I figured I might as well make a Foldletta master post here because this AU eats away at my brain from time to time; technically her name is Suletta Pulone Du Noc, but it's mildly easier to call her Foldletta, Ericht's 13th clone that ended up as a memoryless orphan on Earth after displaying "failures" in her genetic code. Suletta is the only name she remembers, so she starts calling herself that.
Terrorist found family is a very important dynamic that's core to the Foldletta canon. Sophie found Suletta abandoned on the streets and took her into the Fold as sister, eventually introducing her to Norea and forming an ever deeper bond between the three of them.
Foldletta still has the kind and caring personality of Suletta, it's just that she's got a lot of reasons to hate other people (Spacians) and is a lot more direct and ruthless about using violence as a way to keep her family and friends safe.
Another important dynamic is Suletta (Pulone Du Noc) going to Asticassia with Nika and despising Suletta (Mercury) when they first meet for very obvious reasons; having her face, what she believes to be an easier childhood, and a Gundam that doesn't hurt her feeds into Pulone's jealousy, especially because Mercury is capable of being kind and accepting to anyone, no matter if they're Spacian or Earthian, something that Pulone struggles with daily.
Both Sulettas are like the Sun and Moon, and Pulone hates that Mercury is able to still be as shine as much as she does even after going through all sorts of horrible experiences, especially because they are both clones of the same person. She does eventually warm up to Mercury, but still feels vastly inferior to her and ultimately undeserving of her kindess.
After their first meeting, Earth House (and pretty much everyone in Asticassia) starts having to differentiate between Sulettas by using their surnames.
And the last dynamic that's core to this AU is Suletta and Nika, childhood friends separated by circumstances outside of their control but reunited by a chance encounter at a Permet space elevator heading for Asticassia. She takes the Lfrith Fehu along with her in the pretense of "being ready for an operation" so she can enroll in the piloting course and stay together with Nika. Y'know, the things friends do.
In this canon, the Lfrith Fehu is the third Gundam-type mobile suit built alongside the Lfrith Ur and the Lfrith Thorn. It's main design cues were used in the Gundvölva's development, and the unmanned mobile suits had details altered based on the Fehu's combat data obtained in Asticassia's duels. It's distinct weapons are the Tempest Blade, a rifle-saber, and the Beam Repeaters, a pair of automatic hand-held weapons. It's also equiped with the standard-issue Ochs Earth shield on it's right arm, and the Phased Array Cannon like the Ur and Thorn.
The Fehu is colored red, thus making it three times as fast a normal Gundam /j
Hopefully having THIS up leads me to not forgetting details from time to time...

if I had a nickel for every sidequest involving Sophie and the death of a child/childlike humanoid I'd have... wait 5 nickels?? jesus christ Sophie I'm so sorry 😟
#dolphin plays graces again#to list em all first there's Moira the daughter of a rich family in Yu Liberte. Her mother thinks Sophie *is* Moira#...because she's refusing to accept the truth that her daughter died. You have to go find her bones in the desert 😟#Then there's Lara the girl who collects plushies. I never finished that one in my first playthrough so I didnt know the ending#SHE WAS A GHOST THE WHOLE TIME WTF???????#That quest even ends w Sophie apologizing to Asbel for disappearing in front of him 7 years ago bc now she's lost someone that way 💔😭#there's an unnamed ancient Fodran girl who's bratty but gives Sophie a flower brooch to make her feel more human#and then is PROMPTLY killed by a monster 😅 rip#There's Lambda's humanoid body you find at the crash site. After he explodes Sophie wants to bury him 😭#And finally there's the humanoid whose parts wear out while the others are searching for replacements#She says she's jealous of Sophie for being more human-like but she also seems to have a soul. She has a will to live anyway 😭#That's the only one w a happy ending tho! In another quest Pascal can put her memory drive into a new humanoid she made#And that's how you unlock Mecha Sophie :)#But my god why are all of Sophie's quests so fucking sad. This game is usually so silly but they like to make Sophie suffer 😭#But in L&L Sophie gets a sidequest witnessing the birth of a baby!! feels extra poignant now 💜#I mean that quest is meant to go w the themes of that arc. It's called Lineage and Legacies for a reason 😅#But also god the girl really deserves to witness some life after all of this death 😭😭😭

Mobile Suit Gundam - The Witch From Mercury Season 2 Episode 5: The Prodigal Son Returns
Man oh man oh man. Where to even begin. The best character arc of a deuteragonist/side character within easily the last year? The shifting tides that pull Suletta under its surface? The kickass mecha fights? All the various plotting and scheming that forms countless webs? There's a lot to this episode, but the vast majority of it is placed under Guel and Suletta, and for incredibly good reason.
I oh so desperately want to talk about Guel Jeturk and his character arc through GWitch, but I really do need to start with Suletta. Right from the get go, Miorine is helping us establish the issues of Suletta. It's almost a bit of a slander episode for the poor girl, and by the end I think you'll agree that it's a pretty incredible choice to make.
Anyways, we start with Suletta excitedly waiting for Miorine outside her room before consistently walking behind Miorine. Behind her in the hallways, behind her on the stairs, and in all sorts of camera angles. The pair have had that distance bubble up between them from earlier conversations, but here it's Miorine creating that gap.
This was also an interesting addition in terms of layouts and conversation. Suletta is still behind Miorine of course, but there's a mobile suit that walks by in the background, providing the audible footsteps of its massive frame while Suletta talks about celebrating a birthday. It very strongly speaks to the out of place nature of Suletta's constant positivity in the current outlook and nature of Astacassia.
Then, we get some here and there pieces about Grassley plotting with Peil to lead the Benerit Group, and Elan five trying to get Suletta to give him Aerial. Sorta the usual stuff, but we kick things off from there. Suletta enters a duel with Guel, where Aerial is up for collateral. Miorine and Guel (and even Ericht) end up plotting against Suletta in the duel, forcing her to lose.
This loss builds directly off of Miorine's conversations with Prospera, and even her interactions with Suletta herself during the beginning of the episode. Miorine hates that Suletta is so easily controlled by her mother, and that she's entirely blinded by what she's been given. An undefeatable mobile suit, friends and people that will flock to her, comfort and happiness to push through the darker moments. She hasn't said a single word of Sophie dying in an earlier episode, but will excitedly move towards planning a birthday for someone.
Her mother has her and Aerial strung up like puppets, and Miorine so intensely desires to break that, to allow Suletta to be free and her own person. It's just that, in doing so, they essentially have to break Suletta apart. Rip her from her sister Aerial who has protected her, wrench Suletta from Prospera's hand, and completely isolate her from all that she's known. They're basically pulling a Bob on Suletta and I'm 100% here for it.
Speaking of Bob/Guel. Absolutely best boy of the season and year, incredible character arc, impeccable style, and talents and abilities that stand up to the early makings of a God. His name should be screamed from the rooftops to celebrate his story.
It's just so amazing. He comes back with purpose, with resolve. Not for himself alone, but for his brother, his family. His house. He wants to bring back his company's golden age, give his father something to look down on with a smile, something that could earn his father's pride.
And where does he get this resolve? None other than Suletta. The girl that's had everything in her life, the girl that's embarrassed Guel on more than one occasion. He takes the words of this girl that has been manipulated beyond belief, and finds his own strength in them. His own resolve that places Suletta in his shadow, and moves forward. He moves past death, his failures, his inability to save those around him. He looks towards his future with hope, and the strength to turn his dreams into a reality. It's just so incredibly beautiful and strong. This man had lost it all. He lost the position of holder, he was expelled from school, he killed his own father, had a young innocent girl die in his arms. And now, he's come back to school to reclaim his crown and forge his own path in life. I can't get enough of it, I really can't. Such an incredible character arc told with such little screen time. Guel deserves the world, and by God he's gonna reach out and grab it with his own two hands.
Also, this moment of his duel with Suletta is beyond amazing. They consistently point out his aversion to piloting a mobile suit. Of how the last two times he was in one, someone has died. He feels sick, his head's spinning and he breaks out into cold sweats. He freezes up, forced to relive his trauma and deepest terrors. It's such a wonderful depiction of it, that is complemented by various other standpoints, like the aversion that one girl expresses to the fight.
But the crowning moment of this duel, is a single moment of fear from Guel. He's frozen up in the cockpit as Suletta bears down on him, solely focused on winning for Miorine. He can't do anything, he sees his father's mobile suit before his eyes, it too bearing down on him, intent on killing him. And it's not some "strength" that pulls him out of this spiral, it's not Guel's willpower alone that snaps him out of it. It's his resolve. His resolve to hold onto the present, to keep those around him close to his heart, to make sure he can do all that he can to live up to who he wants to be. It's the cries of his friends, of his brother and the people in his house, that give him that resolve. Far from it for this moment to be "the power of friendship" though, it's a piece of solidarity and support that speaks to greater depths than pure "friendship", and is yet another amazing aspect to this story.
All in all, just another astonishingly wonderful episode. We're back in the school setting, but we haven't lost a lot of that edge that we gained from the excursion to Earth. Stakes are still high as blood runs a deep crimson and tensions rise among factions and groups. Guel comes to reclaim his crown as holder, and in doing so perfectly breaks apart Suletta with the help of Miorine. We begin a downwards tumble for the Mercurian Witch, and it seems like it's just the beginning of ripping the threads that Prospera carefully placed within Suletta out.

Who I like more Grachi vs Every witch way:
Emma > Grachi
I think Grachi is a sweet person, but she lacks personality. She is sometimes quite irritating because she's so good, not to mention that sometimes she's either stupid or self-righteous, and I also hate what she did to Matilda (Maddie) in the first The season is already with Emma, she is very temperamental and intelligent, she can solve problems that Grachi would take episodes of quickly in minutes, I also like the fact that Emma has a lot more personality she is bold and sassy and I definitely love that.
Maddie = Matilda
I have pros and cons for both of them, I don't really like Maddie, from 3-4 I feel like she didn't make much of a difference in the show, Matilda is a very notable character in the seasons she's present (she left in season 2 That's about 120 chapters ) I think they are both bad friends, but Maddie was a good friend with Sophie, Between the two, I prefer Matilda because I think she's much more charismatic than Maddie, Don't get me wrong maddie was a sweetheart.
Daniel Miller > Daniel Esquivel
I'm not Daniel's biggest fan, they are both good friends, and good sons/brothers, most definitely Daniel Miller is a WAY better boyfriend than Daniel Esquivel, I would NEVER date someone like Daniel Esquivel in real life, Daniel Miller if it weren't for the magic thing and everything, maybe I would date Daniel from Grachi was a jerk with both Matilda and Grachi, in the 1st season he WAS DATING during the first 10 episodes with Matilda and he was simply in love with Grachi and flirting and not breaking up with Matilda, and when Mia appeared he did the same , he even CHEATED on Grachi and she NEVER knew, I just can't stand this boy and I also can't stand the way he gets irritated with Grachi because she has more male friends, but he has a best friend (Mia) who is always causing problems for him he simply defends her even though he knows about the spider thing, even though she TRYING TO KILL the grachi, in short he is one of the worst boyfriends on a children's show I've ever seen.
Mia Black = Mia Novoa
A lot of people don't like the fact that mia is a kanay in every witch way, but I just LOVED this idea, In the original she was just obsessed with being Daniel's girlfriend and being willing to kill Grachi, in eww she was a kanay (and not a witch like in grachi) this gave her a better story of a girl who lost her parents very early, and had to grow up running away from witches to protect herself this made her grow up without feeling opening up to anyone, daniel was genuinely the first person she opened up to, so she started to fall in love with him, I think this is much better than love at first sight, like mia(grachi) and daniel, The problem is that they didn't know how to develop the character in season 4, like you could do so many cool things with Mia, like she could be the Chosen One of the kanays, that would explain why she's been a very powerful kanay since she was 7 years old.
Diego Rueda < Diego forlán
I find Diego's character annoying in Every Witch Way, it's as if he didn't have any history after he started dating Maddie, don't get me wrong I LOVE MIEGO but they basically made him just Maddie's puppy, in Grachi he has more personality and doesn't spend all his time with Matilda, he has more plot and is better developed.
Andi > Mecha
Both are loyal and good friends, but Andi is MUCH better as a guardian than mecha, but any guardian of every witch way wins for those of grachi, I like Andi's personality much more than Mecha, Mecha in 1-2 basically only humiliated herself to men, in 3 she really changed and that was good.
Jax = Axel
They basically have the same personality, but Jax used magic to cheat, Axel doesn't like cheating and the only time he did it was out of pressure to please his father. I just love them both, which makes the difference between the ending and Jax giving up on the plan with And, Axel didn't do that. something very noticeable is the fact that Jax doesn't seem to care about what his father wants, as if he followed his father's plan but didn't seem to care about his father, equally Jake didn't care about him before Jessie appeared in Eww . In Grachi, it's as if Axel needed his father's approval to live as an emotional dependency, but I find this compressible considering that even though he lived under the same roof, his father didn't care about him, and always despised him and demanded more from him and the At the same time he was praising, being kind and understanding towards his sister Amaya, like imagine you growing up with your sister/brother being favorite and you being despised, honestly to this day I wonder how Axel didn't feel angry at Amaya or his father, I just couldn't stand them, to be honest I know Jax grew up alone and all, but everything got better after Jessie, but in Grachi, I just hate their one-sided relationship, like Axel was a great brother to her(amaya), but she was bad with him.
Jessie > Amaya
They have totally different stories because Jessie is an 11 year old child and Amaya is only 1 year younger than Axel (teenager) I simply prefer Jessie for 2 reasons: 1 she was a good sister, 2 - I like her whole plot in wits academy
#every witch way#Grachi#Nickelodeon#Axel velez#jax novoa#mia black#Daniel miller#Maddie Van Pelt#Diego Rueda#Danilo carrera#Matilda Román

What are the chances of Ariel moving without the need of a pilot?
Oh yeah, that is DEFINITELY going to happen sooner or later XD
Like it's already a pretty classic mecha trope and with all of the MASSIVE foreshadowing to Aerial being sentient, I'd say it's only a matter of time before we get some big moment where Suletta is in danger outside and Aerial activates on her own to protect her.
Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if we see that happen next episode...
I mean, imagine Suletta gets captured and Sophie and Norea call up Prospera for an exchange or just taunting for the lulz... and Aerial hears this and proceeds to pull an EVA Unit 01 and just starts WRECKING THEIR SHIT.

normal woman squad
I assume normally to get signed on to a top secret military project you would need to pass some kind of mental health screening but I feel like these three failed theirs
purple is emily, the mecha she pilots is echo. orange is freya, her mecha is foxtrot. and green is sophie who pilots sierra
I think in this setting kaiju appeared and people started building mecha bc of course but it was slow going bc it was hard for a single person to pilot a mecha but multiple people couldn't work in unison. the two paths of research were neural implants to get people working together like pacific rim and then also putting kaiju parts in mecha and it was the second that had a breakthrough first. the soul of the kaiju animates the mecha and makes it semi-autonomous so that the pilot becomes more of a guide than a controller. but out of fear of kaiju instincts taking over they designed them to imprint on humans and follow the orders of their particular human above all else. the mecha have human-level intelligence and don't exactly think that they're humans but they don't know what they are and are programmed to become attached to their human partners
the pilots were all recruited from normal mecha programs so they had experience piloting mecha that didn't have kaiju bones in them but freya's the only one who was an active anti-kaiju combatant. emily was doing more disaster relief and sophie was transporting supplies

[Witch From Mercury season 2 spoilers and theorizing]
I'm wondering if Sophie will be Gundam Zeta'd maybe, because of how what happened happened, we'll have to see...
And because of the way Prospera said "She's waiting for us beyond the data storm" I'm assuming her plan is to... turn everyone into data? Normal mecha villain stuff. And that will make [redacted] happy because she'll have company? If it is that it will be a bit predictable, but this plot twist was predictable, and it's not a bad thing for things that are foreshadowed to be true!

My Review : Kuromukuro (2016)
So I have just watched this criminally underrated mecha anime over the weekend and I just can’t get enough of it! I’m very surprised that such anime doesn’t get much media coverage as compared to the popular ones like Gundam and Evangelion. This is a hidden gem that deserves another season!
WHAT IS IT ABOUT *contain spoilers*
It follows a student of Tateyama International High School girl named, Yukina Shirahane and a young Samurai named, Kennosuke Tokisada Ouma, who was born in the Sengoku Jidai but mysteriously re-awakened in the present day.
Yukina goes to school located at a United Nations Military Research Facility where her mother, Hirame Shirahane, is the Chief Researcher and lead designer of the currently under development “GAUS (Gravity Attenuated Upright Shell)”, units that are two-seater mecha operated by a pilot and navigator.
Over 450 years ago during Sengoku Jidai, an extraterrestrial force called Efi Dorg invades Earth. The Washiba Clan falls victim to them, but the clan heir, Princess Yukihime and her samurai retainer Kennosuke Tokisada Ouma piloted a stolen Efi Dorg mecha, the "Black Relic" (黒骸, Kuromukuro).
Outnumbered and outmatched, the duo lost the fight which results in Kennosuke dying and Yukihime captured by a demon-like creature. What he saw traumatized him for life when he re-awakened at present and the sight of the familiar looking alien invaders triggers his hunger for vengeance.
60 years ago, the “Black Relic” aka Kuromukuro was unearthed during the construction of Kurobe Dam. In the present day, the United Nations Kurobe Laboratory is researching it when Efi Dorg returns to Earth for the second time since its first appearance during Sengoku Jidai.
Yukina accidentally reactivates the cockpit module of the Black Relic, releasing Kennosuke from cryostasis and awakening him. The duo inevitably find themselves piloting the mecha in their defense of the UN Facility against the alien invaders as Kennosuke is determined to kill them with extreme prejudice.
Kennosuke is perplexed by Yukina’s uncanny resemblance to Yukihime, whom he fought alongside with and lost. He struggles to make sense of what is happening when he learns that he just awakened 450 years after Sengoku Jidai and blames himself for his failure in protecting the Clan Princess he served.
The rest of the story is about him adjusting to life in the 21st century, with the help of Yukina, her family and friends, while at the same time, training to be a more skillful mecha pilot of the Black Relic to defend Earth from the invaders. And above all, the find his new purpose as a Samurai in this new era.
Meanwhile, the UN Security Council still doubt his claims of being a man out of time, fearing him to be an alien invader sent on a covert reconnaissance mission and so placed him under strict surveillance and control by wearing a wired collar which will activate an electric shock if he does anything suspicious.
Along the way, he get to know several pilots from various countries such as Tom Border (USA), Liu Shenmei (China), Sophie Noël (France), Toshiyuki "Sebastian" Mozumi (Japan) who trained tirelessly to pilot the new GAUS mecha which are developed based on the original “Black Relic” mecha.
I love the chemistry they share and the camaraderie they develop over the course of the series, from doubting to respecting and trusting each other in the fight against a common enemy, getting rid of their respective agendas or personal reasons to fight, with a common goal to protect humanity.
Despite the overall serious tone and some dark moments, there are lighthearted and relaxing moments as well where it shows them going about their daily lives when there are no alien incursions, going to scenic places which really look like the real countryside of Japan. (Even Kurobe Dam actually exists in real life!)
And like every “political” anime, there’s always the ugly side of bureaucracy with soldiers “obeying” orders. There are certain scenes which make my blood boil, seeing how they treat “suspects” like terrorists despite what they have done to protect the innocent simply because they are seen as a threat.
One such scene is Muetta, a former enemy mecha pilot who realized she’s been deceived by her alien masters and betrayed by her alien comrade. She turned over to fight with the humans, to which the UN Security Council gladly accepted but later turned on her after the battle was over, fearing her true intentions.
It hurts to see her finally learning to enjoy the true meaning of freedom and happiness, making friends and letting go of her tragic past, only to be controlled and treated as an experiment prisoner, and only used as a weapon to defend Earth against the invaders, despite the objections of fellow mecha pilots.
Seeing how powerless the mecha pilots are including Kennosuke and Yukina who tried desperately to free Muetta, Mika used the power of the media to rally the public in a protest to free Muetta as the public demanded an explanation in treating a fellow hero and defender of Earth as a prisoner. (This sparks joy!)
It reminds me of Marvel’s Civil War, as to why Captain America refuse to support the U.N. Accords as he believes they are being run by people with agendas and agendas change. This anime even show the arms race in developing mecha by countries worldwide using a possible alien invasion as a pretext.

This series is definitely worth watching! Give it a try and watch the first two episodes at least, and you’ll be curious to know more about it. It consists of two seasons with a total of 26 episodes. Judging by the ending, there will definitely be a third one, sooner or later.
