, Sukuna attack lands on Gojo and wounds him. Gojo dodges Mahoraga and realizes that Sukuna is not supporting Mahoraga but when his infinity vanishes, Sukuna also attacks. So basically a 2 v 1

Sukuna summons a NEW shikigami named “Chimera Beast Agito”

It seems to be a merge of “Nue” and “Totality” but Sukuna didn’t specifically say merge. He just chanted those 2 names and then summoned this one.

So it now becomes a 3 V 1
