no but listen im genuinely obsessed with the idea of what he's going to feel when he's unwhammied. like. can you fucking imagine having someone--and specifically THIS someone for mr benedict--rummaging around in your head and changing things, making you feel joy, and it's like. both the VIOLATION of that, the horrific violation of feeling yourself changed against your will and then coming out of it knowing how you acted and what you said and who saw you and how humiliating and violating that must feel, but also. oh, also. also the guilt of how relieving it was, how good it felt to not be weighed down by guilt and pain and loneliness and anger and depression and stress and anxiety to just be like. uncomplicatedly happy. to not feel alone. to be with his brother again. to be happy. and like. to wake up from that with the weight of the world back on your shoulders, furious and humiliated and violated and horrified and just utterly cracked open and vulnerable and scared and angry, but all of that mixed up in the guilt and shame and embarrassment, and just like. you just have to get up and keep going. you just have to endure because it's not fucking over yet. and he's got so much self-loathing and self-blame and guilt that would he even like. this feels unforgivable but he loves his brother so much and he blames himself for what he's become. it's so hard for him to get angry on his own behalf at all, even for the things nathaniel has already done, and this feels so much worse but what can he do? what can he do? maybe it breaks them just a little. maybe it breaks him just a little.

April Archival Activation 4/27/21 -- Samuel MB 

Samuel MB is an elementary school teacher by day, and by night he is Walt Disney. Samuel uses photoshop to incorporate Disney characters into real-life scenarios. He uses characters like the Lost Boys, Tarzan, Lilo & Stitch, and many more.

I came across this artist on my Instagram explore page. My Explore page is full of artists’ works with different varieties, themes, and media. I find it interesting how he interacts the objects with the cartoons, such as using the pumpkin and green light in the dark. He also used a candle’s light source to mimic Lumiere’s light source. Samuel used strategic photoshopping techniques to capture a new story with iconic characters. This type of art already inspires people who are fans of Disney and have seen these movies during their childhood. This type of art brings a sense of nostalgia and innocence.

Samuel MB is a huge fan of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” This film was one of the many inspirations for Samuel’s work. The film incorporated real-life footage and cartoons in the same story. Space Jam was also another popular film that was live-action/animated.

These art pieces are fun to look at; they bring a sense of happiness and comfort. They are goofy and humorous. I admire how Samuel brings the connection from the audience to the Disney characters. As the viewer, we are meant to be in Samuel’s perspective and imagine what it would be like to interact with these characters, making it a personal experience. His work is also a tribute to Walt Disney, who created these characters to create happy stories for his fans, and this was Samuel’s version of passing on those stories.

Críticas: Voy a empezar diciendo que ha sido la mayor decepción que he visto en los Live Action de Disney. Tiene cosas de la película original. Hay cosas nuevas que están bien pero tiene muchas cosas malas.Le falta ritmo, no ponen las canciones, quitan personajes míticos como por ejemplo a Mushu, Li Shang y al más importante a Shan Yu. La banda sonora está bien pero le falta más potencia en los momentos importantes. La fotografia es excelente. La actuación de Liu Yifei está genial lo mejor de la película. El malo es muy flojo ni comparación con la cinta del 98. Otra cosa que no me gusta es el exceso del tema de Reflejo que se repite demasiadas veces. Apenas tiene humor cosa que era esencial en la de dibujos. El ave Fénix sale dos veces y para eso quitan a Mushu. Seguimos con más fallos la familia no se llama Fá ahora se llama Hua. A veces se hace lenta y cortan cosas de la original (Os contaré en Spoilers). Si esta película sido 90% fiel al film del 98 y el 10% restante con estas pequeñas cosas nuevas le hubiera puesto un 9 o 10. La mala ni si quiera nos dice de donde viene (O al menos eso recuerdo). Las tomas de acción están bien rodadas. Apruebo la película porque tiene buenos efectos, fotografía y es entretenida.

En resumen, Mulán es un producto aceptable, por los pelos. Es muy inferior a la película animada, debido a unas cuantas decisiones narrativas bastante cuestionables y a su escasísimo impacto emocional, lo cual es la tónica habitual en los remakes de la casa del ratón. Si te gustan los otros intentos del estudio de traer sus pelis de los 90 a la acción real, pues igual te gusta este, ya que al menos a mí no me parece el peor de todos ellos (a menos, claro está, que lo que te eche para atrás sea el alegato feminista, que claro que está ahí, pero es que vamos a ver, ya estaba muy presente en la original, ¿de verdad alguien pensaba que en 2020 ese mensaje no iba a aparecer multiplicado por cinco?). Eso sí, no creo que merezca la pena pagar 22 euros por ella, y menos aún para verla en tu casa.

Jasper bursts into the room, Monroe hanging off of his arm and laughing like a girl who had had just a little too much to drink. You had been hunched over the desk, scrawling notes to yourself and the others that came in and made changes to the “ledgers”. You weren’t in here all the time, but it was a good thing you were at the moment, because Monroe looked absolutely decimated.

“What’s wrong?” You swing your legs over to the side of the chair and stand up, reaching out to pinch Monroe’s cheeks between your fingers and look into her eyes. “Just looks like she had a little too much to drink… in the middle of the afternoon.”

As Jasper rattles off the details, you begin flipping through the list of plants you happened to have splayed out in front of you. You hear another pair of boots enter the room as you run your finger down the page, and you know who it is immediately just by his gait.

“Jasper, Abby says she can take a look at Monroe now.” Bellamy leans in the doorway, his lips twisted into a worried frown. 

“Tell Abby it’s uh,,, the brown capped one. Probably underdeveloped since she didn’t notice the white spots on the top,” you mutter, trying your best not to look too hard at the curly-haired boy standing in your “office” of sorts. You still aren’t used to his presence, not like this. And as Jasper leads Monroe out, still giggling and gasping for breath, Bellamy looks as though he wants to bang his head against the wall.

“How many times have we told them?” He cracks a little grin, trying to negate the anxiety full-throttle in the back of his mind. You notice it, but you also decide not to call attention to it. It does him no good to dwell on it. It’s his instinct to worry, you understand that better than most. He’s still not used to Octavia’s independence.

“Think I should hold a seminar?” You ask, bumping your hip against the desk and cross your arms across your chest.

“Mmm maybe,” he mumbles softly, crossing the room and pulling you against his chest, burying his face into your hair. This, this is exactly what you aren’t used to, and sometimes you can’t tell if he reaches for your affection because he needs his anxiety relieved.

“I guess the seminar is going to have to wait,” you hum, turning around to plant a soft, teasingly chaste kiss on his lips.

“At least for an hour, or maybe two,” he agrees darkly.

Críticas: Voy a empezar diciendo que ha sido la mayor decepción que he visto en los Live Action de Disney. Tiene cosas de la película original. Hay cosas nuevas que están bien pero tiene muchas cosas malas.Le falta ritmo, no ponen las canciones, quitan personajes míticos como por ejemplo a Mushu, Li Shang y al más importante a Shan Yu. La banda sonora está bien pero le falta más potencia en los momentos importantes. La fotografia es excelente. La actuación de Liu Yifei está genial lo mejor de la película. El malo es muy flojo ni comparación con la cinta del 98. Otra cosa que no me gusta es el exceso del tema de Reflejo que se repite demasiadas veces. Apenas tiene humor cosa que era esencial en la de dibujos. El ave Fénix sale dos veces y para eso quitan a Mushu. Seguimos con más fallos la familia no se llama Fá ahora se llama Hua. A veces se hace lenta y cortan cosas de la original (Os contaré en Spoilers). Si esta película sido 90% fiel al film del 98 y el 10% restante con estas pequeñas cosas nuevas le hubiera puesto un 9 o 10. La mala ni si quiera nos dice de donde viene (O al menos eso recuerdo). Las tomas de acción están bien rodadas. Apruebo la película porque tiene buenos efectos, fotografía y es entretenida.

En resumen, Mulán es un producto aceptable, por los pelos. Es muy inferior a la película animada, debido a unas cuantas decisiones narrativas bastante cuestionables y a su escasísimo impacto emocional, lo cual es la tónica habitual en los remakes de la casa del ratón. Si te gustan los otros intentos del estudio de traer sus pelis de los 90 a la acción real, pues igual te gusta este, ya que al menos a mí no me parece el peor de todos ellos (a menos, claro está, que lo que te eche para atrás sea el alegato feminista, que claro que está ahí, pero es que vamos a ver, ya estaba muy presente en la original, ¿de verdad alguien pensaba que en 2020 ese mensaje no iba a aparecer multiplicado por cinco?). Eso sí, no creo que merezca la pena pagar 22 euros por ella, y menos aún para verla en tu casa.
