being a horror fan stopped being fun around 2012, all the genuinely exciting, energetic powerhouse visionaries of our generation got ground to a fine paste by the travails of capitalism, the straight to dvd market died a death and every molecule of horror history is being funko-ised. the current crop of horror fans are obnoxious letterboxd huffing ex superwholock fandom shipper fuckheads who look at micheal myers and say "he's so cunty slayyy", everything transforming into C O NT E N T under their gorgon like gaze, and the only actual realheads left with any punk spirit are suffering severe burnout as they toil sisyphus-like in obscurity. the cross section of horror, punk and heavy metal has completely disbanded. metal dissapeared up it's own asshole in an attempt to try to be academic and literary and punk lost any sense of fantasy or transgression beyond political statements (understandable). talk to anyone who's made a mid budget horror movie in the last ten years and you'll pretty soon hear them say something to the effect of " originally this movie was going to be way more interesting but we figured that'd be hard to do so we stripped it down to have no gore and be entirely set in one sterile location".
