Just realized reason number 6472772 that the “Speak Friend and Enter” scene is hilarious and the Fellowship are all dumbos: all those posts about Legolas or Boromir or Aragorn silently trying to figure out which dialect of the word friend they should use… it’s literally right there on the door. It says, speak mellon and enter. Seriously.
