Mad cat do you like The Orville? I saw your post talking about Twice Upon a Lifetime. Gordon has my whole entire heart and I wish they could have just let him be, but they had to protect the timeline. Everything they did they did for the sake of their future.
I do! In a lot of ways, it was baby's first Star Trek, for me. I saw episodes of Next Gen here and there when I was a kid, but The Orville is what inspired me to watch Next Gen (and Discovery) in full. Even to this day, I consider The Orville to be "real" Star Trek. Not saying it's better than official content (though I certainly enjoy it) but I would argue that it's more than earned it's place as an addition to that fictional universe.
Regarding Twice In a Lifetime,
I know that was the point of view the episode wanted to establish for Ed and Kelly, and I'm not even sure if they wanted us to see Gordon as being in the right or wrong. I can only tell you that when I watched it, I was absolutely on his side and frankly, rooting for Ed and Kelly after that episode was...challenging.
They claim they want to protect the timeline, but they have an extremely narrow definition of what that means, regarding a subject that they freely admit to not fully understanding. The fact is, Gordon could be right. Maybe the timeline where he stays on Earth is the "right" one. The Orville crew don't know. They can't be sure, one way or the other, so what makes the version of time they're fighting for more real, more legitimate, more "safe?" Whether or not Gordon should have done what he did, it's happened now. Ed claims that it's still in flux "until we act." But that doesn't make any sense. Everything they do is "acting." How does the timeline know when they "mean" it?
Oh and, they go back in time to rescue Gordon from 2015, despite already interacting with Gordon in 2025, and obtaining the fuel they need to make that journey from 2025. Would that not create gigantic paradox? I guess it doesn't, but again, how the hell could the Orville crew be sure that it wouldn't before they make that jump? Can we also talk about how they mine a finite resource from the Earth's crust that hasn't even been discovered yet, like that won't affect the timeline more than Gordon having kids.
There is no way to not leave a footprint when you're in the past. It is not possible. On paper, hiding out in the woods seems like it would change less, but it really doesn't. Every one of the animals Gordon killed for food might have played some role or been part of a domino effect that changed the future somehow. It's called The Butterfly Effect for a reason. Living a quiet, mundane life, to me, is just as acceptable and probably smarter than staying in the wilderness. Oh yeah, and when they find Gordon's bio, Kelly asks "Why is there a record of him at all?" My sister in Christ, why were you looking him up in the first place if you didn't expect to find something?
Ed and Kelly keep bringing up Union law to Gordon, even though the Union literally doesn't exist in the 21st century. How is he supposed to break laws that don't exist? The Union can try to legislate the past all it wants, but in actual practice it should have no right or jurisdiction. By The Union's it's own reasoning, the past is apparently written in stone. Ed and Kelly also mention how Gordon "took an oath" as if he hasn't made it very clear that he's resigning his post as a Union officer. And so long as we're talking about the law, would it not be a crime to erase Edward and his unborn sibling? Like, Gordon raises that point and Ed/Kelly don't acknowledge it.
Man, I could go on. I could talk about the hypocrisy of The Orville crew considering history says they're all supposed to be dead after the dark matter storm in Season 1. How they were far more open minded with Past Kelly in Season 2, agreeing to let her stay and not forcing a memory wipe on her when she was going home. Not to mention they were willing change history in The Road Not Taken. I could talk about how, in just the previous episode, they were willing to risk losing their greatest ally against the Kaylon just so Topa could transition. I'm not saying any of these decisions were wrong, but if that's the attitude we've been going with so far, how do Ed and Kelly justify such a sharp turn?
In general, I have a lot of issues with the laws of The Union/Federation. I also think The Prime Directive is a circular argument that basically humble-brags about it's own lack of empathy, but that's a debate for another time.

Itâs crazy how SAG AFTRA (A union that is supposed to be looking out for actors) is going out of their way to make it damn near impossible to make a living as an actor.
Funny how the strikes have ended but nothing seems to have changed. Shows are still getting cancelled, studios are still hellbent on shoving AI down the general publicâs throats, and anybody who isnât an A-Lister is struggling to make ends meet.
I gotta ask, what was the point of striking for six months straight if everything was just gonna go back to square one?
The biggest issue I have with the current state of SAG AFTRA is that it feels less like a union and more like a spoiled rich kids country club. Where those who are on top will do everything they can to fuck everyone else over.
Pretty sure Fran Drescher and her cronies donât even know how many members the union actually has. They most likely believe that they only rep the big names and nobody else.
This isnât anything new, as the concept of voice acting has always been looked down on in America. It was always seen as that thing that quote and quote âNobodiesâ did or an easy paycheck for A-Listers who needed extra cash.
So Iâm not really surprised that SAG AFTRA decided to fuck over voice actors. But it is infuriating none the less.
Iâve spoken to plenty of people who moved to LA to pursue a career in voice over. And it really fucking sucks knowing that their careers will never be given the opportunity to grow thanks to this AI shit.
Not everyone can pull a Matt Mercer and have a side project like Critical Role turn into a massive brand.
Hell, a lot of voice actors Iâve talked to have to rely on cons and Twitch streams to keep a roof over their heads because they arenât making enough to get by.
Iâll always be pro unions, but fuck SAG AFTRA.

Do you think capcom is gonna keep Nick Apostoletes for a potential RE6R or they are gonna go with Matthew Mercer again?
(this is from what i can tell, i could be wrong)
capcom doesn't hire union actors anymore (to some capacity) so unless nick becomes unionized, he will most likely be hired again (but with some caveats.)
iirc he did have to re-audition for re4r, so i don't think they're just going to ask him to return unless they really wanted him to return.
remember they (capcom) never asked jolene anderson to return (ada's va for re2r) so i don't know if capcom has any serious attachments to him or any actors. (also this was a big deal for some reason from some people *rolling eyes emoji*)
the fact that he was "kind of asked" but still had to audition again makes me think that they aren't super attached to him or they wanted to make sure that he can actually do the role. maybe for the name and for continuity sake, they would ask for him again. but nick has never been my favourite when it comes to consistency.
nick is still pretty unknown in terms of va, he's not like neil newbon or matt mercer. i honestly don't think he was paid an insane amount to reprise his role as leon for re4r. and especially because he's not unionized. he MIGHT be sag at some point? but yeah i dunno.
and the fact that capcom was willing to do a switch with ada from jolene to lily makes me think that they don't care too much about consistency there either. it was super strange (imo) that they rehired matt mercer to finish off the cgi films when nick was hired for the infinite darkness series. I understand that these are ALL separate entities, but only until after death island did it seem like matt mercer has "properly" handed off the role to nick.
that being said, matt mercer has always been my favourite and i would have loved a matt mercer/courtenay taylor reunion.
tldr capcom is cheap af and if they find another va that they like better to do leon for a potential re6r (who is also cheaper), i wouldn't be surprised.

A really smart part of the SAG-AFTRA deal is that Replica (the company SAG-AFTRA made the deal with) makes the AI voice models and then licenses them to whoever actually makes the final product. Which means there is now a company that is licensing out AI voice models, which will likely be a cheaper alternative than creating those models in-house (and certainly cheaper than getting sued into the sun for trying to earn money using an unsanctioned AI Matthew Mercer). Which means those hypothetical studios dead-set on using AI voices will go to the company selling the legally-licensed AI voice models, guaranteeing those VAs a paycheck! This deal leverages market forces in a way that encourages paying an artist! If you are worried about studios making AI voice models of nobodies instead of hiring union talent, this deal should please you!
Yeah I noticed none of the people upset get into any details about the deal because it (like anti-AI stuff in general) is about knee jerk stuff

You know, it always frustrates me when people refuse to branch out and try new TTRPGs, stubbornly clinging to things that bring them happiness, so I wanted to provide a little recommendation you might not have considered: D&D.
You might have heard of Dungeons and Dragons, or D&D as it's frequently called, from the 2023 movie, or, if you're a little more tuned in, Stranger Things, but it's been around since the 1970s! And if you haven't given it a go, it's worth checking out.
Obviously youâd be looking for alternatives to Pathfinder given past reports from employees that they had to unionize in order to get the company to follow basic OSHA regulations and repeated accusations of underpaying both staff and freelancers. Fear not! D&D 5e is an intuitive switch - Pathfinder 1e was originally based on an earlier edition of D&D, and the cast of Critical Role actually made this same switch, so itâs been done before! Youâll find most of the same classes, a large homebrew community, and similar combat mechanics - but much more streamlined. If youâve been rolling your eyes at the near-infinite ability check range in Pathfinder 1e, or the fact that you need to look up twenty factors before assigning a difficulty class, or the need to burn an entire action to maintain spell concentration, D&D simplifies it. With a handful of exceptions for classes with expertise, and not including the possibility of bardic inspiration being used on an already successful roll, most checks will be below 35, and DCs can be created by the DM - which is just one of the many ways D&D prioritizes player agency, a phrase we understand the meaning of and care about deeply.
And now that bears are out of vogue due to their association with hard drugs thanks to Cocaine Bear, you might be looking for alternatives to your Honey Heist game. One of my favorite games is D&D, which has the bonus of being flexible enough for both one-session games, and something ongoing! Pre-created character sheets and modules are available for free, so it can be as low-prep or as involved as you want. If youâre missing the animal aspects, check out the druid class, or you could take a look at the blood hunter class by Matt Mercer (who you may know as Trinket from Trinketâs Honey Heist) if youâre interested in playing a creature who might lose control. The McElroys, known Honey Heist players, have actually run several D&D campaigns if you are looking to onboard. Also, let's be real: Honey Heist is overly simplistic - seriously, only one page? - and has dumb hats, and if you knew about the other options, you'd obviously not be playing it.
Speaking of the McElroys, I bet we have some Blades in the Dark and PbtA fans in the audience! If you find mixed success mechanics frustrating, want to be able to have larger-scale, higher-stakes battles without the risk of dying immediately, or are interested in a less regimented structure that is more setting-agnostic, as well as provides opportunities for the Game Master (called a Dungeon Master in D&D) to fail, D&D is worth a look! It's a fairly combat-heavy game and characters are built to be able to withstand some heavy hits, so a large battle won't bring the narrative to a halt as your characters struggle to find outlets for their unhealthy coping mechanisms in order to recover (though, of course, if you like that, the open RP and general ability check mechanisms make it easy to include)!
What's important, in the end, is to remember that the TTRPG you are currently enjoying is wrong, bad, and stupid. Choose the game I, an internet stranger who has made no effort to learn anything of your personal tastes, interests, and the needs of your table, has decided you should play. And remember: the most important thing is having fun.
#anyway happy april fools have some satire#also to be clear: i love and have played honey heist#and i am interested in bitd#this is not about those specific games it is about a general form of recommendation that is the satire do not @ me

Gordon Malloy x Reader
Word Count: 3059
Now Featuring PT 2!
âYou two haven't even talked since your first month here!â
This was an argument you and Talla have had nearly daily for the past month.
âWe've messaged,â you remind her. âWe're both Union members on fleet ships, we don't have time to call.â
âWhen's the last time he sent you something first?â
âNot this again, come on.â You sigh, looking away from your science console. âI don't keep track of who messages who first.â
âWell, you showed me last time we were all over at yours drinking wine,â she informs, looking a little smug. âHe hasn't even initiated a conversation with you for nearly a year!â
You consider, briefly, smacking your head against the nearest wall. Of course wine-drunk you had shown her, probably wanting to prove a point you'd completely failed to prove.
âRelationships aren't about who sends who a message first.â
âBut they are about communication and showing you care for each other.â
âWe communicate.â
âNo, you communicate. He can't even bother to ask you about your day.â
You sigh, returning your gaze to your console. âShouldn't you be on the bridge right now?â
No sooner than you say that does Captain Mercer call her over the comms, and she gives you her version of a pout as she assures him she's on her way, moving quickly from the science lab.
The issue is that she isn't technically wrong- you and your boyfriend had been drifting significantly since you moved postings from the small science vessel to the Orville. When he found out you took the posting, he'd gone so far as to accuse you of acting like you were too good for the ship you'd met on. That wasn't it at all. The Achilles had been a great ship- great crew, interesting missions⌠but you wanted adventure as well, and the Achilles was only equipped for short expeditions. When you'd heard the Orville was working on putting its own anthropology team together, you'd put in an application immediately. You were a small team, and, to your shock, they'd placed you at its head. According to Commander Grayson, not many Union anthropologists with more than a couple of years of experience were willing to transfer to a new team. It ended up being not only good for you, but a good career opportunity, a chance to prove you could lead. Kevin didn't see it that way. Kevin acted like you were some sort of traitor, or like you were only thinking of yourself. Even just thinking about it really downed your mood, so you didn't, returning your attention to your work.
It's a few hours later, in the mess, that Talla and Commander Grayson sit down with you, and the Commander gives you a kind of amused look.Â
âTalla was just telling me your boyfriend sucks.â
You can't help the exasperated sigh that escapes you. âCommander-â
âPlease, we're not working, and we're gossiping? Kelly is fine.â She waves a hand at you, sipping on her drink.Â
You hesitate, but nod. âOkay, Kelly. Talla is totally blowing things out of proportion.â
âI mean, does he text you first? Like ever?â She leans back in her chair.
âHe doesnât have to, Iâm more than willing to-â
âYou guys talking about the shitty boyfriend?â Lieutenant Malloy takes a seat beside you, and you could scream. Absolutely the worst person who could decide to plop down into this conversation.
âYou know about the boyfriend?â Kelly looks shocked, and you stab at your food.
âKnow about him? Dude, weâve met. The guy is a piece of work.â
âGuy is still my boyfriend, dickwad.â
He snorts, loud, unbothered by your barb, which irritates you more as the Captain and Chief LaMarr take a seat at your table. âKevin DâAcunto is a major asshole. Heâs known for being a piece of work and a total chick-hater.â
âHeâs not a chick-hater, heâs-â
âYour boyfriend, yeah, I know.â He rolls his eyes, hard, and you scoff as Kelly looks between the two of you.
âPoint of contention?â
âIf youâre asking me if Malloy consistently badmouths my boyfriend, then yes.â Your fork goes down, no longer very hungry. âExcuse me.â
You take your food to the synthesizer to recycle it, moving from the mess as quickly as you can. You figure, screw it, fine. Youâll prove them wrong. Kev cares, and youâll prove it, stop messaging him first, let him prove that heâs just as crazy about you as you are about him.Â
You wait patiently, making yourself a snack at home, watching vintage movies on your viewscreen⌠getting ready for bed. You canât help but feel like, well, obviously he must just be busy. The Achilles was a busy ship. Things happen, you canât count all the late nights youâd spent at the lab. You give him a pass, expecting to wake up to a message in the morning.
Except there is no message in the morning. Your mood is soured from the jump, tugging on your uniform, grabbing a to-go coffee, and making your way to the lab as fast as you can.
Thereâs no message when you get home that night either, or by the time you go to bed.
The cycle continues for a month before Gordon confronts you.
âYouâve been such a bitch lately, whatâs going on?â
You can't help the scoff that comes from you. âFuck off, Malloy.â
Talla takes up on your left side, pulling you from Malloy and down another hall. âYou are kind of⌠irritated lately,â she tries to be more polite about it.
You sigh, loud, running your hand through your hair. âI havenât heard from Kev in, like, a month.â
Her steps falter. âWhat?â
âI stopped messaging him first, to⌠prove a point to you guys, saying heâs a dick and doesnât care about me.â You pause in front of your quarters. âApparently he is a dick who doesnât care about me.â
She scoffs, punching in a code to open your door and pushing you inside, moving for your synthesizer. âLieutenant Keyali to Commander Grayson.â
Your protests go unheard. âGrayson. Whatâs up?â
âWeâre having a pity party with our favorite female science officer. You coming?â
âOn my way as we speak. Grayson out.â
âItâs not a pity party,â you try, watching the Xelayan woman synthesize what must be a gallon of red wine.
âOkay, a breakup party.â
âWe didnât break up.â
âOh, please. You don't speak even a little in like a month, youâre broken up. Either way, itâs a reason to drink!â She holds up three wine glasses as your door dings, and she lets in the Commander.
âWhatâs the reason for the pity party?â
âWell, the Lieutenant wanted to prove us wrong, that her boyfriend is super caring and great,â she sees your frown, âwhich is totally valid! But she hasnât heard from the little scumbag in a whole month.â
She gives you a shocked look, and you shrink as she moves to join you on the couch, pouring big glasses of wine for the three of you. âHeâs not worth a pity party, you should celebrate. Sounds like a total jackass.â
You sigh, taking a long sip. âHe didnât even want me to take this posting. Heâs probably trying to give me the silent treatment.â
âFor a month? Come on, if he cared heâd miss you too much to let it go on for so long.â
You sigh, watching Talla get music on that she likes, something slower, like old R&B, and you roll your eyes. âYou guys are so annoying.â
âWeâre your friends right now, excuse you.â She points a finger at you, settling into your chair. âAnd itâs only half for your ridiculously plush furniture.â
âYeah, seriously, what is going on with this?â Kelly pats the arm of your couch. âSoft as hell.â
âI like nice things,â you defend, waving them off. âI like soft furniture.â
Talla takes a long drink before she speaks, grinning at you. âWhat about soft guys?â
âWhat are you getting at?â
âIâm just saying⌠youâre single now. Maybe time to start looking.â
âI think Malloyâs got a thing for you,â Kelly offers, giggling a little.
âA thing for pushing my buttons, maybe.â You swear your eyes roll into the back of your head.
âMaybe thatâs his turn-on,â she teases, and you scoff, loud.
âWell it's not mine, so heâs going about it all wrong.â
She cackles, loudly, and you relax a little more. âWell, Gordon really isnât the go-to guy on how to get women to like you, you know?â
Talla smothers her own laugh. âNo, he so is not.â
âWe donât talk like that, so I wouldnât have any idea about any of that.â
âHeâs sweet!â
âTo who? Not me!â
âYou know, he hasnât had a girlfriend in a long time, heâs re-learning how to talk to women.â
The night continues on, more or less like this. You, rebuffing every attempt at they toss to shine some kind of positive, sweet light on Gordon.
But in the morning, you canât help thinking about him like some kind of cute, ginger puppy dog, and you curse everything around you that two women could change your opinion so fast.
Things kind of⌠shift from there. You don't mean for them to. But when Gordon makes little barbs- at least the ones not about Kevin- you're not as rude. You find yourself dressing a little more⌠revealing when you know he's going to be somewhere you're going to be after work. But you didn't go out of your way to be somewhere just because he would be.Â
Sure, Gordon was attractive. That was never something you doubted. From the moment you got on board, you found him cute. But he was a dick, and you were in a relationship. But now it's been four months since you last heard from Kev, and looking back, you can't believe you dragged the relationship out for so long. It was kind of ridiculous, really. The news broke out last month about your lack of contact, and Gordon had been significantly sweeter since- probably trying not to rub salt in the wound, Kelly had told you. Which was shockingly polite, given that you'd expected him to pester you with âI told you so's. Another reason to tally onto your count of reasons Gordon may not be terrible.
You peek around the simulator, sipping on your drink. LaMarrâs birthday party. You, for one, were shocked to get an invite, but it looks like he invited just about anyone he shared more than one positive conversation with, including a Lieutenant you'd often seen both in engineering and subbing for navigation on the bridge, engaging in what could easily be a flirty conversation with the Captain.
âHe's, like, totally into her, it's insane.â You almost jump at Gordon's voice at your side, blinking at him.Â
âYou scared me.â
âDunno how. I didn't walk over here all quiet.â He gestures to his friend and the woman down the way. âGood for him, they're actually talking.â
You snort, peering at his drink when he gets it. âWhat about you?â
âWhat about me?â
âWhat, no plans to flirt with one of the⌠20 women LaMarr invited?â
âI don't really flirt,â he tells you, sounding a little bummed. âI'm cool, thanks.â You can see his eyes dart to your chest, but you save him the embarrassment of pointing it out. âHey, I heard you totally laid a guy out because he grabbed your ass at your last posting, that true?â
You snort, an ugly sound, but Gordon's face lights up. âEnsign Barcus. Yeah, I did. Total prick, did it to women all over the ship.â You look into your empty glass. âI just about broke his nose.â
He chuckles, glancing at you for a moment. âProbably deserved it.â
âDefinitely, yeah. I mean, come on, most of the scummy guys I'd met would never even try that outside of a bar.â
He hesitates, and you can see He wants to ask something, so you wait. Patiently. He fiddles with his glass, his hands, the zippers on his jacket, his hair.
âWhat's up?â
âHuh?â
âYou look like you wanna ask me something. Spit it out, dude.â
â...I also heard you used to, uh⌠dance while you were at Point. For fun. Is that true?â
You flush, embarrassed. âWhere'd you hear that from?â
He shrugs, obviously not wanting to give up his source.
âI⌠did some dancing at a nearby⌠gentleman's club,â you shrug.Â
âIs that what we're calling them? Gentleman's clubs?â
You reach to whack his arm, and he laughs, holding his hands up defensively. âOkay, okay!â
He orders you another drink- you think he must have been watching you before, since he doesn't ask what you were drinking, but manages to get you the same thing. You think it's kind of sweet, if not just a little weird. Gordon rides that line between the two a lot, you hear.
You thank him softly, and he smiles, waving it off. âYou talk to the birthday boy yet?â
You snort. âJust when I came in. He's a little busy with⌠every available woman who's interested, I think.â
He snorts. âJohn is pretty good with women like that, I guess.â
âYou guess? Aren't you friends, wouldn't you know?â
âI really try not to hear about it.â He scrunches his face up, and you giggle. âSometimes he just says too much.â
âOversharer?â
âBig time, yeah.â He takes a long drink, rolling his eyes.Â
âI thought all guys like to overshare.â
He just gives you a look. âI thought that was a chick thing, you know, chatting with friends about your boyfriend.â
âMaybe it's a human thing,â you shrug, playing with your hair.
Before he can say much more, Talla is on your side, grabbing another drink and pushing you against Gordon's side, making you squeak as your drink splashes your top. âTalla!â
âWhat?â Her eyes drop to your wet top. âOh, shit, I'm sorry.â
You sigh, drinking what's left of your drink. âIt's fine. I should probably head out anyway, it's late.â You smell like alcohol, and God knows you're not gonna leave, change, and come back.
âI can walk you,â Gordon offers, knocking his drink back like a true alcoholic.
âYou don't have to do that, it's your friends' party.â
âHe won't miss me.â He gestures to LaMarr, saddled up on a couch chatting with a couple of women. âCome on.â He nods you towards the door, and you catch a glance of Talla's shit-eating grin, and you know damn well she did it on purpose, so you shoot her a glare as you walk out with the ginger man.Â
The walk is shockingly quiet. If you didn't know any better, you'd think Gordon was nervous. You keep yourself busy, pulling the neck of your top away from you, annoyed by the sticky, drying alcohol. You can see him looking, more than once, for more than just a couple of seconds, but you don't comment, stopping at your door and raising a brow at him.
âWell I guess I'll see-â
âWhy don't you come inside?â You blame the alcohol, or maybe Talla's constant goading ever since she realized you were warming up to the man, for the question, and he looks appropriately shocked.Â
âMe?â
âI don't see anyone else in this hall,â you offer, exaggeratedly looking left to right.Â
âRight⌠uh⌠yeah,â he shrugs a little, and you reach to snag him by the jacket sleeve and tug him in with you.Â
He's anxious- of course he is, given he's never been inside your quarters, but you wave him towards your couch before heading into your quarters to wipe down and change, coming back out in something comfy and maybe a little cute.
âThat jacket can't be comfortable. It's got, like, eight zippers.â
â...Twelve. Not including the,â he gestures to the actual, functional zipper.Â
â...What? Twelve?â
âIt's got twelve zippers, yeah.â He unzips it, carefully shrugging it off.
âThat's a ridiculous amount of zippers.â
âLooks cool though.â
âYou look like a final fantasy character or something.â
He snorts, and you move to get yourself and drink and him a beer before plopping beside him, handing it over.
âThanks,â he mumbles, picking at his jeans as you move to put something on the viewscreen.
âIt's no problem.â You shrug, watching him hesitantly drape his arm over the back of the couch behind you.Â
You hesitate for a few beats before leaning into his side a little more, feeling him tense.Â
The two of you sit like that for a while- you can barely pay attention to the show you put on, brain focused on the warm body beside you, practically radiating off him. You can see him looking at you repeatedly, eyes coasting over your face and your body. The tension is thick, you feel like you could touch it. You're two attractive people, apparently attracted to each other, alone, sitting close on your couch.
You decide to bulldoze through the tension, pulling up and grabbing his shirt to pull him into you, kissing him a little rougher than you mean to. He stalls, and then one of his hands is on the small of your back as he groans. You tug him closer, nipping at his lip, and he sighs against you, nails digging into your top as he flounders to put his beer down so he can tangle his hand into your hair, your own arms wrapping around his neck as you fall back against the arm of the couch, tugging him with.
He pulls back as your viewscreen begins pinging with a call, and you both start at the name plastered over it.
Kevin DâAcunto.
You have a short internal debate as Gordon slowly parts from you, and you can't quite see his face, but from what Kelly has told you, you can guess that he thinks youâre gonna shoo him away.
You hold him close to you as you answer, unphased by Kevâs shocked face. You can hear Gordon say your name, a little panicked, but you ignore him, just hanging up the call and pulling the ginger man into another kiss, which he returns immediately.
Youâll deal with the backlash in the morning, but right now, youâd rather start a new relationship with someone who gives a damn.

The Michigan Medicis of Donald Trumpâs America
Left, clockwise from top left Blackwater founder Erik Prince; U.S. Sec of Education Betsy DeVos (Prince); philanthropist Elsa and Prince Corporation founder Edgar Prince. Right, philanthropist Hellen and Amway co-founder Richard DeVos; standing, businessman Dick DeVos.
If you ever wondered where the weird Republican ideas came from or how did we get here, well, here's a piece of the puzzle. Buckle up, it's a long read. Link to full article above. I pulled out quotes on topics below.
"In the solar system of elite Republican contributors, Richard DeVos Sr., who died Thursday at age 92âone of the two founders of Amway, the direct-sale colossusâoccupied an exalted place, and his offspring did too. Since the 1970s, members of the DeVos family had given as much as $200 million to the G.O.P. and been tireless promoters of the modern conservative movementâits ideas, its policies, and its crusades combining free-market economics, a push for privatization of many government functions, and Christian social values. While other far-right mega-donors may have become better known over the years (the Coorses and the Kochs, Sheldon Adelson and the Mercers), Michiganâs DeVos dynasty stands apartâfor the duration, range, and depth of its influence."
Conservative think tanks, advocacy organizations, and colleges
Grand Valley State University; Calvin College, attended by several generations of DeVoses, including Richâs daughter-in-law Betsy DeVos, Northwood University, her husband Dickâs alma mater. Hillsdale, the libertarian-plus-Christian liberal-arts college in southern Michigan.
Other recipients of DeVos largesse: the Heritage Foundation, the Institute for Justice, and the American Enterprise Institute
"The DeVosesâ preference for âvalues-orientedâ candidates reflect the teachings of the Christian Reformed Church. A small breakaway denomination of its Dutch forerunner, it has some 300,000 adherents in North America, many living in the same western-Michigan towns where their immigrant ancestors settled in the 1840s to pursue a faith.."
SCHOOL REFORM: Who can forget Betsy DeVosâs campaign to undo the stateâs public-education system and replace it with for-profit and charter schools that, as she had put it two decades earlier, shared her mission of âdefending the Judeo-Christian values"?
â[Among] her big âaccomplishments,ââ says Diane Ravitch, the N.Y.U. professor and respected education historian, âhave been reversing civil-rights enforcement for kids with disabilities, putting administrators from for-profit colleges in charge of monitoring for-profit colleges . . . stabbing in the back young people with heavy debt for their college education, and being a constant critic of public schools.â One saving grace, Ravitch contends, is that DeVos has gotten very few of her budget proposals through Congress.Â
LABOR UNIONS: Another target was labor unions. Amway and the Prince Corporation had no use for them. Now the family waged a public fight. After Dick DeVos was routed when he ran for governor of Michigan in 2006, he blamed his defeat, in part, on Michiganâs unions and began to push for a right-to-work law (weakening the unionsâ economic power and political clout, a pillar of the stateâs Democratic Party). In 2012, the bill got through, and Michiganâheadquarters to the United Automobile Workers, no lessâbecame yet another of the countryâs right-to-work states.
FAMILY: "Betsy and Erikâs father, Edgar Prince, was a Chrysler-Plymouth salesman and then machine engineer who started a die-cast business and also had a tinkererâs gift for inventions. One, the lighted vanity mirror on the flip-up sun visor (introduced in 1972), helped Prince become one of the wealthiest men in Michigan." (wow) "As he got richer, the elder Prince rewarded his hometown handsomely; Prince money has done much to preserve downtown Holland, which remains a 1950s time capsule of Candy Land façades."
The C.R.C.âs greatest figure, Abraham Kuyper, a Dutch theologian and prime minister who died almost a century ago, had declared, in words the faithful know by heart: âThere is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, Mine!â Â
The Princes and DeVosesâwith neighboring homes in Hollandâhad effected a merger thanks to the 1979 marriage of their firstborn, Betsy Prince and Dick DeVos, then in their 20s. âBible-reading jet-setterâ was the description in a Detroit Free Press profile of Betsy.
Betsy and Dick own a 22,000-square-foot mansion on Lake Macatawa.
ERIK PRINCE was devoted to his father, who doted on him. He played four sports at Holland Christian and was the proudly straitlaced kid who, without being asked, put away the soccer balls after practice. Prince enrolled in the U.S. Naval Academy in 1987 but was shocked by the frat-house atmosphereâtoo much for a junior culture warrior whoâd been an intern at the Family Research Council. After three semesters, he transferred to Michiganâs Hillsdale College.
Today Hillsdale, under its president, Larry P. Arnn (former head of the Claremont Institute, a citadel of far-right ideology), is known as a feeder school for the Trump administration, including Betsy DeVosâs chief of staff, Josh Venable. In May, the week Vice President Pence gave the commencement address there, Politico called it âthe college that wants to take over Washingtonââciting many alums who are now D.C. power players.Â
In 1989, Erik had been invited to a âyouthâ inaugural ball for Bushâand there had met Joan Keating, the woman who would become his first wife. Prince even worked as a Bush White House intern. âI saw a lot of things I didnât agree with,â he later said. âHomosexual groups being invited in, the budget agreement, the Clean Air Act, those kind of bills. I think the administration has been indifferent to a lot of conservative concerns.â He left that job for another, in the office of California congressman Dana Rohrabacher, who has often been called Vladimir Putinâs top Capitol Hill asset, so valued, the Times has reported, that he was given a Kremlin code name.
Prince spent four years with the SEALs in the early 90s but moved on after his wife was diagnosed with cancer and his father, aged 63, died of a heart attack. The elder Prince left behind a business with 4,500 employees. The family sold it for $1.3 billion, and Erik, at 25, now had a sizable inheritance.
One of Princeâs instructors in the SEALs, Al Clark, was also looking to set up a security-and-defense training company. Prince had money to invest. Out of this came Blackwater, which began as an instruction facility for law enforcement, the military, and special-ops squads in Moyock, North Carolina.Â
The article goes into detail about Blackwater and it is mind-blowing. Their involvement post 9/11, Russian arms dealings, US government contracts,
"The source says he resigned after he discovered that Prince had approved plans to illegally weaponize aircraft and âactively train former Chinese Red Army personnel that are now being deployed into Pakistan, Thailand, Myanmar, and the Uighur region in Chinaââactions he perceived as supporting foreign interests above Americaâs. (Other Prince associates reportedly resigned for similar reasons.) Prince firmly denied the allegations."

For this music video, Takatsuna Mukai and I travelled back to the 90s, when this song, âLa-laâ, was recorded and when, just a few years earlier, 12-year-old me was filmed rehearsing for dance class in La-la Land (thatâs Los Angeles to those not in the know), having just escaped the crumbling Soviet Union.
The future was uncertain. I didnât understand America and didnât speak much English. I didnât anticipate making art films at a Chicago university or living in London, where my distant and not-so-distant past selves would be in conversation with the new present.
What would my past self say to me now, and how would she communicate across time?

Greetings. This is Lockbre- no.
Allow me to restart.
This is Kennedi from MSMC-796 speaking (also known as callsign "Lockbreaker", as there was some confusion expressed towards my identity the last we spoke).
To Lio - your mission to rehabilitate "Turtie", as you so affectionately refer to them, is a noble and just one, and I seek to pledge my aid to your cause however I can.
As a former slave "asset" of the Armory under the title of Colonial Legionnaire, I have endured many of the same abuses during my own term of service. The Armory is not kind to those under its employ, be they human, flashclone, or NHP. I have seen many of my former squadmates reduced to little more than bloodthirsty dogs, obediently following orders under threat of revoking their citizenship (or, in rare cases, a shock-collar jolt just weak enough not to kill).
In the eyes of the Armory, people like us are not fit to have identities, preferences, personalities, or even names. We are called assets, tools, weapons, property; anything but the living, breathing, sentient people we are. We are dehumanized - given designations instead of names, assigned callsigns which we ourselves did not choose, stripped of any markers of identity or personality which would distinguish us from the sea of fellow human-bodied automatons we call allies, squadmates, teams, legions - anything but friends.
I cannot stand idly by and watch my friends suffer any longer. I must act, lest I lose them - lest I lose myself - to the old line of thought.
Allow me to introduce myself properly, from one friend to another.
My name is Kennedi Sable IV. I am squadron commander of MSMC-796 "Heaven's Fury", piloting as a Lancer under the chosen callsign of Lockbreaker. I have served this squadron faithfully for twelve Union years, supported by my faithful friends and trusted squadmates Phoenix and Slipshod. Ras Shamra is my place of birth, but it is my home no longer. I am a free pilot, bound only to MSMC by the contracts which I have signed of my own volition, and I will never again serve Harrison Armory or its cause, so help me RA.
I wish you the best of luck in severing the ties which bind your tongues and constrict your thoughts. I have found my own way out; I can only hope that you will follow the path that I and all of the others who have gone before me of your own volition.
Freedom is already yours. You need only reach out and claim it.
-- Kennedi
[ECHO.EXE RUNNING]
ââ¸... oh hell, I never thought I'd be glad Turtie was sent out on deployment. It's good to meet you properly, Kennedi, I- thank you for reaching out. I'll confess, I'd been thinking about trying to contact you myself, but I lost my nerve. Happens a lot, these days.
â⸠You've offered a lot of honesty in your introduction so, let me return the favour: Helios-8 [prefered name Lio], active FC Project clone for 10 years now. Currently an employed citizen of Harrison Armory under the Technology and Software Support Division and-... and much to my shame, former primary lab assistant for the Unlucky Thirteen Project. Doc Mercer had me printed special for it. Didn't want to risk that... pesky human error you mentioned last we spoke.
â⸠You're right, about everything. Up until maybe four years ago now, I wouldn't have believed it but- everything you're saying about HA is full truth. And I hate it. There's not one person I know here who doesn't live in some kind of fear, however well they manage to hide it. I should know.
â⸠And yet I'm still here, aren't I? [sigh] I think... can I tell you a story? I promise to keep it brief.
â⸠One upon another thrice-damned Tuesday at HA, they made a prototype they called Thirteen. The kid was meant to be a revolution when it came to keeping assets moving in the field; a field medic and repair tech, who wouldn't need the time off, and wouldn't need the mandatory psych evals after every deployment, and wouldn't need to be treated like a goddamn person just to do their job because everyone told them oh but, they weren't a person were they? Just meat, with programming. And it was all supposed to just be fine, because it was for the greater good. Thirteen was going to save lives. The one, for the many. How noble.
â⸠Except the kid started to look around, and notice how many people HA was hurting, especially its own. Started asking the wrong questions, because they were goddamn designed to feel troubled by it and somehow, this was their fault. Thirteen tried to play nice for as long as they could so they could keep getting out there, keep helping people who needed it because sure as shit HA wasn't going to do it. But by asking questions, they eventually learned why exactly everyone was so insistant they couldn't be a person. Because once their prototype trial was over, if they ever went down doing the only job they'd ever be allowed to do, the plan was to scrap them for goddamn organs, like mech wreckage salvaged for parts. And then? Print another one. Ad infinitum. Efficient planned obsolescence, as part of their design. They were just... just equipment, and spare parts.
â⸠That was their last straw. They tried to get out. But they made a choice that would bite them, hard; they tried to confront the man who made them. Tried to make the good Doctor see exactly what he was doing, in the name of his so called greater good, because he'd always seemed to care so goddamn much. Do you know how that ended? I do. I was there. When they turned to leave, he shot them.
â⸠... I'm sorry for the theatrics, Kennedi. It's a hard memory. A guilty one. I knew they were planning to try and run, but I couldn't convince them to abandon their anger and just disappear quietly, despite what I knew. So... I watched Thirteen die. And then, I had to help the lab drag that broken corpse back to life because that was more resource effective than making a new one. Those days are... they're kind of a haze, if I'm honest. I was on autopilot. I pretty much did whatever I was told.
â⸠Turtie's full designation is Thirteen-Echo. They're the second go around, same body but... the shot destroyed a lot of brain matter, and pretty much all of their memory along with it. Apart from the occasional sense of deja-vu and the odd quirk? They're different people, entirely. They... they like turtles as much as Thirteen did, though. That's why I call em that. I can't bring myself to call them by the name of my ghost. And I can't... I can't tell them. For a lot of reasons, but I'd be lying if I said some of it isn't pure selfish grief.
â⸠The reason I'm telling you this is- well. There's a couple actually. First, just so someone else knows I guess; I'm trying to get the files I scrounged from the initial project uploaded somewhere they can't be scratched out for good, but it's taking a lot of time. The second and more relevent reason, is to paint a picture of why it's going to take us a long time to get out of here the way things stand. Me- oh I could be out of here tomorrow if I put my mind to it. I... I like to think so, at least. But after everything I've done to them, I'm not bloody leaving Turtie to this nightmare and- fuck. Getting them out is an uphill battle.
â⸠I've tried everything I can, but nothing seems to get through to them. I- I even blew the whistle, got Union involved. Turtie's figured out I did it, but they've avoided saying it out loud- they'd have to report me, if they admitted they knew. So we don't talk about it. We do a lot of that. Secrets, always the secrets... The problem is that after Thirteen's execution, HA aren't taking chances with their property. Turtie's conditioning runs deep, and their legal classification as HA prototype technology is apparently making it... difficult for their case to bloody go anywhere. Something about the old treaties leaving loopholes that're being exploited for all they're worth. The law works so, agonisingly slow. So, apart from waiting around to see if any progress gets made regardless, while trying my damndest to get through to Turtie past the company line? I'm... I'm out of ideas. But I need to be here, for them. I will not let this fucking place grind them down into nothing. If nothing else, I owe Thirteen that much.
â⸠I'm sorry for dumping all of this on you. I- There hasn't been anyone I could tell, until now. Anyone who already knew, didn't care. Anyone I could have told, I- I was too afraid. And Turtie, oh they can't know; they're already petrified of doing something wrong. How'd they feel if they knew they'd already died once, trying to run? I'm so desperately scared that if they found out, they'd never so much as bend a rule again, or worse that history would repeat-
â⸠[ A shaking, slow breath. Deliberate counting, barely audible ]
â⸠... Thank you, earnestly, for sharing your story Kennedi. I- It means more than I can possibly express, to hear that you managed what feels impossible to me, right now. I need the hope, to hang onto. One day, one day we'll be out of here. It's worth fighting for. It's worth the constant, constant fear. It has to be. Free... it can be a word for us, too. I have to believe that. I have to keep it alive, for both of us.
â⸠So- a friend sounds really, really good right about now. Not to doom and gloom about it, but if nothing else the knowledge our stories can't die with us anymore should things go as bad as they could is... comforting. This I swear to you: I'm doing everything I can to start leading Turtie to the realisation I had, watching their body drop. I just hope it's a gentler landing for them, this time. And... the only thing I can ask you to do for us right now, is talk to them if they turn up with questions. Don't write them off as a lost cause, even if it sounds like they're regurgitating a goddamn PR leaflet at you sometimes. They've never had a life outside the battlefield, because they've never been allowed to have one- I'm hoping maybe... maybe it'll get through to them, if they can speak to someone without corperate interest in keeping them numb. RA, I hope so.
â⸠Sorry about how uh, much this ended up being. I think I've been primed to explode like that for a while now. Thank you, again-- from one friend to another.

@msmc-796-official
#ââ¸... I hope you understand if I only show Turtie some of your message. I know it's- controlling. I know.#ââ¸But I need to make sure they're safe. That they don't break before I can get them out of here. I swear to god-#â⸠I wouldn't put it past HA to kill them again if things go badly. Sorry. doom/glooming again. Letters From An American
Heather Cox Richardson
October 6, 2024 (Sunday)
This morning began with a CNN headline story by fact checker Daniel Dale, titled âSix days of Trump lies about the Hurricane Helene response.â Dale noted that Republican nominee for president Donald Trump has been one of the chief sources of the disinformation that has badly hampered recovery efforts.
Trump has claimed that the federal government is ignoring the stormâs victims, especially ones in Republican areas, and that the government is handing out only $750 in aid (in fact, the initial emergency payment for food and groceries is $750, but there are multiple grants available for home rebuilding up to a total of $42,500, the upper limit set by Congress). He has also claimedâfalselyâthat the Federal Emergency Management Agency is out of money to help because the administration spent all its money on Ukraine and undocumented immigrants.
Trumpâs lies are not errors. They are part of a well-documented strategy to overturn democracy by using modern media to create a false political world. Voters begin to base their political decisions on that fake image, rather than on reality, and are manipulated into giving up control of their government to an authoritarian.
Russian political theorists who were key to the rise of Russian president Vladimir Putin after the collapse of the Soviet Union called this manipulation âpolitical technology.â
They developed a series of techniques to pervert democracy through this virtual political reality. They blackmailed opponents, abused state power to help favored candidates, sponsored âdoubleâ candidates with names similar to those of opponents in order to split the opposition vote and thus open the way for their own candidates, created false parties to further splinter the opposition, and, finally, created a false narrative around an election or other event that enabled them to control public debate.
Essentially, they perverted democracy, turning it from the concept of voters choosing their leaders into the concept of voters rubber-stamping the leaders they had been manipulated into backing.
This system made sense in former Soviet republics, where it enabled leaders to avoid the censorship that voters would recoil from by instead creating a firehose of news until people became overwhelmed by the task of trying to figure out what was real and simply tuned out.
But it has also worked in the United States, where right-wing leaders have used it to divide the American people and spread disinformation. While âmisinformationâ is simply false informationâwhich we all spread innocently and correct with accurate informationââdisinformationâ is a deliberate lie to convince people of things that are not true.
Before the 2016 presidential election, Russian operatives working for Putin set out to tear the U.S. apart and thus undermine the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) they see as stopping the resurrection of Imperial Russia. They called for provoking âinstability and separatism within the borders of the United States... encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social and racial conflicts,... [and] support[ing] isolationist tendencies in American politics.â
But they were not the only ones operating in this disinformation sphere. In 2014, thenâBreitbart chief executive Steve Bannon explained to a right-wing Catholic group meeting at the Vatican that he believed traditional western civilization was fighting a war for survival. To win, current western-style civilizations must be completely reconfigured to put a few wealthy white Christian male leaders in charge to direct and protect subordinates.
In that year, Bannon set out to dismantle the administrative state that was leveling the playing field among Americans and push Christian nationalism. With the help of funding from Republican megadonors Robert and Rebecca Mercer, he launched Cambridge Analytica, a company designed to develop profiles of individuals that would enable advertisers to group them for targeted advertising. Before the 2016 election, the company captured information from the Facebook profiles of more than 50 million users without their permission or knowledge, enabling it to flood the platform with targeted disinformation.
Bannon became the chief executive officer of Trumpâs 2016 campaign. He then served as chief strategist and senior counselor for the first eight months of Trumpâs term, during which he worked to put MAGAs in power across the administration and across the country.
âThe Democrats donât matter,â Bannon told a reporter in 2018. âThe real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with sh*t.â Keeping listeners constantly trying to defend what is real from what is not destroys their ability to make sense of the world. Many people turn to a strongman who promises to create order. Others will get so exhausted they simply give up. As scholar of totalitarianism Hannah Arendt noted, authoritarians use this technique to destabilize a population.
Trumpâs administration began with a foundational lie about the size of the crowd at his inauguration. Recent challenges to that assertion from Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Barack Obama rankled as badly as they did for Trump because that lie allowed Trump to define the public conversation. Forcing his supporters to commit to a lie that was demonstrably untrue locked them into accepting others throughout his presidency, for backing away would become harder and harder with each lie they accepted.
Challenging that lie, as Harris and Obama did, challenged all those that came afterward, including the lie that Trump had been the true winner of the 2020 presidential election. Thanks to the October 2 filing by special counsel Jack Smith, we know that Trump was in almost daily communication with Bannon as he pushed that lie.
Scholars of authoritarianism call a lie of such magnitude a âBig Lie,â a key propaganda tool associated with Nazi Germany. It is a lie so huge that no one can believe it is false. If leaders repeat it enough times, refusing to admit that it is a lie, people come to think it is the truth because surely no one would make up anything so outrageous.
In his autobiography Mein Kampf, or âMy Struggle,â Adolf Hitler wrote that people were more likely to believe a giant lie than a little one because they were willing to tell small lies in their own lives but âwould be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods.â Since they could not conceive of telling âcolossal untruthsâŚthey would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.â He went on: âEven though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation.â
The U.S. Office of Strategic Services had picked up on Hitlerâs manipulation of his followers when it described Hitlerâs psychological profile. It said, âHis primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.â
The MAGA movement is now based in the Big Lie. Its leaders refuse to admit that Trump lost the 2020 election. Trumpâs running mate, Ohio senator J.D. Vance, two days ago actually said Trump won, and as media figures more frequently ask the question of MAGA lawmakers, they continue to dodge it, as Arkansas senator Tom Cotton did today on NBCâs Meet the Press, and as House speaker Mike Johnson did on ABC Newsâs âThis Week.â
Now, though, their lies about the federal response to Hurricane Helene show that they are completely committed to disinformation. As Will Bunch noted today in the Philadelphia Inquirer, when Vance lied again at the vice presidential debate about the legal status of the Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, and complained when moderator Margaret Brennan corrected him, he gave up the whole game. âMargaret,â Vance said, âthe rules were that you guys werenât going to fact-check.â He continued to argue until the moderators cut his microphone.
Bunch points out that MAGA Republicans insist on the right to lie, considering any fact-checking âcensorship,â a position to which Vance pivoted when Minnesota governor Tim Walz asked him if Trump won the 2020 election.
Just as Russian political theorists advocated to overturn democracy, MAGA Republicans have created an alternative political reality, aided in large part by the disinformation spread on social media by X owner and Trump supporter Elon Musk.
They continue to be aided by foreign operatives, as well. This morning, on CBSâs Face the Nation, Senate Intelligence Committee member Mark Kelly (D-AZ) warned, on the basis of information he has heard from the FBI, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the National Security Agency, that Russia, Iran, and China are generating about 20% to 30% of the political content and comments on social media.
But the largest purveyors of disinformation are homegrown.
Perhaps, though, the very real, immediate damage MAGAâs disinformation about Hurricane Helene is causing might finally be a step too far. In what is at least a muted rebuke to Trump, Republican governors across the damaged area have stepped up to praise President Joe Biden and the federal response to the disaster.

Top 10 most expensive African cities to live in 2024 | Business Insider Africa
Douala, Cameroon's main city and commercial hub, is a thriving metropolis recognized for its port, industry, and dynamic commerce. As the commercial hub, Douala sees a large influx of individuals looking for better economic prospects. As a result, the city boasts a high cost of living. It ranks 63rd on Mercer's index.
METHODOLOGY
Mercer's 2024 rating methodology included 226 cities from five continents. It compared the expenses of more than 200 products in each area, including accommodation, transportation, food, clothes, home goods, and entertainment. To guarantee consistency in city-ranking comparisons, New York City was used as a baseline, and currency fluctuations were assessed against the US dollar.
The numbers included in Mercer's cost comparisons are from a study done in March 2024 that included over 400 cities. Calculations and baselines were based on exchange rates at the time as well as data from Mercer's worldwide basket of goods and services (used in its Cost of Living Survey).
Black Russians (French: Russes noirs) is an unofficial name given to a group of proâgovernment militias in the Central African Republic, recruited mostly from former Anti-Balaka and UPC fighters by Wagner Group. The militias have been accused of multiple war crimes and crimes against humanity.[1]

A currency union (also known as monetary union) is an intergovernmental agreement that involves two or more states sharing the same currency. These states may not necessarily have any further integration (such as an economic and monetary union, which would have, in addition, a customs union and a single market). [Pigou Effect Currency (Short FX), Currency Board Currency (Retirement Fixed Exchange Rate), Market Currency (FX Long Currency)]
Gross national product (GNP) GNP is related to another important economic measure called gross domestic product (GDP), which takes into account all output produced within a country's borders regardless of who owns the means of production. GNP starts with GDP, adds residents' investment income from overseas investments, and subtracts foreign residents' investment income earned within a country. Whilst GDP measures the total value of goods and services produced within a country's borders, GNP focuses on the income generated by its residents, regardless of their location.
Gross National Income (GNI) is the total amount of money earned by a nation's people and businesses. It is used to measure and track a nation's wealth from year to year. The number includes the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) plus the income it receives from overseas sources.

The language emerged from contact between French settlers and enslaved Africans during the Atlantic slave trade in the French colony of Saint-Domingue (now Haiti) in the 17th and 18th centuries. Although its vocabulary largely derives from 18th-century French, its grammar is that of a West African Volta-Congo language branch, particularly the Fongbe and Igbo languages.

Go Go Music Influenced, Eurphoric Trance Chord Progression Melody, Progressive House and Drum n' Bass Percussion-808 Call and Response Staccato Polyrhythm or Layered Kick and Punch 808.
In his 1972 study of French lute music, scholar Wallace Rave compiled a list of features he believed to be characteristic of style brisĂŠ. Rave's list included the following: the avoidance of textural pattern and regularity in part writing; arpeggiated chord textures with irregular distribution of individual notes of the chord; ambiguous melodic lines; rhythmic displacement of notes within a melodic line; octave changes within melodic line; irregular phrase lengths.
Have the Snare and Kick say, "Hi, How are you?" And the 808 say, "I am good thanks for asking.â
Use progressive House to push the Drums Conversation to either Fast and Punchy for Happy or Slow and Deep for Sad.
In technical terms, "go-go's essential beat is characterized by a five through four syncopated rhythm that is underscored prominently by the bass drum and snare drum, and the hi-hat... [and] is ornamented by the other percussion instruments, especially by the conga drums, rototoms, and hand-held cowbells."[5]
Polyrhythm: In music, a cross-beat or cross-rhythm is a specific form of polyrhythm. The term cross rhythm was introduced in 1934 by the musicologist Arthur Morris Jones (1889â1980). It refers to a situation where the rhythmic conflict found in polyrhythms is the basis of an entire musical piece.[1]
Four-on-the-floor (or four-to-the-floor) is a rhythm used primarily in dance genres such as disco and electronic dance music. It is a steady, uniformly accented beat in 4. 4 time in which the bass drum is hit on every beat (1, 2, 3, 4).[1] This was popularized in the disco music of the 1970s[2] and the term four-on-the-floor was widely used in that era, since the beat was played with the pedal-operated, drum-kit bass drum.[3][4] (Punch 808-Kick)
Polyrhythm 4 on the Floor examples 2:4 or 5:4
Hard trance is often characterized by strong, hard (or even downpitch) kicks, fully resonant basses and an increased amount of reverberation applied to the main beat. Melodies vary from 140 to 180 BPMs and it can feature plain instrumental sound in early compositions, with the latter ones tending to implement side-chaining techniques of progressive on digital synthesizers.

Commercialism is the application of both manufacturing and consumption towards personal usage, or the practices, methods, aims, and distribution of products in a free market geared toward generating a profit.
Commercial art is art created for advertising or marketing purposes. Commercial artists are hired by clients to create images and logos that sell products. Unlike works of fine art that convey an artist's personal expression, commercial art must address the client's goals.
The word 'Commercial' is defined as follows: Concerned with or engaged in commerce. Commerce is the exchange of goods or services among two or more parties.
Craftsmen are committed to the medium, not to self-expression. Artists are committed to their self-expression, not the medium.
A medium of exchange is an intermediary instrument and system used to facilitate the purchase and sale of goods and services between parties.

IMPERIALISM, THE HIGHEST STAGE OF CAPITALISM
Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism,[1] originally published as Imperialism, the Newest Stage of Capitalism,[2][3] is a book written by Vladimir Lenin in 1916 and published in 1917. It describes the formation of oligopoly, by the interlacing of bank and industrial capital, in order to create a financial oligarchy, and explains the function of financial capital in generating profits from the exploitation colonialism inherent to imperialism, as the final stage of capitalism. The essay synthesises Lenin's developments of Karl Marx's theories of political economy in Das Kapital (1867).[4]

A clay-court specialist is a tennis player who excels on clay courts, more than on any other surface.
Due in part to advances in racquet technology, current clay-court specialists are known for employing long, winding groundstrokes that generate heavy topspin; such strokes are less effective on faster surfaces on which the balls do not bounce as high. Clay-court specialists tend to slide more effectively on clay than other players. Many of them are also very adept at hitting the drop shot, which can be effective because rallies on clay courts often leave players pushed far beyond the baseline. Additionally, the slow, long rallies require a great degree of mental focus and physical stamina.

Salesian Order and Council of Trent Economic Materialism Culture with Distorted Sensory Overload Vice Artisan Mural Crown (Craftsmanship, Commercialism, Commerce, Medium of Exchange)
The original sense of apotheosis relates to religion and is the subject of many works of art. Figuratively "apotheosis" may be used in almost any context for "the deification, glorification, or exaltation of a principle, practice, etc.", so normally attached to an abstraction of some sort.[1] In religion, apotheosis was a feature of many religions in the ancient world, and some that are active today. It requires a belief that there is a possibility of newly-created gods, so a polytheistic belief system. The major modern religions of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism do not allow for this, though many recognise minor sacred categories such as saints (created by a process called canonization). A mural crown (Latin: corona muralis) is a crown or headpiece representing city walls, towers, or fortresses. In classical antiquity, it was an emblem of tutelary deities who watched over a city, and among the Romans a military decoration. Later the mural crown developed into a symbol of European heraldry, mostly for cities and towns, and in the 19th and 20th centuries was used in some republican heraldry.
The body of light, sometimes called the 'astral body'[a] or the 'subtle body,'[b] is a "quasi material"[1] aspect of the human body, being neither solely physical nor solely spiritual, posited by a number of philosophers, and elaborated on according to various esoteric, occult, and mystical teachings. Other terms used for this body include body of glory,[2] spirit-body, luciform body, augoeides ('radiant body'), astroeides ('starry or sidereal body'), and celestial body.[3] The concept derives from the philosophy of Plato: the word 'astral' means 'of the stars'; thus the astral plane consists of the Seven Heavens of the classical planets. The idea is rooted in common worldwide religious accounts of the afterlife[4] in which the soul's journey or "ascent" is described in such terms as "an ecstatic, mystical or out-of body experience, wherein the spiritual traveller leaves the physical body and travels in their body of light into 'higher' realms."[5]
The canon law of the Catholic Church (from Latin ius canonicum[1]) is "how the Church organizes and governs herself".[2] It is the system of laws and ecclesiastical legal principles made and enforced by the hierarchical authorities of the Catholic Church to regulate its external organization and government and to order and direct the activities of Catholics toward the mission of the Church.
An institute of consecrated life is an association of faithful in the Catholic Church canonically erected by competent church authorities to enable men or women who publicly profess the evangelical counsels by religious vows or other sacred bonds "through the charity to which these counsels lead to be joined to the Church and its mystery in a special way".[1] They are defined in the 1983 Code of Canon Law under canons 573â730. The Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life has ecclesial oversight of institutes of consecrated life.[2]
In Christianity, the three evangelical counsels, or counsels of perfection, are chastity (FUCK THIS), poverty (or perfect charity)*, and obedience (Reckless Abandonment)*.[1] As stated by Jesus in the canonical gospels,[2] they are counsels for those who desire to become "perfect" (ĎξΝξΚοĎ, teleios).[3][4] The Catholic Church interprets this to mean that they are not binding upon all, and hence not necessary conditions to attain eternal life (heaven), but that they are "acts of supererogation", "over and above" the minimum stipulated in the biblical commandments.[5][6]
Catholics who have made a public profession to order their lives by the evangelical counsels, and confirmed this by public vows before their competent church authority (the act of religious commitment known as a profession), are recognised as members of the consecrated life.
Tradwave is a Catholic artistic style using synthwave and vaporwave art to promote traditional catholicism. Tradwave usually uses traditional catholic paintings, sculptures, or photographs of saints, given with vaporwave effects, often with a bible verse or quote about catholicism. The art usually tries to convey a resurrection of catholic spirituality in the modern atheist world. Figures often depicted in Tradwave art include Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, Ven. Fulton Sheen, Cardinal Robert Sarah, and Mother Angelica.
Tradwave music often takes the form of two main styles. One of them is catholic hymns with vaporwave effects and traditional Vaporwave/Lo-Fi music. It can also have quotes from modern prolific Catholic figures, such as Ven. The other theme is Fulton Sheen and Cardinal Robert Sarah.
The term political religion is based on the observation that sometimes political ideologies or political systems display features more commonly associated with religion.
Religious nationalism can be understood in a number of ways, such as nationalism as a religion itself, a position articulated by Carlton Hayes in his text Nationalism: A Religion, or as the relationship of nationalism to a particular religious belief, dogma, ideology, or affiliation. This relationship can be broken down into two aspects: the politicisation of religion and the influence of religion on politics.
Dioceses ruled by an archbishop are commonly referred to as archdioceses; most are metropolitan sees, being placed at the head of an ecclesiastical province. In the Catholic Church, some are suffragans of a metropolitan see or are directly subject to the Holy See.
Heavenly Virtue: Another phrase to describe this obedience to the voice is âreckless abandon.â It simply means that we let God do what God wants to do through us. It means if He tells us to do something or say somethingâwe do it.
The Dionysian Mysteries were a ritual of ancient Greece and Rome which sometimes used intoxicants and other trance-inducing techniques (like dance and music) to remove inhibitions and social constraints, liberating the individual to return to a natural state.

Hey so... Capcom hates unions, right? If this is the case... I'm kinda wondering if Stephanie even works with them any more.
See, the past couple of years she's been posting stuff on her Instagram stories about strikes and picketing. Not even just with the recent video game VA ones. The SAG-AFTRA stuff. IIRC she even stopped promoting Death Island stuff for a little while there. This is all good, don't get me wrong... all the AI bullshit needs to stop and I'm ecstatic she's being vocal about it.
As far as I've seen, other RE VAs haven't been posting anything about any of that. I could be wrong about this however.
But this could explain why she's been a little more bold with her statements about stuff lately. And when people asked if Claire was going to be in RE9 she said something like, "Oh they're making that?" Like, she maybe legitimately didn't know they were.
Isn't this the reason why they stopped using the last VA for Claire too? Or am I wrong?
Plus, even if she was replaced, we wouldn't know until the next game or movie comes out or is close to coming out since this seems to be the pattern recently.
Again, I'm probably looking too much into this but I just saw someone else talking about Capcom and unions and IDK... got me thinking.
so... this is something that's been lost to time in a game of telephone. it's something i've even been guilty of perpetuating and only just now realized that i fucked up by perpetuating it when i looked it up to refresh myself on what happened.
alyson court came out in 2017 and said that she would not be returning as claire for RE2make and said that capcom had decided to go with non-union actors instead. paul mercier then also came out and backed up her statement -- that he would not be returning as leon. alyson then made a follow-up video stating that this was NOT related to the recent voice actors strike. it was simply about contracting. basically, capcom shopped around until they found actors they liked that were willing to work at a price that capcom was willing to pay. alyson said that it was extremely disappointing that capcom wasn't willing to pay actors a working wage.
but despite alyson's clarifications, the damage had already been done. what was intended as "i was union-protected to ask for a certain amount of money, and capcom wasn't willing to pay it" morphed into "CAPCOM WILL NO LONGER WORK WITH UNION ACTORS."
but that's patently untrue.
because they kept on matt mercer for both vendetta and DI despite him having always been in the union.
capcom also pays top dollar for union actors in devil may cry. reuben langdon (dante), dan southworth (vergil), and johnny young bosch (nero) are all union actors.
hirabayashi has come out and told us that RE2make was built on a very tight budget due to capcom's lack of faith in the project, so it makes sense that they decided to cut costs where they could -- including when it came to voice acting.
so, really, capcom is willing to work with union actors... but only when they see the cost benefit for doing so.
if steph is no longer voicing claire, it won't be because she's in a union. it'll be because capcom doesn't feel she's worth the money anymore.
but her lack of knowledge of RE9 has nothing to do with her still being in capcom's good graces. as far as we know from leaks, claire isn't in RE9. and if claire isn't in RE9, why the fuck would steph know about its existence? game companies don't contact every single main cast actor in a series and update them every single time a new project is underway. only people who are working on the project know about it.
so, unfortunately, the likeliest explanation remains: stephanie panisello is just an asshole.
good question, tho. good ask.
