Oh i thought because you like ancient Greek mythology you would like neoclassicism. But of course it's not the same because the ancient Greek marbles were extraordinary and inspired the neoclassicism which was European but unfortunately Greeks were participated in this :(

I think the question was what I find interesting, not what I like. I like a lot of things that I don't find interesting, and lot of things I don't like catch my interest.

however, I did include neoclassicism in my answer, as partly overlapping/ being included in academic art, but not because of its rather superficial relation to ancient greek mythology or ancient greece. I really like observing the skill and knowledge it showcases, so that's why it is interesting to me. I like a lot of ancient greek art in the same way that I like all art, that is to say, sometimes because of the concept (be is something funny or unique etc) , sometimes because it's stylized in a way that I enjoy, sometimes because I admire the skill, and sometimes because it's showing me something interesting, like pottery drawings that show mundane every day things. The vast majority of art we have from anceint greece as a whole isn't like hermes of praxiteles or the doryphoros or any other masterpiece. Masterpieces were and still are few and far between, in general. Drawing and painting in europe after the rennaisance was miles ahead of ancient greek drawing and painting in terms of skill. I don't see anything particularly extraordinary about ancient greek sculpture specifically, the same type of masterpieces were made in rome later, in the rennaisance and even nowadays, whenever artists had enough resources and the overall art climate was leaning towards more realistic renderings. The artists back then and the artists now are the same type of human. It so happened that in an area with excellent climate, wealth sources such as silver mines and overseas trade and a frankly huge amount of easily available marble, as well as political and social curcumstances that nurished the arts, this type of sculpture was developed and flourished, but drawing on centuries of experience, and prior influence from the monumental works of the ancient egyptians, at the very beginning. that's all to say that I don't think it's good to have an idealised idea of ancient greek art and we need to shake that way of thinking off asap. We must go to a museum and look at all the things, not just the 2 famous, exceptional exhibits, if we want to talk about an entire culture's (or often, slightly different sub culutures included in the same overall category) artwork. That pottery piece with the funny hoplite owl means so much more to me than the aphrodite of melos, who I frankly neither like as an art piece nor care about (and that's fine because we all have our completely subjective preferences for art), and the overwhelming majority of art from minoan to hellenistic times leans more towards the first in terms of what I would call measurable skill for lack of a better word.

TL:DR That's an inexcusably long rant form my part to say that I don't think the neoclassical masterpieces were in any objective way infrerior to the masterpieces from the 5th or 4th century bce. PS There's a lot that's been said and can be said about the west's greek-excluding perception of ancient greece so i won't get into that now.

Lauryn Hill- “ I Gotta Find A Peace Of Mind”(Blues)

Theme: Mental Health 

This musical masterpiece represents trying to find yourself, especially during hard times. I chose this piece because it encourages people to put themselves first even if they think it’s impossible. She says phrases such as “ He says it’s impossible, but I know it's possible,” implying that it can always happen even through the hate of someone doubting you loving yourself. Lauryn Hill uses a poetic tone throughout the song to give the audience the feeling that she’s talking strictly to them. This plays with the emotion by spreading courage because with this piece of work, she basically telling a story as well of the man she’s dealing with telling her that she could be nothing without him which a lot of women could relate to being with or dealing with a man as such.

Sean Kingston- “Beautiful Girl”(Pop)

Theme: Heartbreak

Kingston acknowledges the beauty in this particular girl but also uses words such as, “suicidal” to show the heartbreak a girl could give a young boy when they both thought they had what we consider love and that they would be together forever. Creating a sad emotion toward the audience but the tempo of the beat allows the body to flow due to the culture behind it.

Rod Wave- “Long Journey”( Rap) 

Theme- Success

I chose this song because it represents the journey that you took to get to where you at now for me going through regular schooling to be able to get to college where I am at has been a success for me and an eye opener. Through the Melo flow of his voice, he explains his story of coming from nothing to being able to take care of everyone around him including his twin daughters. Through the song, he continues to thank God for being able to make away for him to make a difference and using him to be able to make this change. He uses the phrase “ Kept the devil away from us” Implying that God kept evil away to bring good instead.

Tracy Chapman- "Fast Car"( Country)

Theme- Parent Love

I enjoy this piece so much I love the original but I also enjoy the Luke Combs version as well this piece doesn't really relate to me, but I just love the flow of the song and mainly the beat. This piece makes me happy just because of her voice and the tone which give off a soothing relaxing feeling in a song just to sit back and enjoy. Through this piece, she explains her quitting school to be able to take care of her elderly father because she felt like that was her duty and calling.

Zapp & Roger- "Computer Love"( Electric)

I enjoy listening to this old classic which was introduced to me by my mother. This song refers to computer love which explains the love between two individuals and how they use the techniques of an computer to be able to find each other. Dying Wish - Symptoms Of Survival

Two years ago, metalcore band Dying Wish dropped their debut album, 2021’s Fragments Of A Bitter Memory, and I really enjoyed it. I first heard of them through Knocked Loose’s 2019 masterpiece, A Different Shade Of Blue, where their vocalist was featured, but their debut album was a great mix of modern metalcore with an early 00s “Gothenburgcore,” or metalcore bands that were influenced by 90s Swedish melodic-death metal bands like Entombed or At The Gates, but it had its own slight unique edge to it. Dying Wish helped to bring that nostalgic sound of metalcore back into the fold, and it was cool to be influenced by the early 00s again. The album wasn’t super unique, despite being influenced by something that wasn’t popular (especially when nu-metal was huge in metalcore at that same time), but it was good. It was one of my favorites of the year, and I was excited for where this band would go next.

Well, in a move that doesn’t shock me much, the band pretty much made the same album twice with Symptoms Of Survival, although they tweaked their sound just enough to make it stand out, and I always love when bands do that. This album is still very heavy, including some sick breakdowns throughout its 32-minute runtime, but they do utilize more melody and catchier moments here. Vocalist Emma Bolster uses her clean vocals a lot, and they sound even better here than they did on the debut, although they were quite good. The album has a lot of really cool riffs, too, that harken back to the early 00s metalcore scene where bands were influenced by melo-death, and they use that to their advantage. This record has just enough death metal oomph that I could see a death metal fan getting into this, even if they typically go for metalcore.

The only real issue I have with this record is that it does sound like their debut. They only slightly expand on their sound, but they do it enough to make their new one stick out on its own, albeit very barely. It’s enough to make this one worth a listen, but if you were expecting more from the debut, you may like this one more, although it’s barely an elevation. I enjoy this record a lot, because I enjoy their brand of metalcore, but it did leave me feeling slightly disappointed. Not enough to say that this album is bad, or not worth your time at all, but I haven’t spent much time with this for that reason.
