Opinion on the new Nosferatu movie? Personally I think it was modernised dracula retelling for the first hour, then some gorey ewew stuff and babam! Good wins!

It was great as representation of how epilepsy, mental illness, pressure of society and mainly 🍇 affects/affected women and girls, especially if it was a powerful man/aristocrat. Just showed how people at that time treated, viewed and explained it.

But as horror, for me it got really male gazey generic horror in the second half. I did NOT need to see boobs like four times. And sex scene like uhhhh... three times? And the main woman character sacrificing herself and getting killed. One of the the 🍇 scene if I presume correctly.

Overall 5/10. Good symbolism and gothic horror atmosphere but meh storyboard.

i liked it a lot. i really enjoyed the dynamic of Ellen and Orlock where she was at once, repulsed by him and also drawn to him. I thought the effects and costumes were beautiful, I've seen it twice now and I think i liked it more the second time. i didn't really find it scary but I don't think that's really necessary for me to enjoy a movie.

I didn't really interpret it as a rape story but I've seen multiple people mention it at this point so maybe I missed something. to me it was a story centered around Female sexuality and the sort of demonization that comes with it, I think a lot of the gratuitous horny shit in the movie is intentional and that discomfort that it brings is supposed to make the audience think.

the Sex scene between Ellen and Thomas was weird though. i think it would have worked better with just a bit more dialogue or lead-up because it felt like they went from Wife having a seizure on the ground to sex. i would have liked just like ten more seconds of scene in that one.

I think it's a great example of a modern gothic film and a monster fucker story.
