How do the boys end up taking care of Mei? She has parents, AND they're rich enough to afford a dedicated nanny rather than leave her with a bunch of randos at a noodle shop. No shade to them, but I just don't think a restaurant is the first place I'd go for child care.

The situation with Mei is... complicated.

Macaque and Wukong run into the Long/Dragon parents on accident early on. Mrs Long was heavily pregnant at the time, and started chatting with Macaque as they waited in the same (supernatural) doctor's office. Wukong takes one look at the couple and ID's one of them as being related to Ao Lie. Wukong is sentimental and *may* have blown his cover a little to the Long couple whilst talking about his old stable buddy.

The Long couple are both delighted to meet someone that knew their predecessor, but also nervous cus; Wait, is that The Monkey King? And he's having a baby too!?

Tense teatimes are had.

Then the Long baby is born.

And neither monkey understand why the Long couple are disappointed. ("Whats wrong with a little girl? She's perfect.")

Little Xiaojiao is born perfectly healthy. A light dusting of green scales develop over her skin. Tiny nubs of what will become antlers poke through her scalp.

And the fingerprint of a primordial fire raging within her.

Wukong *knows* the second he sees her, that little Mei (he called her a little plum due to her scrunched up newborn face) is carrying the Samadhi fire. And he vows to protect her at all costs. The Long couple offer that he and Macaque become Mei's godparents - being the strongest individuals they know. They accept.

Macaque and Wukong frequently babysit little Mei at the Long's household. She's given the same luxuries as a little princess, but all she wants is to be held by them. The monkey couple notice a significant... lack of interest on the Long couple's part in their own daughter. And the Monkey King is known for hoarding treasures he deems unappriciated...

Far later on; something terrible happens to the Long family. Something caused by an individual who sensed the Samadhi fire sleeping in her crib, and wanted to steal her and all the treasures within the museum of a home. By the end of the night, Little Mei ends up living with her godparents.

It takes Pigsy a few days to realise that the little green-clad baby girl has been staying over multiple nights in a row. He tries to protest, but he ends up wrapped around Mei's tiny dragon-hooved finger.

Tang freaks out a little, cus while he knows that decendants of dragons exist; he's never seen a baby dragon before. Mei quickly wins him over too when she tries affectionately biting him with her gummy maw.

Sandy is completely taken by surprise when he meets her. He thought he had at least a few more months before he became an uncle! Luckily it takes very little for the sleepy baby dragon to make him absolutely adore her.

Mei develops an understanding that while she isn't with her birth family anymore, that she's very much loved where she is. And when her adoptive siblings needs company, she's always there. She does wonder why big brother Nezha and Baba cry sometimes when they hold her though.

I hope that explains enough without spoiling too much.

Oh imagine Iron Fan meeting the triplets-

She didn't really believe her husband or her son when they told her that Wukong had three babies because she really can't believe Wukong wouldn't figure out that donating dao= actual babies.

Then the family is released from the scroll of memory by a very concerned Xiaotian and Xiaojiao, Wukong, and three small babies. Thunder, the shyest one, reaches out first to meet his aunt.

Iron Fan hadn't been around during New Years to meet the triplets like her boys had. When her husband rushed home (son in tow) and told her that Sun Wukong had three very young cubs, PIF was intrigued.

Her first question was obvious: Whom was responsible?

DBK, trying not to laugh: "You would not believe me if I told you." PIF, smirking as she sips tea: "I am rarely surprised." DBK: "The Macaque." PIF, teacup rattles slightly: "...I will admit, that is surprising. But I thought Macaque had long since past?" DBK: "It appears that our late brother left behind three pieces of his soul on Flower Fruit Mountain to guard his effects. After his passing, Brother Wukong could not bear parting with the shadows of his mate - and began pouring his own life energy into them." PIF, understanding: "Ah. Supplying the Yang to the Yin. No wonder. I would have done the same if you had left shadows of your own." DBK, chuckling: "He certainly hadn't known that when they formed!" PIF, suppressing a laugh: "Pardon?!"

Red Son supplies photographic proof (shared by Mei) of the shadowy monkey cubs playing with Noodle Boy on the airship, and reuniting with their "Mother" Sun Wukong once freed. Little dark fluffy things with red markings on their faces, and gleaming red-orange eyes.

PIF: "That one in his arms... they are smaller than their siblings." DBK: "Wukong explained that he had not known of the third shadow until the elder two had fully formed. It was still too underdeveloped to separate from him when he had been captured." PIF, sympathetic: "Oh, poor dear... I hope you scolded him for putting himself and his baby in danger!" DBK: "You know I did. Although I had been distracted at the time - the littlest one had chosen that moment to finally break away from his parent and exist in this plane!" PIF, adoring: "Aww."

Having birthed a child with special needs herself, Iron Fan feels a kinship with the smallest of Wukong' children.

She doesn't manage to meet them until her release from the Scroll in S4. The Macaque had apparently been revived, and even under threat of his new master, had ensured his cubs and mate were kept safely together.

(*the Demon Bull Family are released from their Scrolls*) DBK, shuddering: "I did not care for those 500 years under that mountain. But at least I relived falling in love with you all over again." PIF, light blush: "My hopeless romantic." MK, sighs with relief: "Whew! Glad we didn't have to drag you guys out of a memory or anything." Mei, hugging Red Son: "Well except for ol' Red Boy here. He was so cute as a baby!" Red Son, embarrassed: "I was running around naked, setting the countryside ablaze!" DBK & PIF: (*"Aww" as they remember*) Mei: "Case in point; totes adorbs." Red Son: (*grumbling*) Wukong, holding a cub: "I'm just glad all of you are okay. Azure did not make it easy for us." Macaque, carrying the other two cubs: "Especially since the cubs tried to join in the fight." (*baby-talking to the cubs*) "Yes you did! You tried biting Peng's tail feathers off. Yes you did! You wanted to be like your Baba and fight the mean birdie!" Rumble & Savage: (*happily babbling chirps!*) PIF & DBK: (*looks at the scene with a mixture of adoring and sadness*) Thunder: (*silently hops out of Wukong's arms and toddles towards the Princess*) Thunder, holding up arms: "AH!" PIF, stunned: "...pardon?" Wukong, knowing smile: "He means Up. Thunder has been exercising getting farther away from me. He wants you to pick him up so he can properly say Hi." PIF: (*looking down at the cub, she silently lifts him into her arms. The tiny hands reaching up to inspect her horned hairstyle ala Maleficent 2014*) Thunder, amazed: "Ah!" PIF, smile slowly forming: "Hello little one. I've heard much about you." Thunder: (*sniffing her face and nuzzling against her cheek, making happy chirping sounds*) PIF: (*silent tears forming. She would fight Heaven for this baby*)

She about to ask Bull to try for another baby, cus gotdamn Wukong and Macaque's brood make her want at least three more.

10 years of art school led me to this exact moment. I was carved out of a rock and destined to draw a comic about 2 gay monkeys from a lego show in which climax is the song from the 2004 movie hit Shrek 2 “Holding out for a hero” by Jennifer Saunders.

I like to think that even though the relationship isn't as close, MK has still accidentally called Pigsy 'Dadsy' once before (like calling a teacher mom)

And Tang, Mei, etc, teased them to the point of it becoming a small inside joke, much to MK and Pigsy's embarrassment/annoyance. (And wukongs jealousy if he finds out)

Hmmm I think MK would be more likely to call Pigsy "Dad" but in the sarcastic teenager way of an adult nagging teen about something and they go "Okay, Dad"

MK's a little too old to slip up with something as specific as "Dadsy" unless it's a joke and sees Pigsy as more of a friend than anything else

But this does start a teasing war with everyone referring to Pigsy as Dad whenever he starts nagging them about not eating enough or getting into too much trouble,,, mans just wants them to stop getting into life or death situations every week😭😭

(If your scenario happened, Wukong would have Pigsy sleeping with one eye open if he hadn't met the guy before, but since it's a joke it's all fineeee😁)

What if the wasnt Wukong’s shame temple? What if some demon ordered food so they could eat MK? We haven’t really seen the consequences of MK’s identity being so public, what if that’s because Wukong’s had beaten up demons who tried to use his family and friends against him directly? That would be hilarious.

I think this is further solidified by Macaques behavior in his episode, he doesn’t seem to initially care about MK, when MK falls he walks away and is visibly surprised when MK appears in front of him, then he sees the staff and keeps a straight face, deciding his plan seemingly around then. He didn’t know about MK and therefore Wukong didn’t know he knew and didn’t seek him out to stop him. Yes Wukong sees Macaques symbol on his jacket but he knows that by then, Macaque was already in MKs head, and if he stopped him, MK would see it differently and possibly see Wukong as the enemy. Wukong and Macaque play 4D chess constantly.
