| You're Losing Me. (2)
- I can't find a pulse, my heart won't start anymore.
Tumblr media
[pairing: miguel o'hara x spider-person!reader]
[warnings: sweet to angst, mentions of physical fight, blood, bruises, mention of deaths]
[a/n: this has been a long time coming!! i've tried to write these past few days but never really finished writing this but i was feeling a lil sad tonight so i managed to focus my motivation on writing this! i also went through some theories on reddit and twitter about miguel's canon theory bc i honestly question it?? anyway i hope i did the first 'you're losing me' fic justice with this, since i tried my best writing this. hope y'all enjoy 🫶🏻]
You were smart enough to leave the watch that was issued to every member of the Spider Society at your apartment. Miguel had been tracking your location only to see ‘you’ in your apartment. He blocked you from creating portals and tracking the location of him, Jess, and Ben. It was for your own good, anyway. He was looming over Brooklyn on a rooftop as rain lightly poured over the city. He looks down at his hand, the very same you returned your promise ring he had given you a year prior. Miguel figured that he’d talk to you after he brings in Miles, that he’ll try to make you understand his side. Miles was a kid, he doesn’t know better. He doesn’t understand how astronomical the consequence of letting his father live. With the help of his suit, Miguel is able to store the ring on the right side of his hip. The hunt for Miles had just begun.
-
You on the other hand managed to get to Gwen’s dimension. A somehow colorful yet gloomy version of Brooklyn. With a few taps on your (much better) watch, you located the apartment complex where Gwen lives. The watch even gave you the exact number of their apartment. Brooklyn was glowing in the dark of the night as you swung through the city. It reminded you of your Brooklyn. A beautiful city that never sleeps.
You approached the rooftop of the apartment and gracefully landed on it. After a quick change (which really just consisted of you taking off your mask and slipping on a jacket you managed to grab before you left your apartment), you slowly descended the stairs from the rooftop to their apartment.
A knock on the door pulled Gwen’s and his father’s attention. It was a long time coming, talking about their feelings, the truth, and being Spider-Woman. “Captain Stacy? I’m uh, a friend of Gwen,” The voice called out. Gwen smiled knowingly at her dad as he stared back at her in confusion. “She said she’s coming back home today and she left something in my house.” The voice continued.
Gwen let out a laugh and quickly opened the door before her dad could do it.
“You came.” Gwen beamed at you. You returned a smile and pulled her in a hug.
“You really think I’d leave you by yourself?” You mumbled in her ear.
She hugged you tighter before pulling away. Her dad looked surprised as Gwen seemed to forget she was in her Spider-Woman attire. Gwen looked between you and her father before exclaiming, “Oh, dad! This is my friend! They have been uhm, a really good friend of mine!” Her dad motioned at her attire. Gwen laughed as you waved at her dad. “Don’t worry, dad. They know.”
-
After a quick goodbye, you gave Gwen the watch you had made similar to the ones issued by the Spider Society. After a few dimension hopping, you managed to assemble a team of Spider-People who hoped to help Miles as Gwen looked for the latter. Gwen detected that Miguel, Jess, and Ben were at Earth-1610 to search for Miles but Miles wasn’t in the dimension. After a quick talk with the team (consisting of Margo, Spider-Noir, Peni, Pav, Peter B. and Mayday, Peter Porker, and Hobie) you were quick to realize that Miles was sent to Earth-42. The group agreed that they should rendezvous with Gwen, but were reluctant at your decision to go to Earth-1610 as a distraction for Miguel.
“What do you think Miguel’s going to say after seeing you’re going against him?” Peter B. asks as you both stand before a portal to Earth-1610. The night sky was cold and you were jealous of Peter’s robe. Your eyes softened as you looked at Mayday looking up at you curiously. You booped her nose and it made her giggle.
“Well, I’m about to find out.”
-
It wasn’t hard to find Miguel. Looming across Miles’ house, scanning if Miles made it home. Silently landing behind him, your heart ached as you stared at his back. It doesn’t even feel like it’s your Miguel anymore. It’s almost as if he’s out of your reach, that no matter what you’ll say will go right through him.
Shakily you called out, “You know he’s not here.” You approached him slowly until there was a reasonable distance between the two of you. The rain pattered on your body as you crossed your arms in front of your chest. You were shaking from nervousness, sadness, and the cold rain.
“I know. I was waiting for you.” Miguel turned to face you. His mask came off, his eyes bore into yours and you swear you could feel your heart drop to your stomach. You took your mask off and threw it in front of him. He looked at your discarded mask before looking at you in confusion.
“I’m sorry it had to end this way, Miguel.” Your voice softly said, getting in a fighting stance. You knew you had to help Miles. You would do anything to help if it were anyone in that situation. You owe it to your own father to help save everyone, to help save someone’s father. Growing up without one was one of the hardest things you ever went through. You didn’t want that for anyone else.
“So, you’re ending everything we went through for a kid?” He scoffed as he approached you, You were quick to back up to maintain the distance you guys had.
“Miguel, that is the point! He is just a kid!” You exclaimed. Miguel rolled his eyes and replied, “A kid who knows nothing about the damage he is causing!”
“It was your fault! You didn’t have to create the Spider-Society or replace someone’s identity! Isn’t that the very reason that universe collapsed!?” You yelled, leaning towards him as he looked at you in shock. “That you willingly replaced someone, and continued to do so? That your actions were the very reason that everyone died in that universe?” Miguel could only look at you as his eyes turned scarlet. You knew he was seething with anger.
“And that you, Jess, and Ben, of all people,” You scoffed as you glared at him. “Have the nerve to tell Miles that he doesn’t belong. When the three of you were never bit, right?” You finished. “Oh and your ‘canon theory’ is bullshit. What if that Spider-Person isn’t close to a police captain or doesn’t have an uncle who needs to die? What then?” Honestly, you were shocked at how much you had told him. Truth be told, the things you said were things you kept to yourself for months.
Miguel didn’t know what to say, but he knew you were right. His supposed theory was only based off of most Spider-People, but it doesn’t guarantee that those events happen to every single one. To him, it felt like an attack on him and his ego. That you questioned his every move despite those actions were done to protect you. Because he can’t risk losing you.
-
The next thing you knew, Miguel launched at you. Thankfully, you had your ‘spidey-senses’ and were quick to dodge him. Before you knew Miguel would rather die than hurt you himself. But when he saw your bruised and bloodied body on the rooftop, he finally realized that he let the anger get the best of him.
“You lost me, Miguel.” Those were your final words before you slipped into unconsciousness. He brought you back to the Spider-Society to get you proper medical attention before he had to leave to hunt Miles. Miguel took your left hand and slipped on the promise ring on your ring finger. He gave the back of your hand a kiss.
“I hope you forgive me, mi amor. I’m sorry.”

Your eyes slowly opened. And you were in someone’s bed. The room was cold, and very dull.
On the wall you noticed there was board of photos. family photos, but most of the photos, were photos of you. You, with someone who looked just like Miles.
Through the crack of the door, you could see Miles. Your Miles unconscious, tied to a punching bag.
But then you heard heavy footsteps. And someone came into the room, wearing a sort of suit. It looked like the prowler’s.
”You’re awake.” The voice was distorted.
You looked at the figure, he was shrouded in darkness. He came closer. “Please. Let us go.. we have to save someone.”
The figure shook his head. And his mask came off, with a hissing sound. That’s when you saw his face.
“[name]...” He said, he sounded so gentle. Like your name was a melody to him.
You had fear in your eyes, mixed with confusion. He seemed to take notice of this, because next, he introduced himself.
“I’m Miles Morales. But you can call me the prowler, niña bonita.” he walked into the light, his face becoming more visible. “What? There’s no way. You would never be the prowler!” You looked at him, shocked and confused.
Hues of red and purple shined onto his face. Highlighting his hazel eyes. He looked different from your Miles. He even sounded different.
His hair was braided, and his physique was completely different from the Miles you knew. His face was sharper, and his voice was deeper and he kept a narrow gaze. “You’re Miles, wouldn’t.” He pointed to your Miles through the crack of the door. “But I would. And I did.”
Your eyes then darted through the crack of the door to your Miles. You were about to shout out to him so he could wake up.
but you were stopped by the other Miles. He put a hand under your chin, making you face him. “It’s no use to help him. [name]..” he started to caress your cheek.
“Please. Let us go. We just want to go home. We have to save… my Miles’s dad. I’m sorry if I was special to you... but please. Let me and Miles go.” You said, pleadingly.
His face contorted into anger, and jealousy. “He.. he as his Dad too?” He took his hand off your face. And his blood began to boil. He clenched his fists, making his knuckles turn white.
“We have to save him! He’s gonna die and we have to stop it! Please.. please let us go.”You looked deep into his eyes, trying to get through to him.
He furrowed his eyebrows at you.
“Why should I.. why should I let you go when I finally have you back?” He put a hand to your cheek again, caressing it. “How come he gets to have so much?” There was jealousy laced in his voice. “…His Dad, a safe city.. and you. How come he gets it all? When I get nothing. And all that has happened… could’ve been avoided.”
“I’m really sorry. I’m sure you, and the me in this universe had a tight bond. I’m sure we were close friends as I am with my Miles.”
He scoffed. “Friends? [name]. You were my girlfriend.”
Your eyes widened. And a very faint blush crept onto your face.
“I loved you more than anything. I loved you more than life itself. You meant everything to me. I watched you die, and I watched my dad die with you. I watched you to die live on the news.. a building fell on top of you, my dad tried to save you but it was too late.” His voice was shaky now.
“I—“ he wouldn’t let you finish.
“You were the only girl I’ve ever loved… And you were taken from me.” He leaned in closer.
“You can’t even begin to understand how I felt, seeing you appear out of nowhere, with a boy who looks just like me.”
He got even closer.
“A lookalike from an entirely universe who has you? A living you? And you want me to just, let you go? Just like that? When I finally have you back?.” he trailed off, taking his hand off your face, backing away.
He smiled at you. “You look just as beautiful as you did the day I lost you querida. I never thought I would see your face again.”
He looked at your unconscious Miles through the crack of the open door, his face became a deadpan as he looked back over at you.
“I’m not going to lose you again. And nobody is going to take you away from me. Especially that copy of me.”
He brought his attention back over at your unconscious Miles, hatred and resentment in his heart. For what felt like hours, he looked back at you once more.
“And you can’t do anything to stop me.” He turned his back to you, walking out the door, locking it from the outside, you tried getting up, but you fell to the floor.
He had tied your wrists and ankles while you were unconscious. And you haven’t even noticed when you woke up.
You were stuck here, and he’s not going to let you go. .

Enter Venomgirl
A/N:  this slight trigger warning it gets dark abit mid-way. I put a warning just in case
Ch.25
Shade’s Pov
Are you merdia kidding me?!  First, the whole me trying to fuse with Miguel thing, and now this? Does this asshole really have beef with me or something? Or does he just like toying with people?!
“Ah! Long time no see Venomgirl.”
I, Miles, and Miguel look up to see Dr.Rose with his flamboyant steampunk get up. He was on the platform above us looking down with a smirk.
“My you seem different from the last time we met. Did you change your hair? Or maybe got some new friend?”
I just glare at him not wanting to deal with one of the six and I know she is still here. I can feel it.
“Well, at least my new friends aren’t this monster you got here. Hurting kids, your guys are getting lower and lower by the day.” I said not taking my eyes off Carnage who just standing waving 42 around. Mocking us that we can’t go in and save him, with wrong one move and he can just easily snap his neck.
“Oh dear, your the monster in your new little friend group silly. I wonder did tell them how really you are?”
“Haha! She wild? like me? Yeah right! The last two times I fought her, she was wussying out.” Carnage laughed as he choked 42 harder. 42 was struggling to break free from his grabs. Miles was about to go invisible but before he could, Carnage’s tendrils aimed at him.
“Ah ah ah. You're not going to do that now, or do want to see how you look like dead?” all three of us were surprised he knew about the variants and I guess Carnage liked the idea that just gave a twisted laugh.
“Oh, come on now. I have been spying on you guys for months now and I’m very good at it maybe better than before.”
“Who, are you working for? Alachemax?” Miguel said in a very angry tone “I know you from My Earth. So who owns you? Because my Venom is in someone else and it shouldn’t be able to create a Carnage.”
“Haha! Let's just say I found a red one. It looks better on me than black. But you do remind me after I finish with you I need to get rid of that Venom. But since you have been good I will say you right that from your Earth.”
“I figure much.42 now!”  Miguel shouted at 42. While Miguel was distracting him 42 was able to charge his claw glove and shock Carnage, with a full blast of it. He screamed and let go of 42. Miguel used his web to pull 42 away from Carnage. Carnage snapped out of the shock. Man, he is more durable and it seems he is more resistant to electricity than me.
“You shocking brat!” he roars as his tendril aims at 42 and Miguel. I got in front of them and slashed his tendrils with my tendrils blade to cut them off. As I was having a tendril battle with carnage, Miles quickly ran to Gwen, Hobie, and Pavitr seeing they were ok. I can see them three struggling to get up.
‘ At least they ok.’ Kuro said in my head. I was glad too, I quickly wrapped my tendrils around him and spun him around, slamming him to the far wall.
“Lyla! Open portal!” Miguel tries to call out to Lyla to open the portal as I help Miles with Hobie and them. We wait for a minute, something that we can barely afford right now as I see Carnage getting up and Dr.Rose starting to set his illu-bombs at us.
“Mig-Spider-Man! What's going on?!” I yelled figuring out why there was no portal yet. Miguel tries to make a portal but nothing happens. I spit out the watch 42 gave me and try to make a portal myself. Nothing. 42 and Miles tried too but still nothing.
“Oh, look like the collider working. How about that? We able to stop anyone to come in or out so we have time to kill.” Dr.Rose said as he jumped down as Carnage got up, now growling at us. At the same time. Gwen, Hobie, and Pav got up to. They were masked still but who knows if the Six took it off and now know who they are.
“Heh, what took...you guys…so long?” Hobie said trying to make light of things but was in the pickle. Still try to get himself together just like Gwen and Pavitr.
“Hey, you three are up? Had a good nap?”
Gwen and Pav glare at Dr.Rose I can tell he used his bomb on them, I can feel their fear from whatever memory he brought back. I growled at the idea he would do that, to kids no less. Then again Dr.Rose is the most sadistic out of the six.
“Yeah, I’m going to have to pay you back for the room servers you gave us” Hobie sneered while Dr.Rose just chuckled that was starting to piss me off
“Sorry, we didn’t have time to give guys a nice room. But I’ll give  you all  free entertainment.”
The lights then went out of the facility. Then one big light appears above us to show a woman.
“LADIES, GENTLEMEN, AND ALL BETWEEN! I BRING JUSTICE, LOVE, AND PEACE FROM THE GREAT ONES. I…” She jumps down as she does covering the walls and ceiling with her webs. She cut off anyway for us to use of any air attacks.
“I THE GREAT ARACHNIDQUEEN WILL STRIKE ALL EVILDOS DOWN!” Arachnidqueen said as she snapped her finger to turn on all the lights went on and her cameras floated down and surrounded all of us. We all stare at her, Great ones, I want to punch her in the face. “How was that? Did you all get my awesome speech and all the good side of my face?”
“Yeah. hope you got me too. My fans had been thirsting for me for a while. Got give my fans something.”  Dr.Rose joked as the cameras drones came out nowhere
Arachnidqueen then turned toward us and pointed at us. “Look like you have poisoned another group of people. And children too, what a monster you are Venomgirl.”
“Why don’t you guys shut up about who the monster is here?! All you guys think you're the high and mighty.”  Miles shouted, I could sense his anger for me and he wasn’t the only one, as all of them were angry, with me?
“Your guys are working with a Carnage! You do know what he will do to you and your earth?!”
Arachnidqueen wasn’t amused by Miles's words, Void wasn’t even paying attention to him as she was fixing one of her cameras that seemed to be not working right or what the vuck going on with it.
“Really?! Did you hear a word I said?!”
I walk up to Miles and put my hand on his shoulder. “Don’t bother. She so dense a whale call won’t give her you have to…” I turn my arm into tendrils and grab one of the cameras to throw it at her to get her attention. Arachnidqueen caught the camera I threw as she looked annoyed by what I did, good.
“Hey! Those cost me a lot of money! And you ruining my shots!”
“Good. maybe for once the world can see me kicking your ass.” I grew my claws. “Your guys are out number you know?”
Arachnidqueen just smirked and so did Carnage and Dr.Rose.
“Poor dumb Venomgirl. I’m never alone! I have the Great ones on my side! And our glorious leader and the help who have help from beyond.”
I glare at her knowing Penny is still here. I look up to see where she is, I can see her floating above us, sitting on one of Arachnisqueen’s webs. she staring us down with her cold pink eyes. Before I could react Carnage pushed Arachnidqueen out of the way.
“Who the shock care with all this god talk you have been spilling. That one!” Carnage pointed to Miguel and gave a sick grin. “He mine!!” he roared as he released a bunch of tendrils at us. I jumped to the nearest wall. The kids and Miguel did the same avoiding them as they spread across. Arachnidqueen and Dr.Rose also jumped and landed on her webs.
“Tch. he is so wild and has no style. I give you that much Venomgirl.”Dr. Rose said as a compliment or what an equal to one.  Dr. Rose then pulled out his snap his finger and his drones came out of nowhere. They then start shooting at us. I grabbed some of the drones and threw them at each other, seem like everyone had the same idea. The kids had great teamwork and I’m amazed. I’m not going to lie I underestimated them sometimes because I thought they were just kids. There are kids with supers powers duh. I grip on the wall at the same time Miguel lands next to me. He has 42 on his back as he is still not well from almost being choked to death.
“Shade, What can that Dr.Rose guy do? Is he like a Doc Ock?”
I shook my head “No, he is like Msytro I think you guys call that one, he can do illusion. He has this gas that he put in his bomb and when you get it show you your worst memories.”
Even with the mask on I can tell  Miguel didn’t like the sound of that. I wouldn’t blame him. I was hit once and it was one of the worst days of my life. I didn’t have time to dwell on it as more of the drones were targeting us. Dr.Rose never has enough. I was about to launch myself at Dr.Rose sitting who kept giving us smug grins and filing his nails. Till Carnage grabs and pins me on the wall.
“He doesn’t have much style but he does get the job done.” Dr. Rose said as got up and was about to throw an Illu-bomb till Miles’s web grabbed his arm. Dr.Rose then pulls Miles to him, he doesn’t look strong but he is.
“Sorry, but you're not Spider-man I’m after.” he then grabs Miles by his neck. I see Miles using charging electricity in his hands and trying to grab one of the bombs. Dr.Rose then punched Miles in the face and threw him to the ground. He wasn’t the only one on the ground as kids were getting overwhelmed by the drones and Arachnidqueen’s webs they had been slicing and forcing them to be on the ground.
“How about you kids have a nice nightmare!” Dr. Rose yelled as he was about to throw one of the bombs. I struggle to break free from Carnage’s tendrils, he was about to bite me till Miguel grabbed him behind me and slammed him to the other side of the wall.
‘ We have to help them kids, before flowely hurt them!’
‘You don’t have to tell me twice!’ I quickly dropped down and ran as fast as I could before the bomb hit the kids.
~
Miguel’s Pov
I trying to capture Carnage, and let me just say I would take Vulture any day week over this sick villain. He grab me and slammed into the walls. I quickly got up try to dodge his tendrils.
“Just like old times aye Spider-man?” Carnage then stabs his tendril in my leg or tries to. My suit made it hard for it to pierce my leg but it hurt like hell.
“I don’t know who you are, but your pissing me shock off.” I slash his tendril to get away from him. I try to think how I’m going to stop him. I can’t summon anything because my watch is down and has saved energy to keep me from glitching, I look down to see that Shade and the Kids are fighting Arachnidqueen and that Dr. Rose guy. He was about to throw one of his bombs at Pav. before I could react to anything Carnage grabbed me and threw me at the group. I slam hard on the ground to the point I thought I was going to be knocked out.
“Everyone! Watch out!” I heard Shade yell as I saw her taking a hit from what looked like a bomb hit her head. She took the hit for Pav who would have gotten hit. The smoke spread around us in a purple fog.
~
Third person POV
The Purple smoke Spread around Shade and the Spiders to much of Dr.Rose and Arachnidqueen were amazed. Carnage tries to run in to smoke so he can torment the group some more, but when he tries to get in it feels like he slams into an invisible wall.
“What the shock?!” Carnage turns to Dr.Rose and grabs him with tendrils to pull him closer to him.
“What the hell is this?!”
Dr.Rose pulled the tendril off of him and brushed himself off. Not liking this freak touches him and his outfit.
“It’s my illusion, once it hits someone they are in their worst nightmare. But that one Spider with electric power must have malfunctioned my bomb so it went into it full power when that happened no one outside of this bubble could go in. will beside me.”
“Then go in.”
Everyone turns to see women floating above them. Looking down with her glowing pink eyes.
“Oh, Penny. I was wondering where you were since you dragged all these guesses to my lab. You do know I had plans with my boyfriend right?” Dr.Rose huffed at his boss, Penny just ignored the comment not caring what her teammate did outside of their job.
“You're going in and get me that Spiderman, right? Those three we caught weren’t changing so you be getting me that Spider-man. The big one. According to Andrew the big one, DNA is different from the other ones. So he should be useful.” Penny said after she said that Carnage’s tendrils aimed at her but didn’t get close to her as something was holding them back. Penny wasn’t fazed by the attack.
“I told you he mine!!”
“He is yours after I’m done with him or do want me to remind you what happened last time.” Carnage grabbed his neck as he was being choked out by what felt like a strong hand. Penny let him go and turned to Dr.Rose
“Go in and get him.”
Dr.Rose nodded and pulled out his weapon which was a medical scalpel as he entered the bubble. Carnage hissed getting up, he was beyond pissed and was about to attack her till his watch beeped as a voice was heard in his earpiece.
“Don’t you dare. You've done enough. The next time try to kill a client I will detonate the bomb that in your body. Got it?”
Carnage growled as he relented and nodded.
~
Miguel’s Pov
I was coughing from the purple smoke I’m glad I had a mask on and I hope the others do too. I help make everyone's suit a bit more durable after the Spot the event so I hope it helps.
“Miguel?!”
“Gwen?!”
“Hobies?!”
“Pravitr?!”
“42?!”
“Shade?!”
I heard Kid's voice in the fog, I tried to see through the fog as it was so thick even for my eyes. My other senses were also shot. Shock! This fog is different from the other Mystrios variant like it alive. Soon the surroundings change around me, no longer just purple fog but a burning building. Judging from the lockers around me it was a school.
“Miguel?!” I turn to to see the kids. Oh, thank shocking god. I rushed to them to see if they were ok. Hobie was holding 42 up, still weak from Carnage choking him. Gwen, Hobie, and Pav also seem a bit better. Miles was looking around looking for someone then I realized, where Shade is?
“Help!” we all heard a voice but it sounded like Shade we rushed towards the sound of her voice. As we did we saw kids running out, some were on fire others were covered in blood. Gwen tried to reach toward one to help them but when she did her hand went through them.
“This is an illusion.” I hissed I have to admit this illusion is the most real. I can feel the heat from the fire. I know how the kids want to help these people but they can’t they're not real. The horror was too real as we continued running towards Shade yelling as explosions were heard. We reach a classroom which looks worse out of all of them. I ran into the room to see the ceiling collapse their kids lying around knowing they were not alive.
“What happened here?!” Pavitr shouted scared out of his mind. Even though Spider-people he still a kid all of them try to stay strong. Even I trying to stay strong. I quickly looked around till I saw a girl in the ramble in a school uniform her hair was black and her face was covered in blood, but her face was familiar.
“Help! Please help! Anyone!”  the girl or Shade yelled. One of her arms was pinned in the ramble while the other looked mangled. She was trying to reach out for help. I couldn’t help to reach for her, but when my hands went threw her I forgot this might be an illusion. Was this a..
“This her memory.” I turn to 42. “Shade told me and Miles that this Dr. Rose guy was able to bring someone worse memories once you get hit with his bomb. Shade must have taken the hit.”
“Please! Help! My friend she-she” We all turn back to this Shade who was crying harder. We look at where she looking. I saw just a couple feet from us was another girl who was in a puddle of blood. This was all hard to watch.
“Why the vuck your not help?!”
A new voice was heard as we all turned to see the wall on the other side of the room was gone and not far we saw two people. a boy arguing with what looks like Arachnidqueen who looks young too. The boy was angry at her looking like he barely got out himself.
“You're a hero right?! Go in and help them! My friends are still in there.”
Arachnidqueen just smiled while keeping the boy from rushing back in.
“I am but I made sure no was left that. I’m afraid they are not alive.”
We all look at her like she is crazy. There are still kids running here out there damn minds. There were still some kids trapped we heard screams from the other side as still trying to get out. The Boy must heard this as we saw him going back in but Arachnidqueen stopped him.
“Let me go! You're not going to let them die are you?!”
“I didn’t, I got out the people in school, and you're the last one. There ‘no one’ left to save. Or no one worth saving”
I may widen. Everyone's eyes widen as they realize what she means. The rest of the kids that still down here, there were just no bodies to her. Her words were so sicking that I didn’t realize my talons were out of anger. I wasn't the only one who felt that as I saw Gwen, Hobbies, and Pav's hands turn into fists while Miles's hand gave off electricity it was very intense meaning he was angry.
“What?” I turn to back to Shade who was flabbergasted from hearing what Arachnidqueen just said. Even with all the screaming and roar of the flames she heard it. Her hand was still reaching out for someone to help her go down and I could see the look of helplessness in her eyes like she truly had given up.
“Please. I don’t want to die. I don’t want to die. Mommy. Daddy. Please I’m so scared. I want to make you proud.” Shade in a whisper but we were still able to hear her. We could do nothing but watch this. Is this what she went through?
“Mr.O’hara?” Pav said as he stepped backward he wasn’t the only one as Hobie, Gwen, and Miles did the same. I could tell their spider senses were going off I got up ready to fight the threat till Miles pointed at Shade again. As look back I can see her hair was turning white the color we usually see her with. Then heard a creaking noise, I looked at her arm which was twitching as it began to reset itself and started to turn black against her dark skin.
“I’m not a nobody. Does she see me, us as just lesser people?!” tendril was grown around her trying to get the ceiling off her.  At the same, her mouth was creaking and splitting as her sharp teeth were formed. Her eyes turn completely red.
“This your fault! You call yourself a hero?! You're not!  Ti ammazzo! Bukkorosu! I’ll kill you!!!” Shade roared out as her tendril exploded everywhere, slashing the debris off of her. Smoke covered the room, we looked to see where Shade went till we saw a huge shadow where she was. It growls deeply as looks far ahead at Arachnidqueen. Before I could react to anything the massive creature toward Arachnidqueen who barely had time to get out of the way. We could hear the roar from a distance. I took one step forward the moment I did the scenery changed around us again. This time were outside looked like an empty street.
“Where…are we now?” Gwen asked, she was shaken from what we just saw. I wouldn’t blame her, we all are. I heard footsteps as we looked up to see someone in a robe running towards us. As they ran past us I could tell it was Shade, she was covering herself up. Something tells me we should follow her.
“Come on,” I said as we ran after her. Shade ran into an alleyway as she reached the end she stopped. As we got close to her we saw what she saw. A burn-down building. As she got closer tears were running down her face as she went inside.
“This was her home…” Pav said as we looked at her burn-down house. I wonder who did this, but something tells me it was Alachemax or the Six.
“Guys…” 42 pointed to where Shade was as she was holding what looked like two charred bodies. They Shocker wouldn’t. They couldn’t?
“Papa. Mama.” Shade whispers holding them close. Gwen and Pav gasped. Hobie and 42 turned away so did Miles. Shade was visibly shaking as she held her deceased parents, she let out a scream that was so loud and heartbreaking we had to cover our ears. Her eyes were turning red and judging from the scream that was changing from roar, she turned to that creature again. The scene turns again, wondering where the shock we are now?!
It turned into a facility this time and judging from the damage that was around us, it looked like there was a battle just happened. I heard Gwen gasp loudly as we turned to hear, she was covering her eyes and realized why as she saw Shade kneeling to a guy who looked like he was turning back from…being the Lizard
“No no no! Why didn’t you call?!” Shade said hold him as he was bleeding from the chest. I note what happened from Shade’s bleeding hands, she stabbed him.
“Patrick! I can get help! Just hang on...” Patrick grabs Shade weakly, keeping her from leaving. He knew he not going to make it so he gave a weak smile.
“Shade, it's ok. It's not your fault…please keep going… you're not a monster…you always…be my hero,” he said with his last breath. Shade tries to shake him awake.
“No! No! Stay with me! No! Please! Don’t leave me too!”
“There the monster ladies and Gentlemen! She strikes down an innocent man in cold blood and turns him into a monster with her venom!” We saw the same drones from earlier come down hones on Shade as she held her friend. This is sick.
“This Venomgirl that poison are great sectors! But fear not I the great Arachnidqueen and the valiant Six will strike this evil down!”
Shade was surrounded by drones and the six of the Vailents and not only a small army. We all wondering how Shade got out of that?! She was by herself.
“ uccidimi e basta, bastardo.”
Before we saw what happened the purple fog came back as it surrounded us. I want to get us out here, but I don’t even know where to go. Usually, we can get out of these types of illusions but since this is more like a vision of memory there is no real danger.
“Please…stop…I  don’t want to see this… not again…” This time we heard Shade the real Shade she was kneading in front of us. Her eyes were completely purple and she was shaking.
“Please…stop…no more.”
“Shade-” I was about to go to her till I saw someone behind her. It was Dr.Rose who had a scalpel in his hand and was about to stab Shade. I didn’t have time to think about what to do, my body just reacted. The next thing I know I felt wetness on my back and Shade looking at me in shock.
~
Third person POV
Shade was holding Miguel shocked that he was real, not a memory hell she was just in. She felt some wetness on Miguel's back as Miguel struggled to stay awake. The scalpel he was stabbed by has something on it like toxic. His body won’t move, he can’t even talk.
“Oops. I was trying to get you Venomgirl but it seems your ‘friend’ took the hit for you. How many have to die for you to maintain your existence?” Dr. Rose mocked before Hobies ran up to him a punched him in the face. Gwen, Pav, and 42 also join him as they make sure they get between them. Miles ran up to Miguel to see if he was ok. He can get out Lyla to tell if his vial signs are ok. Shade still didn’t move processing what going on.
“Hey, you fucking cunt! Do you think some big shout kicking someone down when they can’t defend themself? And you guys call yourself heroes. More like corporate pigs.”
“Oh my punky young child, I am so a hero. I here help change the world and defend from creatures like her. She even turns that kill one of our best Alachemax employees. You all must see how she strikes him down.”
Shade didn’t listen to what Dr.Rose had to say. She doesn’t hear anything right now, only seeing Miguel in her arms the same way as Patrick was. Her hands are covered in blood as she tries to figure it out. Is this real?
‘Did I do that? no…I …it my fault…no! It's their fault. I hurt someone again. I didn’t do it! Why does this always happen? They are the ones who keep making me out as a monster. This my fault…this my fault…this my fault…’
Miles quickly ran to Shade and Miguel to see if he was ok. He not moving and there was blood coming from his back. Miles was panicking as Dr. Rose's needle was that strong to pierce Miguel’s outfit.
To Miguel he wasn’t out, he was paralyzed, similar to how his venom works. if wasn’t for his so what immune to it, he was sure this would have been lethal to him. He tried to move but he couldn’t, he tried to speak. But he can’t. He can feel Shade shaking while she was holding him, still traumatized from the illusion she was just in.
“Shade, we have to-” Miles was about to help stop the bleeding. The spider-sense went off again, He quickly grabbed Miguel from Shade as her tendrils shot out of her. Miles watches as her tendrils start wrapping around her. Consume her like he had seen a symbiote do to their host.
Dr.Rose smirked knowing what going next as jumped out gas bubble before anything.
“You guys have fun with Berzerk.”
Before the four could be asked what he meant, Hobie, Gwen, and Pav's spider-sense also went off. They turn back to Miles, Miguel, and Shade, Miles holding Miguel away from Shade, whose form is changing into something bigger and more monstrous. Her muscles grew as her fingers grew into sharper claws. Her arms turn from black to white while the rest of her turn to black. Shade’s form was more similar to Venom's, but her braided ponytail turned more blade-like and she grew a long sharp tail. As her mouth opens wide, her teeth way too big now and dripping acid on the floor melting it, Shade towers over the kids growling until she lets out an ear-piercing roar.
Back outside the bubble, Dr.Rose jumped out not having the Spider-Man that Penny wanted. Carnage smirked seeing he was empty-handed.
“What the matter? Got lost in own damn bubble.” Carnage mocked till he sensed something strong in a bubble, something similar to him. He knew Shade was in there but she didn’t give off a strong signal.
“You might get a wish on fighting her in her true form.”
Before Carnage can respond an ear-piercing roar is heard in the gas bubble. It was so loud, that it broke as the gas disappeared. Carnage, Arachnidqueen, Dr, Rose, and Penny. Saw the hulking creature in front of them.
“Great, you let her turn into Berzerk.” Penny was not happy and more annoyed by the problem. She looked at the group of kids who was one of them still holding Miguel. She knows that Dr.Rose’s venom won’t last long.
“You three take care of her,” Penny said as she made her way to a group of kids. The Kids were too focused on what happened to Shade. Shade or Berzerk stare down at them, all in her eyes look like Arachnidqueen. Smiling and mocking her.
‘You're not a hero.’
‘You nothing but a monster’
‘All you is make things worse.’
‘You should have never been born.’
“ Shut…up…”
Miles tries to get up while holding Miguel on his shoulder. He can feel Miguel twitch a bit, hope he gets his feel back to stop Shade.
“Shade?”
“ Bukkorosu!” Berzerk roars out as her tendril spreads far to cover the room. Everyone barely had time to dodge them, as they spread across the floor forcing them to be on the wall Miles had hold while Hobie had hold because he wasn’t fast enough. Arachnidqueen, Carnage, Dr.Rose, and Penny also jump to avoid the tendrils.
The tendrils that spread on the flood were burning the flood with acid, and the kids gulped not thinking what would happen if they stayed down there. Berzerk growled scanning the room of all the people around her all she sees is Arachnidqueen mocking her Carnage grins seeing that Spider-man was still not harmed.
Yet
Carnage then jumped towards the group of kids ready to kill them. He did want to kill them slowly in front of him but this will have to do. Before he can reach them. Berzerk’s tendrils grab him and slam on to the floor, Berzerk grabs him by his leg and repeatedly slams him on the ground with pure brutality.
“Stop vile fiend! You do not cause harm-” Arachindqueen tried to say till she also grabbed my tendril slam on top of Carnage. Berzerk’s hand turned into sharp claws and stabbed them till Miguel’s red web grabbed her arm. Berzerk turns back at the group of kids with a glare with her red eyes.
Miles and them were shocked that Miguel was ok and moving. Miguel barely has enough strength to keep Berzerk.
“Everyone! Grab the  web and pull!” Miguel said as he shouted another web from his other arm to keep Berzerk from continuing her beat down of the two villains. Berzerk began to pull against them as they struggled to hold her back. A gunshot shot out that hit Berzerk on the head. Everyone turns to see four pairs of flintlock musket guns floating near Penny, who has her arm folded and is just annoyed by a situation that she will have to deal with later.  Arachnidqueen and Carnage were pulled towards her and left up by an unknown force.
“All you three are useless fools.”
“Hey! I was doing my job” Dr.Rose huffed at his Penny comment
“A job you failed let those Spiders take care of her and whoever she killed will take it.” Penny grabbed Rose and left the room, Berzerk growled at her as his head healed from a gunshot and pulled the webbing off of her. She then charges at Penny and them, Penny closes the triple steel door to lock her and the other Spiders in.
Berzerk repeatedly punches the door starting to make dented realizing she won’t get out. Anger and rage filled Berzerk more, and one of the Arachnidqueens got away.
“ Won’t get away.”
“Shade snap out of it.”
Berzerk turns around at the group growling at them, at least she can kill them. The sound familiar, her mind to the cloud from the gas and the pain of the memories she was forced to relive. She just wants to make the pain stop, she know how to get rid of the problem. All of them has their hands up, not wanting to hurt their friend.
“Come mate, you're not like this.”
“Yeah, you good person we can tell.”
“Let us help you.”
The Kids said, wanting to get Shade back to her senses. What they saw and what Shade has been through they understand why she keeps her distance or she doesn’t want help.
“ You only see me as a monster. Let me show how monstrous I really am!!” Berzerk jumped at them at high speed as kids jumped down trying to figure out what to do. Hobie doesn’t have his guitar to use sound against her. Miles and 42 can’t get near her to shock her again. Shade was way faster than them, her bladed tendrils slashed everywhere on the wall and floor. The slash strike some of them. Shade wants everyone gone, and wants to show a monster that the world wants her to be.
One of the slashes hit Miles and 42 in their leg. Berzerk saw this and charged at them ready to finish the job till Miguel got between the three. He was holding her back as her tendril sliced his arms, chest, and back. His suit it the most durable so it barely stop the blade from doing in deeper. Berzerk opened her mouth and was about to bite his head off when Miguel dissolved his mask to show her his face.
“Shade! Stop!”
Berzerk stopped staring at Miguel . he didn’t look like Arachnidqueen he looked like Miguel. She was confessed by this on why he here?
“ Mig…uel?”
“Shade snap out of this. This is what they wanted. Don’t try to prove them right!” Miguel huffed through the pain from all the slashes he received. Berzerk or Shade’s eyes widen and back to purple. she come back to her senses as turns back to normal. She look around the room to see the slash she made and the harm she caused to Miguel and the kids. Shade was shaken up by how could done that. Hurt the people she started to think of as her friends and she hurt them. Just like before.
“Shade you-” Miguel reach to her, knowing she going to blame herself. Before he could her tendril slapped his arms away and back away from the others. Before anyone could say anything Shade dashed towards the steel do that couldn’t break before and with one mighty punch she broke through and ran away from them, not wanting to hurt them ever again.

Chanhee was peeved. The elegant script on his wrist didn't remotely resemble the harsh lines of Korean characters, rather the curly and exaggerated letters of the English language. How could fate be so cruel, to match two people who may not ever meet? It was a tragedy. But what really made him upset was that he couldn’t even read his soulmate’s name.
On the other hand, Y/N was very excited when the ink appeared on her wrist. All of her friends were complaining about how basic and common the names of their soulmates were, narrowing their chances of finding the right person. But not this young girl, no, her soulmate wasn’t a James or a William. He was exotic, someone who’s name that she’d have to study to be able to learn; and she loved the challenge.
Chanhee’s soulmate’s name had made itself known when he’d turned sixteen, almost dead center of his high school career. At this point, he’d completed his required language credits with two semesters of Japanese, and it seemed that he’d have to sacrifice his extra choir classes for English ones. It’s not that Chanhee was off-put by the fact his soulmate was different, he was actually quite excited. He just believed that the romance may have been doomed before it had even begun because of the distance. There were too many ‘what if’s’ to factor in, and it made Chanhee’s heart hurt when he thought about it too much. All of the heartache was left behind when Chanhee was first able to utter the name on his wrist.
Y/N L/N....
Y/N’s wrist had also been inked when she’d turned sixteen. Unlike the sprawling cursive that she’d seen adorn the wrists of her friends and family, Y/N’s wrist was characterized with dark lines and odd symbols that she couldn’t decipher. It was puzzling to say the least, but the scowl had quickly turned into a smile. Unlike Chanhee, she hadn’t fulfilled any language credits, leaving the challenge of learning Korean right open. It took her awhile to figure out that the language was indeed Korean, believing it to be Chinese first. But eventually the symbols matched to letters and the words all fell into place…
Choi Chanhee…
Both people were giddy with excitement, continuously mouthing the name of their soulmate over and over, ingraining it to memory. They threw themselves into studying the other’s language, losing sleep some nights just to perfect simple sentences. By the time Chanhee had graduated high school, there wasn’t a doubt in his mind about attending an English university. He applied all over the world, applications being sent out to America, Great Britain and even places in Asia that had good exchange student programs if going abroad failed.
Unfortunately, Y/N had the same idea. She applied to every major university in South Korea, hoping to god she’d get in. She had other colleges in mind too; ones with good Korean History majors with exchange programs. The pair got their acceptance letters on the same day, shock written all over their faces. Out of every university, they each only got accepted to one choice; it had to have been fate.
Chanhee spent the summer studying English for his first semester at NYU, anxiously trying to master as much as the foreign language as he could. Y/N took summer classes at UCLA to brush up on her Korean, the acceptance letter to Seoul National University tacked to her cork board the moment it had come in. Both were anxious, hoping and praying that fate would give them a chance. To Y/N and Chanhee, the single acceptance letters meant a meeting, a one out of a hundred chances that they could be together.
Chanhee’s bags were packed and loaded into his family’s car by 7:30 am that August day, his flight leaving at approximately 8:45 and headed to New York. The time difference was messing with Chanhee’s brain the deeper he thought about it; He would technically land at 10 am on August 7th, the same day he departed his home in South Korea, but yet almost fourteen hours ahead. Regardless, Chanhee found himself settled into a less than comfortable economy class seat on a plane that would hopefully take him to his soulmate.
Y/N didn’t get any sleep on August 6th; there was honestly no point. She would have to leave her childhood home shortly after midnight to catch her 1:30 am flight to New York. There wasn’t a huge difference between Los Angeles and New York, her flight putting her in the state a little after 10 am. The flight wasn’t long, around five hours if she was lucky. The flight to South Korea that would follow would be hell; she didn’t know how on earth she’d be able to stand a fourteen hour flight. She’d have to count on lots of sleep.
--- Y/N’s POV - 10:34 am ---
JFK International Airport was just as big and noisy as I’d expected it to be. Too bad I had a headache and couldn’t appreciate the full beauty of New York City. Every corner I turned had people from different parts of the globe at it, their native languages adding to the endless chatter that bounced off the walls of the airport. I got to baggage claim a little bit after 10:30, spotting my mustard yellow suitcase from a mile away. My smaller plastic case covered in stickers ordered off of Amazon conveniently laid next to it. After successfully attaching the small box to my suitcase, I took off towards the shuttles, catching one before it had shut its doors.
I took a seat and pulled up a map on my phone, trying to figure out where the seating area and terminal were for my next flight to South Korea. Sighing to myself when I saw they were on the opposite side of the airport, I shut my phone off and closed my eyes. So much for the idea of stopping for breakfast.
--- Chanhee’s POV - 10:42 ---
Baggage claim had been a nightmare. I’d frozen at the sheer amount of English that I hadn’t heard which area his suitcase would be dropped off at. A business-looking woman had kindly told me in broken Korean as we exited the terminal. I thanked her profusely before running off in the opposite direction, following the many arrows and signs meant to direct me towards the baggage claim. In the end I found it with just enough time to claim my silver suitcase before it disappeared through the chute. I sighed with relief, the voice in my head had been dreading having to go to a help desk and attempt to explain the situation.
The shuttle was practically empty of people heading to the main building of JFK International Airport. It was easier on me this way, I could read everything and fully absorb information without crowds of people getting in the way. As I exited the shuttle, luggage dragging across the ground behind me, my neck tingled slightly. It was like a breeze had come through and raised the hairs on the back of my neck. I couldn’t describe the feeling, it was overwhelming yet not in so many different ways. Unfortunately the moment was ruined by the ringing of my cell phone. I sighed and unlocked it, answering the call and putting the phone to my ear.
--- Y/N’s POV - 10:49 am ---
I ambled around the main expanse of the airport, looking for my terminal and any fast-food restaurant that could fulfill my stomach without making me miss my flight. I’d already passed through airport security, the process much quicker here than back home in LAX. I scanned the faces of so many people, trying to find one that looked friendly enough to go up to. If I could just find someone who might know where the Asian airlines were, I could save myself a trip to an Airport Help Desk that could take more time than I was willing to sacrifice.
As I strutted along I caught the ending of a conversation in Korean. I listened for a moment to confirm I was indeed comprehending the language and turned to pinpoint the source of the conversation. About ten feet away stood a guy; He was taller than me, with a skinny and lanky body and thick brown hair that resembled a mullet if you squinted. He was speaking rapid Korean into his phone, pushing hair out of his face, his soulmate tattoo peeking out from under his sleeves.
In a moment of desperation, I made my way over to him, hoping that he had indeed just come from Korea and would know which shuttle I could take to find my terminal. It really did seem silly, fully aware that I was choosing a person who’s language I was still learning over any other passerby who could comprehend my native tongue. But something in the back of my mind was urging me to go to him, to speak to him. I reached him just as he had seemingly hung up on the phone, his hand tucking the device back into his pocket.
“Excuse me, could you tell me where terminal T18 is?”
I spoke slowly, hoping that I’d gotten every pronunciation and word correct. He stared at me in stunned silence, his mouth gaped open. After a long pause, he regained his consciousness and responded in Korean.
“Maybe- try taking that shuttle over there. I’m pretty sure T18 was near where I came from.”
--- Third POV - 10:50 ---
Chanhee honestly couldn’t believe that his first interaction in America would be in Korean. He was so ready to speak English, pushing all the doubts of his pronunciation and accent down. But here he was, speaking in his sharp Korean to a complete stranger, a foreigner no less. Though, he supposed, he was the foreigner now.
The girl bowed briefly and thanked him, turned to re-grab her loaded down suitcase and head to the shuttle loading area. She was beautiful, Chanhee thought. Her piercing (e/c) eyes and her expertly tied up (h/c) hair. The light makeup she wore suited her, and the form-fitting leggings accented the muscles in her thighs and calves well. He didn’t mean to shamelessly check her out, but it was hard not to appreciate true beauty when he saw it.
In the split second the girl went to walk away his hand shot out and grabbed her forearm. Both of them were shocked to say the least; Chanhee’s thoughts were very muddled when he met her eyes. Just as she was about to speak, Chanhee beat her to it in his best English.
“Where are you going?”
The girl seemed puzzled, and looked down at the grip he had on her arm. Chanhee immediately released her and stepped back, allowing the girl to take him in fully as well.
Y/N was shocked when she felt the hand stop her from advancing forward, and even more shocked when the stranger asked her a basic question in heavily accented English. She was torn between talking to the very handsome stranger and getting to the terminal early. She examined the time on her watch, the digital face telling her it was 11 am before meeting the eyes of the man and responding.
“I’m going to South Korea, I’m attending college in Seoul.”
Chanhee seemed surprised by the answer, though he didn’t know what he was expecting coming from someone he happened to stumble across in the airport. He supposed that this meeting was a chance, a Korean-speaking American stopping and asking an English-speaking Korean for directions to her terminal. They thought made him pause then smile, wondering if this had been fate.
“What’s your name?” Chanhee asked quietly, the ghost of a smile on his lips and hope in his eyes.
“Y/N.” She responded, turning towards Chanhee questioningly, still not catching on to what was happening. “What’s yours? What brings you to New York?”
Happiness. Joy. Excitement. These were all the emotions coursing through Chanhee. Y/N, a face to the words scrawled on his wrist. There was no doubt in his mind that this was his soulmate; that this was his home.
“My name is Chanhee, nice to meet you! I’m in America for college as well.”
The look of shock that crossed your face when you processed his words would stay in his mind forever. The way Y/N’s eyes sparkled with tears, and the way her lips curved upwards into a brilliant smile. The airport seemed to quiet around them, as if time was frozen in this moment just for them.
Y/N was shocked; She didn’t think that this chance meeting would be the one to bring her and her soulmate together. She thought that meeting Chanhee would have occurred in a class or perhaps at a small coffee house near campus. Never in a million years was Y/N prepared to bump into Chanhee at JFK International Airport the day before she would start a new life in South Korea dedicated to finding him.
The pair smiled at each other, taking in the sight before Y/N unexpectedly threw her arms around Chanhee, pulling him into a tight hug. After a moment of processing, Chanhee wrapped his arms around Y/N’s waist and laid his chin on her head, laughing at the gesture. They pulled back and stared into each other’s eyes just as reality cut back in.
“11:30 am flight to Seoul, South Korea at T18 is boarding, repeat, flight to Seoul at T18 is boarding now!”
Chanhee’s mind was frantic, whipping his head back down to search Y/N’s face. Surely she wouldn’t leave him this quickly after meeting? Then the thought occurred to him, that she would have to leave eventually. Her tuition and expenses must have already been paid for the year in Seoul, not to mention the plane ticket fee that would go to waste if she didn’t leave right this moment. His face grew somber, laying a hand on Y/N’s shoulder who seemed to be deep in thought.
“What are you all sad about? Did someone die?”
“You need to go, your flight is boarding...”
Y/N smiled, resting her own hand on top of Chanhee’s, “I’m not going anywhere for quite some time Chanhee.”

Forget everything Stiles ever said about Christmas cheer. He officially hated the holidays.
The (Sometimes) Happy Holidays Series
Author: Potrix
Part 1: (Not So) Silent Night
Summary: “Santa Claus, 42, looking for a sweet angel, 18+, with big or small Christmas ornaments for not so silent nights together. Tree stand available and ready. No Santa hat, no action.”Several people swivel around to glare at Stiles, but, really, he can’t be held responsible for this. Sure, a waiting room isn’t the best place to suddenly burst out laughing, but it’s totally the fault of whoever laid out the latest issue of Bella Diva. It’s not like Stiles normally makes a habit of buying and reading women’s magazines.Apart from the occasional Cosmo. The quizzes are always hilarious.
Part 2: (Annoyingly) Happy Valentine’s Day
Summary: “Welcome to the Beacon Blossom!” the saleswoman behind the counter chirps happily, and Peter watches, a little dazed, as the blinking plastic hearts attached to her headband bounce back and forth. “What can I do for you on this fine day?”Peter deposits the bouquet of red roses on the counter, and nearly drops his wallet when the woman coos—actually coos—and says, nodding her head, “A classic. Your wife will absolutely love them, I guarantee it.” She swipes Peter’s card when he hands it to her, then points it at a basket stuffed full with some of the most garishly pink teddy bears Peter’s ever had the misfortune of seeing. “Now, since today’s a special day, if you buy a bouquet and one of our Sweetheart Bears, the cheaper item is 50% off.”It takes some effort, but Peter manages to bite back his initial, sarcastic retort about the bear clashing with his furniture. Or anything else not absolutely, horrifyingly hideous, for that matter. “Just the roses, please.”
The Holly Bears A Berry Red As Any Blood
Author:  ladypigswagon
Summary: Stiles swears as the car hits another pothole dead on and he goes flying out of his seat, hardly restrained by the seat belt, smacking his head on the roof.“Language,” John says mildly, turning the page of his newspaper. Stiles grumbles, rubbing the back of his head. He can feel a lump developing.“Every year,” Stiles says, “every goddamn year, the Hales send their craziest driver to pick us up. Every year we hit every pothole and every year I get a lump on my head. In the same place! How this hasn’t damaged me permanently I don’t know?!”
Winding Roads To Flowering Fields Series
Author: Tahlruil
Part 1: Deserving Him
Summary: Scott couldn't even seem to live comfortably in his world of black and white absolutes. He could understand why the Lahey boy had broken with Derek, he supposed - his nephew was never meant to be an Alpha, and that had always been painfully obvious. What Peter didn't understand was why he'd then put himself deliberately in Scott's pack. He didn't understand why anyone would align themselves with someone so pathetic when it came to leading others. He didn't understand why new betas, humans and other supernaturals alike flocked to him, an Alpha who had no true understanding of what it meant to be pack. Peter didn't understand why Stiles - beautiful, intelligent, deadly Stiles - chose to call Scott his Alpha.'Peter has been watching Stiles for quite some time now, and he has trouble understanding why Stiles chooses to align himself with Scott. The McCall Alpha doesn't even seem to notice that his best friend is still reeling from his encounter with the Nogitsune... or that Peter is the one trying to soothe that hurt.Stiles, Peter is sure, deserves better.
Part 2: Not An Idiot
Summary: Maybe in some places an idiot could get elected Sheriff - not in a town like Beacon Hills. Dumb deputies (or just very unlucky ones) tended to die before they got the chance to try to move up the ranks. So John Stilinski isn't an idiot even if he (on occasion) chooses not to see the whole picture. Stiles is getting better and he's grateful - he just wishes that maybe it was someone else getting his kid get there.Even though it's not the smartest move, he calls a friend about it.He's not an idiot, okay, he's not. He just... needs a little help, and who better to help with a werewolf problem than an Argent?
Part 3: Ground Me
Summary: "...this is not 'guard duty', you idiot. This is pack - the way pack is supposed to be." Stiles probably should have been freaked out or maybe turned on by the way Peter pressed his nose to the crook of Stiles' neck and breathed in deep. He definitely should have felt one of those things when Peter dragged his cheek upward and then skimmed it over Stiles' jaw. He didn't though, not with what he knew about werewolves; all he felt when his wolf scented him was a sense of comfort, belonging and home. "And you don't take 'nights off' when it comes to being pack."
Part 4: Coming Home Is Something Strange
Summary: Two weeks into living under John's roof, Chris realized that all four of them were settling into a routine that was decidedly, disturbingly, domestic. He and Peter banded together in the fight to keep the Stilinskis healthy, and half the time they seemed to end up doing the grocery shopping together. So long as they only talked about things like how many apples they should get and if they needed to pick up some detergent, things between them were just fine. They'd only tried to discuss the deeper things once. It had ended in a bloody nose for Chris and a knife laced with wolfsbane sticking out of Peter's thigh. Neither Stilinski male had been happy about it. Their reactions forced Chris and Peter into another unspoken truce, and that was... okay. Maybe they didn't need to hash out everything between them. Things had been a fucking mess between their families for centuries; their best bet seemed to be to let sleeping dogs lie.
Part 5: A Surprising Visit
Summary: "No! It's not... it's nothing like that. Hi Stiles. I'm sorry for just, you know. Showing up like this? But I thought that if I called or texted you might not. Uhm. Open the door. I still should have texted. I'm sorry. It's just that you mentioned watching Mulan and I really love that movie. And we've all been being really bad friends except maybe you and I weren't friends? Because with everything that happened I feel like I never got to know you, not really. And then I guess I got caught up in trying to get to know Scott. Have I mentioned I'm sorry?""Couple times," Stiles said, blinking a few times as he tried to process what was going on. "So you came over to hang out?""You sound surprised," Kira said quietly. She looked kind of sad, which he didn't completely get but whatever. "Which means I'm a terrible friend. But!" Kira reached into her bag and pulled out a DVD - it was Mulan, and Stiles felt something warm and sort of gooey unfurl in his chest. He already had a copy, but that she had brought one meant that she really had come to watch it. She had come just to hang out with him without pack business forcing her to, and that was pretty awesome. "I'm going to try and change that."
Part 6: When I Have A Pack, Things Will Change
Summary: "Well it is a grocery store, Scott," he said without looking up from the package of steak in his hand. John had been having a difficult time at work with all those pesky disappearances and Peter thought the man deserved a treat. He had to weigh that against the knowledge that Stiles would be upset, however, which had him debating if he shouldn't grab the 'extra lean' cut instead of going with the regular kind of lean. "Even us deviously evil masterminds must eat and the takeout in this town is deplorable."Peter heard a subsonic growl leave McCall's throat and let himself smirk with satisfaction. Frustrating the so-called Alpha was different than pissing him off, surely...

Ever.
Part 2: En Garde
Summary: Usually it was the third date when things went to hell for Stiles. Peter was an off-the-scales out-of-his-league level of hot, and he was also smart, accomplished and older. What did he see in a spaz like Stiles?
Part 3: Transformation
Summary: Now was not the time to lose his focus as the Shifter Criminal Investigative Service was in the midst of a big investigation regarding a new series of seemingly connected homicides. Unfortunately his wolf, and his human side for that matter, wanted to see Stiles and make sure the younger man was okay.
Part 4: Unfettered
Summary: “It’s what? You obviously don’t want me in Beacon Hills. Is it that you think your dad will disapprove of me because of our age difference, your alpha will disapprove of me because I’m not good enough, you don’t want to be seen with a werewolf or what exactly is the issue here?” Peter’s tone was as bland as the expression on his face. The more upset Peter became, the more dispassionate he appeared. Not good. It was time for damage control. Check that; it was time for the truth. Stiles gathered his courage. “I don’t want you to see me the way everyone in Beacon Hills does. There, are you happy?”
Black Fire

When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Escalate The Problem

Too bad: Don’t want drama, don’t be a jackass. Same for everyone on the internet.
0:24 No no, there’s a ton of drama about hate being passed off as criticism. Actual critics of RWBY have gotten off scott free and the only ones being affected are you assholes who try to sell your snakeoil opinions as fact and critics who don’t want to be associated with you. And quite frankly: You deserve for the shit you spew.
0:34 Rant huh? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBUJ3RrkZhU) Not even a minute...and a good third of that was Miles giving people credit and leniancy. Your video is more of a rant than his, complete with whiny bitching and rambling.
0:46 No, Lord Fatass whined that he was getting called out. That isn’t a response anymore than...well, any response he makes to anyone who doesn’t agree with him.
0:55 Lord fatass has a Patreon and all he does is bullshit all the damn time about RWBY. Fuck, you even compare yourself to a cult leader in that screenshot. Cults are defined by being irrational and rabid with the leader encouraging such behavior. I don’t care what you say your relationship with RWBY is: Lord Fatass calls himself a fan. Your ACTIONS are what I care about you DEFINITELY act like a cult leader.
1:01 Not helping your case that you sound pissed about a video essentially saying ‘‘don’t hate on the creators.”
1:20 Oh, someone’s being disingenuous! Miles never discredited the fandom as a whole or even critics as a whole. He just said ‘I don’t like know it alls and haters.’ You just said that because if you told the truth, no one would listen to you.
1:26 Bull fucking shit. Critics are revered in fandoms and it’s usually the CREATORS that are given a bad name. A critic can shrug off criticism and ignore their own flaws and continue making the same mistake over and over again while if a creator so much as thinks about not gulping down shit, they’re seen as egotistical. You’re lying.
1:30 Lord Fatass literally lies about the show numerous times in his ‘reviews’ and you will outright lose your shit if someone doesn’t call Volumes 3-5 shit. Pretty safe to assume you hate RWBY.
1:34 Yes. And it is literally every single point I’ve figured out on my own just said worse mixed in with personal gripes trying to be passed off as criticism. It just feels like you looked up what other people said and parroted it back to disguise your bullshit as criticism.
1:48 Your Volume 5 review was you rambling about fight scenes. That’s it. You apparently have the patience of a goldfish. P.S. You are literally contradicting what you did in the video you linked because you flipped your shit at people who were saying they liked Volume 5. You’re only doing this to try and build credit.
2:04 So basically, let people be irredeemable assholes, making personal attacks on creators until said creators become so desensitized to criticism due to the abuse they suffered they stop trying to improve because you’re shit at your job and can’t handle being professional in any way. Here’s another saying: “Git Gud.”
2:08 Yes and let’s here about all those dirty commies and how ugly and nasty they are while we’re doing propaganda.
2:16 And flat earthers say that a round Earth doesn’t exist either. Doesn’t make it make it true!
2:25 But if you ordered a steak that was suppose to be undercooked or went to a place that only served undercooked steaks: You’re wrong for bitching about it. Hey look, I broke your lengthy analogy in it’s infancy in under two seconds. Should say something about your critical thinking skills.
2:29 yes but a media student would know WHY it sucked on an objective level while you just pass off subjective as fuck opinions are objective reasons why a show sucks. A chief would be able to know why something sucks anbd why it sucks for being that particular meal while a normal customer would bitch and moan because they ordered a dish and they didn’t like it. Also, this has nothing to do with constructive criticism and is just kind of out of place. Plus your analogy was kind of...short to be honest. You should have looked over your script before writing and thought about it. ... Hey look, I just CONSTRUCTIVELY criticized you. And all it took was NOT being a complete douchebag. Almost as though your skill in critiquing has next to nothing to do with constructive criticism and is instead about HOW you go about criticizing.
2:42 Cept this analogy doesn’t work either. PLENTY of people make calm, constructive reviews of the show, both positive and negative, explaining why the show does/doesn’t work. While the angry reviews basically boil down to ‘this Volume wasn’t made for ME.” So whose more right? The people who can explain why the dish does/doesn’t work as the type of dish it is or the people bitching about the type of dish it is or the flavor of the dish not being a flavor they like?
2:46 Cept they CHOOSE to waste their time and the show is FREE. You only pay to see it early, not to view the show. This is like bitching about mayo being on a sandwitch that was said to have mayo on it and the sandwitch was FREE. I broke that analogy by just looking at it funny.
2:50 Yeah and then they assault the chiefs, sending them hatemail and death threats, attempting to ruin their business through fake controversies, invoking the memory of the dead friend who made the recipe and general act as though they fed them PEOPLE. All while complain about how the dish was too sour when it was advertised as sour. You just keep getting worse and worse at this.
3:03 While the reviews say there were bugs in it (which there wasn’t), saying the dish gave people food poisoning (which it didn’t), the reviwers tried assaulting the chief for using a certain ingreident to the point he doesn’t want to cook and instead of the morning news, it was a recording of the chief just relieving stress with friends. Now you sound like a fucking sociopath.
3:09 I mean, Gordon Ramsey actually knows what eh is saying, in the British version of the show Gordon is a lot nicer and in turn is more well respected, Gordon actually tries to help and encourage the chiefs instead of belittling them and Gordon doesn’t try to force his way of cooking down their throats while attempting to make them quit cooking.
... Now YOU sound like one of those chiefs from Kitchen Nightmares.
3:18 No, you’re going to assault the chief and essentially harass him into becoming your slave. I do not care how pissed you are: You ‘critics’ of RWBY have used up all my sympathy for you. You have to now EARN it and boy oh howdy will it be a HERCULEAN task for that to happen.
3:26 And yet I can, despite not being an animator myself. Also, if you can’t tell what is wrong with a dish then why should the chief listen to you when you could just be a whiny bitch? Also also: Miles is a WRITER and by virtue of making a script for this video, you are a writer. You have no excuses.
And finally: that’s actually a rather adept analogy with Yelp. Because yelp is FULL of people who will us either status as ‘critics’ to harass and bully restaurants into doing what they want. You wanna know what you are? You’re Cartman from the episode “You’re not Yelping!” And we all know how THAT ended (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDlR_ccnZww)/ Fuck, I’ll make a RWDE version after this.
3:35 funny because that isn’t what constructive criticism is because it’s more akin to ‘this is how you should do this for these reasons’ and what he described is what YOU people do.
3:39 ... But you can help them. You’re just too lazy.
3:51 But you guys DON’T and in fact when people bring evidence of YOUR fuck ups, you’ll whine and moan and ignore it. See, that’s the biggest irony here. Miles is essentially being YOUR critic and you are acting EXACTLY as you perceive him to be. It’s like if a student came to teacher for help and all the teacher did was scream in his face and slap him.
4:03 But you will call the steak shit by saying it was cooked exactly as advertised and you didn’t want that despite nit letting them know otherwise. Also the steak was free.
4:08 And I can say you’re full of shit. Doesn’t make either one of us right. Except i can say WHY you’re full of shit and you can’t explain jackshit.
4:19 No but they’d give it a fair chance and move on if they don’t like it for personal reasons. Now forcing your opinion onto everyone else: THAT’S a hater move.
4:21 No you’re not. Your actions say otherwise.
4:28 You’re not the audience. You’ve made that abundantly clear. You’re like a chicken fan bitching about how a steak doesn’t taste like chicken.
4:37 Name one person and no, Shane doesn’t count. And even then, Shane even admits he was probably being biased.
4:42 Well, when you blow things out of proportion to ATTACK Miles, that would be the case...except if anything, they’re toning it down.
4:54 That’s fucking rich. Not only was Miles NOT talking about critics in general but HE was defending himself from YOU PEOPLE. And he’s ONE person when you’re fucking DOZENS.
5:06 And Miles shouldn’t have to grovel and beg for forgiveness. This is just your shit coming back at you. I do not care.
5:13 Cept that;s your JOB as a critic. Don't wanna do it? Stop calling yourself a critic.
5:22 yet here you are, fearmongering that Miles is gonna annihilate your poor defenseless critics in an age where critics are treated as infallible gods.
5:32 ... So you’re basically affirming what Miles said, that you don’t know what you are talking about. ... You just beat yourself.
5:43 Says the man who says ‘the customer is always right’ unironically.
5:51 ... Miles outright hates working on RWBY because of you. He is scared shitless of what people will do to him if Jaune gets any scenes. A Camp Camp blog got mistaken for Miles and was harassed to the point of leaving because of it. I’ve seen Miles’ life being threatened on this very site. ... Fuck you.
6:11 Yet when that happens for hating on RWBY and making Miles’ life a living hell, it’s A-Okay! ... You’re just fucking salty people aren’t listening to your shit and calling you out.
6:21 This is gonna be GOOD.
6:25 Cept he is in the UK and actually reviews food instead of screaming. Hell, even in kitchen nightmares he doesn’t insult anyone. That’s just Hell’s Kitchen, which is basically cooking Jerry Springer. Congratsm you're Jerry Springer.
6:36 Cept you gave the hatedom every fucking excuse to hate on Miles and make his life hell while parroting their points while also categorizing anyone who disagrees with you a fanboy.
6:52 ‘I’m not calling you out! ... But here's me calling you out indirectly like a pussy!’
6:57 And guess what? Most of RT’s fans have heard ENOUGH of YOU. And unlike YOU, they have an actual reason while you just wanna protect your ego.
My final thoughts? I don’t care how tired you are of it, you fucking deserve every last bit of this. You wanna be a total jackass? FIne, you can get hate for it Wanna be a hypocrite? Get hate for it. Wanna encourage harassment and hatred? Get fucking hate for it.
I do not care. You have lost ALL sympathy from me.

Fishbowl
Fishbowl
By Tim Carroll
I
“Wanna know a secret?”  Persephone asked in a voice that was too loud for anyone but her to call it whispering.
Margaret shrugged.  She felt that Persephone’s secrets were invariably either things that everyone already knew or things that she had just made up to feel special.  She looked over to see that Persephone was still staring at her expectantly.
“Fine,” Margaret whispered back, using actual whispers.
“Last night my grandma told me that the sky wasn’t always cracked.”
Margaret looked up at the jagged web of fractures that stretched across the western plate-glass horizon of Dome 58.  Margaret shook her head, “Your grandma doesn’t know your name half the time.  I think she might have—”
“No!” Persephone squealed, before remembering she was supposed to be whispering. “She said that one day a long time ago there was a loud bang.  She said that when she first saw the cracks they looked like a spider web and she was scared that there would be a giant spider who lived there and wanted to eat her!”
Margaret shrugged, but Persephone continued in her non-whispery whisper, “She said everyone was scared, but then they weren’t allowed to talk about it.  The people at her school said that it was all normal and they whacked kids for discussing it.  And eventually everyone forgot that it wasn’t always there.”
Margaret smiled at Persephone.  She had stopped scowling at her a long time ago-- it was too likely to make her cry. “That’s quite a story Pers.” Margaret replied causing Persephone to beam, “Now come on, we’re late to pick up our rations.”
II
It seemed like every aspect of the office of the director, from the old world paintings that covered the walls to the tapestry behind the desk, had been designed to awe visitors into a state of submission.  Simply walking through the door, Surveyor Peter Card felt like he had left behind the administrative offices of Dome 58’s town hall and stepped into another world.  A world that was run by the man sitting behind the desk, casually thumbing through an old world book – Director Edward Thornton.
Peter approached the desk slowly, taking the time to admire the room’s centerpiece: A man-sized scale replica of Dome 58.
Peter figured that several years’ worth of art budget had gone into making the model.  Every detail had been perfectly attended to: tiny mothers walking to the birthing center, tiny children marching in double file lines behind the schools, and even a gaggle of people gathered outside the ration stations.  Somehow, the sculptors had even chiseled a perfect replica of the jagged crack across the western sky.
Peter felt a shiver run down his spine as he looked at the crack.  If it were only a few millimeters deeper.
Director Thornton flashed a grin at Peter as he approached, not breaking eye contact, the director grabbed the book off his desk and put it away on a small mahogany bookshelf.   Peter had never seen so many paper books outside of a museum or a picture of the old world.  Then the director got out of his chair and walked over to the surveyor.
“Pete, how’re you doing?” he chuckled, clapping Peter on the back, “Take a seat.”
Peter tried not to flinch.  He wondered if Director Thornton was this liberal with back pats and nicknames to everyone he called into his office.  He must be. Or maybe Peter truly was as special as Director Thornton claimed.
“Sir,” Peter began, as he pulled out the seat in front of the desk “Have you—”
“Slow down,” Thornton smiled, “Would you like a drink first?  Some water?  Tea?”
Peter gulped, “No, sir.  Thank you, sir.  If it’s all the same to you--”
“Enough with this ‘sir,’” Director Thornton interrupted, as he sat down on the imposing chair behind the desk, “I get enough of sir.  Call me Ed.”
Peter swallowed again. “Okay… Ed.” Peter paused and, sensing no impending interruption, continued, “Have you had the time to review my report?”
The director tapped the black top of his desk, revealing it to be one massive touchscreen.  Almost instantly, every chart, figure, and equation detailed in Peter’s 30-odd page report appeared on the surface.  “Very impressive work, Pete.” Thornton mused, “I knew you were the right man for the job. That said, are you positive of your conclusions?”
Peter nodded. “I would bet my life on them.  The cracks are not as stable as they appear and are growing at a rate of roughly 2 centimeters a year.  You told me that decontamination was causing the Earth’s atmosphere to rise in temperature. If this is true, and assuming that the temperature will continue to increase at a constant rate, additional thermal stress will be placed upon the dome, causing the rate of fracture to increase exponentially.   There’s too many unknowns for an exact prediction, especially since perfect measurement of the conditions outside the dome is impossible, but you’re looking at a 60% chance that the dome will be breached in the next forty years.”
Director Thornton nodded, his smile drifting away, “Your report also says that there is roughly a twelve percent chance of no breach occurring in the next hundred years.”
“Yes, but considering the low probability of that scenario, I think we would be far safer ignoring it.  I was hoping we could use this meeting to discuss exactly how repair would be implemented.  I would be more than happy assisting whatever team you choose for the job.  Seeing as the rate of fracture is unpredictable, I think we should try and start as soon as possible.”
“Let me stop you there, Pete.” Director Thornton said, as he jabbed his finger at the section labeled Repair Costs.   “Pete, don’t take this the wrong way.  I consider you a friend, and you’re obviously the best engineer we have here, but it’s clear you’re not a budgeter.  And that’s not your fault.”
“Sir…, I mean, Ed.  I don’t understand.  This is the dome we’re talking about, I don’t think we can take half measures. ”
“Pete, looking at your report you seem to suggest we should use close to the entirety of Dome 59’s stock of formaldehyde in order to synthesize this Cy… Cyano…”  Director Thornton fumbled on the word,
“Cyanoacryllate,” Pete finished, “It’s a type of glue. One that should be able to hold the dome together until decontamination is done.”
“Pete, your heart, and much more importantly, your brain, are both in the right place here.  But I can’t authorize using the entirety of our formaldehyde supplies.  We need that for several other construction projects as well as producing a variety of medications.  You’re going to need to bring these costs down.”
“Director, I have brought those costs down.  Frankly, our stores are insufficient for the type of more permanent repairs we should be doing.  The Cyanoacryllate we have will be sufficient for only repairs of the most major cracks. There’s still going to be a non-negligible rate of fracture.”
The Director shook his head, “I don’t know what to tell you Pete, you’re going to have to find a way to make it work.”
Before Peter could protest, there was a loud knock on the door and a woman poked her head in. “Director Thornton, your next meeting is here.”
“Give me a minute, Martha.”  Director Thornton shouted, before turning his gaze back to Peter. “Pete, I want to be on your side here, but I just can’t authorize that kind of expenditure, you’re going to have to make do with what we have. I have complete faith in you.”
III
The doctors called it Constrained Habitat Induced Insanity.  Those who were less sensitive called it “Domentia.”
Due to structural constraints, it had been much easier for the failing governments of Earth to construct hundreds of smaller domes before the Great Contamination instead of a few larger ones.   As a result, dome residents would spend their lives surrounded by the same 2,000 or so people in the same 10 or so mile radius.  For most domers, that was good enough.  But for some, the monotony was maddening.
Allison’s birth mother had had Domentia.  Her mother had stayed up late at night, rocking herself to sleep, and staring at the horizon as though a creature might come out of the inky blackness and take her far away.  Even now, years after she’d been taken to the sanitarium, Allison could still hear the screaming rants in the back of her mind.
It was those same screaming rants that had driven Allison to pursue a job in the office of communications.  In this office, Allison knew she was never truly alone.  Everywhere else in Dome 58, interdome communication was strictly forbidden. But from her desk, Allison could send text-based messages to communicators in over a dozen other domes, brokering trade deals and discussing what life was like over a hundred miles of radioactive desert away.
Allison smiled as she reflected on an interesting tidbit she had learned this morning. Apparently, the director of Dome 42 was trying to legalize bigamous family units so that he could take his mistress as a second wife.  Allison was typing a reply to her friend in Dome 42, when she heard a knock on the steel door behind her.
“Come in,” she shouted, without turning away from her desk. Reflected on her computer screen, Allison could see a blond-haired boyish face poking through the doorway.
“Hey, Ally,” the man said, “was wondering if you’d had your lunch yet.”
“Hey, John.” Allison replied, “I’m busy today.  Decided I would save my midday rations for a bigger dinner. You peacekeepers haven’t made that illegal have you?”
“Not yet,” John replied, sauntering into the room, “But it could be argued that you working yourself to death is a seditious act against the office of communications, seeing as they’d never get on without you.”
“Wow,” Allison whistled, “You give a peacekeeper a gun and suddenly he’ll look for any excuse to arrest someone.”  She gestured to the conspicuous holster on John’s hip, a sign that he’d graduated the academy with flying colors.
“Hey,” John chuckled, “First of all it’s not a gun…”
“Really?” Allison asked, eyeing the pistol-shaped device, “It looks like a gun from here.”
“It’s a dart launcher.” John clarified, “Bullets cause too much collateral damage and are too inconsistent.  A touch of one of these neurotoxin darts and a criminal will be dead in a few seconds.”
“Doesn’t that strike you as a little risky?” Allison asked, “Isn’t a few seconds long enough for someone to pull a trigger of their own?”
“That’s why they only give dart launchers to peacekeepers and not to every person who wants to steal some rations.  Speaking of which, you sure you don’t have time for a bite?”
Allison shook her head, “Sorry, babe.  I’m going to be communicating with Dome 78 in a few minutes.  Their communicator is a friend actually, and I’m negotiating an important trade deal with him.”
“Oh really, what are they sending to us?”
“Fertilizer,” Allison replied, turning back to her keyboard, “and if you want there to be a steady supply of vegetables in your rations for years to come, chances are you’re going to want me to have this conversation.”
“Shame,” John said, as he walked out of the room, “Maybe next time.”
“Maybe,” Allison replied, as she flexed her fingers and got back to work.
IV
Director Thornton whistled a soft tune to himself as he walked out of the town controller office for the evening.
Without warning, he heard the sound of someone charging at him from behind. With a practiced casual air, he reached into his jacket and fingered the remote he kept inside it.  With a single button press, a team of security officers would be at his location within two minutes.
A second before he squeezed the remote, he turned to see that his would-be attacker was none other than Peter Card, the surveyor.
“Pete!” He said, forcing a smile as he moved his hand out of his jacket pocket, “What are you doing here so late?”
“Sir…” Pete panted, “I had… an idea for the situation.”
Director Thornton checked for anyone who might be listening before leaning in. “I think this is a very serious matter to discuss in a public place.”
Pete turned his head to the left and right before craning his head in for a whisper, “I think I know a solution, and I just need you to set me up with someone discreet from the office of communications.”
Ed swallowed hard. “And why would you need that?”
“We may have finite formaldehyde stores, but there certainly are other domes with their own.  Or possibly even the means of producing more.  I’m not sure what we have to trade but if you give me—”
“Pete. Pete. Pete.” Director Thornton interrupted, “We’re supposed to be a self-sufficient community.  We can’t be asking other domes for their crucial supplies.”
“Sir, we already participate in goods exchanges with at least a half-dozen other domes.  Certainly there are some luxuries we could offer them in exchange for formaldehyde. Even a 20% increase in our stores would vastly improve our long term structural integrity.”
“Pete.” Director Thornton said sternly, “I told you to find a way to make it work.  You’re going to need to find a way to repair the breach with the stores you have.”
           “But sir…”
“I’m sorry, Pete. I have to go.” The director said as he walked towards the waiting car, “If you wish to have another meeting, schedule it with my secretary.”
V
Margaret stared at the half-written report on her desk and sighed.  It was supposed to be two written pages about why Dome 58 – with its job of maintaining the human population after the Great Contamination - was critically important, and what she as a citizen could do to help ensure that that mission was completed.  Personally, she’d always wished she had been born into one of the decontamination domes so she could actually help make the Earth livable again, but instead she was stuck here waiting for… nothing.
She heard the sound of footsteps behind her and turned to see her mom carrying a plate of beef-flavor rations over.  Her mom flashed a smile, “How’s the report coming, pearl?”
“Not too well.”  Margaret replied, “I just think there’s only so much I can do to help Dome 58.”
“Well there’s a lot you can do, hon.” Her mother replied, “Did you mention that you could volunteer as a birthmother,” she said gesturing to her growing belly.
Margaret nodded, though the idea of carrying a tiny baby inside her tummy always somewhat scared her. What if it bit on something important?
Margaret shook her head, and looked at her mother, “Hey, mom, can I ask you a weird question.”
           “What is it, baby?”
Margaret turned to look at her mother, “Did the sky always have a big crack in it?”
“Of course, pearl, why would you ask such a silly question?”
“It’s just, Persephone said something today—”
“That girl says all kinds of silly things.  Between you and me, I don’t think the teachers are doing a very good job with her.  Radical ideas like hers are what got Earth into this mess.”
           “Yeah…” Margaret said, “I thought so…”
“Anyway, let me know if you need any more help.” Her mother smiled, “You’re a smart girl.  I’m sure you’ll figure everything out.”
VI
John awoke to the sound of faint tapping beside him. His eyes peeked open, and he looked over at Allison, the curve of her back silhouetted by the light of the tablet on her lap.
“Ally,” he mumbled, as he moved closer to her.
“Go back to sleep,” she said patting him on the head,
           “You first,” he teased.
Allison smiled, and resumed scrolling on her tablet.
“If you have so much work you’re doing it past midnight, you can probably tell your superiors. You’d at least qualify for more rations.”
“Not work,” she shook her head, “Not exactly.”
John yawned loudly.  “And it can’t wait for the morning?”
“I was talking to Claude from Dome 42 this morning.”
           “Your friend?” John asked.
“I thought he was, but I referenced some of our old jokes today and he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about.”
“Sorry, babe.” John yawned, leaning back on his pillow. “I don’t think everyone has your memory.”
“I think it’s more than him being forgetful.  I’m looking back at our chat logs. Sometimes he seems like a completely different person.”
“Babe, I… respect you… a lot.” John replied, “but maybe we can discuss this in the morning?”
Allison sighed, set down her tablet, and rested her head on John’s chest. “Fine, we’ll talk in the morning.”
John opened his mouth to reply, but he was asleep before any words came out.
VII
Allison – Dome 58 Communicator has signed on. [12:58:14]
Rebecca – Dome 46 Communicator has signed on.  [1:01:15]
Allison 58: This is Allison Dome 58. Do you read me? [1:02:36]
Rebecca 46: This is Rebecca Dome 46. I read you Allison. [1:02:52]
Allison 58: Security Check, what is your favorite color? [1:03:36]
Rebecca 46: What? [1:05:02]
Allison 58: We have had a problem with security recently.  [1:05:13]
Allison 58: Asking personal questions to confirm identity [1:05:23]
Allison 58: What is your favorite color? [1:05:58]
Allison 58: Did you not tell me this during our communication two weeks ago? [1:06:44]
Rebecca 46: Oh, right. [1:06:56]
Rebecca 46:  Rebecca Purple.  Like my name. [1:10:11]
Allison 58: Why the delay? [1:10:31]
Rebecca 46: Apologies. My boss walked in and had a question for me. [1:11:52]
Rebecca 46: She does not remember approving a security check. [1:12:08]
Rebecca 46:  So can we please talk about the trade? [1:12:33]
Allison 58: Sure, just one more question.  Where did you meet your husband? [1:12:59]
Allison 58:  Rebecca? [1:15:04]
Rebecca 46: My apologies. Boss came in again. There’s been an incident.  Will get back to you about my husband soon.  [1:17:03]
Allison reclined back in her chair, massaging her temples.  Eight months ago, Rebecca from Dome 46 had adamantly insisted that she had not and would never marry.
VIII
Director Thornton reclined back in his bathtub, scrolling through a briefing on his tablet. Bathtubs were technically a luxury that was only afforded to families of five or greater. But then again, if the position of Director didn’t have any benefits, Edward seriously doubted that anyone would apply for it.
Suddenly there was a pounding at the bathroom door. Director Thornton’s head jerked back, and nearly collided with the tile wall.  Steadying himself, he reached for his bathrobe.
“Martha?” He asked.  It wasn’t truly a question.  His secretary was the only other person with a key, and Thornton sincerely doubted anyone would be foolish enough to rob the home of the director. Clad in his royal blue bathrobe, Thornton opened the door.  Martha was standing on the other side, holding a pair of caffeine pills in one hand and a hanger with a suit dangling from it on the other.
She looked at him sternly.  “We have a situation.”
 X
Clad in black, Allison snuck through the bushes outside the office of the communicator.  She’d spent the past week-and-a-half staking out the building and watching the patterns of the guards’ movements.  Granted, the term ‘guards’ might have been a little generous.  Half of the night watch were asleep, and a third more spent the night either reading or playing games on their tablets.
Before she had left work six hours ago, Allison had left one of the first floor bathroom windows open a crack.  Resting her back against the wall, she wormed her fingers into that small crack and lifted the window to create an Allison-sized opening.  Once she was satisfied, she slid into that egress and closed the window behind her.
Allison crept to the bathroom door and opened it a fraction of an inch. She saw the lone night watchman walking about twenty meters in front of her. Gritting her teeth, she closed the door and counted to thirty.  When she reopened it, he was gone.
With each step she reminded herself not to sprint. Her heart was pounding and she could feel the sweat pooling under her black gloves.  This was her last chance to turn back. No, she told herself, I need to be here. I need to KNOW.
Allison made her way to the staircase and began descending until she reached the steel door to sub-level four.    She pulled out an ID card she had swiped from her boss’s desk when he hadn’t been looking and waved it in front of the scanner.  A half-second later, the red light turned to green.  With a beep and a mechanical hiss, the door swung open.
Allison crept inside and let out a long exhale, there wouldn’t be any guards in this room, so she could take her time.
This room was supposed to be empty.  It was meant as an unloading dock for the ships that came in from other domes.    Dome 58 hadn’t received a trade in over a week, and yet the room was stacked floor to ceiling with crates.  Allison ran to a stack of crates labeled “Dome 75” and lifted the lid.  It was filled to the brim with medical supplies that she had negotiated a trade for on that very morning.
Allison dragged her gloved forefinger across the top box.  There was a thin layer of dust.
Allison spent the next half hour searching the room. All of the mechanisms for opening the docking bay to the outside air had been disabled and were covered in dust.  Even if there had been space for a trading ship to dock, there was no way for it to get in.
Not that Dome 58 needed any supplies. All the trade goods she had negotiated for in the past month were already here.
Had always been here, she realized.   All of the seemingly random things her supervisors had told her to ask for, hadn’t been random at all. They were planned out to create the illusion of trade with other domes.  Other domes that might not even exist.
Allison shivered.  For the first time in her life, she felt alone.
XI
Margaret walked to the education center in a sleep-deprived daze.  She and her mother had been up two hours past curfew the previous night writing a list of ways she could benefit Dome 58 by stepping up as a birth mother.  Her mother had insisted that it wasn’t really lying; Margaret would feel that way eventually.  She just didn’t yet.
Half-asleep, Margaret nearly walked directly into Persephone, stopping a second before she smashed into her classmate.
“Sorry,” Margaret mumbled, “I didn’t—” Margaret gasped. One of Persephone’s teeth was chipped, and there was a large cut under her right eye.
           “What happened to you?”
           “I…” Persephone stuttered. “I tripped.”
“Are you okay? Should you even—”
“I’m fine,” Persephone nearly shouted, “It’s just I need you to know something.”
           “What?”
“All that stuff about the Dome yesterday…”
Margaret nodded, “About how the sky wasn’t always cracked?”
Persephone seemed to flinch at the words.  “I made it all up.” Persephone whispered, really whispered “It’s always been cracked.”  A tear rolled down her cheek. “Don’t tell anyone anything else. You might get in trouble.”
“Sure, Pers.” Margaret nodded, as she rested a hand on her classmate’s back, “It’s fine. I never really believed you anyway.”
XII
John sat on the bench in Pleasant Park and stared up at the dome.  The bench used to be his and Allison’s bench.  But John was beginning to doubt whether he and Allison were even a… well whatever they had been.  The two of them hadn’t shared a meal, much less spent a night together, in the past couple weeks.
John sighed and kicked a rations wrapper absentmindedly.  He’d been considering talking to her about filing for cohabitation, but now…
John crushed the empty paper cup in his hand and threw it at the nearby trashcan, missing the rim by nearly a foot. He considered getting up to pick up the trash when the radio on his hip sprang to life.
“Attention all units!” The metallic voice squeaked, “This is a code 4.  Is anyone in Rim Sector 6!”
John pushed away thoughts of Allison and grabbed the receiver.   “This is Peacekeeper Mulligan, I’m in Pleasant Park. What’s the trouble?”
“Roger Peacekeeper Mulligan.   An unknown figure has been spotted walking along the dome catwalks.” The voice barked, “Unclear what he is doing up there.  Investigate and report immediately.  This is a priority one objective.”
“Copy.” John replied, as he pushed himself to his feet and began jogging to the cast-iron catwalks that butted up against the glass dome that surrounded the community.
In theory, no one was supposed to go up there without passing a pair of guards, and the presence of a man on those catwalks represented a massive threat to the community.  In practice.  John was willing to bet several weeks’ worth of extra rations that a guard – equal parts bored and stupid – wanted to see the view during his coffee break and forgot to clear it with a supervisor.
Ten minutes later, John arrived at the catwalk access station.  John knocked twice on the steel door before electing to let himself in.
“Hello, my name is Peacekeeper Mullig---“ John stopped midsentence, and swore as he reached for his radio.
“This is Peacekeeper Mulligan!” John barked into his radio, as he fumbled to check the two unconscious guards for a pulse,  “I’m at catwalk access station R,  both guards have sustained head injuries.  Both unconscious.  Requesting immediate medical support.  Requesting immediate backup!”
For ten seconds that stretched into an eternity there was only silence.
“This is Peacekeeper Mulligan!” John repeated, “I am at catwalk access station R—“
“We hear you Peacekeeper Mulligan!”  The voice on the other end of the line interrupted, “Backup and medical are on route!  Apprehend the figure on the catwalk.  Deadly force authorized.  Do you copy?”
John swallowed a mouthful of air down his suddenly dry throat. “Deadly force authorized,” wasn’t a phrase he had ever actually expected to hear on the job.  Let alone directed at him.
           “Peacekeeper Mulligan.  Do you—“
“I copy,” John replied as grabbed the dartgun from the holster on his waist and began climbing the uncomfortably titled steel stairs that led up to the side of the Dome.   After going up three stories, John saw a figure.   “Mystery man spotted.” John panted into his radio, “Engaging now.”
           “Roger, Peacekeeper Mulligan!”
With the dartgun clutched in his sweat-slick hands, John approached the dark figure.  His boots clacked on the metal catwalk with each step, but the suspect didn’t seem to notice until John was only about a half a dozen meters away. The man appeared to be fiddling with a device that was affixed to the glass wall of the dome.  John was no expert, but it looked uncomfortably like an explosive.
“Suspect!” John shouted, “You are in violation of Dome 58 code.  Step away from the device and surrender yourself!”
The man turned and looked at John.
           John gasped.  “Allison?”
           “John…” Allison replied, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know how to tell you…”
“What the hell are you doing, Ally.  This isn’t like you.  What is that machine.”
“It’s not a machine, John.” Allison said, holding up a detonator, “It’s a bomb.”
“Good lord, Ally.” John replied, “What the hell will this accomplish?”
“There aren’t any other domes, John.”
John tilted his head to the side, “What?”
“The other domes, they’re all lies.  They don’t exist.  All the ‘clean-up domes’ we learned about in school were made up.”
“Then why blow up this dome?” John shouted, “This one is real!”  John took a step forward.
“Don’t come any closer,” Allison shouted, holding up the detonator. “Don’t you get it, John? Everything is a lie. There aren’t any heroes out there cleaning the earth.  All the sacrifices we make, all the rationing, all the forced families. It’s all for nothing!  There will never be a clean earth!  We are just living to die!”
“Allison, please, come home!” John pleaded, “We can go home!”            “We’re not people, John…” Allison replied, tightening her grip, “We’re… guppies… guppies in a fishbowl!  Living for nothing!”
           “Allison…” John pleaded
“I can’t live like this!” Allison sobbed, “I can’t live knowing that it’s all pointless!”
“But I can, John replied, “Other people can.
“They’ve…” Allison sobbed, “They’ve broken you. All of us. They’ve made us think it’s okay to live in submission.  They’ve played god with our lives.  We’re not even people John!  My mother was right!”
“Your mother was nuts!” John shouted,
“NO, John…” Allison said, suddenly quiet. “She was sane.  And now I am too…”
“Allison, please!” John said, lifting his gun, “Don’t make me do this.”
“I need to do this, John.” Allison sobbed, as she held up the detonator.
“NO!” John screamed, as he squeezed down on the trigger.  A sharp hiss of air brushed against his hand as a trio of darts sped into Allison’s stomach.   Allison stumbled backward, her face twisting as the neurotoxin coursed through her system.
And then, with a final breath, she pushed the button.
XIII
Even now, through the swelling and blood in his eyes, the office of the director still looked dazzling to Peter.  The two men, practically towers of muscle, standing beside him each held one of his arms in a stranglehold.  The two of them nodded reverentially as Director Thornton entered the room.
“Pete, Pete, Pete…” The director tsked, “I thought we were friends.”
“Do you lie to the faces of all your friends?” Pete asked, spitting equal parts saliva and blood onto the carpet.
“I do, in fact.”  Director Thornton responded, “It’s the price I pay for being director.”
“Yeah, you sound real broken up about it.”
“I have learned to cope,” Director Thornton responded as he poured himself a drink. “With the lies, the secrets.  And speaking of secrets.” The director took a long sip, “We let you in on a major secret when we told you the truth about the crack in the dome.  And now my men are telling me that you broke into the office of communications.  We trusted you, Pete.  And to abuse that trust…”
“You didn’t trust me.”  Peter snapped, “You lied to me – to everyone – from birth.  You think telling me one truth makes up for that?”  Peter paused to catch his breath, “Was it even one truth? How did the dome really break?”
Director Thornton sighed, “I supposed there’s no point in secrets, now.  Roughly seventy-five years ago, a terrorist named Allison Graham detonated a bomb while standing on the catwalks only a few meters away from the glass.  The dome held, obviously.  If it hadn’t, I doubt any of us would be here now.”
           “Why’d she do it?”
“According to the officer at the scene, she’d leaned the truth about all the other domes that we had been in contact with.  The truth that I have been tasked with keeping from both you and the rest of the citizens of my dome.”
“So, what is the truth?”  Peter asked, “Why aren’t they talking to us?’
Director Thornton shook his head, “One hundred and forty years ago – roughly a quarter of a century after the great contamination - we actually were in contact with all the other domes.  And we truly did trade supplies with them.  However, for reasons unknown, the domes around us starting going dark, stopped sending supplies and communications.  Over the course of about two weeks, we lost contact with every other dome.”
If the two men holding Peter’s arms were surprised by this information in any way, they didn’t show it.  Peter looked at their impassive faces, and then back to the director.  “What happened to the other domes?”
Director Thornton took another long sip of his brandy and shook his head. “We have no idea.  The domes went dark so suddenly that we didn’t have any time to do anything other than speculate. The last few domes we were in contact with didn’t seem to know any more than we did.”
“We have ships though.”  Peter responded, “Why didn’t we send them out to investigate?            “Why do you assume we didn’t?”  The director asked, “We sent out two ships.  One to Dome 75, one to Dome 46.  Those vessels never came back.  Seeing as are last few ships are irreplaceable assets, my predecessors decided to call off the search instead of risking more of them.  For the sake of preventing mass panic, we’ve kept this information from the general public.  However, the leaders of Dome 58 have spent the last century under the assumption that we are the single last surviving dome.”
Peter resisted the urge to vomit.  “But Dome 58’s not a decontamination dome.  We have none of the tools to purify the planet’s air or water.  That means…”
“Yes,” Director Thornton responded, “If we truly are the last surviving Dome, then there is no one else who has the tools or knowledge necessary to restore the Earth to its previous state..”
“But if that’s the case… if we’re all that’s left… then you need to fix the cracks”  Pete pleaded, “You need my plan.”
“You are correct, your plan for fixing the dome is absolutely necessary. More than you could have ever known.”  The director sighed and finished off his drink,  “However, you are not necessary.  Quite the opposite in fact.”  Director Thornton slid open a nearly invisible compartment in a bookshelf and withdrew a peacekeeper dartgun. “Thank you for your designs, Mr. Card. Rest assured, they will be put to good use.”
“Wait!” Peter shouted, as Thornton pulled the trigger. Peter continued to protest, his words slurring together as his body slumped to the ground like a ragdoll.
“Get him out of here,” Director Thornton told the two guards, as he returned to his desk.
The director waited until the two men were out of sight before pouring himself another tall drink.
 XIV
Consciousness came back to John far too quickly.  One second he was lying on the catwalk, watching the spider web of cracks spread out over him. The next second, he was… well certainly not on the catwalk. He was in a bed, staring up at a featureless white tile ceiling.
As his mind replayed the memories of the explosion- as if on cue – the aches spread down his body. With a grunt of exertion, John propped himself up on the bed and began to look around. It wasn’t heaven. Either that or Heaven looked exactly like the inside of Dome 58’s hospital.  And the man in the corner looked a lot like Director Sanders.
           “Director…” John grunted?
“You can call me Jim if you want.”  The Director said, as he poured a glass of water from a plastic pitcher and handed it to John “Take this, the doctors said to get water in your as soon as you were awake.”
           “Thanks…” John panted, “Jim…”
The Director – Jim – pulled up a chair and sat down next to John. “Peacekeeper Mulligan – may I call you John?”
           John nodded.
“The doctors also told me that I should get them as soon as you were awake.  But unfortunately there’s a conversation that truly cannot wait.  Do you understand?”
John nodded again, as he downed the glass of water. Jim reached for the pitcher, but John shook his head. “I’m good…” he muttered.
“You’re far more than good, John.”  The director replied, “If the accounts I’ve heard are to be believed, you are truly extraordinary.”
           “Is the dome…?” John began
“The glass barrier is fine.” The director answered, “There’s a few more cracks in it than there used to be.  But it’s still holding.”
John let out a sigh of relief. “And… Allison?” John asked, but in his gut he already knew the answer.
Jim shook his head. “I’m sorry, John.  She… she passed in the explosion.  You have my condolences, I understand the two of you were somewhat close.
           “We…” John began, “I guess we were...  I don’t know…”
The director raised his hand.  “I won’t pry if you don’t want me to.  I know it’s always a shock to friends and family when these things happen.  However, there is something we do need to discuss about it.”
“Don’t worry,” John said, lying back down, “You’ll have your full incident report once I’m out of this bed.”
“Actually, John, there’s no need for that.”
With a groan, John pushed himself into an upright position. “I beg your pardon, sir?”
“Peacekeepers have recovered a detailed suicide note from Allison’s residence, which I now have in my custody. The things Allison wrote down…” Jim shook his head, “There would be pandemonium if people knew.”
John lifted his eyebrows. “Knew what?”
The director titled his head. “I don’t understand…”
“What things don’t you want the people to know?” John asked, “Do you not want them to know that a woman with a bomb nearly shattered the dome? Or do you not want them to know that that woman believed… believed there weren’t any other domes.”
“Peacekeeper Mulligan,” The director began, “You have an exemplary record of service. And taking a wound in the line of duty is something that we notice at the office of the director.  It’s the type of thing that lets us know who we can trust.  Who we can put on the fast track for promotion. Do you understand my meaning?”
John looked at the director as though through a haze, “Just tell me two things. “
           “I’ll do my best.”
“No, don’t do your best.” John replied, “Just tell me the truth.”  John looked the director in the eyes. “Was my girlfriend – was Allison – ever truly in contact with any other domes?”
The director shook his head. “No, she only talked to actors.  People within the circle of trust.”
John nodded. “The second thing.  If I don’t cooperate, are you going to kill me?”
The director sighed. “You must understand, John, there are realities here that can’t be ignored.  You’ve seen yourself what this knowledge can do to people.  To good people, like Ms Graham.  It’s not pleasant, but it’s what we have to do.  You do understand, don’t you, John.”
John closed his eyes and lay back down against the pillow, “I understand perfectly.”
The director smiled, “I’m glad, John.”
“So… Jim,” John said, not bothering to open his eyes, “Could you do me a favor?”
“Certainly, John.” The director replied, “What do you need?”
           “Can you make it quick?”
“Make what qui… oh… I understand.”  Director Sanders rose from the chair and withdrew a dartgun from the inner pocket of his suit.  “Thank you for your service, Peacekeeper Mulligan.”
           It was quick.
XV
It was 3:00, and the shouts of the hordes of children leaving the education centers reverberated against the glass windows of Director Thornton’s office.  Ed sighed and stared at the mountain of paperwork on his desk.  If he hunkered down, he estimated he would be able to get it done before 7:00.  The director reached for the next reacquisition form and sighed.  Finishing the last of his brandy, the director pushed himself away from his desk and headed to the door.
Martha eyed him as he was leaving, “Taking an early night?” she asked.
“Just something I need to see.”  The Director responded, as he headed out onto the streets of Dome 58.
Ed’s driver, a redheaded woman in her thirties, stood up as he approached, but Ed gestured to signal that her services wouldn’t be needed.  “I need a walk anyway,” he muttered, not sure if she could hear. She had already returned to playing a card game on her tablet.
It was a two mile walk to Pleasant Park, but Director Thornton was out of breath when he arrived.  Perhaps he truly did need the exercise.  Director Thornton walked to his favorite bench, the one that had the letters “AG & JM” etched into the side inside of a heart.  Director Thornton sat down on the bench and stared up at the crack in the dome.  From this vantage point it was so large it nearly dominated the crimson sky.
Before he even knew what he was doing, the director grabbed his tablet and opened up Surveyor Card’s – Pete’s – project.  He scrolled down to the conclusion section. The tables and graphs were crystal clear, so easy even a pencil pusher like him could understand them.
With the entirety of the available stores of cyanoacrylate, used in exactly the right places, they could reduce the chance of the dome breaking in the next hundred years to just thirty-two percent.
           The director sighed.  Thirty-two percent.
           It would have to do.
Author’s Notes
·        It’s good to be back.  Life has made writing a bit more difficult this year, but I’m still very pleased with how this story turned out.
·        I believe this is my first story to completely unambiguously pass the Bechdel Test.
·        The fact that Margaret’s mother calls her pearl is a pun.  Margaret is Greek for “pearl.”
·        This story was inspired by the idea of a tryptich.  Which is usually three stories or poems centered around one topic.  I planned to do a triple tryptich, nine chapters, alternating between the three plotlines. Once it became clear that the story was too big for that, I turned it into the fifteen chapter mess that it is now.  Margaret and Persephone’s arc however still works as a tryptich.
·        Ed Thornton was an interesting character, one who I wish I could have done more with.  It’s not a coincidence that he and his predecessor, Jim Sanders, both use pretty much the same manipulation tactics on John and Peter.  I’d imagine that each director has been groomed by the one before into being a master manipulator who doesn’t question the status quo.
·        I don’t think Ed’s a sympathetic character, but I do sympathize with him to an extent.  Not many of the options he’s presented with are good ones. I don’t believe he was lying to Peter during their final confrontation and I do think he saw the killing as absolutely necessary. I think lying and manipulation are things that have become so normalized to him that he legitimately doesn’t see another way out.

INSTALLATION OF SPEED CAMERA SCHEME ON A90 THAT ‘WILL SAVE LIVES’ GETS UNDER WAY…. The installation of average speed cameras along a notorious stretch of road has begun. Thirty average speed cameras will be installed on the A90 between Dundee and Stonehaven this year. Yesterday, a camera, signs and apparatus to hold more average speed cameras were installed – the first of the cameras which will be placed between three and four miles apart. There will be 15 on each side of the carriageway, similar to the system already in place between Perth and Dunblane. Sandra Burke, chairwoman of Tealing Community Council, said the initiative was going to “save lives”. She said: “We really welcome the installation of the average speed cameras. “The thing about Tealing is that it bridges the A90 so we have cars, tractors and other vehicles in the community crossing the road. “The cameras can potentially save lives.” Sandra said the community council believes a reduction in the speed limit on the road — from 70mph to 50mph — would be the next step in ensuring the safety of the public. She added: “We are pushing for a reduction in the speed limit but we believe that the average speed camera installation is a step forward for us.” Luke Macauley, head of the Scottish Safety Camera Programme, is one of the key people behind the scheme. Previously, he spoke to The Daily Thistle when the introduction of the cameras was announced and insisted the move would see fatal crash statistics drop. He said: “We install these cameras to save lives and improve road safety. “Unfortunately, the A90 features as one of the trunk roads with the highest collision statistics. “One death is one too many and you’ll get no apologies from us for doing what we can to reduce that.” The A90 cameras will be the third such scheme in Scotland, following the introduction of average speed stretches on the A77 in Ayrshire in 2005 and the A9 between Dunblane and Inverness in 2014. The cameras work by detecting vehicles’ number plates and using the time they take to travel from one camera to the next to calculate an average speed. Figures from Transport Scotland show more than 13,000 speeding offences were logged on the A90 by speed cameras in 2015 — accounting for 20% of the total number recorded in Scotland.
SCOT MURDERED AT HOME IN MAURITIUS…. A Scottish woman has been murdered in a robbery at her home in Mauritius while her young son was in the house. It is thought Janice Farman, 47, may have been smothered by the thieves, who stole jewellery and money then drove away in her car. Police were called to the property at Albion on the Indian Ocean island at about 1am on Friday and found Ms Farman’s body in her bed. Officers also found her 10-year-old autistic son in the property and have passed him into the care of the child development unit. Police have launched an investigation and are hunting three suspects. The car has been found and will be examined by specialists. Ms Farman, thought to be originally from Clydebank, was the managing director of PECS Data Services in Mauritius.
BOOZED-UP PARTY-GOER BREAKS PELVIS JUMPING THROUGH WINDOW AFTER POLICE ARRIVED….  A booze-fuelled man, 20, threw a TV from a second-floor window before jumping through it himself when police arrived – breaking his pelvis. The “dangerous” act left Stefan Shelton hospitalised. He carried out the offence after drinking at a party – and said he had no memory of the incident. Shelton appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court and admitted a charge of behaving in a culpable and reckless manner by throwing the TV from the window at a flat on the city’s Justice Street, on to a footpath below. The offence took place on September 8 last year. According to the Evening Express, defence agent Les Green said: “This would appear to be a party he was invited to. “He drank far too much.” The court was told that there was mobile phone video footage recorded of the incident. Mr Green said: “He has no recollection of doing this at all. “From what I’ve heard from the footage people are chanting and urging him to throw the TV out the window. “He responded to the pressure, it was a stupid thing to do.” The defence agent also told the court: “When police arrived he jumped out the same window and broke his pelvis.” Mr Green added that Shelton was aware of the “danger” his actions had posed to those below on the street. He said: “He has not drank since. “He got a shock when I suggested this is something the court could impose a custodial sentence for. “He tells me now he has had something of a shock to his system.” Shelton, whose address was given in court papers as Whitehill Place, Peterhead, was fined £250 by Sheriff Christine McCrossan. Sentencing Shelton, Sheriff McCrossan said she wanted the 20-year-old to realise how “dangerous” his actions were, citing the case of a person who threw a traffic cone from a bridge in Edinburgh, leaving the person it struck paralysed.
FORGOTTEN SECOND WORLD WAR AIR SHELTER DISCOVERED BY WORKERS…. Workers installing one of Scotland’s largest solar panel projects have unearthed a lost piece of military history. Contractors were cutting back shrubbery during the work at a waste treatment plant in Montrose when they discovered a preserved air raid shelter from the Second World War. The shelter was part of the former RAF Montrose site, just off the Angus coast. The old base is said to be haunted by the ghost of a pilot who crashed at the site back in 1913. Mari Davies, the project manager for Scottish Water Horizons who is carrying out the solar panel work, said the discovery was “interesting”. She said: “The site was overgrown and we had to do a bit of work first to remove the dense shrubbery. “Having liaised with the local council, we knew that in the past the area could have been home to munitions and radioactive material, all remnants of the Second World War. “Thankfully nothing hazardous was uncovered which meant we were able to carry on with the work. “However once we’d cleared the land, we made the unexpected discovery of the air raid shelter. Although an interesting find, it did mean we have to alter our plans slightly to fit round it.” “The treatment works also sits on part of what was RAF Montrose which is said to be haunted by the ghost of Lieutenant Desmond Arthur, a pilot who crashed there in 1913. There have been many sightings of him over the years, but luckily none of our contractors had any paranormal experiences.
DUNDEE WOMAN SLAMS ‘LAUGHABLE’ MOMENT SHOP IN ENGLAND TURNS DOWN HER SCOTTISH BANK NOTE…. A Dundee woman has spoken of her “frustration” after being turned away after attempting to hand over Scottish notes in a shop in England. Diane Drysdale had been enjoying an anniversary break with husband Clive in the Lake District, Cumbria, at the start of the week. After travelling down on Monday, the couple prepared to head back up the road to Kirkton after an enjoyable trip. However, their break turned sour after they and nipped into the Spar shop in Appleby-in-Westmorland on Tuesday night. Diane described the episode as “laughable”. The 42-year-old explained: “We went into the shop for a couple of bits and pieces for travelling. “We went to hand over a Scottish note and the woman immediately said: ‘No, we can’t take that’.” Diane added that the shop worker pointed them in the direction of a cash machine outside. Thankfully for Diane, the store was quiet at the time and her embarrassment was kept to a minimum. She added: “Yes, we could have just used our card, but that’s not the point. It was only a couple of pounds-worth of stuff. It was also pouring of rain and we were told we’d have to go out to get cash. “We were in Turkey recently, a country outwith the EU, and they accepted our Sterling but a few miles down the road in England we can’t use it?” Diane posted her complaint on the Spar Facebook page, to which they responded that the shopkeeper should have accepted the cash, but said they’d look into it. Since then, the Dundonian hasn’t heard back from the national retailer and has described the situation as “frustrating”. A spokeswoman for Spar said: “We try very hard to make sure that our customers have a positive shopping experience with us and in this instance we are very sorry for any inconvenience caused to Ms Drysdale.” By law, Scottish bank notes are legal currency and have no reason not to be accepted – other than at the discretion of the shop. The Association of Commercial Banknote Issuers states: “The acceptability of any means of payment, including banknotes, is essentially a matter for agreement between the parties involved.”
On that note I will say that I hope you have enjoyed the news from Scotland today,

|The Ostranenie Effect|
I drove my truck down the sandy beach, passing the hazy blue ocean and its foamy white tides - which crept up to salt my tires. My eyes weren’t on the sand-made road, but focused on the pearls in the sky that lazed above the earth with its melancholic constitution. The balloons are buttons.
I regained focus as I began searching for a parking spot in the city so I could unload my belongings into my new apartment. I found a spot rather quickly but I didn’t now how to parallel park, so my truck did it for me. The olives didn’t come, they were crying and stacking books in the corner, but I only know how to read when you’re in                                    figurative, literative, blasphemy, time zone, seashell.
As I hopped out of my truck I grabbed a piece of paper from my pocket with bright red writing all over it, 651 was the building I needed to find. I’ve never seen my new apartment so I didn’t know I what I was looking for, just drapes and melanin playing with puppets. The city was confusing. Someone must have noticed my confusion because a young, dark haired man came up to me and offered to help me move my stuff into my building. He grabbed a few of my boxes, dogs and cradles, this and that, then headed down the street towards a group of men sitting around on the corner.
“How much you want? I got 3 boxes, $100 a piece. How much you want?”
He was selling my stuff. But I had embargo. The cargo ship moved through the intersection.         Jaywalker.         Jaybird.
She was blue and tired and dust.
I intended to stop the thief but instead I continued to walk down the street searching for my building number. I was told it was only a block away, yet I walked for miles down the city streets being overwhelmed by the stench of lamb kabobs. When I saw 650 appear, I knew I was close and that my building must be across the street. So I skipped past the future and opened the backdoor to the historic hotel and started to run, but the halls were dark and painted burgundy, and the lighting was so dim I lost my way. I ran down the first flight of stairs I saw and out the swinging doors which led me to 651, but it was an Asian Goods shop that also did taxidermy. There were no apartments here, just dead beavers. I took one and dyed my hair sandy blonde, like the beach. I was too distracted by the old man to wash the color out, so it turned to seafoam and the beavers became buoys.
My friend grabbed my arm and insisted she knew the way. My feet were hurting from the tan heels I wore, tan heels tan heels tan heels and toes, so I took them off but my toes became filthy from the dirt of the fields we were walking through. It was already dark and there were no buildings in sight, just tomatoes, but I think they were stars. So I stopped at the hotel by Denny’s and called my dad to let him know I didn’t make it, but I would try again in the morning.
                                              Unfortunately,
I never woke up and made coffee instead, but my mouth turned to gravel then existence evaporated. All the gardens shifted and now the mailbox smells like those flowers {the ones you can’t remember} but there is only sand falling like blades of grass from the sky inside the hotel.
I thought about this once.                                                         Then never again.
I am thinking about it three hours from yesterday because the lights are too dim for me to see how cold the ocean feels from inside a braid of stringy fingernails– but I can hear the identity with my eyes. I left this time. I saw it coming, so I blinked 47 times.
No. 42 times.
Is it social or science? It tastes like cherry cola? I’m not familiar with your tone of voice but I’ll accept the books, BLANK, where the point line plane postulate collapsed and I found 651 behind the cellar. I was already there before I never was.

POST-DEPOSITION
no wealth and no ruin by antistar_e: In which Mark Zuckerberg gets a job, learns important life lessons, makes friends, finds the love of his life, and dies. Not necessarily in that order. ★★★★★
how one thing leads to another, a story of coincidence by antistar_e: At 42, Eduardo Saverin has three things to his name: a plane ticket, one half of a formerly conjugal bank account, and a list.
place that don’t know my name by antistar_e: Looking up at the mess of stars above New (New New New) Singapore, he stops being Eduardo Saverin, absentee CFO of Facebook, and starts being Eduardo Saverin, time traveling companion to a mad man in a blue box who keeps on calling him Frank.
place between here and the destination by antistar_e: You know what's cooler than one million dollars? Eduardo Saverin, time traveler.
selective hearing by antistar_e: Marilyn's right, of course. The dilution wasn't the first time Mark plotted against Eduardo.
a seahorse gilt in gold by antistar_e: The first reported fatal case is in May, and within two months, Eduardo learns how to shoot people in the face. | remix of ‘the time is come when the day is done.’ ★★★
the time is come when the day is done by moogle62: Mark is in California. Eduardo is in Florida. There's a whole country full of zombies between them, but Mark's not going to let a little thing like the potential to be eaten stop him from getting somewhere Eduardo wants him to be. ★★★
what not to do when your boss is dating the guy he had erased from his memory by moogle62: In which Mark has a new mystery significant other, or so Dustin claims, and there is not enough alcohol in the world to make Chris's life any less stupid.
didn’t want to be your ghost by anonymous: Mark has an one-night stand with somebody and calls out the wrong name: Eduardo's. The person sells the story to the media, and things get kind of crazy. ★★★★★
never marry for money (you can borrow it cheaper) by hapakitsune: Mark and Eduardo get drunkenly married. Chaos ensues. ★★★
our endless numbered days by hapakitsune: You can’t change your situation. The only thing that you can change is how you choose to deal with it. Or, the one where Mark has cancer.
oriented towards the other by hapakitsune: Mark's empathy has been blocked off for years, for his own safety as well as comfort. But if he wants to win Eduardo back, he's going to have to embrace his ability and re-learn how to live with other people. ★★★
just the memory of your face by hapakitsune: Mark wakes up in bed with a husband he doesn't remember and a life he can't imagine having.
these things get louder by fledmusic: Mark finds out that everybody, including his mom, thought he and Eduardo were dating at Harvard. ★★★
almost, finally, finally by fledmusic: The first year of Mark and Eduardo's long-distance romance, featuring PDAs in formal wear, revelations about cookies, drama over Facebook info updates, and realizations that absence doesn't make the heart grow fonder quite so much as it makes the heart grow frustrated. ★★★★★
do you like me, yes/no? by ifeelbetter: Mark doesn't react well when he finds out the whole staff have been nursing a crush on Eduardo.
(act) as if the world is watching by grim_lupine: A lot of things are different from when they did this last. ★★★
in the details by grim_lupine: Where Mark learns the details.
the water under the golden gate by roaroftheninth: Eduardo’s father dies. Twelve days later, Eduardo jumps from the Golden Gate bridge. Neither of these things are the beginning or the end of this story.
cryptography for beginners by thedeadparrot: A few years after the depositions, Mark sends Eduardo an e-mail. Now Eduardo just needs to figure out what it says. ★★★★★
technical debt by thedeadparrot: Mark is trying, and he thinks Eduardo is trying, but their resentments go so deep it feels like their friendship can't go anywhere at all, like there's this huge architectural flaw in their code that they're trying to hack around when they should be trying to go back and rethink everything, like they need to tear it all down so that they can rebuild it all from scratch.
been at this far too long by beyond_belief: In which Eduardo learns how to argue with Mark, and Mark learns to be somewhat less of a jerk.
curious incident of eduardo in the night-time by jibrailis: Eduardo drunkenly tries to break into Mark's house to get back something of his. Mark isn't about to let a challenge go. ★★★
throw your back into it by jibrailis: Sex is not the enemy. Except when it is. The one where Mark is a slut, Eduardo has performance anxiety, and there are cross-country booty calls. ★★
strength in numbers by maxette: "Mark, you couldn't make a cat happy—you couldn't keep a plant alive, never mind make me—give me anything I—" Eduardo says and walks out. Mark takes that as a challenge.
learning to throw yourself at the ground and miss by forsanethaec: Mark receives intelligence that Eduardo hasn't left Palo Alto yet after the depositions and goes to his hotel to see what he can see.
unblock this misery by forsanethaec: One angry email from Singapore to Palo Alto snowballs into something that Eduardo had almost learned to stop hoping for.
trivial pursuits by fairy_tale_echo: But the top two players are always the same: E.S. and M.Z. None of the other players ever rank anywhere near them, it’s always just the two of them: Eduardo in first place and Mark just a few hundred points behind. No matter how long he plays or how well he does, every god-damn day he comes in second to Eduardo. ★★
draw me a map by fairy-tale-echo: The thousands of miles, both literal and figurative, Mark and Eduardo travel and the countless postcards and letters they write over five years as they grow up and towards each other. How do you get yourself back to a place you haven't been yet?
no big deal by fairy_tale_echo: The one where denial ain't just a river in Egypt. ★★
pieces from my heart by indecentexposed: Mark gets drunk, watches the video of the depositions, and comes to some startling realizations.
all that is left is all that i hide by therealw: Mark hires a prostitute that looks remarkably like Eduardo. The paparazzi spot them out somewhere. ★★★
the farther i fall i’m beside you by therealw: Wherein Mark, for the first time ever, actually listens to what a lawyer has to say. "You know what we're here for?" Marylin continues before he can interrupt, "I mean, what this really feels like?"
with a golden ring of wisdom in my cave by therealw: Wherein there's much discussion of a ring and Dustin makes LotR jokes. Set five years after the settlement. "On the last day of the depositions, Eduardo had thrown the small, worn-looking velvet box at her." | sequel to 'me who makes the monsters.' ★★★
always golden rocks to throw by therealw: Eduardo's plan was pretty much foolproof. He would attend the ceremony, politely converse with the guest sitting on his right during the first half of dinner and the one on his left during the second, just like his mother taught him, then have a glass of champagne and, as soon as Chris and Sean had finished their first dance as a married couple, get the hell out of there. | sequel to 'me who makes the monsters.'
old roads i go down by yellowteddysuit: Where Mark gets amnesia, and all he knows is that he's lost the last 'however many' years, and he's scared; he's got Eduardo's number in his phone, so of course he calls him. Eduardo, who's still angry, tells him what he's missing from those years.
tires sing to the asphalt by addandsubtract: In which Mark and Eduardo take a road trip across the us, and have a lot of issues. They seriously have a lot of issues. ★★★
how to make a second chance by blackeyedgirl: Mark goes to sleep in Palo Alto in 2007, and wakes up in Harvard in 2004. Meanwhile, Eduardo is in Palo Alto dealing with a Mark who seems to have forgotten more than just today's shareholder meeting. Both of them are wondering how many words it would take to change what happened next.
bugfixes in the redesign by blackeyedgirl: "Were you always this evil or is it a new development?" Mark tries to use his powers for good (or at least for Eduardo's benefit). Eduardo notices him trying.
delays in communicating by blackeyedgirl: Eduardo and Mark are both great at communicating. Just, lately, not with each other. They start sending messages without ever getting around to talking. Chris and Dustin watch and wait.
forgiving what we cannot forget by blackeyedgirl: Because there's nothing like an open wound, Eduardo sends for the deposition statements. He doesn't recognize the people in these pages.
share function by blackeyedgirl: Eduardo knows better now than to sign things without having them checked out by his lawyers first. So apparently what he needs are better lawyers. ★★
teeth in the grass by ninhursag: The one where Eduardo thinks they are in a tragedy with subtitles and pouring rain and his life is so hard, while Mark thinks they are in a romantic comedy and it is awesome. They meet in the middle. ★★★
on the path unwinding by thisissirius: In which Eduardo turns into a cute zoo animal, and Mark comes to a realization that he needs a human Eduardo around to deal with.
write it on the skyline by thisissirius: Chris bullies Mark away from the computer, fights him with words and angry gestures, tells him to get the fuck away from this stuff, I mean it like it’s detrimental to Mark’s health to be trying to find his best friend.
sky that’s always blue by abriata: Or, the one where Eduardo can control the weather, and Mark has to do something about it before Sean gets struck by lightning. ★★★
you only live twice (unless you're facebook. then you live forever) by lawofgravity: After he signs the nondisclosure agreement, Eduardo Saverin disappears off the face of the earth. Because he joins the CIA. He embraces the life of Super Secret Agent Man Eduardo Saverin. That is, until Facebook is threatened by terrorist plots and only Eduardo can save the day.
you came along and you cut me loose by pendules: Five happy endings Mark and Eduardo never had (and one they did).

Into The Future/Afterlife Freestyle Creative Fiction Series episode Five-Start of Creative Fiction Career Stories by Stella Carrier
oops I needed to remember to put her name which I used the name generator  to come up with naomi newman
Into The Future/Afterlife Freestyle Creative Fiction Series episode Five-Start of Creative Fiction Career Stories by Stella CarrierJuly 19, 2018 Into The Future/Afterlife Freestyle Creative Fiction Series episode Five-Start of Creative Fiction Career Stories by Stella Carrier start time of mini story 841 pmcompletion time of mini story (counting gathering of resources and sharing on certain social media outlets) 1105pm It is the year 2141 on August 30th and I am a 30 year employee who just celebrated my 60th birthday last week. I work at the University of Heart at Restaurant City less than 2 miles between the University of Maryland College Park Campus and a newly build community college that was built by the year 2090 that is a special writing and food publicity teaching college. Some of the things I do involve baking goods, setting up for food orders at various music events sponsored at the campuses in the area, and I work with some of the restaurants that set up shop on the campus by the year 2139. Yes, you heard that right over 50 different private sector restaurants are set up side by side. I manage the baking goods and cook some of the meats in  2 of the restaurants. I Naomi Newman typically work from 7am to 6pm each day because some of my day to day work involves travel time to places both across the country and globe. For instance, 2 writing workshops less than a mile from here order their food from our company and the University of Maryland and our university has some shared restaurant/food mall agreements with other college and universities across the Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia and abroad. For instance, a concert arena complete with its own 2 mile stretch of 50 supermarkets and restaurants was added to the area between this university and the University of Maryland by the year 2089. What this has to do with me and the 55000 other food employees is this; Panera Bread won a contract to do business with our college, the University of Maryland College Park campus, the 2 writing colleges and our sister campuses in Switzerland, Virginia, and Bethesda Maryland. What does this have to do with me you may ask; Well I have from 10 am to 3pm to travel to help give bread baking contest supplies to 42 other employees who are demonstrating in Arlington Virginia and 70 employees who are representing our school at a bread festival being held in Switzerland.  It is expected that I choose when to take my meal break as the trains that I travel on can easily take me all the way to Europe within an hour or less. By the year 2092 there were many eateries and other types of businesses built into underground train stations both across the U.S. and the globe and I could tell you stories just of that alone. When I say other types of businesses yes both the family friendly kind and the controversial kind. For instance, a place that I shall leave unnamed for good reasons gave me great massaging services and had been doing so for the past 10 years and this made this an easy decision to tip well for superb services rendered. However, halfway between my most recent massage session a female that I trusted handed me off to one of her male friends without asking me first. He was attractive and he heard about my reputation somehow as he told me during the session and despite the surprise I was almost about to tip him well until right as I thought he left the room I got up to put my clothes on and less than 60 seconds later he pounced on me and much to his surprise I got up and slammed him against the wall and advised him regardless of how slutty or sensual a female is  in her reputation that he needs to always make sure that she is in the mood. I have yet to go back to that business and I even gave another safer reason why I choose to avoid going when the female contacted me one day to politely ask me why I go to another massage business. I could easily bluntly tell her the deal yet the caveat is that the aggressive romeo I told you about is  her best friend's boyfriend and this best friend is related to one of my career mentors which is why I live by the rule that sometimes some things are better left unsaid andor carried into death. However, I Naomi Newman am filled with more joy/elation to share the following A recent sleeptime dream I had; I was helping 23 of multiple celebrities with portraying parts that I wrote a story script for yes I am a part time creative fiction writer. This was less than 2 months after the script was sold for movie rights.  2 of these celebrities invited me to hang out with them at the spiritual centers they are a part of. volunteering-I volunteer part time for a lottery headquarters that helps set up parties and organizes choice of food from the lottery winners. Even though  she is my career mentor she also explained to me why she was getting the feeling from one of her celestial spirit guides that I need to remember the concept of trains for a multiple number of my dream stories. resourceshttps://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/20th-century-english-names.php#.Wx8w1-4vycwsymbolism of restaurant city gamesome weird sleeptime dreams I had less than a year ago where I was at work where one of the work food stations at the University of Maryland College was built installed next to a Baskin Robbins-the harvest salad station and some Baskin Robbins vendor were directly next to each other and some blonde haired female that I truthfully do not recall having met before was joyfully working at the stand serving the customers. My late adoptive mother was Caucasian and she did color her hair blonde yet  I know that this female was not her because I easily recognize my late adoptive mother's energy  in my sleeptime dreams.  This female appears to not have even been born on earth yet and she seemed like a nice person and somehow I got the feeling from this sleeptime dream  I intuitively got the feeling that I may have been looking at something that is over 50 years into the future when I am easily at least 80-90 years old in my current earth lifetime andor after I have already passed on from the earth plane into the afterlife. During the same timeframe of this dream I was transported to another part of the work area where I spotted some  walking living potato having its way with some ambigous looking smaller living being happy to be taken away to be eaten (the size of the walking potato was of your normal looking potato and the ambiguous looking living being at least 3 times smaller than the potato).  I confess that even to this day I still have yet to decipher what my intuitive soul was trying to tell me with this sleeptime dream  because it unexpectedly popped up less than a month  after I had been praying for my destiny life long career life path  to be shown to me and I admit that so much was wandering in my head after i intuitively realized that I need to be clearer in my intent with the universe when deciphering my career life destiny. What I do know for sure; I did feel a sense of synchronicity with my soul and brave/confident in this strange sleeptime dream at least the part where I saw the baskin robbins part-it is not in my destiny cards to work at baskin robbins rather I sense my intuitive soul was trying to tell me something that some of the private sector eateries in the area may merge/combine with some of the eating establishments 50 years into the future-hopefully well after the 2060s andor later-the potato part I think might have just been some symbology of something my soul picked up on for me to figure out months from now and may only make more sense years from now. I'm aware that I continue to have so much to learn yet this is one clue where I can tell the difference between sleeptime dreams influenced by my human ego andor external influences compared to subliminally picking up sleeptime dreams influenced by the language of my intuitive soul/heaven influenced higher self/my celestial spirit ally team-the sleeptime dreams have a quality where I am feeling self confident andor with a sense of celestial divine life purpose andor a sense of mystical knowing/awareness from the sleeptime dream.volunteeringtherapy andor life coach psychic coachupcoming plans for free time andor funany vacation goalsspiritual beliefs of each character andor awareness of spirit guides/spirit alliessleeptime dreams that impacted meadvice that came from my life coaches to help me build upon my wisdom further knowledge etc. I preface sharing this freestyle story that I am doing as creative writing therapy both to show appreciation for all who look at my online writings yet to also make this clear; I am humbly and modestly touched at an online communication I received pertaining to someone who wants to become a career coach. However with both modest and brave intent, I must make it clear that I do not plan to become a career coach as I sense that I am destined for a career path(s) completely different from career coach. Rather, I am writing this for other reasons pertaining to wanting to be employed as a career coach one of the reasons I feel comfortable sharing  that my creative fiction genre freestyle writings are a form of creative writing therapy. Additionally, I notice that the more I write, the more my wiser parts of my logic and creative intuition are activated/increase for the benefit of the wisdom I seek for greater knowledge and application of that knowledge in various areas of my life both offline and online. With that out of the way, here is today’s mini story I Stella Carrier Humbly Call Upon What I Imagine To Be The Influence of Benevolent Spirits From the Heavenly Realms, my higher self, and my celestial spirit ally team for creativity in both my writings and all other areas of my life both present and future. Can I get health insurance for only my baby?
I just need a little guidance right now so I know what to do when my child is born. I'm due at the end of next June. I want to get health insurance for my baby because I'm not trying to pay an arm and a leg every time I take her to the doctor. However, I only need the insurance for the baby. I'm covered until I'm 25, even after I give birth, under my mother's insurance. (I'm 22 now.) Her insurance is through her job, she works for the State of Colorado. I already checked into adding the baby under her plan, but my mom would either have to be my child's legal guardian or adopt it. I don't want or need her to do that. How much more is insurance if I don't take Driver's Ed.?
I'm nearly seventeen, and I don't even have a permit :X, I was never able to find my proper documentation (no, I'm not illegal, I just HATE going through beurocracy). I live in Iowa, and I have to wait six months before I can get my license. But it'll be a limited license, and in order to get it I have to take three months of driver's ed. and do twenty hours of independent driving. So if I got it in March, the earliest I could drive would be September. But I won't have a car, and I don't need a car; and I don't have the money for a car. So I figured I'd wait until I was eighteen, which would be in May of 2011, because I wouldn't need any needless requirements, and I wouldn't have to take driver's ed. But my question is; how much more would car insurance be if I didn't take driver's ed, and just went for my full license when I was eighteen?""

Ok, so I got a speeding ticket on Saturday for 5 over, I havent gotten a ticket in almost 5 years, my driving record is almost perfect, Im 25 years old. So I didnt have proof of insurance when I got pulled over, the cop said it was fine, just bring it when I pay my ticket. So Im fairly certain I didnt have active insurance at that point, so Im wondering now if I were to buy insurance right now and bring proof of it in, would I get in trouble for not having it at the time I got pulled over? It was just a citation? How much will my insurance rates go up for a 5 over? Let me know, thanks! PS. I live in Michigan""

Why is classic car insurance more?
For a teen I mean. I know these types of cars need special insurance companies but these special companies don't take 18 year old drivers. I'm currently parting out a 76 camaro with a tired 250 v6 so it's not fast in any ways. Though it is still called a sports coupe . so I was curious and got a quote and they quoted me $550 a month. strange thing is my friend drives an 04 rsx that's standard (the camaro is auto) and pays the same rate monthly under his parents. What are the factors that determine these rates? safety? engine size? the amount of damage they do? I had a 03 civic coupe (standard) briefly and was paying $260 a month under my parents insurance. According to the insurance company, all these cars are considered sports cars and therefore have higher rates however they would not tell me the reasons why and that is what I am here to ask.""

How much does the insurance pay for inconvenience fees?
I was in a wreck the other day and it was the person's fault who hit me. My car is totaled. She was fine and all i had was a cut and i went to the ER and they did xrays and they took out a piece of glass. Her insurance company is pretty good they already have me a rental car and they are buying me a new car and they are even giving me cash for maintenance costs and stuff I've done to my car in the past 6 months and then they said that they are paying inconvenience fees for having to go to the hospital. They have already paid for the xrays and the bills for the hospital so why are they giving me more money for this 'inconvenience fee' and how much will it be? Thanks

Car Insurance when selling Car?
Ok the situation is as follows: I am selling my car for a new one. I have asked my current insurer to transfer my policy to the new car which is fine. However I then questioned about temporarily insuring my old car under the policy and they wanted a ridiculous amount of money for a week - I also do not know how long it will take to sell the car. I questioned the amount and asked what customers generally do when they wish to keep an old car insured. I was told that I could drive my old car on a 3rd party basis as my policy going forward covers me fully comprehensive. I thought fantastic - but then I was shocked when I was told that if I drive the car it is insured 3rd party only but as soon as I park it up somewhere it is uninsured and could be towed away by the police. I have since read my policy document which claim that I can drive any other car 3rd party providing I do not own the car and that there is already insurance in place? Can anyone clarify the above or provide advice. I am so confused and unfortunately are unable to call my insurer back now or over the next couple days? Thanks in advance

Should I consider getting health insurance??
I am 22 and have no health insurance. I am a pretty healthy person and don't have to see the doctor often. I just think it's a waist of money to get health insurance unless it's for accidents or something like that because in order to get an affordable monthly premium then your deductible is going to be high. I may never reach the deductible, but still have to pay the premium. So should I just pay out of pocket when I do need to go to the doctor and just consider getting a high deductible plan or should I just go ahead and pay a higher monthly premium for a lower deductible. Car insurance for young UK drivers and fronting? Whats Best?
I've just passed my test. But, the next thing is a car, but the main problem is the insurance... I've looked at companies that offer a smart box which supposedly lowers the insurance, but i'm going to have to be the main driver on the policy and with a box through co-op I was quoted 5000! And as i'm under 18 they wanted it all in one lump sum!! The reason it was so high was because I have absolutely 0 years claims and i'm the main driver. I've spoken to my mum and dad about them being the main driver and me the named, but they both have a car each and are being very stubborn and keep saying they won't be the main driver as they wouldn't be the person driving it the most (I would be). They keep saying this is illegal and called fronting and if anything happened the insurance companies would look for anyway to not pay up. Everyone one at college that I know does exactly what i'm proposing to my parents... They keep saying if something was to happen then they would be the ones not able to get insurance again and therefore would loose their job as they need their car for their job. If I crashed, or the police pulled me for some reason then I would be insured, so what could they do? Do you think my parents are being awkward about it, and what can I say to make them think otherwise? (Someone I know has a dad as a taxi driver and he is the main driver on his car, as well as his own!) If anything unfortunate happens whilst i'm driving, like a crash, how will the insurance company know who's been driving it the most? What would they do? Should i persevere with my parents (what can I say to them)? And who else is good to try and insure with? I'm thinking of a 1999 Polo or Corsa, just a cheap 750 run around for college Thanks :)""

Pay-as-you-drive auto insurance: do you think this is a good idea?
An alliance of insurance companies and environmentalists wants to bring a new kind of mileage-based auto insurance to California and charge motorists only for the number of miles actually driven. Called pay as you drive, the option is available from a few insurers in 34 states ... as well as Canada, Japan and Europe. One company, GMAC Insurance Group, says its customers -- whose mileage is tracked by General Motors Corp.'s OnStar system -- have reduced the premiums they pay by 13% to 54%.... The system could cut motoring costs, protect the environment and reduce traffic congestion, boosters say. Opponents, mainly privacy advocates, say they fear that insurance companies could begin tracking more than just a driver's mileage. High-mileage drivers could also see higher rates. from the Los Angeles Times http://www.latimes.com/news/science/environment/la-fi-carinsure15-2008jul15,0,6970018.story""

The Daily Thistle
The Daily Thistle – News From Scotland Saturday 15th July 2017 "Madainn Mhath” …Fellow Scot, I hope the day brings joy to you…. Are you all set for the weekend, shopping, visit to family and or friends, maybe packing to catch a plane or take a trip, or what about a trip to the movies, my good friends, whatever it is carry on doing it … don't let the terrible thing that happened in Nice, London, Berlin, Paris or Manchester affect what you do, if it does the terrorist has won and we will never get our lives back again, I still walk my friend and companion Bella at 4am in a town full of people from Arabic countries and I will until it's my turn to get off this little blue planet, NO, I am not trying to be a hero, I'm a realist, the chance of that happening to me are slim and none, and you Gentle Reader, no matter where you are, the UK, Europe, United States of America or any other country in the world have the same odds, what the terrorist wants is YOU and ME to think we are next, and we are not, you have much more chance of being hit by a bus than being a statistic in a terror attack, so don't sit in the house worried, enjoy life, smell the Tulip's go down the Pub/Bar have fun and enjoy your selves, on this little blue planet we call Earth as we spin through space and time together..... The Association of Commercial Banknote Issuers states: “The acceptability of any means of payment, including banknotes, is essentially a matter for agreement between the parties involved.” On that note I will say that I hope you have enjoyed the news from Scotland today, Our look at Scotland today is of the Isle of Mull railway..why? Just because..

Super Secrets Freestyle Story by Stella Carrier
Start time 403 am
Finish time 455 am
Food Analyst Pauline Russell  who resembles Madonna from the Lucky Star video and naval architect Iris Alexander who resembles the love interest in Maroon 5’s Animal video are some of the dinner guest supper party attendees at a supper club that is being held near a college in the Los Angeles California area. Both Pauline and Iris are friends who have come along to this supper club  as support while their husbands are working late shifts in the day. Pauline’s husband Lester is a college professor of psychology at a community college in Los Angeles while Iris’s husband Lloyd is entertaining guests later in the evening as a successful real estate agent selling houses to various people from different walks of life living in the Los Angeles California area.
Both Pauline and Iris also notice two couples visiting from Canada sitting right across from them at the table. Both couples are visiting from Vancouver Canada with one of the guys resembling the lead singer of the band Weezer in the Buddy Holly video and another guy resembling the lead singer in the video Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down. Out of curiosity, both Pauline and Iris try to get a glimpse of the women sitting next to the men but both women are disguising themselves with matching purple, red, and orange dresses and red masks (the only noticeable feature that Pauline and Iris notice on both women are the long hairstyles of both women with one of the women have long dark brown hair and the second woman having long red and blonde colored hair). Before Pauline and Iris could make conversation with the women two women come out with large trays of tomato and mozzarella pizza and 4 pieces of mushroom and truffle butter steak pieces divided up into 12 cuts. The two women named Judy and Linette bringing out the food resemble singer Keyshia Cole from the Heaven sent video and Mary J Blige from Just Fine. Pauline and Iris right away figure out that Judy and Linette organized the supper club as the two women explain to the dinner party guests some of the food.
Once all of the guests are drinking from glasses of strawberry wine, both Judy and Linette explain that they have a complementary special surprise for the guests before they come out with further food and clear the dishes and drinks away for the guests. Suddenly, a man named Brandon Johnson, who resembles the lead singer of the Zac Brown band with such songs as Keep Me In Mind introduces himself as a psychic channeler and hypnotist to the whole supper club party group. Before Brandon Johnson sits down with the rest of the supperclub guests he turns on the 77 minute version of A State of Trance by the Cosmic Club in order to get the group to relax as he also lights 4 candles on the table with red, orange, yellow, and purple colors.
Brandon Johnson starts the meditation/intuitive session with telling the group you are learning to be calm and have inner peace. Suddenly, each of the 6 members of the Supper Club find themselves on each of their own personalized comfortable peach and magenta colored sofa seats outside among some colorful orange and pink trees overlooking a clear aqua blue lake. The group are transfixed in their sofa seats but feel safe as Brandon Johnson has them meet one of his past clients, who is still living, who has lost over 170 pounds by walking at least three miles each way to and from work. Brandon then goes to a bright blue, green, and violet table to speak to his celestial spirit ally team about opening a portal way for benevolent spirits to come through in order to show his fellow dinner party guests certain gems of secrets that are common among some of the most successful people on earth, just not everyone.
Just then, the table of Brandon Johnson’s celestial spirit committee temporarily disappears including the picnic table and he notices that all six members of the group are in front of the campfire. All of a sudden Brandon gets an intuitive insight on him to ask each group member to take a stick or two but no more than two sticks per person. Fortunately, each of the group members comply with Brandon Johnson’s idea sensing his harm-free intent. Brandon Johnson then asks each group to read what it says on their stick as each member is gathered around a circle.
Pauline is sitting comfortably in the circle as she sees and says that her stick reads advice to eventually finalize where she would prefer her and her husband to reside long-term for clear and faster law of attraction results. Pauline also sees on her second stick the words keep military bases, colleges, grade schools, and middle schools in mind for where to invest moneywise. Pauline hands over the stick to Iris who sees the advice that it would be more beneficial for her to connect to her higher self addressed from a place of the higher self being in the future already in the afterlife and a more heavenly realm. Iris then tries to gently nudge one of the males next to her in the summer like camp to see what their stick stays but for whatever reason, the male spirit glows a bright orange, reaches out to hug Iris, and merges into her spirit body as she telepathically gets the feeling that she needs to keep more of her sleeptime dreams secret for reasons she must avoid disclosing for at least 4 more months. Iris then remembers an inspiring student loan story that she found earlier about someone who repaid their student loans in three years. Iris new that a more realistic option would involve at least 14-15 years yet her intent around this would inspire more creative prosperity ideas from her subconscious. However, before Iris could address any of the supper party guest members, she is woken by her husband who wanted to cuddle a little bit after getting home from work. Iris realizes that the supper club party must have been a dream as well.
