#365DaysOfVGM Day 99:
Old Generation Area (Mega Man Network Transmission [2003])
A slower, heavier melody mixed between futuristic sounds and simple yet well-timed percussion, just like the music and in-game area suggests. There’s always this image in my mind, like I’m about to open some giant door to some secret place whenever I play this stand-out track, an image no doubt influenced by the aforementioned heavy melody.
While the game is mediocrity incarnate, the music is truly something special, and deserves a listen for the whole thing, not just this one track. I had a hard time choosing which favorite to use, and ultimately chose the one that sounded the least like the other games featured in this list, which while doesn’t reflect my most favorite of them, brings some much-needed variety to the list; it’s a dilemma I have to deal with for every pick on the list, I hope you can appreciate the time and effort that went into it all, as little attention as it gets!
(Length before loop: 1.5+ minutes)

The dialogue in this game (Mega Man Network Transmission) is kinda clunky but other than that I will admit I've been enjoying it (I think I'm about halfway through, and am concurrently playing it alongside the Zero/ZX games)
And in a way this basically counts as the first Battle Network game I've played too so yea

I wasn’t done, by the way. This is from Mega Man Network Transmission, a game developed by Arika, which was founded by developers who left Capcom and remained on good terms with them, and made a few spin-offs here and there. This is one of them. So Mega Man Battle Network is one of my favourite video game series, and this is a side entry that takes place between the first and second game. The series is almost entirely a weird, but extremely fun combination of traditional JRPG mechanics, card games, action combat, and also elements of strategy games. The majority of the classic series that Battle Network spun off from, are platformers.  So this is a platformer, that retains the JRPG and card mechanics, tries to integrate them into the gameplay of a platformer, and it probably failed because I played this game when I was eight and my ability to judge the quality of video games was not good. I loved it, but I’m pretty sure it was slow, clunky, and awkward. I still love it. This is from the first real stage the game has. Also, if you just try to search the name of the track without including Mega Man in the title, you get a bunch of ads for faster internet connection.

Idk if this is a super hot take or not, but given that Battle Network already has more of a completed story compared to other Mega Man series, I'd be perfectly content with never getting a new mainline MMBN game if we instead got a new animated adaptation that stuck closer to the game canon (and included Network Transmission, Battle Chip Challenge, and both mobile games) than NT Warrior did
I know the odds of Capcom even doing something like this are low but god dAMMIT I NEED TO HEAR THE WORDS "SAITO-NIISAN" SPOKEN OUT LOUD AGAIN PLEASE MY CROPS ARE DYING

The Network Transmission "redesigns" for the Joe's will never not be funny because the changes are so minor they might as well not be there
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If I didn't know these were computer viruses and not robots in a timeline where Dr. Light had sex instead of making robot children, I never would've guessed that the Network Transmission Joes were not just the regular classic series ones
Like at least with Mets there's a very clear difference, even if most elements of their design stayed relatively the same
