Everyone says Polites is the cinnamon roll, and I agree! But, everyone says he's just a regular soldier, which, sure. I see that. But what if he wasn't? What if he was a medic. Their most knowledgeable medic at that. The one that, during the war studied texts and journals of what the local Flora and fauna was medicine and poison, which fish or animals could be prepped cooked and eaten, and which to avoid. He was the one keeping them all from being lost to infection or blood loss. Which is why it was so heartbreaking when he was killed by polyphemus. He'd been dragging wounded from the main field of battle. He hadn't had a weapon. And to kill a non-combatant, is one of the most grievous of sins. But, Odysseus couldn't kill the cyclopes. They'd be trapped if he did. He wouldn't let their sacrifice-Polites' sacrifice, go to waste.
