why am I already stressing about the time I'll have to move out. girl you only just bought a wardrobe. chill
#let me explain my thought process:#I had to repaint a tiny section of a wall. because mould.#> it was a pain because i suck at this sort of things#> started thinking: oh god will I have to repaint everything when I move out. I need to check my contract#> my fixed term contract ends in january. now I'm worried about how much they'll raise my rent#> I go “what if I can't afford it. can I even move anywhere else in town”#> I go check rightmove. there's no single flat within my budget in town anymore lol#> now I'm stressed. thinking if I should buy a flat instead. would it be cheaper than renting#> not really lol. property prices have also gone up!#> and even if I found something I'm in a fixed term contract until 2025#> what if I find a flat I could afford to buy but I'm stuck in a fixed term contract?#> I go on reddit to find some answers#> I do not like the answers I find. I am now more stressed than before#normal 20 minutes in my brain.#also I haven't actually checked my contract#oh god will I have to repaint everything when I move out...

such a sad gap in the oasis market with how little images we have of the interior of supernova heights tbh. not to sound crazy or anything like yeah it was his house and shit. (and half of london’s, by the sound of it.) but noel really goes on about how it was some abhorrent palace of rock’n’roll debauchery, cocaine embedded on every surface, etc. i just need some pictures you know?? show me the hideous drug induced design choices neow!! i need them!
#pls correct me if there are any out there#pls also send them my way!!!#i swear all i’ve seen is the reno that david williams did from a rightmove listing#someone notify his management so they can get on this and embezzle more money out of fans in exchange idc#i’ve read descriptions of the crazy deco choices but i honestly can’t remember how much of those were in fics/real 🫠#but i’m pretty sure there were some outrageous ones if i’m not wrong#oasis#noel gallagher

#needed to describe the view from s' flat. once i'd worked out the bus route r would use and the stop he would get off at to reach s' flat#i used google earth to view the street the stop was on (having already checked that the bus route would have run in 1979) and then from#there i scrolled around the nearby streets looking for a nice place where s could live until i found a lovely little street#and then googled that street name looked at a property there on rightmove and thus established the view from his fictional flat xx#will this make any difference to people when reading. no. will it make a difference to ME. yes xx#the street is sooo nice you guys xx its lovely he'll love it there xx#tsah

Hello from Blighty thoughts about Saltburn
As a continuation from my reply to @armands-eyefuckery because BRAIN
Aight gang let's have a lil sit down because there is a big ol angle to the film that I think is getting missed by a lot of folks who aren't from the UK because it's a very uh...
British Thing.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT OLIVER IS FROM THE NORTH.
Cut because Length.
Now look. I am not going to go into Thatcher and Her Crimes, but it's worth a google. I do bring it up in You're Almost Home because...
Lots of people are saying Oliver is upper middle class, and honestly? That doesn't track for me. At all. Yes, his parents have a detached house in a nice suburb and they went on holidays, but there's a lot of Very British Context to them that I really want to point out. Also remember, it's 2006/2007. That is also important.
First of all- Oliver's parents probably never went to University.
Really listen to them. How gullible they are- they believe that Oliver can study at Oxford, and be on the rowing team, and be in plays, and be top scholar. He's always been so clever. If Oliver was anything near upper middle class, his parents would be educated professionals. Oliver probably has dockworkers not even three generations back- his dad has management vibes, but he probably worked his way up in the 70s when all you needed was a good attitude and not to be an obvious murderer.
Secondly- let's talk about the house.
As someone from Down South who has also lived Up North, Oliver's Parent's house would not have been as expensive as people think. Let's assume they bought it in the 1980s- we ALL know that house prices are through the roof NOW, but even today there is a huge gap between house prices in the south and the north. 200k down South might get you a one bedroom flat, if you're lucky. 200k in Prescot can get you a 4-bed, semi-detached HOUSE. Check rightmove.
It is also important that the house is relatively new-looking, because over here Upper Middle Class people aren't really into new build houses- if Oliver was upper middle class, he'd be living in something Victorian or Edwardian. Probably somewhere with a good link to London, especially in 2007. It also means that Oliver's parents may not have even bought it outright- my parents got on the housing ladder via a shared ownership scheme. Oliver's parents aren't rich.
Now, the holidays. Mykonos. Another fun Brit thing is the package holiday. Here's a pretty interesting article about them;
Two adults and three kids could absolutely have gone to Mykonos every year in the late 80s/90s for far less than you'd expect, especially if they paid in installments each month.
I also mentioned about Ollie being from Merseyside specifically, but again. CONTEXT. Although Oliver isn't Liverpudlian (it's important, he's from NEAR Liverpool but not Liverpool itself) the North of England as a whole has routinely been fucked over by those in power. The government AND the royals and the very wealthy. It's still ongoing today- again, another fun source.
Remember when Mr Eats-Crunchies-Sideways called him a Bootlicker? That's fucking IMPORTANT. To many folks he IS a bootlicker. He is highly unlikely to have been raised to grovel at the feet of those with hereditary titles and wealth, and honestly he doesn't. I've written before about how Oliver Denies Felix Things and how that dynamic is important. Oliver likely hasn't been raised with any real deference to The Rich (except Princess Diana).
It also effects Oliver's response to Felix, because goddamn it THATCHER again- it is HIGHLY likely that Oliver has lived through a lot of homophobia. Internalised a lot of it. Felix's parents do not give a shit, but that was not the norm. Again, tried to hit on it in YAH, because times have changed since the 90s/2000s and people change with them, but no fuckin wonder Oliver never responded to Felix chirpsing him like a maniac. He's fucking REPRESSED when he's in Oxford, pals. It also makes sense with that weird Tumblr Dom shit he pulls; he's still fuckin weird about it, he's just being In Charge so he doesn't need to be vulnerable in any way. He is only vulnerable for Felix, and even then he can't SHOW felix that, that would be gay.

Me: I like the Alex rider show just a normal amount
Also me: take rigorous screenshots of all angles of the rider house and research floorplans of the neighbouring irl houses on Rightmove to make detailed notes in order to recreate the house perfectly in the sims
(/I will crack the mysteries of the second floor layout of the rider home. We only see Alex’s room, the view from his door, and the inside of Ian’s office which has two doors, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how they all fit together)

ten people i'd like to get to know better
I was tagged by @daddy-long-legssss and @yellowloid, thank you! 🥰💖
last song: Billie Eilish - Blue
favourite colour: Can never decide between red, blue or purple. Though certain musicians over the past couple of years have instilled a fondness for green in me 😅💚
last book: Have had a bit of a reading slump lately but I re-read 'Song of Achilles' by Madelline Miller and devoured it in a day. I'm currently on annual leave so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to dig into some books on my to-read list, and I've promised myself that I'll start the Lord of the Rings series before the end of the year... In terms of reading fic, I recently read and adored 'Four Walls' by the lovely @uhbasicallyjustmilex 💖
last movie: Saw both The Wild Robot and The Substance at the cinema this week, which were very different movies but I highly loved them both. I suspect I'll be thinking about the latter for a long time.
last TV show: I've been rewatching episodes of Taskmaster in between working on my fic, specifically series 12 as I have a massive crush on Victoria Coren-Mitchell 😅
sweet/spicy/savoury: Spicy, very closely followed by sweet.
relationship status: Happily single, though my best friend did declare us 'platonic soulmates' the other day and proposed buying a house together in Edinburgh 😂 Alas, having looked through Rightmove, we've agreed that moving to Edinburgh is in neither of our financial interests...
last thing I googled: Noyant-la-Gravoyère, for fic-related reasons.
current obsessions: Feel like I've ended up with a ton of mini-obsessions this year as opposed to one major one, but Fontaines D.C. and The Last Dinner Party are fairly high up that list as they've released my favourite albums of the year 💚 I've had a lot of fun digging into the works of Gojira, Kendrick Lamar and Leonard Cohen lately, and Billie Eilish's latest album remains on constant rotation. I've also had a reawakening of my love for David Gilmour, Käärijä and TLSP due to a combination of two amazing gigs and the process of writing my fic.
looking forward to: I have a few gigs coming up which I'm really excited for, including Bob Vylan next week, Kneecap next month and Fontaines D.C. in December 💚 I'm also excited to make more progress on editing my fic and finally unleashing it into the world, even though it's only in that pesky early draft stage for the moment 😅
tagging: @rock-n-roll-fantasy, @aeolianblues, @see-sawed, @thespiritofvexation, @king-of-kaoss, @burn-on-the-flame and @chrysochromulina 💖
#not sure who's already been tagged so I've gone off-format and tagged people I already know decently well 😅#tag game

Frightmove!
We had such a blast playing our newest game, Frightmove*, on stream with our special guest, Helen!
Frightmove is a fun, quick social game about trying to buy/sell/devalue a haunted manor house. One player is the Househunter - they frame the scenes by describing a different room of the house each round - while the other players take the role of the Estate Agent - trying to sell the house - and the Haunting - trying to scare the Househunter away. There's a lot of back-and-forth silliness and (if you use the random tables to generate room features) the house gets worse the more you explore it.
Frightmove is up on our Patreon (along with loads of other great games/stuff), but you can also get the basics from our playthrough.
*For our international friends, Rightmove is a popular property website like Zoopla or Zillow in the UK. It's important to me that you understand that Frightmove is a really good name for this game - S.

This is a Victorian chapel in Walton On The Naze, Great Britain, and it's so cute and so cozy, I've never seen anything like it. It has 4bd 1ba & is listed for £390,000 / $495,532.
I think that the current owner's furnishings really make it look great, but it's still a beautifully done conversion.
There certainly is lots of shelving.
There's a very large kitchen and the cabinetry with black counters reminds me of science classrooms.
The living room is large, but oh-so-cozy.
Here in the central hall are stairs with a lovely railing and beams.
This bedroom is spacious and has some beautifully shaped church windows.
Here's a cozy bedroom.
This bedroom has the mezzanine above. I have to mention that magnificent replica of what I think is the Queen Elizabeth.
The 4th bd is also cozy. There isn't one bd that's not inviting.
There's only 1 bath for 4 bds but it's so cute.
At least the toilet is separate.
I have to say that the mannequin in the mezzanine is a little creepy, otherwise it's nice up here. I wonder what made them use stick-on flooring, since it doesn't wear well.
Here's a little private area. That's a skull on the shelf in the back. I wonder if it conveys.
This is the only outdoor space they show, but even though it's small, it's nice. I can't tell if there's a yard back there.

i would love for an architect or interior designer to explain to me why certain houses just Feel Bad. i was browsing homes on rightmove (sometimes it's fun to pretend you might be able to afford a home one day!) and i came across this one house that made me feel what i can only describe as instinctive dread. like it was a perfectly nice house, good lighting, big rooms, well-kept, but something about it just instilled me with this sense of "nope, no, absolutely fucking not" and i cannot for the life of me put my finger on it.
#be shh now#it's not the first time this has happened!#hostile architecture? i know that's not what that means but#yknow
