What if Bass was Alive in 21XX
This is a concept for a new Mega man X game that I want to share. What if Bass survived whatever wiped out the classic. Cast and hide away somewhere until he somehow got word of Zero being operational and went to kill him once and for all.
Bass would probably be the main antagonist of the game and aslo it could give us more insight as too what happened to the classic cast, as well as Zero's creation and bassium. I could see this being X9 or A command misson Sequel. If this is a command mission Sequel than we could see Absolute Zero and Super Bass fight which would be awesome!
Though maybe make Super bass more powerful and look cooler to make it a proper final boss. The plot could be something like Bass is gathering more Bassium to make himself stronger to eventually kill Zero, Bassium itself could be a new gimmick. I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on this.

I am going too assume that with your last point about what 6,7,8 were supposed too be and explain a bit as this actually leads into the Zero games
So 6 happens just like he says in the video and the commonly accepted theory that I always see is that the scene with Zero sealing himself away happens far into the future. Now this were it gets a bit odd as there is an end too Sigma eventually too what the Zero games say as the Scientist eventually found a cure through Zero for the Sigma Virus and X and the others put an end too Sigma. With 7 and 8 it's obvious they were leading up too another major story which is unfortunately got put on the brakes until Capcom makes X9 in the future.
It also does not help that there is a lot of information and moments that are locked behind Japanese only audio dramas and such.
Too me the story of Mega Man X was always one of X fighting too see a world with Zero and Axel were humans and Reploids can truly stand side by side without fear, and while there are unfortunately a lot of writing choices I do not agree with, that has never put a stop too me wanting too see X, Zero, and Axel actually be happy
Plus I always wanted too see more of X, Zero, and Axel and there team dynamic with each other as they all just seem like they treat each other like brothers
Hope my thoughts make sense and thanks for reading
I definitely see where you are getting at especially with them needing a serious break. Axl pretty much got the Silver treatment from the public as 6 onwards had issues in both writing, gameplay and audio translations. Especially since Inafune really didn't have a game plan for those specific games to the point he was barely even involved.
Also it's ironic that despite our heroes fighting for a world where humans and Reploids can live together in peace, the only human we see is Caine. There are the comics but those aren't exactly canon either. Seriously missed opportunity for worldbuilding and more shenanigans with both races.
I think I might've played both Megaman Zero games as a kid if they're the ones which have ZX in the title. 🤔 Didn't beat them since the final bosses were an utter pain in the ass like every other game in the series. Those games were definitely darker and seriously needed to take a chill pill from what little I remember. Like at least Yugioh/Digimon give us enough light heartedness to balance it despite being equally or even more fucked up.
Edit: @foolmariofest I accidentally mistaken ZX for Zero as I just looked it up. 😅 Capcom has habit of localization errors and such plus the designs were way too similar. Whoops!

How I would reboot MegaMan (Classic), MegaMan Zero, and MegaMan X pt. 4.5. Mega Man X
The Series in development
MegaMan X: Code Genesis [keep in mind this still in development]:
MegaMan X: Code Genesis, the story takes place after the events of MegaMan X9. The world is at peace, with humans and Reploids coexisting harmoniously. However, a new threat emerges in the form of a mysterious terrorist organization known as "Neo Arcadia." Led by a powerful and enigmatic figure, Tyranus, a human cyborg, seeks to eliminate all Reploids, claiming they are a danger to humanity. MegaMan X, along with his trusted partner Zero, must once again step up to protect both humans and Reploids from this new threat. As they delve deeper into the conflict, they uncover dark secrets about the origins of Reploids and the true intentions of Neo Arcadia. Throughout the game, players will navigate through various levels, each filled with challenging platforming sections and enemies. X and Zero will have access to a wide range of weapons and upgrades, allowing them to adapt to different situations and defeat powerful bosses. As the story progresses, X and Zero will encounter new allies and enemies, each with their own motivations and agendas. The game will explore themes of identity, free will, and the ethical implications of advanced technology. Players will have to make difficult choices that will shape the outcome of the game's narrative. Ultimately, MegaMan X: Code Genesis aims to provide an engaging and immersive experience for players, combining the beloved elements of the MegaMan X series with fresh and innovative gameplay mechanics. With its captivating story, stunning visuals, and challenging gameplay, MegaMan X: Code Genesis promises to be a must-play for fans of the series and newcomers alike.
MegaMan X: Code Genesis is expected to be rated T for Teen by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). This rating is given to games that are suitable for players aged in the adolescence and older. The game may contain violence, blood, language, and suggestive themes. Parents are advised to review the game's content before allowing their children to play.
MegaMan X: Corrupted [My version, keep in mind this is still in development]: Set After the events of MegaMan X: Code Genesis, In the year 21XX, the world is still recovering from the aftermath of the Neo Arcadia incident, the Maverick Wars has now become the Neo Maverick Wars. The Maverick Hunters, and legendary veteran soldier MegaMan X, have been tirelessly fighting against the rogue Reploids known as Mavericks. However, a new threat emerges that could potentially destroy everything they have fought for. MegaMan X: Corrupted begins with the discovery of a mysterious energy source deep within an abandoned research facility. X, along with his trusted partner Zero, investigates the source and uncovers a powerful artifact called the "Corruption Core." This core has the ability to corrupt New Generation Reploids without Sigma’s DNA and DNA Data, turning them into mindless Mavericks. As X and Zero try to contain the Corruption Core, a group of powerful Mavericks known as "The Corrupted" emerges. Led by a mysterious figure known as "Omega," these Mavericks are unlike anything X and Zero have ever faced before. They possess enhanced abilities and are immune to traditional Maverick Hunter weapons. Realizing that they cannot defeat The Corrupted with their current arsenal, X and Zero must embark on a dangerous quest to acquire new upgrades and abilities. They must travel through various stages, each guarded by a powerful Maverick boss, to obtain the necessary tools to combat the Corruption Core and its influence. MegaMan X: Corrupted introduces a nonlinear gameplay structure, allowing players to choose which stages to tackle first. Each stage is designed with challenging platforming sections, intense boss battles, and hidden secrets. The game also features a deep upgrade system, allowing players to customize X and Zero's abilities to suit their playstyle. Throughout the game, X and Zero will encounter familiar faces from the MegaMan X series, both as allies and enemies. They will also uncover the truth behind the Corruption Core and its origins, leading to a climactic showdown with Omega, The Sigma Children and The Corrupted. MegaMan X: Corrupted aims to capture the spirit of the classic MegaMan X series while introducing new gameplay mechanics and a compelling storyline. With its challenging gameplay, stunning visuals, and a nostalgic soundtrack, this fan-made game is a love letter to all MegaMan X fans.
These MegaMan X Titles are still development it'll take sometime before they are done.

The Virgin Modern Mega Man:
Neglected by Capcom.
Give us an original game for once.
Mega Man 11 had to take 8 years to make after Mega Man 10.
No X9, what we get is a g*cha game and also re-releases of older games.
Legends 3 which got cancelled.
Games made without Keiji Inafune's involvement due to the latter leaving Capcom.
Is less alive compared to other company mascot franchises like Mario and Sonic.
Series had to be in crossovers to keep being alive and relevant.
X DiVE NFTs
The Chad 90s Mega Man:
Actually cared by Capcom.
More original games.
Numbered installments that do not have 8 year sequel gaps.
Introduced the X series which was more liked than Classic and Zero who was the most liked character to the point of getting his own series.
Introduced the Legends series and characters like Volnutt and Tron.
Games made with Keiji Inafune's involvement as a father, artist and long-time contributor of the franchise.
Is as alive as other company mascot franchises like Mario and Sonic.
Series didn't always need to be in crossovers to stay alive.
No NFTs, especially from a g*cha game.

favourite games of e3 set is coming along nicely but i won’t post it for another day or two in the off chance that mega man x9/ace attorney 7/hi-fi rush dlc gets announced 👀
#yeah i'm grasping at straws a little bit#also i want to include more than 10 games#but i don't have the energy to repeatedly remake and recompose the set for that#so some things aren't going to make the cut

Being a fan of Sonic and Mega Man at the same time is such a weird feeling. because on one hand, you have a series that takes several years between installments, but provides polished and generally excellent games on the rare occasion when it does update, and on the other hand you have a series that provides often very unpolished games but make up for it by being highly experimental but updating often-- i mean, 2024 just started and already this decade has given us Sonic Frontiers and its massive content update, the entirety of Sonic Prime, Sonic Superstars, Sonic Dream Team, two major hollywood movies with a third on the way, several issues of an ongoing comic series, multiple anniversary comic specials, and a spinoff miniseries for a minor fan-favorite villain. Mega Man, meanwhile, has, uh... Battle Network Legacy Collection. X Dive Offline. Mega Man 1 and 2, and X were put onto Capcom Town so you can play them all in your browser.
Like, the only release in the Mega Man franchise this decade that I can even think of is a comic series that nobody read based on a cartoon that nobody watched. Granted, the comic is extremely good, but I only know that because I'm a diehard superfan who follows this series religiously.
Between the two, part of me honestly prefers Sonic's format. Because yes, the games are often unpolished. Yes, they are extremely hit or miss. But when they hit, they hit hard, and there's so much experimentation and variation that if theres anything you don't like, you can pretty much expect it to be gone soon. The things we get from Mega Man are fantastic. The Legacy Collections are some of the best retro collections of all time, and I will sing the praises of Mega Man Fully Charged alone in my tower for eternity, but it's so rare-- the last new mainline Mega Man game was almost 6 years ago now. And that wouldn't be so bad on its own, only Capcom have made no indications since then that they're working on anything new. On top of that, Mega Man 11, the aforementioned last game, was...fine. It was highly polished, played like a dream, and the level design was perfectly serviceable, but it lacked ambition. It felt like it was made to ease people back into Mega Man, but there's been no followup.
Sonic, for all its faults and inconsistencies and bugs, is always there, and it's always willing to get a little weird. Sonic loves playing with the formula, and it doesn't always work out, but it does mean that whatever comes next is going to be something new and strange and different, and that's exciting. For Mega Man, it's just... I don't know, it begins to feel hopeless after a while. Maybe X9 will be announced tomorrow and all my prayers will be answered, but until then it's just frustrating having these months where Capcom decides to push Mega Man as the next big thing again, only to lose interest and stop for another 8 years. I still love both equally, but I'd rather the games actually come out than live a life of what-ifs and could've-beens.

Mega Man thought of the day 2, X9 where

The reason why so many fanworks try to tie Classic to X is simply because of the whole "what happened between the two series?" mystery that Capcom introduced when making X, and since Capcom has never (and probably never will) given an answer some fans want to give one themselves, and it's actually a phenomenon that can be witnessed in other circumstances whenever Capcom leaves holes to fill:
there have been plenty of fangames trying to either make a ZX3 or a ZX prequel in order to fill in the holes left by that series' hiatus.
Fans have been trying to make their own Legends 3 ever since the....incident
There are also plenty of fanfics trying to fill in the gaps between X and Zero, especially with the gargantuan amounts of Mega Man X9 fanfictions
The reason why there are so many works focusing on trying to tie X and Classic together is because that is THE big one, the one everyone wants to know about, if nothing else than because Classic and X are more popular than most other series so there's more fan interest there.
As for the fandom well... back when MM11 was announced most people were jumping for joy but there were relatively smaller groups clamouring for an X9/ZX3/Legends3 yadda yadda
In general I find that there's less genuine disprespect towards Classic by fandom groups, and more the simple fact that different people are interested in different sub series so they get pissy whenever their favorite is not given attention.
Nowadays I believe the fandom will start losing its shit if the next big release isn't anything other than Classic, since the last 3 mainline games to be released (excluding Collections) were all Classic, but I once found old fan forums dating back during the 2000s that spoke of anything not Classic related like it was the plague and saw Mega Man 9 as the return of the REAL Mega Man, so really it depends on the times.
Personally speaking I really like the other subseries for their gameplay mostly, since I'm someone who tends to separate gameplay from plot whenever possible, so games like X1,X2 and X4 can still be some of my favorites despite their lacking stories (especially in X4's case), and I do hope Capcom will...at least attempt at creating a better balance between them all, as focusing solely on Classic would be a shame at this point since non of the others are unsalvagable by any means
I think a part of the reason why later Mega Man series stopped referencing Classic is mostly due to the in-universe passage of time, as each series tends to mostly reference its preceeding one:
X references Classic a whole bunch, Zero references X but not Classic, ZX references Zero but, aside from the terms Reploid and Maverick still being a thing, nobody even remembers who X and Zero even where in universe, much less Sigma. And then by Legends the world of the past series is completely forgotten with pretty much zero references to anything due to the massive passage of time.
In general I don't really get the feeling any of the sub series wanted to replace Classic or present itself as the "superior" one since even X itself was originally created to run in parallel with Classic. It's only in the early 2000s that things started to shift, with Mega Man as a franchise becoming more and more niche and Capcom focusing much less on Classic and eventually axing the X series in favor of new sub series, and when even that started failing they brough back Classic while axing everything else. And then the 2010s hit and well...you know.
Of course if we're talking fandom perception yeah that's another thing, but in my experience I've only rarely seen people express contempt towards Classic for being the "kiddie one". In fact I've always seen people criticize X for it's story approach and vastly preferring Wily to the likes of Sigma
Keep in mind that the Mega Man fandom is not one that I'm super deep into in the same way that I am with the Sonic, Spyro, Crash and Mario fandoms. Compared to the overwhelming... habits in Sonic's, I can believe that things are probably a little more equal in Mega Man's by comparison, despite my own experiences with it.
But for me at least, I started noticing this when a lot of Classic-based fangames would be made almost for the sole purpose of a big Zero reveal, or having Zero kill the Classic cast, or tying it into the X series in some other overdone way. Then we had Archie Mega Man, which also frequently got praised for its edgy-for-its-own-sake aspects. In hindsight, it's like it predicted the reception to the IDW zombot arc.
As for the franchise itself and how it ended up influencing the fandom's perceptions, I guess we can chalk it up to Capcom operating like Capcom.
