HSS Appreciation Week 2025: Official Masterlist + What's next going forward!

First, a message from host @cadybear420:

I want to start off by once again giving a huge thank you to everyone who participated in this event. As the Choices/Pixelberry fandom has been shrinking, it always saddened me that Choices HSS seemed like it'd become one of the more relatively niche sub-fandoms. While it may be one of the more "vanilla" titles, there's still a lot of heart and effort that has gone into it.

The MCs and main casts of HSS generally tend to unify the community of Berry High, bringing together students of all types. And with this event, my goal was similar– to bring people together for some well-deserved HSS Appreciation. Whether you're more of a HSS Prime fan, a OG Choices HSS fan, a HSS:CA fan, or not as familiar/involved with HSS... it's been fantastic to see everyone give some love to this series one way or another. I can say for sure that this event was indeed a success.

Hi all

First of all, a huge thank you for all the people who have contributed to this HSS appreciation week and have made it a success through their artwork/edits/writing.

It's been really amazing to see that this series is still well loved and received by many members of the HSS fandom and it has been wonderful to interact with you all and to bring us all together with common ground.

What to look out for in the future:

HSS Appreciation Week 2026!!!

HSSAW 2026 will likely take place around the same dates as this year's event did, but that's not for certain. We'll try to have the next year's event dates announced by the start of November.

Character-Specific Appreciation Events!

An Emma Hawkins Appreciation event for 2025 (event blog still pending) will be taking place on August 9, her canon birthday!

Aiden Zhou Appreciation Week 2025 ( @aidenzhouappreciationweek ) will be taking place sometime in October! The events dates should hopefully be announced by the start of August.

Maria Flores Appreciation Day 2026 ( @mariaflores-appreciation ) will take place on February 3, her canon birthday!

We wanna keep the HSS love going strong. Nothing is set yet as we're still coming up with what exactly such events would be and how we'd go about doing them, but stay tuned!

Oliver M. Berry High's Tigress Trinity

As I showed earlier, I have more HSS MCs, but these ones were the first to be created and follow most of the canon

Gala Moschen, The Founder

Gala was the daughter of a deadbeat father and a single mom who was a Brazilian immigrant looking for the famous 'American Dream' and found herself disappointed by the system and how many people it abandoned and left to fend for themselves. Her great-grandma died and left her and her mom a significant sum, and Gala had a great mind for numbers, and with the supervision of her mother and lawyer, Oliver Miguel Berry, an old but sly and brilliant man, built it from the ground, first called Cedar Cove High, and would be called Oliver M. Berry when he retired as a lawyer and stepped up as a principal, his true passion (and the one to pick Hughs as principal). She was intelligent, quiet, observant and incredibly passionate, with a strong sense of justice and a shrewd girl, she was at first not very pretty: she had big glasses, short hair and a lot of acne, but made up for having charm and charisma for days, and her kind, generous and genuine heart attracted many, especially Julian.

They dated very soon, and Julian slowly seemed to become a better man by Gala's side and were each other's kiss, relationship and 'I love you's. Until Julian, young and immature, broke up with Gala and started dating Autumn. Gala dated Ace, whom had redeemed himself after trying to shut the school down. She caught a prestigious scholarship and flew to Switzerland for the rest of the school day before graduation. She came back a changed woman: grew a few inches, as well as impressive curves that her Brazilian mother told her she'd get and started to truly take care of herself, all thanks to her socialite friend that she made in there. She and Julian would meet again at Ohio University, where he'd win her back and never let go. They married two years after graduating university, where she got a master's degree in Political Sciences and had two children, Mirena and Aaron Castillo-Moschen.

Elisa Connor, The Glue of Berry

Eldest of triplets, born of a Spanish immigrant and an American man with Hispanic ancestry, she used to live in Maryland before moving to Cedar Cove after her parents' divorce and job offer to her father, Scott, who took joint custody with his ex-wife. Out of her sisters, she was the one looking forward most to start anew. She instantly felt a connection to Berry, like she finally belonged somewhere, and was the one to win prom queen, homecoming queen and guest of honour, take down Isa and create a tentative olive branch between Hearst and Berry after half a decade of rivalry. She fell in love with Emma Hawkins, who was her best friend, girlfriend and everything.

She didn't appear much during the CA timeline, but rather her more artistic sister Elena, who was beautiful, talented and beloved by the student body and teachers, among them Mr. Olson. Preppy, assertive, optimistic and with a rebellious streak, she was the one to unite the HSS gang and make it a strong group, uniting otherwise separated brands, such as band, cheerleading and jocks. She was considered to run for student body president, but politely declined, being more happy in the sidelines, having had enough time in the spotlight, and thoroughly supported Rory, while Edurne supported Teddy. She was the smartest of the sisters and got generous offers from Penn and graduated a year early, studying a bachelor and master's degree in Children's Education and became a kindergarten's teacher. She and Emma married soon after graduation and had a double wedding with Elena and Maria and had a daughter, Julie Connor.

Halley Buchaneer, Humanist Extraordinaire

The youngest of the pack, she knew she wanted to be an actress for a long time, and dedicated herself to the humanities. Although she had a sorta puppy crush on Rory, it faded away when she met Skye, and was soon crushing hard on her. She was one of the most talented actresses to ever grace Berry, apart from Cira Jacobs, the first girl actor of Berry High and who had just debuted in a famous film.

She resented Danielle for sabotaging her and deep down, never truly forgave her or ever trusted her, and advocated for both Rory and Teddy, but eventually Rory won and she became official with Skye and encouraged her to emancipate from her abusive parents and find a foster home until she was 18. She graduated in an Ivy League university for the arts and soon began working for famous actress and producer Kiara Clark, being one of the newest faces in Hollywood. The two never married and only had children when they were both in their late thirties, adopted twin girls Abigail and Aurora Buchaneer.

the connor triplets: a deep dive

first, we have edurne: looks like she's all brawn and no brains, all good for sports, but actually, she's so much more. just because she isn't good at math or the brightest at english doesn't mean that she isn't smart: she is. she can calculate the perfect strategy, read people well in the field and how to liven a crowd, and make it through a tough play.

she can run fast and for a long time, she can do gymnastics, she can lift any weight. and, despite not being the most feminine of her sisters, she does care about her appearance, she's just a low-effort one. with aleppo soap, that costs 4$ in a sale, she looks as amazing as her twin sisters who spend hundreds of dollars in skincares. and she has the highest self esteem of them all, because she knows she's pretty in both football garter and silky dresses, even if she's more of a suit woman.

in a world full of men, she proves that she can be as strong and capable as them, and breaks all the stereotypes, takes no bullshit, is hard-working and knows her worth and what she deserves and is capable of. and that is what attracts michael to her: how free she is and how unabashedly herself she is. he loves her freedom, and how she doesn't let stereotype and gender norms confine her, and why they make the perfect match, and a novelty for berry, especially after brian leaves for hearst.

moving onto elena, she's definitely a beauty. the biggest beauty of the three. however, beauty is a blessing and a curse. especially when you shine on your own in front of envious people. for long, people who were genuinely threatened of her made her think that she was nothing but her pretty face and made her feel bad and dirty for being so beautiful, and for a long time, she hated herself and had the lowest self-esteem of the sisters.

that is until she comes to berry, where the people seem to see her, not just look at her pretty face. and while she and maria don't have a typical teenage romance, maria teaches her what she has been denying for long: how brilliant she is with academics, and how inspiring she is regarding her eternal good heart and her generosity, especially how creative she is with the violin.

for long, people told her do to 'something useful' with her life instead of trying to be a violinist, but between maria and aiden, she saw for herself how possible and plausible her dreams were. slowly opening back her shell, you can see that she's much more than her pretty face and violin: she is generous, but she's also a whole person, caring, mentally mature and emotionally intelligent, someone with a deep perspective and one of those people who you meet and feel inspired of how much they offer and give, just because. she may be underestimated because of her looks and shyness, but she shouldn't be. because people always remember kindness over any evil, and it is how much berry loves elena that will be key to isa's downfall once it is whispered that isa will get rid of one of berry's philantropists. it is also her surprisingly high iq that gives her an invitation to apply to no other than julliard after graduation... with maria's help.

and finally, elisa, the first mc i ever created. she's gone through so many changes, but this is the one. she looks like this walking rainbow, right? well, she's much more than that. she's righteous, social, fierce, devoted and loves with her all. she's loyal to fault, always looks out for others and loves people and to make people happy because she knows just how cruel the world- and people- are, and she knows that she can't fully change it, but she can make it a better to live in despite the evil outside. she's honest, perhaps too honest, and not to be funny or cool, but because she knows how harmful lies are to people as a whole and knows that, even if the truth hurts, it'll help people. and yes, she can be proud and stubborn, but she makes it up by lifting you up. she commands the room without even asking, she allows herself to be, she's completely herself and she loves people with her all, without asking for anything back, she wants the best for everybody and just wants to be accepted and loved, and berry provides that.

and i think that's what drew emma to her. she may have not seen it first, but seeing how patient, understanding and respectful she was of her time and pace, and how much she gave to the community and light up the room and made people smile just because is what made her fall for her. everyone is drawn to her for the right reasons, and how despite her strong temper, it doesn't stop her from having her heart in the right place and helping people and making of the place she's in a liveable place.

in conclusion, they may be polar opposites, but they are also the same person, and the reason berry was a better place with them in it.

elena is perhaps the gentlest soul one will meet. kind, shy and an overachiever, she prefers music and books to being around people, unlike her twin sisters. she's also the prettiest of them, but doesn't really believe it. during the whole year, she begins developing a crush on maría flores, and the two end up together after homecoming

edurne is the youngest, and a wild one at that. she hates being bound by society and is a tomboy, although she doesn't say no to a skirt or a cute dress. she's a rebel at heart, and out of the three sisters, the only one to call on brian's bullshit. she and michael harrison start what it's now called a 'everybody save them knows it' up till homecoming
