His Sister
Tumblr media
Words: 794
Pairing: Trip Tucker x Reader
A/N: sorry I haven’t posted in so long!!
Request:  Malcolm sisters reader and trip love at first sight - Anon
______________________
Trip grumbled as he stood waiting, he hated this. Absolutely hated welcoming new people to the ship. He'd rather scoop his own eyes out with a fork. He usually put on a fake smile but today he really wasn’t in the mood.
Crossing his arms he leant against the nearby console as he waited for the people inside the shuttle to emerge. He knew Malcolms sister was joining and thought it was silly that her own brother couldn't just show her around. No need to roll out the carpet. Trip had better things to be doing after all.
He could hear voices approaching, standing up properly he put on a smile as Malcolm, and who he could only assume was his sister emerged.
That fake smile was soon replaced with a genuine one as soon as he properly saw you, beautiful, stunning and had a smile that people would start wars over.
You laughed at your brother as he made a joke about the rest of the crew and Trip felt his heart flutter at the sound.
"Y/N this is Trip Tucker our chief of security." He looked at the man and could see the sparkle in his eyes and the way he looked at you. He knew that look, a look that was undeniable, Trip really had gone and crushed on his sister immediately. Malcolm rolled his eyes as he watched you shake his hand.
"Pleasure to meet you Trip."
"My honour to meet you."
Melcombe cleared his throat "should we start the tour? Get things going and you settled."
"Sure" You agreed as your brother gestured for Trip to go first as he settled into step beside you as Trip lead the way.
You listened to the man intently as you walked. Taking in the sights as he pointed them out but you were soon interrupted by someone asking Malcolm to report to the bridge immediately.
The man let out a sigh and quickly excused himself, hating to leave you and Trip together, you were his little sister after all.
The tour of the ship with Trip continued, you couldn’t help but notice his sweet smile and the way he answered any question you had, even if it was ridiculous.
“I’ll leave you to it. Get yourself settled and I’ll see you at dinner later?” the man lingered by the door to your quarters.
“Sure” you smiled “It’ll be nice to see another friendly face, besides Malcolm’s.”
“I’ll catch you later Y/N.” the man’s grin widened as he left your room.
What Trip was totally unprepared for was Malcolm gunning for him down the corridor. “We need to talk.” he could see the pissed off expression on the mans face.
“What is it now?” Trip tried to brush off, finding some amusement in it but also feeling slightly concerned.
Malcolm grabbed his friends upper arm and dragged him around the corner.
“If you hurt Y/N I’ll absolutely end you.”
Trips eyes searched the man’s face and realised how serious he’d become. “What?”
“Don’t play a fool with me. I saw how you looked at her.” Malcolm let go of his arm and took a step away from the man.
“I-” Trip let out a small laugh as he looked to the ground before looking back at the man. Had he really been that obvious? “I won’t deny that I like your sister. But I can promise you I have no intention of hurting her and would never made a move unless I was certain she felt the same.”
Malcolm nodded and let out a breath “Alright, but if you do. You’ll know what’ll happen.
“I have no doubt you’ll make it the most painful thing I have ever endured.”
Malcolm could feel a small smile pulling at his lips. “I’m sorry. She’s just my sister and-”
“No need. I’d feel the same.” a wave of sadness ran through him for a second until Malcolms hand came into contact with his shoulder.
“Dinner in fifteen? I’ll go let Y/N know”
Trip nodded and let a laugh leave his body “I’ve already invited Y/N so she’ll be meeting us down there once she’s settled in.”
Malcolm rolled his eyes and let out an amused sigh “Of course you have. You head down and I’ll just let her know what we’re doing.” he began to move away from the man, back down the corridor towards your quarters
“You sure you’re not going to warn her about me?” Trip teased.
“Don’t tempt me.” the man called over his shoulder.
Trip smiled and began to walk in the opposite direction. Although he didn’t want to get on the wrong side of Malcolm he couldn’t wait to spend some more time with you.

Black hat research - the black death/plague
Tumblr media
okay first thing first... fleas are insects they have met the criteria :3
Plague is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis, a zoonotic bacteria, usually found in small mammals and their fleas. It is transmitted between animals through fleas. Humans can be infected through:
the bite of infected vector fleas
unprotected contact with infectious bodily fluids or contaminated materials
the inhalation of respiratory droplets/small particles from a patient with pneumonic plague.
Plague is a very severe disease in people, particularly in its septicaemic (systemic infection caused by circulating bacteria in bloodstream) and pneumonic forms, with a case-fatality ratio of 30% to 100% if left untreated. The pneumonic form is invariably fatal unless treated early. It is especially contagious and can trigger severe epidemics through person-to-person contact via droplets in the air.
Historically, plague was responsible for widespread pandemics with high mortality. It was known as the "Black Death" during the fourteenth century, causing more than 50 million deaths in Europe. Nowadays, plague is easily treated with antibiotics and the use of standard precautions to prevent acquiring infection.
There are two main forms of plague infection, depending on the route of infection: bubonic and pneumonic.
Bubonic plague is the most common form of plague and is caused by the bite of an infected flea. Plague bacillus, Y. pestis, enters at the bite and travels through the lymphatic system to the nearest lymph node where it replicates itself. The lymph node then becomes inflamed, tense, and painful, and is called a ‘bubo’. At advanced stages of the infection, the inflamed lymph nodes can turn into open sores filled with pus. Human-to-human transmission of bubonic plague is rare. Bubonic plague can advance and spread to the lungs, which is the more severe type of plague called pneumonic plague.
Pneumonic plague, or lung-based plague, is the most virulent form of plague. Incubation can be as short as 24 hours. Any person with pneumonic plague may transmit the disease via droplets to other humans. Untreated pneumonic plague, if not diagnosed and treated early, can be fatal. However, recovery rates are high if detected and treated in time (within 24 hours of onset of symptoms).
Plague. Fleas are the vector for the plague (or black death), which infects man as well as rats and other rodents. There are three forms of plague that occur in humans: bubonic, pneumonic, and septicemic. The bubonic type, in the form of the bacterium, Yersina pestis, is transmitted by fleas. The disease is passed as fleas regurgitate plague bacilli when biting when flea feces are scratched into the skin, or when the host ingests an infected flea. The plague has killed millions of people in history, especially in the 14th and 17th centuries. In 14th-century Europe, the great pandemic resulted in twenty-five million deaths. The plague is still a problem to society, with some 5,000 cases annually.

Cause and outbreak
Having originated in China and Inner Asia, the Black Death decimated the army of the Kipchak Khan Janibeg while he was besieging the Genoese trading port of Kaffa (now Feodosiya) in Crimea (1347). With his forces disintegrating, Janibeg used trebuchets to catapult plague-infested corpses into the town to infect his enemies. From Kaffa, Genoese ships carried the epidemic westward to Mediterranean ports, whence it spread inland, affecting Sicily (1347); North Africa, mainland Italy, Spain, and France (1348); and Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Germany, and the Low Countries (1349). A ship from Calais carried the plague to Melcombe Regis, Dorset, in August 1348. It reached Bristol almost immediately and spread rapidly throughout the southwestern counties of England. London suffered most violently between February and May 1349, East Anglia and Yorkshire during that summer. The Black Death reached the extreme north of England, Scotland, Scandinavia, and the Baltic countries in 1350.
There were recurrences of the plague in 1361–63, 1369–71, 1374–75, 1390, and 1400. Modern research has suggested that, over that period of time, the plague was introduced into Europe multiple times, coming along trade routes in waves from Central Asia as a result of climate fluctuations that affected populations of rodents infested with plague-carrying fleas.

Adventure: Lights out at Burlnoct manor
Fan of the blog @alukardtheabysswalker was in need of an adventure involving a haunted house, and recently asked me about my process of creating adventure prompts. I figured why not do both at once, and show my work as I built this tale of terror brick by spooky brick? Today I’ll be posting the initial adventure prompt itself, and tomorrow I’ll show you the breakdown.
 Adventure Hooks
Looming on a hill high above the town, Burlnoct manor’s reputation for hauntings has scared away many a potential visitor, including most the newly appointed baron who recently came into possession of it. With the Baron absent, there’s no one to pay for patrols along the roads, and the threat of bandit incursions quickly poses more danger to the settlement than a haunted building ever could The town elders have convened, and have hired the party to exorcise the spirits so that their overlord may return and resume his feudal duties.
Hearing tell of the many ghoststories surrounding Burlnoct manor, an influential cleric offers to supply the party with talismans of protections and holy oils if they were to put the spirits to rest. More specificity, this cleric worships a god of cleansing fire, and the holy oil is to act as an accelerant as the players perform an act of cleansing, holy arson.During their exploration of the manor however, they find deeds of ownership, and now must decide between torching the structure, or setting themselves up as the lords of a derelict estate.
Some weeks ago an advertisement appeared on the town notice board, looking for a few new servants and some hardworking youths to come up to the manor to help in cleaning it and preparing it for its new owner. All in town had heard that there was to be someone moving in to the long abandoned estate, and plenty of potential applicants made the climb up the long disused road to the manor gate. No one who went the first day has yet returned.  When the party investigates, they find the missing villagers in a tizzy, forced into work by the tyrannical but absentminded ghost of the castle butler. This specter has pressganged all the peasants into work, but seems to be making little progress vs the army of mess making poltergeists that have vexed him since the manor was originally abandoned.
Setup: Burlnoct manor might’ve been like any other aged noble estate, passing gracefully into obsolescence, if not for the ceaseless curiosity of a morbid youth by the name of Melcomb Rains.   Young master Rains was the third child of the Rains family, a sickly child who’s many run-ins with nearly fatal illness left him with a fascination with the macabre, and a disgust for the frailty of the human body.
As he grew into adulthood, the family indulged his obsessions and supplied him with whatever esoteric tomes or artifacts his “studies” required. Small experiments with the dark arts uncovered his natrural predilection for necromancy, and before too long Malcomb was reanimating vivisected animals, and putting minor curses on whichever servants annoyed him that week.
Increasingly unpleasant to be around, the rest of the rains family began to spend more time in town, leaving their homebody heretic to hermit himself in the manor and to be cared for by the terrified servants. This luxury spared them from the worst of Malcomb’s abuses, and his inevitable forays into lichdom, a series of trials that would see him desecrate his home to its foundations and psychically scar the manor itself with the torments he inflicted on his servants.
It’s been nearly forty years since the Rains abandoned Burlnoct Manor: With his transformation complete, Malcomb left to peruse further blasphemous knowledge, and his thoroughly alienated family wrote off the estate as a place of happy memories that must never be talked about in polite company.
Further Adventures:
Malcomb’s transformation scarred the land so deeply that it carved a portal to the shadowfell in the house’s deepest cellars, through which hungry spirits and other haunts occasionally creep. While it may allow the party to transport to the underworld, if not properly sealed, they may find the now ascendant Magus Rains popping by to his old stomping grounds to pick up a thoroughly cursed keepsake he left behind.
