This is getting reblogged again so I just want to say that I said lobotomies were popular in the 50s, but I want to clarify that they weren’t just a thing in the 1950s. They were invented in 1935 by Moniz and Lima, and gained popularity throughout the 1940s. Rosemary Kennedy was lobotomized in 1941, though she was an earlier patient. The transorbital (icepick) lobotomy was invented in 1946 by Walter Freeman. Freeman preformed icepick 3,439 lobotomies in his life, and literally went on tour preforming them. He defended them and their use even long after they fell out of fashion in the late 1950s/early 60s. They stopped being popular (though there were always activists against them, btw. This wasn’t something everyone was on board with.) after the invention of some effective antipsychotics like lithium and once chlorpromazine gained popularity in the US.

All this is about America, btw. The Soviet Union banned lobotomies in 1950 so America was way behind. We had national lobotomy tours while they were already banned in most of Europe. USA #1 🇺🇸

Okay hi welcome to brain facts. So the fascinating thing about human brains is that the basic stuff is in the brain stem and towards the back of the brain, so things like breathing, digestion, and other stuff you do without thinking about it are all back there. The more complex stuff is in the front. Your frontal lobe in particular controls your speech (in an area called Broca’s area I think), motor function and personality. Less severe damage can result in lack of social awareness or increased impulsivity. But we aren’t talking about “less severe” damage so let’s get to the good stuff.

In the 1840s sometime, a man named Phineas Gage had a giant ass metal pole blown (with some sort of explosive gunpowder) through his head (entering under his cheek and exiting the top of his head) and survived. I don’t really think I can do justice how insane this is, but google it if you want to see a photo of a guy holding a rod that went through his head and a couple recreations of it. Gage was alive after this, and was mostly fine except for he had severe personality changes and intense epileptic seizures. What I’m getting at with this is that because the rod shot through his frontal lobe (FNaF reference) he was fine and actually survived about 13 years (just with the personality of an asshole) before he died of a seizure.

A lobotomy was an extremely popular practice in the 1950s that was intended to cure mental illness. Of course nobody knew what was going on back then so really sometimes they were just “curing” like hysteria or melancholy or whatever. The procedure, in its most popular form, involved sticking an ice pick up through a patient’s eye socket and just scrambling their brains (The frontal lobe) with it (extremely simplified). This often resulted in severe damage to their motor and speech skills, their personality, their thinking, etc. But it did make most people easier to deal with, so that’s good I guess. Arguably the most famous lobotomy patient (victim) is Rosemary Kennedy, JFK’s sister.

Okay, this is a FNaF account actually. So I’d like to call attention to a couple things Phone Guy says in reference to the Bite of ‘87. He says that Jeremy survived “without a frontal lobe” which is completely wild but like…probably possible? However it would lead to like total paralysis and complete inability to form coherent thoughts. And while in The Week Before, Ralph does say something about him “not talking anymore. Or doing much else.” And everyone does act like it’s a completely wild thing that he survived (which it is) but I feel like we should probably chalk “without” up to hyperbole, though you don’t have to if you don’t want to.

But even with it still like…partially intact some symptoms of severe injury to that big chunk of your brain are: short-term memory loss, loss of motor (both gross and fine) and speech skills, completely disorganized behavior and thinking, intense personality changes, creating false memories (confabulation, which sounds like a word I made up but it’s not) and probably the wildest one called anosogonia, which is where you just don’t realize that something is wrong with you (or the extent of it)

All this to say: nothing, really. I just really wanted to talk about this.

Isagi could only huff out as he tucked his phone back into his pockets. He should’ve expected this honestly, considering he’s known the man for years now.

It’s been quite some time since Bachira’s been hooked up to the machine. Regarding his mom honestly I think people, whether they know it or not, have a largely misogynistic view of her.

By all accounts she has a strong personality, is very unapologetically vocal about things that concern her, and won’t people walk all over her or her son. If she was the meek or quiet type, people wouldn’t be saying half the things they say about her.

As for the rumors of her being controlling I believe it’s slightly true, especially when it comes to money, and honestly with a son like him I think it’s ok to be a little overbearing bc at the end of the day he grew up in a crazy world full of overindulgence and excess.

Some tidbits about her and his dad and how they raised him:

- Once when he was little, he witnessed someone getting bullied in school and stayed silent. When his mom heard she made him wear clown shoes to school the next day as punishment for not doing the right thing and standing up for the person getting bullied.

- His parents were tough on him when it comes to education, they didn’t want him to neglect it for football. When Kylian said he wanted to drop out of school and focus on football full time his Dad got super pissed lol. His mom has said that she wanted to him to go to HEC Paris and become a businessman, not a footballer. When he started going to Clairefontaine (French football academy), they made sure he did well in classes there and even got him to do extra lessons with his aunt and uncle who were teachers.

- As I said, they were controlling when it comes to money. At Monaco, when he was earning 80k per week they gave him a weekly allowance of €200 😭 Kylian himself said he’s grateful they did that and he has a healthy relationship with money thanks to them. In Paris, He was talking to an influencer girl asking to meet up at a hotel and she said she’d only do it if he got her a Chanel bag, Kylian said “No, sorry. I can’t buy you a bag” lol. Also at a charity auction, his bid won and when the time came to pay he had to awkwardly wait for his dad to come and pay. Also in 2021, his mom said in an interview he only recently learned how to use a debit card. So clearly this control over his money didn’t stop when he became an adult, I hope it’s stopped now bc it’s a little embarrassing to be a 26 YO and not have control over your own money lol.

- She said she’s made sure to raise her sons to be feminists. She’s also talked about how it was a deliberate choice to make his team of lawyers women, and that it was her idea at first and when she told Kylian he agreed. (This reminds of me Jalen Hurts and his all-women team)

- Some other cute/interesting things his mom has said: He sleeps so much in his free time his family calls him ‘the Koala’ lol. Sometimes he puts on disguises and walks around outside freely without a bodyguard. She used to make him do the dishes after he won the World Cup, and when he was a kid after he came back from the Madrid trip Zidane took him on she made him clean her classrooms to ‘bring him back down to earth’.

Other family tea: His big bro Jires was a w-h-o-r-e who cheated on Melissa a lot. Now they’ve broken up and he lives in the US with his other family. (Yes he has a whole other wife and kids ppl are not aware of, Kylian has a whole other set of nieces and nephews lol). That’s why we don’t see him as much anymore. I think it’s nice that Kylian and the family is so close to Melissa, bc when people divorce in laws usually take the side of the son and disappear out of the woman’s life.

It’s true that he’s very protective towards Ethan. Last year when PSG found out he wouldn’t be renewing they iced Ethan out from the squad, and Kylian got mad and got in an argument with the sporting director over that.He does spoil him too, I’m pretty sure it was Kylian who flew out Ethan’s girlfriend and friends to Dubai for his birthday

You saw the clock hanging from the wall, biting your nails and sighing with despair. The feeling in your gut was giving you bad news, and the voice inside your head was trying to convince you to call him one more time with the fanciful idea of him picking up feeding your need to do it. You felt a hole in your belly where your stomach was supposed to be, and your body seemed to be unable to remain still in one place. 

4 am, and the last time you heard about Aegon was when he left the apartment and told you he would come back before midnight, for tomorrow he had a very important job interview early in the morning. Needless to say, he did not keep his word, and when the clock indicated that it was the middle of the night, you found yourself alone in the darkness of the living room, at the verge of tears produced by the worry and anger. Your cellphone remained quiet, no phone calls from him arrived. That only made you angrier, for he did not even think about letting you know whether he was alright or not; he did not even think how you had a sleepless night filled with pure distress due to the unavoidable concern. You called him at least twenty times during the night, and none of your calls were answered; you had already memorized his voice mail recording by heart. 

When the main door opened, your lost eyes found their way to the frame of it, and the first thing you saw was your boyfriend stumbling inside the living room; a green shirt ripped in the neck, leftovers of red lipstick on his neck, chin and cheeks, and sleepy eyes. You were already used to seeing that aspect on him, though you had naively believed that it would stop. But it never stopped. 

“Hello there, beauty,” he greeted you. He dragged his words as if his tongue was as heavy as a rock, holding his body against the door handle.

You pressed your lips in a thin line, you had the intention to scream at him, to yell at his face how much you hated him for doing this to you once again; but nothing would come out, your words would be stuck in the back of your throat, your mind too blurry with disappointment to even think in what to say; so you just stood up, grabbed your phone and left towards the room without uttering a sound. You heard how Aegon closed the door, and how he dragged his feet behind you as he followed you, but you did not even bother to turn around. 

“Hey, what’s wrong?” He asked, and your heart fell to your stomach as you stopped walking. Once you finally had the courage to turn around to face you looked at him with disdain, as if he was mocking you without shame by asking something so stupidly obvious that it was insulting. 

“It’s 4 am,” you spat, already breathing heavily. “It’s 4 am and you just got home… it’s Tuesday!”

“Oh, Gods, I’m sorry, love…” he muttered, trying to step closer to you but you stepped back, rejecting his touch. “Arryk just got a new job so we went to a bar downtown and celebrated for him.”

“And did you forget that later today you have a job interview?” You reminded him, fuming already with rage burning through your eyes. You were barely able to keep it together, your nose already itching as you saw Aegon widening in surprise by your words. He had forgotten, he always did. “I can’t fucking believe it.”

“Love, listen-” his hand tried to reach for you once again but you slapped it away from you. 

“No, this is enough, I won’t listen to your pathetic excuses anymore,” you shook your head and your eyes became watery once you noticed the marks of lipstick on his skin. “I’m so tired of being the only one trying to keep us afloat.” 

“That’s a lie…” He accused you, narrowing his eyes. 

“Is it?” You chuckled incredulously, “I’m the one paying the bills, working my ass off so you don’t feel pressure to find a stupid job, but all you do is drink and live as if you were still a fucking teenager!” You raised your voice, making him shrink in his position. He took a step back, looking at you teary eyed. That would always be enough for you to soften to him, but not this time. “You’ve told me multiple times how your grandfather would yell at you to do your shit so I tried to be empathic with you and give you time, but I just-” 

A sob interrupted your words, making you choke in your own sorrow as you covered your mouth and quickly looked away from him. You closed your eyes for an instant and you slightly shook your head, feeling your heart being torn apart by the impact of reality against what used to be a fairytale. A shake breath came from your lips as you wiped your tears away and looked back at Aegon, who was standing as if he was a scolded child waiting to receive his punishment.

Those lilac eyes of him made you remember the beginning of your relationship, before you truly figured Aegon out. The first stages of a relationship were always perfect, relaying on the rush of adrenaline and excitement that a new feeling would provide; but now that it’s been four years, all that magic had vanished… sadly, the love and devotion you had for him was still making your heart beat, which is why it was so hard for you to pronounce the following words,

“I can’t allow myself to love you anymore,” you struggled to say, the sobs that threatened to escape you were making you choke and gulp. “Why can’t you get your shit together? Why can’t you grow up and act like a fucking adult?”

“You know it’s hard for me,” he excused himself, but you sighed. 

“And you think it isn’t hard for me too? I stay awake every night you go out, scared to death. I have two jobs so we can keep this fucking apartment so you don’t go back and live with your parents. Because that’s how much I care about you.”

“And I love you for that.”

“Then fucking prove it to me!” You gave an exasperated yell, “Prove me that you love me! Because lately I feel like you’re saying all these things just because you’re used to them.”

“How?” He asked, “what do you want me to do?”

And there it is, the disappointment crossing your face once again. You could speak to him, scream and yell a bunch of words, but he would never listen. He would always disguise his lack of attention with questions like this, even when you had been screaming the answer to it ever since he stepped into the apartment. 

You did not respond to him; you just shook your head as you made your way to your bag. You grabbed your keys, your phone and your wallet. Aegon frowned after looking at that action, and he tried to follow you around but his feet felt so heavy that he only stumbled in his place. 

“Where are you going?” He demanded an answer, “what are you doing?”

Once again, silence was the answer to his question and his eyes filled with tears followed your frame until you stopped in the middle of the door frame of the room. 

“My love…” he whispered, already feeling himself being sobered up by the anguish he started to feel inside his chest. “Please, don’t. Not you too.”

“You’re losing me, Aegon,” you muttered, loud enough for him to see. “Be aware of that.”

Once you closed the door behind your back, Aegon broke into silent sobs and cries. He had underestimated your limits, stupidly believing that you would always be by his side. Now that he found himself alone in a room filled with memories, the only thing he was able to do was to regret.

how do you think angus would be like with someone who’s really anxious (asking for a friend aka me bc of interviews) -⭐️

hi! So, this is such an interesting and cute little question because I feel like angus is definitely the type to make sure you’re doing alright through little acts of service. He’ll always remind you to drink water, setting a glass in front of you if he hasn’t seen you drink any that day. He takes great pride in being the proactive one out of the two, which means he always has a spot he wants to take the two of you out on, and he’ll plan everything to a T to make sure you can take all the time you need to get ready.

Besides the obvious “boyfriendoftheyear” behavior like guiding you towards the inside of the sidewalk as you walk hand in hand towards a movie at your local theatre, or holding the door open for you at your fav bar to watch a cool little local band play a gig, he always makes sure to carry a handkerchief in his jean pocket that he infuses with a few drops of lavender essential oil. He once read in a woman’s weekly it’s supposed to help with nerves and it was meant to be an old housewives trick but it seems to mean a lot to you and anything for his girl of course.

When you guys go out to eat, he takes it upon himself to order for you, per your request. He has a good feel for your taste, and cravings and he’s never ordered a dish you don’t like. He’ll even make sure to call ahead and tell the hostess about any allergies or dietary restrictions you might have. To everyone in his life his attitude since you’ve gotten together is a great departure from the usual nonchalant smart ass they know and occasionally love, but doting and caring looks good on him.

You’ll always feel like he’s got your back and is ready to advocate for you. Whether it’s asking a waiter to top off your drink or to have a dish remade because it wasn’t up to your standards, he’s always ready and willing to keep you as chill as possible. On really really bad days, the ones where you feel like the world is caving in around you and you can’t see the end in sight, after he helps you meet your most basic needs, a warm bath, a small plate with some fruits, some chips, dip and maybe some cheeses, (an act he adopted from his dad do the same for his mom when she was pregnant with him.) He’ll have you pop on your (his) favorite comfy crewneck, pop you on the back of his bike, and pedal down the block and back as the sun sets. The cool air and the rhythm of the pedals going up and down your street littered with gorgeous trees and even more gorgeous gardens soothes your mind in an instant.

Sometimes he’ll whistle a little tune for you, his favorite is the Charlie Brown theme song, sometimes he’ll ask about your day and let you vent or sometimes he won’t say anything at all and let you regulate at your own pace. But always, your nights end with the coziest cuddle with all the lights in your room turned off, only a sliver of a street light peeking through your curtain. He’ll trace his fingers across your features and leave whispers of kisses and sweet nothings behind as the both of you are lulled to sleep……so basically he’s a cutie pie.

- if Paris had’ve been a Trojan from the start his life would’ve turned out so differently. Literally everything about him would be different and maybe he would’ve struggled with his ego a tiny bit bc of how confident he was leaving high school but he probably would’ve made court eventually if he hadn’t started out in the Ravens.

- Rowan cannot talk to reporters or do interviews. He physically can’t be himself or be honest when there’s a camera in his face and he will always feel like a fraud because of how hard he’s trying to be perfect for the press.

- Paris is the first person who realises that something is going on between Lilya and June. He’s having his own romantic struggles at the time and is burning the ear off of Lilya when she tells him to just ignore his feelings if he doesn’t want to feel them and he responds, “What, like you’re doing to June?” because he’d noticed how she gets when she’s around her and she gets SO mad at him because of it that he just knows she’s down bad

- Bran can’t watch horror movies. Rowan loves them.

- Rowan will have a visceral reaction if his hair is touched. His first accidental fight in PSU was because a girl was complimenting his hair and grabbed it because she wanted to feel how soft it was

- Paris blushes really easily

- Lilya struggles to keep emotions off her face. If she reacts to something someone says it’s because she literally can’t stop herself from frowning or giving them a dirty look

- Bran calls people randomly and Rowan gets so annoyed by it. She won’t text and asks if he’s busy. She’ll just call him or FaceTime him randomly and he always answers because he’s anxious and worries something is wrong but usually she’s just bored and wants to talk. She finds it quite hard to just be alone doing nothing/relaxing. He doesn’t really mind it but he feels so bad not answering that he’ll literally be like. In the middle of something Super Important and he’ll answer like “shut up you’re going in my pocket we can talk in five minutes” or “I’m literally peeing give me two minutes and I’ll call you back”

Author’s note: Hello everyone!!! I apologize for the lack of content lately, some rough things have happened to me so I wasn’t doing too well, I am planning on writing more though!! Thank you for your support and patience. I hope you enjoy it!! <3

“Ladies!! We’re going to start soon, in 10 minutes, you should be in your places.” The filming director called for you and Florence.

The both of you were going to be in a buzzfeed interview today about your new movie, you were the director, and she was the leading role, everything was going fine.

“Hehktshoo!”

Well, as “fine” as it could go with your sneezy girlfriend.

Allergy season always hits Florence hard, even taking antihistamines she still finds herself sneezing a lot throughout the day.

“Bless you, did you remember to take your allergy pills?” You asked, glancing over Flo, who was trying to rub at her eyes without messing with her makeup.

“Well…” She started to speak, avoiding your gaze.

“Oh my god Florence, what did you do?”

“See, I was going to take them! But I used the last of it yesterday and forgot to buy more.” She said, trying to defend herself.

“You’re unbelievable sometimes-“

“Hi'tshiew! Hhhxxnt!” She turned away from you to catch two itchy sneezes in her elbow, sighing softly afterwards.

“Bless, my love, are you going to be fine without them?” You said, holding both of her hands.

“I’ll be okay.” She smiled and kissed your cheek.

With that, the both of you got to your places to start the interview.

She was not okay though, Laura, your interviewer was wearing a strong perfume, that was enough to bother you a little, and to send Flo’s allergies crazy. Her already sensitive nose was red and twitching, and she was doing everything in her power to avoid sneezing. But clearly, it wasn’t working.

“hhgxnt! h'tsh! ’nxgt!” She sneezed once more, stifling to avoid making a scene.

“Bless you!” You and the interviewer said in unison.

“I’m so sorry, I don’t know what’s happening to me today.” Florence said, blushing red at her lack of control.

“It’s okay! We’re gonna edit this part, are you sick?” She asked.

“No, it’s just allergies.”

The shooting continued, with a lot of stifled sneezes coming from your girlfriend, which made your worry grow, it was obvious she’d give herself a headache, but you couldn’t just tell her to stop, if you were in her place, you’d probably end up doing the same. You just wanted it to be over soon so you could take Florence home.

Thankfully, it took only about half an hour before the interview ended, and Flo rushed to the bathroom while you gathered your things.

Once you were done, you realized that she hadn’t come back yet, so you made your way to the ladies restroom, knocking lightly on the door before entering.

Florence was hunched over the sink, rubbing furiously at her eyes and nose, her breath hitching as she tried to stave of the need to sneeze.

“Flo, just let it out.” You said, sympathetically.

“Hh- What?”

“Just sneeze darling, this won’t make you feel any better.”

“I don -Hh- need -Hheh- to sne- hHEH’” She said between hitching breaths, stubbornly pressing her wrist over her nose, which made her loose the battle.

“Hhhxxnt! h'tsh! h'ktshi! hhgxnt! h’nxgt! Ow…” She said, wincing at the pressure in her head.

“Stop stifling, you'll hurt yourself." You chided lightly.

“Hhehh-Hikxxt! ’Nkxshh! Heh’kshuu! I’ll never stop sneezing that way, I think Laura’s perfume set me off, it was so strong.” She sniffled thickly, rubbing at her nose.

“Bless you, I think so too baby, and you were already sensitive without your meds, let me take you home, we’re gonna stop at the pharmacy, okay?” You said, getting the car keys from her purse, earning a glance from the sniffly blonde.

“You can’t drive home in your condition.” You said, getting a disposable mask from your pocket and giving it to her, “Here baby, put this on so the pollen doesn’t bother you too much while we walk to the parking lot.”

“Hhah'ktshi! ’tshoo! ’tshhiew!” She wiped her nose with some paper towels from the bathroom and put the mask on, “Thanks, can you take me home now pleeeease?” She whined, making you chuckle.

“Of course darling, let’s go.”

Even though Florence had her mask on, as soon as the light breeze from the parking lot hit the both of you, she was set off again, and you interlocked your arms with hers so she wouldn’t stumble.

“Hhep’tshoo! h'ktshi! hk'kiktShIEw! Hi-HI-HIT'ShiEw!” She sneezed with her elbow pressed tightly over the mask.

“Bless, there’s tissues in the car, my dear.” You said as the both of you approached the car.

As soon as you both entered the car, Florence immediately reached for the small tissue box in the glove compartment.

“Hhah'ktshi! ’tshhiew! ‘hktshoo! Hh’itshoo! ’hktshoo! Ugh, I cant take this anymore.”

“Aww Flo, bless you.” You said, wiping her allergic tears and kissing her cheek. “We’ll get you feeling better in no time.”

She looked at you lovingly “Thank you for taking care of me Y/N, you’re my everything.”

“I’ll always take care of you.”

First off- You turned me into a big time Chappell Roan listener which is great bc I need music recs to fix my listening habits before Spotify wrapped drops. My roundup last year was shameful… Red Wine Supernova is my new dish washing song.

Even tho it’s not the song’s vibe I kept the content as silly as I could for my own sanity. I don’t love getting too deep into the serious/sad side of M+L for a few reasons but I do find it all very interesting. Point being this song was too good to pass up doing something a bit bigger for.

Ngl tho- this did have me pulling out hair at multiple points. I never colour animatics, rarely even tone them- but you mentioned colour palettes and I was determined to deliver so pardon the messy colouring but (that was the tradeoff) I did not have it in me to stay in the lines. I’m choosing to be kind to myself and opt to call it an artistic choice and not midway burnout. And nothing was gonna get me to open after effects/premiere not even the janky ass golf ball OML this only makes sense if u watch the video.

There are parts of this I’m SO happy with and others I hate. I think it’s really obvious which sections I started losing steam on but overall I lowkey like the end product. Nothing I make will ever be good/perfect- this was one hell of a practice in accepting that lmao- but I can still be ok with the work problems and all yknow? I very nearly shelved this completely bc I got so worked up about the maybe 5 panels I dislike out of 106 total. Counting them was eye opening to ask myself: you’re gonna let that small a ratio stop you from sharing this after putting in days and days of effort? The insecurity goes deep and TBH getting asks has been a nice way of working through it since I post the art I make for answers no matter what only bc I KNOW someone out there wants to see it. It might not sound it but it’s actually quite positive.

Also, although I feel I’ve done my fair share of reading, I’m no expert. So if anything is really off point- sorry my bad (I won’t fix it tho bc I cannot physically stand to look at this another second lol)

I tried to stick to real things found in articles/books/photos/interviews etc bc outside of obviously fictional AUs I’m not super into making stuff up about them (and who needs to I mean the legit stuff is already insane enough) Sure I framed the events in specific ways to suit the song and some aspects are fictionalized (mainly bc the referenced written accounts lacked detail to draw 100% faithfully from anyhow) but otherwise I got my sources cited.

ANYWAYS… sorry for hijacking this answer I need to learn to chill out. Irl I’m a pretty reserved talker so you can tell I’m in a comfy place when I let loose and blather on endlessly lmao brevity is not a skill I possess.

You were probably expecting illustrations or smth but I hope what I came up with is still somewhat alright AND please don’t let my complaining fool you, I genuinely loved making this.

One FINAL Relevant Note: the line “nowhere else is safe every place leads back to your place” is gut wrenching. You’re so right about this song perfectly describing the break up. They always came back to each other and there’s something so devastating about that kind of haunting human connection.
