I gradually underestimated how crazy things were going to get, and not to mention Suguru is basically my spirit animal, so, I see this entirely as a win. So far 20/10!

Rating 500+ Theme Tunes - #5: Ultimate Muscle

Wrestling and anime is such a beautiful tag team to be seen so rarely. Ultimate Muscle is the localised name for Kinnikuman: Second Generation, which is actually a sequel to the original Kinnukuman. The original never reached the West outside of some weird M.U.S.C.L.E. toys, but this sequel was localised for the FoxBox block, a.k.a 4Kids, as well as airing on Kix and other channels internationally. It follows Kid Muscle and other superhero wrestlers continuing the legacy of their famous parents.

For the number one wrestling fan you know, I actually didn't watch that much Ultimate Muscle. However, that was still a good deal, and was not for a lack of trying. This show aired on Kix over here in the UK, which I would often watch whenever there was nothing on its sister channel Pop. This show's airing schedule there never really lined up for me, and I would often miss it as a result.

At the same time, I thought this show was real cool! I really like the way it looks today, and I always enjoyed the outlandish takes on the world of wrestling! So many of Kid Muscle's moves are super cool to be honest with you. I would absolutely love to watch through this one today, even if some of the humour and tone are not exactly aimed at me. I just love a cool wrestling story!

Ultimate Muscle Theme Tune

This theme song is absolutely ridiculous. Giant brassy notes, endless rhymes, "Strength and speed and... flatulence?". Absolutely no notes. I think it's super super goofy, but I gotta be honest with you: I love it and it works. Say what you will about it as a dub, but this song fits that dub to a tee as far as I remember. It's a really catchy tune too, I'm always singing it to myself with all the different voices they incorporate, all four of them. Mike Pollock as Meat, you will always be famous. It's a truly wild song, but I think you simply have to love it. You can't make SIX consecutive rhymes without being somewhat beloved.

This one might be controversial, but I actually think this is getting an A! I promise there's some themes I dislike...

Perfect Origin Arc out here making me completely revamp my old Kinnikuman OC hahaaa~

Kokomi Tenshine, aka the Misplaced Magical Girl! Actually don't call her that, she'll get mad-

One of the special chosen few whose hearts have been awakened by the cries of the people, and as such, is in training to be a fully fledged Magical Girl!

...oh wait what? Japan's already being protected by some Chojin guy? She's not needed? She's- she's good? ...BUT THAT'S HER JOB?!?

A frustrated and stubborn young girl who take pleasure in torturing Suguru for stealing her job and rendering her useless. She usually shows up in Beverly Park, demanding he pay her "fines" so she can keep living her life without fulfilling her duties.

It's hard to ignore her, especially when her equally as useless mentor Fae-chan is in tow.

In truth, she doesn't actually hate him at all- it's thanks to him she can live her life like a semi-normal-preteen girl! She shows up to his fights plenty of times, claiming to want to see him fail, but is truthfully rooting for him; this is the guy who's stepping up for her! She has to make sure he looks good!

She ends up becoming one of the Chojin's allies, as her powers are helpful. Especially when so many of them end up nearly dying and you've got a girl who's an ace at healing. Neither she nor Fae-chan were expecting her to become a professional necromancer instead of a Magical Girl, but, that's okay.

These guys are the only real friends she has, at the end of the day. Like a group of weird older brothers...

Gets into lots of petty fights with Meat about almost everything. Very interested in everyone's love lives. Likes gossiping and usually needs to be bribed into not blabbing things she knows to others.

It's time!

December Box is bringin' a spirit of some sort. Odds are it ain't the holiday kind, but we'll see what I can squeeze out of it.

For instance, the festive colors on those Kong Hong bugs. The red is more of a pink, but it's a fresh sculpt for me. The roaches are always fun, as is the gator jiggler. That styracosaurus deserves special mention for his striking color scheme.

Okay, I thought I had all the "Power Belts" sculpts, and BAM, they throw a spider at me. That's cool. Either skeleton is a robe away from playing the Ghost of Christmas Future in a small-town production.

The meat of this one, really, is The Faces. Breaking their previous record of two, I'm particularly enamored with what's either Smeagol or an early hominid on the right there. Tiki Heads pose an issue, as my twin pillars have already hit the top of the shelf. Time to start the next level! The Kin-knockoff-man figures are fun as always: Kinnikuman himself, and one-shot movie villain The Black King. I guess it's down to Gokey here. I guess he could be the donkey in a ridiculous nativity scene?

Pranks, folded in with Arts because they would've looked lonely by themselves: a Shoe Squeaker that has far better applications- a doorstop, a toilet seat, the back of a drawer- and another Finger. The hologram Troll sticker is so 90s it hurts, but in a good way. Another Monster is joined by a bicolored Cousin Itt, but the 3/4 rubber skeleton skull is honestly super cool in black resin. Incidentally, this is the box that officially filled The Rack.

chapter one

Suguru grumbled sulking as if he were a child, being scolded. “All that Gyudon gone to waste” he muttered clearly not happy, His large fingers pressed deeply into his head, almost threatening to break it with the amount of pressure he was using. Amongst all of Suguru’s groaning he didn’t hear the girly snickers from above him, before a torso hung low from the ceiling. Scaring the young prince, as the color drained from his face.

It was a teenage girl who was clearly a teen. They had dark blonde hair with red tips(both of these seemed to be clearly dyed) that had been badly curled at the bottom frying it. her hair was let loose, but had multiple layers. She wore a white button up shirt, with a gold crest on it being the symbol of a rose., A gray skort, tights, paired with white Leg warmers and had a blazer wrapped around her waist

Suguru let out a loud high pitched scream that made the teenager cringe, her ears hurting at the loud frequency. “Delinquent!” Shouted Suguru as he shook in terror, a yellow spot appearing on his white underwear. Making the girl Gag, turning her head quickly. 

“Eww! Disgusting!” The girl squealed, dropping off the ceiling? And somehow landing on her two feet. Suguru shook as he backed away from the girl, pleading with her not to hurt him, causing her to roll her olive coloured eyes clearly annoyed at him. 

“Are you Suguru? I’m Mitsuki by the way” Mitsuki asked, before introducing herself to the man-baby, she was about to offer him her hand until he blew snot all over his own hands before he freaked out and began to shake his arms in the air, trying to throw it off of him.

“Disgusting, utterly disgusting” She muttered to herself, she was surprised when Suguru suddenly stood up, his back straightened acting as if he were the most respected man in the world. “Yes! It is me! Kinniku Suguru! Aka Kinnikuman! Awesome hero, and a prince! The future King of Kinniku Planet” The chojin boasted before he began to pose.

The Gyaru, raised an eyebrow before she got something out of her pocket, they were sweets, the chewy kind. They unwrapped it, before quickly swallowing it whole without chewing. Suguru sweatdropped at this. “You’re a weirdo, you’re supposed to chew your food, not swallow it like a snake!”

“Why would I listen to you? You literally just peed your pants-” She threw another sweet in her mouth, swallowing it before licking her lips. Suguru shivered, she really did remind him of a snake. The piercing she gave him, like a snake that looked at Mice before it pounced. The fact she could just swallow the sweets too, and didn’t need to chew, sure they were just weird quirks but it felt so off.

Suguru began to stare at her more, something didn’t make sense even to him. She didn’t Look like a chojin, but the way she acted was definitely off! And the more Suguru wondered, the more he realized, how the hell did she get back here? Normally Suguru would use these hallways to run away from Meat when things got tough. Their hallways were all twisted, long, and branched off so it was perfect. But how did she get here? She didn’t seem rich, she was a school kid for god sake. Suguru figured she must have snuck in.

“You do know this is the backstage for the elite of the elite right?” 

“Then why are you here?”

Ouch. Even a delinquent like Mitsuki, didn’t even seem to respect Suguru.Suguru, Sulked sitting in the corner of the room, his knees to his chest. How could Mitsuki not even know that he was a good fighter? Surely his face had to have been plastered everywhere? And yet Mitsuki didn't seem to care about that, as their face tightened, their lips turning into a scowl as they rolled their eyes. They didn’t want to be near him any more.

Suguru titled his head up giving a small “huh?” as he watched her turn around and walk away,seemingly ignoring his very existence. Now that was strange. Oh well, he didn’t expect to see more of them anyway.
