I'm not sure the novelty of a doctor actually providing me with compassionate and competent treatment will ever wear off.
Like... I've known for years I am sick. Logically I am aware I've been ignored, abused, and violated. But there's still that abused and gaslit part of my brain fearfully murmuring, "But what if I am doing this for attention and I just don't know it? what if I am a Bad Patient?"
And it's so ingrained that even when a doctor tells me they ran biopsies that confirm my diagnosis irrefutably, I'm still like, "Wow, I sure am a good liar being able to fake biopsies like that." Like bitch, the fuck did I do? Manifest a fake result through the power of my brain?
What kind of Matilda-ass-nonsense do I think I'm capable of? And why am I not using it to make Elon Musk explode at will?
Anyway. I hope my therapist's great-grandkids enjoy the college education I'm about to bankroll. Fuck me.

When you consider how many health problems are caused or exacerbated by stress, it's really not surprising that a lot of popular alternate healing modalities involve things that reduce stress for many people, like certain types of music/frequencies, gentle physical touch (often involved in energy healing), and focusing on pretty things (like, crystal healing and some guided meditations).
And like, it's great that they're reducing their stress! People should try to reduce their stress! If a healing frequency track is what does it for you, then by all means, go for it!
But also like, there needs to be more awareness of like, "doing this thing can be immensely helpful if your problems are stress-related, but not all of your problems are stress-related and some of them are going to require a different approach."

Western doctors' egos are so big they can't see they're not practicing medicine, they're undereducated glorified drug dealers for capitalism and arms of the patriarchy. I'm burnt out from being gaslit, I'm traumatized from trusting in their "science", I've lost years of my life on waiting lists, only to be disappointed in the end.
Western medicine is implicitly biased against and incapable of caring for autistic people with complex trauma, for women and young people with chronic illness, and for the mentally ill. Pathologizing humanity. Our society is sick and soulless. I know who to call when I'm craving a bandaid for my bullet hole.
