i’m genuinely of the belief that the megamind sequel/tv show was meant to premiere on nickelodeon in like 2011 alongside their other spinoff shows, but then got shelved after the movie flopped financially and has been sitting around in some archive gathering dust until peacock decided to release it as “new content.”
like, can we just look at the visual evidence alone?

I waited 13 years for my favorite thing to get new stuff, only for the internet to tear it to shreds before it even came out. BOY do I have a rant for you. Like, 50+ pages of pent up anger, despair, confusion and disgust.
Link, complete with a chapter system: (here)
If there is enough request for an audio version of this I will also consider it, but for now I need it posted and done.
Rude comments will be deleted; I will block you for reasons I explain at the end of the file. You have your own blogs to be sharing your boring opinions on. I will NOT be arguing you on why you think it's okay to harass the writers, artists, and voice actors.

Just watched the trailer for the Megamind sequel.
God I’m so disappointed. It looks so bad. It looks like one of those crappy Disney made-for-video sequels.
Like, I’m not normally one to call a movie bad just based on a trailer, or the fact that it’s a sequel/remake. I usually like to give it a chance first. But this is just such blatant budget, low effort cash grab at the fact that the original movie got popular again in the last few years. It’s so clear that the budget is basically nothing.
Like the original had so much social commentary. It was smart. It had heart. It was a movie where if you critically analyse it, it actually addresses real issues, and this trailer for the new one is making it so obvious that it’s just gonna be another one mindless dumb kid movies that you put on the iPad to shut the kids up.
Gahhh it’s like 3am and I’m just so annoyed and disappointed about this.
Even the animation is shit. How is something brand new, made currently with all the modern technology we have today somehow worse than something that’s nearly fifteen years old? How the fuck did they manage to go so far backwards in quality? It’s obviously the minuscule budget

Megamind Rules / Megamind Vs The Doom Syndicate is NOT made by AI
Listen y'all what we're NOT going to do is make shit up and accuse the writers of Megamind Rules / Megamind Vs The Doom Syndicate of using AI to make the scripts. I've been following them on twitter since before the show was even announced; they are against AI as it directly impacts their livelihoods and there was an entire team of writers for the show/movie. Just because you don't like the concept or animation isn't enough reason to just blatantly lie; Brent Simons, Alan Schoolcraft, Eric Fogel, and the rest of the team for sure put their hearts into it. It's not their fault they got such a small budget that makes it look crunchy. The Doom Syndicate were also ALWAYS a concept that existed; they were enemies removed from the original film late enough that they're all over the Art Of book and the 2010 video games. And YES Megamind is isolated and awkward, but the existence of the Doom Syndicate in his past is NOT impossible by any means-- it is entirely possible to feel absolutely alone in a large group of people that make you feel inferior or unsafe. When he said in the movie "it was me and Minion against the world" what he means is Minion was his main support growing up. It would be impossible to have no adults in his life even isolated in a prison, and other villains would absolutely be trying to use his smarts to their advantage. Again, just because the animation is crunchy is no reason to just make shit up and blame the writers of using AI; perhaps the AI is picking up that plot because THIS CONCEPT ALWAYS EXISTED and has fueled countless fanfiction and fan rp blogs that said AI models stole from. :) Thanks for playing!

Speaking of Megamind, there is actually so much potential for a sequel. The city doesn't know that Megamind didn't actually kill Metroman, and honestly, the fact that Megamind was promoted to a Metrocity Hero so quickly after all that he had done is just weird. Imo people wouldn't accept him so soon, especially given that in their eyes, he *had* murdered someone, and someone big. Moreover, we did get his baby pacifier at the beginning, which looked very unique and powerful. Perhaps, in a sequel, they could've explored something about Megamind's background, what he actually was. I think Megamind could still teach the audience plenty of important lessons throughout the story, where we learn about his origins, and how it could impact the future.

Wait what?! Roxanne and Megamind arent even a couple?!?!
God why did they make the demographic audience for this franchise my students 😩😩😩?!?
Like i’m fine with them dating first before officially becoming boyfriend and girlfriend.
On the other hand… why not make them have a kid already and make their kid the star of this show? That would be a better option to make this franchise for kids officially!
