"I represent Dr. John Carradine's Dracula's Rest Home. Our slogan is, 'Spend a week with us, and you'll never spend one with anyone else.'"
Peter Lorre on "G.I. Journal," January 18, 1945 [Radio]:
A fun G.I. Journal episode with Peter Lorre and John Carradine! I put together their parts in this clip. (Sound quality is a little muddy.)
The full episode is here. Jack Haley (Tin Man from Wizard of Oz) is the MC. Also with Mel Blanc, Jane Wyman, Connie Haines, and the Pied Pipers with June Hutton.
About the show: During WWII, the War Department created the Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS) to entertain and inform the troops. One very popular show from Hollywood was "G.I. Journal," a combo sitcom & variety show. The premise was celebrity guest editors putting out a weekly newspaper.
John Carradine worked with Peter Lorre in these films:
Nancy Steele is Missing! (1937)
Thank You, Mr. Moto (1938)
I'll Give a Million (1938)
Mr. Moto's Last Warning (1939)
