grian server tour pt 4/4

other funny and/or important things from the famous 8h grian video:

grian server tour pt 1/4

yesterday i could finally watch grian 8h tour of the server. i am currently 5h in. between hermits i don't know well yet, i was very intrigued by joe, tango and zedaph.

joe speaks in such a fascinating way and gives me the vibes of someone who knows a lot of interesting facts and is very cultured.

tango really impressed me with his noodles yeah and the fact that he's basically building computers on minecraft. LIKE WHAT?? crazy. plus i really like his voice (but this i already knew it ahah) and i think it goes perfectly with his character being a burning little thingy cause his voice sounds burnt idk how to describe it.

zedaph amazed me for his ability of finding a way to transform everything in a minigame. i am adhd so it's a thing i try to do too when i don't like a task and i was so impressed! i recently watched itslam and it was really funny. my friend also says people draw zedaph as a yellow faun sheep? or something? and my comment is 👁👁

and aaaaall of this made me think back at the first times watching mumbo. i remember i said to my friend who introduced me to mcyt: 'does he ever shut up? he talks like a machine gun! ' guys ahah now he's my absolute favourite and when i watch his videos his voice makes me calm down.

anyways back on topic, i think i'll watch the remaining 3h today and see if someone or something impresses me in that bit too. as a general thing the tour itself has been very nice to watch and very fun (expecially when grian broke stuff)

about that hermits x dunmeshi

i want to actually decide who is who. ofc my two fav characters are gonna be each other. mumbo is gonna be laios. TBF CMON it's not even so farfetched, i can clearly see the similarities between the two

i remember seeing the imp and skizz podcast with mumbo as guest and seeing him all excited and wagging showing his cool cameras and explaining everything. i think it's the same excitement laios shows for monsters trivia and stuff.

then we have the specific 'only know how to do one thing and that's it' c!mumbo with redstone, laios with monsters knowledge. OFC both of them know how to do other stuff. okay. but they're best at what they love most and care way way less about most of the rest.

then heck cc!mumbo has that laios look ngl and he surely passes as a tallman. he's almost 2mt of a man oof! i.....i am also guilty of making some sketches of this oops

the point is i don't know every single hermit as nicely as i would want to yet, so idk if you have any idea and it sparks joy you're free to help me figure it out.

grian server tour pt 3/4

i got to admit when i saw it posted and it was 8h long it felt like a lot oof. i also wasn't able to watch it properly right away as well cause i was on vacation with a kinda very bad internet connection. i am guilty of skipping to mumbo's bit, watching that and closing the app. what can i say? i have my priorities straight.

but yeah as i got home and rested a bit from vacation (yes i need to rest from resting) and i actually got to see the tour properly i got very surprised by how interesting it is.

i am mostly curious about people and how they think and live and do stuff, as like i'm an alien yk. so it was sooooo cool hearing all the reasoning behind their choices, their storage system, if they like their redstone exposed or hidden or nicely put in exposition, if they enjoy landscaping or big builds or little details in the interiors, and so on and so forth.

i'm saying this as someone who never saw a grianservertourTM he had a brilliant idea doing this (massive work btw) and it was very very appreciated, at least by me. i was telling my friends i was a bit pissed seeing no new videos of his on hermitcraft but that was just me being impatient cause this was well worth it yup ùwú

now about his part of the tour...i can't believe he successfully put me on hold, or i actually do. i do believe it. that music is just too good and it was also a nice and relaxing pause from the tour.

i also want to know who helped him shoot that part of the video. i remember seeing someone with his skin on when looking through nameMC for the mumbo trial fanart i did, but i can't remember who it was. i actually don't even remember if i really saw it or my brain is just making it up at this point. plz tell me i'm not crazy.

aka the last 3h i was missing! as before, hermits i don't know well that impressed me: keralis, false and jevin.

keralis really thinks he built not much? his base is so rich tho and beautiful! the ambience is so immersive and i love how he perfectly blended function and aesthetics! what he needs to get better at is advertising his shops lol /lh BUY BOOSHES AT KERALIS GUYS! I'LL ADVERTISE FOR HIM OK

false is so me lmao she said she built things and put random details around just cause. I FEEL YOU. i also am an enemy of the lore😂 i don't hate lore for things but it's just too much to think about, overwhelming even. apart from that, holy hell her voice is soooo nice sidtjutdjdt sooo calming aah i'm in love. and the biggest shoutout to false's firefly in keralis base cause woah! so simple yet beautiful. and and and!! the underground factory looks hella cool i love it sooo much, WHATTT? crazy.

i was shouting/pos at jevin for using tinyglade for his future castle cause i recently played it and i freaking love it too! plus the thick thick magic forest he created with all the sounds is soooo nice. i have built a similar bridge in my base (in the server with my besties) and he managed to do it 74236 times better! that was the vibe i wanted to achieve.

so yeah basically i got to know six new hermits! yipieee!! i think i'll do another part where i talk about the tour in general and grian cause lol... L O L

Nosferatu yap by Mee

This wants to be half a yap and half a personal analysis about Eggers' movie. Basically, I just want to write about things that surprised me or interested me in the movie (and script), because I really liked it.

Intro

So first things first, me and my friend like to hang out. We like to go to the cinema, grab the most isolated seats and comment on every single scene for the fun of it; things often get chaotic. This time, the random movie we picked was Nosferatu.

As I always do, I never watch trailers of the movies we go see. Either I already know what I'm about to watch or I just like to form an opinion for myself without being influenced by the internet. The literal only thing I knew was it was a horror movie and my friend added there was romance too. I honestly don't enjoy either of these genres, so I just expected to chitchat with my friend the entire time.

ooo was I wrong!

The first part of the movie was kinda slow but I appreciated that in some way. I really enjoyed how elusive the Count is made to be when Thomas first encounters him. Him appearing and disappearing, and the scenes being somewhat chaotic and confused really make you feel like you're also being toyed by Orlok's vampiric powers.

On the other hand I couldn't wait for things to evolve and see some more danger. And I got what I asked for, cause without even realizing it, I watched with an open mouth all the second part.

Since I really like people, I'll start talking about Nosferatu's characters.

The Characters/Actors

Ellen

I am in love with her. I've never seen this actress before but, goddamn, me and my friend were HOOKED by her performance. She made Ellen even more interesting in my eyes. Especially in the second part of the movie when she goes full bonkers, she's desperate and very much possessed.

I really like how her character is written; she seems like your typical (sigh) background weepy woman at first, but then you can really see how she's the indiscussed protagonist of the story. She knows exactly what to do and when to do it, while the rest of the cast still has to learn the ABC before trying to act against Orlok and fail. The real enemy of the story is the lack of trust in her words anyone has. I think the professor is the key point for her to also start believing in her abilities and take her final choice. *loud handclapping noise*

Friedrich

Friedrich! MY BOY! As soon as he was introduced, I screamed!!!!! I already knew the actor from Bullet Train, so it was such a pleasant surprise to see him. I was also very pleased he had a mustache again, cause yeah, I'm a big mustache enjoyer (for people who know my Mumbo Jumbo design, it is heavily based on Tangerine oops).

I heard online that some people think the actor made Friedrich character annoying, but??? The guy just really doesn't wanna know anything about occult and wanna stay out of all the shit. Is that an 'annoying' trait or a cowardly one? I was honestly laughing a bit about his 'fuck this shit I'm out' behaviour throughout the movie cause he just proceeded to be in even more shit every time. He also has the saddest, most pathetic ending ever. Rest In Piss.

Von Franz

As I briefly said before, I think he's the very key to Ellen discovering how to trust herself. Finally, someone came by and gave her the answers she had been searching for all this time, never once telling her what she should or shouldn't do. Von Franz knows how she has to handle things but lets her explore and choose on her own.

SIEVERS She will rave all the night. VON FRANZ Then rave she must! There is a dread storm rising!

Moreover, he really has that 'excited Heimerdinger' vibe about him that I quite enjoy. I especially saw it in this scene where he closely examines the rat bites on the corpse. This guy passionately studied the occult for years and now that he finds someone like Ellen, he's thrilled about it. Despite his funky enthusiasm, he's the one taking the situation most seriously (a classic move I always like).

He also has a mustache. +100 points.

Count Orlok

You know who else has a mustache? Hell yeah, our 'little' critter Orlok!

As I was watching the movie, I just casually enjoyed his mustache. After, I discovered Eggers rightfully based his character on real Transylvanian noblemen and I loved it even more. I am completely on board with the once-handsome, barely-walking, rotting corpse of a vampire. YES. And even though he's horrid and putrid, he doesn't fail to somehow fascinate Ellen (and me by the way). I believe the way Orlok is written and interpreted is really on point. Eggers' Orlok really rolls a nat20 on charisma.

Prior to this, I only knew Orlok from the 1922 Nosferatu and the guy looked rather silly and goofy, not at all ideal for Eggers version of the story. May my cinema professor excuse me for not doing my homework then (watching and analizing 1922 Nosferatu); I'll make sure to do it shortly. Better late than ever, right?

Other characters

The others didn't really impress me if not for the costumes. I don't think they're bad characters or anything; I know what purpose they all serve, but they just didn't obsess my mind as much.

Like paintings

Leaving behind the carefully knitted story, the movie itself is visually a work of art, no matter the crudeness of the scene.

The use of black and white for when there's Orlok's influence is a smart move and it also brings you back to that 'old movie' vibe. In the first part of the movie, especially, even Ellen's movents feel classic.

This very last literal painting that closes the movie reminded me of Hannibal crime scenes, and above that, I really think I've never seen a better ending than this. Really breathtaking.
