Medle - The Attaché

Masterlist

A successful and effective career soldier, Medle was placed in charge of planning and executing a covert operation against the Galactic Republic during the Great Galactic War, which he himself described as going "too well." It earned him the attention of Imperial Intelligence, something he did not welcome, and he was unceremoniously transferred over to a division within Intelligence tasked with liaising with the Military, serving as second-in-command to Commander Gargun.

During the Cold War, Gargun led a team of soldiers into the Dark Temple against the wishes of the Dark Council and went missing. As Medle was unable to report the death of his superior without revealing the mission he had embarked upon, a power vacuum began to form within the Division. Using one of the few resources available to him that weren't until Sith supervision, he contacted the Mandalorian Enclave to request a bounty hunter.

Medle is assigned the future Champion of the Great Hunt, who rebuffs his attempt at intimidation over her alien nature, and the two work effectively together to execute all remaining members of Gargun's team, including himself, and stage more appropriate and reportable deaths for them. However, becoming unhappily more used to cloak-and-dagger style operating, Medle attempts to betray the hunter to keep his secret, but is defeated and, surprisingly, spared.

Going their separate ways, he receives the promotion to Commander and leads the Military Liaison Division as honourably as possible, keeping tabs on the Champion using his security clearance. He is unable to assist her when the Sith Empire disavows her in the wake of the Republic's accusations as Intelligence is facing it's own problems. When the Operations Division is dissolved into the Military, Medle's division mandate is changed to assisting with the transition, making their only job the handling of paperwork.

Because of this change, and the refusal of his request to transfer to the Military with members of the Operations Division, he resigns his commission. Out of either vindictiveness or bureaucratic difficulty, he discovers he is blacklisted from any employment except his old position, leaving him a broken man forced to watch the Empire struggle against the Republic, itself and, eventually, the Eternal Throne.

Surprisingly, he is contacted by former Sith Intelligence Minister Lana Beniko about a job offer. Having spent nearly a decade surviving by performing odd jobs, he takes the meeting only to discover he is selected to help form the upper echelons of the new Eternal Alliance Military. With a promise that he can remain a soldier and not a spy, despite assisting with covert actions, he accepts the position and returns to doing what he loves.

Other things at the rink today: I had to go through a security check because we have a couple of pro American hockey teams here for some reason.

It's cool and all. But I have no idea who they are and why so much security. It was like a low budget airport.

Maybe its because they have the Stanley cup here? Who knows. Its very weird.

This statue that you can see is oftentimes called Eros, but is supposed to represent Anteros.

What you probably know from the aftermentioned post is that Anteros is a god of requited love.

What you most likely don't know is that he also is described as

punisher of those who scorn love and advances of others

OR

the avenger of unrequited love

Which means it could represent

Feelings wholeheartly returned by a man that realised it far too late

Anteros "punishing" Gerald for preventing some new love blooming up because of his medling, with fate of Ivo unknown

Anteros "avanging" Stone after being friendzoned by a man he loved for so long and blowing him up

or some mix of all of the above, which I find far more interesting

Back to amgst, how does Xin Mo react when Xiu Ya shatters as Shen Qingqiu self destructs?

Since SQQ is still the og goods in this au, its safe say the only person he would implode to save is YQY and even that is a stretch. Theyre on tolerant terms because of Xuan Su and Xiu Ya's medling, but SQQ is still a pretty snappish person overall (just cuz hes leaning more towards tsundere doesnt mean his ptsd is gone)

@greeniegaes was workin more on something similar to this though, with XY actually being the one to shatter/crack to protect someone (just woke up, cant remember who). In that situation both LBH and XM are about as normal about it as they are in svsss (which is to say: theyre not lmao)

Why, in countless incarnations, Settes, or at least the first soul, where *never* happy? Was the "miserable pattern of loneliness, separation, betrayal, and execution" due to Sette's innate personality? Olgang medling? Being a tailed never growing child outcast? Chance? I know, probably a mix of all of these and more, but what made this pattern so sturdy?

We know very little about the Sette and Jacaranda situation. Sette Frummagem only knows what we know! She's got a hot motivation to want to investigate this and learn more though. A little bird is now in her ear telling her a lot of very distressing things. It gave her leave to live again, but it may have a price in mind...

Of course they weren't allowed to cook. The daily menu they were given was created to provide them with everything they needed, and the longnecks weren't happy when someone medled with it.

But sometimes, Calico didn't feel like eating the same thing for the fourth time in line. Or maybe someone had missed the dinner. Or they woke up in the middle of the night, hungry.

The older clones sometimes brought them snacks from other planets, and mixed with their rations, it made something really tasty, most of the times.

Eternal Alliance AU Masterlist

I've always considered the Eternal Alliance to be a wasted storytelling opportunity for Star Wars: The Old Republic. They presented us with an alliance between the two rival factions of the galaxy but, created brand new characters to fill it, instead of using any pre-existing ones (that aren't companions).

So, I wanted to come up with a solid headcanon regarding an Eternal Alliance AU and it's members, which is what this is. For now, it'll just be a list of people who I think would leave their respective faction and join to fight against the Eternal Throne but, maybe one day I'll write some scenes surrounding the group's campaign against Valkorion, Arcann, and Vaylin.

One major change I've made for this AU is that Valkorion doesn't die in Chapter 1 of KOTFE by anyone's hand. Instead, he continues to rule throughout the story, only dying when the Alliance attacks Zakuul (i.e. KOTET Chapter 9)

Backstory

Kieran doesn't talk much about himself, he's there to do his job and get out. This leads to people in the hospital viewing him as a bit mysterious or cold, but really he just doesn't think there's much to tell and doesn't want to come off as arogant. Below is all House could get out of him:

Kieran was living in England up until he graduated from the Uni of Manchester and moved to the U.S to find more opportunities in the field of genetics. At some point during college, he transitioned and went stealth in professional spaces. His promised position fell through while he was on his way to getting his green card, but he decided not to cancel and look for something else. He ended up at PPTH with a fellowship that he honestly wasn't excited for, since it meant no speciality work. Kieran decided to stick with it and ended up enjoying the system of the fellowship and found a way to continue to pursure his research. After 3 years, he quit alongside the others for undisclosed personal reasons and took a position in the Psychology department where he remains. Along the way, he joined a non-profit Genetics lab where he continues to study genetic conditions.

Personality

Kieran is a hot mess. He's super smart and focused on his work but struggles with the humanistic part of medicine. He often understands or agrees with House's views or strageties because medicine isn't inately human for him. This is why he enjoyed the ddx department and became a geneticist in the first place. He's pretty independent so adapting to a team was difficult at first but he saw the advantages and tries to connect with more people after quitting the fellowship. He doesn't judge people too harshly and so genuinely likes everyone he works with and doesn't get involved in spats. His personal life is kept private but he isn't lonely, just has decent work/home boundaries. He's very chill and easy going in the ddx room because he tries to trust the process and respects his colleagues. This doesn't just mean he's a doormat, he'll fight for a diagnoses/treatment he believes is right but tries not to get too riled up. House picks him out often simply because unconvering anything usable against Kieran was like finding gold. It's all in good fun at his expense until it affects his performance or process, which is when he'd get genuinely annoyed at the prying and medling. If House is poking him, he's likely hiding in the lab or Wilson's office just so he get work done in peace and quiet.

The Biden administration has triggered another proxy war for Donald Trump to deal with when he becomes president next month. The U.S. deep state is fighting a proxy war in Syria, which appears to be waged with the intention of further destabilizing the Middle East and stirring up another front in World War III.

Syria is collapsing under the weight of another U.S.-sponsored proxy Civil War, with the US, Israel and Sunni jihadists on one side and Russia, Iran, Assad, and Shiite jihadists on the other.

Al Nusra (which is comprised of Al-Qaida and ISIS affiliates) is taking over the country with the help of Turkey, a U.S. ally and key member of the NATO military alliance. These rebels have seized the city of Aleppo and many smaller towns and villages.

M. Dowling at The Independent Sentinel notes that “Jake Sullivan has said Al-Qaida is on our side in Syria.”

Jake Sullivan is Biden’s national security adviser and a key enabler, along with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, of the anti-Russia obsessed deep-state club that shares one thing in common. They all belong to the Trilateral Commission and the Council on Foreign Relations.

I'm obsessed with the confluence of meta-decisions that led to Under the Red Hood as a story.

Like, we have the Joker, who was supposed to die in one of the first issues because Finger worried having re-occuring villains would make Batman look incompetent. The editor nixed it, and the Joker lived.

Jason Todd, meanwhile, had the opposite pressure. Laugh at the Robin insecurity trend all you want, but it represents the very real reaction of fandom. Fans /hated/ Jason for not being Dick, and called in to have him killed. He was quite directly murdered by fandom itself, and there was some genuine ghoulish cruelty from the fans calling in for his death.

The Joker was saved by editorial medling, Jason Todd was killed by fan vote.

And then UtRH brings back Finger's initial concern. Because, as much as fandom wants to argue to morals, the rogues live because the IP must be protected, because comics thrive on the status quo, the ability to bring back the big names and replay the same tragedies. UtRH digs into the pain that might bring to the characters, where their death changes nothing, where the characters who don't sell will be replaced and forgotten and their killers are immortal.

In a way, the real rage is at the medium/industry itself. The industry that killed Jason for being unpopular, then replaced him with another Robin immediately, the industry where no consequence can be permanent because, no matter how many times you killed a big hero or rogue, another writer or editor will always bring them back.

In story, Jason and Bruce aren't really having a moral argument. Jason is saying "I want you to love me enough to make me feel safe and make me feel like my death mattered. I want to be assured I am still worth protecting, even if I've grown and changed" and Bruce is saying "I love you, but there's no amount of love that will make me cross that line". They want the same thing. They want to be father and son. They want the Joker dead.

Over them looms the weight of the status quo. Bruce has tried to kill the Joker. Hell, after Jason's death, he wasn't stopped by a rule against killing, he was stopped because of a weird, racist plot where the Joker became an ambassador from Iran. Bruce can never be the father Jason needs, can't kill the Joker and hang up the hood, because he is Batman, and Batman sells issues.

And Red Hood is held back too, because he can't be 'the man who can do what Batman can't' because they can't have a DC character offing rogues. Writers had to choose between defanging him or making him a rogue himself.

Gotham can never heal, because the story cannot end. The Joker has lived almost 100 years, has been countless different characters, has changed backstories and motives, but he will never die.
