Ok I apologize if this is formatted badly I’m very autistic, but please read the whole thing before passing on judgement about me.

Because someone blocked me over it, yes, my best friend I’m in a QPR with is israeli. I’m sorry yall but to be frank she’s the one who educated me on how Zionism is evil and subsequently prevented me from becoming one, I’ve several times had doubts about the idea that “israel” shouldn’t exist and the only solution to this “conflict” is to dismantle it (which is true) and she calmly talked me out of it by outlining how it was a genocidal settler state from the very beginning and its continued existence will only ever harm Palestinians. I’m very susceptible to propaganda so if it weren’t for her I genuinely would have been a Zionist.

She did not serve in the IDF due to being lucky enough to get an exemption (not that she was going to if she didn’t, she was prepared to be thrown in prison if it meant not shooting Palestinians for the crime of existing), and is actively working on leaving the country so I’m not sure what else im supposed to do, she saved my life on many occasions and is the best friend I’ve ever had, so am I supposed to just dump her because she was unlucky enough to be born into a genocidal state as a member of the oppressor class? I’m sorry to be violating anti-imperialist principles but like… I can’t do that, I love her and need her and she’s doing everything she can to make the best of the situation.

We don’t choose our birth conditions and neither did she, she could have been yet another in the endless amount of genocidal Zionists but no, she unlearned and escaped that fucking death cult and is personally responsible for changing the hearts and minds of dozens when it comes to “israel”.

You can block me if you’d like, that’s fine, I just wanted to get this out of the way for my followers and mutuals so they’d have the full picture of who she is and why I’m associating with her despite being antizionist.

Danny commits to the Bit a bit too hard...

So! For the first few weeks after his accident, whenever Danny would try to help the people of Amity Park, he would be treated as a Villain.

No matter if he had just defeated the Big Bad of the Week or saved a Cat from a tree, everybody in town only saw him as a Monster or Villain to he feared and hunted down. Danny was really getting sick of trying to get them on his side, until Sam made a suggestion.

"Why not just...play into it?" She said, barely looking up from painting her nails.

It was just an offhand suggestion, but it stuck with Danny. Why shouldn't he lean into it? The people of Amity Park already saw Ghosts as Evil, and they already assumed he was in cahoots with the Ghosts attacking the town. Why shouldn't he just...play into it?

So he does just that.

From that day on, whenever Phantom was spotted he would dramatically monologue about his Evil Plans, or claim that another Rogues attack on the City was his own act of terror.

Box Ghost destroys the towns Warehouses? It was on his orders.

Ember mind controls masses of Teenagers? All part of his Plans somehow.

Every Adult in Town is kidnapped by Young Blood? Danny gave them over to a friend as a Gift.

He crafts an identity for himself as the most Vile and Horrible Ghost that has ever attacked the City, using his own infamy to cement his legend even more firmly. The town only sees a Monsterous Villain, who has eveded capture near effortlessly for months on end, who constantly attacks their City and gets away with it.

Of course he still needs an excuse for how his plans keep getting stopped, and he gets it when his girlfriend Valerie becomes the Red Huntress. Before that, he just claimed infighting or the Fentons getting lucky, but Valerie becoming the Town's Hero meant he had a plausible excuse for how he kept getting "Foiled".

Val was suspicious, because she was not as involved as Phantom painted her to be, but in the end she had no proof of him faking his defeats. And she couldn't come up with any explanations for why he would do that in the first place. I mean, who would fake being a Supervillain? It had to he something else.

This did come back to bite him a while later, when the Justice League decided that enough was enough, and dispatched Justice League Dark to recruit Red Huntress and help Deal with him.

Coincidentally, that was the same day Pariah Dark attacked the Mortal Realm and sucked Amity Park into the Ghost Zone.

And honestly? Danny had spent over a Year proclaiming himself as a Villain who commanded Ghosts to attack the Human Realm, and he had heard about the Right of Conquest being Absolute in the Ghost Zone, so why not make it official? Why not overthrow the Ghost King, become the Ghost King, and cement his identity as a Villain while also forbidding Ghosts from entering the Human Realm without his permission?

He may have gotten a bit carried away and forgotten that the Villain thing was a disguise...but hey! He was still preventing Ghost Attacks! ...mostly. That's got to count for something right?

He may have let the Bit run a bit too far...

A detail that really struck me while rereading TBOSAS is Coryo’s concern over Lucy Gray’s survival in the wild (p507).

Mind you, this comes after being bitten by the snake and chasing her in the forest with a gun. Coryo’s parting thought upon leaving a world that, according to his paranoia, is deadly to him, is of Lucy Gray. Even in the throws of hysteria, Coryo is hoping that Lucy Gray’s escape will be successful and he ensures that she’ll have the means to survive.

I find this duality in his feelings for her extremely fascinating: on one side he perceives her as a threat to his survival, and as such he hunts her down before she can do the same to him. However, once he realises that no one can harm him in the forest, his latent regard for Lucy Gray resurfaces as worry about her future wellbeing.

Once again, his behaviour reminds me a lot of Darth Vader’s final line ‘Where’s Padme? Is she safe?’ in Rots. I know for sure that Coryo wondered the same about Lucy Gray in the years and decades to come.

used to daydream about fairytale reconciliations after pretty much every platonic or romantic fallout i ever had, but sometimes it’s healthier to just accept that someone will never own up bc they don’t think you’re worth the trouble. anyone who truly cares would move mountains just to make sure that they communicate w you if they truly want to rectify the situation. but sometimes it’s their ego getting in the way, sometimes they have a narrative of you in their head they’re determined not to break, and sometimes they just don’t care enough about you to even consider it. they don’t have respect for the friendship or relationship in its posthumous state bc it was nothing to them, or at the very least it doesn’t eclipse their pride or their desire to appear correct in a situation or just outright the need to be done w the situation rather than be a good person. still guilty of this but i’ve been getting better at just nipping the delusion in the bud and just being okay w accepting that someone truly does not care. until they prove they do that is the assumption i go w every time. and it is saving me a lot of heartache

One of the earliest examples of Leo’s “I’ll do my own thing to accomplish our goal without discussing it with my team first” is in episode one. It’s super, super quick, and ultimately inconsequential, but it subtly sets up a great precedent that I think is very interesting.

When the boys need to grab the medallion from Splinter without Splinter noticing, Raph, Mikey, and Donnie huddle together with Raph taking the lead in trying to devise a plan to get the mystic device. Meanwhile, Leo slinks away and grabs the device by clocking the situation (by knowing his father well enough to predict his actions - something he does with each family member multiple times in the series) and making a move on his own.

It works out perfectly fine, and is ultimately the best move, and it’s honestly okay that he didn’t consult everyone for something so small when it’s such a non issue to get it, but it nicely sets up how this tends to go in the series, including how it goes in the movie.

To be honest episode one is actually really good at setting up a lot of things for each character in the long run, this is just one example that caught my attention, as small and unassuming as it is.

it's a pet peeve of mine when ppl frame Andrew as hating Aaron and being needlessly cruel to him... bc while yes, their relationship is fractured and strained, Andrew genuinely cares about his brother and wants the best for him, he just doesn't know how to show that in a normal way.

like he might not know how to express it in a healthy manner but Andrew LOVES Aaron, like he truly just wants Aaron to be healthy and safe. It's like, his whole Thing. Aaron is one of the most important people in his life. Andrew wants him around. He'd do anything to protect him.

I guarantee Andrew wants to be emotionally close to Aaron too, he just doesn't have the tools to do that and the thought of letting someone in terrifies him. He also has no concept of what a healthy sibling relationship looks like, so he has no frame of reference to work from.
