A real oldie but I hope goodie. :)
Merry and Bright (a Walking Dead One Shot, Caryl AU).
Title: Merry and Bright
Rating: T, if that.
Warnings: Mild language and Christmas cheesiness.
Characters/Pairings: Carol Peletier/Daryl Dixon, Sophia Peletier, mentions of Merle Dixon, Andrea Harrison, Ed Peletier
Merry and Bright
He’s nervous, jittery in a way he hasn’t been since he quit smoking all those months ago, and it’s stupid, really. He’s stupid. Playing Santa for a kid that ain’t even his. Wearing a groove in the floor with his pacing and shit and for what?
It’s just temporary, Carol and her girl staying here.
Just until the dust settles with her divorce and Andrea finds a way to keep that abusive prick away from the two of them for good, and if she don’t? Well, if she don’t, Daryl might have something to say about that and he knows Merle wouldn’t object to being included. Knows his brother probably already has something up his sleeve anyway because Ed Peletier is the absolute scum of the earth, a real boil upon all humankind, but that’s all besides the point because he can hear them, moving about in the other room. He can barely make out the soft murmur of their voices as they start their day, and it’s all he can do to quell the flutter of honest-to-goodness panic deep in the pit of his belly when he hears the creak of the bedroom door and the quiet whisper of little socked feet as they approach. He don’t quite manage and, at the last possible second, he whirls around. Studies the popcorn string hugging the skinny arms of the sad little Christmas tree. The handmade paper ornaments and the blinking rainbow lights, and if his heart wasn’t pounding so loud between his ears, maybe he might have heard it. That gasp of surprise. That gasp of utter wonder. But he doesn’t. He doesn’t. So when his curiosity gets the best of him and he turns around to find Carol standing there with tears streaming down her pretty face? He almost loses what’s left of his shit, arms flailing around and eyes looking anywhere but at her and that little girl. “I didn’t…I don’t…I…it’s Christmas. And I thought the kid…”
“Daryl?”
His eyes snap to her face and she’s still crying, her cheeks all pink and flushed and her blue eyes bright as twinkling stars, but if he squints, there’s something close to a smile twitching over that sweet mouth that’s haunted his dreams since they were nothing but kids finding their way, kids drawn together even when the whole wide world was throwing obstacles in their way. Maybe he hasn’t completely fucked things up. Maybe, just maybe… “Yeah?”
“Shut up.”
Her girl’s mouth falls open just as wide as his and she tucks her face away in the billows of the worn, oversized flannel button-down all but swallowing up her mama’s slight frame.
“Might be I…” He frowns and tries to defend himself, sputters out pieces of an apology because she’s shaking her head, red curls tumbling all over the place and smile fond, if not a touch exasperated.
“Santa.”
“I…what?” His brain finally catches up with his mouth and he searches her eyes, even as the faint seeds of understanding start to bloom. “Santa?”
She nods and squeezes her little girl’s skinny shoulder. “Looks like he’s been busy.”
He glances to his feet, all the gifts in their colorful paper. All shapes and sizes and all for a kid he wishes… “Yeah. Yeah,” he quirks a smile at them both, kneels to pick up one of the smaller packages and hold it in his hands. “He’s been busy all right. Had some help from some real nice elves, though. Heard ‘Phia was visiting, and…well. He heard she was visiting. Heard she’d been a real good girl and left these here for her.”
The kid’s eyes widen with disbelief. “For me?”
“Might be one or two for your mama in there, but yeah.”
“Mama. Santa found me.”
“I told you he would.”
Happy tears damn near make her blue eyes glow and Daryl feels his heart do a somersault within his chest as she mouths her thanks to him over Sophia’s sleep-tousled head. His voice comes out gruff when he finally finds it again. Stands up. “Well. What are you waiting for, Kid?” That’s all the encouragement the little girl needs and it don’t take long for the cabin floor to be covered in a sea of wrapping paper and toys. A curious sort of pride fills him watching her. A warm contentment he’s never known.
Carol’s fingertips kiss his own and she rests her cheek briefly against his arm before raising on tiptoe and pressing a kiss against his unshaven cheek. Smiles at him soft and gentle before curling her hands around his arm and dropping her chin upon his broad shoulder.
“What was that for?” he rumbles. “Ain’t no mistletoe.” He feels her hum ripple through him, set his nerves to singing again and his palms to sweating when he feels those blue eyes watching.
“You saying I need it?”
She’s kissing the corner of his mouth before he has a chance to answer her, cupping his cheek in her hand and damn. Dreams could never live up to this. When she finally pulls away, it’s all he can do not to whimper. If you ask him, it’s some kind of Christmas miracle that he manages to even breathe, much less form words. “Don’t.”
“Good.” She smiles and kisses him again.
If he’s stupid. Well, he’s the best kind of stupid.

not so different
for @steddieholidaydrabbles prompt ‘graduation’
rated t | 994 words | cw: mention of past character death, mention of alcohol, language | tags: childhood friends, friends to lovers, hurt/comfort, good uncle Wayne Munson
🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦
Steve Harrington didn’t cry, not even when he fell off the slide at the playground and his knee bled for 15 minutes and his nanny had to call his mom.
But this was a special instance where he was allowed to be sad. His nanny even said so. He watched all the kids in his kindergarten class taking pictures with their moms and dads, uncles and aunts, grandpas and grandmas, and wondered why he didn’t have anyone here for him.
He found an empty classroom in the big kid hall as soon as the ceremony was done, sat behind the teacher’s desk, and cried into his knees.
“Did your daddy not show up either?” A voice asked from in front of him.
He lifted his head, vision blurry and face wet, to see Eddie.
Eddie had already done kindergarten once, but he had trouble with his phonics, so they kept him behind. He was the first kid to talk to Steve in class, but within a few days, Tommy and Carol and Heather had scared him away from Steve entirely.
“Um, no.”
“What about your mama?”
“She’s with my dad.”
“My mama is with God. Or that’s what a lot of people say. I dunno if she was friends with him or not, though. I think she just got buried in the ground and people are scared to tell me,” Eddie was sitting next to Steve now, his leg knocking against Steve’s.
Eddie didn’t sit still very well, and the teacher always said he had ants in his pants. Steve hoped he didn’t have them in there now; he didn’t want any ants on him.
“Where’s your dad?”
“He’s probably getting ‘rested again. He showed up being silly and my Uncle Wayne had to take him outside,” Eddie shrugged.
“Is he tired?” Steve asked, sniffling and leaning more against Eddie.
“No. Uncle Wayne says sometimes he has too much of the drinks in the bottles I’m not allowed to touch and it makes him act like he don’t got a brain,” Eddie didn’t sound that sad, but Steve still wanted to hug him. “So your daddy isn’t here?”
“No. I think he forgot.”
“Sorry he forgot. My Uncle Wayne never forgets. He even came to the lunch room for my birthday. He brought me a piece of pizza!” Eddie always sounded more excited than anyone else. Most of the kids in the class thought it was stupid, but Steve kind of liked the way his eyes got wide and his smile got so big it took up most of his face. “Maybe he can bring you a piece for your birthday next year.”
“He doesn’t even know me.”
“You can come meet him!”
The classroom door opened just as Eddie started to stand and reach for Steve’s hands to pull him up.
“There ya are, Ed! Been lookin’ everywhere. You want some ice cream?” An older man stood by the door, button up plaid shirt only half-tucked into his jeans.
“Can we bring Steve? He’s my friend.”
Steve’s head turned, shocked that Eddie would say that.
“We gotta ask his parents first, Ed.”
“His parents didn’t come.”
“Oh.” The man looked Steve up and down before seemingly settling on something. He gave a small smile and gestured for him to come closer. “What’s your favorite flavor, then?”
“I dunno. Never had anything except vanilla,” Steve admitted, afraid to look at the man who had to be Eddie’s Uncle Wayne.
“Well, that just won’t do, will it? Let’s go try every flavor at the diner. Benny just added a few new ones. Think there’s even a bubblegum one.”
Eddie clapped his hands and dragged Steve out the door by his arm.
“I bet you’ll like mint chip,” he said as Wayne followed behind them, fond smile on his face.
🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦🍦
Steve Harrington had only cried a few times in his life, but this was the second time it was happening in front of Eddie.
Eddie wasn’t conscious this time, though.
“If you wake up, I’ll take you to the diner and we can have ice cream. They’ve got a new raspberry white chocolate flavor that you’d like. I could use some mint chip right now,” Steve said around the tears.
Wayne had left the hospital an hour ago to freshen up and grab one of his crossword puzzle books. Steve had been crying for most of that hour, holding Eddie’s hand and quietly begging him to wake up.
Two days without hearing his voice or watching his smile light up the room was too long, especially after having it for the last 13 years.
“How’re you gonna walk at graduation if you’re still asleep here, huh?” Steve closed his eyes and wiped at his cheeks.
“You can walk with me.”
Steve’s head shot up at Eddie’s quiet, but surprisingly strong voice.
“Eddie!”
“Hey, Stevie. Heard you’re takin’ me for ice cream,” Eddie’s smile was crooked, the bandage on his cheek covering one of his dimples.
It didn’t matter. Nothing mattered except for Eddie being awake, being alive, being okay.
“Yeah, Eds. Every day if you want,” Steve wanted to crawl into the bed with him, hold him close and feel him breathing and listen to his heartbeat, be sure he was there.
“Gonna hold you to that.”
“Soon as you can leave, that’ll be our first stop. Promise.”
Eddie closed his eyes, but the smile remained on his face. “You slept?”
“A bit.”
“So no.”
Steve rolled his eyes. “A bit.”
“C’mere.”
“Honey, you’re hurt-“
“Come here.”
Steve got in bed slowly, making sure he kept space between himself and Eddie’s injuries.
“Think I’ll graduate?”
Steve snorted. “They’d be stupid to hold you back after you saved everyone.”
“Yeah. ‘M a hero. Fuck Hawkins High.”
Steve could feel more tears trickle down his cheeks, but these were different.
These were relieved tears, happy tears.
“Yeah, honey. Fuck them.”
“Love you, though.”
“Love you so much.”

Till THE DEAD do us part| Chapter 10
A/N: This story will take place in all the seasons, but it’s not exactly a rewriting cause I’d have to re-watch everything to use the exactly lines of the characters, also I think it’s better if I tell a side story without changing the main facts of the story.
This story has a Female Reader, but I don’t describe her appearance, so anyone can identify with her.
Chapter 9 Chapter 11
Masterlist
Chapter 10: I’d carry it proudly
Summary: Y/N and Daryl get in the woods to practice some archery. Daryl gets to know more about Y/N, but she also wants to know about him. Things get heated between them.
Warning: light swearing, mentions of violence, mentions of psychological abuse, past trauma, mentions of pregnancy, Rick being an annoying big bro, make out session, smut, kisses, fingering, dry humping, Daryl’s almost a sex educator in this one. Minors do not interact. 18+ (Let me know if I forgot anything)
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Grimes!Reader (Rick’s Sister)
Word Count: 7,961
Extra notes: I proofread the text, but English is not my first language, so feel free to correct any mistakes, of course with love. ALSO, this is my first smut in English, so I hope it’s not too bad.
“Ready for yer crossbow lessons?” Daryl asked sitting by your side to have breakfast.
“I was born ready, babe.” You answered before shoving some eggs on your mouth. “But if I’m not good at it, the fault is gonna be on the teacher.”
“Let me guess, and if ya’re good is just ‘cause ya’re a pro on everything.” He answered, raising a brown and with a smirk on his face.
“Of course, I have my own merits.” You elbowed him playfully. “Where are we going to practice?”
“Thought ‘bout going into the woods and making some targets in different places and distances. Think it’ll be good to teach ya.” He said starting to eat.
“And how’s your wound? Do you think it’s safe to go?” You asked concern in your voice.
“It’s good, not as painful as befor’” he said, but he didn’t say it didn’t have pain at all. “ ‘sides that, we aren’t going on Nervous Nelly and I have ya to cover my back. I guess we’re jus’ fine.”
You finished eating and then went to prepare everything for leaving the farm to train, you changed your clothes and took your gun and knife to go. You left Luna with Carl and headed to Daryl’s camp, apparently he didn’t want to leave the place. He told you he didn’t want to be annoyed, you questioned how come you could be around and he didn’t had an answer he just grunted, or he didn’t had the courage to tell you he didn’t want you there too or you were the only one he tolerated.
He was ready and waiting for you when you arrived, after that you went in the direction of the woods, walking side by side. The weather was still a little bit warm, but it was starting to have a cold breeze, which means fall and winter were on their way. In the old world, you used to enjoy this seasons, but now you weren’t so sure about it, cause you didn’t know if you would have a roof to be when the really cold weather came.
“That day, did ya think I was going to beat Carol?” Daryl surprised you with a question, bringing you back from your thoughts.
“No, not at all. But I must confess you scared me a little. Beating women just doesn’t sounds like you. I’d never think that.” You said, your hand tentatively brushing on his while you two walked.
“Was… the bastard that hurt you like Ed?” Wow, you didn’t really see that coming. Did he thought your reaction had something to do with it? Did you look so angry that day that he thought it was related to past traumas? Well, maybe it was a little but either way, you think you’d not let he treat anyone that didn’t deserved like that, in the same way you’d not permit anyone to treat him like that.
“Not exactly…” You touched a tree while you were passing. “The psychological abuse? Yes, but he never laid a finger on me. The only time he tried was when we broke up, well, I broke up with him, but luck me we were at Rick’s for a family barbecue and Shane happened to be just passing by the living room. So you must imagine how it all ended.” You didn’t like to talk much about it, but with Daryl seemed just right… Like he’d not judge you or take the guys side how many misogynists men would do.
“I’m sure he deserved all the special treatment Shane gave him.” Even talking with you he observed everything around you, what made you impressed on how he could focus so perfectly on two things.
“You should see, he got worse than Ed.” You took a deep breath, you just wished you could forget everything about him, about that time and about all the words you used to hear from him.
“Nothing that he ever told ya is true.” He brushed his hand against your and caught your pinky on his.
“How could you know?” You observed the dried leaves you were stepping along the way.
“ ‘cause I know ya.” He simply said, for him it was enough and on his mind nothing would ever justify the abuse someone suffered, he could understand it better than anyone.
“He was a sick son of bitch.” You took a glance at your intertwined pinkies and couldn’t help but give a small smile.
“For sure, he had an incurable case of small dick.” You weren’t expecting this sassy remark, but stopping to think it really sounded like something Daryl would say. You couldn’t hold the laugh, he wasn’t completely wrong… Not that you had seen too many dicks in your life, Paul had been your first and only boyfriend being with him during the late high school years, college and a little bit after it, so his dick was the only one you had seen officially speaking, but you already watched porn and his were kind of small if you compared, not even medium to be honest. “By the laugh, I know I’m right.”
“Now, that you already made I confess my darkest secrets, I think it’s fair if you tell me something about you.” You said, you actually didn’t know what to ask, there was so many things you wanted to know about him, but you also didn’t want to pass the limits.
“I think it’s good here.” He stopped in front of a group of trees that conveniently were organized by mother nature transversally and would be perfect for the practice. “How about ya do yer best on our training and if ya do good, I answer whatever shit ya want to know.”
“Deal. Be prepared to answer me whatever I want.”
He got a hammer from his bag and some nails, with it he nailed four wood boards, one in which tree. He was really prepared for the lesson and got you impressed. After nailing the last wood board he came to you.
“First, let’s talk about position. Ya know how to shot a gun, a rifle too. It’s a bit similar.” He took his crossbow and handed it to you, then he positioned himself behind you. “Keep yer legs a bit apart from the other.” He signaled with his feet touching yours to show how it should be. “Now the posture, keep yer spine straight, shoulders to the back.” He placed a hand on your back and with the other hand he pushed one of your shoulders to show where it should be. His hands were so warm that you could feel it even with some layers of clothing. “Now, show me how ya hold a rifle.” You hold the crossbow just like if you were going to shoot a rifle. He covered your arms with his and put his hands on top of yours just positioning it a bit better. “Good, that’s it.” He said by your ear, his lips almost touching you, you could even feel his stubble, sending chills throughout all of your body. “Now if ya wanna have a good shot ya need to look here.” He pointed the middle of the weapon. “When ya see where ya wanna shoot, just press here. Just like a gun.”
“And now?” You asked, almost not breathing, aware of his presence and trying to remain like he said.
“Now you need to learn how to put an arrow in the bow.” He distanced himself from you and you almost cried for losing the contact.
“It can’t be hard, right?” You asked relaxing and pulling at the cord from the crossbow, it was very strong, you’d need to use some force to do it.
“If ya have strong arms it isn’t.” He said. “Gimme it here.”
He took the bow and showed you how you had to pull the cord and then the arrow. It looked so easy with him doing it, like it was nothing.
“Now, ya try.” He handed you the bow back.
You needed to use all your strength to do it, but you did and you didn’t complain in any moment even though you felt a light pain on your arm.
“Try to aim at the middle of the boards, the middle is the walker brain. Too much for the sides and it means the arrow missed.” He said, leaning on a tree that was behind you.
“Are you making unrealistic rules so I can’t ask you your deepest secrets later?” You questioned while positioning yourself to shoot for the first time.
“Nah, I just don’t want ya to be a shitty archer. Ya can thank me later.” He said unamused.
“Well, let’s start then.” It couldn’t be too different than a gun, right? He even said it himself.
You aimed at the first tree, the one that was closer. Daryl made the rule that you could just move to the others when you hit at least close to the middle of the board. You concentrated yourself, took a breath and shot it hitting the extreme left of the board, so the arrow fell a little after the tree. You huffed disappointed and went ahead to get the arrow back. When you turned back, you saw a smirk on Daryl’s face.
“What are you smirking about?” You asked him, you wanted to know what was so funny.
“Ya thought it would be super easy, didn’t ya?” He had a mocking smile on his lips and you wanted to punch him and at the same time kiss his handsome sexy lips.
“I didn’t. BUT I expected I would at least hit close since I aimed at the middle of the thing.” You protested, you were good at shooting and you knew it would take a lot of work from anyone that wanted to be an archer like Daryl.
You prepared the bow one more time to shoot again, honestly now you could get why Daryl’s arms were so muscular, pulling the cord everyday all day was a damn work out. You positioned yourself once again to aim at the target.
“I know ya said, ya didn’t like him like that. But, don’t ya think Shane like ya?” Daryl asked, trying to sound cool as it wasn’t a question running on his mind for a long period of time. First he had thought about it back at the quarry, while you two got close he would receive nasty looks from Shane, as if he hated him. Then he started to return the same looks, and still today he would receive the stares from Shane. When you told your story about your ex, he couldn’t help but question if Shane did what he did because you were like a little sister or because he liked you in a different way.
“Really? Now are you trying to make me lose my concentration?” You got out of position to look back at him.
“No, ya don’t have time to concentrate when there’s a walker coming. Go back to yer position, continue aiming at the target and answer ma question.” He answered gesturing with his hand for you to get back to the job.
“Bossy…” you murmured turning back to the target. “Now you owe me 2 questions.”
“Whatever.”
“No, he never looked at me like that, I guess.” You positioned your body in the correct way again. “I’m 6 years younger than them, or something like this, which means when they started to get into girls, I was still a kid. They babysat me and used the cute little sister card to impress the girls. So, nah.”
“But ya grew.” He gnawed his finger nervously praying that you didn’t look back. He listened to your heavy sigh, then you shot the target and were able to hit a little bit more on the inside, but still not close enough to the center.
“Well, in case you didn’t notice, he’s not exactly afraid of Rick. So if he wanted, he would have made a move.” You answered taking the arrow back from the board. “And, I’d have refused as I already told you before I never liked him like that.”
You were preparing once again the arrow to shoot, he said nothing. The same way he wished he should have kept his mouth shut back that day in the woods in the quarry. But once again he was relieved knowing not only you had no interest in Shane, but Shane had no interest in you.
“Is Daryl Dixon jealous?” You asked aiming at the target one more time and shoot hitting almost the middle of the target.
He took your success on hitting the target as an excuse to not answer your question, because he’d not admit he was indeed Jealous. “Congrats Pup, ya killed the walker. Now move to the next target.”
“And you are not answering my question.” You said while moving to be in front of the second target.
“I’ll answer when ya finish hitting the targets.” He answered grumpy as if he wasn’t the one making personal questions.
“You better do.” You said and shot an arrow on the second target.
You continued training with the bow, every time you changed for a target in a more distant tree it would get more difficult to hit the board and took more time from you to get close to the middle. From time to time Daryl would come to you and help to correct your posture. When you got to the last tree it was taking a little longer from you to hit the target, more because your arms were tired and sore from pulling the cord on the crossbow many times.
You had already lost count on how many shots you had on the fourth and last target. You could tell Daryl your arms were aching and that you wanted to stop, and you were sure he wouldn’t mind. But you didn’t want to give up and go back defeated, also you were expecting you could make some questions to him. There was so many things you wanted to know that you weren’t even sure what to ask. You decided to give yourself 5 chances to hit the board, if you didn’t succeed you’d give up and tell Daryl you’d try another day.
You shot one time, too high. Another one, too low. You tried a third time and it hit on the right side, not too distant from the border, but not exactly close to the middle. You took a deep breath, aimed at the target and shot hitting it almost in the middle. “YEAH!” You shouted jumping in excitement. “Did you see D.? I got it!”
You jumped at him letting the crossbow fall to the ground. You were so happy to achieve the goal that he couldn’t help but smile at you. When you threw yourself at him both of you lost the balance and fell to the ground, you on top of him. He let out a groan feeling pain in his still in recovery wound.
“Oh my gosh, D. I’m sorry. Are you ok?” You asked looking worriedly at him. “Let me check if the stitches are ok.”
He held your hand before you could put it under his shirt and lift it. “I’m ok. I don’t feel blood dripping from my injuries. Don’t need to check.” The move didn’t go unnoticed by you, but you knew about his boundaries, or some of them, you just didn’t know why.
Your knees were on each side of his hips and you didn’t want to waste one of your questions just to know if he was jealous or not. You knew he was, even if he’d never admit it out loud. You looked at his face and finished on his eyes. “You have no reason to be jealous, ‘cause I only have eyes for you and in all those years you’re the only one that made me feel like this, Daryl Dixon.” That wasn’t a love confession, but was really close to it. You didn’t want to scare him or to be rejected by him, but you wanted to reassure him, soothe him and make him feel secure.
The hold you had on him was out of this world, it scared him and comforted him at the same time. He tried to stay away, to push you away… and just like a magnet he was dragged back to you. He stopped fighting a long time ago, but sometimes the life he had before, who he was before, what he suffered… all of this came back to him, and having you saying this words to him, like he was special to someone, special to you, it made him never want to let go of you. He wanted to be selfish and feel that he deserved you, and that he was all the good things you told him.
He crushed his lips on yours, one hand on the back of your head pulling you closer to him. Your hands traveled on his shoulders and arms while you kissed fervently. His hands descended to your hips, fingers brushing on the skin under your shirt. You needed more, oh, you needed way more. You rolled your hips on his, searching for some friction your core aching to feel something, anything. You could feel his voluminous hard on, earning a groan from him, this time not a painful one. He bulked his hips on yours again as you did the same with him, his hands went to your butt grabbing and squeezing it, making a moan scape your lips and go into his. His tongue fighting for dominance with your, making a mess of lips, teeth, tongue and saliva.
A growl coming from your left startled you making you separate yourself from Daryl, that for the first time was ignoring everything around him and hadn’t listen to a damn thing. One second he looked confused at you for parting from him, the other he saw you picking the crossbow that was thrown on the ground, you pulled the cord, put the arrow, aimed at the walker and next second it was on the ground, dead with an arrow on its head.
“That was hot.” He looked at you in awe. He sat up and hands still on your butt. You put the crossbow aside, your arms around his neck. “Ya saved our asses.”
“Guess, Walkers are easier than trees or… I had a pretty good teacher.” You said, a mischievous smile on your face and he couldn’t resist but give a peck on your lips.
“We need to go. It’s clearly not safe here.” He was right. Very reluctantly he let go of your butt, you got up and extended your hand to help him up.
You retrieved the arrow from the walker’s skull and cleaned it. You caught everything you had brought and put in your bags to go back to the farm. On your way back, Daryl took your hand in his, cheeks blushing and all, but he tried to pass normality.
“Yer arms hurt, don’t they?” He asked squeezing your hand a little. You never complained, but he knew that you would feel it, you were not used to this kind of exercise. Also, he saw your pained face every time you’d prepare to shoot again, he didn’t say anything because he felt like he could discourage you if he did.
“A lot.” You confessed. “How did you know?”
“Ya’re not used to it, I knew it would hurt. Also, it was all written on yer face.” He said glancing at you for some seconds. “Ya never complained, ya’re gonna be a good archer.”
“Thanks.” You couldn’t stop smiling since your training spot. That was really a good day, you learned how to use a crossbow, you had a hot make out session with the man that controlled all your thoughts and you used a crossbow to kill a walker.
“When all the shit with the group that attacked in the city is over, maybe we can find a crossbow for ya in a hunting shop or something.” He suggested and you liked the idea very much. You wanted to train more, and having a silent weapon that could shoot a long distance was a good thing. You didn’t know till when you’d have ammo.
“It sounds perfect to me.” You said taking a glance at him, the smile that you couldn’t hide all over your face and hardening you grip on his hand.
You came back to the farm, hand in hand. You left Daryl on his camp, he said soon he’d join the others to help with whatever was needed. You went back to the house almost jumping in excitement, a smile still on your lips. Rick, Lori and Carol were on the porch, talking about something.
“Guess what” you announced once you were close enough. “I’m a pro with a crossbow. Even killed a walker with it.”
“Hope you killed it with an arrow and not throwing the crossbow on it.” Rick couldn’t resist but make funny of you, it was stronger than him… it was impregnated in his big bro genes in the same way his protection was.
“Haha, very funny.” You pretended not seeing the fun on his joke. “I killed it with an arrow, ask Daryl if you don’t believe me.”
“Talking about Daryl… We all saw you holding hands on your way back. Are you now official?” Carol couldn’t contain her curiosity, it was time for you to stop pinning on each other.
“We were holding hands.” You pathetically answered not actually answering the question and just repeating what she said. What should you say? You never put names on anything and you never talked about it. It was too early too.
“Yes, we saw Y/N. But that wasn’t what Carol asked.” Lori stated. “Did something else happened?”
“Stop! Nothing happened.” You replied defensively feeling your cheeks burn and blush run on your face.
“Y/N and Daryl under a tree kissing!” Rick singsonged.
“Shut up! What are you? Ten?” You gave him a light punch on his arm.
“Are you going to help with dinner today?” Lori asked rocking in the chair.
“Yes, with anything actually. Came here to see what you needed help with. Though, I would be eternally grateful if it was something that I didn’t need to move my arms a lot, cause they are hurting badly.” You threw yourself on one of the chairs.
“I’m not gonna ask what you did, because I’m afraid…” Rick was impossible annoying that day, always picking on you.
“Try shooting with a crossbow multiple times and then talk to me Rick. Why did you decide to be jerk today?” You threw the words at him.
Rick would be lying if he said he was calm, he wasn’t. After the attack on the city, the people he killed, his pregnant wife, his traitor best friend and now having to deal with the young man they brought with them from the city… He was far from good, so playing with you, like the old times, brought a sense of normalcy, just as if life wasn’t a shit anymore.
“No reason, I just like to pick on you.” He said before leaving and messing all your hair with his hands.
Later you helped with the dinner and also with the dishes when everybody finished it. There was no way of escaping doing activities with your arms, you needed them for almost everything. You were scrubbing the dishes when you felt a presence by your side, arms brushing on yours.
“What if ya wash and I dry?” Daryl asked.
“I’d appreciate it. Also, the company makes all the difference.” You answered washing some of the plates.
“Are ya going to my tent tonight?” He asked while he dried the plates.
“Do you want me to go?” You asked, you knew he wanted. The simple act of asking you was an indicator that he expected you to go, but you couldn’t just resist and make him talk.
“Yes, I sleep better when ya’re with me.” He blushed, he couldn’t see and he hoped you didn’t see but his face was pretty much red.
“So, I’m going. I also sleep better with you.” You answered while you washed the cutlery. “Just need to take my things on my tent.”
“Take what?” He asked, what would you need besides yourself?
“I’m not sleeping in jeans everyday. I need to wear something comfortable.” You said passing him the cutlery. “Maybe is good if take my sleeping bag too, what do you think?”
“Mine can fit both of us.” He said, he felt that if you had one more sleeping bag you would sleep more distant from him. Which he knew wasn’t true, because don’t matter how you slept, you always ended up hugging him.
“Ok, your tent your rules. I get it.” You answered in defeat. “But, I’ll still pick a change of clothes.”
When you finished with the dishes you said your ‘good nights’ to whoever was still around and went to your tent picking your change of clothes. He went first to his camp while you took your things and headed there too. Lori had asked you early why didn’t you simply disassembled your barrack and moved to his, but having your own tent was a security, if you needed you had it and besides that you could store your things in it.
When you got there he was finishing organizing his things. “Ya can go in, I’m going in a minute.” He said turning to face you and went back to finish what he was doing.
You entered his tent and looked around, everything screamed Daryl, you were getting so used to it that you started to think it was a little bit yours too. You had brought your beloved sleeping shorts and a comfortable oversized t-shirt. You decided to change while Daryl didn’t come. You unbuttoned your jeans and took it of, when you were finishing taking your legs out of it, Daryl entered and he could swear he almost had a heart attack.
“Wha’ are ya doing?” He asked voice high pitched a little in the end of the sentence, glued to his spot unable to think straight, he didn’t look away, but he didn’t move too.
“Changing my clothes?” You said uncertain, but tried to maintain your cool. You mean… you had slept together, but you didn’t sleep together in all the meanings of the word, just the basic meaning. So you hadn’t seen any parts from each other that you weren’t supposed to see. On the other hand, he had his hands on your butt just a few hours ago, so…
“And ya didn’t think ‘bout giving me a heads up?” He asked, trying hard not to look at your showing legs and what he could see of your ass, and failing to do so. He couldn’t take his eyes of you and you could feel his eyes burning on your skin.
“Didn’t think I needed to, besides that you had your hands on my butt earlier today, so what’s the difference on you looking at it?” You answered nonchalantly, wearing your shorts. “See, just covered my ass, but you can still see my legs.”
You took the hem of your shirt on your fingers and lifted it up, taking it out. Daryl couldn’t take his eyes off you, you had your bra on, but could he wish you didn’t? He turned around and finished closing the zipped door, when he turned back you were already wearing your comfortable shirt. You sat on his sleeping bag and looked at him.
“Aren’t you going to change to something more comfortable to sleep?” You asked, you weren’t expecting a show but, if you received it you’d not mind. He stayed in silence averting his eyes from yours. “Are you taking care of your wounds? I can help if you want.”
Silence.
“I’m sorry. Did I pass the limits?” You said, now truly concerned that maybe you should have given him a heads up about changing your clothes. You told him before, you could go slow, but maybe Rick was right… you were jumping from a plane with no parachute.
“No, it’s just…” he tried to find the words, but it was so, so difficult to talk about his feelings. He sat by your side, a little distant from you. “I… my body… it’s…”
“I already saw it before, you know? Not when Hershel was patching you up. One time, you thought nobody was looking and changed your shirt in the middle of the camp. I was looking. It wasn’t my intention, but I couldn’t help but stare, cause you’re the most handsome man I ever saw.” You honestly told him, you went to him, hugging him from behind, your palms on his stomach and your chin resting on his right shoulder.
“You can’t be serious…” he muttered.
“I am. Every single thing that is part of you, is special for me.” You kissed his neck and he sighed. It was a little overwhelming putting so many of your feelings on the table like this in just one day, when Daryl couldn’t really express what he felt. But you couldn’t resist the urge to reassure him about everything.
He didn’t know where he got the courage from, but he took your hands from his stomach and led them to the first button of his shirt. You asked if he really wanted that, and he just nodded. One by one, you opened all his buttons and them pulled it sliding through his arms. Looking at his scars close, was totally different than when he was far, at the same time your heart ached you couldn’t help but admire him, how handsome he was and mainly the man he had become after all the shit he probably went through to have those marks on his body.
You said nothing and he was so afraid you would regret the beautiful words you told him and that now you were disgusted by him, but those worries went away when your lips touched the other side of his neck, your hands went to his arms. Soon you descended your kisses to his shoulders and you caressed his sides. He closed his eyes and tried to forget everything else, how could a precious thing like you think he was worthy? How could you make he feel whole? You kissed every scar on his back, including the new one that was going to be there from the recent wound and at which kiss you’d take a deep sigh from him.
You moved to be in front of him and sat on his lap, one leg on each side of him. He also had scars on his chest and you kissed each of them. You ran your fingers on his hair and looked at his face. He looked at your eyes and he saw pure adoration, no disgust, no pity… just admiration and respect.
“What are you going to wear? Do you have any comfortable shirt?” You, poor little thing, were worried about what he would wear, when you had just kissed all of him provoking all kinds of emotions, from the purest of them to the dirtiest one and now he didn’t even want you wearing anything.
He put his big hands on your face, with one he caressed your cheek and the other he used to brush his thumb on your bottom lip. You were mesmerized, caught in the moment and couldn’t move, you were stuck on his baby blue eyes. In all his life, he could never have guessed that he would be so lucky in the middle of a fucking apocalypse. Yes, dead people were walking around pestering the world. Yes, his brother was god knows where. And yes, he still had to fight for his life, to have food on his plate and to survive. But, knowing you was never something he thought that could happen to him and for that he felt like the luckiest bastard in the world.
He brought his lips to yours tenderly, and just then you came out of the daze you were in and closed your eyes kissing him back. You put one hand on his nape tugging a little at his hair while your fingers massaged the place, your other arm was hanging lazily on his shoulder while your hand touched his back lightly. You kissed slowly, but passionately. He took his time to appreciate your lips, his tongue caressed your lips and you opened them compassionately just waiting to feel his tongue on yours. It was so deliciously electrifying that a moan left your lips, and you had just kissed. His hands descended from your face to your shoulders and soon he was cupping your breasts eliciting another moan from you and making your hips buck earning a groan from him. Your lips parted from each other gasping from air.
“If ya want me to stop…” Daryl started to say, but you didn’t let him finish afraid that he would stop.
“Don’t. Please…” You almost begged bringing his torso the closest you could to your body.
“Good, ‘cause this is gettin’ on ma way and I don’t wan’ it on ya anymore.” He tugged your shirt up taking it from you.
He took some seconds to admire what he had in front of him, the gorgeous woman he had in his arms, before his lips went to your jawline kissing, nibbling and licking. His lips went down your neck treating it with same attention he had given to your jaw, finally finding that spot, that sweet delicious spot… You let out another moan trusting your hips on his one more time, starting to move them against him craving for some contact, to feel more than you were already feeling. Your hands were everywhere on him, his shoulders, his chest, his abdomen and gods… you really wanted to take it a little more down. You felt his increasing bulge on his pants, and it was a wonderful sensation still wearing clothes, you couldn’t even imagine how it would be to feel him skin to skin, you full of him would probably be paradise.
He descended his lips to your shoulders sliding the straps of your bra down, his hands were on your lower abdomen, grabbing, squeezing and going down. His hand got to the waistband of your shorts and as if it was nothing it slided inside your shorts stopping covering your clothed pussy. You were so wet and he hadn’t even made you cum yet. “Ya’re so wet, baby. Is that all for me?” his voice was hoarse and husky and just the act of talking close to your ear made you feel that coil sensation on your lower stomach. You whined unable to bring words to your mouth, you just wanted to continue, for him to take you there and now, but that wasn’t Daryl’s plan. He wanted to do unspeakable things with you, but everything had it’s own time and a right way of happening,
“Yes, Daryl… please gimme more.” You pleaded your voice low just as if you couldn’t breath.
“Shhh… it’s ok, baby. I got ya.” He said slipping his hand inside your panties and now running his fingers on your impossibly wet folds.
He took your lips again on his while his thumb started to caress and make pressure on your clit, making you whimper and moan. He was loving eliciting all those sweet little sounds from you and all the reactions he was causing too. How many times have he daydreamed about having you like this? You were just at his mercy and taking everything he gave you. He slipped one finger inside you and you let out a gasp with the new contact, the wonderful sensation. He moved his finger inside you while his thumb still caressed your bundle of nerves, your walls contracting on his finger.
You broke the kiss, giving him a peck on his lips and descending your lips to his neck and shoulders, while he pumped his finger in and out of you. When you find his spot he groaned, knowing you had found it you sucked it, nibbled it… you wanted him to feel as good as he was making you feel. He added another finger and continued to move, now more slowly as he felt your walls restraining his fingers. “So tight… baby, it must be heaven bein’ inside ya.” You cried out with the addition of another finger, gripping his arms firmly. The tingling sensation escalated so quickly to a new feeling you had never experienced before, a coil building in your lower stomach sending jolts of pleasure to your core making you clench around his fingers. “Oh, Daryl… I… what’s…” You couldn’t make a coherent thought or word come from your lips, you felt like you exploded not being able to control your body that shivered, shaked and clenched around Daryl.
His other arm encircled your body bringing you closer to him while you descended from your high, your face buried on his neck. “Ya did so good for me… Good girl… yes, baby…” he whispered while he caressed your back, his fingers still inside you waiting for you. “Ya good?”
“What was that?” You brought your face from his neck and looked at his face in awe. “I never felt so good.”
“I thought ya weren’t a virgin.” He looked confused, you already dated someone for years, so…?
“I’m not… but sex was just nice? Not like I was exploding and the world was falling apart around me.” You confessed, you never understood what was all the buzz about sex. Well, until now that you experienced it with Daryl, not the whole thing but…
“The son of a bitch never gave ya an orgasm?” He was incredulous, it wasn’t fair that in your whole life you had never experienced it. ‘Oh, so that’s how an orgasm should feel’, you thought. “Unbelievable.”
“C-can you do it again?” You asked shamelessly. You wanted, no, you NEEDED to feel that again.
He took his fingers from your pussy and lifted them to his mouth proving your juices, now he couldn’t help himself but imagine how it would be to have his face buried between your thighs. He hummed in approval licking your juices from his fingers. “Most delicious thin’ I ever tasted”, He kissed you again and now you could taste a bit of yourself from his mouth, and you never imagined how it would turn you on doing so. “Gonna take care of ya, but first let’s take yer shorts off. We don’t wanna do a mess on them.” He said, but by the way things were down there, he imagined it was already messy, well at least it probably wasn’t like your panties.
He helped you taking of your shorts and you sat again on his lap, your hand went to his waistband and you started to fight with his belt when his hands stopped your hands. “No, princess. Not today.” You looked at him confused, like what were you supposed to do if you didn’t take his pants off?
“Why?” You pouted without even noticing. “How are you going to relieve yourself too?”
“We dun have condoms baby.” He didn’t want to risk you getting pregnant, one baby on the way was enough for your group. Did he want desperately to have his cock inside you? Yes, he’d sell his soul for this, but in this world he needed to think with his brain even when he was thinking with his dick. “We’re gonna feel good in another way, ok?”
You just nodded, you trusted him so you knew he was telling the truth. You weren’t a virgin, but right now you felt just like one knowing nothing about sex, when in reality you did know something, you just didn’t know how pleasurable it really could be until some minutes ago.
You kissed him again sucking on his lips, both your hands on his hair, his hands on your back going down till he could feel your butt with no cloth between his hands and you. He grabbed your ass taking a moan from you that moved your hips against him, feeling his crotch on your sensitive and throbbing heat. “That’s it, baby. Move jus’ like that.” He praised you, encouraged you. His hands reluctantly left your butt and went to your back opening your bra, he finished sliding it from your arms.
“This is not fair…” you said while he cupped your breasts as you straddled him. “I’m almost naked and you’re all dressed.”
“Life’s not fair sweet thing…” he kissed your collarbone and soon his mouth was around your left nipple while his other hand played with your other one.
You couldn’t argue with him, in fact you didn’t even want to, you just wanted that he continued doing his thing and sending you to the edge. In few seconds, you were a moaning mess. Now both of you bucking your hips against each other, his lips moving to give the same attention to your other breast. His name escaped from your lips uncountable times while both of you chased your highs, the coil on you lower abdomen building every minute that passed. He already feeling like he’s going to erupt like a volcano on each trust from your hips and every little sound that came from your mouth. One of his hands tangled on your hair and the other travelled between your spine and your thigh. “Come on, baby. Like that… cum with me…” he looked in your eyes and you guided your hand between both of you until you found your clit circling it, pressing it… searching for the same explosion you felt earlier. “D… Daryl…” you whined, your walls clenching around nothing while you continued moving against him squirming from the tsunami of sensations that came from your core and spread throughout your body. Following you Daryl trusted his hips aimlessly on yours while the volcano inside him erupted consuming all of him.
He hugged you, one hand on your nape while the other was on your lower back. Panting and waiting for both of you to come down your highs. You kissed his shoulder before looking in his eyes, your hand caressing his cheek. He observed you, one of your hands still shoved between your legs, he took your pulse taking your hand from your panties and sucked your fingers to clean them from you. “Was it good for you?” You asked now both of your hand on his face, fingers drawing his cheek bones, his nose and his lips.
“More than good.” He hold both your pulses and kissed the inside of them. “What about we clean to sleep, hm?” You nodded at him. He took your shirt from the floor and helped you putting it on. “It’s getting cold, it’s better if ya cover yerself, but bras are prohibited in this tent from now on.” You couldn’t resist but giggle. He laid you down before going to his things and look for something. “Gonna change yer panties, kay? Ya can wear one of ma boxers.” He helped you out of your panties and right after it slided his boxers on you. “Now, I’m gonna change.”
You laid on your side head resting on your arm looking at him admiring the incredible man in front of you. “Am I getting a show?” You asked a naughty smile on your face.
“Nah, better not. Gotta keep some mystery for nex’ time.” He said turning his back to you and taking off his pants.
“Can I look at your cute butt at least?” You asked grinning. He didn’t even answer, just got out of his boxers letting his beautiful round cute ass on display for you, while he put on clean boxers and sweat pants. “Thanks, now I have the image of it to visualize when I’m not with you.”
He wore a shirt and laid with you on his sleeping bag, he hugged you from behind spooning you, his head on your shoulder. You hold his hand intertwining your fingers with his and getting cozy.
“In the end, I didn’t get to ask you anything.” You remembered of your deal for him to tell you something about him if you did good on your training.
“Ya can ask now.” Nuzzling at your neck.
“Why didn’t you want me to take your pants?” In fact you wanted to ask it in another way, but right at that moment you felt a little shy of asking it so bluntly.”It doesn’t count as a question.” You completed fast, before he thought you were throwing away one of your questions.
“I told ya, we dun have condoms. We can’t risk gettin’ ya pregnant.” He should have seen that coming, but well... “In case you dunno pulling out isn’t an effective contraceptive option.”
“I don’t care…” you said clearly not thinking straight he could see.
“Ya’re making no sense woman. Ya’re probably still high from yer orgasm.” He couldn’t help but snort a little at your behavior. “One baby Grimes on the way is enough.”
“Baby Dixon. If it was yours, it wouldn’t be a Grimes.” You said, and he was a little relieved you had your back to him, because he was blushing as hell at thought of impregnating you with a baby Dixon.
“Think it’s better if we sleep. We had a long day.” He tried changing the subject and fighting the urge to break the moment, to push himself away from you. He didn’t want this, but his nature, his inner voices told him to do so, and this time he wouldn’t listen to them.
“I’d carry it proudly, you know?” You said pressing your back against him, trying to be closer, but it was already impossible, since both of you were already too much close in this embrace. You took his hand that was intertwined with yours and took it to your mouth kissing the back of it. “Good night… you still owe me my questions.”
“Night, sweetheart.” He closed his eyes, hiding his face on your neck while both of you drifted to sleep.

Carol's hair: a theory and analysis
Warning: there will be mentions of Ed's abuse towards Carol in this post
I will start this post by talking about my inspiration for bringing this topic up and writing this analysis. A few days ago, the character descriptions for The Book Of Carol got released including this one for Carol:
Within it, there are so many wonderful things. Specifically, things about her relationship with Daryl. Not only does it talk about them being bound by one soul (which is such a beautiful analogy and refers to them being soulmates) but it also mentions how he is the only person who she feels truly safe with and it's this point that reminded me of the theory I have surrounding the topic of Carol's hair throughout TWD and inspired me to share my theory in an analytical post for all of you. So, let's get this show on the road.
In season 9 episode 10, Omega, Carol's son Henry has a conversation with Daryl in which he explains that Carol started out with long hair before the apocalypse and the reason she chose to cut her hair in the first place is because her late, abusive husband, Ed, would use it to his advantage and pull at it before throwing or pushing her against a wall or hard surface. This meant that Carol grew afraid of having her hair longer in case anyone else treated her in the same manner. Henry goes on to explain that he feels the reason why she was able to fully grow it out again is because she met Ezekiel, someone who treated her right and finally made her feel safe enough to grow her hair out again, safe in the knowledge that Ezekiel would never hurt her in the way that Ed has.
However, I don't and never have believed that Carol growing her hair out was to do with Ezekiel and this character description only confirms my thoughts and suspicions to me. I have always thought that Carol growing out her hair was down to her one and only safe person, safety net and soulmate: Daryl.
Whilst it remains short, you can see Carol's hair is starting to grow slightly by the beginning of season 3, way earlier than she met Ezekiel. This fits in with Carol starting to grow her hair out because of Daryl because season 3 takes place just after the farm era - where Daryl and Carol started to become closer with him giving her the Cherokee Rose and looking endlessly for her little girl, Sophia.
Even when Carol is married to Ezekiel, she spends the majority of her free time, when she doesn't have obligations and responsibilities at the Kingdom, visiting Daryl at his camp in the woods, making sure he's okay and trying to maintain her strong bond with him.
Something interesting to note is that even after Carol breaks up with Ezekiel in season 9, episode 16, The Storm, she still keeps her hair long because despite Ezekiel not being by her side anymore, her safety net and soulmate, Daryl, still is. He is the one there keeping her from harm, giving her comfort, making sure she's safe, never turning his back on her, never hating her.
So you might be thinking - why does Carol cut her hair again right at the end of the show in the finale? Ask yourself - if Carol feeling safe enough to grow her hair about was really about Ezekeil, why would she wait until the finale of the show to cut it again? Again, I feel that there is a very simple answer to this - it was never about Ezekeil. So, Carol cut her hair again right at the end of the finale - does this mean she doesn't feel safe anymore? The answer to this is yes but why? Think back for a moment - what happens just after Carol cuts her hair again? - Daryl leaves. Obviously, we can’t be sure where abouts in that last year long time jump Daryl decided to leave or when exactly Carol cut her hair but my theory, that to me makes a lot of sense, is that Carol decided to cut her hair again when Daryl decided to leave because her safe person, her safety net, was leaving her and without him there for her, she didn’t feel safe again. That’s not to say that Carol doesn’t in fact keep all of her badass qualities but the one person whom always been there for her (and whom she has been the same for him), the person who is her rock, her confidant, her soulmate - has gone and that leaves her feeling a sense of vulnerability that, in my opinion, she will not get back until they reunite.
The character description above, particularly where it talks about Daryl being the only person to make Carol feel truly safe, only confirmed to me how much my thoughts are likely correct and I love that. I hope you enjoyed my analysis!

the first person he ever tells is Karen. Stuart doesn’t care, but Carol is supportive. She’s the “my son’s gay so i can do what i want bitch 😡” type of mom, if you know what i mean.
when he gets older, he can’t afford to go to college, so he joins Crimson Dawn for a short amount of time to raise some money. He becomes known as “the hot blonde singer with a mullet,” and he brags about it constantly.
he reconnects with whoever that girl from getting gay with kids is, and they’re together for a while. they break up when butters comes out as marjorine, since kenny’s reaction is literally just “hellooooooo nurse!”
he continues to be a superhero on the side. not in south park, but in neighboring towns. he still is mysterion for karen, though.
all of the girls think he’s gay when they’re all 14 so he gets invited to their sleepovers. they soon realize that he just kisses boys sometimes and stop inviting him. he has a full-blown crying session with marjorine over this.
he smokes, but that’s about it
his biggest accomplishment is that time he fit 10 jumbo marshmallows in his mouth
no, he doesn’t give good head or whatever. he can’t even deepthroat a popsicle jesus christ
his favorite food is mcdonald’s ice cream
he is, and always will be, an ipad kid
his favorite movies are still madagascar 1, 2, and 3
he still remembers what happened when the gang broke up. he remembers his deaths, so some sort of weird time loop thing is why he remembers it.
the mccormicks have been in the cult of cthulhu for a longgggg time

Head Filled With Demons Part 2 (Steddie X You)
A/N: If you haven't read that first one please do! It explains some things. Again, I play fast and loose with demon mythology and some things that happen in Season 4 of Stranger Things.
By the way! You guys ask a lot of thought provoking questions :). I love it! I do want y'all to know I plan on answering any things I allude to in any of the chapters in future ones so dont worry <3
There is a scene where they are talking in her head. Eddie's dialogue will be in red.
Warnings: Demon Steddie X Human Female Reader, SMUT, this dips heavily into their dominate side (smacking, rough smut, choking, taunting, holding her wrists down, undermining names like "Little Girl".), there are mentions of the readers past relationships with other partners crossing the lines (very brief). FLUFF, they do open up a bit more with her and vise versa.
ANGST: Lots of Angst! We do learn more about why both demons were banished. There are two killings including the HER Eddie has mentioned. Readers father is sick, talks about losing her mother, this chapter does focus a lot on the grief of losing any kind of loved one <3, mentions of blackmail (in a vision) as well as a sick child (very brief, not described just mentioned).
Word Count: 7545
It’s so warm…why is it so warm?
As your eyes shoot open, you realize the room is on fire and you immediately jump out of bed. Bolting to your window, you try to pull it open but it won’t budge. The buildings outside are in just as bad a shape as you watch Hawkins residents run from the blazes that surround them.
“Dad?!”
Quickly, you run to open the door and head to your father’s room, shocked when you don’t find him there.
“Dad! Where are you?!”
Sprinting into the burning living room, your stopped by the presence of your two demons looking down at you with soft smiles.
“We told you what would happen, honey.”, Steve shrugs. “It’s kind of funny this is how we would go out, huh Ed?”
“No! I still have time!”
“No, sweetheart. You don’t…but you did the best you could.”
“Where…where’s my dad?”
They don’t answer as they continue to stare at you with those gentle brown eyes. It reminds you of how each of your parents looked at you when they told you they were sick; pain and empathy, mixed with…acceptance.
“You don’t have to stay here. Go to Oblivion. You said you could live there and be safe!”
Eddie stepped forward and tenderly ran his thumb along your bottom lip.
“I already lost one princess. I’m not losing another.”
Abruptly, he yanks you to his chest and wraps his arms tightly around you before you feel another set of limbs hook around your waist. The world around you seems to shake as the house caves in—
A gasp leaves your mouth as your body shoots up in your bed. Panting, you look around the room trying to find your bearings as you slowly begin to realize you’re safe and it was all just a dream.
On impulse, you reach out to the other side of the bed behind you only to realize Steve isn’t there; neither of them are. Sighing, you rise from the mattress and get ready for the day.

“I see Space Cadet is back.”, Carol mocks as she smacks her gum. “Are you going to work today or are you just going to stand there staring into the void?”
You glare at her, flashing a fake smile as you continue to fold the clothes in front of you.
“No one would blame you for killing that one.” You jump at the sound of Eddie’s voice. “After what she did to you and the fact that she still has the audacity to still be a bitch.”
“Plus, popping gum like that is fucking annoying.”
You smirk at Steve’s comment as you try not to look at either of them, not wanting to seem like a crazy person talking to yourself.
“Y/N! My office, please.”, your boss shouts from across the store.
“Geez, ok Dick, don’t need to yell.”, Eddie playfully whines as you head towards the back area.
“Hey Richard. Is something wrong?”
“Um, yes, Y/N there is but don’t worry we’re talking to everyone not just you. It seems that…”
His voice drones on as both demons lean against the wall behind him. “He’s not an innocent for sure. He blackmails women all the time who are caught shoplifting.” Steve snaps his fingers and you see a quick flash of your boss sauntering around the office you are currently in as a twenty-something year old girl sits with her arms folded.
“Now, I don’t want to call the police and I don’t have to…if you do something for me. A girl like you seems to be very good with her hands…”
“What do you think, Y/N?”
You rapidly shake your head and the image disappears. “Huh?”
“I asked if you noticed anything odd since we’ve been missing money from the till every night.’
“Oh! Um… no I haven’t but I’m also not here past six because of my dad…”
“That’s right. I’m sorry I completely forget that you look after him. Alright, just...you know…keep both eyes open.”
Politely nodding, you get up and leave the room as quickly as possible.
“You need a new job, sweetheart. Maybe after you save the world from the apocalypse you can find something better with people who aren’t douchebags.”
“That’s every customer service job though.”, you whisper.
“She’s not wrong.”, Steve chuckles. “It’s like hell before you go to hell.”
Turning to face the wall, you pretend to organize some of the items in front of you. “Have you two ever been there? Hell?”
“Steve, I’m starting to think she can’t read. No, Y/N. We’re from a different realm, remember. Completely different place.”
You scowl at him, stomping towards the backroom where no one could see you. As soon as you closed the door, they both appeared behind you.
“Why are you such an asshole to me? Aren’t you supposed to be like on my side or something? Didn’t that thing say you two were good at relieving stress?”
“I don’t know, you tell us. Did we do good last night?”
“That doesn’t give you license to be a jerk. And aren’t you supposed to be protecting me?”, you ask gesturing towards Steve.
“From physical harm, not your personal feelings.”
“Y/N!” You huff under your breath as Carol barges into the room. “Are you going to work today or what?!”
“No! No, Carol, I’m fucking not! I’m using some of my sick leave.”
“Y-you can’t do that!”
“I can’t? Well shit. I should stay here then. Maybe I can talk to Richard again about how great of an employee you are. I think he would love to hear about you fucking my boyfriend in the breakroom during business hours!”
“I-I-I…um…”
“Good. I’ll see you in a few days.” You give her a sassy wink as you storm out the front door.
########
You lean your head next to your mother’s gravestone as you exhale heavily.
“That was amazing. Watching you standing up for yourself like that.”, Steve softly smiled as they both sat next to you. When you didn’t respond, he glared at his friend and nudged him with his elbow.
“Y/N, I’m…ugh…I’m sorry for…hurting your feelings.” Eddie winces at the last word like it left a bad taste in his mouth.
“Have you always been mean like this?”
“Yes.”
“No.”
You giggle at their answers as you shift your body to face them a bit more.
“Were you ever mean to her? Your princess.”
The metalhead’s eyes clouded over with anger as he growled and turned away. “I told you not to talk about that. You don’t know anything about it.”
“That’s why I’m asking.” When he growls again, you sigh turning your attention towards the gravestone next to you. “When my mother died, it killed me to talk about her. I know that sounds dramatic but it’s true. Anytime anyone would come up to me and give me their condolences or talk about some memory with her it was like being stabbed in the chest. I would always think ‘The fuck do you know? She was my mom and meant so much to me.’ People only knew her for small moments…I knew her my whole life.”
When you glance at Eddie again, you notice his entire demeanor has changed. He’s still glaring at the ground but his face softened as he listened to you speak. His jaw tightened before his eyes closed and he snapped his fingers. Images filled your mind of a beautiful, bright world with the sun beaming on a mansion style home.
You heard sniffles from a figure sitting outside against the wall of the house. She was curled into a ball, crying into her arms as she hugged her knees to her chest.
“Are you alright?” The girl jumps at the sound of Eddie’s voice. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to startle you, princess. I just…wanted to see if you were okay.”
“Yeah, I’m…can I ask you something?”
He comes to her side and slides to the ground. “Of course.”
“Do you…ever feel like…you’re losing your mind?”
Eddie flashes her a toothy smile before playfully pouting out his lips. “Oh, you know…just on a daily basis.” As she laughs, his smile grows. He loved the sound of her laugh. “What’s going on, Chrissy?”
She gazes up at him with her big, beautiful eyes before curling up in his side. “My dad wants me to marry someone I don’t want to.” She began to cry harder as he pulled her tighter to him, resting his chin on her head. “I just want to be with you.”
The memory cleared and you were back in reality.
“She was gorgeous.”
“Yeah…she was.”
“Do you know what happened? To her I mean.”
“Does it matter?”, Eddie snapped. “She fucking died and they blamed me.”
Steve hesitated a bit before raising his fingers and snapping them together.
“Chris! Come on!”, Eddie whispers as he enters her room. “We need to go now, babe.”
His eyes scan the scene in front of him as his body freezes at the sight. Chrissy was on the floor with a knife in her chest as blood drenched the carpet around her. The weapon was one he had used before but gave to her so she’d feel safe.
“Baby?” He fell to his knees as he reached out to touch her face…she was gone. “N-no. No, no, no!” Eddie pulled out the knife and threw it across the room as he lifted her into his arms. “Wake up, princess, please! Please, baby. I need you.”
The doors to her room flew open as her father’s guards charged in; people he knew Chrissy considered like family.
“Come on, Edward. Don’t make this harder than it has to be.”
He tenderly kissed the princess’s forehead before slowly getting to his feet and bolting towards the hidden exit he entered through.
“You fucking asshole!” The memory shook from your mind as Eddie punched Steve in the arm. “Don’t you ever show her my memories again! You had no right!”
“To be fair, I got banished with you. I have every right.”
“Fuck you.”, he growled before abruptly disappearing.
“Where do you guys go when you vanish like that?”
Steve sighs as he gestures absently. “Around. We can’t go far but…”
“Do you blame him? For getting you kicked out of your home?”
Without any hesitation, he shakes his head and snaps his fingers again.
“Steven! How can you not know where he is?! He is your best friend!”
“Sire, trust me, I’ve looked for him. I want to talk to him to but he’s nowhere to be found.”
“Please…talk to him about what?! The only thing I want to hear from him is the sound of his screams when he’s tortured for all eternity.”
“Sire, if I may, he wouldn’t hurt her. They were friends.”
The king loses his composure and shoves the demon against the wall of his home. “I don’t give a fuck what they were. He KILLED my child. Now, either you bring him to me or you can join him in a cell. Personally, I don’t care where you end up.”
“I knew he didn’t do it. The three of us were friends. I saw the way they were together. She was always happier in his arms than anywhere else.”
Your heart breaks as you lean against his shoulder. “Did you ever have anyone you felt that way with?”
He grins as he leans back on his hands. “There was this girl I really fell for. Would you believe she ended up with a demon slayer?! Of all people!” His grin grows when you genuinely laugh. “Come on, honey. Let’s get you home.”
“You’re not going to harass me into killing someone tonight?”
“Not tonight. I think you earned a break.”
***
“Miss Y/L/N?”, the man greets you as you’re walking up the path to your house.
“Um, yes? Can I help you?”
“I’m Detective Hopper and I just wanted to ask you a couple of questions if that’s alright.”
“Oh, um, sure…of course.”
“Did you see anything strange last night or out of the ordinary? Maybe someone in the neighborhood you had never seen before.”
“Ah, no sir. I usually work until 6 and then I come home to take care of my father. He’s in bed most of the time so he wouldn’t have seen anything either.”
“I’m sorry to hear that. That he’s ill…not that he didn’t see anything… Look, here’s my card. If you remember something or if you see something suspicious just give me a call.”
“Yes, sir. Should I be worried? Did something happen?”
“Oh, nothing for you to be worried about ma’am. Just always make sure to think smart and stay safe.”
You nod and watch him get into his car before driving away.
“You wouldn’t want to kill him. He’s actually one of the few good people here.”, Eddie exhales in frustration. “You two have a lot in common though. His daughter got sick and passed away a few years after your mom.” As he raised his fingers to snap them, you quickly closed your hands around his.
“Please… not really something I want to see. I know what it feels like with a parent. I can’t imagine what he went through with a child and I don’t want to.”
He nods his head, affirming your request as you open your front door.
“Dad, what did I say? You’re supposed to be in bed.”, you whine as you take off your jacket and head towards him.
“In my defense, you weren’t supposed to be home for another hour.”, he chuckles. “Who are your friends?”
You freeze as you turn to give him your attention. He’s smiling directly at the demons in front of him but only you should be able to see them, right?
“My friends?”
“I know it’s been awhile since you’ve brought anyone over but yes, Y/N, friend.” Your dad rises to his feet and extends his hand to both of them, beaming proudly when they finally shake it. “What’s your name, boys?”
Holy shit. He can see them…
“I’m Steve and this is my friend Eddie.”
“Pleasure. How do you know my daughter? From work?”
“Something like that.”
“She’s never mentioned you but she doesn’t tell me much about that store to be honest. Well, I hope you’ll stay for dinner.”
“Which I will make in a bit. I just have to talk with them about something really fast here. Come on, guys.” You shove them towards your bedroom and shut the door. “Why can he see you?!”
“I, honestly, have no idea. Maybe family members can see us to.”
“Eddie, how stupid do you think I am? ‘Maybe family members can see…’ You two have been doing this for how long and you’ve never come across this before?!”
“No, we haven’t. I think more than anything though we should focus on the fact that we don’t eat.”
“Not food anyway.”, Eddie smiles coyly in your direction making you giggle.
“You’re so stupid. Ok, ok. I trust you. Um… you can’t eat any type of food?”
“No. We don’t get our energy that way like you humans do.”
“Shit.” You continue to think before clapping your hands. “I got it!”
###############
Your father laughed as he continued telling the demons the story of how he and your mom met. He loved to tell that story to anyone who would listen and to your surprise both of them did in fact listen. They seemed so entranced in his tale like little kids listening to an adult read them a book.
“I’m telling you, boys. I literally fell for her, flat on my face! She was so beautiful though… I couldn’t take my eyes off her when she went out onto that stage and danced. I remember thinking ‘what the hell would a ballerina want with a greaser like me’? She got so mad when I actually asked her that.”, he chuckled.
“Could she do the whole spinning on her toes thing?”, Steve asked as you came around to clear their dishes.
You had decided to make a meal that required bowls instead of plates so their meals wouldn’t be on display and they could hide the fact that they weren’t eating anything.
“She absolutely could. The first time she showed me, she explained how she was doing it like she was reading a phone book. Just so monotone!”
“Yeah, dancers have amazing strength in their legs and abs. Chrissy used do flips and stuff all around her house and I was just amazed.” Eddie paused then, realizing what he just said as he shifted his gaze down to the table.
When you sat back down, you placed your hand on his lap comfortingly. You dad sensed the change in tone, knowing it all too well.
“When my wife died…it was like getting hit by truck. We had so many more plans and things we wanted to do. I hate that we didn’t have more time but I’m so grateful for the time we had and the gift she gave me.”, he smiled as he gestured towards you. “No one can take those memories away from you, son. I’m sure while she was here you made her feel happy and loved.”
Eddie’s hand reached down to cover yours as he held your hand. You knew he was trying to not disappear again especially since your dad could see him. He as being forced to face this conversation and it was killing him.
Your father began to cough and you quickly ran to his bedroom, coming back with his medication.
“Stop! Don’t…don’t look at me like…like that. I’m fine.” You wrap your arms around his neck and he leans back into your hug. “Here…I’ve bothered your friends…enough. Go spend some time together…without this old man.”
“It was a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Y/L/N.” Steve politely grins down at him, Eddie doing the same. Before he can walkway though, your dad tugs on his hand.
“It’s…it’s ok to care about someone again…Eddie. You’re not replacing her…you’re just…opening your heart again.”
The demon gently pats his shoulder as he leaves him to head for your room.
***
You sat on your bed, fiddling with their stone as you continued to examine it.
“What’s it like for you guys in here?”
“We’re not genies, honey. We don’t literally live in the stone. It’s just a conduit, I guess you would call it.”
“We have kind of a whole little area to ourselves.”, Eddie adds.
“Can you show it to me?”
“Uh, unfortunately no, and trust me. You don’t want to see it.”
“Are you prisoners?”
Their eyes shoot up to fully look you over.
“I guess it depends on your definition of ‘prisoner’.”
A heavy sigh leaves your lips as you meet their gaze. “Are you happy?”
“I don’t really remember what happy feels like.” Steve turns to glance at his friend, taken aback by his honesty. “After she…Chris… died, I felt so lost. I didn’t know what to do so I ran. While we were wondering around the realms, by the time we found the one who gave us this task I was elated. At least we could finally stop moving around and just do this.”
“Steve?”
“When the princess was killed, everything changed. Home didn’t feel like home anymore.”
His fingers hovered in the air again, pausing before Eddie nodded and he snapped them together.
A front door burst open and Eddie was tossed violently to the ground at Steve’s feet.
“Found him trying to get in a boat and swim across the shoreline there.” One of the demons boasted as he held the wanted demon down with his boot. “This is it. Imagine how the king will reward us when we bring him the head of the demon who brutally slaughtered his daughter.”
Eddie flinched as he laughed.
“Wait. Who said anything about killing him here? We’re supposed to take him back alive.”
“I’m pretty sure his majesty won’t mind if we—”
As the demon kicked his friend, Steve shoved his chest knocking him back.
“No! We follow orders.”
“What do you care? Don’t get soft now just because he’s your best friend. I’ve seen you tear apart demons you’ve known longer than him just because you were told to.”
“That’s right. I was ordered to. Just like I’m ordered to bring him in, Jason.”
“The princess was your friend to. You saw what he did to her. Are you really going to let him get away with that? Don’t you want to fuck him up even a little bit?”
Steve looks down at his bleeding friend before growling low in his throat. “I do.”
“There we go! Let’s tie him up with that rope and—”
While the demon was talking, he made the mistake of allowing Steve to get behind him, giving him enough opportunity to ram his bat into his skull. Jason fell to his knees before slumping to the ground. He yanked his weapon back and pointed the end towards Eddie.
“What. Happened?”
“I-I don’t know. She was dead when I got there, Steven. I swear. I would never do anything to hurt her.”
His jaw clenched as he extended his arm for his friend to take.
You gasped as your reality came flooding back.
“Whoa! Are you okay?”
“Yeah, just…gore…not a fan. Even after—”
“Sorry. You get used to a story so much you kind of forget details like that.”, Steve chuckles. “So, yeah, I didn’t really care to go back home if everyone was going to be like that especially since one of my friends was dead and the other was banished.”
“Aw, I love you to, man.”, Eddie smiled as he patted his back before turning to look at you. “What?”
“Nothing. It’s just…you’re not like how I would expect demons to be…”
His grin grows as he covers the side of his face with his long hair. “Mean and scary?”
“Something like that.”, you giggle.
He and the other demon share a look and he knows without his friend having to say it; you are just like Chrissy.
“We can be mean if you’re into that.”, Steve winks.
“Oh, I don’t know. I’ve never… you don’t have to…”
“Don’t have to what?” His head tilts when you gesture towards your body, mimicking your movements. “I don’t know what this means. You have to say what you’re thinking out loud like a good girl.”
“You don’t have to…sleep with me again.”
“Did we sleep last night?”, Eddie asks playfully. “I don’t remember much sleeping.”
“Oh my God-goodness. I’m just saying you don’t have to! I’m not someone you have to please or whatever.”
“Why did you correct yourself just now?”, he inquires as he wiggles his finger in your direction. “You started to say God and then stopped. Why?”
“Um…I don’t know. I—”
“You’re a terrible liar.”, Steve laughs.
Your gaze shifts between theirs as their eyes heavily penetrate your own. “Eddie didn’t like it. I don’t want to offend you or anything.”
The demon softly smiles at your honest answer. “You listen. You are a good girl.” He turns to face his friend who leans his head against the wall behind him. “Now can we use her our way?”
A heavy exhale leaves your lips at his choice of words as they both focus back on you.
“What do you think, Y/N? You want to play the demon way?”
“Will-will it hurt?”
Steve shakes his head as Eddie grins. “Not unless you want it to.”
“Is, um, is there a safe word or something…”
“Do you feel like you need one?”
“I think you forget, sweetheart, that we can read you. We know where your boundaries are.” The metalhead looking boy snaps his fingers and you see a quick flash of all your sexual counters. None extremely worthwhile but a couple of times, men had crossed a line.
“Ow, Dean! Don’t bite me like that. It hurts.”
“Stupid whore. You like being fucked hard like this don’t you, slut?”
“Honestly, Kevin, you’re making me feel dirty not sexy.”
“Ow! Y/N! Jesus Christ, Stop!” The boy ducks as you try to smack him.
“You’re supposed to go slow, you asshole! Not just ram it in. I told you I’ve never done anal before!”
“Hm, thanks for that.”, you whine as you wave your hand in front of your face like it wipes the memories.
“We wouldn’t hurt you like that but, again, if it makes you more comfortable…”
“I…I trust you.”
They both smirk in your direction and a shiver runs down your spine to your core at the sight.
“So, I’ll ask again, do you want to play our way?”
“Yes.”
“Yes what?”
“Yes, Steve, I do…want to play the demon way.”
Both their heads straightened up as the smiles that had painted their beautiful faces began to fall as they starred at you. It felt like they were looking into your very soul and you couldn’t help but feel a little frightened.
“Alright, little girl. Let’s play.”, Steve growled wickedly as his fingers snapped and your world went dark.
#############
Your eyes snapped open as the breeze from outside hit your face. Rising to your feet, you realize you’re in a forest you’ve never been to.
“Have you ever done roleplay, Y/N?” You jump as Steve’s voice filled your head, quickly turning around to look for them and finding no one. “It’s ok, honey. You can scream and shout here. It’s part of the reason we chose this place.”
“We also kind of like the camp of it all. Demons fucking an innocent girl out in the middle of nowhere.”, Eddie giggles.
“Where are you?”
“Around.” This time they both chuckle as the wind around you picks up.
“I’m not innocent.”
“In life maybe not but sexually, sweetheart… You may as well be a virgin.”
“You of all people know I’m not a virgin.” When you turn around, you are suddenly met with Steve’s palm around your throat.
“We aren’t people, Y/N. Never forget that. Never forget that we are demons. We are above small beings like you. Do you understand me?”
“Yes.”
“Yes. WHAT. You better show us some respect, little girl.”
“Yes…sir…” You gasped for air as he threw you to the ground. He looked down at you with amusement when you sat up and clung to his leg like a scared child. Abruptly, you fall forward and just like that he’s gone.
“Aw, baby. Are you afraid?”
“No!”, you try to sound confident as you rise to your feet.
“You’re right. She’s a terrible liar.”
“What frightens you more, Y/N? The fact that you have no control or the fact that you like it?”
A ringed hand brushes lightly through your hair as lips gently kiss along your neck. When you turn your head to kiss them, you find yourself alone.
“Answer. Me.”
“I don’t know how to let go of that control.”
“We can show you how. We can show you a lot of things, princess, if you’ll let us.”
“Is that the ‘demon way’? I thought creatures like you just take what you want.”
“Creatures. I like that. Good choice of words, little one. It’s never quiet that simple. We can’t just take…it has to be offered.”
“Then…then take me.” The wind around you stops as the woods become silent. “You both deserve to feel good to after what you showed me. I gave you permission to do it your way. I trust you.”
“As you wish. Hey, honey?”
“Run.”
***
You didn’t need to be told twice as you ran in no particular direction. Hell, you didn’t even know where you were, you just needed to go. You imagined wherever you were headed, they were leading you there. You understood that you had just asked two lions to be their prey and the thought drove you wild.
Panting against a tree, you stopped to catch your breath. As you looked at your surroundings, a small rundown house that looked like it had long been abandoned suddenly came into a view. Carefully, you moved towards it, finding the front door open.
“Hello?”
No one responded except for the creaks in the wood as the wind quietly blew. Powerwalking towards the fridge you were grateful to find cold water within it…almost like it was left for you. You chugged down as much as you could until you felt your thirst was quenched, placing it back where you found it before beginning to look around.
There was really nothing of note that stood out. All the picture frames you passed were empty and besides the typical furniture there was no other decoration. As you glanced down the hallway, you noticed a faint light coming from one of the rooms and went to investigate.
There were candles strategically placed everywhere illuminating the bed in front of you. A sudden chill caused you to rub your arms, making you gasp when you realized your clothes you had on abruptly changed. When you looked down, you were no longer wearing jeans and a t-shirt but a red silk nightie with nothing underneath, no bra, panties, or even stockings for your feet. You felt extremely vulnerable but as you started to back out of the room, your back hit something hard.
“Took you long enough.” Eddie’s low, rough tone sent a shudder through your body. “Get lost?”, he asked as he grabbed your hair and pushed you to the floor. “I imagine your legs are probably tired from all that running. Don’t worry, we’re going to let your rest on your knees for a while.”
A naked Steve sauntered into view from the side, his large half hard cock now level with your face.
“Open up, little girl.” Your mouth had barely begun to widen before he shoved himself between your lips. His fingers gripped both sides of you head as he thrust his hips, pushing his length to the back of your throat making you gag. “Fuck, that’s it. Take it, honey. Take my dick like a good girl. Don’t forget about Eddie.”
Steve released you just long enough for the other now naked demon to thread his digits back into your hair as you wrapped your lips around his thick cock. He groaned at the feeling as you flattened your tongue and bobbed your head. “Good, baby. Keep stroking him. Last night was—mmm—was about you. Tonight is for us.”
As you alternated between them with your mouth and your hand, you felt your slick begin to drip down your thighs, your pussy desperately needing to be touched.
“Hey!”, Eddie growled as he yanked your hair back, forcing you to meet his angry eyes. “Did we tell you to move? Huh?! ANSWER ME!”
“No…no, sir. I’m sorry!”
“If no one told you to fucking move then why are grinding your hips like that?!”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” Just like with his friend as soon as the demon let you go, you wrapped your body around his leg, holding him tightly. “I’m sorry.”
His large palm began to pet the top of your head making you feel like you were on the moon. He was accepting your apology; you were being forgiven. You were being good for them and right now that’s all you wanted, you wanted to please them.
Eddie’s arms slide under yours as he lifted you off the floor and carried you to the bed, throwing you on to it horizontally as if you weighed nothing. Tugging you to the edge, he took the base of his cock in his hand and slid it between your glistening folds.
“Fuck me. Are you really that desperate for us right now? Geez, Steven, these fucking humans are always so easy to please. Do you want my dick, Y/N?”
When you only nodded, his lust fueled eyes flicked above you before a hand flew across your cheek.
“Words, little girl. You answer him when he asks your something.” Steve’s massive fingers held your head in place, forcing you to stare at his friend.
“Pl-please. I want—mmm—I want your dick.”
“Yeah? Keep begging, Y/N, because I’m not sure that I believe you.”
“Please! Please, Edward. I want your thick cock inside of me. Make me cum, please.”
The demon’s head tilted at his correct name. Only other demons ever called him that but for many years now even he and Steve referred to him as Eddie. The last time someone else called him Edward was the last time he spoke to Chrissy.
“Something bad is about to happen! I know it!”
“Chris, baby, hey.”, he wrapped his arms around her to stop her from pacing. “Nothing bad is going to happen. I won’t let it.”
“My father is having the ceremony tomorrow. After that, I’m never going to see you.”, she cried into his chest as he held her tighter. “Henry won’t allow us to—”
“Sweetheart, fuck that pretty boy alright? I mean not literally but…” Eddie smiles when he feels her giggle. “Why don’t we leave? Huh? Run away with me.”
“Run where?”
“Anywhere! We can go further out or hell we can hop to other realms. Steven knows all about that.”
She pulls back, gazing up at him with nothing but adoration. “Ok.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. Let’s do it. Meet me here at midnight and we’ll go.”
He grins as he kisses her forehead and runs towards the hidden passage in her room. “I’ll see you tonight. I love you, you freak.”
Chrissy laughs harder as she shoos him with her hand. “I love you to, Edward. Now, go!”
“Hey…” His curls move as his head shakes at the feeling of your thumb caressing his skin. “Are you okay?”
Eddie blinks before grabbing your wrist and shoving it to the mattress. “Why did you call me that? Edward? Why?”
The demon’s abrupt insistence startled you as his face hovered over yours. “I-I-I was being respectful. S-S-Saying your name properly. I’m sorry, Eddie.”
A loud growl mixed with a grunt reverberated through his chest as he guided his cock a bit roughly into your entrance. He didn’t inch his way in this time, fully thrusting into you as your back and neck arched up at the intensity. The demon’s lips whisper into your ear as he began to slowly slam his waist into yours.
“You…you can call me that here, baby. I—f-fuck—I don’t mind. With pussy this good, you’re the only one who can.”
Your eyes rolled back at his words as you clenched around him. Standing again to his full height, Eddie held your legs open wide as he thrust into you. Knees straddled either side of your head as Steve’s cock came into view.
“Open your mouth, honey, and don’t move your head, okay?”
“Yes, sir.”
He grinned down at you before sliding his length between your lips. Your hands flew up to cling to his thighs as he began slowly fucking your face.
“Good—mmm—good girl, Y/N.”, Steve moaned as his palms reached out to play with your tits.
You couldn’t see much from the position they had you in but out of the corner of your watery eyes you could swear you saw Eddie pull Steve’s face to his shoulder as they both grunted at the feel of you. Did you see him place soft kisses along the tattoos splattered along the demon’s chest or was your mind playing tricks on you?
You barely had time to gather any more thoughts as Steve placed his fingers onto your clit, rubbing circles to match his friend’s pace.
Your eyes squeezed shut as you moaned around the demon in your mouth causing a deep growl to escape from his chest that startled you. His head quickly snapped down towards you sensing your fear and he promptly pulled his cock from your lips, pushing his body back so he could kiss you.
“It’s ok. You’re doing so good. That was a good sound, honey. Your mouth just feels so fucking amazing. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you like that.”, he whispered, gently trying to comfort you.
Eddie collapsed onto your body, rolling his hips roughly, tugging down the top half of your garment as he lightly licked and sucked on your nipple with his teeth. Steve leaned down to do the same with your other breast and you whimpered as you tried to keep pumping him with your fist.
“I’m…fuck…”
Eddie’s long tongue licked up your sweaty chest to your ear as his head fell beside yours.
“When you cum, princess, scream my name. Say it—mmm—say it the way you said it before.”
As his hips pounded into yours, you felt your body transport back to that floaty place before you were blinded by that white light and pulled back to earth by what could best be described as a lion’s snarl in your ear as you came.
“Fuck! Yes, Edward! Oh my…fuck, fuck, fuck!”
His rhythm sputtered as his fingers tangled in your hair and he released ropes of his seed inside of you as he grunted loudly. As he continued to lazily thrust into you, you tried to lift his head for a kiss but he hastily grabbed your wrist and held it against the bed.
“No…no, not yet. Give…give me a minute.”
“Are you okay?”, you asked and he nodded in response.
“I don’t …want to scare you. I just…need to calm down.”
“Please, Edward. Let me see you.”
He hesitated for a moment before letting you go and hovering his face above yours. Your fingers reached up to touch the splashes of demon skin that was displaying through his human one along his jawline. Eddie had to control every muscle in his body to keep from flinching. It had been a long while since anyone other than Steve had touched his original skin in anyway let alone as tenderly as you were.
When he had lifted his head, his eyes had remained closed knowing they were his real ones and not the ones he displayed for you.
“Can you open your eyes?”
Almost as if knowing what happen, Steve placed both palms on either side of your head again, holding you in place as the other demon sighed and did as you asked.
You squeaked in terror but they were both holding you down so you couldn’t move away. His red, glowing orbs tried to look anywhere else before the shimmering suddenly stopped and you were able to look directly into his irises.
“Why…why do they glow?”
“Uh, they do that when we’re angry.”
“Are you angry with me?”
His look softened at your question and you watched as the red changed to the brown, chocolate color eyes you had come to know over the past couple of days.
“No, sweetheart. Angry at myself for not being able to hold my appearance up for you.” His nose delicately bumped yours. “Hearing you say my name and then feeling your pussy cling to me like it does… I just couldn’t control myself there.”
Craning your neck, you leaned up to kiss his lips and he allowed it as he smiled against them. “I think it’s Steve’s turn. He’s been waiting very patiently to use you.” His eyebrows coyly raised as your cunt fluttered around him.
Arms slid under you, pulling you away from Eddie, and place you on your tummy as your face hits a pillow above you. Forcefully, the demon lifts your ass in the air, groaning as he breaches your entrance with his hard, leaking cock. Laying his body flat against yours pushes him deeper into your pussy, allowing access to sensitive areas within you that no one besides them could ever hit.
“Do—mmm—can I call you by your name?”, you whimpered as he slowly rolled his hips, bringing his dick almost all the way out before slamming it back in.
“Is that what you want, honey? Do—fuck me—do you think you deserve to?” Steve’s palm wrapped around your throat as he grunted into your ear. “Do you think you’ve earned the right, little one? Hm? Answer me.”
“Yes, yes I do, Steven.”
This must have been what hit Eddie so hard; he felt it as soon as you said his name. Hearing someone use his proper name after so long poked at the beast inside of him. It awakened a side he hadn’t utilized since his time in his own realm and it felt good. He wondered if what his friend had said about that mixed with you climax would really cause him to lose control like that. He had to find out.
Pushing up to his knees, he grabbed your wrists placing them behind your back as he pounded into you.
“When you cum, you scream my name like you did his. Do you hear me?”
“Y-yes. Fuck…please make me cum.”
For a few moments, only both your heavy pants and skin hitting skin were heard in the room but all the sudden, Eddie’s soothing, husky voice cut through. At first you didn’t understand why he was so far away until you realized…he wasn’t speaking to you but to Steve.
“You think she feels good now, wait until she says your name again. I’ve never felt anything like it. I don’t know what it is, Steve, but fucking hell.” Turning your head as much as you could, you noticed how his fingers ran over the demon’s hairy chest as he leaned his chin on his shoulder. “The thought is just making me hard all over again. If I could keep my dick inside her 24/7, I would.”
“St-Steven, I’m about to—”
Yanking on your hair, he pulls your back flush against him. “You say my name with confidence, little girl.” His other arm wrap around your front, holding you tightly to him as he thrust into you faster.
“Yes, Steven. Just like that, please. Don’t stop!”
Gravity left you and again you heard an animal’s rough growl before your face was pushed into the pillow as you came. The demon behind you pumped into you a few more times as red light flashed against the headboard in front of you and his spend warmed your insides.
He grunted, trying to catch his breath as both of them fell on either side of you. As soon as their heads hit the soft material, you blinked and found yourself back in your room at home. You tried to roll over so you could see him but Steve covered your eyes once you got to your back.
“No, no, honey. I think…what you’ve already seen is enough to give you trauma for the rest of your life. Let’s not add to it.”
“Can I touch you? At least since you don’t want me to see you.”
“You promise you’ll keep your eyes closed?”
“Yes, sir. I promise.”
Gradually, his hand left your eyes but you did as he asked, keeping them squeezed tight. Taking a hold of your wrist, he guided you to his face. Like Eddie, his skin was a rough material that was exposing itself mostly on his cheeks but unlike his friend, as you shifted to his hair your fingers ran into the horns protruding from his head. Steve seemed to have a lot more trouble keeping up appearances than the other demon.
After you were done touching him, he assumed you’d recoil away but you didn’t. Instead, your roaming digits traced down to the back of his neck and pulled him into a kiss that had him softly humming. As soon as you disconnected, you two opened your eyes and you were greeted with the amber ones he always displayed for you.
You curled up into your bed, reaching behind you to bring Eddie’s arm over your waist. It startled him at first but he finally settled into it as he nuzzled his face in your hair.
“Do those woods and house have any significance for you guys? Or was it just a random place?”
“The woods are from our realm. Eddie and I used to hang out there when we were growing up.”
“The house is just a house. We didn’t think you’d be comfortable on the dirty forest floor so that particular home is a combination of places we’ve been to.”
“Oh? Is considering my feelings the demon way?”, you grin as your eyes begin to drift.
“It’s our way. Remember, Y/N, we’re still here to serve you. We protect and guide you while you complete your task. Plus…”, Steve exhales as his fingers caress your cheek, eyes scanning you as you sleep. “Demons usually don’t hurt the ones they care about.”
“Ah,” Eddie chuckles softly. “So, you do feel it to? How different this go around feels.”
“She’s not like the others.”
“I know but, Steven, after she kills that last person, we’re gone. We’ll never see her again.”
“I know, Edward.”, he growls. “Let’s worry about that later. I’m sure when this is all over she’s going to end up hating us anyway.”

feelin' mighty fine
rockstar!eddie x actress!reader
inspired by: merry christmas, baby part of carol's christmas song blitz a/n: this is a heavily reworked version of the opening for chrismtas '97 in the rockstar!eddie au. it just wasn't working in the story so i'm making it it's own standalone! you don't have to know much about my rockstar!eddie au to enjoy it -- but just know, you're a famous actress married to rockstar eddie munson and have twins - van and violet, they're about three here. would recommend listening to the song before or during reading to catch the vibe.
cw: 18+, brief smut mention/description, dad!eddie, parenthood, some swearing?, brief alcohol mention. minors dni 4eva. fluff, fluff, fluff.
December 23rd, 1997 - Chicago Stadium
It was the last night of tour before the four of you, exhausted, would travel back to Indiana. It's a short flight, but getting the kids on a jet at midnight didn't sound like the Christmas Eve Eve plans you wanted to make. The twins were fussy backstage, the nanny long sent home earlier that morning since they'd have Wayne and everyone else to help you in Hawkins.
It was half way through the set and the kids should've been sleeping but they wanted to watch from the wings with you, Vi in your arms and Van by your feet -- both safe in headphones made to fit them perfectly to block out the sound. As the song ends and the crowd screams, you can see Eddie running toward you backstage, pulling his guitar from over him with a tech rushing by you to retrieve it. He only has a minute or two while Jeff works the crowd but he never wastes it. His skin shines with sweat, tattoos glimmering over his arms and chest.
"Hey, you havin' fun?" he doesn't wait for an answer, pulling you in from the back of then neck to kiss you. His mouth is cold from the water he's been drinking, he tastes like the faint twang of tequila from the flask in his back pocket. A hint of his mid-show cigarette lingers on his lips.
"Are you having fun, sleepy girl?" he asks Violet, she giggles and hides in the curls that match her dad's, "Shouldn't you be in bed?"
He looks down, seeing Van nearly jumping out of his little leather jacket to have his dad pick him up, "Shouldn't you be in bed, too?"
Eddie scoops him up, smattering his face in kisses -- Van shrieks in laughter so Violet laughs, too. Never one to miss out on kisses, she reaches for her dad desperately before Eddie pops her onto his free hip. He double fists the twins like he used to double fist bottles of Don Julio.
"Honey, you gotta go," you urge, you notice the tech waiting with Ed's other guitar by the wings.
"Okay, okay, sorry -- one more kiss, okay?" he nods to the twins, pressing a kiss to each cheek before placing them back down on the fold out chairs next to you.
"And one more for mommy," he swoons, slinging the new guitar over his shoulder. You roll your eyes and let him smooch you all sloppy, he grins like you just met when he's done. Ed tosses you a wink before rushing out to the stage where he starts to talk into the mic about what's coming up. The tech rushes by you again with Santa hats in his hands -- running onto the stage to pass them out to Eddie, Jeff, Gareth, and the rest of the band.
"Now normally we don't do this shit, we like to keep it a lil' scary here -- but it is Christmas time so, I wanted to play a little somethin' special. Y'all know Otis Redding?" Eddie asks. You beam, you know exactly what he's about to get the band to play. The crowd screams, barricades straining against them while they bounce and jump.
"I wanted to introduce some fellas on brass who are comin' to join us for this number," Eddie puts his hand back to reference a small brass band stepping onto the platform next to Gareth's drum set, "Give 'em a 'round of applause for me."
The applause is rauccus and the brass players wave sheepishly from their platform. You guess it's not often that they're playing with a band that used to be in the news for 'promoting Satan's music'. Especially not with someone with a reputation as sordid as Eddie's.
As the horns begin to play, Eddie puts on his Santa hat and gets close to the mic, "This song's called 'Merry Christmas, Baby', I'm sure most of ya know it. But it was my mama's favorite -- she used to wear that record out so much that my daddy had to buy it for her twice. So this is for my mama, and all the mama's that are out there tonight."
He winks towards the camera that fed out to the screens for the back seats, sending the women in the crowd to their knees. Their screeches nearly drowned out the opening chords.
Eddie's voice has a gruffness that meets the songs needs, Jeff's joining his in a playful duet. As the intro finishes, they both trade their shrill riffs for a funky bass lines and twangs to match the energy from the brass.
"Well I'm feelin' mighty fine y'all, got my music on the raay-di-oooo..." Eddie sings with a smile, his eyes closed against the bright lights. There's a lightness about him that his fans rarely see, something soft, something you get to see at home. Like when the babies would fall asleep on his chest.
"Feel like I wanna kiss ya, babe, standin' underneath that mistletoe..." he drawls, and you can see his head turn to try and peer at you behind the curtain. A silent dedication. He'd kiss you all the time if he could.
The crowd claps in time with the beat. You can see the gleams of painted nails and rings, silver bracelets, and leather arm cuffs glinting in the light of the first three rows. There was an air of genuine surprise that the crowd was singing the lyrics with them, but the holidays infect everyone. Even 'god damn delinquents', as put so delicately by the venues owner.
"Sure did treat me nice, said you bought me all those presents, and I feel like I'm in paradise..."
And overwhelming wave of nostalgia hits you as they reach the music breakdown, remembering what it was like before the kids were born. How things felt before you got married. You'd wait in his dressing room, watching the feedback on the TV in the corner, eating the snacks and drinking the champagne he'd get for you on his rider. He'd come back at the end of the show, dripping in sweat, vibrating from all the coke, chugging a bottle of Jack Daniels.
The grizziliness of him was so fucking hot at the time he didn't even have to ask you to bend over the couch. He'd rail into you so hard you could barely breathe, hand entwined in your hair, dampening your shirt when he pressed you against his slick chest.
"Been thinkin' about you all night. This tight fucking pussy," he'd grunt, whiskey might as well have been seeping out of his pores. But he was so different now. So straightened up. So present.
He was clean long before the twins were born, but something changed in him when they came. He was so alive again. Just so fucking happy to be there.
"Please give another round of applause for our brass band over here!" Eddie's announcement sends you right back to reality. The crowds cheers scream through the venue again and you instinctively cover your ears. You watch the brass band wave and bow, stepping down off the platform off the stage while the rest of the band hypes them up.
"That was fun, wasn't it folks?" Eddie asks, "So I guess we'll get back to--"
You're confused at the sudden shrill of shrieks from the crowd.
"Oh, you guys know Van? He's our new guitarist -- this is actually Jeff's last show," you hear Eddie's laugh boom over the speakers. You look down to the horror of only seeing one child next to you, who is now off her chair and inching towards the stage.
"You wanna play a chord, buddy?" you hear Jeff's voice say, the crowd cheers again. You look up at one of the screens, Van perched in his uncle Jeff's arms while he leans down to strum the strings. The crowd whoops and giggles while Jeff puts his hand over Van's tiny one and helps him play a real chord. Eddie claps, eyes shining with pride, the crowd goes absolutely insane- Van! Van! Van! Van! Your son hides, embarrassed at the attention -- always one to be shy, burying himself in the crook of Jeff's neck.
"Violet baby, come here," you coo over to her, taking a step. But that step makes her book it -- and god are they fast at 3, "Shit, fuck."
"Oh-ho-ho, wow, my little lady of the hour," Eddie laughs while she runs right into his legs, knocking herself to the ground softly, "You've all met Violet, right?"
You watch him pick her up, her soft and excited, "Daddy -- Santa!" echos through the stadium.
"Hi, baby! That's right, daddy looks like Santa!" he parentese's excitedly, placing her on his hip. He looks over his shoulder to see you crouched down, tip toe-ing quickly across the stage mouthing a guilt 'sorry' his way. He grins expectantly, his perfect show girl in her stretch pants and sweatshirt. Her clean white sneakers. "There she is -- I'm sure you folks know the wife."
You wince at first and then wave while the crowd thunders at the sight of you hurrying over to Jeff to scoop up Van. Your eyes squint against the lights, the only thing you can see in the crowd are the little flames from lighters being waved by fans. The venue shakes at their applause and you're almost embarrassed by the attention -- but not too much. What's this but another red carpet? The only difference is that you never go on stage -- the last time being just after you got married so Eddie could gush about his 'for real this time' wife.
"Mama," Van whined, hands outstretched and grabby over Jeff's shoulder while he climbs into your chest. You hoist him up to make room for Violet who at first, doesn't want to go, making Ed so close to cancelling the rest of the show to cuddle her before you're finally able to wrench her out of his arms. Their heads bobble with their headphones on, snuggling up against you.
You turn to leave, but he taps you on the shoulder, still speaking into the mic, "You forgetting something?"
You look at him confused, you have both babies with you, "What?"
"You gotta pay the toll, baby," he shrugs, his smug grin making you blush. The crowd roars, they love when he's a little bit of a bastard. He looks you over, tongue running over the inside of his cheek, "Can't let you go without paying the toll."
You let out an audible sigh, facial expression playing to the cheap seats so everyone knows just how fake exasperated you are with him. You lean in and his kiss is lewd and wet over the twin's heads, the clicks of spit sounding over the speakers. He scrunches his nose at you when he breaks away, a boyish blush blooms on his cheeks.
"Thank you," he smiles, "You're free to go."
"Okay babies, you gotta wave bye to daddy's friends!" you say softly to Van and Vi as they look at the crowd.
"Say bye-bye," Eddie says gently, mimicking a wave so they'll copy. They wave over your shoulder while you walk back stage, sitting down on the fold up chairs with them both on your lap.
"Alright folks, sorry for the cutest interruption you'll ever see in your life," he says to the crowd, "And I know outside of friends and family, Christmas is about y'know -- the Lord. So in honor of the birth of Christ I'd like to introduce this next song..."
Two incredibly face melting riffs play simultaneously.
"We call it, 'Your Mother Sucks Cocks in Hell'."
You roll your eyes as the music starts, but on the bright side the twins are finally starting to nod off to sleep.

parts: [part 2]
Warning: mentions of domestic violence/ abuse and some violence (towards reader) so be cautious! don't read if that's triggering
Summary: your relationship with carol starts to bloom after defending her from ed
WC: 2.6k
--
The soft conversations of the other women filled the atmosphere as you all did your work. You were sitting a few feet away from them, getting in your own head. Washing the clothes was the last thing you had wanted to do, especially for Shane. You were annoyed to be there, you had tried telling Shane you wanted to do something more than basic chores. But he was never for it, which made you angry. Ultimately, you just did what he told you, not wanting to create useless and unwanted tension.
Tuning everyone out, you just focused on the pair of jeans you were washing, doing your best to at least try and make it look like you care. Getting lost in the rhythm, you were completely unaware of the group trying to get your attention. A soft nudge to your arm broke you out of your head and you looked up to see Jacqui, seemingly wanting to include you in the group. Which you did end up accepting.
“I do miss my Maytag,” Carol had started while looking down at her work. You had missed what Andrea and Jacqui had said, tuning back in when Amy spoke up. “I miss my computer, I miss texting,” The small amount of silence had prompted you to speak up, “I miss scalding hot showers, like the type that makes you lightheaded.” You had noticed a grin on Carol's face as she nodded along to what you’d said, making you smile to yourself.
Andrea set the shirt she was washing on her lap and sighed, “I miss my vibrator.” The group was silent beside Andrea and Jacqui laughing. You had noticed Carol looking around, looking back toward Ed and back at Andrea. “Me too,” Carol said, which triggered everyone to erupt into laughter. All the laughs and smiles made this stupid chore so much more enjoyable, but all up until Ed started walking over to the group.
It was no secret that Ed was hated throughout the group, it surprised you they kept him around. You all knew what was going on between him and Carol, and their little girl Sophia. Nothing needed to be said, you had just picked up on it. All the traits were there. The bruises, Carol’s unease around Ed, doing everything he told her to do at the drop of a hat. All signs of abuse. And everyone else knew too, but nothing has been said or even done. Which fueled your anger.
As Ed made his way over to your small group, you gripped the pants in your hands with all your force. Knuckles turning white, trying not to lose your cool just yet. The look on his face told you enough about his intentions.
“What's so funny?” Ed says, putting his cigarette back in his mouth to take a drag. You noticed Carol's face immediately dropped when she heard his voice, that broke your heart. He loomed over all of you like he was a chaperone, like you needed to be watched. God you could’ve just beat his face in right there.
“Problem Ed?” Andrea speaks up, trying to make it seem like she was joking around. But Ed was completely serious, “Nothing that concerns you.” Looking down you sighed heavily, and the prick opened his mouth again. “Focus on your work, ain’t no comedy club,” once he said that he still just stayed there, watching. Making all of you tense, you’d decided enough was enough.
Throwing the clothing you were washing in the bucket, you stood up and looked at Ed. “We don’t need supervision to work. Leave, or if you want this done better. Do it yourself.” Moving your hand up, you flicked water in his face. Just trying to get him to leave. But in return all he did was stare daggers into you, but you weren’t going to let him bother you. “Ain’t my job missy,” you bit the inside of your cheek and looked off at Carol. She still had her head in her work.
“What is your job? Sitting around smoking cigarettes?” His jaw clenched as those words left your mouth. He was like a timebomb that was going to explode any minute, now that scared you. Scared you for Carol and Sophia.
“It sure as hell ain’t listening to a smart mouthed bitch.” He harshly looked down to Carol, “C’mon. Let's go.” Right as Carol went to stand you stood in front of her, placing your arms in front of her. The other women soon jumped to defend Carol, you’d turned around and faced Ed again. Your back is facing Carol, holding yourself up in front of her like a shield. He was closer to your face now, but you weren’t going to let yourself get scared of him.
“She’s not going anywhere with you, you’ll have to get through me before that happens.” He just scoffed while tilting his head to look at Carol. Also putting his hand out in a ‘come here’ motion to her. “You heard me, Come on now.” Carol kept walking toward him and you put your hand out to stop her, “No, stay,” but she just kept walking.
With tearfilled eyes, she weakly said it “didn’t matter,” but that was bullshit. And you knew it was. The fight was slowly escalating, you had to admit you had started to feel more and more nervous for Carol. Your thoughts were racing, you couldn’t even think straight about what was even going on.
Ed saying, “You’ll regret it later” pulled you back down. Making you see red. He gripped Carol by the arm and you sprung to action, trying to get in between them. You had managed to do it successfully, but not without a stinging pain in your face.
You had guessed Ed was trying to go for Carol, but you had gotten in the way. Making it so you took the slap instead of her. But without thinking, you instantly threw your fist up in his face. He stumbled backwards and was going to hit you again, but Shane had pulled him away. Ultimately getting himself fucked up by Shane.
The scene playing out in front of you broke you in a million different ways. Amy was holding Carol back as the scene played out right in front of her. She was inconsolable, a sobbing mess, trying to fight her way out of Amy’s arms. You could tell she wanted to help Ed, help the man who’s been hurting her all this time. You couldn’t even focus on your own messy state as you were trying to calm down Carol, but the mark on your face stressed her more.
Eventually Shane backed off, but not before threatening to kill Ed if he ever touched Carol or Sophia again. As much as you didn’t like Shane, you had to side with him on this one. You wanted to kill that fucker. As soon as Shane walked off, Amy had let go of Carol and she ran to Ed’s side. Instantly apologizing for causing this mess, but with more thinking it was ultimately your fault this happened. You fed the fire, and now you felt guilty.
Tears threatened to fall and you soon grabbed the clothes you needed to hang out to dry and got out of there. The pain in your face started to set in, the slight stinging feeling causing massive discomfort. You would kill for a bag of peas to put on your face right now, which was a silly thought to have, but you needed the comfort. You had hung out all the clothes and promptly returned to your tent, choosing to seclude yourself for the rest of the night.
No one had really gone to check on you, which you figured. Today was a mess, and you were thankful that no one tried to tell you that what you did was okay. You knew it wasn’t. Carol's situation probably got so much worse, and it was all your fault. You’d just laid there, back toward the entrance of your tent, you didn’t even see the figure walking towards it.
Slight rustles of your tent caused you to turn around, all you could see was the dark silhouette of the person outside. It didn’t look like Ed, but you figured he wasn't going to be around the group for a while. “Come in,” you moved so your back remained to the entrance. You were trying to hide the massive mark on your face, but it was hard to do so when it was so obviously there.
“(Y/N), please look at me,” It was Carol, your stomach dropped. It wasn’t like you didn’t want to see her but it was just scary for you to think about what Ed has been doing since the fight. Her voice sounded broken, like she had been crying nonstop. Slowly sitting up, you turned around and your eyes met Carols. They were glossy, and soon went wide eyed when she saw the state your face was in.
The right side of your face was slightly swollen, it wasn’t horribly bruised yet. It was just red, and slightly purple in some places, proving that it will bruise soon. It looked like it hurt, and it sure as hell did. You didn’t want to show that though, all you wanted to do was tough it out. Just be strong for the ones that couldn’t be.
Out of the corner of your eye you noticed Carol’s hand move slowly. Feeling her fingers gently on your face, she was trying to gauge the pain you were in. When you flinched back slightly, the tears on her face came down quicker. Both of you felt massive guilt, it was obvious to you.
“I’m sorry,” Carol said so quietly. Her voice was trembling.
“Don’t apologize, it's not your fault.” She could barely look at you, her sobs preventing her from even sitting up straight. You had no clue what to do, but you knew she needed to let those emotions out. Just letting her cry.
You both were stuck like that for a while. She brought her hands up to her eyes and wiped her tears. Sniffling and still looking down, you knew she felt ashamed and blamed herself. Like she should’ve done better. But you could never blame her for anything Ed did. But the thoughts kept eating her up, it was obvious. She was physically shaking, probably from being horribly overwhelmed with emotions.
Carol wiped her eyes again and mumbled a quick ‘sorry’ and turned to leave, but you softly grabbed her wrist. “If he bothers you tonight, or you just don’t feel safe, come here. You and Sophia.” She gives you a tearful nod as she silently walks out. Your gut and your heart were telling you to run after her and tell her to just stay with you permanently, just leave him, but you knew that was a bad idea. Knowing how Ed was, it was dangerous for them to do that. It didn’t stop you from debating it though.
Soon enough night fell over the camp, the only sounds that could be heard was the fire crackling on and a few mumbled conversations. You had dimmed the lantern you had to see if you could get tired, but to no avail. The thoughts in your mind kept racing. You were secretly trying to listen into the Peletier tent to see if you could hear anything happening, but luckily you were just overthinking.
Finally after a while you had managed to find some sleep, thankful that you could turn your brain off. You didn’t know how much time had passed since you’d fallen asleep but you were soon woken up to the noise of a zipper. After just waking up your brain didn’t register what was going on until you saw Carol and Sophia quietly make their way into your tent.
Looking them over, they seemed to be okay, no injuries. Letting out a sigh of relief you rub your eyes and look at Carol. Still a little shaken, but also looking better than before. Looking over at Sophia she looked about as normal as you can be in this situation. Though you were very sure she was just relieved to not be in a tent with her dad.
“Sorry for waking you, just really didn’t want to be in there with Ed. He’s finally asleep,” You nodded and gave her a soft smile. “It’s okay, I said you could come, and I meant that,” Carol gave you a smile back and Sophia cuddled into her side. Sophia had looked tired and you felt for her, a lot of her nights were probably restless.
Both of them looked restless, “Both of you should sleep, it would do you some good.” Carol nodded and Sophia was already almost half asleep. You moved over and padded the spot you were laying down at first. Carol quickly shook her head, “No, I can’t take your bed.” You shook your head back, “I insist, you need it more than me anyways. Besides, I already slept.” She sighed in response, but didn’t argue. She made her and Sophia comfortable and you smiled as they both drifted off, finally looking peaceful.
Morning came quickly. You had heard rustling behind you and when you turned around Sophia was the first one up. With her doll in hand she sat up and waved to you. You waved back with a smile on your face, you moved your head and gestured for her to come sit with you. She had a hesitant look at first, but she soon silently made her way over to you. Sophia made her place to the right of you, both of your backs facing a sleeping Carol. You’d spend the morning with her showing her a bunch of little trinkets you had collected. During and even before the end of the world.
To some it felt pointless to grab “useless junk” but seeing Sophia's smile when you showed her all the different things you’ve managed to collect made it so worth it.
Picking up a pink stone, you held it up to show Sophia. “This is pink opal, bought it before everything went wrong.” You gently grabbed her hand and placed the stone in it, letting her get a closer look. “It's supposed to heal you, in an emotional context of course,” you giggled as she was almost hypnotized by the stone in her hand. “Does it work?” All you could do was shrug, “If you believe it yeah, but it's just a nice thought to have that they help,” it was her turn to giggle and she went to hand the stone back to you but you declined. “Keep it, you seem to really like it,” her eyes lit up as she put it in her little jean pocket, making sure it was secure. She mumbled a quiet “thank you” and she looked more at the pile of colorful stones you had.
Hearing movement, you look back behind you to see Carol awake and starting to get ready to leave the tent. “Good morning,” you whispered quietly, not wanting to disturb the peaceful moment you all had. She smiled and quickly made her way over to you to give you a hug. She was pressed up against your back with her arms around your neck, it was comforting and also loving in a way.
“Thank you for everything, it means the world,” she said quietly in your ear. You patted her arm that was around your neck and hummed in response. She pulled away and made her way to the entrance, she was about to get Sophia, but she quickly spoke up. “Can I spend more time here? (Y/N) has really cool stuff!” you shrugged and laughed a bit, Carol’s face cracked into a smile. She nodded a quick yes and left to get the day started.

Thoughts on TBOC Trailer
I'm issuing another trigger warning (for mention of abuse) and another gentle reminder that if you're happy with the trailer, then I’m genuinely happy for you. This post will not resonate with you though, so I encourage you to keep scrolling or to just block me. I really won't be offended. If you aren't happy with the trailer or you're still processing the trailer, well, let's talk about it...
There are three major issues for me. The first is the way it positions the story as Daryl's despite all the promises offscreen that it would be Carol's story this season. He gets the first appearance, the name drop, and the spotlight in 90% of the shots while Carol's side of things is like an undercurrent. I love Daryl. I love that he has his own spinoff to explore his character more deeply, but this is supposed to be Carol's spinoff equally. She may not have been marketed as much as Daryl has been over the years, but her popularity and Melissa's critical acclaim have more than earned the same amount of narrative space that Daryl has. Her being sidelined in S11 and then removed entirely from the Caryl spinoff upset an entire fanbase.
Finding out about Carol's/Melissa's return on the other hand offset that pain and started generating (organic) buzz for the show, so it baffles me that AMC wouldn't keep following that path to maximize viewership. If TBOC really is Carol's story, and I'm not saying she won't end up having the most screentime, why wouldn't they want to sell that to the Carol/Caryl fans who left, the Carol/Caryl fans who feel uncertain about the storytelling (hi 👋) and the GA who love Carol, but may not realize she's back because all the media coverage keeps leaving out "TBOC" and using Daryl as the thumbnail? When you have something amazing, like Melissa's acting and Carol's story development and Caryl's chemistry, then it only makes sense to show it off. But instead, the positioning triggered my fear of Carol being sidelined again, of her being treated as insignificant to Daryl's story and the story overall. Whether that's valid or irrational, it's still not the visceral reaction I want to have when I thought I was being treated to the epic return of the character who taught me everything I know about resilience and strength.
My second issue is the heavy-handed positioning of Daryl, Isabelle, and Laurent as a nuclear family, not just when Daryl tells Laurent that he and Isabelle want to take him to America, but the classic American image right after that of the three of them playing baseball together. Whether it's a misdirect or not—I'm having a hard time figuring out which to be honest because I know Zabel and Nicotero are more than capable of taking it in a direction that might seem wildly absurd from our POV—I'm very uncomfortable with any representation of Daryl in a manipulative relationship/friendship/nun-ship, especially if the manipulation isn't going to be addressed. And I don't expect it to be addressed going off of what Zabel and Norman have been saying about Daryl needing to open up his heart to his new family.
I have to refrain from giving out any personal details about myself on my blog, but I'll share this because I think it provides important context for my position on Daryl and Isabelle (trigger warning). I was terrified of my dad when I was a kid. He wasn't a monster like Ed or Daryl's dad, but when he was angry—and he was angry a lot—he was mean and loud and destructive. That was my frame of reference for how men naturally behave, for almost all of my adolescent life. When I started watching TWD, I recognized some of my dad's worst qualities in Daryl at first, but then Daryl grew in ways my dad never could. He overcame his predisposition as an angry redneck because he "opened up his heart" to Carol and saved all of the violence/aggression for killing zombies and fighting villains (usually). When Isabelle accused him of being like his dad to get him to stay in France (106), it cut deep because Daryl isn't anything like his dad. He's not an abuser. He's not selfish. He doesn't abandon anyone or intentionally hurt the people he cares about. He's the male role model I never had. A man of honor who deserves to be loved by someone who sees that without a doubt. Carol sees that. She was the first person to help him nurture that, whereas Isabelle keeps him in the cycle of abuse by gaslighting him into becoming a father figure to a kid he barely knows. So unless the EPs are telling a clear story about that, which they aren't, they're just glorifying toxic/abusive relationships.
Caryl is the relationship that fans have invested in for more than a decade. It's one of the most iconic relationships on television for a reason. They represent hope for their fans, some having endured hardships in their own lives similar to Daryl's and Carol's. Their fans seek comfort in a love story between two damaged, middle-aged people who thought they couldn't heal from their trauma and thought they weren’t worthy of love. Their fans have every right to expect Caryl-centric storytelling in a show that's being marketed as a Caryl show (see AMC's hashtags), especially considering they've had to wait more than two years after some assholes underestimated Melissa's value to the franchise.
I personally went into SDCC wanting to know what I could look forward to for Caryl's shared arc in addition to their individual arcs. I think a lot of people did judging by all the questions they dropped on AMC's/TWD's social media accounts leading up to the con. Side note: All of those questions were ignored in favor of questions geared toward TWD fanboys. We only got the tease at the very end of the trailer, and that tease doesn't tell us anything new. Only that, once again, it's Daryl's story and Carol is in the periphery. We already know Caryl are going to reunite. We've known for over a year and even for those who don't track filming updates, it's not a difficult conclusion to come to. The trailer can't spoil how and when and what happens after, but it can show us how Daryl and Carol remain spiritually tethered despite being physically separated. It didn't do that. It played on anxieties instead of desires, which is both tiresome and unethical.
My last issue, which we've been talking about for a while now, is the excessive friendship positioning. Yes, Daryl's and Carol's bond is rooted in a deep friendship. No, it doesn't mean they can't also be romantic. But when that word shows up in every tweet, every synopsis, and every interview, it's not only deliberate, it's targeting a specific viewership and judging by Melissa's mandated (yeah, mandated) use of it as well, I think it's less about telling Caryl fans to set their expectations (AMC thinks we're already guaranteed viewers), and more about trying to appeal to dudebros/fanboys, which is ridiculous because those fans aren't going to invest long-term anyway, not without a catalyst for more Rick stories and action-adventure stories that aren’t in Zabel's wheelhouse. It's just going to make a portion of the fanbase who will invest long-term less hopeful for what they want, plus erase the romantic potential for the GA to see. It's obviously not wrong for AMC to try to maximize their viewership. It is wrong to invalidate the profitable viewership that they have in the process. I have no idea if the show intends to surprise Caryl fans with canon by the end of the season or if certain EPs will get their way, but I do know I can't make any sense of a platonic friendship for Caryl. Insisting on that would be a huge retcon for me. A dealbreaker, as I’ve always said.
AMC started off on the right track with the very first teaser we got, showcasing the significance of Caryl's relationship in the tagline, "To find home is to find each other.” The SDCC trailer feels like we've taken three giant steps backward. I came out of it feeling like the story Zabel, Nicotero, and some faction of AMC want to tell isn't for me, that my favorite characters aren't for me unless I'm willing to forfeit my understanding of them to make the fanboys and certain EPs feel justified in their biases. It doesn’t feel good.
That’s all of my SDCC coverage for now. I appreciate everyone for giving me the space to voice my honest opinions. It might be a buzzkill, but it’s the only way for AMC to properly assess what’s working and what’s not working for their audience 🤷🏻♀️

Twd Daryl Dixon- A world of of our own series Chapter 2: Welcome to Alexandria
You start to stir in the back of the truck when you hear the sounds of someone shouting in the distance “Open the gates!!” You’re jostled around a bit steadying yourself on a stack of crates when all of a sudden everything seems to have calmed down telling you that you’re here. The doors swing open and you see a young Asian man who looks more then confused at your presence in the back “uh.. Rick?! There’s a stowaway in the back man!” Rick appears laughing slapping the man on the back “she’s no stowaway Glenn she saved our asses out there & took us to find all these supplies that were her grandparents save to say she’s fine & going to stay here with us” at first he looks confused but then breaks out into a smile & sticks his hand out to you to shake “hi I’m Glenn it’s nice to me you” you reciprocate taking his hand to shake “hi Glenn the name is Jamie but my friends call me scout” “scout?” He raises an eyebrow to you “yup because I’m observant clairvoyant & was top of our co-ed troop & an Eagle Scout” his eyes go wide “they let girls do that?” You laugh “well they let me Girl Scouts was boring who the hell gives a shit about cookies I wanted to hunt be in the dirt and go camping” you both laughed as Rick & Carl help you out of the back and a group of others walk forward three women one carrying a small child on her hip the woman with short hair speaks first “hi I’m Maggie Daryl’s filled us in on what happened out there thank you” you shake their hands and exchange names meeting Maggie carol Michonne & little Judith she’s the most adorable baby you’ve ever seen. You help them unload showing them each crate so they know what place to take each set of supplies & see Daryl off across the way tinkering with a bike if only he knew you used to ride all the time you missed your Harley more than anything not that he’d probably care anyway you see carol approach with a wide smile “you can stay with me there’s plenty of space have your own bathroom and everything” you hug her trying not to get too emotional holding it all in “thank you” you whisper to her she pulls back rubbing your shoulders “everything is going to be alright now I assure you you’re safe here sweetie” you follow her to the porch heading inside what now you assume is home as she takes you upstairs to show you you’re room “the bathroom is just next door i have the master bathroom in my room so it’s all yours and Daryl has a bathroom downstairs he uses so he’d never use this one” your eyes widen at the mention of his name but you quickly try and shake it off but not before she notices & grins at you “I didn’t know he lived here too” you mumble “you like him don’t you” you scoff “no…” she giggles “sure” she drops it for now and gives you fresh towels and linens and lets you know she’ll be back with clothes that should fit letting her know all you had that wasn’t torn apart was what you’re wearing and some under garments. “Found a few things that should fit nicely & here’s some toiletries im sure you want to take a shower oh and yes we have hot water and electricity” you beam at the thought of a real shower “thank you really for everything” she shrugs “it’s what we do” you nod repeating “it’s what we do”. You head into the bathroom peeling off your clothes & putting them in the wicker basket on the floor turning on the water and indeed see that it’s hot you turn to the mirror seeing yourself with no barrier protecting the years of trauma your father inflicted upon you little reminders of the nightmare once lived. The scars from the horse whip he’d hit you with or the multiple cigar burns & the largest scar being over your left shoulder he once tried to take your life that was the last straw for your grandparents they knew he was angry but had no idea to what extent. He’d come home after one of his w reckless nights of drinking again blaming you for your mother no longer being here smashing everything in the house and hit you in the head with a rotary phone knocking you out cold to which he took his Jack Daniels and poured it on your back and threw a lit match at you.
You woke up days later in a hospital bed with your grandparents sitting at your side. They told you that a neighbor had heard the commotion and couldn’t take his yelling any longer so they called the police and they came in to him trying to overdose on pain pills and you on the floor back half burnt covered with a sheet thank god for his drunken state he assumed you dead after putting you out with a pitcher of tea that was nearby and just threw something overtop you. Your left shoulder area now a reminder of that day but also a reminder of who really gave a shit and who didn’t and that you’re still here still fighting & hope he’s miserable if he’s by chance still breathing. You hop into the water taking in the amazing feeling of the warmth welcoming over every part of you. The dark colors that run off you telling you just how much you’ve been through to get to this point. Browns and rust reds of mud and blood taking the shampoo & putting a good amount into your hand as you start messaging your scalp it smells of lavender and honeysuckle & it makes you smile the bar soap homemade smelling of pine and sandalwood making your tense muscles relax next conditioner how you wanted to sob just at that & toothpaste the conditioner felt like silk between your fingers you have really long hair so being able to actually brush it sounds like something out of a dream letting it sit in your tangles as you reach out of the shower to grab your toothbrush and toothpaste scrubbing everything you possibly could in your mouth three times just for good measure before rinsing yourself entirely. Turning off the water you sling the curtain to the side to the now misty filled bathroom running an arm across the mirror taking in your now clean state seeing the bags that sit under your eyes from many nights missed rest. You grab your brush getting rid of all the knots in what was once a matted mess now long locks the rest well past your bottom. Wrapping yourself in a towel you toe your way into the hall heading to your door as you bump into a dark frame gasping looking up to see Daryl looking as shocked as you are “sorry” you both say at the same time only then does it sink in that your scars are very much exposed at the tip sending you into a tailspin “uh yeah let me…” & to bolt into the room slamming the door shut pressing your back up against the door sliding down hands over your face in embarrassment trying to catch your breath and hope he didn’t notice them. Calming down you pull yourself together enough to get dressed the clothes smelling of baby powder almost the smell keeping your nerves calm you re brush your hair & think that maybe for once you don’t have to tie it up and decide to let Mother Nature dry it and want to head outside for some air you go downstairs heading out onto the porch running your fingers through your hair as you take in the site of the community at work many people doing different jobs to keep things running smoothly you wonder what kind of job they’d give you. You’d take anything that would keep your mind busy. You see Carl pushing Judith & go to say hello. He almost barely recognizes you “Scout?.. wow you clean up nice” you laugh “why thank you kind sir” you crouch down to Judith’s level “hi there pretty girl look at them curls I’m jealous you’re so adorable” she giggles grabbing at your hair tugging on it “hey now I finally got the knots out of this monster don’t go scalping me kiddo be nice and I’ll show you how to grow yours this long with curls like those everyone will be so envious I promise you” Carl laughs “you’re hair is really long how long did it take for it to grow that long?” “Well I haven’t cut it since 1999 except if you count trimming the dead ends” he laughs louder “that’s a hell of a long time” you’re all giggling away & off into the distance carol and Daryl are on the porch smoking a cigarette he’s playing with his bow & she’s on the swing watching him stealing glances at you making her giggle to herself. He didn’t catch it the first couple times but eventually does looking at her with pinched brows
“The hell so funny woman?” Shaking her head no stubbing out the butt “oh nothing just mark my words you two are gonna be a thing before you know it” standing to go inside she pokes at his chest laughing “yeah right I think you lost it” making her cackle “you keep telling yourself that & you’ll never meet anyone that way with that attitude” “like I said yer losin it woman now shoo!” “Always so damn stubborn” as she disappears inside. Daryl stealing another glance as you walk with Carl around the community and he shows you around & introduces you to everyone. He thinks carol really has lost it who in their right mind would want a dirty old redneck he shakes his head dismissing everything she said & continues to work on his bow. You on the other hand walk with Carl to his house to see his dad. You see all that goes into running this place and want to pull your own weight. He takes you inside where Rick and Michonne sit at the kitchen table drinking coffee “hey scout have a seat would you like a cup of coffee?” Smiling “that sounds lovely thank you” he gets up grabbing a mug and the pot pouring you some “thank you Rick really” he nods “so what’s up everything okay you’re settling in alright?” “Yeah it’s amazing thank you this place feels like a weird dream or something I really hope I’m not going crazy and it is” you laugh with them “but I’m here because I see everyone around here busy doing something and I just want to see if I can be of any use for whatever it is y’all need help with?” “Well speaking of that we were just actually discussing that you be one of our runners going out scavenging or hunting when needed beings your experience and you seem to fight really well if you don’t mind helping us train people who aren’t so good at defending themselves” “that sounds great I can do that but I’m also good at a lot of other things too I grew all our produce for the restaurant I cooked & I minored in nursing so if anyone’s ever in a pinch don’t be afraid to ask I don’t sleep much and always loved to keep busy” they both smile at each other and then you Michonne speaks first “sounds good looks like we got another good female fighter welcome to Alexandria scout” “thank you for having me” you smile taking a sip of your coffee. You had dinner with them that night talking over details for a mission to get things needed for the infirmary they were running low on antibiotics and insulin and we’re going to have to find some and soon. You all had a wonderful evening laughing and telling jokes swapping stories of what life was like before all this only sharing the happy stuff these people don’t want to hear you trauma dumping on them. You bid goodnight heading back home to see Daryl smoking on the porch trying to not seem like you’re looking at him before you step up onto it walking to the other end to light one of your own as your heart hammers against your chest. He hops off the railing and starts to walk towards you “ya alrigh’?” You sigh “yeah I’m okay” he nods “settlin in okay?” “Mhm” you take a drag of your cigarette staring off into the crop field the silence is almost suffocating the both of you so he decides to try and break it “about the other night” you shake your head cutting him off blowing out smoke “no no no…. don’t worry about it really… I’m an idiot you don’t even really know me like that yet and we both know I ain’t nothing to look at yet anything someone wants to look at when they first wake up in the mornin I get it let’s just… not talk about it okay I embarrassed myself enough” you flick your cigarette pushing past him to get inside before your words fully sink in and he catches what you just said before he could stop you. Did you really think that’s what he thought when you asked him to lay with you sharing the same bed why would he think you were nothing to look at he couldn’t stop looking at you he thinks you’re absolutely gorgeous but doesn’t have the balls to stay it to your face he’s not good with sharing feelings little does he know you’re the same forever bottling them up.
Because growing up feelings equaled weakness & that’s not something you’d want people to compare you to. Hiding in the glow of the lamp in your room sitting on the bed with your head in your hands. “Why am I such an idiot?” You mumble out of embarrassment “I’m a sideshow attraction who the hell would even look twice my way damn moron is what I am” as you kick your boots off & slink under the covers outside the door was carol who had heard you run into your room she was coming to check on you but heard you talking to yourself & decided on letting you be at the moment. But she’s definitely going to have a talk with you when the time is right. Daryl currently on his 4th cigarette trying to wrap his head around what the hell even just happened. Surely you said those things just to save himself from hearing what you really think of him. He thinks you’re deflecting not wanting to admit you felt bad for him instead insulting yourself or is that what you really think of yourself if it is you’re crazy to think so. Daryl’s brain is doing somersaults & you’re the only woman to get him so wound up. Flicking his butt to his cigarette he grabs his crossbow & head’s inside to call it a night hopefully he’s able to sleep & not toss & turn at the thought of what’s really going on in your head.

Can't you just see Carol taking in all the kids and giving them a home full of love and laughter while longing for one Mr. Daryl Dixon? Because I can. ;)
Merry and Bright *6* (a Walking Dead ficlet, Caryl AU).
Title: Merry and Bright *6*
Rating: T, if that.
Warnings: Christmas marshmallow fluff. Mild language.
Characters/Pairings: Carol Peletier/Daryl Dixon, brief mention of Carol Peletier/Ed Peletier, Sophia Peletier, Lizzie Samuels, Mika Samuels, Sam Anderson, Carl Grimes, more.
Merry and Bright *6*
Carol offers him a mug of steaming hot cocoa and a sparkling smile, and he accepts both, tucks his chin in close to his chest and studies his worn boots while he wills himself not to blush like one of them teenagers camped out in her festive den. It doesn’t work. Of course, it doesn’t. He ain’t that lucky. Never has been.
Leaning against the doorframe, she lifts her own mug to her nose and breathes deep. “So,” she begins.
“So,” he echoes gruffly. He feels awkward just standing there, feels clumsy in a way he knows by rights he shouldn’t. He’s not the boy that adored her from afar anymore. Fact of the matter is, he’s not that version of Daryl Dixon at all. He’s grown up and made something of himself in this throwback town, shed the stigma of his family name and used the trauma of his own childhood for good just like she’s transformed herself back into the woman she was always supposed to be, leaving that dick ex-husband of hers in her rear-view mirror and opening up her heart and her doors to make a home. A real one, he’s reminded, if the sounds of the raucous laughter just a few feet away are anything to go by. So when he looks up and finds her pretty blue eyes on him again, it’s not that big of a surprise to see no judgment in their endless depths. That’s Carol. She just has that way about her. There’s only a soft sort of understanding that makes his tight shoulders and his anxious tongue loosen. “Family night, huh?”
She scrunches up her nose and laughs, looks like her girl with her youthful freckles and her infectious light. “It’s a little more than that.”
He glances again at the pile of kids tucked away on leather sofas, flannel blankets and overstuffed pillows strewn on the floor before a crackling fire, every spare inch of the cozy little cabin she and her three teenaged daughters call home, and an answering smile tugs at his lips because it looks like half of King County’s in there. Probably they are. He makes a mental note to keep a watch, make sure the Grimes boy keeps his hands above the blanket pooled at his lap at all times. “Can see that.”
She follows his line of sight and her eyes shine even more if it’s possible, her smile softening fondly.
The pads of his fingers itch to trace something so beautiful. They curl tighter around the mug he cradles instead and he clears his throat. “How’s the boy doing?” His eyes find the youngster amongst the sea of her daughters’ friends, his given reason for dropping by unannounced like he had, short arms draped around the family dog’s shaggy golden neck and upturned face awash in rainbow-tinted wonder as he watches the movie playing on the screen. It’s a marked difference from the first time he’d seen him, hidden away in a bedroom closet, cheeks ruddy with tears and arms wrapped tightly around his trembling knees—a difference he attributes to her and her girls. “Noticed you had him a stocking.”
“Around here?” she shrugs. “Everyone gets one. Even the dog.”
“Can see that, too.”
She sips at her cocoa, her lashes fluttering briefly in bliss before she answers him in a little more detail. “Sam’s doing great. Really settling in. He picked tonight’s movie,” she divulges.
A little kid outsmarting the bad guys and becoming the hero of his own story? Daryl can definitely see the appeal to a boy as powerless as Sam has been for much of his young life, a boy who’s lost so very much thanks to a father that hadn’t deserved him no more than Ed Peletier had deserved the woman across from him or that doe eyed girl who obviously thinks she’s sneaking glances at them from the couch, and he nods. “Ain’t a bad choice.” When she laughs again, his eyes snap back to her face. “What?”
“Such a glowing review,” she teases with a grin. “If it were up to Mika, we’d be watching A Charlie Brown Christmas again.”
She’s happily oblivious to the whipped cream dotting her nose. So damn cute he can’t help but match her smile and shit if he don’t want to kiss her. He chuckles nervously, turns his head before he can do something stupid, like give in to the decades’ old urge in front of an audience full of observant children because he ain’t stupid. Ain’t none of them little assholes fooling him. The middle girl? Lizzie? She’s just the only one brazen enough not to bother hiding it, staring at him with a knowing smirk painted on her lips.
“Or Elf,” she tells him. “Sophia has this inexplicable fondness for Will Ferrell in tights.”
The kid in question groans from the other room, confirming every last one of Daryl’s suspicions, and this time when his eyes find her pretty face again, her cheeks are flushed pink and her eyes overly bright. “Carol?” he asks in concern. “You alright?”
“Oh, for Heaven’s sake.” She’s shaking her head and setting aside her mug, grabbing his and doing the same. She barely gives him any notice before she’s surging up on her tiptoes and pressing her mouth to his mouth, sweet and soft and mindful of watching eyes, more passionate than anything so chaste really has a right to be.
“Hell was that?” he murmurs against her mouth, fidgeting hands finding purchase on her slim hips as she leans into him, her palm placed over his runaway heart.
“Mistletoe,” she explains. “Me. Wanting to do that for a long, long time.”
“Didn’t see that,” he breathes. “Either one of them.”
“I know,” she says, hand sliding down his heaving chest to play with the row of tiny buttons on his shirt. “For someone so observant, you’re awfully dense, Daryl Dixon.”
A chorus of youthful, boisterous voices chime in with varying degrees of amused agreement and he groans, leaning his forehead against hers. “Stop.”
“Kiss me again and I might consider it.”
“Pfft.”
“Sam,” Mika giggles. “Cover your eyes.”

I'm sorry, but if the Book of Carol completely erases her life with Ezekiel and her loss of Henry, I'm going to be upset.
Of course, I understand that she's using the idea of Sophia to get Ash to fly her to France, BUT if they only show flashbacks of Sophia's death or only mention her marriage to Ed, that's erasing 5 seasons of character development. It may sound mean, but I want all that grief to be a part of this season. The grief of how she lost Sophia and went on to survive in tribute only to come to such a low point that she didn’t want to be around anyone, that she wanted to to off into the middle of nowhere, that she didn't even care if she died.
Then, she pulled herself from that to fight for her found family and to protect all the Virginia communities. She allowed herself to be happy with Ezekiel and even came to accept Henry as her son, despite knowing the dangers of the world and knowing what could happen to him.
Regardless of who you ship Carol with, that part of her life was such a major part in her later development and the cause of her downward spiral that prompted her to spend months at sea away from most everyone she knew.

Till THE DEAD do us part | Chapter 1
A/N: This story will take place in all the seasons, but it’s not exactly a rewriting cause I’d have to re-watch everything to use the exactly lines of the characters, also I think it’s better if I tell a side story without changing the main facts of the story. I’m not good with synopses, so sorry about that.
This story has a Female Reader, but I don’t describe her appearance, so anyone can identify with her.
Summary: Y/N Grimes is Rick’s younger sister, when the world ended she had Lori, Carl and Shane. But did she really have them? Her brother was dead, her sister-in-law was sleeping with her brother’s best friend and her nephew was just a small kid. She had him, Daryl Dixon was no knight in a shining armor and she was no damsel in distress, but maybe they were exactly what each other needed.
*gif is not mine, credits on the gif.
Chapter 1: Vulnerable
Summary: Y/N sees something she wasn’t supposed to see, she need to vent about it but she can’t do it with Lori or Shane, because they are the main reason about it. So she goes to the woods hoping to find some peace.
Warnings: mentions of sex, swearing, kinda angsty, a little bit of fluffy, comfort, mentions of death, mentions of violence
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Grimes!Reader
Word Count: 2,072
Extra notes: I proofread the text, but English is not my first language, so feel free to correct any mistakes, of course with a lot of love.
Chapter 2
It was again one more boiling hot day in the Quarry near Atlanta, you thought the temperature would for sure kill you, but there was another thing threatening to take your life and it wasn’t a Zombie.
Before everything, before the world ended, life wasn’t easy. You wanted it to be, but you were living one of the worst moments of your life. You had just lost your job as a vet because you couldn’t save a rich man’s cat and he demanded that you were fired. You felt bad for the poor cat, for your lost job, for your name as a professional that was now forever marked and also for your dog a female German Shepherd called Luna that had to see you not acting like your usual self.
On top of that your older brother, Rick, got shot working… he was a Sheriff’s Deputy. That’s what made you stop feeling sorry for yourself, because you couldn’t. You needed to see your brother laying on a hospital bed in comma, you had to hold things together and take care of Carl and Lori.
Lori and Carl had you, but you had no one, Carl was just a kid and Lori couldn’t even take care of herself at the moment. There was Shane, he was like a brother to you, but even with him there… it was as if you were alone. You just had Luna.
You went to their house and stayed there, you were going to stay until Rick got better, yes, he was going to get better and you would stay just a little bit more to help during his recovery, and everything was going to be fine again. But it never was. The world ended. The dead were walking as if they were alive and Rick died.
Now you lived in a Quarry with Lori, Carl, Shane and a bunch of other survivors. Most of people were pleasant and easy to live with, the exception was Ed, Carol’s husband and Merle Dixon, Daryl’s brother, but this was the apocalypse and you don’t have much choice on the people that are going to be around you.
It had been almost two months since everything happened and the camp was created, almost two months your brother had died… and today, while you were picking some wood, you saw something that felt as if someone was pulling your guts out of your stomach and squeezing your heart.
Lori and Shane. Not Lori and Shane friendly doing what they usually do, they were in the middle of the forest, fucking, and there was no other word you’d use to describe it other than fucking. There wasn’t even two months Rick died, and his best friend and wife were fucking.
You felt nauseated, you went back the same direction you came and knew you had to do something to calm down. You couldn’t afford causing an scene or any uncomfortable situation, you could not hurt Carl.
“Hey! Aunt Y/N, did you already pick all the woods?” Carl shouted to you from the spot he was, playing with Sophia and Luna, Carol watching them.
“Er… wood wasn’t good that side, I’m going to the other side see if I find anything better.” You gave a lame excuse, you just wanted to be alone, cry all this shit out, in silence cause you didn’t want anyone to know and you didn’t want to attract any walkers near the camp.
“Can you look after them a little more, Carol?” You asked the woman, you were sure she was not going to say no, she loved being with the kids and even with Luna.
“Sure, don’t worry.” She said, you nodded and then walked to the opposite side from where you came the fastest as possible, looking down so others wouldn’t see you had started to cry.
You walked until you found a place far enough so no one would find you, but not so far that you would have any trouble. You had a gun and knife, you knew how to defend yourself, but you couldn’t make it easy to the dead to kill you, you were not that dumb.
You sat behind a tree, brought your knees to your chest and hid your face crying. Your thoughts were racing and all you could think was about what you saw, your brother and how you missed him. You listened to some light leaves hustle, but You didn’t give it importance, thinking it was probably the wind, it was so light that it couldn’t be a walker. So you continued minding your own business crying what you had to cry so you could look at your sister-in-law’s face without letting her know how upset you were.
“Ya shouldn’t be out here vulnerable like that” you jumped startled by the redneck’s voice. ‘So that was him,’ you thought, ‘of course, only he could walk with light steps, he was a hunter after all.’ You wiped your tears, not that it would help they were still falling and there wasn’t anything you could do to stop them.
“I’m not vulnerable, I just needed some time alone.” You answered, he was really trying to not be too rough on you given to your situation, but his lack of tact was something he had much difficulty to overcome.
“Ya could cry in your tent, it’s safer”
“I don’t wanna Carl and Lori to see me cry. I don’t wanna have to explain myself, things would get bad if I had to. I don’t wanna upset Carl.” You sniffed, that was one of the worst parts of crying, getting a damn runny nose.
“Shane can’t help?” He asked, you didn’t know but he probably already had some idea of the reason you were crying.
“He’s part of the problem Dixon, if I could I’d punch him and kick his balls” you answered, tears still running down but a little bit calmer.
“Did ya see him and…” he didn’t finish the question, because you completed it for him.
“Lori? Yeah”
Talking about them made you remember everything you saw and how it hurt you. You were still mourning Rick, and Shane and Lori apparently were already moving on. What hurt the most is that even mad at both of them, you still loved them. Lori was like a big sister, a sister that you wish you had while growing up, and Shane? He was your brother he taught you how to defend yourself, he gave you shooting classes, he brought you home the first time you got drunk and even took care of you while you were hangover. When Rick wasn’t there, he was. At this moment you hated him as much as you loved him.
“Do you know if anyone else know about them?” You asked after a long time, you were so lost that you didn’t even noticed that Daryl walked a bit ahead and stoped with his back turned to you. He wanted to give you privacy to cry, but he also couldn’t leave you behind, it was dangerous to you staying so vulnerable at the forest. He knew you could defend yourself, but you didn’t even listened him approaching, you sure were not going to listen to a walker too.
“I don’t know. Probably not. I’m much into the woods, so I caught them a few times.” He answered at distance, not turning to look back at you. “Do ya like him?” Daryl asked and right after he just regretted having opened his mouth, why would he ask such an intimate thing to you? He should just stay there and make sure you’d go back alive to the camp.
“Ew! No! He’s like a brother to me. We grew up together.” You answered disgusted to the idea of liking Shane any other way. “Its not that. My brother, he died. Well, you probably know. And I know Lori needs to continue living and they are adults, but there’s not even 2 months and she moved on that fast and Shane… he was his best friend. I’m still mourning him, the world still doesn’t make any sense without him here and they are already fucking. I know I’m being selfish and emotional but…” you spoke so much that you had already lost your line of thought. Daryl was probably tired of you, he wasn’t one to talk much, but here you were opening all your thoughts to him.
“It’s about yer brother. Ya have the right to feel.” He understood, he had never lost his brother and he hoped he’d not lose him anytime soon. Merle was a dick, and he made him mad most of the time, but he was his brother, so he understood you.
You wiped your tears, calmer and ready to continue. You were still mad and sad about everything, but now you didn’t feel like you were going to die anymore, you were not suffocated. You got up, shook the dirt from your pants and approached the archer.
“I was going to take some wood for fire. I don’t want to go back empty handed. Can you help me?” Now you gave a look at him, and noticed he had some rabbits and squirrels hanging from a rope. He was being essential to maintain everyone fed, he was not one to be socializing around the camp, but he was good and you could see it.
He just nodded and started walking by your side collecting the good woods he found along the way. “Thank you.” You said collecting a branch that you saw.
“For what? I didn’t even take the woods to the camp.” Did he not understand or was he faking?
“Not about the woods. Well, that too… but thank you for staying with me and talk to me, you didn’t have to” ‘but you did’, you completed in your thoughts. “Also, thank you for always bringing us food. I don’t know if I ever told you that.” He grunted, sometimes you wish you could know what he was thinking, you never knew if his grunts mean something good or bad.
“No need to thank me” he never knew how to react at moments like that. Should he say thanks back? Should he give another compliment?
Soon you returned to the camp, he helped you put the woods near the makeshift kitchen and was going to clean the rabbits and squirrels so they could be cooked.
“Luna likes you” you said, you saw how your dog acted around him. He was a little surprised with the comment. “You can take her with you when you want, I see that you like her too.” You smiled, a beautiful one just as if you were not broken or had cried your soul an hour ago.
“She likes my food too” he joked, it was not intentional but after what he said he even got a little smile at the corner of his mouth for some seconds. You giggled before answering.
“I know, she makes the cutest puppy eyes. It’s not her fault if you can’t resist her charms.” He snorted and for some seconds, just few seconds, he thought that maybe she wasn’t the only one he couldn’t resist. As he went to clean the hunt, you went to Carol to say you got the wood and offer to take care of the kids while she started to prepare the food.
You couldn’t take that smile from your face and you didn’t were sure why, you ruffled Luna’s fur while you sat close to the kids and released the dog so she could run around a little. You hated having to let her tied, but you were too afraid of what could happen if she went too far. She ran around the camp and soon approached the archer he pet her and she made her happy tail dance to him, he looked in your direction and you smiled watching their interaction. Your day wasn’t lost, there was still good things to be grateful for, even in a world like this.
Final notes: Please tell me your thoughts. There is a long time I don’t write and publish fanfiction in English so I’d be glad to hear from you.

TPN season I rewatch:
This post will contain many and I mean MANY SPOILERS from season 1. Please if you're new to Promised Neverland do not read this🥺🥰. (There might be multiple parts of this but I don't care😅)
Crazy how many things you can find to the fifth rewatch. Crazy how thrilled and emotional f-ed up I can still get after this. Not my first rodeo, but oh boy... Did I ugly cried. But that's not what we're here for... So let's get into the things what the rewatch made me realise. I paused like in every 3 minutes, there will be many screenshots.
Breaking down the episodes + the fricking foreshadowings:
Crazy how many things first watchers miss. I feel myself stupid just by thinking back that I was also this clueless. (past me would call me crazy if I told her what will happen 🤣🤣🤣)
Episode 1;
Starts idillic, then slowly you start to realise that something is off. What are these overcomplicated tests? Why is there numbers on the kids neck? What is going on? These are most likely the questions first watchers ask themselves (at least I did back then). Now I start to get it how Ray might felt as he began to realise the Houses's secret.
Through this episode you can feel that something is off, then everything goes south once Emma and Norman goes to the Gate.
Now as a rewatcher I saw Little Bunny left on the table and my mind immediately thought of the manga (chapter 180.1), which made it way sadder. Also Ray's reactions makes so much more sense like this.
Not to talk about the test scores.
First picture the older kids and the second is Norman's list about the younger kids. Of course Full Score Trio on the top of the list. Norman most likely never made a mistake, not even in his first test. My personal opinion that Ray had one 'bad' test and Emma had not more than two. I find it so unfair that Gilda and Don are rarely mentioned when we are talking about the scores like... Their scores are pretty good too. But the biggest suprise for me was Phil's archivments (2nd picture). Only spotted now, but damn... Make way for the next genius. No wonder Emma decided that she tells Phil about the escape. She knew what she was doing and who to thrust with the information. After all she was raised by Isabella and just like Norman's and Ray's case, she also developed similar mannerisms as Mom. In Emma's case that would be manipulating others, only difference the she uses it for good.
Episode 2;
Is full of foreshadowing if you know what you're looking for. The tone of the series is not as intense here than it will be around episode 9 or 10, so clues can easily fly under our radar. Take this scene as an example.
Purplish lightning? Isabella and Ray on the screen during that? I wanted to bang my head into the wall when I connected these together. Lots of things hidden in this episode from Ray's and Isabella's relationship to the clues of the season's ending.
Also the Full Score Trio already deserves an Oscar for their acting. Norman and Emma for being able to change their expressions in the matter of seconds and Ray for making them believe that he only discovered the truth now.
Emma being strong enough to hug Mom after discovering the truth and being a total girlboss with the "I wonder what Connie is doing right now" line. It will always be one of the MOST ICONIC lines in this series!
While Ray in this episode being like: “Act fool. Act fool. Act fool” 😂😂😂
Episode 3 - 10;
Why did I separated ep 1 and 2 like this? Because those episodes deserve their own spotlight. They give the base tone of the whole season. I don't say that ep3 to ep10 is not important. Heck no! All episodes deserve the spotlight but I don't want to bore anyone to death😅.
In episode 3 the arrival of Carol and Sister Krone. When I first saw this episode, I just froze into my spot. Now I realise how useful it was to the team. And since Isabella requested a helper, she unintentionally (or maybe intentionally) helped the Trio's plan and helped them, so they make it to the excape.
Sister Krone was a dangerous enemy but also a useful ally. Her motivation was a bit selfish (to become a mom) but I justify them because being a Sister or Mom means that your life is always on the line. [Please check out @fullscoreshenanigans page, her posts and reblogs can explain it better than mines] Also is it just me or does someone else think that Krone had a miscarriage? I don't know why this crossed my mind. Maybe it's the way she shares everything with her old doll somehow made me think of that.
Interesting how the Sister got threatened by both Isabella and Ray in the same episode.
Isabella using the Mom position as a bait for Krone was just perfect. She has years of practice in how to manipulate people's emotions so holding this bait out for the Sister was child play for her.
That Tag where the Trio was against Krone... Oh the memories... The Sister accuratly listing their strengths and weaknesses and also hinting that she knows about their plans. That gave me the thrills when I first watched. Then she lost the game when Ray told her that her time is up (One word; FORESHADOWING!) Actually double foreshadowing at that.
Firstly Ray's pocket watch; That was a gift from Isabella, (like Connie's Little Bunny). He got that gift so he can count the time until his shipment... or at least that's what Mom told him. I think we can all agree that deep down she didn't meant it. Isabella is a good actor but she just pretended to be their enemy.
[Side note: Is it just me or does anyone else thinks, that Ray's pocket watch and Isabella's tracking device looks awfully similar?]
Second foreshadowing? Krone's death. Oh how painful it is to know that it was Ray, who unintentionally, but sentenced her to death.
Why do I think that? Well, in the later episodes, when they have to get Krone out of the picture, Ray writes down something for her. It took me a couple of rewatches to realise that he wrote down his and Isabella's biggest secret... that they are related. Now that the secret got leaked Isabella had to permanently get rid off Krone.
I think Isabella told Grandma in advance that the Sister knows her secret and let Grandma do the dirty work. (But my logic is not flawless, since I only have the tpn artbook and not the mystic code book).
There's many think I could and should talk about... Like how underappreciated Gilda, Don, Anna, Nat and the others are in this season, but I will leave that to the Character Brainrots. However there's one thing which I must talk about regarding to season 1.
Saving Norman!
This two! They only had to exchange one look to let each other know that;
“Yeah, there's no way we let that smart, stupid idiot sacrifice himself”
Oh boy, they were desperate. Emma and Ray are soulmates and right now I don't mean romantical soulmates, because friends and family also can be someone's soulmate.
What I meant to say with this is, that they would try anything in their power to get Norman safely out of the House. They are focusing on the same goal and would do anything to archive it.
So when they plan out loud between the three of them and Emma says that;
“Ray, let's break your leg too”
(Btw, For me this is the third most iconic line from Emma XD. The reactions from the boys is hilarious too🤣)
The black haired boy immediately, without zero hesitation agrees. This is how desperate Ray was. He would have gladly broke his own leg or arm just to make his version of the escape plan succeed. Which plan of course fully crumbles when Norman comes back from the wall, telling them that there's a huge Cliff and it's impossible to go through.
Their last hug in the House is so bittersweet as I rewatcher, because I know it's not the last time they see each other but still... I bawled my eyes out again.
Emma being utterly shocked, refusing to let Norman go. Which causes her to almost ruin their plans at the final goodbye. Trying to deactivate Norman's tracker when Isabella was watching was a really risky idea. But that's what makes Emma, Emma. Just like Krone said, her weakness is caring too much for the others.
Norman on the other hand already accepted the fact that he will die (Spoiler: he won't). Although his calmness is just an act, deep down he wants to escape as desperately as his friends want it. Norman keeps his calm for Emma's and Ray's sake.
And at last but not least Ray. He is clearly on the verge of a mental breakdown. First thing I noticed was his eyes. Maybe it was a conscious action, maybe it was just because of the yellowish background, but his eyes look more purple here.
Ray tries to gatekeep his emotions and fake indifference but fails miserably. I think this was the moment he decided to truly give up the whole "I escape with them" part of the plan.
For our luck Emma and Norman didn't let Ray's suicide plan succeed.
[Side note: I totally forgot Ray cried during this hug. Poor boy. I wish I could tell him that everything will turn out just fine]
Okay that's all for now, mostly because I reached the picture and video limit. I hope it was interesting, even for something this long😅😅. See you soon everyone 🥰.

hi i have been obsessed with your “the monster’s body is a cultural body etc” post since i saw it like a month ago. do you have any book recs where i can read more about this, like, forever. (I’m aware of your podcast I’m checking it out too) <3
i'm glad you liked it, it's an honor to introduce the people of tumblr to cohen's seven theses
first and foremost i would recommend The Monster Theory Reader, ed. Jeffrey Andrew Weinstock, which includes several seminal essays including:
"The Uncanny" by Sigmund Freud
"The Uncanny Valley" by Masahiro Mori
"Approaching Abjection" by Julia Kristeva
"Horror and the Monstrous-Feminine: An Imaginary Abjection" by Barbara Creed
"The Monster and the Homosexual" by Harry M. Benshoff
i would also recommend the book in which Cohen first published his seven theses, Monster Theory: Reading Culture, ed. Jeffrey Jerome Cohen
(i must admit that i haven't gotten around to reading either of these books in full yet)
aside from the essays mentioned above, here are some foundational texts for monster theory but not specifically about monster theory:
The Uses of Enchantment by Bruno Bettelheim
Mythography: The Study of Myths and Rituals by William Doty
Vested Interests: Cross-Dressing and Cultural Anxiety by Marjorie Garber
monster theory/horror criticism texts i've read:
Monsters in the Closet by Harry M. Benshoff
Skin Shows by Jack Halberstam
Murder Most Queer by Jordan Schildcrout
It Came from the Closet, ed. Joe Vallese
Horror by Brigid Cherry
Men, Women, and Chain Saws by Carol Clover
Dark Places by Barry Curtis
The Dread of Difference, ed. Barry Keith Grant
The Monster Show by David J. Skal (SEE NOTE BELOW)
Darkly: Black History and America's Gothic Soul by Leila Taylor
The Ghost: A Cultural History by Susan Owens
and some others i own but haven't read yet:
Dark Carnivals by W. Scott Poole
Phantom Past, Indigenous Presence: Native Ghosts in North American Culture and History by Colleen E. Boyd and Coll Thrush
Queer for Fear: Horror Film and the Queer Spectator by Heather O. Petrocelli
Pretend We're Dead: Capitalist Monsters in American Pop Culture by Annalee Newitz (just started this, already love it)
Theatre and the Macabre, ed. Meredith Conti and Kevin J. Wetmore, Jr.
and i can't neglect to mention The Monster in Theatre History: This Thing of Darkness by Michael Chemers
before i say anything further i want to give one warning. my particular interest is on monstrosity and queerness (probably evident based on some of my recommendations). monster theory and horror criticism have generally been rooted in psychoanalytic theory, particularly as it has been interpreted through a feminist lens. unfortunately, this leads to a lot of arguments and interpretations that are sex essentialist and fail to address gender with the necessary nuance. this is particularly true in Men, Women, and Chain Saws and The Dread of Difference.
(Vested Interests is… complicated. it's not monster theory exactly but cohen cites it. garber is generally better than the others mentioned here in her consideration of trans people but her work can still be uncomfortable.)
i have a lot of reservations about recommending The Monster Show. i loved reading it and i think skal has great analysis. somehow, however, in the middle of his discussion of how marginalized people have been historically monsterized in american culture, he has the audacity to cite The Transsexual Empire by Janice Raymond, the ur-text of TERF ideology, and skal uses this text to monsterize trans women. it's disgusting and reprehensible, and if the rest of the book wasn't so strong i wouldn't recommend it
the best medicine i have are texts by trans people. It Came from the Closet is an anthology with several essays by trans people, i adore it. i am forever obsessed with Gender Outlaw by Kate Bornstein, which isn't exactly monster theory, but i would say it's monster theory adjacent and i wish everyone would read it
and if you haven't, you must read "My Words to Victor Frankenstein Above the Village of Chamounix: Performing Transgender Rage" by Susan Stryker. (see i even put a link to that one. drop everything and read it now)
alright if you're still with me i have a couple other things to put out there:
the docuseries Queer for Fear, available on Shudder, is incredible and i'm obsessed with it
she seems to be inactive these days but @draculasdaughter has a lot of posts quoting texts and articles on monster theory/horror criticism that i highly recommend
i've only seen the jacob geller videos on this list but i mean to watch this youtube playlist of video essays about horror, fear, and dread
and i also keep a #monster theory tag on my blog that has various posts on the subject, some funny and some earnest
