take me back to yesterday, to my sophomore year in biology class. hearing medulla oblongata jolted me back to when i had biology with him. it took him three weeks to muster up enough courage to ask me to study with him on a wednesday before an exam; there were two anxious hearts in that coffee shop. it was the middle mark of where we lived. he liked his coffee black, sometimes he would venture out and try an iced coffee. i got the same thing each time, i was never a surprise.  medulla oblongata controls the autonomic reflexes such as breathing and the heart and its vessels for them to function. i guess the thought of him comes as simply as that. maybe he was the reason why my head never listened to my heart when it came to him. he helped me pass my exams by saying the terms in funny voices. i'd laugh so much that i'd almost spill my coffee a few times.he would always draw out the syllables or speed them up. it's one first moments about him i can't seem to forgot, even a year later.
