It's national bullying prevention month and people who bullies others don’t realize that they can only push the victim so far where they don’t know who to talk to (including people who are close to them), be around or even know what to do anymore. The more people who bullies others online, or in-person don’t know what can happen next. They can choose to change their ways and how to treat others or they don’t change and continue to harm and hurt others.
You never know what someone else is going through, what their home life is, and not even getting to know them and just assuming that they are better than you and judging them when you never got to really them for who they are.

Neighbors, there are some important updates regarding the Tory Lanez trial that might determine how the judge will rule tomorrow during his ruling.

According to Twitter’s favorite law reporter Meghann Cunniff, Tory’s defense had a lot of arguments for the judge and the prosecution. They argued that the original defense by Tory’s first lawyer was “ineffective” in the case. They claim the angle that Tory, Megan Thee Stallion, and Kylie were in an argument before the shooting played into the verdict.

Another shocking thing that his defense team argued is the fact that Megan brought up Tory’s video “CAP”, which featured Tory chopping up horse legs, hurt his defense and was irrelevant to the overall trial. They say that the horse in the video wasn’t described as being a “stallion”, despite “HGS” (hot girl sh*t) being in the background of the video.

I’m hoping tomorrow Judge Herriford lays it all out for the leprechaun. Especially with all of the stunts & theatrics he has pulled. Playing on social injustices, bringing his child to court, no regard for the victim’s feelings, etc.
I’ll elaborate on him showing no regard for the victim’s (Meg) feelings. Even if in his delusional mind he believes he did nothing wrong. Not once during these court appearances has shown any remorse. Just “me! me!”... There’s nothing indicating he has any care for others.(and considering his history of being violent and trying to blame everyone but himself he has never cared about anyone else)

I actually...just read about this on Twitter. And my heart breaks for this person. I really hope they don't give up.
I've said for nine months that this blind "callout culture" on Tumblr and Twitter is going to get someone killed. There was no other endpoint to this. I don't know how we have repackaged the kind of cyberbullying that gets kids like Megan Meier and Tyler Clementi to kill themselves--into justice. I genuinely am at a loss at this.
Somewhat of a tangent, but I'm watching a documentary called "Savior Complex" on HBOMax and it's fantastic. It's about Renee Bach, the idiot 19-year-old who went to Uganda believing she was sent by God to save them and was involved in treating Ugandan children medically, despite not having a medical degree.
And there's this organization that calls her out, called "NoWhiteSaviors", which started out as a really good thing! It brought attention to what this idiot woman was doing, it shut down her clinic, and it caught the attention of the Ugandan government and a Ugandan legal team, so they could explore options.
But now I'm hearing the Ugandan lawyer's frustration with the social media organization, how they got upset with her when she said she couldn't pursue a criminal case, it needed to be a civil case. They also got upset when a Ugandan mother insisted that Renee helped her child, got her to an expensive hospital, and paid the bill--but this organization went on to post a social media picture of that child's scars, accusing Renee of disfiguring them. (It's a very complicated situation, Renee was absolutely taking advantage of the community--but if the mother is not interested in accusing or suing Renee, you have to accept that, you can't manipulate them into outrage porn.)
It got to a point where the social media organization was more interested in profiting on spicy outrage instead of actually helping the Ugandan community that was affected by Renee's actions. The lawyer even remarked she didn't know WHAT #NoWhiteSaviors ultimate goal was in going after Renee.
They've lost the focus on what was originally a noble goal on dismantling Evangelicalism neocolonialist nonprofits in Uganda, to waging social media war on one person. However awful Renee is, how is this helping with the original goal?
I recognize this is an imperfect parallel. But I suppose I'm more mediating on "callouts" in general on the internet and if it is possible to have an ethical callout or if they just end up doing more harm than good.
We needed callouts to take down powerful men who were abusing women in Hollywood. This is what sparked #MeToo.
You know what we don't need callouts on? Stupid petty fandom drama. People drawing pictures of things that make you feel icky. People creating stories you don't like.
I'm rambling. But I'm tired, man.

Rachel Forsyth Named Michigan Runner News High School Athlete of the Year
We are resurrecting the Michigan Runner News High School Athlete of the Year. We first named a High School Runner of the Year in 2001, Dathan Ritzenhein (Rockford HS) and the last year the award was presented was 2015-6 to Noah Jacobs.
This year we will award just the 1 award, 2023-4 Michigan Runner News High School Athlete of the Year. Next year we hope to collect enough data to reasonably select awardees in Distance, Sprint/Hurdles, & Field. Please feel free to send nominations to Co-Editor Carter Sherline, [email protected]. as the Cross Country, Indoor (MITS), & Outdoor seasons progress for 2024-2025.
For the 2023-24 School Year Rachel Forsyth has been selected as Michigan Runner News High School Athlete of the Year. Rachel has had a stellar career running for Ann Arbor Pioneer HS. She was MHSAA D1 Cross Country Champion in 2021 and again her Senior year in 2023, blowing away the Event Record in 16:28.5. On the track Rachel won the MHSAA D1 2023 800m & 1600m then in 2024 won the 1600m along with winning the 3200m. She also contributed to Ann Arbor Pioneer HS winning the 3200m in 2023 and finishing in a close 2nd place to Holland West Ottawa (9:00.27 to 9:03.18) in 2024 where Rachel had the fastest split running the anchor leg in 2:09.40. On the national scene for 2023 Cross Country Rachel took 1st at the NXN Midwest Regionals & Foot Locker Midwest Regionals, then 5th at the Nike Cross Country Nationals Final & 3rd at the Foot Locker National Championships. More recently at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals she was 3rd in the Mile, at the Canadian U20 Championships 1st in the 1500m, and she brought home to Michigan the Silver Medal in the World Athletics Junior (U20) Championships in Lima, Peru representing her family’s homeland, Canada. Rachel comes from a family of great track athletes, both her parents and her sisters.
