“Meekness meets injustice and suffering with the endurance that comes from Jesus Christ and the mercy of God the Father.(26) And, as Jesus teaches, the meek will inherit the earth. In the Old Testament, God promises land to Abraham and Israel. Here he promises that those who follow in his footsteps of meekness will inherit a new land, the kingdom of heaven.(27) The meek person is able to live out the Beatitudes from the strength he or she has in Christ. That's why we can meet violence with charity. That's why we can be peacemakers. In a sense, the meek person is already living the life of heaven now.”

Meekness
Artist: Pompeo Batoni (Italian, 1708–1787)
Date: 1752
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Collection: National Trust Collections, United Kingdom
Description
This is an allegorical representation of one of the eight Beatitudes, from the Sermon on the Mount. It and its companion were commissioned in Rome by Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh of Uppark, when on the Grand Tour with his wife and some of their relatives. The idea may have come from one of them, his clergyman brother, Utrick, subsequently Rector of Harting.
"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth" is symbolised by a woman gazing gently at the lamb she holds on her lap. This animal is the traditional symbol of that virtue, but also implies an allusion to Christ as the Lamb of God.

A Prayer for Judging the Wicked
1 Why do you stand far away, Lord? Why do you hide in times of distress? 2 The wicked one arrogantly pursues the afflicted, who are trapped in the schemes he devises. 3 For the wicked one boasts about his own desire; he blesses the greedy and despises the Lord. 4 With haughty arrogance, the wicked thinks, “God will not seek justice.” He always presumes “There is no God.” 5 Their ways always seem prosperous.
Your judgments are on high, far away from them.
They scoff at all their enemies. 6 They say to themselves, “We will not be moved throughout all time, and we will not experience adversity.” 7 Their mouth is full of curses, lies, and oppression, their tongues spread trouble and iniquity. 8 They wait in ambush in the villages, they kill the innocent in secret. 9 Their eyes secretly watch the helpless, lying in wait like a lion in his den. They lie in wait to catch the afflicted. They catch the afflicted when they pull him into their net.
10 The victim is crushed, and he sinks down; the helpless fall by their might. 11 The wicked say to themselves, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.”
12 Rise up, Lord! Raise your hand, God. Don’t forget the afflicted! 13 Why do the wicked despise God and say to themselves, “God will not seek justice.”?
14 But you do see! You take note of trouble and grief in order to take the matter into your own hand. The helpless one commits himself to you; you have been the orphan’s helper.
15 Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; so that when you seek out his wickedness you will find it no more. 16 The Lord is king forever and ever; nations will perish from his land.
17 Lord, you heard the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen them, you will listen carefully, 18 to do justice for the orphan and the oppressed, so that men of the earth may cause terror no more. — Psalm 10 | International Standard Version (ISV) The International Standard Version of the Holy Bible Copyright © 1995-2014 by ISV Foundation. The Meek Inherit the Earth: Biblical Meekness and Its Relevance in Social Justice
Matthew 5:5 states, “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” (NIV). This beatitude highlights the value of meekness in God’s kingdom, a concept that resonates deeply with modern DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and social justice movements. In biblical terms, meekness is not weakness, but rather strength under control. Moses, for example, is described as “the meekest man on…

DAVID ARMS HIMSELF
1 Samuel 17:40 And he took his staff in his hand and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF FAITH
1 Timothy 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

It's crazy how the presence of God can completely change your mood and attitude in an instant. One worship song, one whispered prayer, one scripture verse can take you from the absolute worst mindset to a place of such peace and joy. There's nothing like the presence of God. 🙌🏼 Praise God ♥️☝🏼 #KingsofKings

Learning from the Horse:
The Law of Progression in Reproofs
Tumblr media
"Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you." Psalm 32:9 ESV
I am reminded this morning that God's top preference for our behavior is that we be "meek" and easily obedient.
But, if we are distracted and inattentive, He will then deal with us as horse that NEED a whip nudge them along, to get moving in His direction.
And, if we are still too dull and reluctant, then He will use a bridle that will restrict and turn our head, like the donkey needs.
And, then, if we are still too rebellious and dull of hearing, He brings a rod to get our attention, and cause us to pay attention and "get the memo."
This is the "Law of Progression" that is throughout Scripture as it relates to "Reproofs" and "Instruction in Righteousness."
"A whip for the horse, a bridle for the donkey, and a rod for the back of fools." Proverbs 26:3 ESV
In dressage (a type of horse training) the horse has become very sensitive to the "invisible" commands of the rider. Simply shifting weight in the saddle, or leaning, is sufficient for the horse to sense the command and obey. In horse training, "meekness" is the desired temperament. The word "meek" comes from the Greek word "praus" which translates to "strength under control." In ancient Greece, war horses were trained to be "praus", or MEEK: under control and WILLING to submit.
God has called us to be meek, like a horse that is fully submitted to the rider.
Understanding that this definition of "meek" is the one that best fits the Biblical term in Matthew 5:5, Numbers 12:3, Psalm 37:11, helps us to understand that He wants us to be attentive and observant of His "invisible" commands. Essentially, the "pressure shift" that the Lord exerts as guidance and teaching. It is the gentle pressure, the "alert" to pay attention. It might be that there is a conflict brewing, or an "alert" that we need to focus on a particular learning area.
So, His desire is that we will be like "dear children" and like toddlers following their parents and copying them during their daily life.
"Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints." Ephesians 5:1-3 ESV

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
For too many of us, this Beatitude will conjure up a sanitized Jesus with rosy cheeks and soft blond hair. He's gentle and sweet. In order to follow him, we need to make ourselves precious or emasculated. We start to wonder if Nietzsche was right in his contempt for Christianity as a slave religion, a cult of the weak trying to dominate the strong.
But this is remote from real meekness. Meekness is the poverty and self-mastery of Jesus, the king who rode a donkey instead of a war charger into Jerusalem.(23) Remember that Aslan—C. S. Lewis's great Narnia figure for Jesus-was a meek lion, but very far from a soft or weak one. Real meekness is the quiet self-discipline and courage with which Jesus opposed the Pharisees and Sadducees. Think of a mother who commands her children's respect not by raising her voice, but by her quiet authority. That's meekness. The meek person is strong and gentle because he's filled with the confidence of God's wisdom and love.(24) Far from any hint of weakness, Pinckaers writes, meekness is "the outcome of a long struggle against the disordered violence of our feelings, failings and fears. In such instances meekness implies tremendous inner strength."(25)

My kingdom for those who have the meekness of Moses...
The bush may burn but shall never be consumed. When i think of beheaded babies in Israel, i think of angels preparing them for YHWH’s loving and welcoming and eternal nursery. i think the same for the hostages, that they had the chance to become followers of Christ, that they had time to insure eternal salvation. i ask You, Lord, to welcome them all. My faith in You and belief in Your only…

Suffering for Righteousness
13 And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. — 1 Peter 3:13-17 | New King James Version (NKJV) The Holy Bible; New King James Version®. Lessico delle Emozioni.
Mitezza.
