RONAN LA

Tucked off of a parking lot behind the store fronts of LA's busy Melrose Ave, Ronan's sustainably raised and grown Italian menu items and craft cocktails might have been easy to overlook—but Daniel and Caitlin Cutler had a plan for that. In early 2018 as the final preparations were being made to the space Los Angeles urban art icon David Flores was brought in to create this still life, applying a stunning graphic style usually reserved for his portraits. Introduced to oil painting at age 7 Flores says he does not differentiate between his mural work, canvases, sculpture, or product design, applying the same creativity to everything he touches.  @davidfloresart/  @ronan_la/

"EMPOWERING WOMEN IN AFRICA"

The world's first open-source philanthropy The @Nourafchan Foundation—driven by the people that support it—believes every human has the right to be healthy and happy. In 2017 a foundation group was in Kibera, East Africa's largest slum, and when they fell in love with a group of artisan women and their beading techniques they "saw an opportunity not to lift up others, but to empower from inside a community." SAWA Life was born, providing sustainable employment for this group of vulnerable women. Originally from Mexico City and now living in Los Angeles @GabbaGallery says Iskar's inspiration "originally came from classic illustrations, vintage comics, and modern pop art," all refined by three years in London. Iskar's work bridges the gallery and street art worlds and in 2019 he brought a pair of African Warrior sketches to life in LA at @7575Melrose to promote @MySAWALife and the efforts of Nourafchan.  @1skr/
