Stop. Breathe. Restart.

Percy knows from the moment he wakes that it was no normal dream. You could call it intuition - a rasp at the back of his skull like something’s settling in there. Or maybe sound reason - he’s a bright young man, but plans this precise are beyond his subconscious. 

Or you could call it common sense, because there are black smudges on him that were not there when he bedded down in the alley. 

Alternative hypothesis: something nasty bit him in the night, or some scrape finally got infected, and this spells out his doom. 

But - no. They do not follow veins. They actually spell things out pretty clearly. 

Percy sighs, a ratty thing. Flexes his hand, brings it over the line of morning shadow into tentative light.

We’re starting off strong with a Marvel crossover fanfic wow. Who knew that crossovers could be done tastefully as 2013 Wattpad kind of ruined it for us. However, this fic changed my mind! This fic is funny as fuck and is just a goodass time. I love a good multi-chapter fic (as you’ll soon see) and this one is a showstopper.

With all of the Black Lives Matter protests happening right now, I think that this fic is super relevant. Draco has moved to New York City and is working as a receptionist at a tattoo shop and a mentor for inner city kids, but he accidentally gets forced to work out his differences with Harry, who at this point hates his guts. This fic is pretty serious, tackling themes of mental health, suicide, and police brutality. Every OC in this story is completely lovable and I cried my eyes out many times. When people ask me for a fic reccomendation this is the one I give people. Dare I say that this is my all-time favorite fic.

I mean it’s all fine and wholesome until you get to the kinky sex which is WONDERFULLY WRITTEN MIGHT I ADD! I always say that if porn can make you feel something other than just horny, you’ve found a winner, and this story does just that.

Definitely check all the tags and I mean all the tags before you read this, but this is definitely one of my favorite porn with plot stories.

Might I just say that classics are considered classics for a reason. This is one of those stories that has the vibe of high school summer after senior year where all you do is try to escape reality and figure out your place in the world. While the plot is wonderful and the characters are great, I think what shines the brightest from this story is the writing style. It’s so enchanting and poetic with the best one-liners that make your heart hurt. On my AO3 bookmark i captioned it, “This just ripped my soul in half and restitched it together again,” and I still stand by that.

James and Lily Potter had a secret, one which led to Thanatos saving young Harry from a dreary life with the Dursleys and changed the face of the Second British Wizarding War before it ever began.

This story feels much more like a 12 season television show than a two hour movie if you know what I mean. The plot is pretty slow going but the character development and interation makes it worth it. The story blends the lore and events of the HP and PJO to make a completely new story without making it feel like a goddamn recap. The reader follows Harry from when he’s young all the way into adulthood and it’s a fun time to watch him grow as a character and bond with his parental figures. Also some of the spinoffs are really wild and I never would have thought of the pairings but they just work somehow?? My personal favorite spinoff is the Pirates of Caribbean/Calypso and Leo arc like HELLO?! hot pirates. The total word count of the two series is 465k so beware it takes a hot second to chug through this one.

This one, I don’t know how it’s not considered a classic. I’ve seen it floating around on drarry tumblr and wow is it good. I especially like the detailed magic system and mechanics that Draco is investigating. How the author managed to have so much detailed and gracefully planned out backstory in 30k words is beyond me. Also gentle Dracoo Malfoy is my favorite Draco Malfoy :) absolute angel mode.

Little Compton Street (One Rainy Night in Soho) by LLAP15 and Writcraft

Draco is lonely, Harry hates the press and it won’t stop raining in London. Harry discovers a magical street that’s close to disappearing forever and Draco realises he’s one rainy night in Soho away from finding everything he’s been searching for.

This fic is, in every sense, a masterpiece. Especially for pride month, the story surrounding LGBTQIA+ activism, the AIDS Epidemic of the 80s, and the gentrification of historically queer communities is one that should be read by everyone. Every single place, OC, and historic event has real world ties and is historically accurate, making this fic even more enchanting. Everything about this fic is graceful and slow burning I can’t help but fall in love with it. I’ve only seen this fic once on HP tumblr, but I feel like it should be considered a classic as it is truly a moving piece. This fic is one of the biggest reasons why I became so enthralled with LGBT history and am writing a fic that takes place in a wizarding version of the AIDS epidemic.

When Draco Malfoy encounters a struggling and frustrated Harry desperately trying to tie his shoes after a meltdown in the Great Hall, his curiosity regarding the incident leads him to seek the help of the two people closest to Harry: Ron and Hermione.

After even they are shocked to hear the extent of Harry's issues, though Hermione had her suspicions, he discovers more about the man than he ever thought he knew before.

As a Neurotypical, I found this fic to be absolutely wonderful. I don’t know much about the typical traits of those who are one the autism spectrum and how they affect their everyday lives, but from what I was reading in the comments from those who are on the spectrum or who have family who are, this fic was pretty accurate and realistic. Harry, who lives with aspergers, goes without a known diagnosis until 8th year and it’s just heightened by his PTSD and anxiety and ugh I just want to hug the boy. The story follows Harry and Draco and the rest of the 8th year gang through the year and has multiple arcs in which the wizarding world are just dumbass bitches who can’t fucking seem to accept people for who they are. Not only is Harry on the spectrum but he’s also Desi with a purpose and not just mentioned and forgotten which is wonderful. The boys go through a lot of trauma in the story but there’s also a lot of teeth-rotting fluff that I live for. This is one of the fics that I have read and reread because I love it so much.

This definitely is not my full list I have a ton more stories in my bookmarks if you are curious. I’ll probably post a part two to this just cause I have so much and read so often. These, however, are definitely the biggest highlights.

You hate these 'Are we alike?' surveys, but you still can't resist them. I don’t hate them, I just don’t like just bolding stuff. I get talkative when it comes to surveys so I like explaining myself, like right now haha. I definitely answer these types much less often, though. You are female. Indeed I am. You are eighteen years of age. I’m three years older than that. Your hair is an unnatural (but tasteful) shade of red. It’s black, and I’ve never dyed it red either. You have brown eyes. Gore generally makes you laugh. I try not to laugh at it because I know artists spend a fuckton of time working on making it look legitimate (not related to gore but I felt bad when a bunch of fans called out Bryan Cranston’s bald cap in the El Camino movie, especially knowing that Greg Nicotero, AKA dude who works on the makeup in The Walking Dead, was in the team who made the cap. They did what they could and it highkey looks pretty good, but some fans are just brutal); but if the gore was intentionally corny or bad, then I might laugh.

You basically write down everything because you're afraid you'll forget. Yep, that’s why my Notes app is a list of the most random shit. You're a 'highschool drop-out'. No, I graduated. ^And you're currently working towards your GED. We don’t have that here; I don’t actually know what that means. Am open to anyone explaining it to me! Hahaha You don't really care what anyone thinks about you. Of course I care. But it only matters most when the opinions come from the people close to me. You Tweet excessively and shamelessly. I was definitely more obsessed before (I would probably do 150-200 tweets a day and the website would usually kick me out for an hour for tweeting too much). But I mellowed down over the years when I realized making Twitter my life was a horrible habit and that I needed to get off my laptop lol. I still have the app open all day long, but I do more lurking than posting tweets.

It bothers you that almost every statement on this thing begins with 'you'. It’s supposed to be an are-we-alike survey so I don’t see why that trend should be a problem. Winter is your favorite season. Which is weird because I’ve never experienced it. But based on everyone’s stories about how winter is in their area, it sounds beautiful. You know every word to Badlands by Bruce Springsteen. I have never heard a single note of that song. ^And you're not ashamed to admit it. c: You're afraid to go to sleep most nights. Nah. You love Skwisgaar from Metalocalypse. :D Never heard of both of those things. You wish to invest in a pair of plaid pants. Not my style. You love scaring people--literally and figuratively. Not really. You hate the Fourth of July. I don’t celebrate it so I don’t have reason to hate it. You get excited over new pens and notebooks. That’s being a college student for ya.

^And basically any other kind of art supplies. I guess, but pens and notebooks excite me most. You have a thing for Mustangs. (The car, not the horse.) No. In the Philippines, Mustangs are the most basic of luxury cars so I’ve stopped being impressed when I see them around hahaha. You shamelessly jam to 'Don't Stop Believing' every chance you get. No. You think boundaries are overrated. :D No, they’re necessary. You rarely drink soda. I hate the feeling when it goes down my throat. You always procrastinate until the very last possible minute. Starcrossed Lovers

Okay, so there is this pretty sketch from @blancherries-art and I’ve been unable to shake it off? An AU where Nico is part of the mafia and Percy is part of the yakuza. And my brain kinda just went “Yes. Nico in a suit. Percy with tattoos. Both kicking ass. Yeees.”...

As my mind tends to do, it started spinning a background story around the sketch. Maybe they had to team up, mafia and yakuza, against a common threat. Hades, the mafia. Poseidon, the yakuza. Zeus, the bratva. They have clearly defined borders, stay out of each other’s business. But when the Russians are getting greedy, Hades sends his heir Nico from their headquarters in New Orleans to Kaua’i to negotiate with Poseidon Jackson. (I mean, Poseidon being Hawaiian is a hard-headcanon for me)

And I kinda got carried away and started writing this instead of writing, ya know, what’s next up on my list for my updating schedule, but oh well. ;D

Here, have an excerpt from “Starcrossed Lovers”;

Percy was sitting relaxed on the beach, sharpening his favorite knife while the waves washed over his bare feet, the sand beneath his toes slowly cooling down as night fell over Kaua'i. He particularly loved those moments, the serene ones where it was just Percy and the beach. The sound of a party somewhere nearby could be heard in the background, but he knew the tourists were too busy drinking and having fun to venture to Percy's part of the beach. Or at least he thought so until he saw a single figure stalk up toward him, illuminated by the full moon behind him. Percy raised his eyes from the knife in his lap, slowly dragging them over the approaching man.

That was definitely neither a regular tourist, nor a drunk party guest wandering off.

Wearily, Percy adjusted the knife in his hand, just in case. The guy stood out like a sore thumb. Granted, a finger-licking hot sore thumb (hah, good one, Percy! He really had to tell that one to Piper later on), but a sore thumb nonetheless. Who wore a suit in Hawaii? Much less on the beach? A tailored one at that – the thing fit the guy to the T. Expensive, from the looks of it. White silk. White. Seriously, he looked wildly out of place, as though he was supposed to be on a wedding – as the groom – and not strolling along the beach. Maybe he was a runaway groom? Poor bastard who lost that groom. Because thanks to the perfectly cut suit, Percy could tell how delectable the guy beneath was. A bit on the lanky side – long limbs, particularly his legs – with very sharp edges. The cheekbones, the shoulders, the hips. The man himself stood in stark contract to his white suit. Olive-colored skin, black curls falling into his face and giving him a bit of a boyish charm, eyes nearly as black as the night around them, but twinkling with something foreboding. His eyes carried the devil’s intend in their depth and all-consuming darkness.

He was intense. And intriguing. But something about the guy prompted Percy to pat his jeans for his second knife, just to be sure. He wasn't fool enough to be charmed by a nice-looking exterior. The pretty ones could be the deadliest. He himself was living proof of that.

After all, he was Perseus Jackson, second of his name, son of Poseidon Jackson, heir to the yakuza clan ruling the islands of Hawaii, breaker of chains, kicker of ass, dealer of sass, watcher of Game of Thrones. Should probably dial down on that last one. But in his defense, his roommate, best friend and literal partner in crimes Leo was totally obsessed with everything with dragons and 'Oh my gosh, Percy, there are like three dragons and a hot chick who rides them! We have to watch it!'.

Ah, damn. He really needed to work on his attentionspan. Curse his ADHD. It was a serious miracle that he had never been killed on the job before. Well. Before implied the option of coming back... and he wasn’t big on zombies. Those guys gave him the creeps.

“Scusi, do you think you can help me? I am lost?”, asked the gorgeous stranger.

“Yeah, no kidding, brah. You are way lost”, grunted Percy as he stared pointedly at the man's suit.

“My name is Nico. Would you mind helping me?”, inquired the man amused.

Percy raised one eyebrow as he took the offered hand. He raised both eyebrows as the gorgeous stranger – Nico – lifted Percy's hand to kiss his knuckles. Something about that dude was seriously fishy. Still, Percy couldn't deny the charms of a handsome man with an exotic accent and Percy had never been known to be the cautious type. Aiming a disarming, innocent smile at Nico, Percy pocketed his knife and grindstone. As he got up, he brushed the sand off his tight jeans and body, the wet sand clinging onto his tattooed skin, tribals of waves and the ocean.

“Aloha auinapo, Nico. Name's Percy and I'll be glad to help you out”, stated Percy with a grin.

1. Have you ever taken the Harry Potter patronus quiz? If so what did you get? I’ve taken it three times, actually, and gotten a different answer each time. A silver swan, a calico cat and...I can’t quite remember the other one but I’m p sure it was some kind of dog. On my own I’ve decided that my actual patronus would be either a cat or a turtle.

2. What was the book series or movie that you obsessed over as a kid? You mean...like...just one?  A few from my list, in no particular order: Harry Potter (the books, specifically), Deltora Quest (and really, just any book written by Emily Rodda), The Famous Five, Percy Jackson and the Olympians (although that didn’t come along ‘til later in childhood), The Lion King 2, Beauty and the Beast. To name but a few. Don’t even get me started on cartoons and anime.

3. Do you have or do you want any tattoos? I don’t have any yet, but I’d like to get one at some point. Something in the traditional style of my homeland, probably.

5. What is your favourite board game? How often do you play it? I don’t play board games so much anymore, but I’d probably pick Cluedo. I love that game. Unless you count cards. Bc I play various card games with my family quite often, and I like it.

6. When you imagine your dream home where do you imagine building it? Here at home, in the same valley where I live now. Except further up the valley, where it’s more isolated and there are pretty much no people around XD

11. If you could see any two of your favourite fandoms have a crossover event, which two would you pick and why? ..... I HAVE TOO MANY FANDOMS THIS IS TOO HARD ....... I guess...Deltora Quest because I love those books and the world they created with my entire soul and they need more love. And...the Shannara Chronicles, bc it’s my newest fandom (after having seen exactly one (1) episode, lol. It sucked me in really quickly and now I cry bc I don’t have the rest of the episodes. Or the book) and I’ve had it on the brain all week. Also, I think the characters would slot well into the word of Deltora, and vice versa. Just epic fantasy world crossovers.
