Thoughts on the ending
So this isn't going to be as in depth as what some others have done...just my own personal thoughts. So, spoilers ahead y'all under the break
I felt the finale should have been longer. I felt that, especially towards the end, things were rushed and just slapped on in a 'well this happened'. Granted, this makes me have a bit more fun time with my 'job' writing out what happened for my stories as I get to play around...but at the same time, I wanted to see more.
I felt there definitely could have been more with J and Tessa (or "Tessa's" relationship, giving a better reason of why she sided with them than "I want to live". I kinda did the "Oh...so she knew the whole time." response when I saw J's reaction to the Solver bringing the ship down. Personally, I kinda hoped that she didn't know, which would have gotten a lot of very interesting interactions ranging from grief to confusion to absolute effing fury that the Solver took another thing from her. Which would have meant J fighting alongside N and V rather than against them...which imo could have been a cool thing. The "I hate you but I hate this thing more."
V I expected to be alive. In one way or another. Either she was going to be fully ok like what we saw in canon (that oil drag away in the ep7 teaser clued me in she survived) or we'd have Eldritch V to deal with before messing with "Tessa".
I do wish that the "Bus Crash Trio" had more of a relevance other than delivering the gun to Uzi and Khan getting to slam the door down on "Tessa" and stop her from eating N's core.
Also literally everyone but Doll and Tessa living was just a "aw come on..." from me (though there might be a chance to get Doll back from what I could see since we see Uzi's HUD flash her purple, Cyn's gold and Doll's red.)
I felt the entire episode could have been at least ten minutes longer.
Now, enough with the complaining and on to the stuff I liked.
The horror and action was wonderful. I adored the final fight against "Tessa" and J. The Hallway scene with "Tessa" stalking Uzi and N while giving Callback Pings to call Uzi back to her was chilling. Not to mention the whole "LetMeInLetMeInLetMeIn" scene. (I wish these scenes were longer, make the Solver horrifyingly threatening as it's toying with them/hunting them down). Also. Uzi's core literally trying to rip itself outta her chest as she's getting pinged was just horror fuel.
V and N's PTSD kicking in when "Tessa" confronted them just MWAH! Yes. All the Trauma for the cute murder bots. V's shrieks of terror and panicked "I need to get away!" moments were absolutely gorgeous and I will gladly enjoy messing with that in my own way.
The callback pings also made me squeal because that was something my awesome friend @banyanas created for their DD headcanons and we all kinda went feral over them. I'm glad to see them there!
Cyn lived. Even if she's not in her own body, I am happy to see the silly little chaos gremlin alive. I am STILL of the opinion that Cyn and the Solver are not the same person. As I kinda got that vibe when Cyn was talking to Uzi at the locker...it was a lot more kind and innocent compared to the earlier battle. Maybe it was her resignation of being stuck like that, I don't know.
Cori, effing Cori. I love the purple spitfire, still my favorite character to traumatize and love on and oh my god yes the Khori content. I am so glad she actually lived. Khan still loves his crazy beautiful wife even if she doesn't have a proper body (yet...I'm not convinced they don't eventually give her her body back). Tsundere Nori was sweet as she saved him and oh I'm totally not gonna weaponize this :3
Nuzi confirmed! My Biscuit Bites lovin' heart is happy. (Picks up Orion and Astra) Look! You two are somewhat canon now!
Uzi kicking god in the screen. CROSSROADS CREW! LOOKING GLASS BEAU AND FLIPSIDE VERA YOUR GIRL KEPT HER PROMISE AND KICKED GOD IN THE SCREEN!!
A detail I haven't shared much but have been thinking on was Uzi's eyes now. How they're a gradient of yellow and purple. I...will admit I did have the thought of when she gets stressed/frightened/angry there are little yellow glitches in them even though the Solver is destroyed in Suns, Moons and Stars.
All in all, still kinda 'ok' on the episode. My favorite is still Episode 4 though 7's up there. I wish some things went different but eh, that's what my job as a fanfic writer is.
As it stands, Thank you Liam, thank you Glitch, thank you Michael, Elsie, Nola, Daisy, Fitzy, everyone. All of you did your hearts' work and it very much shows. If not for you guys, I never would have met people I am honored and blessed to call friends. And I never would have started writing probably the longest story project I've ever done.
May you dance among the stars from adversity.

i think. That you are worth more than you think you are Because the way that i see you and the way that you see yourself are wildly different things ,. Fromw aht ive seen i mean.
Anons are very strange sometimes and i dont think they should be called human when that happens because what is human without a name to. To go with it
i get very happy whwn i see you post . that isnt to say ill go on a rampage and start killing people if you wver need a break because you dont owe me the happiness you bring. You are doing what you like and i am along for the ride .! like a stupid hitchhiker who saw where you were headed and liked the idea .
i think layton has the worst most atrocious handwriting or the most curliest neat fancy writing ever. Chicken scratch or constant calligraphy no in between. also that time he slapped a sticky note on floras back and ran off. Yeah that was a good one. go little gayboy and have fun with the evil goth man in the alleyway who likes to cosplay
I see you’ve trapped me into responding by attaching a headcanon! Nefarious!
I’ve gotten the impression that a lot of how people see me and the way I see myself are different but I’m just kinda. Chalking it up to the persona I put online. I’ll always be a different person to you guys because here (and particularly on this blog) I’m a more normal idealized version of myself and then like. Parts of The Mental Illness seep through which is bad cause my blog is for silly posting about puzzle game characters and making other people cry. Ideally here I’m not. Me. Thyme is a silly little guy behind the screen who goes feral for Clark Triton and like. I’ll leave it at that. My personal blog has more bitching (a lot more. And I thank everyone who’s been putting up with it) but even then I try to curb the worst of it. Cause you guys don’t wanna hear allat and I don’t like making people worry. It kinda makes me want to die actually. Emotional vulnerability is like. Mmy worst trait.
I am glad that I make people happy tho! That’s kinda all I want out of anything so likeeee life goal achieved thanks. I should start calling you guys my hitchhikers now. How did I get 300 people in my car idk but you guys are along for the ride
Hershel is so me. I think he tries to have super nice handwriting and he does when it matters but if he’s going fast it quickly just devolves into something illegible to anyone but him. Hkdbkdb

I have a theory about the reason people(myself included) want to make Reader not entirely human or better/stronger/different than human, can be:
a)we don't like being us, humans.
b)you know those animes where the mc is the most bland, boring, average character, but turns out to be extremely powerful, or gets an extremely strong abylities(by accident, coincidence, chosen one, their loved one is gonna die, etc), gets the attention of all the powerful gorgeus people around them(more often than not because the mc has an ability they are interested in).
And we kinda internalized that being just a human can't be all. There must be something more. A human can't be just a human.
But that's just a theory, a reader theory. Goodnight.
(This got longer than I wanted it to be KEKW- But I can't help it, I talk a lot if it's something I have personal experience with.)
Oh yea no, the those reasons why peeps wanna avoid being human has been clear to me for years. There's way more reasons than that, of which most come down to personal preference. I've glanced at and avoided enough fics since at least 2017 where the Reader is some form of hybrid, god or something that isn't human or isn't unspecified. Just because my own personal preference lies more with reading about a Reader who is actually a regular human on earth, just trying to get by daily in life.
Thing is that if you read a fanfic where the Reader has literally no other description other than "normal mortal human", then there's nothing more to it. Visuals are up to the person behind the screen, besides the fact that the character is a regular human. It's always lowkey painful for me personally seeing peeps try to for example slap wings onto themselves, and pretend like they didn't just read they're supposed to be human. While it's fine if they wanna fantasize about it and ignore any balancing or realism rules privately, the AU is already imbalanced af enough in canon when certain aspects come into play.
The "what if" questions about the Reader being anything other than a human with no magical or racial bonus abilities are immediately seen as nothing more than hypotheticals that I personally would rather like to avoid talking about. My response to them all would just be "No". Because honestly, unless I can see something as an actual possibility in my works and it's actually logcial, like the idea of a Reader being a cannibal as well as, I'd rather keep hypotheticals away and not treat them as if they were possible in canon. Which is why I just straight up am all like "No" at those instead of responding with my own headcanons.
I'm just not comfortable with people trying to force changes on pre-established parts/rule sets in the world building. That's also part of why the Judge is in control of basically the board and its rules, making sure they're being upheld and kept as much in balance as possible. Eight powerful servants is already way more than the AU was supposed to have initially.
However, I am open about the idea of different upbringings of the Reader and how they became the Master and all that, because that is literally part of the philosophy seen in the AU. The idea that all humans are different in the way they act, live, see the world, and interpret things based on their own experiences. You don't have to suddenly be turned into something you are not, but wish to be seen as by others to get along with the people around you, or even be a leader to them. In this case the champions. That's why I usually respond to people talking about either personal experiences they've made themselves, or if it's about a very much possible scenario for a person to be in, or if it's about some condition or disability.
The champions are moreso seen as an extension of such a scenario. They don't just fall heads over heels for the Reader overnight either, as they can also just remain forever platonic. The experience made to get to anything more than that relies on the Master's actions, behavior, etc. with each individual champion. Which is why my responses feel repetetive regarding the reactions of the champions. I can't go into detail on those general reactions as everyone's relationship and expeiences with them would be different.
The AU isn't based around just one Reader, but a collective. If one is non-human, everyone would need to be non-human, more specifically the same species, due to the borrowed soul being that of a human. The only thing that's the same for all the Masters is just the human soul, since that's the thing that lets them find the Reader in the AU and feel connected to them. The soul of the Reader is already powerful enough in that regard, even if it's just mainly for the connection and acting like a tracker for both the champions and the Judge. (Unless an oopsie happens and the Reader accidentally ends up turning into something like an insect the others have a harder time finding as the soul wouldn't be noticeable enough, of course. But it's a rare moment.)
The Reader's soul in my previous works in Undertale actually worked similarly, but was altered a bit in ESAU for the experiment being held in the AU.

Obey Me! Younger Demon Brothers + Diavolo & Solomon With an MC Who Gives Punches When Surprised
A/N: This is technically part two of the "MC Who Gives Punches When Surprised" headcanon I made a while back. It was only supposed to include Solomon with the younger brothers but with @miss-kiabelle 's request, I decided to add Diavolo to the mix. I won't add Barbatos and the angels to this hc because one: Barbatos lowkey scares me, and two: I can't imagine MC punching the angels, esp. Luke.
I also didn't use the action "punch" to all of the characters below because I was running out of ideas :((
Anyways, I hope you guys find this to your liking.
For those who haven't read the Older Brothers Edition, just click here!
Summary: The title is still self-explanatory
Genre: Crack + Comfort on Beel's part (kind of)
CW: Mention of past trauma/anxiety; might be a little out of context in some parts.
Another Note: MC has Nyctalopia (Night Blindness) in Asmo and Beel's part
MASTERLIST
Satan
You were at the library reading a horror-suspense novel that piqued your interest.
You chose to sit at the most isolated spot in the library so no one would bother you while reading. You regretted it horribly.
As you were finally reading the exciting (read as scary) part, you felt someone touch your shoulder.
As a response to the sudden touch and because you were spooked by the novel, you punched the person to wherever part of their body you can easily hit as a defense mechanism.
After your flight-or-fight response have subsided, you saw Satan crouched on the floor while holding his abdominal area.
You felt fear creeping back to you only this time, it's because the aura around the demon started to become somber.
"A-are you... alright?" You swallowed the lump that was forming in your throat in an attempt to calm yourself down.
"I am..." *cough* "...alright, thank you for asking. I was about to say that we should probably head home because it was getting late but you didn't gave me a chance to speak."
Urk! "S-sorry," you muttered.
To be honest, he was starting to feel a little indignant because of your unsolicited punch to his stomach but when he saw the title of the novel you were reading, he really can't blame you for doing that.
"It's okay. But I advise you to go into a not-so-secluded spot especially when you're going to read something like that." He points to the novel on the table.
You nodded as you promised yourself to follow his advice.
Asmodeus
The House of Lamentation was fairly quiet that night. No bickering, no chaos, just a peaceful evening. And honestly, you were thankful for that.
You were scrolling through your D.D.D. when you saw the time on the screen.
You remembered that Asmo invited you to join him on his self-care routine tonight.
So you got up and made your way to the Avatar of Lust's room.
"Asmo, it's me. I'm coming in, okay?" You spoke after knocking on his door and upon knowing that it was unlocked, you proceeded to open it and let yourself in.
You needed to squint your eyes for you to see where you were going since the room was dark and the scented candles that were lit are the only source of light in the room. Which didn't help a bit to your vision.
As you searched for the fifth born's figure, you spotted a hovering creepy white face beside you.
As a response to suddenly seeing the face, your body automatically defended itself in a form of a slap.
"Oww!"
You gasped as you recognized the voice, "Asmo, is that you?! Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!"
After explaining your situation to the shocked demon, the misunderstanding was quickly cleared.
As much as he wanted to get mad at you for slapping him, he really can't blame you for having nyctalopia.
He made a mental note to himself to keep the lights on whenever you visited his room.
Beelzebub
You were loitering in the common room since you couldn't go outside because of a storm.
The moment you stood up to go to the bathroom, the lights went out.
You couldn't move an inch to your spot because you can't see that well in the dark. To add to your streak of bad luck, your phone just died.
As the thunder got louder, the more scared you get. Thunders remind you of a not-so-good memory you had.
So you just closed your eyes tight hoping that the minute you open your eyes, the thunderstorm has passed away.
But there was someone behind your back.
When another loud rumble was heard you leaped out in fear, inadvertently hitting the person behind you with your head while doing so.
When the lights came back on, you saw Beel looking at you worriedly, his chin a little redder than usual.
Putting two and two together, you realized that you accidentally headbutted the demon on his chin.
You profusely apologized to the demon, only to be enveloped in a bear hug in return.
"It's okay, MC. I know you didn't mean to do it. I saw you earlier frozen in place, so I came to check out if you're doing okay." (I believe demons have excellent night visions)
He'll bring you back into your room and will stay with you until the storm had subsided.
Belphegor
The student council has an emergency meeting that day so you were the only one left in the House of Lamentation, or so you thought.
Since you've got nothing else to do today, you decided to finish the novel you were reading the other day. (Referring to the novel in Satan's part)
Little did you know, Belphie chose to skip today's meeting to sleep.
But he can't find a comfortable position to sleep in. After countless turning and rolling, he suddenly remembered you, his living body pillow.
With a grumble, he left his pillow haven he called bed to find you.
When he did find you, you were too engrossed in your book that you didn't even notice the seventh born's presence.
The moment he spoke beside you, you were so surprised that you gave him a punch that was enough to knock him out. (Deja vu? 😆)
Well, at least you've helped him with his sleeping problem. Just not the way he wanted tho.
Expect to see him with a bruised face for a few days.
Diavolo
You, Diavolo, Barbatos, and the brothers were at an amusement park in the human world.
You've tried all of the attractions the park can offer except for one. The House of Horrors, the newest attraction of the park.
It was a horror house + escape room attraction, which was something that you loved to visit with your friends.
With the majority's vote, the group decided to visit the said attraction, much to Mammon's chagrin.
A few moments later after entering, you got separated from the group. You love these kinds of attractions but there was a difference when you visited them before than today. You didn't get separated from your group.
Now alone, you felt anxiety slowly creep into your heart. But you've gathered enough courage to go on.
But when you felt a looming presence beside you, all of that courage goes down the drain.
In a panic, you accidentally threw a smack at that person.
"G-ack!"
Wait, that voice. It's familiar.
When you confirmed that it was indeed Lord Diavolo, you felt cold shivers down your spine.
You were lucky Lucifer nor Barbatos were with you at that moment or you'll get a scolding for what you've done.
You let out a sigh of relief after knowing that the demon prince was alright. You were also happy that you now have a companion again.
As you comforted a shaking Mammon after your group finally escaped the horror house, you looked in Diavolo's direction with a slight hint of worry.
Don't worry MC, the incident that happened between the two of you will be kept a secret. (So that you can avoid Lucifer's lecture)
Solomon
(Please refer to Lesson 21-1 for context)
"By the way, MC. I can't help wondering..."
You waited for him to finish his message when he suddenly appeared behind you.
"When will you mention how much you missed me?"
You were surprised to see Solomon out of nowhere. That much he predicted.
What he didn't anticipate was the punch you gave him after his surprise.
It was strong enough to topple him down to the ground.
"Wh- Solomon!" You rushed to help the poor sorcerer get back up.
"MC..."
"Y-yes?"
"Did you perhaps practice martial arts in the past?"
"..."
You nodded slowly to confirm his question.
"Ah... I figured as much. You've got strong punches," he tells as he rubs his jaw.
The two of you teleported back to the Devildom, the brothers quickly rushed over you in disbelief that you were back.
Only after they get over their initial shock that they've noticed Solomon with his slightly red jaw.
"Solomon! What happened to your jaw?!" Asmo frantically questions him as he tilted the sorcerer's face to examine the newly forming bruise.
"Oh, you know. Just a little incident along the way," Solomon replied before glancing in your direction.
You averted your eyes to hide your guilty look. You'll apologize to him later.
And it is done! Hehe this was really fun to write even though I blanked out on some parts. I couldn't make Beel's part funny so I decided to make it a comfort hc instead.

I really like your smut writing! So can I please request some spicy headcanons for Floyd, Epel, Riddle and Idia with a fem s!o who surprises them by sending a nudes? How would they react? Thank you^^
Aaa thank you so much!!! I’m p new to this writing/requests thing so I’m really glad you like it! :’)
Warnings: light degradation on Riddle’s part
A/N: this piece of writing is purely 18+. Minors do not interact
NSFW below the cut
Floyd Leech x Fem!Reader
You and Floyd are practically inseparable. You spend so much time together that you feel so sad and empty when he’s gone doing something else!
So when Floyd has work at the lounge or basketball practice, who can blame you when you say you felt a bit lonely? You decide to send your lovely eel boyfriend some photos back in your bedroom while you’re alone.
The body parts you decide to send photos of are your breasts and ass, specifically the parts Floyd loves to squeeze! Well, he loves to squeeze all of you, but he favors those because you make some really cute noises when he does it!
Floyd would take one look at his cell phone, immediately drop everything he’s doing and come find you. If he was working at the lounge then he would drop his tray. If he were at basketball practice he would just straight up leave. His stuff would still be there LOL.
He would definitely be rough with you (as if he isn’t normally) and remove any clothing you had on, if you still had any on, and fuck you multiple times for sending those photos to him while he was away! Don’t you know how much he missed you already?
Floyd pays special attention to use his hands to squeeze your breasts, nipples, or ass with his fingers while he’s ramming his cock deep in your cunt, his head kissing your cervix with each thrust.
It hadn’t even been 3 minutes after you clicked ‘send’ on those photos for Floyd. He didn’t even respond to you, which had you feeling a bit sad. Usually he replied within the minute! You covered your naked form up loosely with the white sheet, which accentuated your body shape even while draped with it.
“Shrimpyyy~” an eerily sweet voice called out in the hallways leading up to your room, leaving you with goosebumps. Suddenly your door burst open and Floyd was standing there, obvious tent in his pants.
“Hi Floyd…” you called out to him. Floyd’s eyes widened and his smile grew large. “You look like a siren Shrimpy…. you’re making me wanna squeeeeze you~” The eel merman closed the distance between you and ripped the sheet off your body, exposing you completely.
Epel Felmier x Fem!Reader
Epel would probably be busy with Vil, learning how to use some new product Vil was promoting soon.
Epel hears a ding on his phone saying you texted him but ignores it since Vil is trying to lecture him. He will definitely get back to you soon! If it was urgent you would call him.
Once Vil is finished with him, Epel finally returns to his room, and opens your text. He definitely doesn’t expect to see you scantily clad in a lavender set of lingerie!!!
Y/N: “Hey my favorite farmboy~ I know you’re probably busy right now but I bought this while I was thinking about you. I’m getting hungry, and I would love to have an apple in my mouth right now. Come over soon~”
Epel gulps down and feels his cock starting to harden in his pants. A part of him just wants to video call you and have phone sex but another part of him wants to ravage you in person!
He would definitely be happy he opened that text in his room!!! Vil didn’t need to see Epel getting so worked up over this.
“I’m on my way now.” He sends the text quickly.
Epel would remove any bits of makeup on his face before heading over to your dorm, bringing over some snacks. Beads of sweat were already starting to build on his face as he enters and heads toward your room.
When he finally gets there, he’s sweet at first when it comes to foreplay and kisses, but you want to see his real side and he wants to show it to you too! Epel would roughly slap your ass and fuck you doggystyle, while you’re screaming out his name, lingerie thrown on the floor along with his own clothes.
“Y/N..?” Epel knocks on your door and opens it, peeking around to see you in bed. “Come here, Epel. I’ve been waiting for a while now, and I want to see how well this set matches with your hair, preferably with your head between my legs~?” You finally used your pointer finger to beckon for him to come closer, in which he quickly did. The boy didn’t hide the way his eyebrows quirked in determination as he smiled eagerly. He knelt down and pulled your panties off, shoving his tongue into your leaking hole.
Riddle Rosehearts x Fem!Reader
Riddle was a changed person after his incident when you were still a new student. You grew to love him and it ultimately led to you two being in a relationship!
Riddle was always very gentle with you when it came to being intimate, you often wanted him to be a bit rougher with you but he said “it wouldn’t be chivalrous”.
You decide to take matters into your own hands by building up tension - you start breaking rules here and there. Riddle would forgive you at first but once he noticed how often you did it, his face would turn red and his voice would raise, yet he still forgave you!
You decide to send a photo of yourself in his bedroom, dressed in a red babydoll lingerie set, your body spread out on his sheets. If you’re bold, you also take pictures with his crown atop your head, showing off the way your nipples perked in the set.
Y/N: “Riddle my dear~, I’ve been so bad. You know it, and I know it. Why don’t you come over here and punish me?”
This was the final straw - your punishment starts now. He’s forgiven your rule breaking so easily because he had a soft spot for you! But you knew this whole time you were breaking rules?!
Riddle storms in a few minutes after sending you many texts in all caps. Once he really sees you sprawled out so seductively on his bed, he can’t help but let his face go red as he swallows a lump in his throat.
His mixture of anger and arousal showed quite freely when he was fucking you into his bed, spewing light degradations towards you while teasing you for being such a whore.
Riddle hikes your leg up onto his shoulder, using it as a leverage to hit a new angle inside your already abused cunt. “So, you really were trying to break those rules on purpose, my rose?” Riddle panted while smirking down at your squealing form. “And then you come into my room while I’m not here, pose so lewdly on my bed, wearing that? I guess you are a dirty slut.” Riddle chuckled darkly, still fucking against your pussy. His grip on your leg tightened. “Say it. Tell me you’re a dirty slut, and maybe I’ll consider forgiving you…”
Idia Shroud x Fem!Reader
Idia… this guy lives his life digitally, he likes texting you frequently, and sometimes he still gets nervous seeing you in person, as your boyfriend!
One day he wasn’t texting you back, which had to mean he was PROBABLY busy gaming.
You decide to surprise him by getting into a cosplay of a character that you both liked. The costume was already a bit revealing but you decided to take it to the next level by sending upskirt pictures that accentuated your butt, and even shots of your panties being soaked under the skirt!
When Idia opened his texts, the photos of you flooded his screen and he screeched, shutting it off before Ortho could wonder what was wrong! “O-Ortho, could you please patrol the hallways right now? I just f-found out I have to do something. A-and,” the blue haired boy stuttered. “Feel free to start up conversations with the dorm members, for as long as you want, okay?” Ortho of course happily agreed and practically flew out of the room.
I can see Idia either calling you to come over or he would want to video call you and watch you bring yourself to orgasm.
Seeing you in those clothes though, I would imagine him reaalllyy wanting you to come over, though.
Idia called your phone and you could hear his shaky breath starting to talk. “Y-Y/N, could you nnh- come over, please? And, m-maybe wear a jacket over yourself, I want to see you wearing that outfit here, please…”
Once you get to Idia’s room, he pulls you eagerly in an embrace, and you feel his hard cock poking your stomach through his pants.
Idia loves to watch you bounce on his cock while you’re wearing the same exact cosplay in the photos!
“Aanh- Y/N-shi…” Idia covered his face with the sleeve of his shirt. His cheeks were radiating heat and his eyes were glazed over with pleasure. The skirt you wore was hiked up to your waist, shirt on the floor along with your bra. “Mm, Idia~ it feels so good, I’m so haaah, so close..!” You could only whimper out, feeling yourself clench around his cock. “C-cumming!!” He pulled you down into a kiss in which you both moaned into as you milked his hot cum into your greedy hole.

Langa might have been written ace on purpose. Let me explain.
After reading a bunch of ace spectrum headcanons and then rewatching Ad*m ruin everything the anime.
I've realized something. Ad*m and Langa are obviously written to be compared and contrast to each other. They were both taught to skate by a person close to them. They are both prodigious in skateboarding. Hell, they are the only two people to enter "The Zone" and not get seriously injured. But there is a big difference between them.
No, it's not the money. No, it's not their friendships with their mentors. No, it's not even their hair color. It's one of the most overlooked aspects of their characters.
It's about sex. Or lack thereof for Langa.
From the first moment, we meet Matador Hisoka, is when he is watching Langa win against Shadow, on his dozens of flat screens, shirtless. I know that when I saw it I was immediately uncomfortable because it evoked the image of a guy watching p*rn alone in his room. With Langa being the sex object he prefers to view.
Then we see it get worse. He grabs people and pulls them as close as close as he wants them to be. He talks like he's in an Christain bdsm erotica comparing Langa to Eve, the wife and submissive lover of Ad*m. Calls Tadashi his dog and makes a lot of sexually charged comments to both of them.
It's no surprise that the fandom was quick to call him a r*pist and a ped* because that man seemed to see everything in a red tinted light. The only times when he wasn't making innuendos was when talking to politicians. Which is infered to be him hiding his true self. Now take everything I just said and compare it to Langa.
Langa dosen't do innuendos or metaphors. Everything he says is printed on the label. He says what's on his mind and keeps it short. In the beach episode he didn't give a damn about trying to get a girl. While Reki and Shadow were angry then elated when Joe was picking up the girls then scewred up. Langa was chewing on a Watermelon. Probably thinking of skating.
Miya only messed with Joe for a laugh/ to make Reki and Shadow laugh. Langa was offscreen and didn't even engage in the scene besides the iconic "I'll protect you." scene. If Ad*m was there? *shivers* Just imagine that horrible fate. But why does that matter? What does this have to do with Ad*m?
Well, think about everyone else he raced with. With the first Reki beef, he didn't hesitate to grab him, place him in suggestive positions, and just make him really uncomfortable. Reki knows the innuendo of these actions. Whether or not he's str8, g@y, or b!, he is affected by ad*ms advances and it scares him.
Miya talks to ad*m before the beef and finds out about Ad*m's past and that he was *in love* with all his skating partners who he put in the hospital. We pan to a shot of Miya's face being freaked out. He loses the beef.
Cherry and Ad*m have a past. Cherry spends the entire race believing that since Ad*m and him were close once there is nothing Ad*m can do to mess with him. That must be why Ad*m never skated against him before. Then he assaults Cherry. Then he callously remarks, "I never raced against you because you were too boring. The only one worthy is Snow." Adam might've well bitch slapped Cherry and said "I only dated you cause you were easy. Youve already been replaced so dont think our relationship was anything more than that."
Now after all those examples let's compare them to Langa's beefs.
The first time he's doing it as a requirement for the beef Reki lost. When Ad*m gives him a bouquet, he just straight up accepts it. No blushing, no weird looks, nothing more then a thanks. Every one else is creeped out, rightfully so. But then the beef starts, Adam's psychological game of a smoking headstart doesn't work on Langa.
He came for a proper match not to be toyed with. Adam puts the cigs away and races Langa. Then he grabs Langa. Makes him pose in weird angles. Spins him around like a doll. Grabs his hands and pushes him into a suggestive stance. But when he asks Langa if he's scared, Langa smiles.
When I first saw this I was confused? Was he having fun with Adam? Was he thrilled by the near death experience. Looking back on it I think I finally have an answer.
Langa found the chink in his armor.
Everyone else was so caught up in being uncomfortable with Ad*m touching them that they didn't realize something important. As long as Ad*m is holding onto his partner, neither of them can win. If the partner falls while holding onto adam, Ad*m gets pulled down with them.
So he rushes forward and holds on tight. Adam takes this as a sign. That Langa and him are the same but they're not. Langa wasn't doing it to reciprocate any feelings Adam had, he was doing it to win the race.
It probably didn't cross his mind what the action could be misinterpreted as, he was just trying to have fun and skate.
It doesn't matter how much Adam tries to provoke langa in a sexual manner, the only Langa cares about is skating. Getting back into "The Zone" is what keeps Langa interested in Ad*m not some weird sexual awakening like many had theorized.
As far as I can tell all sexual aspects go right over Langa's head, which is a common experience in the ace community where someone might make a sex joke and it might not click until later. I can attest to that one personally.
A little while later this becomes a conflict between Reki and Langa in ep 7. When Langa enters the tournament he's dosen't get why Reki wouldn't want him too. In a way he doesn't understand the psychological harm Adam caused Reki.
Adams advances on Reki felt violating.
Adams advances on Langa were nothing.
The fact that Langa cant wrap his head around why it's a bad idea to skate against someone as dangerous and gross as Adam is a real issue.
Just imagine if someone made you uncomfortable, manhandling you, and then sending you to the hospital because you didn't respond to them correctly. Then your bestfriend spends alone time with them but then comes out completely fine. You make them promise to never hang out with them again and then they just casually remark they are going to meet them again on Friday.
That's a messed up situation and the fact that Langa cares more about skating with Ad*m then how Reki feels about it is an actual issue that warrents a 3 episode freindship hiatus.
Then Langa thinks about how skating isn't fun without Reki and Reki cant enjoy skating without Langa. They come together and have that proposal scene which will go down in history as the gayest sports anime scene without kissing. On Langa's side I think he realized while Adam might be able to get him into "the zone" it's not nearly as fulfilling as the relationship he has with Reki. (romantically or not)
Reki might of just been ready to forgive Langa after being miserable without him for a few days but hearing Langa go on and on about Reki made him realize that Langa doesn't actually care about Adam the way he was implied to in Ep 7. He was just trying to skate and didn't quite realize the effect it had on Reki.
While I do think we needed an episode focused on Reki getting over his fear of Adam before the beef it was nice to see Reki taking on Adam similarly to Langa.
He took all the blows like a champ and when the time came, he used the chink in the armor to his advantage and almost won against him by using strategy against brute strength of talent. We also got protective!Langa so we can infer that Langa realized that Adam being near Reki wasn't an okay thing anymore.
Then we have the last beef. All the dramatics and sexual undertones didn't faze Langa. Then only thing that hinders Langa is "The Zone." Where he becomes stuck in the numb state. Langa feels nothing even when he's falling. That only thing that snaps him out of that state is when he sees the FUN on his board and remembers that Reki is waiting for him on the other side. He gets himself into gear and even manages to pull Adam out of the zone.
Then when they crash into eachother and Langa is getting up, he holds his skateboard up and asks Adam to skate with him. Maybe he realized that Ad*m wasn't having fun and decided to be the good guy. (I don't know, I don't like this scene very much) But it makes Adam remember how he met Tadashi. Back when they were both little kids who just wanted to have fun. That shakes him up. Adam existed in a world where everything had an underlying meaning and for him to realize the importance of just plain human connection made him reflect on his life so far. Especially with the contrast of two little kids who hung out to skate with the implication of them now being to grown adults who probably are into some 🐶👀 kinda shit. Langa's innocence was what shook Adam and that even after Langa met all the requirements to be his "Eve" he didn't try to harass Langa after the race. (The parachuting scene doesn't count dont ask me about this. I don't have an answer)
Langa won and jumped into his bestfriend's arms like a little kid. Adam walked away from the finish trying to figure out what the merits were in having a relationship based on love instead of obsession.
Adam is still a sexual being. That's not something even Jesus himself, could change but he now doesn't feel the need to have every conversation be filled with sexual undertones. Unless it's Tadashi. Who I think is now in a monogamous relationship with him. Could be wrong though. The dog thing could be interpreted many different ways. Langa opened his eyes to a world where skating and relationships were more innocuous.
In conclusion, Langa was written as someone with little to no sexual urges as narrative foil to Ad*m's constant sexual nature. Whether or not the writers intended to make Langa asexual is up for debate but it's not a coincidence that the fans are headcanoning Langa as ace since he was essentially written as one in order to face Ad*m as a formidable opponent without being tripped up.
Just to clarify I dont think that ace people can't be made to feel violated or are unable to understand when they are being harrassed. But Langa's ability to be unfazed by Ad*m's sexual undertones was important to the Adam vs Langa plot as it made him a psychologically strong individual that Adam could barely get into his head. Then helped Adam realize something flawed in his understanding of people and skating.
It was also important to Reki and Langa's relationship because Langa needed to realize the importance of empathy and having freinds who establish healthy boundaries and respecting them even if you don't understand why they have them there. Also that even if you feel fine around certain people when your freinds are suffering because of that person it's best to acknowledge that and be willing to protect them.
Therefore, Langa being ace is just as heavily implied and important to the story as Renga's relationship is. I think it's really cool how Langa's sexuality wasn't even brought up once but still impacted the story in a subtle but quintessential way.

we need a scarlet witch redemption movie and here's why
A lot of Wanda fans—myself included—are Wanda fans specifically because of her grief and mental illness arc. Before WandaVision, MCU characters grieved briefly or not at all, and definitely not on screen for a full six hours. Up until that point, my favorite characters were my favorites because I liked them or headcanoned something that I felt seen by.
WandaVision gave me a character that I absolutely fell in love with because she was intentionally crafted to reflect the particular and terrifying experience of being afraid of the person you become when you're hurt. It was more personal than anything has ever been in the MCU, even though the stakes were higher than is actually possible (I can't mind control a town, but I do get kind of mean when I'm sad and that makes me afraid I'm a bad person deep down). It's really important that at the end of WandaVision, she seems to embrace the Scarlet Witch power while rejecting her destiny as the destroyer of the universe. It pushes back against the harmful trope that hurt people hurt people, by saying that you can choose to do better, and that it doesn't need to come at the cost of your strength, either.
And then, OH BOY, Multiverse of Madness tells us that she actually can't escape her fate, no matter how hard she tries. That movie was hurtful because I had previously come to see myself in the villain, who is now trying to kidnap some kids because grief. And then, she sees what a monster she became and she kills herself (not that I think she's actually dead, but still). The meta-communication of this movie is literally that at least this specific hurt person—the ONLY MCU character thus far to have that detailed of a depiction of griefis destined to hurt people.
That brings me to the solo film: we need a nuanced, loving redemption arc for Wanda. Even if they do better with their grieving women in the future, making her disposable is a slap in the face to all of the fans who saw themselves represented well in WandaVision, likely for the first time. I, for one, will not stick around if they don't fix it, and I suspect I'm not alone. I think a redemption movie may be the only way to even begin addressing how difficult it was to see that arc unfold in MoM. And when dudebro MCU fans blow off the Scarlet Witch movie dreams, it all just reinforces this idea that mentally ill people are bad and disposable. I want more Wanda content, sure, but more than that, I just want a better ending for a character whose writing reflects what the people in those executive rooms and Reddit replies may very well think about me and my loved ones.

MILGRAM theory time: Haruka!
This isn't going to go super in depth (famous last words) but there's a few heavily debated parts of Haruka's MV I want to share my findings/thoughts on because I think this is my new special interest and during my quest to get best boy's song to 1 million views I have been looking over his first MV with a fine tooth comb so to speak.
Disclaimer: As the Jackalope said in the "This is the MILGRAM" trailer, we don't necessarily know everyone's crime from just the first video, its possible that a lot of things will be re-contextualized in the second MV, however I am not psychic or bilingual and thus will only be working with content released before August 20th 2021 and translated into English (which could cause some language/cultural details to be lost on me as translation is not a 1 to 1 process).
TW for discussions of ableism, child abuse, murder and animal death. Also this is really long so sorry to all the people that follow me for non-MILGRAM stuff
Firstly, I want to start on the topic of Haruka as a person. He is disabled. He does not have 'the mind of a child' (although he is 17, making him legally a minor in both North America and Japan). He is not just 'child-like'. And he is not mentally ill (well he might be, in the sense that many disabilities like Haruka's have strong comorbidities [where a person has two or more conditions but neither directly causes the other] with anxiety, depression and PTSD, but usually when I see people talk about him 'struggling with mental illness' they go on to refer to aspects of his disability). Sometimes on tumblr, people like myself, will see canonical traits written into a character and identify them as being traits associated with our disabilities/mental illness and headcanon them as such. Sometimes this even involves saying things like "It's basically canon!" Although we understand that these characters were probably not the result of a writer intending to write a disabled person. When I say that Haruka is being written as a person with a neurodevelopmental disability, I mean the writer intended to write a disabled character and wrote them in a way that they wanted the audience to pick up on. As an autistic person (which is one of many neurodevelopmental disorders and also something I probably didn't have to specify because who else would be writing an essay about a series they got into a few days ago at 11 o'clock at night) I really like how Haruka has been written so far. There's definitely some parts of him that have been exaggerated so abled normies can pick up on his disability (namely how his MV 's main motif is really child-like drawings) but the writers also included a lot of smaller details I appreciate like how it is noted he avoids eye contact when talking to other people and is depicted as nervously pulling at his sleeves in official artwork, or how he says he finds his prison uniform (which has tight straps) 'relaxing' and when he gets nervous/tense, he will dig his fingernails into the palm of his hands. (These last two potential being examples of 'self stimulation' [aka stimming] where a person seeks out specific sensory stimuli in order to help regulate their nervous system/emotions, in this case the tight uniform creates a comforting, secure feeling [you may have heard about some people preferring to sleep under weighted blankets for this reason] and digging nails into his palms sounds uncomfortable/painful but is done in an attempt to deal with a greater sensory discomfort caused by the situation/environment) I also appreciate the depth he is written with, he struggles to communicate verbally but in his MV and interactions with other inmates is shown to have insecurities, opinions and a consistent thought process (this is all basic character stuff but unfortunately not always present in disabled characters)
Also I want to add that (in terms of what we've been shown so far) Haruka did not kill anyone because of his disability/mental illness. Disabled people are not inherently more innocent than abled people. But there is no disability/mental illness where a symptom is that you kill people and real people have to live with the stigma when you speak carelessly and suggest things like "Haruka is the kind of mentally ill person who kills people as a cry for help" 🧂 (or at the very least real people have to read BS like that and cringe). TL;DR Haruka is less child-like and more onion-like (as in, he has layers) 🧅🧅🧅
Now is the actual theory stuff, oops:
Every prisoner in MILGRAM is supposed to have committed murder in some way, obviously considering Yuno just had an abortion (which i personally do not consider an act of murder) whilst Mu literally stabbed someone to death, this definition is stretched a bit. But it is not agreed upon yet who Haruka killed/how many people he killed or why he killed.
In his MV he is shown to have chased after his dog into a forest, seen something off-screen, then beaten something into a messy pulp with a rock. Some people think the dog is a red herring and that Haruka actually killed his mother/the girl from the fireworks show/his brother. I do not agree.
First: I believe Haruka when he says he doesn't have a brother. The MV literally starts by Haruka looking in the mirror and then switching between the him now
Tumblr media
and a really similar looking younger child who just so happened to be a key feature of his memories (I don't have the vocabulary to explain it but its like cinematic parallels that establish this is the same person at different points of their life)
Tumblr media
Its not impossible that this is Haruka's secret younger brother, but i think its unlikely. I saw someone saying they had to be different people because Haruka looks less happy than the child but like, most 17 year olds are less visibly happy than when they were 7 (or however old the child is meant to be). Life happens.
So when Haruka is shown pushing the child around and eventually strangling him, this isn't meant to be literal (homicide or suicide), but a representation of how conflicted Haruka feels about his younger self, who may have committed the murder (if you've ever been kept awake cringing at memories of something you said in the past and wishing you could go slap some sense into your former self, this is like that but 10 times more self loathing). The lyric "I am always repeating yesterday," implies he might think about this specific past event a lot.
Moving on, its pretty well accepted that Haruka's parents were abusive in some way and Haruka internalised a lot of it: he constantly apologises, he says in his interrogation questions that his one wish come true is that "[he] want[s] to be loved" and describes in his MV how when he couldn't find the words he was looking for ("you're unfair") one of his parents "would get angry at me and say “You’re hopeless.”". He seems to know its unfair but also still says he 'loves' his family, possibly mistakenly believing it is his fault, but also showing an awareness of his situation (and how his parents might behave).
Now, the MV is stylised in a way that makes certain details unclear, but there is one clear detail showing that Haruka's dog was killed
Tumblr media
This is the first close up of Haruka and the dog. Haruka's mother is just out of frame supervising, but they look pretty happy. Notice how the puppy has a silvery chain for a collar. Somehow, this dog gets out of the house but only Haruka is shown chasing after it (whether his mother was searching elsewhere or didn't bother following her disabled son into the forest is unclear). Either way, young Haruka is now in the forest, unsupervised.
Tumblr media
By the time he finds the dog, there is already blood, suggesting it was initally attacked by something else.
Tumblr media
is this a sigh of relief from a boy whose finally found his beloved pet or a jealous weakling glad that nature took its course and he is finally free of that meddling mutt stealing all his mummy's attention? /j
Tumblr media
I think this shock at the discovery that 'there is blood on his hands' could imply that rather than literally getting the blood from his dog, Haruka has seen his already injured dog and realises that if the dog got out because of him (he is previously shown to be aware his parents seem to blame him for everything) then he is the reason his dog is injured/dying and will be blamed for it. (this scene plays over the lyrics "It’s fine, though it’s really not It’s really fine, though I don’t really think so When I tried to understand it, You’ll make that disappointed face again" suggesting he is trying to avoid making his parents disappointed and letting the family pet escape into danger is something that could make them very disappointed)
Tumblr media
now we get into rock murder (this is present-day Haruka implying that this is either: not how the scene really played out; the writers really wanting the audience to know that this was Haruka's doing and not someone else's; or this turns into a separate incident that happened much later [although note that the red sky and blue moon is the same as when young Haruka first appears at the start])
Tumblr media
b the corpse is beyond mangled now, but its clearly the dog because the silver chain collar is still there, to the right of the body. (circled in red for your convenience :3)
My hypothesis is: Haruka didn't set out to kill his dog, but upon finding it injured (we don't know the severity aside from bleeding and also it not being able to run away from Haruka kneeling down above it w/ a big rock so it could range from treatable with a lot of vet help to already on death's door, TBH I don't think Haruka would know the difference) He knew he'd be blamed for this; made into a villain who let the poor puppy come to harm. He panicked and killed the dog out of some idea that it would make him the victim here (since he'd be found crying over a dog corpse, which might make a parent go comfort him rather than getting angry about what could've happened to the dog). This is over the lyrics: "I cried, I screamed I wanted to be a pitied and loved weakling I was in denial, I was in denial I just had to make sure I’ve become a victim, I’ve become a victim" (there's another theory that he was also jealous of the dog, which could work here too, since this is not some calculated plot; rather its a rash decision) This ties in with his Japanese song title (translated as Weakness) which is a play on a phrase sort of like "The strong eat, the weak do not" to become "The weak are eaten by society" or "The weak eat each other to survive" [once again I am reminding everyone this is based on second hand information from the youtube comments section (from users mitchki and Alphaistic) because I do not speak Japanese] This second meaning (The weak eat each other to survive) makes sense under the reading that Haruka killed his dog in order to 'survive' making his parents disappointed for the dog escaping.
Miscellaneous points:
We don't know where Haruka's necklace came from yet, it must be a gift since the most expensive thing he's ever bought was cotton candy. The younger child in the video isn't wearing it and neither is his mother or the girl in the purple dress.
Haruka's home seems quite big, at the start we can see a large flower garden outside the window and there's a forest in walking distance. This might suggest his family is quite wealthy
Tumblr media
Haruka probably did go to school at some point as homeschooling is not a legally accepted as an alternative to public schools in Japan. (However it is estimated that up to 5000 families homeschool, this is uncommon) A lot (about 62%) of Japanese schools apparently have a 'special needs' classes and there are about 505 schools focused on educating intellectually disabled students (although I do not know which sort Haruka would've needed as whilst intellectual and development disabilities can be comorbid they aren't the same). Now, if children aged 7-14 don't go to school, their parents receive a fine, but its possible that if Haruka's parents are wealthy, they just paid it to avoid sending him to school. (This might imply they wanted to hide him or were generally ashamed of him in some way) However high school education (for students over 14) is not legally required and its likely that even if Haruka went to elementary/middle school, he hasn't been around people his own age in at least 3 years. As he seems quite lonely and glad that the other prisoners give him attention.
I don't think Haruka's parents are divorced and if they are, its not his father who left. Haruka mentions in the 30 questions that he thinks he disappointed his father. But still includes him as part of his family ("My father and mother and me"). A theory I've seen is that his father was disappointed by his son being disabled and left. but developmental disabilities (especially in non verbal and semi verbal children like Haruka) can be diagnosed before the age of 3, so I feel it is unlikely that Haruka would bring up his father if he left that early in Haruka's life
All MILGRAM prisoners have covered one of DECO*27's older vocaloid songs (DECO*27 is a well known producer who composes the music for MILGRAM) Haruka covered 'Two Breaths Walking' (https://youtu.be/puXLfVWrz2Q) which is about a boy's first relationship and how his mother's jealousy set him up for failure as the relationship becomes toxic (specifically it has some very funny out of context lines like "Whose breasts are you sucking on now?") so yeah, mommy issues: the song (Also: some people say in the song, the boy kills the girl at the end, but this isn't literal, TBW is the first of a trilogy of songs about the same relationship, it is followed by Android girl then Two Breaths Walking: Reloaded and the story resolves with the couple reuniting as adults and getting in the relationship again, although its not necessarily as abusive as before, its still implied to be codependant ending on the line 'We should live like oxygen tanks, sucking breathe from the words each of us exhale, until our last breathe')
In all seriousness, the scene where younger Haruka is walking through the city with his mother but it keeps repeating until older Haruka pulls the younger one away might indicate an attempt to focus the happier memories of his parents (since this is also over the lyrics "Why is it breaking? Tell me why? Please don’t change If I tried and couldn’t say it, You would get angry at me and say “You’re hopeless.”" which depict a worse scene) I think both his parents are still physically present but have become far more emotionally distant, not giving him as much attention, which exacerbates his loneliness from not having any friends his own age to talk to
And if one of his parents did leave? I think its likely his mother since she is shown disappearing out of his reach after the dog-incident (inferring she got angry/disappointed in Haruka anyway) This could also be where he got his necklace from: Its something his mother used to wear (although this is 100% a guess) and that's why its shown to be important to him
This one is just me, but i didn't realise until a rewatch that when Haruka is watching the younger him and the girl running together, the background has fireworks. Haruka mentions fireworks being a key memory to him so I wonder if this was one of the first/last times he got to make a friend...
On three separate occasions in the interrogation, Haruka mentions not liking animals. Despite this, he is depicted as sleeping with a rabbit plush and on his birthday art (I'd include that too but tumblr only allows 10 pictures per post, so here's a link) he is standing next to a giant blueberry and strawberry cake with two bunny themed biscuits at the side. Through my experiences of seeing Japanese fandom art on pixiv, sometimes rabbits are used to insinuate a character is cute and timid in fanart.
Tumblr media
Meaningless details: Haruka sleeps with his necklace on; he sleeps on a bed and not a futon; at first I thought he woke up holding his plush's hand but his hand is merely next to the toy; and considering the state of the pillow and blanket, I wonder if he moves a lot in his sleep or if the is just because in this case he seems to be waking up from a nightmare about the dog incident...
Final note: I've spent so many hours writing this I don't remember if i was building up to any big finale or not but I hope you enjoyed reading this! Feel free to add on in the comments/reblogs.

I just read RT's interviews and we were totally robbed of more MirSan kids. Them just stopping at three kids always seemed odd to me and now with her comment on how she could see them with more kids solidifies that. Not to mention Moroha being born relatively later in the InuKag marriage? Pffft how convenient for the plot Sunrise 🙄
Is this the “hogosha” interview or a different, new one? I don’t keep up with what Takahashi says so I totally rely on you guys for that (thank you, by the way).
To be honest, I was totally fine with the Mirsan kids we got. I agree with you that it was a bit odd they didn’t have even more children, considering their characters and the enviroment they’re in. And like you said, Takahashi commenting how she could see them with more kids solidifies that. So yeah, I understand why people would feel robbed.
It just never was an issue that bothered me, personally. Especially because when the series ended, Miroku and Sango were still young and in love. There was (or is) nothing stopping them from having more kids or us from making headcanons, fanfictions or fanarts where they do. Yashahime being official content doesn’t make it canon. The possibilities are still pretty much there.
Now, Moroha being born relatively late in the Inukag marriage is just a slap on the face, for a ton of reasons.
By no means I think Inukag would have children right away. They did spend three whole years apart. That’s a lot of time. There’s so many things they need to catch up on, so many issues they need to sort out. And after they do, it’s only natural that they got to live that “honeymoon” phase, where they can just enjoy each other’s company and make up for the lost time without the additional responsiblility of raising a child. They deserve that alone time. It’s something both of them would appreciate.
Plus, Kagome is a responsible woman, with modern knowledge of pregnancy and birth control. She would never have children with Inuyasha until they were both ready and on the same page. It’s only natural that Inuyasha would be a bit relutant. Pregnancy can be dangerous. Besides, there was always the possibility of Kagome getting as ostracized as his mother got for it. And Inuyasha never really had a father figure to look up to, so the idea of becoming one himself must be challenging and terrifying to him.
But of course, in Yashahime, none of that is remotely a thing and way too much time has passed in which Inukag was supposedly considering to have children while Sesshomaru just went there and did it. Sesshomaru, of all people. And not only one, but two children. With a human. Who apparently gave birth before Kagome did. And that human is Rin. Rin, of all people. See how the premise gets more and more strange with every new detail?
Inukag would have to wait, yes. But the exact amount of time they waited in Yashahime just made it look like the list of reasons I mentioned, the ones that would have fleshed out the characters decisions (and that was never showed on screen time, as much as I know), were just a secondary thing and the real reason they had to wait was an external decision (from the writers) so that Rin would be older and her pregnancy wouldn’t look as disturbing to the audience (it still did).
Do you realize how crazy that is? They turned the main characters of the original series into a plot device to favour a character that was pretty much a plot device on the original series. They made Sesshomaru, who canonically never even kissed anyone on screen, have sex. With a human, a race that by the end of the series, he was still not a fan of, with the exception of one, maybe two children. Producing hanyou twins, a race that by the end of the series, he still despised, given he never truly reconciled with his hanyou brother because he was a  hanyou. And all of that with the girl, the child, he had helped by stepping on the role of her guardian and most trusted adult.
If Inukag, that had 193 episodes of development, had to wait, it makes no sense that Sesshomaru and Rin wouldn’t have to wait even more. Especially when the fans of that couple love to say how much Rin changed Sesshomaru’s intolerant ways and how their relationship shifted from platonic to romantic when she became an adult. If that was truly the case, time would be their friend, not their enemy. The more time has passed, more room Sesshomaru would have for character development and Rin could finally grow (literally and metaphorically) into the badass, independent woman they claim her to be. Only time would have made their situation remotely believable for some people (I personally still have more issues with the couple than just that) so it’s something they should have pursuing, rather than avoiding. But interestingly enough, most of the fans seem really fine with what they got.
The whole thing gets even more ridiculous when you remember the well sealing Inuyasha and Kagome away from each other. We debate and write about why it closed and why it opened againg, what it meant to the story plot wise. But the fact that Kagome was fifteen when the story began and the well spent exactly three years closed, makes pretty obvious what the intention was: to make Kagome eighteen when she decided to be with Inuyasha for good. Now look at the $essr!n situation and tell me if the well drama doesn’t feel futile and unnecessary in comparison. Kagome was older than Rin. Why did she have to stay away from her love interest and Rin didn’t, then? Why after all that trouble, Rin still had children before Kagome? At so much a younger age than Kagome?
So yeah, the Moroha being born relatively later issue makes me feel way more robbed (and frankly insulted) than the Mirsan kids thing. So does the fact that apparently all of the characters, especially Koga, Miroku and Sango thought that just because Inukag didn’t come back from the Sesshomaru and Wat’s-His-Name encounter, they were dead. And didn’t even seek justice for their so called friends. Or support their supposedly orphaned child.
I’m sorry for the rant, but this is only because I don’t take that shit as canon and never will. If I did, it would probably be even longer and way less polite.

The Handler is really a fascinating character to me as is her dynamic with Five and how alike they are. Get ready because I’m gonna go on a tangent about them.
I think it goes without saying that in many ways The Handler and Five are very similar people. They’re both pragmatic, goal orientated, cold, and quite simply, both willing to do absolutely anything needed to achieve what they want despite the repercussions others might face at their expense. They both lack a significant level of humanity, something that clearly is a requirement  to be able to do the work they do/did at the Commission. They are constantly at a battle of wits  and attempting to one up the other, both proving to be a formidable foil to the other consistently throughout the show.
Where things start to contrast between the two is how they grew to be the people they are now. With Five, well, we know why he is the way he is. Five isn’t simply just a product of his childhood. Yes, he still retains a good level of characteristics from his youth into adulthood (arrogant, brash, sees himself as better than everyone else) but Five ultimately was sculpted into the man he is today due to his time subjected to the apocalypse and then shortly after, the Commission.
The apocalypse did a number on Five. It isolated him for over four decades. It tore layer after layer of humanity away from him until he was left so distanced from other people that segueing into becoming an assassin was like second nature. It forced him to become entirely dependent on himself for survival in every aspect of the word. Physically, of course, he had to take care of all his basic survival needs; food, water, shelter, first aid, etc. Mentally and emotionally? He created a whole ‘nother person in the form of a mannequin to help him retain any semblance of either of those things. It damaged Five so deeply that afterwards he was left almost entirely incapable of empathy (key word, almost), unable to ask others for help/acknowledge he needs help, and able to see assassination as a reasonable means to justify an end.
Five was left broken by the apocalypse. He is a product of it. And after going through that traumatic ordeal, he was offered a way out but only through accepting employment at the organization that sat by and allowed his suffering to go on for decades. (I’d love to go into the body modifications/DNA manipulation but that isn’t canon compliant for the show anyway (yet) so I won’t). He was transformed into the perfect killing machine. He took the lives of anyone and everyone who stood out of line by the Commission’s standards. Many who I’m sure weren’t actually bad people (ex, Lila’s parents), but because they were deemed irregularities in the timeline (or they were someone who The Handler could benefit from their death, ex Lila’s parents), they had to go. One doesn’t complete a task like that regularly without lacking a level of morality or connection to fellow humankind.
But The Handler? We don’t really know her back story at all, so perhaps this is going out on a limb here, but I can at the very least say that she did not go through what Five did. There is really no one in the series whose backstory can equate to Five’s. And while I am not entirely excusing Five for being a shitty person sometimes, he and The Handler are very different in the fact that while he was sculpted into one, I think The Handler was just born an awful, monstrous human being. Actually worse than Five. And you know why?
The Handler isn’t even capable of love or empathy or putting anyone else before herself. We don’t see this at all, not even once. The Handler does things strictly for the benefit of herself and no one else. Even when her own self proclaimed daughter asks her if she ever loved her, The Handler doesn’t answer and then proceeds to murder her. Que sera, sera. (Whatever will be, will be). No remorse. No regret. Nothing.
Five, for all of his faults and flaws and uh, murder, still remains more connected to humanity than The Handler. Despite everything he has experienced, everything he has lost, he still has an inkling of heart that’s still beating for others left in him. Because Five still does love and care for people - his entire life purpose is to keep those people, his family, safe and alive, even at the expense of his own happiness and life. Five puts his family before himself every episode, every damn step of the way. He survives 40+ years alone and then works as an assassin for an unspoken measurement of time, all to save his family.
The Handler throws up the front of being a people person and charming. And she does it really damn well. But in reality she is not morally gray. She doesn’t do some good things and some awful things. She is just all around horrible. She employs Five, again, to work for the organization that tore so much away from him. She dangles the idea of a new body before him, gives him a suit with the claim, “clothing make the man, Five,” as if he isn’t something to be taken seriously in his current physical state, as if he still isn’t the man who survived a lifetime in the end of the world and becoming an assassin. She claims that Five owes her because she ‘saved him from a lifetime of being alone’, which in actuality she watched and allowed him to suffer exactly just that. (I have another meta on here about that scene in particular, which you can read HERE). She tricks Five into murdering the board so she can assume power, all under the guise of claiming to help him get his family back to 2019, only to then use him as a scapegoat in their assassination. She literally kills him (almost) and all of his siblings. She writes the kill order on Lila’s parents, lets Five kill them, and then kidnaps Lila all for her own benefit. She continuously lies to her, ultimately betrays her, and kills her too. She sees zero wrongness in kidnapping a disabled boy from his mother so she can transform him into her weapon just like she did Lila. There isn’t a single instance in the entirety of the show where The Handler shows even an ounce of regret, only shock and anger when things don’t go her way. She is power hungry, merciless, and quite possibly even deranged with how unemotive she is towards other human beings.
And one more thing I want to touch on with The Handler that is a bit of a controversial topic in the show - her handsey-ness with Five. Her unnecessary touching and closeness. I am a firm non believer of the idea many have that her and Five used to be involved romantically or physically in any way. I think it’s quite a reach to imagine Five trusting her whatsoever at any point during their time knowing one another. Five is observant as hell and smart - I just can’t see him ever having an ounce of trust in her, especially with again, how she blatantly admits to him when they first meet that the Commission has been watching him for some time. So no, I don’t think her creepy touches with him have anything to do with a former fling (even if Kate or Aidan play into it that way or claim they might have in the past - sorry, headcanon not accepted lol).
I view her behavior as demeaning. I see it as her being condescending towards him, like, “Oh, see how you betrayed me and now look at how you fucked up. Small and weak and nothing to be taken seriously.” She treats him like the tiny child he has physically become and she does it to make him feel inferior and like he has no control of the situation he is in or his life. It’s a slap in the face, a reminder of what he has done to himself because he left the Commission, and she does it because she knows how much it bothers him to be perceived that way. Everything she does and says around Five, she does to make him feel small.
All in all, I really do love The Handler. Do I love that she played a larger role in season 2 than Carmichael? Absolutely not. I don’t love what her character did for the writing or the plot of the show and how it backburnered a lot of things. I think they missed out greatly on a character who was already a fascinating antagonist to Five (Carmichael). However, Kate Walsh is an absolute delight to watch on screen. Her and Aidan have great chemistry and play off one another very well and their scenes are certainly some of my most favorite to watch. I think The Handler is an amazing villain and keeping her as a female as opposed to a male Jon Hamm esque actor as they originally were intending to do was a great idea IMO. I love a female bad ass, even if she is a villain. I’m sad we won’t see more of her purely because she is so fun to watch (and her wardrobe is utter goals) but I’m definitely ready to move on to the next set of antagonists for our favorite dysfunctional family.

I wasn't going to reply, because what I have to say is a bit charged, and the least thing I want is to make you uncomfortable in your space, but your tags indicated you wanted us to interact so I thought I might as well. I do have to apologise in advance in case of anything, it is really not my intention to upset, but I also feel this needs a reply. I think in retrospect, having read what I wrote back, this might not have even been about reluctance as much as I'm starting to think that post triggered my fight or flight response.
That anon that complained about Yashahime, I can understand the gripe to some extent, and no one ever really said the season is perfect, there were moments in the season that could have been done better, especially partaining to pacing, but especially now when we know there will be more coming, and that what we got is hardly the whole deal, to act like sessrin is reduced to just that first season is ridiculous. Quite frankly even so, their dynamic wasn't impacted at all, they're the same dynamic we all fell in love with, but they're put in a difficult situation... which, sure, ok... but... that's just... storytelling? There needs to be a story... to tell? I'm not sure what exactly people expected honestly.
Maybe not necessarily this case, but most times when I've seen people say that, what they mean is they see Sunrise's portrayal of Rin as a "complacent breeder", which honestly is offensive, false, and also just weird in the context of both the plot and the dynamic, especially if and when you understand it. Or they call Rin useless, apparently that's a thing too now... in any case, it sets some of my alarms off, I think valid critique is most welcome, but the things thay I've seen spewed around here under the guise of "criticism", hardly really qualify as that at all and are said in bad faith.
On a personal note, and this is more why I was reluctant to reply, people who are overly obsessed with fictive characters' ages make me uncomfortable, and dare I say, outright give me the creeps. If you have that much trouble distancing yourself from fiction to the point where you need to know pixel ages down to the last second since their "birth", that you can't even enjoy a character dynamic lest it abides by the bible, that to me is a big red flag, and more often than not people who are so concerned with them are antis/fancops, in other words, abusers. If the person who sent that is who I think they are, then for sure it's a fancop, and when they say "bully", they mean they were called out for harassing artists and spewing terfery, and despite them outright hurting people, and overall being harmful, when that was called into question, rather than hold themselves accountable, they took to fleeing and painting a narrative.
Returning to topic and to the characters' ages business, I'm also suspicious of anyone at all who allocates time to argue about Rin's age any one way or another, because Rin has never even had a canon age as per the original material, and quite frankly it's irrelevant. But I guess that's a hot take, to say that the fake numbers slapped on a fake, nonexistent character, are fake and have no real importance. It just makes me very curious how some are so certain Rin is 16 or younger when there are no sources to be cited either pro or against. Even with assumptions of her age in Inuyasha, which are for the most part a consensus across the whole Inufandom, and subsequent calculations based on Kagome's age and the timeline, most of the time Rin's age results around 17 if you read an analysis done in good faith. The only ones who age her down, and can't even settle on 1 single age for her, since depending on which of them you ask they'll say anything between 12-16... are yet again the fancops. Most people ship things because they enjoy a dynamic, characters' personalities that compliment each other and so forth, it's never about character ages™ or shipping the right™, most realistic™, most morally coherent with our real life views™ thing, and being perfomative and trying to turn it into that has singlehandedly hurt more people, and been the most dangerous turn fandom could have ever taken.
Okay! Let's dive in!
I agree with you. The first season wasn't perfect. it did have it's flaws, but that's what a first season is. It's to set up the characters and the world they live in. I'm not saying next season will be better, but it has room to grow. There is still story left, it's not finished yet.
You are definitely right about this! Rin is in no way a "breeder" or "useless". It's extremely rude to call someone a breeder just because they want/have children. That is very misogynist and reduces women to basically nothing. What's worse is that some of the people who say that are also women so they are saying that themselves and all women are worthless and that is not the case.
Yes, Rin's age was never specified. At the end of the day her age is basically a headcanon. We don't know how old she was when she married Sesshomaru or gave birth to the twins. She could have been 14 or 16 or 17. It was super common back then for people to marry and have kids at a young age. Even today people are having children at that age. But again we don't know how old she was! It shouldn't be a problem and it shouldn't be obsessed over. Just say what you think her age is and go.
Obsessing over a fictional ship/characters isn't healthy. Other than liking sessrin I have responsibilities in the real world. I have a life outside of fandoms that I'm in. I also agree with you, people who obsess over her age or actively showing their hate for a ship makes me super uncomfortable. It's like "okay we get it you don't like sessrin. We don't care as long as you don't harass us just because of lines on a screen." It's nice to like shows and ships but people shouldn't only be contributing to hate. It's unnecessary and a waste of time.
To sum up everything, and to the people who keep spreading hate, here is a quote of my favourite meme: "Calm down son, it's just a drawing."

Irish-American musician speaking. I just want to say a couple of things (a) i appreciate that other people are at least willing to criticise Jeff (even though i don’t agree that he was copying “ethnic” styles of music because that’s just bullshit and he was just going for a specific feeling, because that’s how music works) and (b) i really appreciate that this blog takes James' character seriously and not whatever the fecking hell the writers think they've done.
i did want to say that i'm really upset about it as a person with an autistic specturm disorder. i doubt the writers (bless their hearts) realised it, but the semblance they gave James is one of the hallmark signs of ASDs, especially in adults and young people. given the way they've always written him until the end of season seven, i really related to him and his struggles for a variety of reasons. i could get just as angry about the way they've portrayed military service (my dad is a similar ranking to the character and has been through some shit) especially given that a lot of people in my family have or are serving, but i get the sense that everyone sees how problematic that demonstration is. the former is a lot more subtle, and it honestly upsets me more.
and then there's all the bullshit surrounding Penny (they should have just left her dead or given Winter the powers to begin with for fuck's sake). firstly, i'm just going to come out and say that i've hated the way they've used vocal music to bash us over the heads with messages the last few volumes. Cinder's TWO (whyyyyyyy) songs in just that one episode this volume were basically narrating what was on screen which took away from the moments and the second one during her fight with her mentor was just plain bad. i thought those two were the worst we were going to get but apparently i was wrong and we get whatever the hell "Friend" is. (although i will say i bet the only reason they threw in that second song for Cinder was because Casey just had to get publicity for her shitty band). but look. i'm lgbtqia myself and it really (especially considering Penny and Ruby's intereactions) felt like queerbaiting/bury your gays but i'll set that aside. making Penny human (a) took away the only unique/interesting thing left about her character and (b) her death was essentially a glorifying suicide "for the greater good" which really slaps in the face of people who have honestly suffered from depression and suicide.
this isn't the first time that they've shyed away from trying to explore serious subjects, but it is particuarly gross because of the song. an earlier example of them doing this is with regard to "the path to isolation" when Casey felt the need to say Weiss has never cut and that she wouldn't do that. while that was (to say the very least) a bit uncomfortable for her to just drop that, it sounded like she just wanted to avoid talking about the subject because it's too dark. i have a lot of problems with Casey and her actions over the years, but i think it's important to note that SHE WROTE PENNY'S SONG. she is the one responsible for this, and she keeps talking about how great it is and how "humbling" the experience was. bitch no. you can't just take only praise and get mad about critisicism to the point where you basically recieve none anymore.
besides, Casey is pretty hard to understand because she STILL doesn't enucniate much when she sings so if she and her dad are going to keep being basically worshipped hand and foot by people while recieving no criticism even where it is due, then they shouldn't be in this or music. part of being a musician is that you SHOULD be critiqued by your peers and even by just casual listeners but that doesn't happen and they (but especially her) don't improve. by no means do i think Casey and Jeff are the worst of CRWBY, but they are part of the problems with tone in the storytelling and they should be critiscised for it more.
oh god this is a long ask & it’s like a month late, please forgive me.
yeah, my issue with the whole jeff issue was never that he was “copying” ethnic music, though there is a discussion to be had when that music comes from closed off cultures like my own & others & how that should be respected, but that this vague claim by someone who’s lied to push their headcanons before was using it to claim ruby & summer were romani coded when there has been anti gypsyism sentiment in crwby before via arryn’s sexualization of us. i simply don’t trust these white americans to write any gypsy ethnic groups’ stories with any sense of respectability & it was on a baseless headcanon anyways so. that frustration was easy enough to let die down.
i also have a lot of issues with how ironwood was treated, especially as a disabled person & some of the fndm’s insistence to treat this fictional military as a 1 to 1 representation of the flawed militaries in our world is just utterly frustrating. especially when they use that to justify theirs & crwby’s ableism towards one of the few disabled characters we had on screen. i don’t have a place to speak on any autistic representation or harm from ironwood or his semblance because i’m not autistic but i am sorry that you were harmed & upset by this portrayal of a semblance that isn’t even canon, because it features nowhere in the text explicitly. hell, ironwood’s va had to be told what his semblance was from a fan. all this harm & hurt & it’s for something that isn’t even featured in the story. ridiculous.
i’m really trying not to waffle on in this ask because it is so long already but yes yes yes. i agree with you completely, the way that songs are crafted for this world & featured into it most of the time doesn’t fit with what we’re shown on screen. weiss’s songs feature a patriarchy & go over the same arc like five times, as well as those lines alluding to self harm. jeff & casey can cry that they didn’t mean it that way but there are certain themes brought to mind with certain wordings & you have to be mindful of this when you write them; we had this same issue with people believing mercury was sexually abused by marcus because “i’m the one” featured the word defiled, which is most used in a sexual context. when we come to learn that it meant his soul was ruined by his father stealing his semblance, that still didn’t erase the sexual allegory & jeff should have been mindful of those types of themes when he’s writing these songs. often times it feels like the songs & the show are giving us two different stories & both give off different meanings & themes.
not being able to take criticism seems like a common theme in crwby, self admittedly from miles himself who said he “wants” to take criticism but doesn’t like it when “it’s done in a mean way.” that criticism has to be fair & nice, which is a solid sentiment, no one’s going to listen if you’re being an asshole but here’s the rub. nothing is ever nice or fair enough for them. they always find a way to turn even the most innocent of criticisms or questions into a personal attack & it’s pathetic. jeff & casey aren’t exempt from this. like you said, part of being a musician is criticism from your peers & much like you don’t need to be a chef to tell if there’s dogshit on your plate, you don’t need to be a writer or a rock star to tell when a story isn’t making sense or a song isn’t good.
& for fucks sake, i’m with you on them needing to enunciate better. i’m hoh, please jeff & casey, it’s hard enough for me to try & listen to songs that i want to enjoy without having to wonder what word you’re mumbling for this third rhyme in bad luck charm. fuck that song’s rhymes.

tear-salted popcorn
—while doing your job as a movie theatre janitor, you come across a boy who stayed back after a movie and oh shit is he crying?!
pairing(s): kenma x reader
word count: 1273
warnings: spoilers for avengers: infinity war
a/n: on this installment of saturn uses ellipses too much!!! i headcanon that kenma likes marvel also i wrote this in dec 2018 but coming back to edit this i literally had to research what happened in infinity war cause for some reason everything i think happened in infinity war probably happened in endgame o_o
Tumblr media
Bucket and mop in hand, you sighed as you walked into Theatre 7 for your last job of the day.
As a student living in Tokyo, it was no surprise you needed extra pocket money. Unfortunately, your parents had taken the liberty to cut off your monthly allowances, forcing you to get a job. As it turned out, a movie theatre near you was hiring, the pay was good enough, and you were even able to get an employee discount sometimes, so all-in-all in wasn’t too bad.
As you entered the doorway of the theatre, you noticed something was a bit off. Before you were even able to start ascending up the dreaded stairs, you heard a cry that sounded an awful lot like a sniffle.
From the corner of your eye, you see a hooded figure sitting in one of the seats. The figure was in what looked like a white Avengers hoodie (with the hood up), black jeans and brown boots. As you drew closer, you realized that the figure was a boy with his knees drawn up to his chest.
Just as curiosity almost got the better of you, you remembered your promise to yourself to be home by 10:30pm to make sure you had time to finish that science project that was due tomorrow. Keeping that in mind, you decided to get to cleaning. The faster I finish this, the faster I get home, you thought. Your coworkers that had shifts before you had already done most of the cleaning in this theatre, so all you had to do was mop up the steps.
Trusty mop in hand, you set the bucket of water on the floor and started cleaning. It was a complete coincidence that you had decided to start cleaning the same row the mysterious boy was sitting in.
A few minutes pass.
Only a few seats away from the boy, you could now see what was happening. The boy, around your age, give or take a year or two, had his knees tucked to his chest, cradling an XXL bucket of regular, salted popcorn, between his thighs and tears streaming down his face.
Off the top of your head, you tried to remember what movie had just been playing. Black Panther? No, that was Theatre 4… The Incredibles 2? No, that wasn’t really a movie to cry over… but I guess everyone has their preferences? You tried to take another ‘subtle’ look at the boy and that’s when you finally connected the dots.
Avengers: Infinity War! You concluded. You, yourself, had already seen it the week before, as soon as it came out. However, judging by the amount of tears on this guy’s face, he had managed to avoid all spoilers in the past week.
You contemplated his options. On one hand, most people don’t really appreciate being approached by strangers while they’re crying, but as you mopped the sticky, movie theatre floor, you couldn’t help but find the boy cute. After cleaning the majority of the first staircase, you decide to say ‘fuck it’ and approached the boy.
“Hey, um, are you okay?” you asked the boy with a nervous tint to your voice. The boy’s face snapped up with widened eyes as he tried to hide his sniffles. After regaining his composure, he dropped his feet to the floor, exposing a Marvel logo on the front. You mentally pat yourself on the back for being able to guess Avengers: Infinity War without seeing what he was wearing. He responded.
“Yeah, I um, just finished, uh, you know…” the boy vaguely gestured to the now black and empty movie screen.
“Oh… Infinity War?” You questioned as he indicated to the boy’s hoodie.
“Yeah…” an awkward silence proceeded and you were having none of it. Switching your mop to your left hand, you thrusted your right hand out.
“I’m y/n, by the way, I work here… ” After raising his eyes to meet you suspiciously, the boy reluctantly thrusted his hand out as well.
“I’m Kenma…”
“So, Kenma, what was your favourite part? I mean… it is a pretty depressing movie, but, you know, there were some good parts, right?” You asked apprehensively, trying to dissolve the awkwardness.
“Well, I guess I really liked the battle scenes? Especially the one in Wakanda, that was pretty epic.” replied Kenma.
“Yeah I loved that part! It was really cool to see so many different characters fighting together.” You suddenly exclaimed, Kenma nodded in agreement. “I, personally, really liked any parts with the Guardians, they’re really entertaining and have just the right amount of comic relief while still being able to be serious when they need to be.” You rambled.
This girl really was really… energetic, he thought, not in a bad way considering he was suppressing a smile. After that hell of a movie, it was almost kind of endearing how you were trying to cheer him up. After a while of you talking about how the Guardians saga was probably one of the best ever, it became silent again before Kenma spoke up.
“I really should get going… it’s getting pretty late, and, um, sorry for holding you up,” Kenma awkwardly said as he got up.
You bit your lip.
“I’ll walk you to the entrance! I’m basically done so… we can walk together!” You said as you clutched your mop with both hands, right before you mentally cursed and slapped yourself for sounding so eager. Kenma blinked.
“Um, well, I-I mean, if you really want to that’s okay?” He sounded uncertain of himself. “It’s fine, though, if you need to do… other things?” You laughed a bit.
“It’s all cool! I didn’t really need to mop the other side, anyway!” You totally did.
Mentally cringing at the thought of not finishing your work to hang out with a boy you just met, you gave him a reassuring smile. Reciprocating your smile, Kenma stood and you leaned the mop against a random aisle seat.
You walked out of Theatre 7 and headed towards the entrance, talking about everything from how OP Doctor Strange is, to how cool and almost relatable Peter Parker is, to the heart breaking ending, Kenma almost bursting out into tears at the line Peter’s lines “I don’t feel so good” and “I don’t wanna go”.
You were pretty sad when you got to the main entrance of the cinema, as it meant saying goodbye to your (hopefully) new friend. Kenma shifted awkwardly.
“Well… this is me…” You smiled.
“I guess it is, it was fun talking to you though!” Kenma opened his mouth before closing it again. He hesitated, then finally spoke up.
“Uhm, is it okay if I, um… Could I have your number?” You could tell he was extremely nervous, but out of all the things you were expecting, asking for your number was definitely not one of them, “Maybe we could, I don’t know, talk about other movies? Maybe even watch the second part when it comes out…? Even though that’s, like, in a year…” You finally snapped out of your daze.
“Uhm, yeah! Of course! And, I know it’s in a year but let’s definitely go together, I can get us a discount if we come here, too!” You grinned. Kenma smiled, mentally, he slapped himself for getting stomach butterflies for an almost-date in a year’s time.
bonus: dw you exchanged numbers and after he left, you went back to clean the other side of stairs. when you got home you did NOT do your science project but instead kenma invited you to play on his minecraft server :)

Hell is a Nine to Five Max Philips x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Max Philips is your new boss at your hellscape of a job. He can’t help but be drawn to you and when he learns your lineage and last name (Harker) he fears this may put a dwindle on his plans. But it wouldn’t be a bad idea to ask you out though,,,right?
Chapter summary: Max doesn’t show up until next chapter this one is just set up about your place in the office environment. And for those who don’t know her last name is Harker as in Jonathan Harker from dracula. Don’t worry future chapters will be full of that sweet sweet tension and yearning.
@ithinkhesgaybutwesavedmufasa this legend has fucking iconic writing and got me to watch bloodsucking bastards and HERE I AM. Please check out their stuff yall holy shit.
“Yo Harker!”
Your eyes flicked away from your computer screen just in time to see your grinning blonde coworker push himself over to you in his cubicle chair with a flourish. “Mike is kicking my ass this round and I know somewhere under all that nerd there is a girl who loves video games, tap in?” He pointed to his own cubicle, his computer screen flashing with some video game that he and 90% other men on the floor were constantly playing. You knew this because no matter how loud your sales call was, you can always hear him scream profanities in agony when he inevitably gets killed by some other dumbass who should also be doing his job instead of playing video games like a fifteen year old with a rattail.
You feigned interest for a moment, before your focus went back to your screen, fingers tapping away on the too-damn-old-and-fucking-sticky-to-properly-work keyboard so you can finish this report that Mike was suppose to have done...Yesterday.
“Hard pass.”
“Oh come on!” Tim pushed his chair closer to you so he could slump his head on your shoulder, but you remained focused on the task at hand. The task being doing your goddamn job which nobody on that floor seemed to do. “I've got to piss like a racehorse but if I drop this round I owe him fifty bucks!”
Okay. That got your attention.
“Where the hell did you get fifty bucks?” You pushed yourself away from your tiny desk for a moment, wheely chair spinning to face him. “I know for a fact that not even ten fucking minutes ago you asked Evan if he could spot you a twenty so you could pay Dave for the NBA pool that you always lose.”
Tim opened his mouth for a moment before closing it with a huff. “You fucking suck, you know that Harker?”
“Love you too Tim.”
That’s how your work days went.
Spend hours on end stuck in a windowless room, hunched over a computer from the fucking 90’s, doing not only your work, but the work of 70% of your coworkers who are too busy playing video games, gossiping, or watching porn to even pretend like they're doing their job. Occasionally Tim would try to pull you away to tag in for him on his video games, rate the new interns, or make fun of Evan during your lunch break.
Speaking of which.
The fluorescent lighting wasn’t any less nauseating in the breakroom, but it offered you a slightly lower volume of the endless ringing of phones, piss poor marketing tactics used by your coworkers to convince people to buy whatever dogshit product you had to push for the week, and the oh-so-obnoxious shouts of Mike, who’s main purpose in life was to bully nine-year-olds who he played video games with.
“That’s right you fucking pussy! I’m the king!”
Keyword: slightly lower volume.
“All I’m saying is that you're one of the smartest people here.” Tim plunked himself down in the plastic chair to your right, while Andrew sat on your left. “You’re always doing work-”
“Because I’m at work.”
“-you can type without looking at your hands-”
“Really not that complicated of a skill but okay.”
“-And you're not easily distracted!”
“Because nothing in this hellhole is worth my attention.” You mumbled into your sandwich, which was then flung out of your grasp and onto the floor as Tim slapped you on the back with what you assumed was supposed to be gusto.
Five second rule maybe?
“Which is exactly why you-oh my bad sorry- but that is why you should team up with me and Andrew to kick Mike’s pimply ass!”
Andrew’s face scrunched up in disgust. “Dude. I agree with you but I could do without the description.”
You stood up to retrieve your fallen turkey on rye. Looks like you're going without lunch today “Yeah, I second that notion.”
“Listen I just think-”
Evan, your lanky acting sales manager walked into the breakroom with purpose, and coincidentally, right onto your lunch.
Yup. Definitely no saving that.
“Hey Tim, have you started on the Phallicite presentation yet?”
Tim froze, stroking his chin in fake thought before letting out a sharp laugh “Yeah no.” Evan threw his head back and groaned. “Sorry buddy.”
“Come on man! Could you please, just this once-”
“I already did it.” You cut in, Evan turning to you, bagged eyes wide.
“Wait, really?”
“Yeah.”
He blinked twice, then again before his mouth hung open.“Like..like the WHOLE presentation? All on your own?”
You shrugged, shifting awkwardly from foot to foot in front of him as you waited for him to take his foot off your fucking sandwich. “Yeah. stayed overnight yesterday because I knew damn well Tim wasn’t gonna do it-”
“Rude but fair deduction Hark.”
“-so I pieced something together. I emailed it to you ten minutes ago. Now all you have to do is nail the actual presenting part.”
Relief washed over your not-acting-sales-manager-but-still-kind-of-sales-manager’s face. “Oh thank you so much Harker, really. That means a lot. If we land this then-”
Enough was enough.
“You're standing on my sandwich.”
“What?” Evan looked down at his feet and winced at the site of your squashed lunch under his shoe. “Shit. Sorry Harker.”
You gave your food one last wistful glance before shrugging. “It’s fine. My break is almost over anyway.”
“Harker.” Mike snorted. “I’m pretty sure you’re the only goddamn person who adheres to a timed lunch schedule. Just stay over! Who the fuck cares?”
You stuffed your water bottle back into the fridge before standing up straight. “This job may suck ass, but it’s the only one I have and I don’t feel like losing it. So I do what I can to keep it.”
You turned on your heel, their voices dying as you walked back to your desk. As you sat down, the hairs on your neck seemed to stand and a prickle went down your spine, you turned around to see if anything was out of the ordinary.
Coworkers not doing their job? Check.
Interns being taken advantage of? Check.
Broken clocks still broken because it keeps employees from constantly seeing if it’s time to leave? Double check.
You pushed your paranoia away and answered a sales call, though the feeling never truly left you until the work day was over and you were driving out of the parking lot.
Notes: Anywhomst chapter one is just set up of your place in the work place, as well as relationship to the other characters. In future chapters their will be plenty of interaction between you and max, as well as a deeper look into your family line! Please don’t hesitate to send me reuquests and headcanons i need some fuckin interaction lmao

I’m going to tell you the story of why I love Godzilla.
When I say not to make fun of an autistic person’s special interests, I say it from a place of deep understanding and pain. For me, an autistic SpIn is like being in love, or (for the aro folks out there), it’s like being with your best friend ever and it just feels so comfortable and good.
Sooooo in January my dad mentions wanting to watch KOTM with me. Any excuse to watch KOTM is good, so of course I jumped on it. We watched Godzilla KOTM. It’s the movie I spent all of 2019 talking about from January to May. I got it for Christmas 2019 because mom knew I was going to want it as soon as the first roar hit the screen in the theater. (I took her to see it as a Mother’s Day gift, she liked it too.)
Lemme tell y’all something: when I was a young kid, my dad got me into Godzilla. Starting when I was around 5, he told me the stories of the movies he’d seen (the whole Showa era and Godzilla 1985). So I knew about Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah, Minya, MechaGodzilla, Gigan, Hedorah, Megalon, etc long before I ever saw them.
My dad said “these are important characters.”
Then he started renting the movies when he felt I was old enough to not be scared by them (age 7 in 1987) and pointed out who was who.
And my first ‘real meeting’ with Godzilla was the same as the people in 1954, when he popped his head over that hill and roared that haunting sound I never forgot, and I was hooked forever.
Tumblr media
I loved it. I loved all of it. Dad warned me about the ending of the ‘54 movie, so I wasn’t surprised by it, but I still cried! He got me over it by showing the the rest of them, as if to go “see, he’s okay!” Then dad warned me that Godzilla was ‘the bad guy’ again in Godzilla 1985, but didn’t tell me how it ended. I was reaaaaally upset when he fell into that volcano. I probably cried about it for three days. That scream still hits something in my soul.
My favorite childhood Godzilla movie is Godzilla’s Revenge. It’s the first Godzilla movie I ever owned. I loved Ichiro’s dreams of making friends with Minya, outsmarting his kidnappers and standing up to his bullies. I even tried to pick up Monster Island using a little portable am/fm radio I had as a kid. It didn’t work, all I got was static, but I sure tried! 😋
I wanted to be an island lady like Saeko from Son of Godzilla who could call monsters for help. I wanted to be a cyborg like Katsura, except I would use MechaGodzilla to make friends with Godzilla instead of trying to hurt him.
Anyway...
Dad’s interest in Godzilla stuff kinda dropped away as the 90s hit and my autistic traits began to make me deviate more and more noticeably from my peers. I had seen all the Showa era movies, so he stopped telling stories because there weren’t any more to tell.
Tumblr media
My love for Godzilla carried on into the Heisei era and beyond. Dad acted like I should “leave that crap behind” when I kept buying movies and talking about them to him. He didn’t want to watch them with me or look at pictures in the Godzilla Compendium I picked up.
I didn’t stop my enthusiasm for Godzilla, I just stopped sharing it with dad. I kept at it through high school. I sobbed over Godzilla vs Destroyah because I thought that was the end of the franchise, and I can’t even mention what happened to Godzilla in that movie. If you’ve seen it, you know.
In the year 1998 the rumblings for the ‘98 movie started around New Years, so of course I made noise about going to see it. Because GODZILLA, y’all!
Tumblr media
Well, dad surprised me and took me to see Godzilla ‘98 when it came out. I had been bugging about going to see it and he kept giving me a hard no, then had me convinced we were going to a baseball game that night instead. I did nothing to disguise my boredom or hurt in the car, and it broke when we pulled up to the theater. Okay, he pulled a fast one on me and he said I did an emotional 180 spin, but it was worth it. (I still like that movie, but I don’t call that creature Godzilla. I call him Zilla or GINO instead.)
Literally right after that my dad would get mad if I talked about Godzilla. He griped that I was “so obsessed with that stupid monster” and that I needed to grow up. I was almost 18, and I had, just not the way HE wanted, I guess...
Tumblr media
Godzilla 2000 came out. Dad grudgingly took mom and me to see it, and I finally got to live my dream of seeing a legit Toho Godzilla movie in theaters. I was yelling and clapping (as were other people) and just had a huge blast. In the car, he told me to knock it off when I talked excitedly about what I liked in the movie. He slapped down all talk of Godzilla.
I still continued to be a fan. When more Millennium era movies came out, I grabbed them when I saw them on the shelves. I got everything from Godzilla vs Megaguirus to Godzilla: Final Wars in a little Japanese shop my dad found near where he worked at the time. I was in my early 20s then. I also got some figurines from that store: a Heisei era Mothra, a Heisei era King Ghidorah and a Millenium era (Final Wars) Godzilla. Dad rolled his eyes when I walked out with them in my arms.
And so began his weird pattern of indulging my interest, but getting upset at me if I talked about it. I was discovering the online fandom at this point, so I had another outlet, but still, it used to be our thing, and his behavior really stung.
I only discovered there were more movies in the Millenium era becuse I happened across GMK on HBO and realized I didn’t recognize that Godzilla suit or the setting.
Tumblr media
Then I missed the ending because of a very badly timed phone call. But I was like “omg more Godzilla movies...hey dad, can we go to that shop?” (And then I was like a dragon with treasure when I came home....)
I grabbed the two Kiryu movies first because a certain fanfic author in the fandom had written some Mechagodzilla fanfics where Kiryu (Kiryuu in her stories) was sentient and sexy af. The idea of the original Godzilla being brought back as a robot was amazing and that author basically took the idea and ran it to another level. She’s the reason I headcanon the 54 Gojira as Heisei Godzilla’s dad.
ANYWAY, I got all caught up on the Godzilla movies and blew up to a boiling fan girl froth when the 2014 movie got advertised.
Tumblr media
I took mom to see that becuse dad’s Parkinson’s had advanced so far that he couldn’t go out much anymore. Mom likes Godzilla movies and sci-fi in general. While she’s not as into it as me, she enjoys them for the entertainment. We both liked G2014, so I got it for Christmas.
We watched it with dad as a family, he said it was okay.
Tumblr media
Through 2016 and 2017 I was rattling on about Shin Godzilla. Got that as a late 37th birthday gift because it came out on dvd a few days after my actual birthday. I watched it for the first time with dad, and he complained the whole time and kind of ruined the experience for me, which pissed me off. HE was the one who wanted to watch it with me, now I wish I watched it alone instead.
2019 came, KOTM happened. So that brings me to sitting down to watch it with dad. I was excited see his reaction to the monsters he introduced me to in childhood realized with modern cgi effects and all. I love seeing things that remind me of happy times in my childhood, and I thought those memories were fond for him, too. So I watched, waiting for him to recognize Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah.
He said nothing when they came onscreen. I got engrossed in the movie and sort of forgot about it, but when it was over I bounced up and asked, “Wasn’t it cool to see the guys you told me stories about when I was 5?”
I thought back while I waited for him to answer. I thought back on the stories, the fun and the movies.
I thought back on how my love for this character has grown, and how in KOTM it was physically realized in that painful moment when Ishiro Serizawa looks up at Godzilla with such reverence and lays his hand on his snout. I feel like that was Dougherty telling all the fans he sees their love for Godzilla and gives them that one singular, intimate audience with the big guy through Serizawa. Because who wouldn’t want to give him a pat on the nose and thank him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The director of KOTM understands what Godzilla means to the fans. He understands how they feel and what they want. In my mind he gave it in spades.
But my dad...
My dad, the man who taught me enough to get me into Godzilla forever, looked at me in the eyes and said, “I don’t remember any of it. They’re not that important anyway.”
“These are important characters.” Much younger dad said to much younger me.
“They’re not that important anyway.” Older modern day dad said to older modern day me.
I thought my heart had stopped and my soul fled through the floor. This franchise, these characters he brought to me with such enthusiasm, something that grew into a lifelong love, meant nothing to him. It was as if he gave me a diamond and later told me it was worthless glass to him. Godzilla was and still is a huge part of my life and who I am, and dad acted like this “us” thing I thought we bonded over during my childhood didn’t matter to him.
It’s almost like he expected me to take passing interest and then move on, but because I’m autistic and because I relate to Godzilla so much, my interest turned into love and respect for the character, what he represents and the messages he has sent throughout the years.
Part of who I am is shaped, literally, by Godzilla, something that started because my dad told me he existed. And in a sentence my dad took that root from my childhood and ripped it out because he decided it was a worthless weed.
It’s not my love for Godzilla that was ripped out. It’s the love I thought my dad felt for me when he was telling me all those stories and showing me the movies. I’m sharing this because I love Godzilla, because I love what he represents and means to me, and I thought my dad shared it with me for the same reason. This is a very autistic thing...I’m sure autistic readers can feel my love for Godzilla just by reading this.
I thought my dad did, too, once.
But no. There was no love at all like I thought there was, so I was not pouring my love into an ocean that still existed, I was throwing it into a black hole.
Dad didn’t care to remember Rodan, or Mothra, or King Ghidorah. He didn’t care to remember what all that meant to me during my childhood because he doesn’t and never has cared about my feelings.
He doesn’t care about my feelings.
He wants me to shut up about Godzilla.
I will not.
I love Godzilla. I don’t need dad’s approval anymore. I will turn 40 this year (2020) and there is no stopping what began 35 years ago. The plant that grew around the root dad planted is shaped like me now, and like Biollante I will keep blooming because Godzilla was my first love fandom-wise and that admiration and love for him stands on its own.
Dad no longer has a say.
But, my God, my dad has this remarkable ability to tell me something is important when I’m young and then claim it isn’t so many years later. He’s done it for a lot of things, but hearing him say Godzilla isn’t important after instilling his importance into me at a young age just...gutted me...and it gutted me as much as the time he asked me what I did to make kids bully me when I was being bullied as a teen.
I got bullied because I’m autistic. I existed. He said it was my fault for being that way. I was a newly diagnosed teenager when he said that. It was 1995, ironically, the same year Godzilla vs Destroyah came out.
And I was an adult when he ripped at that root of Godzilla he planted in me.
Godzilla was the last part of my childhood that he hadn’t sunk his abuse into, but he finally did in January of 2020. Now there is no part of my life untouched by his emotionally abusive crap.
It shouldn’t hurt like this. I feel ridiculous to be hurt so deeply, but I can’t keep pretending that I’m not hurt by it anymore.
I will get over it. My absolute love and respect for Godzilla is something my dad can never destroy no matter how much he tries to shit talk about it. I’ve let him ruin so many things, but not Godzilla.
Godzilla will never be a trigger for me. He is an anti trigger. On this day of April 19, 2020, I’m realizing he is the protector my dad failed to be.
Tumblr media
To all parents of autistic kids, be careful that you don’t belittle the things you said were important when they were young. Don’t introduce something that becomes a special interest, say it’s important and then belittle it when they grow up.
Even if you don’t think it’s important anymore now, even if you think it’s silly now, even if you didn’t know they were autistic at the time and would dive in like that, it may still be important to them.
It may become their safe place. It may become treasure.
Don’t try to destroy that safety. Don’t treat it like trash.
