Beginning eight months ago as a passion project between fans wanting an independent and factual wiki for the Megami Tensei franchise, we have been hard at work developing the site and its necessary foundations since its initial announcement on Twitter. Now, we are thrilled to finally open to the public!

We are a wholly new and independent wiki dedicated to covering the incredibly vast Megami Tensei (MegaTen) franchise created by Atlus, including Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, Devil Summoner, and more! Seeing the "Rainbow YHVH" lie, I was reminded of how someone decided to basically write fanfiction on the Megaten Wiki about CARD SUMMONER of all things (don't know how well-known that is though).

In short, they renamed the Protagonist "Yuuji Kino", gave him a sister who turns evil and a sort of "Heroine/Law Hero" girl who fucking dies if you don't save her. Also, they claimed the game had 3 chapters and had alignments with Metatron and Lucifer making an appearance (of course, with 3 endings corresponding to each alignment in a "post-game" of sorts). And the Neutral rep would've been some dude who defeated protag's sister and basically kicked off the plot. Also also, Devil Busters appeared. Sort of.

This has also sorta happened with Hazama's Chapter, but I'm not gonna bore anyone with that. I kinda find it interesting though - especially if you consider the Card Summoner lie stayed up on the wiki for SEVEN years before someone noticed and deleted it (but you can still see some files named "Yuuji Kino" that stayed up on the pages).

lol (perhaps obviously) despite joking so cagily about it a few times now, I actually HAVE found myself. rather unwittingly. brainblasting up a slew of concepts for what exactly is going on with everyone inside of the were-shadow mitsuru au-of-an-au--haha, the "weird route", to borrow the deltarune terminology, if you will. this is somehow the single most embarrassing indulgence I've allowed myself to confess on this blog so far; like sure whatever i'll put all my strangest kinks on blast to a legion of faceless strangers, but a twice-removed-from-canon au?? OOHHHHHH NOOOO.....HOW PERISHINGLY CRINGE..........!!!!! but whatever, my stated goal here is to have fun. AND I'M HAVING FUN!!!

once again, my framing idea here is that this is an alternate timeline that (after the mainline events of the game/The Answer and Arena resolve) Yukari from the alpha were-shadow timeline gets stuck in--thanks to Velvet Room fuckery?? I suppose--a timeline that is marked by her absence. Everything's sort of sad and bleak and I don't have any particularly good answers about how events transpire, let alone "happy endings", but I'm having a looooottttta fun thinking about this version of SEES. more thoughts under cut:

-since Yukari was never born in this universe, our version of Eiichiro here is a comparatively unmoored man; deeply ideologically opposed to the plot w/in Kirijo to bring about The Fall all the same and absolutely desperate and unscrupulous in what he'd do to stop them; a man pushed to his moral limit in his resolve to subvert his employers. his sabotage of the Shadow experiment this time is at least partially engineered to trap and kill Ikutsuki in the ensuing explosion--which it successfully does--and an injured Eiichiro himself actually escapes from the wreckage and follows Aigis to the Moonlight Bridge. he observes her seal Death within a child, waits for her guard to lower, and kills that child and himself in quick succession in a murder-suicide. I think this has essentially the same effect that killing Ryoji does in canon: buying time (and a longer timeframe at that, since Death was considerably weakened and trapped within the frail body of a human child at this point.) whatever remnants of Death are scattered elsewhere along with the other 12 shadows, but their reformation into the Appraiser is still an inevitability (which I think would form the main crux of Plot Events once the arc of this AU get rolling) and said Appraiser is NOT as nice of a guy as Ryoji this time around.

-so yeah. our Hero is fucking dead. and also. our Hero? is fucking Minato. LMAO. YEAH...IM SORRY MY GUY... I'm normally kinda ambivalent about what the nature of the connection between him and Kotone/Hamuko is (are they parallel selves? are they twins? whatever), but for the sake of this universe--they're twins. and kotone? she's fine. aside from the total party kill of her entire family (very Ari Aster-esque) she is like. living a completely normal life EHSLGHLAKSHGS. (and no i don't have a good explanation as to why her parents and her brother were all in the car together without her, they were fuckinnnnnggggg....picking her up from junior field hockey practice......in the middle of the night........) no Death sealed inside of her, no Thanatos or Wild Card powers, and has yet to ever step foot again in Port Island by this point in the story. (though I DO still think she has the Persona potential, just unawakened.) and her current job.......is.......playing Feather Pink on tv. (yukari: SHE STOOOOOOOOOLLEEEEE MY FUCKING JOOBBBBBBBBBBB???!??!??!?) Yukari is like THAT FUCKING GIRL ON TV, THAT'S HER, THAT'S THE PERSON WE NEED TO SET THIS RIGHT, WE HAVE TO FIND HER, and I'm kinda obsessed with the idea that this IS true, even in a universe where there's nothing particularly Special about Kotone--it's her personality and leadership that guided everyone to success, not her powers or destiny!! although convincing her "hey you once died for us, could you do it again??" is going to be a PARTICULARLY rough sell in this world.

-Mitsuru was transformed exceptionally early during this timeline in her early forays into Tartarus (before even hitting her teens, probably) and every aspect of her life has been a total fucking mess thereafter--basically everything about her "trapped in an ivory tower simultaneously as the precious scion of her family name but also their weird shameful little experiment/weapon whose power they are relying on despite the hand-wringing about how Wrong it all is" existence cranked to 11. i do think her parents are trying to do right by her, or at least they BELIEVE that they are, and Takeharu in particular agonizes over her feeling like she has a choice in the matter, but the idea of that is kind of laughable when the stakes are "destroying Tartarus for us is the only thing that can recover your lost HUMANITY, sorry about that." she's a complete recluse, possibly was private tutored? i mean there's no reason why she COULDN'T go to school in the daytime other than the days around the full moon lol but i think she is just a damn near hikikomori from how alienated her experiences and situation have made her--an apologetically pampered and doted upon one, but a hikikomori nonetheless. very much like the Beast of her sad little Beauty and the Beast world here; trapped in her lonely mansion, subjected to a constant barrage of experiments and tests to try to "cure" her with no end in sight, existing as this painful brand of shame on her family whose words and actions only seem to reinforce in her: "don't go out, don't talk to Normal People, they'll know what we did to you, and no one can Know." Aki and Shinji are essentially her only two outlets of meaningful human connection, but their triad and Tartarus expeditions have more or less disbanded due to Events prior to Yukari's arrival in this world. that's left her in this holding pattern of simply aimlessly coping with Tartarus and the Dark Hour's continued existence (again, no one's aware of the inevitability of Death/The Appraiser's return, and after the tremendous failure of these three kids, the silent consensus among the Kirijo Group is pretty much that it's their permanent stain on this world to accept, they're out of options) while basically feeling like it's some cosmic curse to torment her and her alone for the crime of being born into this lineage.

-Akihiko lost his arm below the elbow in Tartarus, effectively ending the senpai trio as a working team. he's actually pretty grounded about it, and continues to be the primary force that stops Mitsuru from losing herself inside of her own head--although he feels like his returns are diminishing and he's losing her nonetheless. his life got pretty shaken up from losing his fast track to star boxer success, but unlike Mitsuru, he was able to (perhaps surprisingly) cope and restructure his life after such a drastic change, fueling his need to hold onto that hope for her as well. the passion and primary centering force of his life has become a different sport that he can perform (an adapted version of) as a transradial amputee--capoeira!! also kinda toying with some potentially fun linkage here to another otherwise kinda unrelated hc I've been nursing of Junpei being dekasegi (2nd or 3rd gen child of Japanese-Brazilian immigrants/repatriates.)

-Shinji has primarily taken on the psychic burden of the guilt of Akihiko's injury (i mean. Mitsuru also will find a way to self-flagellate for this but Shinji even moooooore so) and given into those even worse avoidant tendencies as a result. Bounced from the team before ever encountering Ken and his mom, so she's actually in somewhat BETTER psychological shape in that regard lol, but she's pretty much AWOL. and yes :)))))) i am saying "she" :))) because :))))))) there is at least ONE thing she figures out for herself earlier in this au. hee hee hee hee.

-Junpei is just. normal. LMFAO. normal, but the adrift and bored version of him we'd see if he never figured out what to do with himself, bumming around Port Island with no plans or prospects. he is, of course, the first person Yukari meets and is able to convince with the crazy shit she's spouting--especially because his Dark Hour potential is still here, his very own crazy thing he's been sitting on, afraid to tell anyone. "HEY JUNPEI are you shaking on the floor of your bedroom every night because time apparently stops for an hour and everyone's become a coffin and the streets run with blood until they suddenly don't and it all snaps back to normal, like nothing even happened?? yeah i thought so ^o^ let's get you to wuck burger" AND [COVERS MY FACE] OK HERE IS THE SHREK 4 REFERENCE I SWORE I WASN'T GOING TO MAKE. YOU KNOW HOW ALPHA TIMELINE SHREK IS ABLE TO ENTRANCE AU DONKEY BY REGALING HIM WITH TALES OF HIS SEXY DRAGON WIFE FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSE........... YEAH...... "wait wait wait tell me MORE about this insane demon monster girl who you say is in love with me?? she's HOW tall???????"

-Aigis, Ken, Fuuka and Koromaru I'm all kinda the least sure about...after failing to protect the child who she'd imminently endangered, I think Aigis basically suffered a Catastrophic Malfunction (robot PTSD) and has been decommissioned and in storage in Yakushima alongside Labrys ever since. they wake her up and she's going to be soooooooo sexy and emo.......with his mom alive and well, Ken is probably living something of a "golden child" life (though stressful and unfulfilling in its own way), Fuuka i'm completely unsure about (so unsure i had to edit in this in a frantic haze after the fact because I realized I'd forgotten any mention of her my original post I'M SORRY FUUKA), and Koromaru is......well he's a dog. I'm sure things are working out fine no matter how hard his life gets LMAO (was kind of thinking he'd be coincidentally adopted from an ordinary-ass shelter by one of the other SEES members after his master's death, though I have no idea who'd be the best/funniest.)

He finally manages to hunt down the error Kirijo had pointed out and wrangle the equation into submission. Which means he can– for now at least– put math behind him, where it belongs.

He pushes the worksheets towards Kirijo and rolls out his wrists and shoulders while she shuffles them into order and tucks them neatly away. She immediately produces a new stack of paper, flourishing a little like she’s doing some kind of magic trick. And hell, maybe she is– he’s got no idea how she never seems to run out of fresh work to throw at him.

Shinjiro can only sigh in defeat. He did ask for this, after all.

Okay, so not nearly as bad as it could be. That might explain her little burst of showmanship, actually, if she’s presenting him with something that might have a chance to be interesting.

He’s joking, mostly, but Kirijo sighs with real disappointment.

He takes the packet from her and starts to read– it’s mostly about the political pissing contests of various Roman emperors. Not as exciting as he’d hoped; he’s always been interested in what regular people were up to more than anyone who lived in a palace, but he’ll definitely still take it over math. 

As he gets to work, Shinjiro finds himself dwelling on how nice it is, having their verbal fencing matches again. 

Back when S.E.E.S had been brand new, he’d found it incredibly annoying how Kirijo always seemed to have a prim and witty response to anything he might say. He'd thought at first that she just couldn’t stand for anyone else to get the last word, then that she couldn’t stand to let him, specifically, have it. 

It had taken him an embarrassingly long amount of time to clue in to the fact that that was just how she played. Sure, he and Aki bickered for fun more than a little often, but usually as more of a lead-up to a good, hands-on scrap. For Kirijo, though, trading banter back and forth was the whole entire game.

Once he’d figured out that he was supposed to play along, chasing after the upper hand in a conversation became fun instead of frustrating. Knowing that it was always a toss-up whether his teasing would get deftly parried or if he could manage to land the hit and fluster her enough to disrupt her pristine image– it was all part of the game to him. 

He’d tried not to let himself settle into that rhythm again when he’d come back to the dorms, and he’d done an even worse job of it than he had of avoiding his other old habits. Kirijo’s just too good at pushing his buttons, just like Aki. 

But now– Now that he doesn’t feel the need to keep himself at arm’s length anymore, falling right back into step is the easiest damn thing in the world. He doesn’t even need to think about it.

It feels good to have this back. Living his life, whatever’s left of it, means building connections and rebuilding the ones he had purposefully bulldozed before. He’s lucky Kirijo is even giving him a second chance at friendship at all, so he’s not about to waste it. 

There’s absolutely no way he’ll ever say that out loud, though. Especially not to her. 

“Given you’re reading about Rome, that reminds me.” Her voice is a little too light and airy. Someone who hadn’t been on the scheming end of that tone before might have missed it, but Shinjiro can tell right away that she’s trying to get something out of him. 

“Akihiko mentioned that you found his second awakening to be quite amusing,” she continues.

“Yeah, Aki didn’t get it,” he snorts, unable to help himself. “Bet you did, though.”

“There is a certain irony present, yes.” The face she puts on is demure, but the way she flicks a little of her hair over her shoulder looks suspiciously like preening to him. He has to squash down a smile. “You could have filled him in yourself, you know.”

“Sure. But where’d the fun in that be?” The grin he was fighting off wins and Kirijo lowers herself enough to roll her eyes at him in response.

“Yamagishi’s new Persona is Roman as well,” she tries again, casting another line. “Juno.” When he laughs, she frowns at him, apparently not a fan of his reaction. “What’s so funny, Aragaki?”

“Nothin’ at Yamagishi’s expense,” he says. “I just wouldn’t’ve guessed that for her. The whole ‘queen of the gods’ thing would’ve made me think of you, actually.”

Kirijo clears her throat a bit and pointedly does not preen again, just like how he does not feel stupidly pleased with himself over the reaction that she definitely didn’t have.

“Guess it does make sense though," he continues. "If you think about the whole ‘eyes of Argus’ thing. She have peacock feathers?”

“After a fashion, yes.” Kirijo purses her lips thoughtfully. “They are… somewhat abstracted.”

“Well yeah. Almost wouldn’t be a Persona if it didn’t get a little weird with the details, right?”

“No, I suppose it wouldn’t.” She flashes another short-lived smile and then goes back to looking thoughtful. He can practically hear gears turning as she weighs whether or not to make another attempt. “Amada’s was something of a surprise. She's called Kala-Nemi.”

He wracks his brain and comes up empty. “Don’t recognize that one. Doesn’t sound like a Roman name, though.”

“I was unfamiliar as well. And you’re correct– she’s from Bronze Age India, from a tradition that predates Hinduism. It took quite a bit of effort to find any information about her, actually. She shares her name with two other male figures from Hindu texts, and references to them are far more plentiful. From what I understand, though, she was a spirit associated with the Wheel of Time and the changing of the seasons. 

“As a Persona, she excels in healing and protection magic. The new Theurgy Amada gained from awakening to her is– it’s extraordinary.” The way Kirijo says the word makes it clear that it’s a gigantic understatement.

Healing and protection, huh? 

“That’s better for him,” Shinjiro says softly. The image of Amada from the other day, hunkered in on himself with guilt and nerves, is still fresh in his mind.

“It is,” Kirijo murmurs. She’s silent for another few seconds, clearly hoping that he’ll take his cue at last. 

And sure, he could talk about his new Persona, like she’s been nudging him to. He could also speculate about whether he’s got his own new Theurgy. But what would be the point? The next full moon is just four days away, and then none of it is going to matter anymore.

Kirijo sighs, accepting defeat. “Pardon me for distracting you from your reading. I’ll let you get back to it.”

“No worries.” He means it, too. Kirijo might push, but unlike Aki, she does know when to call it quits.

It’s yet another thing Shinjiro appreciates about her.

Sleepy question~~ I think from that one OVA I’ve posted before that right at the beginning, someone was generating magnetite to summon a demon or something ~~

Is it just huge catastrophes and strong emotions from that that generate magnetite?

The wiki says that humans are a really good source of it~~ so our bodies generate it? Or is that only if we die?

Do emotions in general generate it? Like someone with anxiety or depression having more magnetite than other people without mental health stuff?

Or am I off base as to how magnetite works??

TLDR: do people with mental health issues generate more mag than ‘normal’ people? Or is it just big catastrophes that do that?

THIS WAS SO FUNNY... honestly i don't think i give enough credit to akihiko and mitsuru's dynamic they're literally so good i really enjoy how well they know each other but also they're like.. a constant in each other's life and i do enjoy their interactions a lot even if i never vocalize it...

wow yosuke, who would've thought that you two are partners, this guy literally introduced himself as your wife /s (i kinda regret naming souji yosuke wifey but im glad i wrote the y in lowercase bc otherwise i wouldn't be able to tell their dialogue apart 💀

ok unfortunately i can't say that im going to go AS INSANE as i did last time when i was spitballing in the tags for the second pq posting just because i feel like i aired out most of my "AAAA WHO IS ZEN AND REI??" there but.

i do have to say that i'm very glad i'm at the point where p3 and p4's casts are able to interact! i can't tell if it's because the writing feels like it shines a little bit better here rather than the solo casts (sometimes i roll my eyes at how junpei and akihiko are with some of the traits the writers play up), or if it's because i'm a guy who's very endeared by crossovers and interactions from characters who didn't exist in the original source material.

i had a lot of times where i was writing things down in my notes software during the crossover segments and im just?? really endeared and creatively inspired by it, to be honest. i really like this aspect of pq.

i think something that catches my interest with zen and rei at the moment is the difference in how they're.. regaining their memories. like... it's interesting to me that zen is able to get some of his memories back from the stuffed rabbit marked with "niko," but rei doesn't. i don't really know how much i can speculate off of this atm (i feel like this is something i'd get more info on when i progress through the second labyrinth, or it's something i'm missing out on because i can't use intertextuality to piece things together. i dont know shit about alice in wonderland.)

like it does make me think that maybe these two are like.. separate entities in that respect (rather than a shared one? but i could be wrong, and i welcome that!). but also there's something that makes my brain go "AAA" about how adamant zen is about wanting to protect rei despite not having any memories, because my brains like "WELL WHAT IF ZEN'S TRUE IDENTITIES AND MEMORIES ARE ACTUALLY THE OPPOSITE, AND DON'T WANT GOOD THINGS FOR REI." poorly phrased but like, it's about the irony, y'know.

i have no fucking clue what rei is supposed to be if we're going under the notion that they're two different things that have lost their memory (she is so head empty only food and its precious tbh). but like my brain just thinks that zen is just... going to end up being some awful incarnation or something like idk. there's something about persona characters with amnesia that make me raise my eyebrow... like just look at ryoji and marie and teddie...

and i guess as another thought on the matter, the way zen and rei work mechanically speaking does make me ponder a bit because like.. obviously, yeah, they can't equip a subpersona because they're... GESTURES. not persona users but FUCK, the way zen and rei have very distinct skillsets just make me wonder if those can allude to what they symbolize. like zen's skills are much more.. destructive and im just like (AIGIS VOICE) "YOU ARE DANGEROUS."

anyways. i am very much invested in the identities of zen and rei but i am also glad that the crossover stuff is here too because i think the sillies will keep me inspired... and also im just happy to see yosuke... i really like yosuke even if i forget that i do a lot of the time..

last thought, after seeing souji talk and move, i think i'd definitely want to look into p4 side... because um. 🥴 i'm really simple guy. i need more minato in my life. (everyone rolls their eyes. i'm predictable!) i want to see minato move and talk. i want to think about him. he's my boyfriend. he's my wife. he's my universe. im being so cringe about him but I DONT THINK THIS IS A SURPRISE TO ANYONE... i like him a lot (NO SHIT, LIZZ). but!!! idk if this'll be something that i watch or play, it depends on what the NG+ functionality in this game is like...

Any news on the efforts to evacuate the Megaten Wiki from FANDOM?

No idea! It's a real undertaking, and I'm not sure whether they've retained all the hands that were on board at the beginning. If there's enough of an interest then hopefully something will materialize sooner or later.

I feel like if the localization team went with Ted saying stuff like “stud hunting” and “ picking up guys” instead of “score”, it would have helped his general reception in the fandom.

I feel like the manga and anime adaptations translated him pretty well.
