Part 1 previous
-
Anna sits on Melkor's lap, purring as he reads with a small smile. A rapping on the door has her claws stinging his thighs as she freezes, her tiny body pressed into him. He rests a hand on her head, gently rubbing her ears, and carefully disentangles her claws from his skin with the other. "Come now, baby, shall we see who's at the door?"
Last time he had visitors, they took Anna from him and used her as his chain. His eyes track around the simple room, and after a moment he moves to the tiny kitchen and picks up the largest cooking knife. Holding Anna in the crook of one arm, the blade in the other, he pulls open the door.
Mairon is leaning one elbow on the frame, cocky smirk so achingly familiar. His red hair is braided back, as it ever was, and he's once again in a simple smith's smock. "Hiya."
"Mairon?" The knife thuds into the wooden floor. "Mairon, what are you doing here? I'm not allowed to see you." His body aches with the urge to kiss his former lover, to pin him to that damn door frame and mark him as his own– and yet he's frozen.
Mairon's face softens. "I had to come, precious. I heard... I was worried."
"You'll be punished for it, won't you?" Anna squirms in his arms, and Melkor absently scratches her ears to calm her. His feet settle on the ground again, though the yearning ache still tries to pull him towards Mairon.
"Is that your cat?" Mairon holds out a hand. "She's adorable."
"Her name is Anna," Melkor murmurs, looking down at her dark fur. "After you."
Mairon smiles sadly. "Precious, are you alright? After everything...?"
"No," Melkor admits. "I'm not. But... love, it's nothing you can help with."
And if that's not a damn lie.... True, most of it Mairon can't help with. He could, in theory, help fix the one problem his appearance caused, but... Melkor doesn't want to be thrown in the Void again. If he breaks any of the conditions of his parole–
"Mew!" He's startled from his thoughts when Anna's claws somehow catch in Mairon's braid.
"Oh. Oh dear. I'm so sorry." Melkor's hands shake as he tries to pull Anna's claws from the hair of a laughing Mairon.
He's not expecting Mairon to lean up and kiss him.
"I love you," Mairon murmurs, while Melkor is still frozen against the wall, heart beating far too fast from the shock of the kiss. "I still love you, my lord, I always will. Please never forget. And you too, little Anna," he adds with a nod to the kitten just before he spins and takes to the sky as an eagle.
Melkor leans back against the door frame, Anna held close to his chest. His hand trembles as it smoothes her fur, and stills for a moment. A tiny sandpaper tongue rasps over his thumb.
Melkor lets out a sound that's half laugh, half cry. "Oh, kitten mine. I've missed him so."
There's an empty place in his heart shaped like Mairon. Uncounted centuries alone dulled the pain, softened his grief, but now the edges of that Mairon-shaped space are torn roughly open again.
Anna's purring is the only sound he can hear. It's not enough, anymore.

Tengwar <3
It's the best thing Feanor made. Seriously. Nobody will murder you for using Tengwar. Nobody will hack your brain when you use Tengwar in the wrong moment. (The lamps are ok, but kinda meh, Tengwar is better)
Did you know, just did you know, that every consonant has a name, and the name is a noun, and some are really cool (and foreshadowing)? (chart and translations below the cut)
So, if you want a chart, here is a chart. And the names are (I don't have diacritics, so I just double the long vowels) (Quenya mode, with some historical notes from LotR appendix and elvish.org):
"Normal stuff Feanor had on his desk" row:
T tinco - metal
P parma - book
K calma - lamp (like those Feanor made? Or... like those Aule made)
Q quesse - feather (birds are important!)
"Things that keep you trapped" row:
ND ando - gate (like... the Door of Night?)
MB umbar - doom (doesn't need a comment...)
NG anga - iron (also, used in sword names, even for non-iron swords)
NGW (in TA changed to NW) ungwe - spider's web (foreshadowingsight on Feanor's part? :) )
"Mountain things???" row
S suule - spirit or breath (Manwe Sulimo... king of winds and stuff...) | TH thuule - spirit or breath, but I'm a Feanorian, or at least I'm a linguistics geek and love the phonetic scheme (me! but otoh it sounds dumb :( ), or I love the Teleri and/or Sindar, who use it as th (Finarfin, iirc).
F formen - north
H (h before t) harma (voiceless velar fricative phonetically /x/... I think. the sources are confusing. In TA mostly softened into a breath h.) - treasure (my precious Silmarills...) | aha (later renamed, idk when) - rage (my Silmarils! and, even more importantly, my father!)
HW (like "wh" in "why" especially the fancy British way of saying it where it's actyally h-w, not w-h) hwesta - breeze
"We need to name a row after places of articulation" row
NT anto - mouth (couldn't you think of a better name? I get it's a place-of-articulation row, but i don't like it anyway)
MP ampa - hook
NC anca - jaw
NQ unque - hole
"Things that Melkor likes" row:
N nuumen - west (Numenor...)
M malta - gold
NG (by TA: N) noldo - Noldo, as in type of Elf. Yes, it was initially Ngoldo. I mean, initially initially it was a gnome, so...
NW nwalme - tornment
"I have no idea but vaguely positive-metaphysical?..." row
R (pre-consonant or end-of-the-word R | non-vibrating r, whatever this means. My bet is that it's "r" as in Japanese --- position like "r", movement like "d") oore - heart (or: rising. Guess whose name includes this component. funny that it's the same word as heart, especially given that heart is also defined as conscience here)
V vala - power (duh.)
Y (? it has some history) [there was a consonant here]anna - gift (totally not made into a sus word by now...)
W/V (Initially W, by TA changed to V) wilya - air / lower sky (funny how those two names are next to one another. )
"Really, I think Feanor ran out of ideas for coherent name sets" row
R (vibrating, typpical "rrr") romen - east (the same sound being written with "East" and with a word alternatively translating to "heart" or part of Melkor's name --- I love it! Why? See my recent post. I love that. Call it a coincidence, but I love it)
RD arda - realm
L lambe - speech
LD alda - tree (!)
Now we are not in regular rows, so, the extra letters:
S silme - starlight (or... metaphysically important light in general? because guess what word is connected to this one. Also, funny how it's just after "tree"). It's always S, never TH.
(nuquerma is just "flipped" or something I guess)
Z aaze - day / sunlight (in Noldorin changed to Z - aare) | SS esse (Numenor and later, because they did not use the "z" sound, I think) - name
HY (Numenor and later: H) hywarmen - south
I yanta - bridge
U uure - heat
(doesn't have a sound, in Sindarin it's A) osse - terror (I guess he isn't a very nice Maia?)
H (voiceless h: /h/ not /x/; in TA replaced by harmen) halla - tall | gasdil - stop
(short wovel carrier) telco - stem
(long carrier) aara - dawn
The Tengwa names after directions are also used as marks in the compass (like we use NSWE) And snarky comments aside, I love the schema and how the names connect into many interesting and often Silm-events-related patterns. I love how each (almost) row is named after a set of similar things.
I'm not an expert, and if I made some mistakes, I'll be grateful for corrections.

HELL YEAH just gave the song a listen and the vibes are immaculate <3 <3

Kill Me Every Time by Blue Stahli
Song #3 by Stone Sour (big YTTM Melkor energy imo)
Anna by Stone Sour
I Come with Knives by IAMX
Tear You Apart by She Wants Revenge
Written in Blood by She Wants Revenge

Sauron - Fast Facts 2
Tumblr media
Thuringwethil was a Vampire servant of Sauron during the First Age. She was Sauron's messenger, but was caught in the battle between her master, Lúthien and Huan at Tol-in-Gaurhoth ("Isle of Werewolves"). She was slain either by the Hound of Valinor or in the collapse of Minas Tirith. Lúthien later used her cloak to sneak into Angband during the Quest for the Silmaril.[1] Because of Thuringwethil's ability to change forms, she may have been a Maia or some sort of skin-changer.
Tumblr media
Sauron's other names
Sindarin - Gorthaur.mp3By Gilgamesh. (Help; more articles)Quenya - Mairon.mp3By Gilgamesh. (Help; more articles)Annatar.mp3By Ardamir. (Help; more articles)
Gorthaur was a name used of Sauron by the Sindar during the First Age,[2][55] meaning "Terrible Dread". The name is composed of the elements gor ("horror, dread") and thaur ("abominable, abhorrent").[54] The Quenya equivalent was Ñorsus.[3]
In some of Tolkien's notes from the 1950s, it is said that Sauron's original name was Mairon (Q, "the Admirable"), but this was altered after he was suborned by Melkor. He continued to call himself Mairon the Admirable, or Tar-mairon ("King Excellent"), until after Númenor's downfall,[3] although he could not use that name in Númenor, as it was a Quenya name with royal implications. There he was called Zigûr,[19] meaning "Wizard" in Adûnaic.[56]
Annatar is Quenya for "Lord of Gifts", from anna + tar.[57] It can be noticed that Morgoth used a similar name when he seduced the first Men: "Giver of Gifts".[58] In an isolated note, Tolkien gives other names used by Sauron when he seduced the Elves in the Second Age: Artano ("High-smith") and Aulendil ("Devoted to Aulë").[59]
Among his many titles and epithets were:
The Base Master of Treachery, used once by Gandalf to explain why the Mouth of Sauron should not be trusted.[60]
The Black One, used once by Gollum.[61]
The Black Hand, used twice by Gollum.[46]
The Black Master, used by Isildur when cursing Sauron's former servants, the Oathbreakers.[37]
The Dark Lord, given by the Free Peoples after he rose in the Second Age.[5]
The Dark Power, used by Gandalf.[62]
The Deceiver, given by Amandil before departing to ask the Valar deliverance from Sauron's corruption.[17]
The Enemy, given by the Free Peoples after he rose in the Second Age.[5]
The One Enemy, used once by Frodo Baggins.[63]
The Eye, with its variants, mainly refered to his mental form and his emblem, but also applied to Sauron himself.[64]
The Great, following the name of Sauron, it is only used once by Gandalf,[62] once by Glóin,[13] and once by the Mouth of Sauron.[60]
The King of Kings, given by himself when he rose in the Second Age, enraging Ar-Pharazôn.[18]
The Lord of the Earth, given by himself when he rose in the Second Age.[5]
The King of Men, given by himself when he rose in the Second Age, enraging Ar-Pharazôn.[17]
The Lord of the World, given by himself when he rose in the Second Age, enraging Ar-Pharazôn.[18]
The Necromancer, used during his rule in Dol Guldur when his identity was unknown.[13]
The Nameless, probably given by the people of Gondor, as it is only used by Boromir as Nameless Enemy,[13] by Faramir as Nameless One,[65] and by the watchmen of Gondor.[66]
The Lord of the Ring or Lord of the Rings.
The Ring-maker.[62]
The Ruler, used once by Saruman during his confrontation with Gandalf.[13]
The Shadow, not properly given to him, but to his power when he expanded it in the Third Age.[5]
The Sorcerer, used during his rule in Dol Guldur when his identity was unknown.[13]
Wolf-Sauron, the name given to the dreadful werewolf-shape that Sauron took on when he went to do battle with Huan.[10]

chaoswrought:
Anna nuzzled at his Mama, his mind open to show a mess of fears not his own but that seemed to all come in a dream and scared him. Loneliness that felt like Mairon, and the vision of the void through Melkor’s eyes. From Sin was his father’s voice whispering how he had failed and a feeling of rejection and being ignored from Aira. From Neti came pains from the elves trapped deep in a pit and finally the feeling of falling and no one reaching for his hand from Amanaisal. Anna had somehow been so open in his nap he had swiped the terrors of his siblings and parents.
“Oh, little Anna.” Mairon sighed, pressing his forehead against Anna’s, opening his own mind and feeding back into him; Mairon’s joy at with his children, the pride he felt for Melkor, his hopes for his other children’s future, images of Baby with his cousin learning to fly.
“It is alright. We are all safe now.”
Baby tries hard to bring little Anna to Mama, but Anna is fussy and upset and trying to fight for freedom at least till he sees Mama and bursts out crying to Mairon to hold him.
Tumblr media
Mairon was at his work bench, bent over a particularly troublesome piece of metal, the pattern he was working on extremely delicate. He could hear Annasen fussing, but knowning Baby was with him, only turned around when he heard the cry.
"Oh, Anna, don't cry. Mama is here." He lifted Anna up and cuddled him, then reached to lift Baby in his other arm. At least he had practice holding two. "Are you being a big brother today, Baby?"

For the song prompts can you please do I won't say I'm in love(from Hercules) for Silvergifting? Like maybe with Mairon opening up to a romance with Tyelpe after moving on from Melkor?
Of course! (For anyone curious, I’m still doing prompts from this list or from this post).
“...and then that’s how we’ll set the spell.” Celebrimbor looks up from the desk to grin brightly. Mairon melts, slightly, smiling back.
“Yes,” He agrees. I believe that that would work.”
You’re in love, a voice sounding remarkably like Thuringwethil says, idly drifting across his mind. You’re in love but you won’t admit it. Stubborn as always - what did I tell you?
Celebrimbor’s eyes light up. “Then we should start planning. What should we make it of: the prototype, that is? I suppose we could try a few metals but maybe we should start with gold. I’ve got a bit lying around.”
He turns around, his long braid swishing as he does so, and Mairon gets the inexplicable urge to undo it, just so he could pull his fingers through it.
Pathetically in love, another voice adds, smooth and smug. Why Tevildo has wound his way into Mairon’s midday hallucinations is a mystery to Mairon but here he is in all his annoying glory. Honestly, it’s almost as bad as Melkor’s pining after you.
Melkor.
Melkor. Mairon clenches and unclenches his jaw while Celebrimbor’s back is turned. He loves Melkor so he can’t love Celebrimbor. He loves Melkor.
He doesn’t even know if Melkor still exists or if he has been eaten away completely by the monster that took his husband’s form.
Or if the void has just swallowed him up and there is nothing left for Mairon to grip to anymore.
“Oh!” Celebrimbor spins around. “I had a thought! What if we...” He trails off, tilting his head in concern. “Are you alright?”
And he loves you too, Gothmog adds.
Mairon smiles. “Of course.”
“No. You’re crying.” Face still creased in worry, Celebrimbor dodges around the workbench to reach up and stroke away tears Mairon hadn’t realised he had shed.
Don’t be obtuse brother-mine. I married an elf too you know.
“It’s fine, really.” But Mairon leans ever so slightly into Celebrimbor’s feather light touch.
Admit it! Curumo insists, joining the chorus of voices in Mairon’s head.
Mairon clenches his fist as they all clamour for him to...for him to...
Let me go, Precious.
“Annatar?” Celebrimbor looks at him curiously.
It’ll be alright, I promise.
“Anna?”
Let go.
Mairon meets Celebrimbor’s eyes, concern and emotion and love all mixing together in an open display of affection and Mairon sobs, leaning forward and burying his face in Celebrimbor’s neck.
Celebrimbor asks no questions, just holds him tight as they both sink to the floor.
Mairon can’t admit it yet but he loves him as surely as he loves Melkor.
But he thinks he might be able to soon.

cw threat of animal death
People seemed to like Melkor with an emotional support kitty so!
Edit: link to part 1
-
They could never take him, not on their own.
Melkor kneels before the elves, no chain keeping him in place. His gaze is fixed on the bundle in one elf's arms, the beautiful little piece of darkness that gazes back at him with glass-green eyes. She's too far to reach before the elf wrings her neck.
"Morgoth."
His attention snaps back to the elf before him. He doesn't remember the name. It's not important, he's not one of their rulers, just some guard who found the residence of the former Dark Lord.
"That is not my name." His voice is low and gravelly, grating in his throat. In the elf's arms, his cat mews in reply.
"You hurt our people," the elf says, stepping forward. Torchlight glints off his steel-toed boot.
Anna's crying mew comes from the elf's arms again, a needle stabbing into Melkor's heart.
"Have I not paid the price with my imprisonment already? Please, leave, let my cat go and leave."
"You think it's that easy?" The elf shakes his head. "You took my brother from me! For that, I would see you suffer." A sharp toe drives into his ribs, and Melkor gasps in pain.
The elf kicks him again, and two others close in.
Melkor isn't even chained, it would be so easy to fight them off, to crush them and burn them and let them die slowly. He should! He should tear them apart for this.
...But the last elf still holds his sweet Anna, long fingers wrapped loosely around her little neck. So Melkor remains still, letting the elves take their rage out on his body.
They have a lot of rage to work out.

Old Hollywood Silm is Back
Well, folks, here’s the deal. A few years ago I decided that the only sensible thing for me to do was to fancast the entire Silmarillion only using actors from approximately the 1920s-1950s. And just for laughs, I’ve decided to bring it back, with a few updates.
While I am not a casting expert, all decisions made by me are CORRECT and FINAL.
Part 1: Some Valar
Bing Crosby as Manwe
Tumblr media
Anna May Wong as Varda
Tumblr media
Hattie McDaniel as Yavanna
Tumblr media
George Hayes as Aule
Tumblr media
Buddy Ebsen as Ulmo
Tumblr media
John Wayne as Orome
Tumblr media
And, of course,
Clark Gable as Melkor

Chapters: 26/26 Fandom: TOLKIEN J. R. R. - Works & Related Fandoms, The Silmarillion and other histories of Middle-Earth - J. R. R. Tolkien Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Characters: Manwë, Varda, Nienna, Melkor, Yavanna, Nessa, Vána, Vairë, Estë, Námo, Ungoliant, Finwë, Findis, Fëanor, Nerdanel, OCs, Indis (Tolkien), Salgant (Tolkien), Oromë, Irmo, Tulkas Additional Tags: AU Summary:
In which the Valar make a decision about the conditions of Melkor's release from Mandos which is in my view rather better than the one that They actually made.
HEY GUYS, this fic by Anna Wing is now FINISHED and if you needed a happy ending for everyone in the Silmarillion, in the “crack premise taken absolutely seriously with the consequences thoughtfully followed through” genre you should definitely consider reading it!

* ✧ ∗ H E A D C A N O N ;; mairon
H A I R   C O L O R
Mairon’s hair changes from golden-red to dull grey/white depending on when in the timeline things are.
Basically the idea is that his hair color reflects the damage he’s taken to his eäla. From the beginning to after his defeat by Lúthien and Huán it’s golden-red and glowing. I’ll talk a bit more about the glowing in a later post. After turning to Melkor, it gets a bit darker and a richer red, but not much. It’s still very much golden.
The first strands of grey appear after Mairon loses favor with Melkor. It’s not much (think the white in Anna’s hair from Frozen), but it’s a little, and these colorless parts of his hair don’t give off any glow.
When he forges the One, most of his hair goes colorless after he puts much of his power into it. He still has some of the red-gold, but it’s more than 50% colorless.
After Númenor in the second age, his hair is a construct of shadow and flame, so this doesn’t apply.
In the Third Age, it’s almost completely colorless aside from a few singular strands.
In the Fourth Age it was completely colorless at first, but is very slowly regaining color as he recovers.
