More pushback... keep it going, but don't leave it to politicians and public personalities. Get involved locally and huddle up to get your voice out there.

via Six Childhood Scourges We’ve Forgotten About, Thanks to Vaccines - The New York Times
Vaccines are entirely the reason these diseases are no longer a problem.
Imagine sitting in your house while it’s raining saying, “I dunno, it’s pretty dry in here! Roofs aren’t natural, do we really need one?”
Get a titer test done ASAP.

Back in 2016, I had a hard time wrapping my head around people being okay with giving literal avowed NAZIs cabinet posts. Now it's 2024, and I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around has mass murdered children before and is openly promising to mass murder them on a even grander scale not being universally considered disqualifying, but here we are in the bad timeline looking at senators on both sides of the aisle being okay with the mass murder of children thing.

it’s still hilariously ironic to me that i, someone who has been medically advised against getting the MMR vaccine* (you know, the one from that bogus withdrawn study about the vaccine-autism link?), am autistic.

MMWR Booster #22: Measles, Mumps, Rubella Vaccine (PRIORIX): Recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices — United States, 2022
Top 5 Takeaways
1. PRIORIX, a new MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine, has been licensed and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) in the United States as an additional option alongside the existing M-M-R II vaccine. 2. The ACIP's recommendation is based on a systematic review of PRIORIX's safety and immunogenicity, indicating its noninferiority to M-M-R II. 3. Both PRIORIX and M-M-R II are considered interchangeable for all recommended MMR vaccinations, including off-label uses. 4. The addition of PRIORIX aims to diversify the U.S. vaccine supply and maintain high vaccination coverage, crucial for preventing measles, mumps, and rubella, as well as their associated complications. 5. PRIORIX, like M-M-R II, is recommended for routine and catch-up vaccination in various age groups, with specific guidelines for dosage and administration.

Enjoying these summaries? Check back every day at 8am and 4pm Pacific Time (UTC - 8) for a new MMWR Booster. A reblog would also be greatly appreciated, and thanks to everyone who already has! BroadlyEpi hopes to make Epidemiology and Public Health more approachable to anyone who's interested.

"Quarantined Child 'Contacts' Run Wild, Spread Disease Through City," Vancouver Sun. March 19, 1943. Page 14. ---- Parents Must Keep Suspect Cases Home ---- Hundreds of Vancouver children excluded from classrooms as communicable disease contacts are breaking the quarantine hobbles which should confine them to their own back-yards.
Chief Quarantine Officer Sam Kinniston today issued a reminder to parents that prosecution is possible under the health bylaw unless these children are kept at home.
DANGEROUS TIME "They were sent home from school until we see whether they get the diseases or not, but they are running all over the place," Mr. Kinniston stated. "For their own good, and in the public interest, they should stay at home for the incubation period. Apparently it is not appreciated that the most dangerous time for spreading these diseases is the period just prior to the development of positive cases."
Neighbors, nurses and teachers have reported that the contacts are roving the streets and playgrounds and going to movies and even Sunday School.
PLAY THE GAME In urging parents to "play the game." Mr. Kinniston pointed out that this is the worst season of the year for his department's standpoint. Last week alone 135 cases of measles, 59 of mumps and 15 of chicken pox were re- ported.

The next epidemic could be home grown
Interestingly, in a 1990 SC case that denied religious freedoms to Native Americans and privileged the rights of the gov’t, *Scalia,* the darling of conservatives, says religious beliefs don’t give ppl the right to reject “compulsory vaccination laws.”
