The Entrance Exam Information
As mentioned in the previous post, Nedzu decided to change the entrance exam due to the controversy surrounding Jack, and because I felt as though the canonical exam wasn't a good test for heroism, even with the Rescue Points.
So, in this rewrite, there are four categories the entrees can score in, each with a 99-point limit.
Villain Points:
These are the hero points canon had. There are three types of robots with one, two, and three points allotted to each one. This tests combat and action prowess.
Rescue Points:
There will be a specific site for rest and medical aid. Each civilian escorted there will be one point - two points if the examinee helped them from villain or rubble.
Support Points:
Examinees who aid others in fighting, whether it be increasing their strength or providing make-shift weapons for those with non-physical quirks, will be given points depending on how much it helps.
Hero Points:
Hero points will be allocated to those who display heroic behaviour, such as helping fellow examinees, or the newly added civilians. Additionally, those playing as civilians will have to report back to staff if they notice anyone acting particularly heroic or unheroic
Extra Details:
The robots are smaller and more brittle, though still tough, in order to give those with quirks that don't enhance their physical prowess a better chance. If a student is found acting unheroic, their Hero Points will be docked. Civillians have been added, and they are either students acting for extra credit, hired actors, or robots built by Power Loader. Students and hired actor will be seen by Hound Dog afterwards to confirm they were not negatively affected by acting helpless and/or about to die. Hero Points are a hidden point system, meaning the students are not told of it beforehand. Helping other examinees giving you points is also kept hidden.
Each of these points are to help gauge how well the examinees would perform as different types of heroes. Villain Points dictate how well they perform as action-based heroes, such as All Might and Endeavor. Recue Points dictate how well they perform as rescue heroes, such as Thirteen and Selkie. Support Points dictate how well they perform as Support Heroes, such as Power Loader or Recovery Girl.

NEET or Dirty? Understanding the Exam Marking Controversy
The NEET UG 2024 results have sparked significant controversy, with the National Testing Agency (NTA) finding itself in the spotlight, particularly over the scores of 718 and 719. To unravel this issue, let's delve into the marking scheme of NEET UG 2024 and the surrounding disputes.
The Release of NEET UG 2024 Results
On June 4, the NTA published the results for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET-UG), a crucial exam for admission into medical, dental, and AYUSH courses in India. The results quickly attracted attention due to an unprecedented number of candidates achieving perfect scores of 720/720. This year, 67 candidates secured the top spot nationwide, all attaining All India Rank 1.
The 718 and 719 Score Confusion
The controversy centers around candidates who scored 718 or 719 marks, which some critics argue are implausible within the exam's framework. The NTA clarified this irregularity, stating that compensatory marks were awarded to certain candidates. A committee of experts was convened to address grievances related to inadequate time allocation, assessing candidates' answering efficiency and determining appropriate compensation.
The NTA also pointed out that the number of candidates for the 2024 exam increased by nearly 300,000 compared to 2023, naturally resulting in higher scores. Additionally, they noted that the 2024 NEET exam was "comparatively easier" than previous years.
Marking Scheme of NEET UG 2024
The NEET UG exam consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) across four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Botany. Each subject has 50 questions, with a maximum of 45 questions considered for evaluation. Students answer 180 questions within 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Correct Answers: Awarded four marks (+4).
Incorrect Answers: Deduct one mark (-1).
Unanswered Questions: Receive no marks (0).
Multiple Correct Options: Candidates receive four marks (+4) if they mark any correct option.
All Options Correct: All attempts receive four marks (+4).
Emerging Concerns and Legal Challenges
Concerns over the NEET UG results led to at least two petitions in separate High Courts and a plea to the Supreme Court on June 1, urging a re-evaluation due to alleged question paper leaks. These legal challenges highlight the growing dissatisfaction and perceived discrepancies in the examination process.
Conclusion
The NEET UG 2024 controversy underscores significant issues within the examination system, particularly regarding score allocation and the fairness of the marking scheme. As the NTA justifies its decisions and addresses grievances, the debate continues, echoing the concerns of students and stakeholders about the integrity of one of India's most crucial entrance exams.

Supreme Court Urges Caution on NEET Retest: 'Concrete Evidence' Required
In a significant development concerning the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the Supreme Court of India has taken a measured stance on the possibility of a retest. The apex court stated that any decision to conduct a fresh examination should be based on a "concrete footing" and not merely speculative grounds.
The NEET, which serves as the sole entrance exam for admission to undergraduate medical and dental programs across India, has been embroiled in controversy following allegations of widespread malpractice and paper leaks in several states. These claims have led to calls for a retest from various quarters, including student groups and political parties.
During the hearing, a bench headed by the Chief Justice of India emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities before considering a retest. The court observed, "We cannot disrupt the academic calendar and the futures of countless students based on unsubstantiated claims. Any decision for a retest must be founded on irrefutable evidence of large-scale malpractice."
The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting NEET, defended its examination process, asserting that adequate security measures were in place to prevent any breach. The agency's counsel argued that isolated incidents, if any, should not warrant a nationwide retest.
Representatives from the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the Dental Council of India (DCI) also appeared before the court, stressing the importance of maintaining the integrity of the admission process while ensuring fairness to all candidates.
The court has directed central investigating agencies to expedite their probe into the alleged irregularities and submit a comprehensive report within four weeks. "We need a clear picture of the extent and nature of any malpractice before considering drastic measures like a retest," the bench stated.
This development has elicited mixed reactions from stakeholders. While some student organizations have welcomed the court's cautious approach, others express concern about potential delays in the admission process.
As the investigation unfolds, the Supreme Court's stance underscores the delicate balance between addressing concerns of exam integrity and safeguarding the interests of the vast majority of students who took the test in good faith. The court's emphasis on a "concrete footing" for any retest decision reflects its commitment to a fair and judicious resolution of the NEET controversy.

Future Implications
The NEET 2024 controversy is likely to have far-reaching implications, not only for the current batch of students but for the future of medical education in India as well. The controversy is expected to prompt significant reforms in the NEET examination process. There will likely be a greater emphasis on transparency, fairness, and alignment with the school curriculum to restore trust among students and parents.
The need for better support systems for students, including mental health support, guidance counseling, and exam preparation resources, will become more pronounced. Educational institutions and policymakers will need to work together to address these needs.
The controversy may lead to policy changes aimed at improving the overall quality and fairness of competitive examinations in India. This could include stricter regulations, improved question paper standards, and better monitoring mechanisms.
The controversy might lead to a shift in student preferences towards alternative career options and examinations. This could impact the future landscape of medical education and the distribution of talent across various fields.
Conclusion
The NEET 2024 controversy has highlighted several critical issues in the Indian education system, particularly concerning high-stakes competitive examinations. NEET UG Controversy: Supreme Court Seeks Answer From NTA
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG, an essential gateway for aspiring medical and dental students in India, has recently been embroiled in controversy. The Supreme Court of India has intervened, seeking a response from the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding numerous allegations and irregularities reported during the NEET UG 2024 examination. This article delves into the key issues of the controversy and the implications of the Supreme Court's involvement.
Background of the NEET UG 2024 Controversy
Allegations of Malpractice
The NEET UG 2024 examination faced multiple allegations of cheating and malpractice. Reports surfaced about question papers being leaked and the use of electronic devices to facilitate cheating. These incidents have raised serious concerns about the integrity and fairness of the examination process, leading to widespread discontent among students and parents.
Technical Glitches
In addition to allegations of malpractice, the examination was marred by technical glitches. Many students reported difficulties in logging into the online examination system, experiencing slow or frozen screens, and abrupt terminations of their tests. These technical issues disrupted the examination process, leaving many candidates anxious about their performance and results.
Discrepancies in Question Papers
Another critical issue that has added to the controversy is the discrepancy in the difficulty levels of question papers provided to different sets of students. Variations in the content and complexity of the questions have been reported, raising questions about the uniformity and standardization of the examination. This inconsistency has led to calls for a re-examination to ensure a level playing field for all candidates.
Supreme Court's Involvement
Legal Petitions
In response to the mounting allegations and irregularities, several students and parents have filed petitions in various courts across India, seeking justice and demanding a re-exam. These petitions argue that the reported issues have compromised the fairness of the NEET UG 2024 examination, potentially disadvantaging many deserving candidates.
Supreme Court's Notice to NTA
Taking cognizance of the grievances, the Supreme Court of India has issued a notice to the National Testing Agency (NTA), seeking a comprehensive response to the allegations of malpractice, technical glitches, and discrepancies in question papers. The court has emphasized the need for a transparent and fair examination process and has directed the NTA to provide detailed explanations and remedial measures to address the concerns raised by the petitioners.
Potential Impact on Students
The Supreme Court's involvement has brought a glimmer of hope to the aggrieved students and parents, who are eagerly awaiting a resolution. However, the ongoing legal proceedings have also created a sense of uncertainty among the candidates. Preparing for NEET is an arduous process that demands months of dedicated study, and the prospect of a re-exam adds to the stress and anxiety faced by the students. Furthermore, any delay in the admission process could affect the academic calendar and disrupt the future plans of many aspiring medical professionals.
What Lies Ahead
NTA's Response and Accountability
The NTA's response to the Supreme Court's notice will be crucial in determining the next steps. The agency needs to address the allegations comprehensively and ensure that appropriate measures are taken to rectify the reported issues. Transparency and accountability will be key to restoring the trust of the candidates and stakeholders in the examination process.
Possible Outcomes
Depending on the NTA's response and the Supreme Court's assessment, several outcomes are possible. The court may order a re-exam if it finds substantial evidence of malpractice and irregularities, or it may direct the NTA to implement corrective measures to ensure fairness in the evaluation of the current exam. In either case, the priority will be to uphold the integrity of the NEET UG examination and protect the interests of the students.
Conclusion
The NEET UG 2024 controversy has highlighted significant challenges in the administration of one of India's most important entrance exams. The Supreme Court's intervention underscores the need for a transparent, fair, and reliable examination process. As the legal proceedings unfold, it is imperative for the NTA to address the concerns raised and take decisive action to ensure the credibility of NEET UG. The resolution of this controversy will be crucial in safeguarding the aspirations of countless students striving to pursue careers in medicine and dentistry.

MBBS fees in India
In India, pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree is a dream for many aspiring medical professionals. However, the journey towards obtaining this prestigious qualification is often fraught with financial challenges. The fees associated with MBBS programs in India have been a subject of debate, with concerns raised about accessibility and affordability. This article delves into the various factors influencing MBBS fees in India, prevailing trends, and the controversies surrounding this issue.
Factors Influencing MBBS Fees
Infrastructure Costs
Medical colleges require state-of-the-art facilities including laboratories, libraries, and equipment to ensure quality education and training for students. The establishment and maintenance of such infrastructure incur substantial costs, which are often reflected in the form of higher tuition fees.
Faculty and Staff Salaries
Qualified faculty and staff are essential for delivering quality medical education. Medical colleges need to offer competitive salaries to attract and retain skilled professionals, thereby contributing to the overall cost structure.
Accreditation and Affiliation
Accreditation from regulatory bodies such as the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the National Medical Commission (NMC) is crucial for medical colleges to maintain standards and credibility. Compliance with regulatory requirements and affiliation with recognized universities entail certain expenses, which may be passed on to students through fees.
Operational Expenses
Running a medical college involves various operational expenses including utilities, maintenance, administrative costs, and student services. These expenses contribute to the overall cost of education and are factored into the fee structure.
Research and Development
Many medical colleges engage in research and development activities to advance medical knowledge and innovation. Funding such initiatives requires financial resources, which may impact the fee structure for MBBS programs.
Trends in MBBS Fees
Differential Fee Structure
Across India, there exists a wide variation in MBBS fees among different medical colleges. Government colleges generally have lower tuition fees compared to private institutions. Additionally, some states subsidize education in government medical colleges, further reducing the financial burden on students.
Annual Fee Escalation
Over the years, MBBS in India have witnessed an upward trend, with colleges frequently revising their fee structures. Factors such as inflation, rising operational costs, and the need for infrastructure upgrades contribute to this escalation.
Entrance Examinations and Merit-Based Aid
Entrance examinations such as NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) serve as a gateway for admission to MBBS programs in India. Meritorious students may be eligible for scholarships, fee waivers, or subsidized education based on their performance in these exams, thereby promoting meritocracy and equal opportunity.
Cross-Subsidization
In many private medical colleges, higher fees charged to self-financing or management quota students subsidize the education of those admitted through government quotas or reserved categories. This cross-subsidization model aims to ensure inclusivity while sustaining the financial viability of institutions.
Controversies Surrounding MBBS Fees
Affordability and Accessibility
The high cost of MBBS in India education poses a significant barrier for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, limiting their access to quality medical education. This exacerbates existing disparities in the healthcare workforce and undermines efforts towards achieving universal health care goals.
Commercialization of Education
Critics argue that the commercialization of medical education in India has led to exorbitant fees in private colleges, prioritizing profit over the social mission of education. This commodification may compromise the integrity and ethics of medical practice, as students burdened with debt may prioritize financial gain over patient welfare.
Lack of Transparency
The opacity surrounding fee structures and admission processes in some private medical colleges has raised concerns about accountability and fairness. Instances of capitation fees and under-the-table payments further erode trust in the education system and perpetuate inequities.
Regulatory Challenges
Despite efforts to regulate MBBS fees through statutory bodies like the MCI or NMC, enforcement mechanisms may be inadequate, allowing colleges to exploit regulatory loopholes and engage in fee hikes arbitrarily. Strengthening regulatory oversight and ensuring transparency in fee fixation are essential to address this challenge.
Conclusion
The issue of MBBS in India is multifaceted, influenced by various economic, social, and regulatory factors. While the pursuit of quality medical education requires adequate funding, it is imperative to strike a balance between affordability and sustainability to ensure equitable access for all aspiring healthcare professionals. Addressing the root causes of fee escalation, promoting transparency and accountability, and exploring innovative financing mechanisms are essential steps towards making MBBS education more inclusive and accessible to diverse socio-economic backgrounds.

The Controversy Surrounding Direct Admissions:
Critics argue that direct admissions through donations compromise the principles of meritocracy and fairness in the educational system. They contend that this practice allows individuals with financial means to secure coveted seats, potentially denying more deserving candidates who may lack the financial resources to make such contributions.
Supporters of direct admissions through donations, on the other hand, assert that this system provides much-needed financial support to educational institutions, enabling them to enhance infrastructure, faculty quality, and overall educational experience. They argue that such contributions are essential for the survival and growth of institutions, especially in a time when funding gaps and financial constraints are prevalent.

One of the primary concerns associated with direct admissions through donations is the potential impact on students who have worked hard to achieve academic excellence. Critics argue that the existence of such practices undermines the efforts of meritorious students and erodes the credibility of the education system, leading to a loss of faith in the fairness of admissions.
In response to these concerns, BMS College of Engineering has taken steps to reinforce its commitment to meritocracy. The institution emphasizes the importance of transparent and ethical admissions, encouraging students to trust the established processes and discouraging any attempts to manipulate the system through financial means.

Legal and Ethical Implications:
The debate surrounding direct admissions through donations raises questions about the legal and ethical dimensions of such practices. While there may not be explicit legal prohibitions against making financial contributions to educational institutions, ethical considerations come into play when the process undermines the principles of fairness and equal opportunity.

Educational authorities and policymakers must address these concerns by implementing and enforcing stringent regulations to prevent the exploitation of the admissions process. Institutions like BMS College of Engineering should actively collaborate with regulatory bodies to ensure that their admission procedures are transparent, accountable, and free from undue external influences.

The admission process in RVCE typically involves a combination of merit-based selection through entrance exams like the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), or the COMEDK UGET (Consortium of Medical, Engineering, and Dental Colleges of Karnataka Undergraduate Entrance Test), as well as through the management quota, also known as capitation.
In the capitation or management quota system, a certain percentage of seats in private educational institutions like RVCE are reserved for students who are willing to pay a higher fee, often without requiring them to meet the stringent academic criteria set for regular admissions. This practice is controversial and has sparked debates about equity, fairness, and the commercialization of education.

Admissions through capitation can be lucrative for colleges, as they provide an additional source of revenue beyond the regular tuition fees. However, they have been criticized for favoring affluent students who can afford the higher fees, thus perpetuating socio-economic disparities and compromising the principles of meritocracy and equal opportunity.
The process and transparency of capitation admissions can vary between institutions and are subject to regulations imposed by government authorities and educational governing bodies like the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Despite efforts to regulate and monitor the practice, instances of malpractice, such as under-the-table deals and seat blocking, have been reported in some cases.

Critics argue that capitation admissions undermine the credibility and reputation of educational institutions, as they prioritize financial means over academic merit, potentially compromising the quality of education and research output. Moreover, the prevalence of capitation admissions can erode public trust in the education system and exacerbate concerns about corruption and inequality.

In conclusion, while capitation admissions provide colleges with additional funding, they raise ethical, social, and educational concerns. Efforts to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in the admission process are essential to uphold the integrity of educational institutions and promote equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their financial background.
