ok after seeing gifs and having the time to think about the episode itself some more, i have some thoughts. about how poorly it was done, abrupt, and like a slap in the face, etc. i still hate the notes of biphobia in it but also i can Forgive the biphobia if they also take the time to address the biphobia, yknow?

pls keep in mind that this is partly my interpretation, partly my fix-it/make-it-make-sense, partly my criticism. also im not a writer, im a bitch w brain damage to the communication part of their brain who refuses to shut the fuck up lmao this shit is hard for me to write out

so its the 6 month anniversary date and tommy is all in, hes exactly what we were shown him to be: fucking smitten. he gives his boyfriend an (i assume expensive gift?) (idk bball ticket prices) anniversary gift. buck doesnt have a gift for him, but like thats not the end of the world, right? its only 6 months, after all. but this moment should be the beginning of tommys insecurities. the ending of the honeymoon stage. a teeny tiny niggle of maybe buck isnt as invested in this relationship as tommy thought?

maybe thats just a fleeting insecurity that is immediately fueled by the hot chick. again, hate to lean into the biphobic stereotypes. as a bisexual, fucking hate it. buck unconsciously going to use his phone to take the picture and hot chicks "trying to get my number" comment. the way buck doesnt just say "actually im here with my boyfriend" (and buck doesnt have to say it, he can come out to who he wants to, when he wants to, when hes comfortable to. im firm on this but i can also acknowledge that it can also feed into tommys insecurities) this shouldve been when tommys insecurities start coming in and they shouldve shown it. show us the way tommy might use his cool confidence as a mask to hide his vulnerability!!

instead of bringing up abby now, let tommy sit on this feeling. hell, show us that hes feeling this way and hates it. we know hes all for clear communication, and has come a long way with himself. hes confident and comfortable. so show us him struggling with feeling insecure about buck possibly not being as invested as he is. eg with the one sided-gifting, tommy always showing up for buck and we havent been shown buck reciprocating (which means fuck-all with this show but could be used rn to further the angst), the reminder buck is new to dating men etc

they couldve shown us tommy talking to hen or chim about feeling insecure about bucks baby bi status and "being his first but not his last" and hating that he feels that way. that hes doubting buck like this. they gave us this man who worked hard to be where he is, why couldnt they take one fucking scene to show this to us?? its pretty common, actually, for a LI to talk to one of the 118 without the LIs partner being there. but not this LI? ok.

and bcos of how shitty tommy feels about it all, that is why he, uncharacteristically, does not talk about it with buck. tommy is still processing this internally and isnt comfortable bringing it up to buck. but we know buck, hes good at picking up on when something is wrong. maybe he asks and tommy brushes it off. maybe buck says nothing yet and just feels a little, wrong-footed maybe? a little insecure himself? something he has been working on in himself for a long time now and doesnt want to put on tommy.

and that leads to the abby of it all. for the bare minimum of fucking continuities sake, they were never engaged lmao just together a long time during a difficult time for both of them (tommy closeted and abby w her mothers decline) maybe they were talking marriage. i wanted this to come up in another scene (maybe even another ep). i think it makes more sense, for buck to straight up say in this conversation that yeah, he is The Himbo.

tbh, play into the absurdity of it all, classic 911 style. like, this convo happens when one is heading to work or something?? so the only time they have is to think "huh, what are the odds??" and awkwardly laugh about it. set it up that they dont have the chance to really think about the implications until later, when theyre apart.

later comes. and now, they are both spiralling. theyre both feeling insecure in their relationship, for different- and unknown to the other!!- reasons. this is when miscommunication takes over and both parties are hurt and confused and brings them to the point of being unable to have that mature, adult conversation about their issues

buck still goes to maddie, and josh still gives his lovely speech. now bucks feeling better about tommys past (also when maddie makes her "turned them gay" comment buck corrects her and fucking says hes bisexual) wouldve been great to see tommy talk to someone too, about him and abby and abby and buck. also fill in some of them plot holes while they are at it lmao

tommy talking to bobby, preferably. bcos he wasnt Captain Dad when tommy was there, they were never close. and they mention how tommy only referred to abby as "his gf" and she never had the time or interest to meet the 118 or visit the station idk and tommy didnt push for it either. give their relationship some nuance and clarity i guess!! and back up joshs great speech with some of how tommy felt back in those days! really take the time to fill all of this out, yknow?? and maybe talking with bobby about their shared past helps tommy feel a bit more secure with buck right now and ready to talk about it with him.

and now we get to the break up. now that these cracks are shown and seemingly repaired. they both try to talk about their insecurities, but it just goes wrong. buck spooks tommy with the moving in and marriage talk, tommy hurts buck with the "im ur first not ur last."

except this time tommy isnt saying it like a its a fact, instead he says that he fears that hes bucks first but not last. but buck takes that badly (understandable), like tommy hasnt been as invested in this relationship since he apparently has been waiting to break up for 6 months? and if so then why act like he was all in? etcetc

and tommy, yeah tommy has some shit to work thru still, but its also the way buck is talking of moving in and marriage and forever, his impulsiveness has tommy questioning again if they are really on the same page here. i can see tommy getting stuck on the "move in with me" bcos why would tommy leave his larger home to move into bucks loft? has buck even thought about this at all? hell, while they discuss abby, u could have buck, in an attempt to reconnect and reassure his trust in tommy, talk about mistakes hes made with exes (obvi example, what happened with taylor). and instead of reassuring tommy, it does the opposite (tbh im not a big fan of that, bringing up bucks past mistakes. but also it kinda does balance out tommys treatment of abby and continue bucktommys tit-for-tat sharing, yknow? except this time it goes wrong)

basically, theyre both trying to communicate and work thru these insecurities, these fucking hurdles, but theyre both too hurt and scared in this moment and we are watching them both try to make sense of it all and work it out, and we know they both want to but in this moment they just, cant. emotions are high and it gets a little mean (from both sides! not just tommy saying "i was never ur last", let buck do more than just be broken up with), the break up happens, tommy leaves.

(and then they cry and pine and get angry and try to move on and they cant and then somethings brings them back together (CTH!! 🚁💥🏥) and now they are in a better place to communicate and work thru these issues and kiss and make up and maybe at some point during all this theres a discussion or two about biphobia)

thanks fer reading this fukcing novel lmao i just feel that, if they had taken the fucking time to let this storyline fucking breath (god, let any of them breath this season, fuck) and put some fucking effort into it, i would not be so upset. maybe they had intended to portray some of this in that episode, if so they did it fucking terribly

like 911 has always had goofy moments but they were at least grounded in reality? like streetfighting is actually a real thing. hell i actually know a few people who were struck by lightning and one of them survived and fully recovered! seeing a resemblance to someone you know in a stranger isnt far fetched to me but everything beyond the initial recognition and the actual meeting is just dumb

yeah like obviously lone star is crazy this show is crazy whatever but i think it’s the fact that the goofiness led into unparalleled misery i just know they’re never going to touch that kills it for me.

because i’m still stuck on this like … imagine if they had met kim on a call, so EVERYONE was there and could be like wtf eddie she looks like shannon, eddie even goes back to talk to her once but in that meeting realizes she’s nothing like shannon (maybe he even calls her shannon like a dosed callback to bobby calling taylor brook lol and she’s like uhhhhh), but now he’s triggered and having flashbacks/nightmares about life with shannon, he dumps marisol out of the blue and maybe she says something that makes him Think/indicates him being stuck on shannon, goes insane at the bachelor party probably, he tells buck about it later and buck, thinking back to s5 and even ep 1, is like eddie when was the last time you talked to someone? and eddie’s like i thought i was fine i really did. eddie’s not sleeping and maybe isn’t in a good place and he and chris get into a big fight about because of it (about shannon perhaps!) and he’s like ok i need to take care of this. ends up in some kind of bereavement counseling group where he meets amir and they get to talking because eddie connects with the stuff amir says. this is how amir meets bobby again and we get the eddie-bobby-amir lost in the desert plot (bc amir and eddie go to volunteer together) (minus the cartel) where eddie’s hallucinating shannon etc. and bobby and amir are reckoning with the apartment fire and so on. the finale would be About bobby (who perhaps had a heart attack due to idk dehydration and such) and amir. chris still hasn’t totally forgiven eddie by the end and he’s going away for the summer but he will be back he just needs some space. bobby’s still in a coma going into s8. no athena abuse of power, no cartel, no gerrard, no cruel eddie plot, no lazy cheating, no retraumatizing amir over and over. etc. but tim can have all kinds of shit w devin kelley 🤷🏾‍♀️

So I’ve been thinking…. It seems pretty apparent at this point that LFJ has not been updated to main character status as his fan cult insisted he would. I know that it’s early in filming and he will most likely be around at some point, but certainly not as much as they wanted.

To me, and I think many people in the fandom the writing for Buddie is on the wall. I don’t think journalists would be bringing it up, all the promotions would be involving Ryan, etc if it wasn’t that. There’s a lot of proof around already, showing us and reminding us that last season was setting up Buddie. But I don’t have to tell you that. I know you see it, too.

All that being said, when LFJ is inevitably either not on screen at all, or around for very few scenes and then dumped like the trash that he is, his fans are most likely going to revolt. I mean. They’re already kinda scary and way over the top. With him officially gone, I wonder what they’ll do…. So, do you think he should speak up and address his fans? Address what he did to cause all of this pandemonium? Or will he simply ignore it and move on? Because I worry if he isnt careful that these people will continue to follow his career and wreak havoc wherever he goes, which is just making him look bad. What do you think?

That's a really good question Nonny.

First, it's obvious to anyone with eyes that Lou was never going to get the main character status. This was something that only the radical BT stans believed anyway. 911 already has a lot of main characters and they often have trouble fitting all of their storylines in a single season. They aren't going to add any more main characters.

And even if they would, it certainly wouldn't be Lou. It would be Tracie or Anirudh. They have been on the show longer, have a bigger audience that loves them and they are very popular. The audience only got to see about 20 minutes of Tommy in season 7 alone. That's not very memorable. And yes, I know there was some Tommy in season 2 as well, but let's face it... no one remembered him. I know I didn't. I had to look him up.

I definitely see the Buddie-writing on the wall. It's all there. It started in season 2, but they ramped it up in season 7. The promo was crazy. And once again, they have started it up again. It's very focused on Ryan and Eddie right now, because his story will be the most important in order for Buddie to happen. Buck is already out of the closet. Everyone is just waiting for Eddie now.

I do think we have to brace ourselves for another few Tommy appearances in season 8. This story is too important to be messed up by one single guest actor. He will be there because that's what the story requires. Whether we like it or not, Tommy is a part of the Buddie storyline. He is the guy (read: plot device) that helped Buck out of the closet. Tommy has to play his part in order for Buck to get closer to seeing Eddie as a romantic option.

Do I want to see Tommy back? No, definitely not. Because yes, it will cause problems in the fandom. As soon as it becomes clear that Buck and Tommy aren't going to last very long, there will be those who will start yelling, shouting and generally start being obnoxious.

As for Lou speaking up? No, I don't think he'll even address them anymore. It's obvious that someone has talked some sense into him. It could be a joint effort by Tim, the show, his management, his friends, even the other show he frequently comes back to: SWAT. Whoever it was, they made sure he realised that a cult-like fanbase like that is not a good thing for his career.

So no, I don't think he will speak up. He'll continue to bury his head in the sand in the hopes this will all blow over and the hardcore Lou/Tommy stans will give up and move on. And really, I don't think there's anything else he can do at this point. Whatever he will say, will be misinterpreted and used against either him or other people, in this case: the cast of 911 and the more sane and normal BT and Buddie fans.

The only thing I think he should do, is publicly apologise for those very racist and bigotted instagram posts he made. Because it would only be right to do so and those posts really are a stain on his resume right now. It's all out there on the internet to find. But again, I don't think he will do any such thing.

And yeah, you're right. These radical fans might just follow him to whatever project is next. But ultimately, he is the one who created this problem in the first place, so maybe he should just reap what he sowed.

This fandom’s ability to look at chris s2 and chris s7 parallel gifsets and say “wow hes so grown up when did he get so old!!” And yet still treat him like hes 8 years old never fails to take me out (and I feel like theres a definite reason why…). Also they literally addressed chris’s attachment worries / fear of losing people in 4x08 when hes supposed to be 10ish and since then he never expressed anger/sadness at eddie breaking up with ana or dating other people, or when certain people are in his life a bit less than before (carla as she probably isnt needed as much now that chris is older, or buck in 5b when him and eddie probably weren’t hanging out as much). But the only thing people remember from that episode is chris throwing the salad bowl on the ground and running to buck 🙄 his mischaracterization might actually be worse than eddie, and the fandom’s tendency to treat him like denny in terms of character complexity despite the fact that he has way more character development is sad (also begging 911 to give denny a plot that doesnt boil down to “boys need father figures”)

i started watch 911 in like february? idk but its been two months since then and i have opinions. first, i love tommy. forever i will love tommy hes amazing. second even tho i did start watching it bc i like gay coded tv shows (read: hawaii five-o, spn, etc) and buddie was the only thing i saw from tumblr before watching the show, its just not it for me. i felt their chemistry in the series yes, but it felt very platonic to me. like soulmates yes but platonic soulmates. the whatta man song was hilarious tho. babytrapping buck was hilarious but at least he likes kids.

anyways now that tommy is here i can feel their chemistry. its written to have chemistry. theyre supposed to be together. every other ship besides henren was basically accidental. and now that tim is actually putting thought into how two characters will fit together, i am excited! i want to see buck feel safe and i want to see someone date him with all the crush-like advances involved. flowers, dinner and a movie, sweet kisses that dont lead to anything more. hand-holding during outings or family get togethers. i want to see it all

what i dont want to see is a cheating arc bc fans want a gay eddie with a big feelings realisation. he can be gay sure but that doesnt mean he has to be. if tim decides eddie is straight then his "comphet" behaviour can simply be catholic guilt and trauma and him not being ready for relationships simply bc he isnt ready. he hasnt worked through his trauma. he tried but they were all dead so he literally couldnt. and then they dont show him taking other steps after that to work through other traumas. he hasnt talked to buck about being shot or anyone really abt shannon dying. nothing! he stopped trying after finding out his army buddies all died. and he has had some conversations with chris abt shannon. but it doesnt feel like the situation is resolved or that hes come to peace with it.

cheating would not help in any way shape or form. not for buck since we've seen what one kiss would do to a relationship. not tommy bc buck has tried showing him hes ready for smth with him and cheating would just break that trust. not eddie bc again hed be rushing into things and then it would all come crashing down like always! and it would tear the 118 up if they found out. chris would be devastated. buck would be confused all over again and the fans who do like tommy would have their heart broken for him.

buck will not cheat on tommy for eddie to have his character arc pushed forward. eddie's character will grow in his own time at his own pace with guiding hands from bobby and ?the ghost of shannon? and who knows maybe marisol will stick around. maybe not. personally i like her as a character but not as eddies gf. but then my next question is why does eddie need a gf or partner in the first place? he has chris and i believe hes said before thats all he needs.

and for the love of all things good stop with the fucking fanwars. we've been over this. ship who you ship and walk away from what you dont like. dont leave hate mail bc someone has a different opinion than you. grow up, touch some grass, and drink some water

i just watched ghostbusters for the first time before watching this ep. they were smart they make Money when they're saving people and people believe there are ghost. i wish people believed monsterrs in this universe and hunters could earn Money while saving people. and they wouldnt get any trouble while lying. they wouldnt even need to lie. but still theyre saving people while living miserable lives.

i love gen x dean. he knows his movies shows and music the rest dosnt matter. he gave up but im sure theyll find something, but idk if its a cure.

The hoodie suits Dean so good. first faith then now. It looks good no matter what he wears, but a hoodie is different. i hate metatron. he ran, again. where's the backup phone dean? yes Charlie and cas are bff's now. i thought sam would ask crowley. rowena is not good.

it was nice to see benny well he wasnt benny but still it was nice. i hope sam wont kill crowley. dean really loves purgatory i think this is because he is a hunter and thats all he knows and he enjoys being a hunter.

Can't Cas use his powers to find claire? when i started watching spn i was seeing spoilers. ı learnt cas was coming before s3. and i thought he would travel sam and dean everywhere. but he is not. we are seeing him do little. i wish we could see him more in the future.

normally i wouldnt support sam because he is lying to dean but there is no other way yet at least. so go sam save dean. is charlie dead? she cant be. she is not dead cas could save her right? We saw very little of her. I want to spend more time with her.

she is dead! she cant be dead. i cant blame sam. He was the one who involved Charlie but charlie idk i just cant blame sam. Couldn't Cas have saved Charlie? no i cant accept charlie's death. i wont. I thought we would spend more time with Charlie. i kill gods. he is not wrong. im glad crowley is alive but he changed. i wish he would stay the way he was. dean lost control again but they were monsters so its okay i guess. Charlie cant be dead. That's all I could think about during the entire episode. dean killed the kid. I thought he would come to his senses while talking to the kid. Dean isn't completely gone, he can be saved. Charlie cant be dead. why didnt cas save her. when she died gadreel brought her back. Why didn't they bring her back this time?

Dean didn't want Rudy to die either, this is the Dean we know, but his attitude when pushing him away must have been mark's influence. my dean wouldnt let rudy die. he would talk and save rudy. i need my old dean back. crowley loves dean. "i think i just killed death"why dean? he usually tries to help you. why did you kill him? dean confuses me. rowena really doesnt love crowley. Dean agreed. Both the world and Dean would have been saved, but now they have to save the world from what they themselves caused. dean why? i was okay, dean was okay sam and even death was okay with the plan and then dean just killed death, why? i know he loves his brother he would never kill him but he summoned death he asked him favor and then just killed him. World is a mess, rowena escaped, crowley and cas are not okay, sam and dean who knows what happened and Charlie is still dead. i cant wait what will happen in next season.

The lore starts as a hotel shutting down after a serial killer takes over & goes on a massacre, theres a time limit of 2 hours, when the time is over the game is done & a dude with a really bad voice effect says "the killer has got you" Before the doors open

When theres only a few minutes left, a buzzing sound effect plays

Theres a lot of "fake" spiderwebs with cryptid texts too so enjoy that

honestly considering how last episode went i feel like it could be possible that one of the two of them realize their feelings in the finale and that becomes a major storyline for next season. like all season buck has been talking nonstop about eddie and his entire sexuality arc and the buck x tommy stuff has been basically haunted by eddie. i thought i was losing it or something fr because i went back and rewatched and literally EVERY. SCENE. BUCK AND TOMMY HAVE EDDIE IS EITHER THERE OR MENTIONED. not to hijack, but as a non-american whose degree was literally american studies, i can put some words to this if anyone wants to investigate more into it from an academia point of view (or alternatively, just having some good words to learn). this is just going to be a surface level explanation, theres a lot of missing nuance and detail. if i am completely wrong, please do correct me but if its just nuance please leave me be. none of this is meant in a derogatory fashion, just an academic european point of view.

if you want to skip my explaining here are the main terms: tl;dr - hegemony (through culture), soft power, (us defaultism), american exceptionalism.

im actually going to put my conclusion at the top, and put the rest under a cut because this got quite wordy. summary/conclusion - this is not something that can be solved with individual action, this is something that has been going on since at least the 1800s, externally, and long before that internally. american dominance online is an example of soft power that’s often under-noticed in the dominance of other ways it manifests. it’s hard to ignore american content when almost everything you see is american centred. i don’t know how it is for canada - i imagine it's much more dominant due to geography - but so many books, films, tv shows that are written in english are american. there isn’t a way to simply never interact with anything american again, our news media will still show stories from america. the soft power is all encompassing & has been for decades as a key part of american foreign policy. it is also worth noting (in passing) that america is a global superpower, their actions (not just culturally/news/etc but physically (economically/military etc)) directly impact many non-american countries in ways it is not possible to ignore. for example - the US has at least 600 military bases overseas, you are literally all over the world.

americans: as teaboot asks, how much time do you take to look at other cultures? at the news from other countries? is it something that might make you more of a global citizen to do so, if that’s something you want to be? perhaps you might want to learn some history about other countries that was overlooked in your education. so many countries have such a rich history and you haven’t been taught anything. its a shame.

so the first, and actually one i saw someone mentioning in the tags, is this idea of hegemony through culture. hegemony is, very basically, having control over a country (culturally/politically) without having control over territory. it’s often conflated with empires (and specifically imperialism) but its important to be clear hegemony does not automatically mean empire, as its more 'consensual' than empires tend to be. hegemony by culture is done by exporting key cultural influences - shop chains (e.g. starbucks), films, tv shows, books, video games etc.

soft power is very connected to the previous, and is the concept of co-opting rather than coercing a country, with the imported culture being seen as more desirable than the original one. probably the most relevant term to this post. the ‘top’ country imports its own ideals and morals through media, through culture. rather than legislating out a country’s culture (as the brits did in, eg, india), this is much more insidious. they work to make the ‘lower’ country’s culture unpalatable, because ‘oh look isnt ours so much nicer’. the results of this are what teaboot was talking about in the post, as well as so many others in the tags. defaulting to 911 rather than your country’s emergency number, knowing about the american political system (the idea is the ‘top’ country wants to import their version democracy as well), american stores & products being everywhere (think of starbucks, coca cola etc). it’s also, i think, worth noting that many countries redirect you to their emergency services if you call 911. this is something that has safeties built in for americanisation. (n.b. this isn’t, on its own, ‘proof’ - 112 in the UK also gets you through because thats the european number & there is an expectation for european travellers not knowing about 999). i am reasonably confident (though willing to be wrong) that if you were to dial 999 in the us, you wouldn’t get connected (info from 2014). you can, in the UK at least, get american tv channels on your tv. i can watch american documentaries, about american history or culture, any time i want.

this is a side pass into one which isn’t necessarily an academic term, which is ‘us defaultism’. this is the concept where americans assume everyone else is american, or knows as much about america as they do. it’s also built into the internet, especially google. some examples are - when asked where someone is from, they answer ‘[state]’. this isn’t actually particularly meaningful to most non- americans, while a lot of people will have heard of california & new york, they won’t know where ‘montana’ is. in contrast, a european answering ‘oh im from nantes’ is going to leave an american just as stumped - but they don’t do that, unless you ask specifically, they’ll offer ‘france’. when you search for ‘weather in georgia’ from europe (allegedly also from within georgia!) your top result is for the state, not the country - which is closer & more relevant for a european! if i search for ‘supreme court��� (as the uk has one too), all of my news results (which appear before any search results) are about the US court.

another term which ties in is american exceptionalism. it is this belief that america inhabits a special place in the world, that it is unique and its methods are always good & right. this belief is an undercurrent in all US foreign policy moves since its origin as a country. the idea of america as a ‘global policeman’ from the 1800s, as well as american attempts to ‘spread democracy’ through countries with different systems, even if it requires force, because (american) democracy is the ‘right’ political system. the united states is seen by US politicians as destined to be a world leader, because its policies are unique & exceptional, they are obviously the best way of doing things so everyone else should do it 'our' way. it’s also present in the soft power used, the cultural power. this is why americans arent told information about other countries, because why would they need to know? america is the best, they’re not going to find anywhere better! (this is slightly… jokey). its (likely!) why most americans wont have the same level of access to films from non-american countries, you’d have to search them out intentionally. because american films are made in america with america values (propaganda) so why would we show all the non-american films? it's why when americans study history, they don’t study the british civil war, but only the american civil war. there is no need to know about other country’s history, because american is more important. (n.b. this is all very simplified, there is a lot of other reasoning that holds weight i am skipping over for brevity.)

We know American current events, we know American scandals, we know about American cops and American movies and American accents and American fast food chains. I'm Canadian. I've heard all about 'building the wall' and ICE and Jan 6th, the intentional government distribution of narcotics in Black communities and the use of Marijuana Illegalization to persecute Black and Mexican people under the Nixon administration.

Even though I knew Tanya’s ending, a part of me while she was running in the woods was hoping her big sister was gonna save her, I was actually crying when she jumped out that window saying “baby just stay in bed.” When jr first offered her a beer I was like no. No, no. No, don’t take that, when she got in his car I was like, no baby, don’t, just keep going. Like I knew her ending but a part of me was like stop this.

Also I don't know about you but somehow the worst part of it for me was seeing that bag being tossed into the truck, and knowing that her little body was inside. They wrote this character so well and in such a short amount of time we genuinely grew to love her, and it hurt so much to see even her body treated with such disrespect.

Hiii!!! You prob talked about this before but im New to the fandom and ive seen a lot of people (almost all of them on twitter) that are convinced buddie isnt happening because of kristen. Why do you think they are so convinced this is the reason?

they're deluded and misogynistic, and they've convinced themselves that kristen has some sort of secret vendetta against buddie shippers and that every move she makes is done to spite them specifically. every single thing they don't like about the show automatically becomes her fault alone, but they act like the things they do like were snuck in by the writers behind her back or something. they completely ignore the fact that some of the most important development for buck and eddie happened during her tenure as showrunner. they call her homophobic, as though the level of attention and screentime given to henren didn't increase astronomically once she became the official showrunner. (you think tim minear would have given us such a beautiful henren begins episode? just look at the state that LS is in.) she once said that she views buck and eddie as platonic, but we should know by now that we can't really take anything that's said in interviews as confirmation. the showrunners and actors have been known to straight-up lie and say misleading things...which is good! they shouldn't give away important plot points just because they're trying to please a small portion of their audience!

god knows i have my problems with season 6. but i don't think it's bad or even mediocre in its entirety and i'm definitely not gonna rail against kristen for it. people like to say that the viewership ratings went down because of her which is completely false because: a) it's very natural for a show to lose viewership the longer it goes on b) in the era of streaming especially, it's extremely admirable that 911 has managed to average over 4 million viewers. that is a huge deal, and there aren't many live scripted shows that are able to match this! there's a reason ABC snatched up 911 despite it being such an expensive show—the people in the industry are smart, and they wouldn't waste their time on something that was failing.

anyway, you did not ask for all of this, but it just makes me. so annoyed. lol. tldr: if you see anyone on twitter or elsewhere ranting about kristen and how evil she is, just know that they don't know what they're talking about and ignore them.

This isnt anti Chim I promise. I love the guy and all but it was funny to see how different Chim and Buck handled Maddie and Eddie in turmoil. I get they were different situations and times, but also like were they really? It did annoy me Chim let her isolate herself and didn't push her or get others to go visit.

What I love is Buck didn't let Eddie isolate himself. He called in reinforcements like Bobby (and we can guess the whole crew as back ups). He surrounded him with light and literal hearts. It goes to show what a natural cargiver he is. I love that for the Buckley Diaz family.

I know Madney will end up back together and they love each other. But I also think they can truly coparent with eachother and being functioning adults. But Buddie isnt even canon and there is just this strong sense that no, they can't do life with out the other and we have at least 2 occasions when one implodes with out the other one.

Oh, I love Chim, I love Madney, but I also see what you mean. I think it’s because, well... Madney is basically the first and only proper r/s we’ve seen Chim in (the only other one was with Tatiana in s1 which was... no), so I don’t think he really had an idea of how to help Maddie and push her in the right direction. But since their reunion in 512, I think he’s shown that he is capable of that, of communicating and being the right kind of supportive while also not letting things slide as I mentioned in the 514 meta. And maybe they needed the time apart and the breakup for him to be able to get there (I suspect what was in his way was mostly his own fear of losing her if he insists too much).

So yes, there’s a big difference! I think deep down, even as Buck suffers because he lost Eddie as a partner in the field, he knows he’s not losing him in any of the personal ways that matter, he’s not going to lose their friendship or his own place as a co-parent to Chris, and I feel like between that and everything they had been through along the seasons allows Buck enough familiarity and confidence to know how to gently push Eddie, giving him the help and the social support and the nudging he needs without fearing it might be too much and that it would push Eddie away. Interestingly, it’s not a given, if you look at Eddie when the shooting is first brought up at the horse ranch, he doesn’t wanna talk about it. But this is Buck, so Eddie turns his face away, but he doesn’t leave, and he doesn’t cut him off and shut him down, Eddie listens and, I think to his surprise as well, he comes to see Buck’s point. IDK, if there are two people more perfect for each other as partners, I’ve never seen them.
