This was a great thrift find!

So for context: Book Off buys and sells lightly used toys (among many other things) and used to be a great place to find stuff.

But in the past few years, as they shifted focus to fandom and collectors in the US, their prices have gotten outrageous. Far above ebay in many cases.

But this Belial was an exception - $3usd! And he was in beautiful condition, just dumped unceremoniously in the sofubi bins.

Dating back to 2009, this is the very first Belial toy to hit the scene - from his debut in the "Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy" film.

And it's such a great toy. Wonderful hunched little pose, stocky and menacing. Gorgeous gradient paint on the eyes. And those claws!

In the years since we've had some wonderful high end Belial toys - but there's really something special about this first vinyl. He's got a ton of charm.

I remember when this movie first came out and people were waiting for subs that like

A lot of people weren’t sure if Zero was Seven’s son and like people on the forums I frequented treated is as this mystery

Even well after it had come out and Saga was getting magazine scan rumors and people thought it was tying into Fighting Evolution’s EX monsters

Zero being Ultraseven’s son was still always talked about as an element we just weren’t sure of

Like when I got back into Ultraman with Geed and it was offhandedly mentioned I had assumed it was a mystery that had dragged on for a couple of movies

So like coming at it now that is so easy to find, it is funny that it is blatantly said in like his second scene

Belyudra: The Largest Kaiju to Grace Live-Action Films

This morning, a burning question filled my mind as I awoke: "What's the largest Kaiju ever to grace a live-action film?" My quest for answers led me to some well-known contenders, but in second place, a peculiar name caught my eye: "Belyudra." Intrigued, I delved into the depths of the internet to discover that Belyudra is a remarkable entity within the Ultraman universe, making its grand appearance in the film "Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends."

Hence, my curiosity drove me to seek out this movie, and upon watching it, I was pleasantly surprised. Even though the film was released in 2009, the visuals held up admirably, and the practical effects were skillfully executed (though there's room for improvement in the CGI department, I bear no grudges).

Now, let's talk about the climax of the movie, where these valiant Ultramen engage in an epic battle against the colossal Kaiju. This monstrous adversary emerges by amalgamating several other fearsome Kaijus. And, let me tell you, it was well worth the watch. The fight sequence, while relatively short and not as lightning-fast as some might desire, exuded a charm that could uplift the spirits of any Kaiju enthusiast.

He's babygirl he wants to steal the Plasma Spark (Ultra Planet's fake sun that powers everyone just by being there) and instead of getting locked in Cube Jail for 100,000 years like the last guy who tried that, he has to fight a guy on Sand Planet Hell until he realizes the true point of fighting. While the guy's brother and the guy who made Cube Jail watch and judge him. But he realizes that the purpose of fighting is to protect those who can't protect themselves and gets to go fight his new arch-nemesis! He later went on to make a team of people who protect the multiverse (this was back in 2010), of which he was the leader and the one they were named after (of course). Given his ego, and his reputation, he'd be the equivalent of a precure pink or sentai red. Plus he's the son of the favorite Ultraman from the last generation, so he's doubly Tsupro's Favorite Boy. He also gets a friendship bracelet from a god in the parallel universe<3
